    The customer service agents are rude and uncaring. I was with them for a long time paying way more than I would pay any other company and when I finally put a claim in for my air conditioner, they were extremely rude. Then my credit card was stolen on a Saturday, and they deactivated my account immediately and when I call to update with the new card, the customer service agent was extremely rude. The fact that my online account was deactivated in less than 24 hours of a past due payment, is not good business. My card was stolen on Saturday and they deactivated my account on Sunday. I will just have to go to another company because I do not pay to be treated badly.

    Extremely Disappointed with Choice Home Warranty – Avoid at All Costs. I had a truly frustrating experience with Choice Home Warranty and feel compelled to warn others. When my HVAC system started short cycling, the technician they sent diagnosed the issue as clogged coils due to poor maintenance and denied my claim outright. I appealed the decision, and they instructed me to get a second diagnosis at my own expense.

    I hired a certified technician who found that the real issue was low refrigerant levels — a completely different cause than what their technician claimed. Despite this, Choice Warranty still refused to approve the claim. Now they’re saying my technician must perform yet another test to determine the origin of the refrigerant leak, and of course, they won’t cover any part of the diagnosis or repair.

    This whole process has felt like a calculated runaround to avoid covering legitimate repairs. Between the misdiagnosis, the shifting requirements, and the refusal to cover anything meaningful, it’s clear this company is more interested in dodging responsibility than helping its customers. I regret ever signing up and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a warranty provider.

    Had a heat spell, noticed the air upstairs not cold and set up inspection of my A/C through the choice warranty website which was very easy, appointment scheduled about a week later.     Had to make a claim on a dishwasher. The process for submitting the claim was very straightforward online. A date was set up for the technician to come out. After waiting all day, and no technician, we started to make phone calls. The number provided for the technician was of no help in that it seemed to be some national center, and they could not give us any local help. The next day, after we called Choice warranty, they said we had to wait 24 hours so they could contact the technician.

    I waited 48 hours, and after no call back or email update, I called and had to insist on talking to a supervisor, or someone who could help. A supervisor did call me back and wanted to have me wait again so they could try to contact the technician again. I asked if there was another option and they did agree to find another technician. Later that day, I was notified someone else would be out in two days. They did come and everything was fixed. To be fair, this was mostly the fault of the local technician, but it would have been nice if Choice could have been more responsive when the technician never showed up, instead of me having to keep calling them. We spent 3 hours on the phone, negotiating the issue and two full days at home waiting for the service.

    We have had Choice Home Warranty for 11 months. Luckily we have not had to use it until now. We placed a claim when our water heater started leaking water and the pilot light went out on a Saturday. Got a claim # and contact for help but they would not be out until Wednesday am. Wednesday came and went. No one so I called. They did not have us down for a service call but could come out that evening.

    We have not had any hot water for 5 days now. They informed us that more than likely they would have to replace the water heater which meant waiting for approval from Choice getting the water heater and scheduling the repair. Also it would be 850 dollars in labor to do so due at time of services. We decided to take care of it ourselves for a lot less so the warranty did us no good beside cost us an additional 600.00. We will not be renewing. He said it would be the same case if it was heating and air. Also if an appliance went out they get replaced with basic appliance, not what you currently have or same features. So disappointing. Would not recommend to anyone. Disappointed. I recommend to my daughter. Will make sure she does not renew.

    After a major surgery being on crutches I accidentally knocked a small item in the toilet midflush. It got stuck down in it. Choice refused to cover the expense of fixing it saying it was misuse. They don't pay labor either so when I had a leak in my kitchen sink, I paid the $100 and the part cost $5. Now my monthly cost has went up after a year. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY PICK AND CHOOSE.     I filed a claim for heat repair during a cold period. After 3 days, I called back to check the status. I was told no one had picked up the order yet and to wait another 24 hours. Waited. Call back 24 hours later and was told the same thing after a week. I asked them what the expectation was and how long that I would have to wait. I was told that I would have to wait until someone picked up the order.

