    My refrigerator's ice maker stopped working and I had Choice Warranty. They sent a technician out to assess the issue who said it should be repaired but they denied the claim immediately. I appealed and was told the claim was denied due to a recall for the icemaker by the manufacturer who would repair it for free. I was also told if I provided documentation that the repair would not be covered by the manufacturer, I only had to submit that and my Choice Warranty would activate to repair the refrigerator. I provided Choice the documentation that the repair would not be covered under the recall and Choice would not cover it. Warning to the wise; do not choose Choice Home Warranty. I expect a company to honor what they say and market. This didn’t happen.

    I have been with Choice for about 15 years or so. 5 years in a row there were AC issues. They authorized the bare minimum. The last time (this week) they said the issues was wear and tear and denied the claim. I am going to cancel and find a more honest vendor. Their claim appeal agent was rude, and kept cutting me off during my appeal. Stay away from these people.

    You have changed my times. 8-12 becomes 10-2 and so on. Both times I have needed a part replacement. Ice Maker, came quickly, but my microwave service tech, albeit nice, left my microwave inoperable.     Though a congenial person and appearing technically competent, the technician, Mr. **, could not resolve our issue. The A/C would cut off without warning. Mr ** did diagnose the issue as a blocked A/C water line, but could not clear the line. He recommended I call for a plumber. He also could not resolve why the A/C was making a loud humming noise in the house. For the blocked A/C line I ultimately had to clear the A/C DRAIN pipe myself using vinegar and water plus using a tire inflation device to blow out the accumulated water.

    I given a ridiculous offer to replace my Viking built-in oven. You can't get the part and I was offered only $909. I can't buy ANY built-in oven for $909. I was told that you only pay the wholesale price. I can't buy wholesale!!!! My oven will cost over $11,000 to replace. I should be given at least $4,000 towards a new Viking oven! When I bought the policy I told the salesperson that I had Viking appliances. I was told that I would get replacement value of a LIKE KIND appliance if it had to be replaced.

    I also have a Viking dishwasher. The bottom rack has degraded and is unusable. You will not do anything for that claiming that it was rusted and your policy doesn't cover rust. I am going to contact the Department of Insurance stating your deceptive sales practices and not covering what I was told it would cover. I also plan on filing a lawsuit against you in Small Claims Court for the maximum replacement value that your policy was supposed to cover.

    Did you just pay over $70 for a visit, ahead of time, just for no tech to show up? Then, did the tech reschedule for another day and time without giving you notice and when you contact the warranty company to correct the problem they tell you there's nothing they can do? Yep, sounds like Choice Warranty. Everything's good when you make your monthly payments, but when it comes time to give you help on a claim ... this company takes the money and runs! No customer support and No customer service = No help when you need it! It would be better for you to save your money and fix the problem than to pay them monthly and have nothing to show for it! Avoid making the Wrong Choice and skip choosing Choice Warranty, unless you can afford just giving money away ... just to give money away!

    We have the Samsung oven range cooktop that is not working and called CHW to create a service call. After a technician replaced the touch panel (paid out of pocket for $292.84), the issue is still generating the same error. Later that he found that the unit is not repairable due to the wiring harness damaged (assumed this is considered as parts). On the CHW contract agreement, all components and parts are COVERED, however, CHW denied the claim and said that they are not going to pay a dime for this claim or offer any repair or unit replacement. They then closed the claim without my authorization and marked it as completed. We have tried to work with them but they still refuse to help resolving the problem and leave all of the responsibilities on us. We are not happy about their service as a loyal customer so cancelled the contract. We would 101% recommend not to go with this company.

    I would not renew my Choice Home Warranty. What a waste of money. I made two claims. One when I had no heat and it was in the single digits outside. My HVAC system would only heat the house up to 62 degrees. I waited over 48 hours while they tried to find me someone to come inspect it - Luckily, I had heated blankets and space heater. I finally reached out to see if I could call my own service repair company. After they finally agreed to let me find my own, they sent me a link for the service repair company to come out and diagnoses the problem. They wanted the service rep to only diagnosis the problem, send in a report, then wait another 24 to 48 hours to get approval for the repair before they could fix the problem. If I didn't follow the protocol, no reimbursement. I had no heat. So, of course I had them fix the problem, not just diagnoses it and come back another date to fix it. The heat strips were not kicking on. I paid for the repair myself.

