    I had a four year contract with Home Choice. I had the outside unit fail on my central air. It leaked gas. They would not pay for the repair. I put my claim in on a Monday. The AC guy came out on Wednesday. I called them several times to ask why they rejected my claim. They said it was normal wear and tear and Home Choice does not cover that. Home Choice said vibration caused the leak. The cover was never taken off the unit outside. When I told Home Choice that, they ignored what I said and said they were waiting on pictures.

    I spent several hours on the phone with them. They said at least 30 times they don't cover normal wear and tear. That unit sits on a concrete slab for 13 years with no movement. The top man finally called me back on Monday to talk to me. I had already called at least 3 or maybe 4 times arguing my case. This is Texas and the temp is 100 plus. I paid almost $2000 to fix my AC. I paid $1050 for my contract. I canceled and got a $283 refund. Don't ever use this company, they won't pay the big bills.

    So I have a faucet leaking right now and I am with a different home warranty company that told me I have to have added faucets to my extended package, which made me go looking for another company. I called Choice and when they told me a 30 day wait, I told him no thanks and he then tried to entice me to still purchase their coverage to where my service fee would be half. I told him that wasn't the issue and then tried to tell me that it would only cost me $20 to fix the faucet, which is wrong. Because if I have to buy a new faucet, that alone is more. And a plumber may have to come out and that would cost more. The guy was very pushy, which doesn't help my problem.

    I have had a home warranty on my home systems for 10 years. I changed my service to Choice because both the monthly price and service call fee were much less than the previous firm I used. I had an issue with my air conditioner on one of the hottest Houston holiday weekends this summer.

    I had AC issue on 7/13/14 (Sun). Contact was made with Choice. I received via email my service contractor; phone call made and was surprised but happy he answered. He came out the same evening and informed my husband we needed a new inside unit because it was burned up due to lack of maintenance and the home warranty company would not cover repair. It was going to cost me over $3,000 to replace that unit. So a call was made to another AC company for another opinion (out of my pocket). Let's just say my AC was repaired and cooling before 8 am Monday, July 14, 2014. I needed freon for the most part. I contacted Choice via an email regarding my service contractor assigned and the one I found. In a nutshell, Choice reimbursed me what I paid the AC guy I called.     I woke up to find that my garage door opener had no power to it. I had recently signed up with Choice Home Warranty and decided to try it out. I was concerned that I might get push back since I was a new member, but I shouldn't have worried. The customer service representative was very friendly, listened to the issue, immediately issued a case number, and even gave me instructions to call the provider in an hour to get them moving a bit quicker.

    The provider called me within 2 hours anyway, and we scheduled the service. The provider was punctual and friendly. It turns out the processing board had gone out, and they replaced it. If it was just me I would have simply bought a new one, which would have cost around $300 after installation. I simply paid my deductible, which saved me hundreds of dollars. A great experience overall. If this type of service continues, Choice Home Warranty will have a customer for life!

    I have always had a very positive experience with Choice Home Warranty. This time was no exception. Although after contacting Choice I found out the problem part was not covered under the plan, the customer service representative did everything she could to find a way to assist me. After discussing the issue with her supervisor they provided a case number to me for a technician to come and look at the problem, as I had been a loyal customer. Though there was still no guarantee they would repair or replace the defective item. The technician was very professional and quickly identified the problem. After contacting Choice they agreed to replace the part as it was not repairable. I just want to say thank you to everyone involved for helping my family and I to get the issue taken care of.     I developed a block in my sink drain on Saturday. I called CHW Saturday night, and the customer service rep took my information. She said to wait for the Plumbing company (whoever it ended up being). When I called them on Monday afternoon to check the status, I was informed they needed some more information. Apparently, the first person I talked to did not do their job properly. This might have only cost me a day without a working sink, but it's worth mentioning nonetheless. That is my only complaint.     The booster pump on my swimming pool was making a terrible noise. I called in to place a claim and the very friendly representative I spoke with verified my policy coverage and quickly gave me the name and number to the company that would be used to take care of my issue. I called after hours and left contact information on their recorder. I was contacted the next day and set up an appointment the following day to get it looked at. The service man called before coming by. He arrived and turned the booster pump on and quickly turned it off. He went out to his truck and retrieved the new pump motor along with his tools needed to change it out. Within an hour he had the motors switched out and all I had to pay was the 45.00 service call fee.     The pool pump stopped working suddenly. In Texas summer this means in couple of days the pool can turn green. I submitted a claim request to choice home warranty online (it was evening). Next afternoon, which means the same business day, a tech came. He told me "this is probably a capacitor blew up. I will replace it." I asked "are you sure, you are not testing anything?" He said "95% that's the reason." He replaced the capacitor in 10 minutes, the pump worked smoothly. I loved this experience because it took few business hours from submitting a claim to having the claim fixed.     Called CHW due to problems with my light in my kitchen not turning on. I tried changing the bulbs twice and checked the circuit breaker with no luck. I called CHW and they got a repairman out the next day. After troubleshooting the repairman said the problem was the ballast. Ok, no problem. He goes to check if it's covered and comes back to say it is not. So the ballast is not considered electrical? Because the warranty says my electrical is covered yet, they won't repair my light fixture?? When I wrote them to ask why they didn't cover it I received no response. If they just have people come to evaluate the situation I can do that on my own. I just wish I knew before hand that's all they did, I would not have wasted my money on them. No wonder they are not BBB approved. One very dissatisfied customer here.

