    Our furnace stopped working on a recent winter day. I called to start the claim process. Filing the claim was simple and fast. The CHW rep. took the information, assigned a claim #, and told me that I would receive a call within 24 hours with the name of a local repairman. The call came within 3 hours, but there was no recommendation of a repairman: instead, the rep. told me to choose my own! That's great in a small town! I just called the man who installed it 12 years before! Love that! The rep. reminded me that the first $45 was my responsibility, and that the repairman would need to call in for authorization of repair and parts if the amount required exceeded $100. In my case, it did not, and now I'm just waiting on a $20 reimbursement. Great Experience!

    After a visit from service co. about my built in microwave, I was under the impression that it would be either repaired 100 % functional or replaced with a new one. Then found out that there will partial reimbursement towards a new one. The customer service rep gave me an amount that would not help me much financially to replace the unit, but she tried to talk to her supervisor and was able to increase the amount little more. Its not the increase amount that made me happy, its their willingness to listen to the customers concerns and expectations and more of giving it a try to make a difference.

    Sachan Corp, your vendor, and its service rep, Mario, provided timely and excellent service. The washer sensor was replaced with 24 hours of Mario's service call, but the dryer control board is no longer manufactured by GE. Sachan is searching for a source. So far, Sears is the only "find" with its own substitute part, but Sears reports that its repairman must install. CHW may need to do so as a last resort pending Sachan's efforts.

    I have a 10 year old over-the-counter that I have been using since we bought the house in 2003. It suddenly stopped working. Food is no longer warming-up. I called Choice Warranty right away and in less than 5 minutes a technician called to troubleshoot it over the phone. He could not make figure out the problem so I scheduled a visit at my convenient time I choose. The day of the service, the technician called an hour early informing me that he will be re-scheduling me because he has an emergency at home - that his wife called that their gas heater is not working and worried about frozen pipes.

    It is definitely an emergency so I understand but I told him if he can even stop by on the weekend time because I've used up my vacation days. He promised he will call me back for the new time.     We purchased a home, new to us, but 40 years old just after a complete remodel. I felt it was very important to purchase a home warranty given the age of the home and not knowing the quality of work done during the remodel. It looked good but you can't always see everything. I'm very happy we purchased the home warranty. One week after moving in we lost a whole wall of outlets in our kitchen that weren't working. I called Choice home warranty and they gave me 3 options, which I selected one to come out and it took them about 2 hours to get down to exactly what the issue was and fixed it to our satisfaction. The call cost us a total of $45 and nothing more.

    I also had a toilet drain that was backing up. Same thing. I called, they put us in touch with 1 of 4 options for a plumber. They came out and cleaned out the line... It seems that during the remodel the tile guys washed out and put their grout cleaning through the drains. One hour and a total of $45 later our toilet drains excellent. I'm very happy we purchased the home warranty and would recommend Choice Home Warranty to anybody thinking about purchasing a home warranty. They're excellent at following up to make sure that your claim was properly satisfied. Thank you Choice.

    We had a serious problem with our furnace for months at our rental property. Choice came out several times, replacing parts or adjusting and repairing items. Tenants were worried if contractors knew what they were doing so were we! But on 3-3-14 John came out from J&S Heating and Cooling and found out that our Inducer Motor and Pressure Switch was bad. These were expensive parts plus the cost of labor. To be honest we wondered if Choice would really pay for it, or would they refuse and cancel us. But praise the Lord they did! We have 2 properties with them and I sent my Brother to get a contract with them.

    Thank you Choice for keeping your word on your contract and being faithful to your loyal customers. I referred my Brother to them and they are supposed to be giving Me and my Brother (both a free month). (Wow! Can you believe that?)     Called Choice Home Warranty on Friday to have someone come out to look at my heat pump. The earliest they could come out was on Monday. I wasn't happy to hear that I had to go all weekend with no heat. So I called back again and they were going to check if there was someone else that could come out. Well, I am still waiting! No one from Choice Home Warranty ever called me back. I am not a happy customer and not so sure I will continue my contract with them. It is now Monday and they are not sure if they could send someone, it depends on the weather, so I may have to wait another day without heat.