    After two weeks, I asked them for an alternative resolution and gave them the name of the service provider that I normally worked with who said they would come out within 24 hours. They called them, but they were not willing to pay my normal provider, the fee that they charge. However, they gave me the option of finding my own provider and only accepting what CHW was willing to pay after the repair and I had to follow a hole list of procedures in order for them to cover it, including having the technician take pictures and send them to CHW, then pay out of pocket and they would reimburse what the deemed reasonable.

    After two weeks without any heat, I decided to accept that option. The technician came out, took pictures. We immediately uploaded them to CHW website. The technician had the part on the truck. Was able to fix it right away. Gave me the bill which I paid and submitted it to CHW. I was told that because I didn’t wait for their response that they would not cover any part of the repair. They also told me that the HVAC system would no longer be covered under my warranty, even the components that had nothing to do with this repair.

    Seeing the pricing and the services Choice Home warranty offered met what I was looking for.

    Submitting a claim is very easy. The service call isn’t always as prompt as you’d like, but as far as the service is concerned, I have no complaints about the service.

    The last time I needed service was a couple of months ago when our gas dryer in the basement stopped working. A technician came out. It was simple, but he had to take the drum apart to replace a belt.

    Their prices are reasonable, and the service was good. For the dryer, it took about a week to get a technician out, not terrible, but there was a slight delay.

    When the furnace had an issue, they scheduled us eight days out. I thought, we can’t wait that long, we have no heat. So I contacted the service provider directly, and they were able to reschedule and come earlier. Other than that, we were satisfied.

    I recently had a claim with Choice Home Warranty for my leaking faucets and my jacuzzi. The jacuzzi motor was covered. But I was disappointed because the switch, which was more damaged, was not covered. It is also hard to get them when I’m trying to check up on claims. I have to call another number in order to talk with somebody. But if I was calling to join in, I would get somebody right off, then they have to lead me to someone else. Overall, they have provided excellent service. They have been sending people out, whoever is in this network.

    I left American Home Shield to go to Choice because my swimming pool, pool pump, and the Freon on the air conditioning unit are included in the package. I don't have to pay for the Freon other than my deductible.

    I was looking for a new home warranty because I had American Home Shield, and online, they say Choice Home Warranty is supposed to be number one. It seemed to cover a little bit more.

    Choice is better, but not as well as I thought it would be. I’ve filed several claims, and there have been a couple of times when they did a good job.

    They recently had a plumber come over because I had a leaking pipe. The weirdest thing was $50 was all that Choice authorized, but the plumber said it doesn’t cover his labor. I had to come out of pocket because I couldn’t let it keep messing my basement up.

    When I have a complaint, they solve it pretty well. Last summer, I put in a claim when my air-conditioner went out. When they got with me, they told me it would take a week and a half before someone could come out, so I called up several companies and all of them said they were ready to go. When I called Choice again, a supervisor said sorry that they had a lot of backups. He said to send them the bill and they’ll send me a refund.

    I put in a claim for my doorbell and an electric switch that was not working. The claim was denied even though the electric switch is covered apparently it was something to do with the technician not waiting for approval. My big issue is that I could not get to a claims representative. I kept getting put back into the queue. It took me five days to get a hold of someone. I was so frustrated. I was crying by the end. I had an appointment and the phone did not ring through for some reason and I kept trying to call back and when I tried to call back the number they left for me I’d be back in the queue again.     The Open and Flowing plumbing company was fine. They tried to unclog the main laundry pipe with a snake but found the pipe totally collapsed and about 8 feet of the cement floor needs the be jack-hammered, dirt removed, walls opened and the length of the pipe with mainline sewer connection replaced. It’s a major job that Open and Flowing could not repair or handle. The issue still remains, a blocked pipe. I found a plumbing company, Embrich Plumbing, that can do the required work, tel: (618) 343-9899. It’s pretty urgent since we now have sewer blockage/collapsed pipe. I would like permission to proceed with pipe replacement.

    This company was trying to win our business, but they have a sorry way to show it. I do not care to work with a company that is afraid to communicate with their customers. When we purchased a home warranty plan with this company, we made sure our pipes were included. They do not use reputable contractors, and when someone showed up (in a piece of junk vehicle), they put in the claim how the crawl space was flooded, Choice Home Warranty denied our claim. No one ever called us to let us know the claim was denied. We tried calling the person that showed up, we were sent to voicemail.

