    This company uses deceptive business practices and false advertising to routinely deny claims on technicalities. It doesn't matter what you think is covered, they will find a way to avoid paying for it. My claim was on a water heater that had started leaking and in addition to water damage (homeowners insurance covers the water damage and has been a great experience) I also need a new water heater. My claim was denied because CHW only covers mechanical components? My water heater apparently was never covered, despite specifically being advertised in my coverage brochure, because it is a water tank and has no moving parts. This is a transparent ploy to deny a valid claim.

    I cancelled my policy for a pro-rated refund minus a cancellation fee and the 45 service call fee. This company cost me over 200 dollars and I received absolutely no benefit. I wasted time, energy and money on an incredibly frustrating experience. Avoid this business at all costs. Just light your money on fire instead. They also spam your inbox with ads for coverage, as an existing customer, which is annoying. You can't block their spam as a customer, because you might miss pertinent emails about your account. Be prepared to use your delete button. Now that I cancelled my policy I can finally report them as spam!

    Called CHW in the morning of 7/6/15 concerning a leakage from the toilet tank in one of the bathrooms. I was assigned a repair outfit within minutes. They scheduled the repair between 2-4 PM the same day. An hour later they called to say that a truck in the area can be available in 40 minutes. I told them that sounded great.     My washing machine was very loud during the spin cycle and it was also leaking water from the bottom of the machine. I called in a claim Wednesday evening and I was very impressed with the professional customer service provided by CHW. The very next morning I received a phone call that my claim had been processed and forwarded to a local contractor. I contacted the contractor to make an appointment and they told me they were very busy but would still make time to come by and look at my washer.

    With a 30 minute notice as I requested they were able to be at my home by 11:30am the same day I had called for the appointment. The service tech was very nice, well kept and professional. After looking over the washer he explained the problems in detail and assured me CHW would be calling me with the details after he submitted his report to them. The very next day CHW called and explained that my washer was beyond economical repair and that they would be sending a check this week so I could purchase a new machine.     I had just switched warranty companies and had only had Choice Home Warranty for a little over a month when my air conditioner started blowing hot air. I called to put in a claim and got the standard message of a high call volume and a long wait however my call was answered in the next minute or two. Upon taking my information the agent gave me the name and number of a service technician to call. Since it was after hours she gave me the option to place an emergency call and then get reimbursed. I waited until the next day and called and the tech came out that day and fixed it. I just paid my $45 service fee and that was it. No problems. As I said I was pleasantly surprised.

    My experience so far has been very good. The only thing I would comment on is when my air conditioning broke, it took 4 days to schedule and get a contractor out to my house. However, I am not sure that is Choice Warranty's fault. Once the contractor came out they fixed the AC immediately and also noticed that I needed a fill up on refrigerant, which they gladly did.

    When your A/C dies in the desert it is a BIG problem. I called the claims department at CHW and was very pleased with the concern they showed on the phone. They sent the work order to Expert Cooling & Heating here in LV. They called me back within an hour and came out that evening and replaced the fan motor. I slept very well in a nice cool house.     I bought Choice Home Warranty December 2014. I called them for the first time on June 2015. The AC was just blowing hot air. Their tech came in and collected the service fee but he said he needs to perform a leak test to diagnose the problem and the leak test is not covered by the warranty. He demanded $300 to perform the test. I refused to pay him and he left. I called CHW and they said they will not pay for leak test. I found another company to perform the leak test for $155. I called CHW and I was advised to scan and email them the leak test result, and I did. I called CHW the next day and the rep said they have to talk to the tech who diagnosed the problem before they can approve any repairs.

    He said scanning and emailing is not enough. I wasn't told so by the first rep but anyway I got the tech to call them. Then I called again and that's when I was told all repairs are not covered. The rep said the leak is in the internal coil and that means the unit was not maintained properly and they will not pay for any repair. If a warranty wont pay to diagnose the problem despite collecting service call fee, and won't repair the appliance, then they are useless. CHW is in the business of fake advertisement to collect your money but will not provide any service.