    Called CHW about problems with my garage door. Claim agent was friendly and quick to respond. I received a prompt e-mail assigning a very reputable garage door company that would be handling the call.     Filed a claim on leaking water heater. Given claim number. Plumber called, checked out heater. Called Choice Home Warranty, took forever to answer. Finally plumber left and told me his office would contact me, and of course collected the Service Fee. C.H.W. then called to tell me that the tank was not covered and denied the claim payment. This last summer, I filed a claim on my A.C. Again the claim was denied. Be careful because they like to collect your payment each month, but will only pay out on small claims. When you need them, they will remind you of all the exclusions on the warranty. I am a disabled Viet-Nam vet. That is the reason for the warranty. Now I have to shop around for something cheap to replace. Meanwhile, the water has been running because I have not been able to shut the water off. Next month I have to come up with a plan to pay the water bill. Because of My disability, I cannot do any of the physical labor. I have cancelled the plan. BEWARE. YOU CANNOT BEAT THESE PEOPLE.     I have had the warranty for over a year. In July I called due to GFI plug in kitchen not working. I was given the name of a contractor. I called but the contractor said they would no longer be doing claims for Choice. I called Choice back, they were unable to find any contractors in my area and told me I would need to get my own contractor and fill out a reimbursement form to get back. When we were finally able to get a contractor out to our home I was told they would not cover the claim because they do not cover tracing the electrical problem, broken electrical wires. My wires were not broken, they had melted and burned so I am arguing that.

    Basically all they would cover is the plug, but hello the plug includes electrical wiring to fix it. I called back to the sales department inquiring about coverages and the rep told me electrical wiring was covered. They did not even know the exclusions. Not to mention when the contractor gets to the home they have to call Choice with a diagnosis and it can take 20 to 30 minutes to get a live person on the phone. Therefore not only do I have to pay the contractor but I have to pay the labor for the contractor to wait on the phone for them to answer. Needless to say I am not happy. This was my first claim with them.

    My first service call to Choice Home Warranty was regarding my air conditioning condenser. The weather was extremely cold and a neighbor stated that my unit was making a horribly loud noise. I called in to CHW and was given the name of a repair service in my area. I was told to call first thing in the morning during regular hours. CHW stated they were forwarding the service agreement to the repair service. In less than an hour the repairman initiated a call to me.     I have been a CHW customer for approx. 6 months. So far, I have made 3 claims. My first claim was for a broken garbage disposal. I called CHW and told them about my disposal and they put in a work order. That same day a technician called me and someone came to my house at a time that was convenient for me. They installed a brand new garbage disposal. Same make and model as the previous disposal. I gave them the $45 service charge and the job was complete in about 20min. The second claim I made was due to my own stupidity and I'm embarrassed to state the claim. Therefore, I will spare you the details on that one. Lastly, I made a recent claim on my heat pump/AC unit.

    A technician was called and arrived on the same day. He did a thorough check and has so far had no problems. He also added refrigerant to my system. My unit is a very old one and getting it to run efficiently is a struggle. However, the problem seems to be fixed and I haven't had any more trouble. In closing, I would like to say that my overall experience with CHW has been excellent. When I had a problem, I called CHW. They contacted a technician who later contacted me in a very timely manner.     I signed up for coverage on 12/27/13, I was told the first 30 are free since you can't make a claim for 30 days. I was charged anyway. After 33 days had passed & I had been billed again (33.75 each time). The drain hose on my washing machine broke & I called in for service. I told the person what had broke & the model (a Sears Kenmore/LG). The repair person came 2 days later w/ no part. After looking at the machine, he called his boss, who would order the part. I asked how long it would take & he replied it won't take much longer than a week. About 10 days later, he called, had the part but Home Choice would not pay for it. It was too soon after the 30 days. They told me I was a liar! Save yourself the $ & aggravation.

    Terrible. I was denied my claim for a dishwasher repair because Choice Home Warranty stated that calcium buildup over the years in Maytag Dishwasher was the reason for failure. They told me that I had to maintain it. Over the years I have put the solutions recommended into the unit from time to time.     I purchased this contract after being relentlessly solicited!!! Time came to use it & was beyond disappointed! They were great getting someone out to access repair. Repair was confirmed after a thorough exam & reported it to Choice. While repairman was out to make purchase item to be replaced, I received a call from Choice & was met with the most rude unprofessional & disrespectful individual!! I was told repair would not be made, that there was no way the leak just started, it had to be leaking before I enter into contract. Of course I would not report a false claim!! This is exactly how they make you feel!! I asked to speak with a supervisor & was told there was no one else I could speak with & that I would not receive a refund if I canceled my policy.

    The repairman was gracious enough to call me & apologized as well as return my Copay. He advised me of another home warranty company where I would not be met with this type of problem. I did exactly that!! I didn't accept the explanation I received from Choice & called to speak with someone in customer service. They were also apologetic & offered to remedy the problem. By this time I had lost all confidence in this company & felt I would be met with this type of scrutiny whenever I called.     I had a bad ceiling fan and was told I was only covered for 70 dollars. I said "fine," I bought one to match the other fan even though it cost me more money. When they installed the fan I sent them a copy of the fan bill, never got paid. I did this 2 more times same result.     I have a drainage issue that started Friday after they closed. Called them on Monday, they assigned a contractor that showed up today, but didn't have the equipment to do anything. I can't use any kind of water at home, temperature here in Michigan are below ZERO and have a pregnant wife. Spend 4 hours on the phone with Choice Home Warranty and after speaking with a supervisor and 4 customer rep, they advise me that they only have 1 technician in my state that they signed up the day I called them and to wait until they can find someone else. I was given the option to find one myself but according to them, the contractor can't be part of a corporation because they won't authorize the services.