    Choice Home Warranty company is a sham! Never call them, ever!! After waiting to find out about the claim, now I have to wait four days before I can get a REPUTABLE company to fix this issue. I am out $175 and four days without water because of their lack of customer service. The claim sat for over three weeks before it was assigned to a contractor Due to conflict with contractor getting calls for furnace repair and/or temperature (temperature has to be over 45 degrees to diagnose problem with A/C) my claim was not completed.     The most recent claim through Choice Home Warranty was good. The technician was great. He started the work late in the day, but he felt more comfortable completing it. We would have had to be without water, so he stayed really late to make sure that he got the job done.

    But it took us a long time because more than once, we were told that our claim wasn't covered. We had a slab leak, and it said slab leaks are covered up to $500, but I had to argue with multiple people. There was especially one guy who came back to me and said he didn’t know how to make me understand that it isn’t covered.

    It took several people before we connected with a case specialist, and she said it, very clearly, is covered. She was very kind and got us reimbursed and made sure we received that check.     Since 2014, my husband and I have maintained two home warranty policies with Choice Home Warranty. Unfortunately, over the years, we have observed a steady decline in the quality and efficiency of service. Response times from service technicians became slower, and the quality of work diminished noticeably. In one year alone, we submitted three separate service requests for issues involving our refrigerator, sink, and washing machine. Each time, we were informed that the necessary repairs were not covered under our plan, which was both frustrating and disappointing.

    For our rental property, the situation was equally discouraging. We were told that a specific part of the air conditioning unit needed to be replaced, but that the cost would not be covered and would need to be paid out of pocket. As the policy neared its expiration—still six months away—we began receiving frequent and intrusive sales calls, often daily, which became increasingly bothersome.

    When I finally called to discuss renewing or updating our policy, the experience was disheartening. The representative placed me on a seemingly disingenuous hold, only to return with a new offer that increased our monthly payment by $5 (they wanted to increase it to $40 dollars to 100) and raised the total cost of the annual plan by $100 (from 1050 to 1155). After spending two hours on the phone, I was informed by a resolution specialist that they could not honor the previous year's rate and that I was welcome to explore other options if I found a better price.

    Throughout this process, I spoke with several representatives, including Anthony, Christian and China (Sales Resolution Specialists), and Danny (Sales Representative). Despite the time and loyalty, we have invested since 2014, the experience was disappointing enough that I chose not to renew one of our two policies. While I did retain one policy, I strongly considered canceling both. Ultimately, the poor technician quality, aggressive sales tactics, rising costs, and lack of appreciation for long-time customers led me to reassess the value of maintaining coverage with Choice Home Warranty.

    This warranty company is very poor in multiple areas. Some of the main concerns I recently had with my claim for a dishwasher:

    1. Poor communication from case managers or their service provider Technicians. Nobody calls you for more than 10 days. After multiple chase someone will send an email and unreachable phone numbers.

    2. Claim denial within 10 mins by a technician and company by just looking around the appliance. They gave a reason it is not covered under pest infestation as per policy. However policy does not call out any pest infestation around the appliance. ( There was a a tiny pest infestation on the nearby cabinet touching the leg of dishwasher. It had nothing to do with the leak error code on the dishwasher). This is like an easy reason to always reject any claim. On top of that technician charged $100 for doing nothing.

    3. Claim manager calls after many days and says why did you send email? I don't read that frequently. I should have uploaded pictures onsite. This was never communicated in earlier emails. She was not interested in retaining a customer. She immediately agreed to cancel my account. Very poor service don't go by their affordable price!

    Last year, in June noticed that the A/C was not cooling down. In August we called Choice to report the problem. Choice sent a technician, and he determined that the unit needed refrigerant, Choice did not approve the repair. Accordingly, the “refrigerant was not authorized”. Later, I contacted “Hall Air Conditioning” to come and check the unit. The technician indicated that in fact the unit needed refrigerant but also other parts, however parts for this unit were no longer available. In his recommendation he wrote “Homeowner will most likely have to replace the system”.