    Pool pump & garbage disposal went out days apart. First it was the disposal that went. But I was in the process of fixing the pool. It had a crack in it, got that fix, then the pump went a day later. I was talking to one of my friends that made me get the warranty. I had forgotten that I had it.     I put a claim in on my dishwasher that is covered in my home by Choice Warranty. Within an hour of the time I placed the claim, I received a call from the people who were hired to do the repair estimate. They gave me a date and time within TWO days of my claim. Not only was it a quick response from the repair company, but Choice Warranty sent an email with ALL the information about the repair company within that SAME hour. I had never dealt with a warranty company that moved as quickly or as efficiently as Choice did. As it turned out, the dishwasher could not be repaired, so a replacement check is on its way to my home (for the amount of a reasonable replacement cost, and I was able to find a dishwasher for that amount.)

    I had a plumbing problem at my rental -- clogged drains. The technician went out and said because there was no in-house cleanout drain it wasn't covered. This didn't make sense to me. He said if I wanted it handled it would cost me $450, which seemed an outrageous price for some clogged drains. It wasn't brain surgery. So I called Choice and spoke with a supervisor I believe who advised me it's not covered. I said I have 3 house under warranty with Choice for 3 year contracts and I expect some consideration. Within a short period of time she got back to me and said they would cover it. It would cost approximately $250 and if I would pay approximately $100 of it, much better than the $450. The technician went out and serviced my tenant. But then I received a call from the tenant that the problem wasn't resolved. I recontacted the technician and he returned to the rental for a second time. Problem solved and I'm happy.

    We called in our claim for a dishwasher that wouldn't start. An e-mail for sent to us confirming our claim, and a technician was notified that day. He called and we set an appointment time for him to check out the problem. When he arrived, he was courteous and figured out the problem, and he notified Choice Home Warranty. Because the cost of repair on the 12 year old dishwasher outweighed its value, Choice will send us a "buy out" check to help on the purchase of a new dishwasher.     There is no way a customer would know what kind of HVAC system he has in his home (zone system, etc.). Hence, it does not make any sense if Choice Home warranty mentions in the contract that zone HVAC systems are not covered under the warranty. It would help if a representative from Choice could visit the prospective customer to ascertain the type of HVAC system and inform the customer accordingly prior to his signing up. **, the retention specialist @ Choice appreciated this and was fair to confirm that Choice would mail me a check for $150 (approx 50% of the cost of replacement of damper motor). This is really appreciated. In future, Choice representative should visit a customer's home prior to sign up and inform him of the times which would not be covered under warranty.

    I did not accept this but after I was sold by an aggressive, smooth talking sales guy from NJ who made me pay for the whole year they acted like a car warranty company who are known not to pay any claims. They 100% sold me on this policy, claiming how GOOD Choice is than American Home Shield. I told them AHS ALWAYS found a loophole to NOT pay a claim... and WOW, the 1st claim with CHOICE and they found a LOOPHOLE. I knew it... they are all the same.

    My upstairs AC stopped cooling. Called Choice Warranty and they sent a very unorganized and unprofessional Electrician who fumbled around, he blew sparks and said "OH the Wires got Shorted", then he said "OK I have fixed it." After I turned it on, the upstairs AC started working then he went outside, spent 15 mins on something then came and told me "OH the AC is not Cooling Now and now the compressor is gone Bad" and I said "OK, when will it be fixed." He said "They will call you." Guess what, they never did.

    When I called them they said OH the AC guy said that the Unit is not covered because I did not have it properly maintained. Choice will not cover the claim because they said that the Unit was Not maintained and asked me to Send in 3 Years of maintenance records WOW!!! What **. Why would One need a Damn Appliance Warranty when I am going to keep 3 Years of maintenance Records. The AC guy also BLEW Out the outside power switch and was supposed to come back and replace it. He Never Came Back... with Texas Heat and people dying of it... Choice Warranty will have to deal with the results of not fixing my AC as it affect my 92 year old Grandmother who has no AC in this heat.