    I had a problem with my AC not cooling properly. I called Choice Home Warranty and sent a repair man a day later. He put some Freon and left. A week later, I had the same problem and I called Choice Home Warranty and they sent the same guy again. This time, AC Technician told me that there is a leak in the AC system and will charge me to do a leak detector test, $175.00. Choice Home Warranty will not cover such tests. AC tech told me that he found a leak in the evaporator coil and took photos to send to CHW.

    Choice Home Warranty has not seen any of the photos that the tech sent them. Choice Home Warranty told me that the repair will not be covered because it is a pre-existing condition and that pre-existing conditions are not covered. I have spent $405.00 and it's still not fixed and now the fan is not working. I made a mistake by signing a contract with this fraudulent company.

    We have a rental use that we have coverage on. The unit needed was not cooling properly so we filed a claim. The first tech they sent out was extremely rude and short tempered. He didn't have the 5 minutes to wait time for my tenant to get a hold of me to see if I would be willing to pay for extra services. He said nothing was wrong with the unit - it just needed cleaned. He didn't perform any service, packed up and left before I even had to time call my tenant back. I filed a complaint with Choice about the tech and they assigned someone new.

    The next tech they assigned didn't show up at the time they told us they would be there. He said he had a more important job and wasn't worried about us. That he would come when he had time to get around to it. I filed a complaint again. The next tech they assigned also never showed up and when I called them they said they totally forgot about the service ticket. I again filed a complaint again. The fourth tech went out, determined that the seals on the compressor have gone bad and it needs replace. He said the coils are in good shape, they are clean and the fins show no sign of damage. He called Choice, but Choice informed him that the compressor failure was due to lack of routine maintenance and would not be covered. This is based off the fact that the first tech filed paperwork that nothing was wrong and it just needed cleaned.

    A manager informed me that they have since stopped using the first company due to multiple complaints about service. However, due to his report to them that the unit was dirty, they are claiming the compressor failure is not covered. So, now they are requiring me to provide documentation that I have had it cleaned yearly by a certified HVAC tech to prove that the failure isn't lack of maintenance. I have a home warranty so I don't have to pay for this time of repair. I went through 3 different AC companies and then they stand one a statement from an AC contractor who is less than reputable. They aren't going by what the 4th tech that they sent out said.

    I signed up with Choice Home on May 30, 2014 after being with another Home Warranty Company for 6 years and the reason I changed was Choice Home was $10 per month cheaper and the Policy seemed to be similar but I quickly found out I was Wrong... My coverage began on June 30, 2014 and on July 7, 2014, I noticed an Appliance was making noise and Choice after 2 weeks found me a local repair Company and, when they came and diagnosed the problem, Choice Denied my Claim and said it was Pre-existing which was determined by their in-house Technicians even though I was not aware of the noise prior to July 7.

    Their contract in SC reads Choice will not Pay for a Pre-existing Claim if it is Known or Unknown. After my discussion with the Supervisor and knowing they were not going to Pay, I went to their Cancellation Dept. and never have I met someone in a large Company so Rude and difficult to deal with. I demanded my 3 months of Payments back but they would only refund the last Payment made so I hope they will Actually make me the Refund. I would not Recommend this company because the Pre-existing Language gives Choice an Option to Deny any Claim they want being the Problem you have was Known or Unknown too so I am glad I found out now rather than later.

    This is one of the worst companies that I have ever had to deal with. They drafted my bank account and withdrew $465.00 of my money that was not due to them at all because my account was completely paid in full for the year. I called them five times before I spoke to anyone who could be of any assistance. They never returned my phone call of a previous complaint from a similar situation where they drafted money over a week before the date that I agreed to have drafted causing me four fees in total.

    Once I finally got someone on the phone at 4:30 in the afternoon even though I began calling at 9 am, he stated I would have to wait until Tuesday to get my money back that was not theirs to began with and they would not reimburse the fees I accrued due to their negligence. I then asked for a refund on all of my properties and the so-called " manager" said to me, "Well you know what, too bad we are not refunding your fees and there is nothing we are doing for you", and hung up on me. Leaving my bank account with a zero balance over the weekend. After I had explained to them all day in each conversation that this unauthorized Draft caused my account to withdraw funds from savings account and now it was pending to be overdrawn as my mortgage was coming out on the same day - No remorse what-so-ever. Poor customer service, cold, cruel and uncaring.

    Ok, I called at 7am because the ac went out. It is 98 degrees in Houston with humidity feels like 105, it is now almost 6pm, have not received a call back yet.     While Choice Home Warranty (seemingly) does what their contract says is legal, what they DO NOT cover is far more extensive than what salespersons led me to believe. I've had three claims on three homes. One claim was covered. It involved a commode that was not operating correctly. The second claim was NOT covered because the plumbing issue was on the outside of the house by 2 feet. The third issue was not covered because doors aren't covered. A dishwasher is covered...except for the door. A refrigerator is covered...except for the door. A garage door is covered...except for the door. I was told this at the point of the claim but was never told this at the time of purchase. I've experienced coverage on competing warranties without all the "fine print exclusions". I will cancel my coverage and get the company I had previously at another property. I highly recommend AGAINST this coverage (or lack thereof).

    I have several rental properties with them. They find more reasons not to cover a repair. They always say possible power surge when in fact there has been none. Then they just told me that they didn't cover low boy hot water heaters! They are in all of my condos. The salesperson just skipped over that. On another unit they said the air conditioning system had to be cleaned by a refrigeration company and I had to have paid bills for this. I have a handyman manager who takes care of this. They said it wasn't good enough. According to the contract it just has to be cleaned according to manufacturers warranty book. I have not been covered yet. Better to self insure when you have multiple properties.
