The initial CHW Rep advised that the Garage Door Opener wasn't covered; this was not consistent with my contract.     I discovered the problem first thing in the morning, so I immediately contacted Choice Home Warranty. The representative on the other end was very very pleasant and helpful. The representative informed me that they would contact an appropriate repairman in our area and advise me the results and a phone number to contact to make an appt. with the repairman. This was accomplished immediately so I was able to contact the assigned repairman yet that same morning. Upon contact, I was told by the repairman that he would arrive at my home approximate 2:00 pm the same day.     My microwave quit heating and I called Choice for service. They were able to contact a repair company the same day and I was notified to call them for service. The company responded the next day and told me the repair was expensive and Choice could decide to replace the unit.     I first contacted Choice Home Warranty to find out if they insure RVs. They told me that without a doubt, they do cover RVs. I called several times to make sure they cover RVs and also if they cover the AC units on a RV. Every time, they replied that they did cover RVs. I took out a policy. In April of the following year, my AC unit started making a noise, sounding like the bearings were going out in the blower unit. I called and made a claim and they sent out a man to check out our unit. He did and said it was the bearings going out. The following week, I received an email from Choice Home Warranty asking me to call them, which I did. They told me that I was not covered because of the type of AC unit it was. They told me that they cover Mobil Home AC units but not RV Units. I got nowhere with them concerning fixing my unit or refunding my premiums. They told me they would only refund the last two payments. I believe they misrepresented themselves when they told me that they covered RVs. Obviously they do not know the difference between Mobile home AC units and RV units. RVs only have one kind of AC units that fit on top of the RV. I highly recommend that NO ONE use this company.

And now, we are still in our first year with Choice Home Warranty and just completed our third service call from a CHW provider. And you know, I couldn't be more pleased with the decision I made to switch to CHW. Their vendors and service providers are all first rate. The Customer Service Representatives at Choice always go to the limit and beyond to make sure their subscribers are satisfied with the service and even provide helpful suggestions when they can.     The technician was very nice and they made sure to be there that day (which ended up being more than once) and he even came back one evening when we couldn't keep the ignitor light on. The phone staff was very helpful and polite when I called in to report the problem and was quick to refer it for help. The technician recommended replacing the unit because we were just basically "bandaging" a more serious problem so that concerns me, but it is working so I am not complaining. I guess my biggest concern is whether an appliance will be replaced if necessary. I don't want to keep putting band-aids on problems because it is no fun to take cold showers.     I have paid the full premium for 13 months last year for my Home Warranty. 2 things broke in my home during the coverage period: microwave and overhead garage door opener. Both the claims were denied for some reason or the other. Worse, they made me pay 45$ service fee for each technician visit - and they never fixed anything at all. I had to get both the items fixed on my own and at my own expense. On top of that, when I asked for a written reason why my claim was denied for my records, they said that they can't give out that information other than verbally over the phone and they cut the phone line.

    Apart from denying the claims, they are also rude when I try to reason out that it should be covered under the plan. I want to cancel the service, so I sent an email to cancel the service and reimburse my premium. I am extremely frustrated and angry with their Zero service (actually negative service). I need this to be taken up seriously please. I believe this business is a complete consumer rip-off and should be shut down right away.

    Choice took care of my AC problem. It was the second time that my AC was not blowing cold air. In Oct 2013, they only had the repair man fill it with Freon. The problem returned this spring 2014. The AC unit was almost completely out of Freon. They sent a great company out to repair it and fill it with Freon, only cost me my service fee. The only problem I had was the first company scheduled to come out and fix it made three appointments and never showed up.

    They got me another company to come out, but the guy who took my call for rescheduling was kind of short and rude on the phone. But oh well, maybe he was having a bad day. Bottom line Choice took care of me. I have already recommended them to a friend. People don't trust warranty companies and I did not either, however if you have an older home it may be worth your money to have one.

