    Since I moved into my home here in Sun City West, I promptly received my home warranty information packet in the mail.     I was told that they would only cover the heating element and not the water heater therefore I was not covered at all. What a rip off to say the least. No one I know has ever had the heating element go out. In order to have hot water, I was forced to replace the heater at my cost. They offered $150 dollars and the repair person told me I had to take the $45 dollars off of that as that was supposed to go to Choice not the repair person.

    Contacted Claims on 11/28/2014 and the customer service dispatched a service to me that made appointment for next Thursday. Fine I understand, due to holidays they may have been backed up. Tech for Pro First Appliance Repair showed up, and assessed the issues. He then related he would have to order the part from Sears for the Heater and Control Board. Total cost of parts $176.00. Now it is friday and I receive a call from automated robo call that I need to call Choice Home Warranty. So I did. The operator then relates she is a supervisor and that the company will only dispatch a check in the amount of $176.00 and that I would have to replace the unit myself.

    My washer is a Kenmore Elite, Mod # 665.17579202. The replacement model for this washer is Sears Mfr. Model: #12769 Sears Item # 02212769000. Seven years ago this washer was $780. Now to replace it, it is $1149. Called the repair man, he told me total bill to repair was $279 with labor. The operator I called after getting home from Sears relates she is a supervisor, places me on hold so I call again and another "Supervisor" operator answers. Amazing that all the luck in the world I have contact with all the Supervisors in this department. I call ** . I advise them as to the cost of the replacement washer and that the offer is not acceptable, and that the idea of the warranty is to fix the problem. Yes the washer is 7 yrs old, but to offer $176 to replace that is not even 15% of the replacement model. The operator then stated she would have Her supervisor call me due to the fact that he was on the line with a customer. Probably screwing them. They won't even return the $45 service fee.

    They haven't fixed the problem, they haven't remedied the problem. Instead I have to replace a washer and pay out of my own pocket. Warranty? This isn't a warranty, this is a scam. You pay $400 - $500 for coverage that is supposed to repair your appliances and they refuse to fix. THIS COMPANY IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY. BEWARE AND BE BETTER OFF REPLACING YOUR APPLIANCES YOURSELF. THIS COMPANY TAKES YOUR MONEY AND DOESN'T HELP YOU OUT - THEY SCREW YOU.

    To be fair to other businesses, there needs to be a rating system that has negative stars. If they did I would rate this business a negative 5 stars. I had a plumbing problem in one of my properties. They sent their plumber (apparently they only have one). He claimed the problem was fixed and left. It wasn't! We called CHW and they sent the same plumber out. In total this happened four times in two months. To add insult to injury, the last time the plumber came out, he bad-mouthed my family to my tenant, claiming we were the problem. Mind you, I still had to pay for this. Consequently, I almost lost a good tenant and the problem was still not corrected. I used my MGMT Co.'s plumber and the problem was fixed permanently in an hour. It's bad enough to use incompetent workers. But when they attempt to tarnish your business, and throw you under the bus in defense of their own incompetence, well that's outright dangerous. Please avoid these backyard, inept, customer service clueless hooligans.

    I was a bit disappointed with the appliance company that was sent. They said they would order a part for my oven but later said they were unable to do so. And that I should phone Choice and ask them to order the part thru their sources. And that Choice has a better source for parts than they do.     Submitted a claim on the website and had a very quick response. I have to admit, that part of their service is excellent. The problem is when it comes to repairs. This is the third claim and the third time I have had an issue. This time I called in for my dryer making squealing noises when I tried to turn it on. The service tech responds that he recommends I change the dryer motor and leaves it at that. I get home, try the dryer, have to hold in the button to make it work, squealing going on, starts heating up, burning smell starts up. Sorry, I am not going to run a dryer that has a possibility of catching on fire. Either CHW needs to get better technicians or they need to authorize the repair of appliances they say they cover in their policy. When I tried to cancel my policy with 8 months left, I am told I will only get back $156. Needless to say I did not cancel and will see if I have better luck with my next claim. Lesson learned, AHS may have more expensive service calls but at least my appliances were repaired!

    I placed a claim Oct 24, 2014 and was told they would replace my washer and send me a check. I have not received a check for that claim and it is December 1, 2014. I have called and they will only send the check if I pay them another month of service. I have had a problem with this company and now they are forcing me to pay another month and the claim was submitted in a covered period of time. I have told them I want to cancel in December and because of that they will not pay the October claim. They want me to pay for December in order to get a check for an October claim which I had coverage for. To top it off, I have been without a washer since the claim was made. So they want a December payment for an October claim to be paid - a different form of blackmail to get money from me for something I had coverage for.