    I am about to call and cancel my warranty and find someone else. What Choice warranty does not know is that I have an online Review Marketing and Reputation Marketing Company and I will make sure that I do a Press Release to 200 online major sites like Boston Globe, CNN and New York Times... which will then get syndicated to 500 other online sites and Viral with the Keyword Choice Home Warranty. Choice CLAIMS to cover any appliance no matter how old... right! They lie. A waste of money!

    My A/C went out in and around 6/25 and I called in the issue to Choice Warranty Claims. A tech was assigned from ** and he came out on 6/26. My husband was there to greet him. My husband was first told by Mr. **, he would be the one coming out to our home. However, Mr. ** sent out another tech who he was familiar with. The tech diagnosed the issue with Mr. ** on the telephone guiding him. My husband paid our $45 fee and he was told the tech had sent the information over to the Warranty Company to get authorization to do the work. The tech spent about an hour on our premises. We was told we would be contacted once the company heard back from the Warranty Company concerning authorization. Unfortunately, it has been extremely hot and we have asthmatic individuals in the home. So, we decided to stay at a hotel while we waited for some answers. Well, "NO ANSWER!"

    I called back to the Warranty Company on 6/30 to see what was going on with the claim. I explain the situation to the rep and she stated she would follow up, there was NO Diagnosis noted in the system. On 7/1/15 I received call from Mr. ** who wanted to come back out to our home to re-diagnose the A/C. Mr. ** went on to explain he sent a tech out who he was familiar with and the tech went to 3 other homes and they all had the same diagnosis; low coolant. Mr. ** went on to explain, this diagnosis is not covered under the warranty. I let him know I wish I had known. We were not told that. I could have had the tech search for the leak and bring the levels of to par. However, we were not told that information. Mr. ** stated, "He felt each house being diagnosed the same was not right so, he wanted to come out himself to re-diagnose." I admit, I was extremely upset about this.

    We altered our plans on Friday for the tech to come out and we had been waiting for days to hear back from the tech regarding the warranty company approval or next steps in the process. In addition, the only reason Mr. ** called on this day was because the Warranty Company called him for a diagnosis!!! My husband was with the tech and he remembered verbatim what the tech said the problem was. Yes, the coolant was said to be low, but there was 2 other things going on with our units. In fact, I wrote down the issues we were told along with the make and model of the units because I was looking into pricing and a 2nd opinion if in fact, I had to come out of pocket for the A/C. Therefore, I was not understanding what the real problem was and why we are 5 days in and no relief and no parts ordered if need be.

    I voiced my opinion to Mr. ** as I feel as a customer, I have every right to because I believe in customer service and customer satisfaction and in this situation it felt as if we were being bamboozled, disregarded and if our situation simply don't matter. Mr. ** tone was as if he was doing us a favor and as I indicated to Mr. **, I choose the Warranty Company because I wanted professional work done in and on my property if need be. If I wanted a jack leg mechanic, I would have went to the streets and found one. Mr. ** acknowledged he should have done the work himself. He went on to say everyone have to feed their families so he was sharing the work. I do understand that, however when it comes to something of this nature and people's health and well being are involved, it's important for the professionalism to over ride the need spoken of.

    In fact, the statement sounds personal to me and I did not purchase this warranty to personal with anyone. I am about Business and this was the sole purpose for taking on this warranty so that professional work could be done in my home if need be. I understand the tech may have installed in others places outside of Mr. ** business, but I did not sign on for Joe Blow Technician, I signed on to have professional services rendered if need be.

    I let Mr. ** know, I would be calling back to the Warranty Company and he accused me of starting trouble. He also indicated, he felt the problem was I think I would have to pay another $45. I corrected him and I let him know I read my contract and I am aware of how the program works. Therefore, the $45 was never an issue as I realize the cost of replacing an A/C unit. I research everything and this situation was NO Different. My concern about the entire matter was getting my A/C fixed, however, when Mr. ** called on 6/30 I realized there was a problem going on within his business. A Red Flag went up for me and I felt somewhere along the line, he did not have confidence in the skill of the tech he sent to my home.