    I started to communicate with Choice and sent them the response from Hall A/C but they did not agree to review the case. In December I contacted another technician (Quality A/C), they also indicated that “the unit needed to be replaced”. This year, in February, I re-sent the information to Choice – main office in New Jersey. Including registered letters to the General Manager, Mr. James **, but got no response. As the summer started to get warm, I decided to replace the unit, cost was $7,800.00. I sent copy of the invoice to the local managers and the main office… but got no response.

    First the warranty company farmed me out to Sears Appliance repair who scheduled me over a week out (5/12) from my initial claim (5/4) who then no-showed. When I called Sears back they stated that the soonest they could get a tech out was 5/22. After four calls to Choice Warranty and multiple escalations to a "supervisor" (5/12). I was told multiple times that I had to just wait for Sears to reschedule me.     I’ve had Choice for a while and just renewed it this year. The last time I filed a claim was for the air conditioner. Their response time was quick, but not accurate. I filed the claim online and received a computer-generated response that says they received the claim. Then they set an appointment and everything seems fine on that end. The problem is they don’t coordinate that very well with the technician.
    Their technicians, who are out of San Antonio, get the request and may say they’ll do it, but it might be a week later before they actually get here. If you don’t know how it works, you sit at the house waiting and they don’t show up. When you call, they say the appointment was never actually made and the earliest availability is the next week. I’m in Austin, which is about 70 miles away, so it takes time to schedule us in. Eventually, they came out and fixed it.
    The people who come out are nice, good, and efficient. They get it done. The last one who came out for a kitchen faucet went above and beyond. He was fantastic.

    I have a house that’s 32 years old, and Choice is a good thing to have. It’s a lot better to spend $65 than to spend $500 on repairs.

    It takes too long for a company to come fix a problem. The homeowner has to find the model # if the number is off, then the member has to pay another fee. Also, if I have two plumbing issues, I have to pay twice. The monthly fees and service fees have gone up.

    Electrician came out 3 days later to tell me they have to replace 3 breakers in my fuse panel. I didn't know they had to write an estimate and submit for approval before the repairs are done. Approval came quickly but now I have to wait six days before they replace. I only have partial power in my house. Using extension cords to power appliances. Scared it's is going to cause more problems. Didn't have this issue with AHS. THEY REPLACED ON THE FIRST VISIT.

    I signed up with them in February 2025. I called for service on 5/9. The tech showed up 3 days later. The pipe my A/C was cracked & leaking water into the house. They said my policy does not cover that. No one told me that when I signed up. This is a horrible company. They take your money but do not provide service. Do not deal with them. I never received a copy of my policy when I signed up. They take your money & do not provide service. Avoid this company at all costs. You will be sorry like me. I had to call someone local to fix my A/C system. I cancelled my policy with them. You cannot get no live. You have to leave a message, for them. A truly horrible company.

    Had CHW for 2 years. Until around May 1st you were able to call & speak with a rep. Now the # is either disconnected or you MUST get in queue for a call back which is a joke. Getting a replacement washer offer which is less than the cheapest washer at Lowe's (getting a Lowe's ecard for replacement). I want to see if they will increase the offer but cannot get a human to talk with. I will be REVIEWING on all platforms!

    Disappointing Long-Term Experience. I’ve been a customer with Home Choice Warranty for several years and currently have two homes covered under their plans. Unfortunately, my experience over time has been increasingly disappointing. One positive aspect is that once a claim is placed, the response is relatively fast. However, the technicians they send out are often not knowledgeable or effective. In many cases, the real progress only begins when a specific technician, Israel Riley, is assigned to the case. He is excellent and fixes problems promptly and correctly — but getting him involved often takes unnecessary time.

    In one recent case, I had an issue with an electro domestic microwave. A technician came out, said it couldn’t be repaired, and the company agreed to pay for a replacement. However, the payout was shockingly low. For a microwave that costs about $800, they only offered $190 — and that’s after I paid a $70 service fee. That’s barely a fraction of the cost, and certainly not enough to replace the unit.