    Policy started in March of 2014. Claim filed on AC in Summer of 2014. Claim was ultimately paid out of pocket to a contractor who could do the work. Claim in November for Heater. CHW suggests that I contact a local contractor to get an estimate and they will approve all or part. November 24, CHW calls to say they are denying claim based upon lack of routine maintenance. They say I must provide two years of prior maintenance even though the policy has been effect since March of 2014. When I tell the customer service supervisor that the condensing coil was replace two years ago, she changes her story and says that a "catastrophic event" would not be covered at all. The sales rep never stated that I should review the CHW policy website pages even though the customer service rep says that is my responsibility. Without question, working with CHW is the worst business experience I have ever had.

    We contacted Choice Home Warranty Friday morning, 11/14/14. We were given a claim number and told a contractor would be dispatched from KTM Mechanical. We waited, and after not hearing from KTM, called them Monday morning.. Eventually they came out and after an hour turned off the heating unit stating the circuit board needed to be replaced. The next day we received an email from Choice that our policy was cancelled. KTM said they weren't coming back to fix or even turn our unit back on. Apparently there were 2 policies on our home, and Choice took it upon themselves to cancel the one we paid for with the pending claim. It took until Thursday, 11/20/14, for them to understand what they had done and fix the policies.

    In the meantime, the contractor would not come back out to fix the heat. Once the policy was straightened out we received a call from Choice stating everything was okay and the contractor would be out yesterday evening. The contractor never called and never showed. And here it is 7 days later and we still have no heat. This morning we were told by Choice that the contractor didn't come because he can't get the part needs until Monday (because he didn't order it until today). So we have to go another 3 days without heat. Really?! At this point we have called our own contractor to fix the heat. They don't have an opening until Monday, but at least we know they will show up and get the heat fixed.

    At this point I have no confidence in Choice Home Warranty or their contractors.

    The way I see it, there are two entities involved which I am unable to integrate: (1) you as the Warranty company and (2) the contractor who did the actual work. I had two commode problems which were serviced on Nov. 6. One of the commodes which had been serviced continued to leak. When the contractor came back, he determined that he had fixed one leak, but there was a 2nd leak he had not detected. The 2nd leak required your approval, but since he was here after 7 PM, your office was closed and he could not complete his work. He had to make a 3rd visit to fix the 2nd leak. Both commodes are now working well.

    Everyone beware. The plumbing in your contract does NOT cover drains. This is the claim I submitted. "Water leaking from upstairs shower over-flow." The overflow is considered a part of the drain. The personnel at Choice did not inform me that the drain is not covered. They scheduled first one technician who never showed or contact me. Then they scheduled another technician. He came out and surveyed the problem and submitted an estimate. I asked the technician if there was any problem, and he said this is normal and not to worry about it. I gave him the deductible and thought all was well. I received a call from Choice stating that my claim was not covered.

    So here I am a week later, with an upstairs shower that is unusable, and I am out $45 because the claims personnel did not read my claim and inform me of the gap in the coverage. I am extremely disappointed in the warranty so far. I had a claim for a dishwasher control board that took 3 weeks to repair. The supervisor I spoke to explained that Choice does not monitor their contractors after the estimate is approved. Once the estimate is approve, they no longer follow the claim. They have no metrics of the performance of their contractors after the estimate is approved. It is up to the customer to follow-up and ensure the job is performed satisfactorily.

    This company is not proactive. They rely upon the customer to do all their follow-up. Dissatisfied does not describe what I feel right now. They should have been able to at least warn me that the coverage may not be covered. They made no attempt to do this, they just dispatched not one but 2 different companies without reviewing the claim.

    I got a home warranty through Choice Home warranty about seven months ago. When I got the warranty, the agent told me that regardless of what the problem was it would be covered. My AC and heating unit went out about a month ago and I called Choice Home warranty to come take a look at the unit. They Looked at it and told me that it would not be covered because apparently it is not covered. Their explanation was that they just don't cover those particular parts. I should have known that when the agent was being so pushy, that this was a scammer business. Anyways I got duped into getting the warranty and I just paid the premium for seven months. When I called for something to be done, they just dismissed my claim. I'm completely and utterly dissatisfied with this company and would never recommend this company to anyone ever.     Our AC unit went out in October. It took 3 days for Choice to send a service technician when the motor went out on our ac unit. When one came out we were told that Choice wouldn't look at our claim without us paying $150 for a leak test to be done. We paid $195 the first day and when I called to check on the claim I was told it was denied because we didn't have a leak test done. After proving one was done we were then told it was denied because of lack of maintenance. After calling for several days trying to talk to a manager and being told one would call back the same day each time, I was told by a manager we could get a second opinion. After paying for a second opinion I was told the ac had issues due to normal wear and tear; however, Choice still denied the claim due to poor maintenance.