    Therefore, at this point I was greatly concerned and I had questions and a red flag regarding his professional services and I let him know that. He then went on to tell me to call the Warranty Company and he was coming back to my home to get his parts. I was not aware of any parts he left at or on my property. Therefore, at that time I let him know he was not welcomed at my home and he is not taking anything from off my property. Again, red flags went up as many individuals have been stealing the copper from A/C units. I then called my husband who confirmed his tech did not leave any parts in our units.

    Mr. ** texted my phone and asked, "do I want the tech to come back to complete the job." I had already put a call into Choice Warranty and I let him know at this time the Warranty Company will be following up with him and he or his associates are not welcomed on my property. I went on to let him know if he comes on my property this is called trespassing and my home is under surveillance and we will be paying close attention. I also let him know if he removes anything from my property, this is called stealing and I will prosecute. I went on to let him know this situation may not mean much to him, but to us we are dealing with life and death as Heat is a Serious Issue to us for Medical Reasons. Heat is a Health Hazard for us.

    I also went on to let him know Customer Service and Customer Satisfaction is very important when running a business. I also went on to let him know I run 3 businesses and I would never do my customers like this. I let him know I am about Good Business and Good Business Practices and it's my right to voice my opinion when I feel I am not being treated fairly, taken advantage of, being ignored or something is not lining up correctly. Mr. **, then texted my phone and stated the following, "I think you have way more to worry about how I run my business. Like how your husband trying to leave you. He telling me all this stuff about how bad you treat him you're just not a good person. Everything happens for a reason. Hope you get help with the air and yourself as well."

    Well where is the professionalism in these statements. I don't know Mr. **. He is not a friend of mine or my husband. I have only met him on the telephone and on a business level through Choice Warranty and he wants to throw a low blow at me because of his choice to send an inadequate and incompetent tech to my home based on his own acknowledgement and words to me to perform a service in my home and on my property. WOW!!! I find this to be totally unprofessional, insulting, derogatory, offensive, repulsive, slanderous, disrespectful and rude! Yes, it did cause a problem in my household and on one of the busiest days of my month, I could not shake this foolishness and it has caused so much drama.

    The problem is all I set out to do was get my A/C fixed. I did not know I was paying into the disruption of my household and the disruption of my marriage and to top it off, my husband didn't say any of this. And when he approached Mr. ** about this, this is the response I got via text from Mr. **, "Hey I'm sorry ok, hope I did not ruin your day, all I was trying to do was get your air fix. You said some stuff to me and I said back stuff to you. I'm sorry ok. Have a great day. I know you're a amazing person, don't let your anger control you. Take care." All I want to say at this point is DAMAGE DONE, MR. ** and CHOICE WARRANTY!!!! I did not sign on for a Therapist, Insulter, Business Wrecker and or a HOME WRECKER!!! I signed on for a Home Warranty with Choice Warranty!!!

    All this other stuff is out of control. All I wanted to do was get my Air Fixed!!! If in fact, someone was really trying to fix my A/C in a timely manner a diagnosis would have been entered promptly and parts if necessary would have been ordered and perhaps the work order could have been completed by the 5th day instead, we are still at GROUND LEVEL 0 with a Choice Warranty Authorized Technician causing grief in my Marriage!!! Marriage is Sacred and it has nothing to do with Warranty Business!!! We have already been lied to by the friend familiar tech who was sent out in Mr. **'s place. And now, Mr. ** the owner of ** is now telling lies on my husband. And I AM suppose to be HAPPY! I am not suppose to be upset. I guess I am suppose to grin and bare it at my own expense and health. And Yes, accept this as a Favor from **!!!

    Well, I beg to differ. Where I come from Customer Service is #1!!! Customer Service Matter! And if I have called out your business as being unprofessional, why are you mad with me when all of your actions says the exact same thing!!!! But I am suppose to be happy! HAPPY where, my mother died from an ASTHMA attack! So, No I AM NOT HAPPY at ALL and the only help I need at this POINT is my A/C fixed. This was my purpose for reaching out to Choice Warranty who sent in their Authorized Contractor **. This is NOT a Game, it's Life and I find Life to be Precious.