    When I called customer service to escalate the issue, I was told there was nothing they could do and that no one above them was available to speak with. That level of customer support — or lack thereof — was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. Overall, my experience with Home Choice Warranty has been terrible. While the fast initial response is appreciated, the delays in follow-up, poor quality of contractors, lack of fair reimbursement, and ineffective customer service have left me extremely dissatisfied. I can no longer recommend their services.

    I read the reviews for Choice Home Warranty and they were positive. I checked the ratings with some of the other sites. And it showed that Choice was evidently a good firm to be with. And I’ve had them out here several times working on things. And pretty much everything's been fixed like it needed to be. I do both online and speaking with a person and I like both options. There are things that are difficult to explain online.

    CHW made it very difficult for reporting possible multiple sources of ONE problem. In this case, water leaks from upper housing floor with water dripping down to lower level. Technician sent from CHW refused to fix the possible small leaks from the multiple sources. AFTER 5 days of calling CHW, with NO responsible. Answering service only take a phone number without allowing the client to talk to anyone besides give us your 10-digit phone number and we will call back. After trying over 10 calls, finally reached a person. She said, "Yes, we have receive your report, we are working on it. You will get a report within 1 to 2 hours." No email. No one called back.

    After 4 days of not able to talk to anyone while the leak goes on and creating damage. No success to talk to anyone, even by calling the SALES team, the phone call got forwarded to the SAME loop which only asked for phone number. VERY VERY FRUSTRATING!! No one to talk with. No email to receive question. Wrote, several note through CHAT. It was sent but no reply. It was like going into a BLACK BOX. Finally, filed a 2nd claim which got immediately assignment of a new technician. However, it is from a different company. Another long story...

    Finally, figured out that there is a way to upload a report. And I finally, uploaded a diagnostic provided by the technician who only gave report and did not fix the problem. As of now, not sure how many potential source of problems will be fixed to cure this one leak. I am still in the middle of this to find out what will be fixed. B.t.w. I have three properties insured by CHW. What should I do? Change company and avoid the frustration or stay-on?

    The techs came a few weeks ago for a toilet that was blocked. It’s blocked again so they’re gonna come tomorrow. Then I have another claim for my microwave. They sent Electrolux out and then they ordered the part. They fixed it but it didn’t work. Then they came back and ordered another part. Then they came back and said they have to order other parts. They’re just replacing all the parts and I don’t know what the problem is.

    I’ve been calling Choice telling them that we received the parts but we have no way of contacting the technician who came out. When I call them, I go through this whole long waiting process and I have to enter all of the serial number of the microwave. And then they say that they cannot guarantee the microwave anymore. The warranties run out and that’s why we have Choice. I’m a bit frustrated with the way things because we’ve been without the microwave for over six weeks now.

    I reached out to Choice three times wanting the guy to come back. The last time I reached out was Friday and they said they’re gonna deal with it internally. Finally, I got an email an hour ago saying that they’re coming on the 15th.

    I've been a customer with Choice for about a year. I've been with American Home Shield for about 10 years, but they just kept raising their rates and the cost of the service call. To be perfectly honest, the last couple of times I had dealings with them, they were difficult to deal with, unwilling to respond and repair the air conditioning quickly, and I think they lost their way.

    My experience with Choice has been excellent. From the time I submitted the claim, it wasn't hours until I had a call from the contractor to schedule the appointment, and they came out the next day, diagnosed the problem on the spot, and got the replacement part ordered.     The agent, contacted by me by phone assigned an AC Company that had no contract or dealings with Choice Home Warranty. No one came to my home on the day assigned by Choice. Several days later I contacted the assigned AC repair company and was informed they had never had a contract with Choice. I called the agent again and was informed he would assign a new AC contractor. This was not done. After a week or two I called Choice again, and was assigned a new AC technician. I was given a new date for him to come to my house. He was unable to come. I called Choice again and was informed the new AC tech had been sick. I was never previously been informed of the tech's illness. A new date for him to come to my house was assigned. He came at scheduled time and was courteous and efficient.