    All of the customer service reps were rude and very indifferent to the problem, including Michale, Joanne and their supervisor/director of the blue team called ** who won't let me explain but kept talking over me and at the end hang up the phone stating they don't know how long it'll take to find another contractor and to wait, and when asked who is above him to speak with since I am a paying customer and they are not doing me a charity work, he mentioned that anyone above him don't have time or concern to talk to any clients and hang up the phone.

    This is not my first time having an issue with the company. I will just let you know that they want to do everything cheap and don't care about the problem as long as they get their money. I pay them almost $500 per year but just one services call that I still have to pay another $45 on top of it and they tried their best to tell me a bunch of stories how they won't cover it but when they were caught that the service is covered under their policy, they tried to be short and hang up the phone. I'll be looking for a better company if there is one out there.

    My stove burner stopped working. Called Choice on Jan 27, 2014 send this company called COLLES AC AND HEATING out on JAN 29 to check out my stove. He got the part number and said it a switch issue. He told me he had to order the part. I paid him the $45.00 service fee. He gave me the run around, never kept the appointment he made no return calls, I called in to report the issues. On Feb 8, 2014 he came out at 6 pm but made appointment with me between 10-11 am. Put switch on, it was the wrong one, called Choice to let them know. I CALLED ANOTHER COMPANY TO FIX MY STOVE ON FEB. 10, 2014. They pick up the right switch AND PUT IT ON THE SAME DAY. The part was 42 dollars. You can pick at local part store. I never want Colles to do no person like he did me. I had to pay out of my pocket twice of service. I want the cost I have incurred. I am very upset.

    Choice Home Warranty will use any excuse to deny a claim and treats its customers as liars.

    I am compelled to write this email because of your non-response to my communication dated November 23, 2013. My initial claim was that the transformer serving the unit serving the second floor rooms was damaged and the reason the rooms were not getting heat. My annual maintenance contractors tested the unit with his transformer - the unit worked. He wanted to sell me the transformer but I declined since I already had home warranty (I have had home warranty coverage with HWA Home Warranty up to the day I switched over to your company). When the technician from Air Pros of Houston came to repair the unit, not only did he burn out the board (claiming the wiring was done wrongly) but he also left the place in a mess. I have taken pictures of the whole mess left behind.

    Whereas it's not my intention to doubt the professionalism of Air Pros of Houston as a company, I sincerely doubt the qualifications of the technician sent to my property in view of the mess he left as can be seen in the pictures - the unit is completely torn down with the parts thrown everywhere and open wires left hanging in the unit. There are a few observations made about the technician - it is standard practice for a technician to take pictures before commencing repairs especially when a claim can be denied, he did not collect the service fees which is customary, I am not sure when you gave him approval to replace the transformer (at what point did you ok the repair?), it is not acceptable to tear down an equipment and leave parts everywhere.

    Where does the next repair technician start unless the technician was to coming to install a new unit? This is not professional! He did not leave a paper trail (for record purposes) and he was in a hurry to get out of the premises. He did not want to be held accountable. If the board was bad as he claimed when he called me, then the unit would not have fired when the maintenance technician tested it with his own transformer. If the Air Pros of Houston technician was just lazy to follow procedures and confirm the first diagnosis, he should have tested the unit FIRST before wiring his transformer.

    It is my opinion he wired the transformer wrongly resulting in burning the board. What proof can he give that the board was wrongly wired? I talked to a Mr. Mark of Choice Home Warranty who promised to get back to me as soon as soon as he heard from the technician but he has never called me back (over two months ago without a call back!) unquote.

    I wrote a follow-up letter on January 18, 2014, a supervisor called me a week later and left a voice message on my phone. When I called back, the supervisor had directed one of the employees to inform me that the claim would not be paid. Is this good customer service? I have been operating on one heating unit, which I think I am overworking, but I was hoping this company would treat me with dignity. I have gone an extra mile to have the cooling/heating equipment serviced twice yearly, once before winter and once before summer. I am giving CHW two weeks to resolve the issue and then I will have another contractor replace the board and the transformer.

    Choice Home Warranty is not BBB accredited. I sincerely hope this is an isolated incident and does not reflect on the general performance of the company. That is why I have not cancelled my contract and have given the company time to resolve the issue.