    I never ever expected this much DRAMA, CONFUSION, DISRESPECTFULNESS and CHAOS from so called PROFESSIONALS!!     I am a Broker/Realtor at Keller Williams in the Woodlands. We have 450 plus agents in our office and sell a home warranty on ALL transactions. I personally bought Choice warranty last year since one of the realtors in my office thought they were a good company. THE WORST I EVER. I own 7 homes and these people pay for nothing. Our AC went out on my home. Choice warranty send out one of the AC companies they use. A few days later, I was notified that the item was not covered. The evaporator coil needed to be replaced and not covered; we spend $1800 to repair it ourself and paid for it. It has been about 1 month later and the compressor went out on the unit. We were told today, since the evaporator coil was leaking about a month ago before we replaced, they cannot pay for the compressor since it MOST LIKELY was caused by the evaporator coil.

    As I said, DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. VERY FRIENDLY ON THE PHONE BUT THEY WON'T HONOR YOUR CLAIM. I will turn them in to the Better Business Bureau and every review site I can find. No customer should ever be taken by companies like this one. I will start by mass emailing all the Realtors in the Greater Houston Community.

    After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to switch over to Choice Home Warranty. I spoke with a sales rep, outlined my current coverage, & added extra coverage for my pool. When it came time to get my pool repaired, they informed me I didn't have salt water pool coverage, which is extra, even though I was quoted for one, and I am paying extra for pool coverage. Apparently this is extra extra coverage. She then stated that it wouldn't cover the salt cell generator even if I had it. I would have to wait until next year. I was then transferred to a manager who informed me they don't even cover salt water pools, which is not what the sales reps will tell you. I called back to a sales rep just to see if I could get a quote with salt water pool coverage. He explained they do have it, it's extra. I am THANKFUL I can cancel this coverage and get a better company. Be REALLY careful if you have a salt water pool as you will get this run around like I did.

    Another one of those cheap company, who attracts people with economical rates, however, you will end up not getting peace of mind at all. It is probably one of the worst insurance companies that I have to deal with, reflecting almost no care for customers. Totally unprofessional and always trying to find ways to decline your claim.

    I called up their technician to fix my A/C unit, which apparently was running low on Freon. He showed up, prepared his initial report and called them for authorization to continue with diagnosis. They told him that he should run leak detection test, however the best part is that they don't cover that test... What a bummer!!! Which means, a $220 out of pocket expense. Even if you would pay for it, at the end you are still at their mercy whether they will approve the claim or not, even if the leak is inside the coil (as was the case), where there is no way, someone could have gone in and caused that leak purposely.

    Someone should sue them. Definitely not recommend to anyone to do business with them!!

    I strongly recommend future people to not subscribe to the services of Choice Home Warranty. I just got done dealing with my first claim which was an evaporator coil on my AC unit. They claim they cover this however, their response is that my copper tubing is rusty and so won't be covered. This is after I brought in a 3rd party to review the repair. Their representative came out. Didn't even go into the attic to look at the unit. Just said it was a leak and I would have to pay him by the hour to find the leak through leak testing one line at a time. I brought in a 3rd party HVAC guy and he went into the attic and looked at the unit and said, "Well, the leak is right here! You need a new evaporator coil unit." I had to pay for that visit as well.

    This company is not honest and fair. They advertise they cover the evaporator coil and yet won't. After 30 days of battle I am trying to close my account for a refund but according to "terms and agreements" I will only get a small fraction of what I paid. Even though this is the first time they have done anything for me. While on hold (which happens often) the recording advertises that you should purchase their warranty since equipment in your house will get old and eventually fail. Choice Home Warranty is here for times like this. This message is what they advertise. Their service is completely false from what they advertise. I either want my $1000 back or my claim covered. This is ridiculous!