    My second claim was the water line under kitchen sink burst. I need a new valve and water line. I made a claim. After 48 hours with no contractor, I asked if I could get my own plumber. The plumber came out. Choice Warranty wanted them to send a diagnostic report to their website, then wait up to 48 hours for approval, and then come back and fix it. I wasn't going to wait a week without water to my kitchen sink, so I had the plumber fix it the first time he came. Choice Warranty refused to reimburse my bill since I didn't follow protocol (get diagnosis, wait up to 48 hours to approve the work, and then pay for the plumber to come back again to fix the problem).

    Very unhappy with the policy. They don't want to pay, hard to reach by phone, and want every claim done online. They make you wait for them to find someone in your area - Can take up to 48 to 72 hours and then they want the service tech to fill out a diagnostic report and then wait another 24 to 48 for approval before they can fix the problem.

    I have used Choice Home Warranty to service all my appliances and pool equipment for the last 3 years. I am extremely disappointed with their service and would not recommend them to anyone. For example: They could not find a tech to repair a pool motor problem which then I had to find. In the search I explained they would have to coordinate and get paid by CHW AND WAS FLATLY REFUSED MANY TIMES BECAUSE OF THEIR SLOW PAY AND HOOPS THEY PLACE ON THEIR SUPPLIERS.

    Another time my refrigerator stopped cooling. CHW made appoints separately with 2 tech from different companies each who never showed up to make the repair after they came to diagnose the issue. Again I had to find a local tech who was willing to jump through the hoops CHW requested of them. The result was I had to wait months to find out it could not be repaired. In the end they paid me less than half of its value to replace it in kind. I definitely would not recommend CHW!!

    This was my first claim experience with Choice. The claim initiation process was easily accomplished, and a contractor was readily assigned. The scheduling of the actual appointment was delayed and set appointments were rescheduled three times, one scheduling notification was in conflict with another that turned out to finally be true. The technician seemed knowledgeable and proficient and said the water heater would have to be replaced. I later received an email from Choice saying the damage was caused by a rodent infestation and was not covered by the warranty. This all leaves me back at square one and makes me question the value of the maintaining the warranty. I would have appreciated an appliance replacement proposal, either from the contractor or from Choice. The matter remains unresolved.

(Last summer we were without air conditioning for three weeks, and we ended up spending $2,500 to install a new compressor without the warranty paying anything!!). I would add here that Choice needs to add a way to reveal that you live in a mobile home on their on-line service request!!     When I submitted this claim for a potentially failing well pump, Choice Home Warranty sent out a plumber. He initially confirmed that the well pump was failing and, later (at a second visit), that the pump had completely failed. Since he was the one initially sent out, he’s the one CHW has down to do the replacement. But he’s a plumber, not a well-replacement guy, so he has to contract out anyway. His well guy was supposed to come to the property yesterday to inspect and develop a plan, but he didn’t. I would use the plumber again for PLUMBING needs, but Choice Home Warranty should have sent someone from a well company in the first place.

We got a Choice Home Warranty with a newly constructed home we purchased in 2023. 2 years later our Air Conditioner stopped cooling. We had 2 repair companies come out and give estimates, one sent from CHW and the other was the original installer of the A/C. CHW would only cover $1,100 of the $3,200 repair because they said it was not due to normal wear and tear. That was after I appealed their original decision to cover nothing. The appliance failed during normal operation of the Air Conditioner. They didn't claim that we abused the system or broke something because we were not using it in the proper way. They just didn't want to cover the full cost to repair a covered appliance.