We had a similar coverage in Omaha, Nebraska with Service One, when we lived there.     Our air conditioner went out and we had the heating and air conditioning company out to look at it. They coded it as a "ground to fault" failure and was normal wear and tear. Choice Home Warranty never called me, just sent me an email saying that I needed to call them. When I did, I was surprised to hear the customer service representative say that there are four reasons for a "ground to fault" failure and they would not cover any of them. I spoke with the heating and air conditioning company who said this is the 1st home warranty company that would not cover normal wear and tear in her entire 18 yrs in the business. My AC went out and sure enough they denied the claim stating that corrosion on the coils was not covered and was due to neglect and improper care. However the reason I signed up with them was prior to the warranty agreement, I paid a contractor to inspect the unit. At that time he stated that "The coils are in good shape." I paid Choice Home Warranty $1100 for a 4-year warranty that, even their own contractors know, will not be honored. I will take further action against this company. They seek any excuse not to honor their agreement. But with the document in hand from the prior contractor that I hired that rated the system in "good shape", I will seek restitution.

    Issue with drain backup in basement floor drain. CHW as usual was great in sending and contracting service. The plumbing company that was sent I was not extremely happy with. Gentleman was very nice and polite but offered no sense of urgency and acted like he was unsure of what to do or how to do it. I know I only paid $45 deductible for this attempted service but I think this company is doing not only CHW but the actual customers a disservice.     In early November 2013 I submitted a claim for my heater. The claim was not processed until January 3, 2014, almost 52 days later. After several calls to Choice, they keep telling me the check is in the mail. After about 7-8 calls I then asked to speak to a manager. I then found out that they sent the check to the wrong address. THIS WAS THEIR FAULT AND NOW THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER 90 DAYS TO GET A NEW CHECK ISSUED!!! It’s now been more than 90 days and I called again today 04/03/14 and still no check... They flatly told me 90 days is not up and after that I have to wait another 30 days for the check to be processed and mailed. THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY ON THE PLANET IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Now more 160 days and counting!!!

    I was a pleasure to contact Choice Home Warranty in reference to the issue I was having with my microwave. Timing was good and a technician was contacted and within 48 hours was here to inspect, make recommendation of replacement which was approved by Choice Home Warranty within 24 hours. Due to the age of current microwave and possible repair cost, CHW chose a buyout refund which will pay for a little over half the cost of a new microwave. The only issue I do have is the extended time of about 3 weeks to receive the buyout funds. However the process is clear, understood and well appreciated. I do know, had the microwave been repairable, it would have been done on site and within 48 hours of my claim. I will also recommend CHW to any others who may ask about the service I have.

    We purchased a home warranty making sure all aspects of our heating system were covered. My contract with Choice clearly states that ALL COMPONENTS and parts necessary for the operation of the heating system are covered, however, if you have a heat pump they consider that an air conditioner and will not cover it if it breaks down. I went back and forth with this company for 3 weeks until they told me they would not cover my heating system. No one at that company clearly knows how a heat pump works. Beware even if written in a contract they make up their own rules so they don't have to pay.

    Unfortunately I've had to call on Choice Warranty three times this month. One occasion, the issue was not covered and I was told right away. The other two issues - an oven that didn't work and a heater that wasn't coming on - were covered. Unfortunately the oven could not be repaired, but I was able to collect a pro-rated amount to assist with a new product. I've not received the check, but expect to receive it soon. The other issue, the heater, was handled right away as well and with the odd Texas weather, I was grateful I was able to make a call to a repair location and get someone out soon. They told me they would contact a plumber and get back to me.     I had a problem with my hot water heater. I called and Choice sent a plumber out. He lit the pilot and left. It went out again and again it went out. The plumber then decided it needed a new control panel. It took two days to get an answer from Choice Home. In the mean time I have been without hot water. Then the answer came. Labor would be $240.00 and they expected me to pay half. Huh? I thought that was why I was paying for a warranty! Needless to say I was furious. I told them to cancel my warranty and email me a copy of that cancellation. Of course I have never received that email. Biggest rip off I have ever seen.