    We purchased a Choice Home Warranty with our pre-owned home believing that we would be covered for unforeseen issues. Our AC unit began to fail. That's when the reality of the warranty began to surface. The evaporator coil had a leak. After submitting all of the documentation, they denied our claim due to "poor maintenance." They said because rust was present, our claim would not be paid. The pictures showed that the coils were clean but frozen and wet due to the leak. What came first: the leak or the rust from the ice caused by the leak? It was a no win conversation.

    Additionally, every time I called, I was given a different story about what they needed to review my claim. Each person I talked to added requirements... we just need pics... we need pics and invoice for test... we need pics, invoice and we need to talk to the technician... you should have used one of our technicians (their technicians wanted $100 more than others). Every time I called it was a new story. As always, beware of the fine print and research the heck out of it. They tend to gloss over the details until there is a claim, then they will hit you with those details like a hammer to the head. Caveat emptor!

    I am very please with CHW. My only concern is how they come about figuring a national average on the buyout on my washer. They offered me $300 on my washer that was purchased at $1000 not even 5 years ago. I find it very hard to believe I can find a washer in comparison to the one I had the amount they settled on.     I'm back again... Surprise. Third review here, all on the same company, and all the same rating... ANGRY!! This time I have a claim on my air conditioner. Again quick response and customer service put up with my ranting on their terrible company, no complaints in that area. Serviceman comes out, conducts his business. I get charged $195 for maintenance (because CHW does not cover the cost to keep your equipment in good working order), $100 to change out a broken thermostat (because CHW does not cover the cost to replace it), and $45 for the service charge (because that is what enticed me to CHW, the low service charge, and I am learning my lesson). Serviceman says one a/c unit needs repair and turns it off but the other one is great, he filled it with refrigerant and cleaned out the drain so should be good to go... Wrong.

    After he leaves, the temperature in my house begins to steadily rise and is sitting at 85+ degrees in my house now. This is on a Friday so I'm stuck with an overheated house all weekend because of course CHW does not send people out on the weekends but they do make calls to let you know that the claim you put in is not covered in their warranty. I'm told my thermal expansion valve was bad and is not covered under warranty and then my modular fan was physically cracked and arcing. So someone went out to my air conditioner and physically broke my fan? I know I didn't do that so... would this be a case for the police? "Hello police, I'd like to file a report that someone came and physically damaged my modular fan on my air conditioner"...

    Really, I am so upset right now, more so after having been in an overheated house all weekend. You get what you pay for and I am sadly learning my lesson on this. They do not vet their repairmen and they do not cover any parts or maintenance on your equipment, they certainly do not cover the replacement of any equipment per their advertisement.

    CHW boasts in their ads and commercials "that your appliances and things are eventually going to break or wear out." That made sense to me since my home was built around 2000. So I agreed Purchased their warranty for my home over the phone with a "sales person" that Never mentioned to me what they DIDN'T Cover. Just scenarios of how you would need them in a event that something would quit working for 1 reason or another.

    One Morning I woke up and we had no hot water so I called them. It was a Friday morning. Their 1st repairman was from about 80 miles away and couldn't make it until Tuesday to come check it out, So I asked them If they had "any repairmen closer." They called me back with a repairman from another state and about 50 miles away and he couldn't come until Monday. I am disabled and use Hot water to ease the stiffness and pain in my back, so I said OK to Monday, that my kids and I would take cold showers. So the repairman (very Nice and professional) came and checked out the 15 yr old water heater. When He called it in, and they said the policy does not cover the Hot Water heater tank if it's leaking, and they deny the claim.

    Well my argument is 1, I'm not a Plumber or Electrician. So looking at their contract, (that I received about 1 months after I signed up) I would think as a home owner that a (water tank) The Main component of A hot water heater, would be covered on a Hot water heater home appliance policy. 2, the technician that THEY HIRED said he can't be sure it's the tank but something is leaking and shorting out the WH, and as soon as he gave CHW his replacement price their demeanor changed instantly on the phone. The claim was denied Instantaneously. That it's in the contract that they don't cover leaking tanks??? What do you expect from 15 year old hot water heater.