    After talking to a manager who assured me they would send me the report with the reason the claim was denied over 2 weeks ago, I have still not heard anything from Choice. Due to their lack of professionalism and their unwillingness to cover our AC unit I would not recommend this company to anyone. They say they will cover appliances at any age, which is not true. We have records of recent servicing of our AC and they were not willing to look at these before they made their decision of lack of maintenance. We wasted $195 on the service call for an incompetent technician and also our yearly membership rate! It would have been much cheaper to call out a qualified technician and paid for the repair on our own, which is what we still had to do in the end anyway.

    It's better to avoid this agency, not fair, not helpful. My 7 year old washer broke down - when I file claim with chw, they denied to repair or replace as they promised earlier. They told they work only with appliances of 25 years old with normal wear and tear. Service tech came after 2 days of filing claims and he took 2 weeks to find a solution - concluded washer is overloaded, so they can't help with my claim. It's hard to get contact with them and their service technicians.

    We had a water heater problem in August of this year. This house is our second home, soon to be our retirement home. This home is in Arizona, so I could not be there. We contacted Choice Warranty, and it took a few days to finally make a connection with the plumber they assigned. It took a day or two, but they did get the new water heater installed.

    The Contractor contacted us and said he needed to bring the exhaust pipe and plumbing up to code. That was going to cost us about $900.00. I had to trust him, so I said ok. They eventually got that done by installing an expansion on the water heater. In the "big Box Stores" you can get them for about 40-60 dollars, and about 10-15 feet of new B-Vent. I was told by our house sitter, that he was there for about an hour or so. When we finally got up there, I took a look, and the expansion tank was installed, but supported on by the copper pipe and some flat plumbers tape. In the beginning he would answer my phone calls eventually, but kept promising a reduction in the final bill which was $1012.00. Every time we talked on the phone or the e-mail it was a different story, and finally no more replies and all phone number voice mails as "FULL.". He was quick to run my credit card, but as of today 10/31/14, I still do not have a bill to justify the price.

    Choice home warranty is pretty much the same way. When I can finally get through to some one, they are all very apologetic, know all the right things to say, and then nothing. The home warranty was part of the home purchase paid for by the seller, so it must have been the cheapest one possible. They are the one who assigned the contractor, so to me they are at least partly to blame. To me this is you go for the cheap PRICE, THAT IS WHAT YOU GET.

    This company is horrible. Carried it for 8 years and finally our 15 year old ac broke. Choice tried to get out of it saying we didn't do any maintenance when the same people did the maintenance on it they sent out in the first place. Now they capped us at $1500 on a $5000 broken unit with the condition they drop us. This company should be kicked out of the US and sent to Siberia along with its band of illegals that work "phone support". INS should do an inspection here. Bunch of rude liars. The check has been in the mail for a month now. We were always on time with payments. STAY AWAY!

    I have contracted with home warranty companies in the past, so I'm not new to this. 8 months ago I switched to Choice Home Warranty since they were less expensive for the annual contract and the per service call visit. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! They are horrible! I called in my ice maker last Feb or Mar. It still isn't fixed or replaced! They are offering a buy-out that is 1/4 of the replacement cost. They are reducing the offer price by the cost of the repairs they have made to the unit in their attempt to fix it. WHAT?! The first service tech reported to me that it needed to be replaced. Now, months later, I still don't have an ice maker. I asked to cancel my policy - which is three years paid in full, and they are reducing it by the cost of all repairs they have provided PLUS a $50 processing fee. WHAT?! They are in breach of contract. What a rip-off!

    I called in a request to have my dryer serviced as it stopped heating on Sunday, October 12th. I was assigned to HK Appliance and while I did call to request service, I didn't get to speak with someone until Monday. When I was contacted I was told I couldn't be seen until Tuesday, Oct 14th. I was given a 3-6pm window, so I left work to ensure I was home. Unfortunately the HK tech was running late and called me at 5:45pm to tell me he'd be at my house by 7pm.