    I started by calling Choice Home Warranty’s phone line for help with my gas fireplace (Lennox LBV-4324ENH), which suddenly stopped working mid-use. I was not sure if it was covered, so I gave them a call. On the call, the automated system directed me to submit everything through their online portal. So I followed instructions and submitted a claim — clearly detailing the problem and explicitly asking if the issue would be covered under our plan, which includes the heating system, electrical system, and improper installation/repair. I stated plainly that I only wanted a technician sent if the issue would be covered.

    They sent someone out anyway — who took one look, said it wasn’t something they could fix, and left. Then Choice charged me the $75 service fee for a job that wasn’t even touched. Later, they denied the claim entirely, saying the fireplace wasn’t covered. I then filed an appeal, spoke with two different representatives, and explained that I only wanted service if it was covered. I made it abundantly clear in my claim. Despite that, they refused to refund the $75, and my fireplace still isn’t fixed. So in the end, I paid $75 just to ask a question — a question that never got answered until after they took my money. This was a complete bait-and-switch. No one confirmed coverage, no one followed up, and their only “service” was collecting a fee for doing nothing.

    So let’s be clear: I paid $75 just to ask a question, my fireplace is still broken, and now I’m in a worse position than when I contacted Choice Home Warranty — out of pocket and no closer to a fix. Choice Home Warranty is deceptive, disorganized, and completely fails to protect homeowners. I feel scammed. If you’re considering using them, don’t — they’ll take your money and leave you hanging.

    I filed a claim because the power to my garage stopped working. I couldn't open the garage door and the fridge and chest freezer had to be hooked up to an extension cord. It was over the weekend and it took longer than normal to get an appointment. Once I had the appointment information I called on Monday to confirm the appointment for 7-11 AM on Tuesday and the electrician asked me to text him the details, which I did.     Hands down one of the worst Home Warranty experiences to date with Choice. When I purchased the house I placed a claim **, **, and ** (17APR 2024) that was NEVER processed beyond the technician coming out to my home. I paid the service call fees and that was that. No repair. No replacement. No call back. When I called to inquire about status I was told there was a Technician shortage in the area. On 31 MAR 2025 I placed a call for my Washer… The Tech informed me that the claim was denied and that I needed to contact Choice. I called and spoke with a Paula M who knew nothing and did nothing. No matter what she put in the notes I can assure you that she knew nothing. She confirmed that the claim was denied.

    Once I was off the phone with her logged back into my account and requested an appointment with the other name in the email, a young lady named Quesada. She knew a little more. She let me know that the claim was not denied but PARTIALLY APPROVED and I would be responsible for a little under $250. When I asked for the assessment/writeup I was told to contact the Technician. I called him and he was very accommodating. He did go over the assessment. He did provide a copy and he did tell me that the cost of the part was more expensive and he was waiting for an update from choice.

    I called Choice on Monday 14 MAR 2025 and was told to contact the Technician and I did. He informed me that he was still waiting for Choice. I text the Technician again today 16 APR and finally, this afternoon the Technician informed me that Choice informed him that I was responsible for just under $250. Can’t make it up. Please see my account. Please see all claims submitted. This is no joke to me. I work just as hard and all that I require is that Choice honor the contract. I spent wayyy too much time online going over my contract. Providing photos of my contract to be told that’s not the contract online and a whole 2 weeks later and no washer. I’ve been a home owner in several different states since 2008. As a military family we move often. This is my first time as a Choice customer. I can’t say that I will remain a customer if we hadn’t paid for several years in advance.

    Worst experience with a home warranty, will not be recommending! Utter failure. Disgrace it’s so highly rated, customer service is poorly trained and deceives the customer with false hope that their claim will be handled in 24 hours, after 24 hours they will lie and find every way to move the goal line back and say it is now a 48 hour time period. They also use a computer to find contractors first, then actually call which only takes minutes not a whole day to perform. Misleading and unprofessional.