    So my point is, What also Don't they cover??? What part is going to break on my fridge, or washer or Dryer, or God forbid Heating and air system. So they don't have to pay? Seems to me they are in business to deny all they can with Hidden exclusions in their contracts. And since I'm not a professional Plumber or electrician, How am I supposed to know? My suggestion is to get a contract before you buy over the phone, and take it to a heating and air guy, or a plumber to understand WHAT they DON'T cover. I bought this coverage for 1 reason, I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to pay for these repairs or worse replacement of big ticket items. Today I had to pay $600 out of my pocket to replace something I thought was covered, But wasn't due to their hidden exclusion in their "contract." In my opinion "THEIR" contract is to help them not you.

    We transferred from AHS to Choice this year. Immediately, I began to receive all kinds of home related advertisements and spam in my email. This was a put off, but could be overlooked in lieu of the cost savings. Now we just had an issue and called on the warranty to repair. On the phone, the representative began to tell me what would not be covered, to include leaks and things that are caused by 'lack of regular maintenance.' They said that a service tech would be sent out to evaluate, and if the issue was deemed not covered, then I would be responsible. Basically our drain pan in the attic was overflowing and the line needed to be cleared. This, apparently, was caused from a lack of maintenance, even though we had had a repair and service in October. They wouldn't cover the cost. Bottom line, read your contract. Lots of things are not covered that had been with AHS. We are returning to AHS and will cancel Choice.

The provider could decide they could not provide the service, so the CHW agent authorized me to set up the repair with the original installer of the unit who was able to come within an hour.     Oh my gosh. First, let me say how impressed I am with the service I received at Choice Home Warranty. Honestly, I was worried about submitting a claim - thought it would be a big hassle, etc. I went online Tuesday evening around 6:00 pm and filed my claim online (very easy) by 7:30 or so.     It's obvious that only 5-star ratings were put on the website because there is no way there isn't any other ratings after this experience. They were called to send out a technician to look at my air conditioner. The technician said the coils needed to be replaced due to the age of the system (12 years) and would recommend replacing the whole system. Well, I was going to go ahead and replace the system, knowing that I had to pay for part, etc. However, I expected to have CHW pick up some of the tab.

    Well, some operator (the reason I say operator is because it was obvious by the woman that called she was scripted on what to say and you could hear other in the background), she accused me and said I didn't maintain my system properly (she didn't know that and the technician didn't say that) and if I did, it would not need a new coil, etc. I said, "Is this a scripted statement that you are told to say when there is money that they have to put out?" She said "No", but I could tell and I know for a fact she doesn't know nothing about air conditioners.

    This home warranty is a joke. They are probably OK with small repairs, but when it comes to something big, they won't cover anything. They were rude and not personable at all. They asked the technician to go take a picture of the coil and before he even did that and submitted it, they refused to cover the anything. What a joke. I want to talk to a supervisor.

    Back in March 2015 I called Choice Home Warranty to report issue with microwave at my main home. The technician sent in reported stating that microwave had issue with magnetron and motor after sticking a cup of water in microwave. Choice denied the claim stating that the issues were under LG warranty for 10 years therefore would not service. After paying $45 for service call then refusing to pay $75 for the guy supposedly opening the microwave, I called LG. After two months LG granted me a courtesy repair only to find out that there was a burnt wire in the microwave which could have been covered by Choice. Choice hires shady technicians. They are out of New Jersey - are not customer focus. They take the word of the technicians and shows no remorse for the inconvenience or bad diagnosis.

    Choice Home Warranty refused to repair my AC Unit based on the disclaimer that I had neglected to have routine maintenance completed twice a year on my unit. When I submitted information showing that I had several repairs completed as a part of my routine maintenance, I was informed that changing a part does not qualify as a routine maintenance. As I continued to try and explain to the Customer Service Representative that the repairs were done as part of the routine maintenance of the AC unit the claims representative and the customer service representative, **, were extremely rude and refused to find a way to rectify my situation. The technician was difficult to reach by phone and showed up without and appointment time BUT he more than made up for it by coming back at the end of the day AND having the part on hand and fixing the unit in under an hour. My children and guest slept well!

    Plumbing service was received by two technicians of the contracted company, who were courteous, professional, and seemed knowledgeable. My problem was continuous running of the water from my toilet tank into the toilet. After their repair on a Thursday afternoon, I was informed to contact them for any related problems. I called the contracted company again on the next morning (Friday) to report I noted that continuous toilet water was running at that time much worse than it had been prior to their "supposed repair," with the addition of a loud, squeaky sound I witnessed cycling from the toilet area every 65 second (per my sweeping second hand watch).

    The company's listed contact / receptionist took my message & she informed that I would not be revisited until the following Monday morning -- between 8 am - 12 noon. I had to endure hearing the loud squeaking and the sound of the running water the better part of 4 days. I was reassured by the contracted company's technician that I shouldn't have any further problems; however, if I do not physically wiggle the toilet flush lever after flushing the toilet, the toilet water runs loud & constant. Sometimes, the lever must wiggled several times before the toilet running is rectified. I want to call the company again, but I'll consult CHW instead for a recommendation as to what to do next. I'm not pleased, overall, with the outcome of service as applied to my toilet. Thank you!

    They sent a serviceman out. He got lost. Could not follow driving directions. He was 2 houses away. Went into their home -- WRONG HOUSE. Finally got here. Gave his excuses, blah, blah. Takes picture of hot water heater. Used not 1 tool to open up anything. They said it was not covered. Poor, poor company. I explained I was widow and needed good, dependable people when I took out this policy, and there you go. PAID my money. No refund 'cause they fixed my dryer 2 months ago. Oh, he collected the $45 service charge. Such a joke. Do not waste your time or MONEY on this company.

    My a/c unit failed with a house full of company and I called Choice Home Warranty and the technician found that the condenser fan was bad but because the freon was low they denied the claim and ended up buying a new system because it was 19 years old. The technician said that Choice likes to deny many claims as "wear and tear". The manager ** was very rude and should not be in management if he talks to customers the way he spoke to me.

    I was told that my air conditioner could not be fixed because I didn't have it serviced, which is not true, so I then told them that I wanted a second opinion. So I called Sears who told me that they should have covered it because it was contamination in the coil. They then told me that they would need to talk to the service person who service my home from Sears. I gave them a copy of what he said on the receipt but that was not good enough. They wanted to talk to the actual service person -- so I had them to contact Sears, and they could not get in contact, so therefore they did not cover my air conditioner repair -- who said the same thing that the person they sent me from the company that they sent out said. I should have cancelled my policy then.

    The request and scheduling of repair was efficient and friendly. I was contacted the same day, 6/15. The AC units had been cleaned and serviced 9 months prior. I change filters every month and vacuum returns weekly. Units worked properly but now my upstairs is 86 degrees. Repairman said he was coming everyday until he arrived 5 days later at dinner time. He had an excuse each day. He entered the house, looked at interior units and attic. He did not open or inspect the inside units. No measurements were done on the inside machines. He said my filter needed to be changed and the exterior unit causing trouble needed cleaning. I suggested he check the interior machine. He declined. I paid $45 for half a job, plus the cost of cleaning. This did not correct my problem. My house is set for 72 and it is above 80 today. I am now starting the whole process over again.

    Saturday - May 16th at approx. 11:30 AM I called CHW frantically because I had a leak in the hot water pipe located in the attic and the water was coming thru the ceiling in my bathroom. They immediately gave me a plumber's name, Brian Plumbing. As soon as I hung up with CHW, I called Brian Plumbing. While I was on the phone, the claim was in their office - I would say in a matter of minutes, but it was really a matter of seconds. CHW referred me to the best plumber -- their office was courteous to a very overwhelmed customer.

    They walked me through the process of turning off the water from the outside spigot and was able to service me as soon as they possibly could on a weekend. I am so thankful that I have CHW.     When I called CHW to report that my washing machine had stopped working, they immediately scheduled a repair visit with a local respected company. The appointment was just 48 hours later.