    This is the second time in two years that Choice has disappointed me. I called and filed a claim when my cooling system failed to cool at all three weeks ago, when it got very hot here, in the upper 80s, for a couple of days. The system was cooling (and heating) just fine until now. I am 78 years old, and toughing it out is unacceptable when I have paid for a HOW. Choice took over three weeks to get someone out. The HVAC Tech was very nice and diagnosed it as a reversing valve that is not reversing and needs replacement.

    I've been waiting to hear something. Didn't hear. I checked the website, and it says, "Completed." No one from Choice has communicated with me to explain how that is possible. The HVAC Tech speculates that the Claim was denied. If that IS the case, it should say just that. The repair should be covered. It was functioning fine when I entered into the contract with Choice, and in fact functioned fine until three weeks ago. Choice has done a poor job of communicating with me. Choice has left me no choice but to have the work performed and require that Choice reimburse that expense.

    I recently changed my home warranty company to Choice based on my daughter's recommendation. I was planning on changing to another company anyway since I felt the previous one no longer met my needs. That was in July 2024. On Saturday, 4/12/25, I Ieft the temperature at 72 with the fan on auto when I went to bed. However, when I woke up on Sunday morning, 4/13/25, while the temp was still set to 72, the temperature in the house was on 64. Mid-afternoon on Sunday I went online and made a claim with Choice - my 1st claim with them.

    On Monday, 4/14, at 8:36 am, I received an email from Choice informing me that my claim was assigned and listing the date, time and technician's information on the email. It also gave me the opportunity to request a different time and day. I was able to contact the technician directly and change the time for their only remaining slot the same day - a late appointment from 4 - 8 pm. The technician came around 4 pm, and we discussed the problem. He then went up to my attic and found the problem. He then informed me what was wrong with the unit, fixed it, then checked to ensure that both the heat and air were working properly before her left.

    My first impression could not have been better - in terms of ease of requesting service, the time it took to get service, and the time it took to fix the issue. All of one day - literally! Unheard of with my previous warranty company. Naturally, I've been singing their praises since then to anyone who will listen. I am thankful I changed to Choice and would shout it from the rooftop. Could not be happier with my 'choice' of warranty company and the company they use for heating and air issues. Thanks again, Choice. MH

    We used Choice Home Warranty for about 3 years and were dissatisfied in a number of areas. First, when we did file a claim for a covered incident (plumbing leak), it took 5 days from when the claim was submitted to when the first technician came to assess the problem. During that time, the issue escalated and a great deal more damage resulted. We had to receive the expertise of a second technician after that, which was another 3 day wait, and ended up with additional damage that was not covered, but would not have occurred had we had a timely response to the initial issue.

    Additionally, we are constantly barraged with sales outreach to upgrade or renew our contract. When I explicitly said we were not interested in a renewal and to please ensure our contract was cancelled, I was assured the contract would terminate as of the stated end date. I received an email with the below language from Choice, to which I did NOT initiate a renewal, expected that my service would be terminated, based on their outreach. I received no further communication from Choice, but 3 months following the email, was billed again for services. In working with their customer support, I was assured my ongoing services were cancelled but that it was a "no refund" situation and hung up on.

    Email language from Choice, to which I did NOT respond with a request to renew: "Thank you for using Choice Home Warranty to protect your home. Your Home Warranty is expiring soon and CHW will no longer be able to help protect you from covered repair and replacement costs. Renew now and prevent a lapse in coverage." I do not recommend working with Choice Home Warranty.

    I submitted a claim on 4/1. It is 4/14 and I have yet to have a technician come onsite. The first one they assigned never made it out the property. The first miss was he said that it was a weekend and the system was down. The second one he said that it was not supposed to be that day but the next. The third miss he did not show up. I asked to have a new tech assigned. After a day of nothing I opted for the reimbursement option. Unfortunately I could not find anyone who was willing to comply with Choice's submission process so I asked to rescind my reimbursement choice as the system would not allow me to reopen my claim or open a new one. I talked to customer service again today, Monday 4/14. They said that they will ask their dispatch to prioritize my claim. If they can fix this then I will amend this review to reflect that, but for now I would not recommend them.
