    I have been experiencing a problem with my heat pump since the beginning of March. The first technician that was sent was clueless to HVAC issues. The second tech was supposed to troubleshoot my system but didn't. This last time the professionals that were sent were a welcomed relief. Lilly LLC(Breck) diagnosed my heat pump, got it up and running properly and even found what caused the initial problem of burning smell. Breck has restored my confidence in CHW. I hope that any future experiences with CHW techs are a sign that are as good or better as this one with Breck and Lilly LLC.

    I wish you had service people in San Angelo. The 50 miles radius idea for service people doesn't cut it when your service person is a distance away. And it's the only service for that small town, they are less likely to make a run to me 30 miles away and service the hometown. I called my own serviceman because your person never called me. I saw in my contract where rust was not cover but I could find nothing on the drain. Your company treat me fairly. Because it was the first claim the representative said they were going to reimburse me $40.00 of the $85.00 receipt I submitted.

    I submitted a review from a phone conversation that was placed on 5/31/2015. The salesperson was rude as I tried explaining at this time I was only shopping around. When he was not satisfied with the call, he hung up on me. I have received numerous calls from a New Jersey randomized caller ID, which means I cannot block the calls since it continuously changes. I just received one from a salesman at 09:26am that wants to give me even more discounts for a company I cannot support. CHW also deleted my original post on 5/31/2015 for the original sales call. No wonder CHW rating is 4+ stars, someone is deleting the reviews.

    I made 2 claims within 2 months for my AC. The first claim resulted in a tech adding freon but telling me I had a leak but he wasn't allowed to fix it. The second claim, I cancelled and opted to have my AC repaired by a company who would ACTUALLY fix it and not give me the run around. Choice Home Warranty told me that I could submit a reimbursement claim. My AC was under manufacturer warranty and the parts were covered; however the labor and freon was not covered and I paid $1035. Choice denied the reimbursement based on their not covering warrantied items but labor and freon wasn't under warranty... only the evaporator coil. They offered me a $33.75 (one month credit of the contract). I regret choosing Choice Home Warranty and as a result of my dissatisfaction have cancelled my Choice Home Warranty contract today.

    I called Choice Home Warranty. Tech. came, can't find the problem. I help him to find out the problem. That was the solenoid valve inside the unit itself. Tech. walked out in few minutes. Choice Home called me and said that is not covered because solenoid valve. I told this is the part of the unit. They did not take it. Winter time I brought a valve and replaced myself keeping the old one for proof. Another time refrigerator not working. Tech. came, figure out the problem. Temporarily fix it right away. Was a heater in the evaporator coil. He ordered the parts came back in 2 weeks and replaced it.

    I went online and was contacted by ** - he helped me set up both hoes with contracts: TOTAL CARE PLUS ADDITIONAL ITEMS ON BOTH. Great CS skills and telephone etiquette. TWO CONTRACTS after telling him that I has AMERICAN HOME SHIELD and no desire to stay with them - as they quoted me one amount yet charged my card a DRAMATIC INCREASE (I had been with them for 3 days, no service calls or claims) - just checked my credit card balance and almost had heart failure. The only issue I had (and I WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN) - all my appliances were working just fine and to full capacity - I was not told that (his only hiccup) the contract took 30 days to activate YET I paid in advance in full on my credit card. He said he could not get back with us until Wednesday of this week because of his backlog. He gave some ideas about defrost the fridge and then plug it back in after several hours.     It went very well. The company contracted with Choice was an excellent company. Very thorough, very clean, very nice. I came from another warranty company that was more expensive and would not approve any repairs. Their contracted vendors were curt and always talking you into other repairs supposedly not included in the warranty. Choice Home Warranty sends you an email confirmation and then the contracted vendor (Mr. Appliance out of Carrollton, TX) sends you an email confirmation with a two hour window and a picture of the technician assigned. The technician also calls when he is on the way. Later, the vendor sends you a copy of the work order by email so you can have complete records of what was replaced. This company is a complete change from my previous company. My fees were zero because in my contract I had the first visit free. Future visits will be $45.00 per visit. Very impressed so far.

    During the rain storm in Austin last weekend I had a water leakage from the master bedroom ceiling. I called Choice Home Warranty customer service at night. They opened a ticket. Early in the morning I found them assigned a company to inspect the leakage. I contacted the company for inspection. I got the guy the next day, did very good job in inspecting the issue, took some pictures, and he said he will take with CHW. The day after I checked with CHW and the claim was authorized.     My AC was not getting cool and received a service call. I was told there was a leak in a coil and freon was needed in order to get the home a tad cooler until CHW approve the repair. I was told due to my unit being 13-14 years old, it was zero to none that the part would be located. CHW returned the call and said they requested pictures and they found the problem to be from corrosion which makes them not responsible. Not one time when the repairman was here did he indicate corrosion and I never saw the claimed pictures. I have had a leaking roof, they said it wasn't covered, I had plumbing issues, they said it wasn't covered. CHW pull things from the air and state "it's not covered due to." I will NEVER use CHW again and I am going to file a complaint so others don't get ripped off like I have gotten over the years!

    Very dissapointed with this company right now. I submitted a claim because my A/C was not functioning properly. A technician was dispatched and it was determined that my system had a leak. Leak detection is not covered as stated in my policy so I paid out of pocket for the detection (no problem). Technician then spoke to Choice Home Warranty and he was given an authorization number to do the job and replace my coil, other parts not covered I would have to pay out of pocket (no problem). The next day I get a call from Choice Home Warranty stating that my claim is now being denied because my coil was dirty and prevented air flow therefore causing my system to leak. Now I am no expert but neither am I stupid. In the pictures that I have uploaded you can clearly see that my coil is not new but it is not what I or the technician considered dirty.

    Since I had already scheduled to have him come do the job he was stunned when I told him the claim was now being denied. It is unbelivable and unfair how they can deny my claim just on the basis of a picture. The tech did not think the coil was dirty and he was the one that took the picture. No appeal process just whatever they say goes period. It was nice paying the low annual premium and the low 45 dollar service fee, but I guess you get what you pay for. Cheapest isn't always the best - lesson learned. To think I left American Home Shield for Choice Home Warranty in order to save a few dollars. I will soon be going back to AHS or looking at other options. I feel that I was betrayed by Choice Home Warranty. Thank you.

    Buyer, beware... I had a three-year policy that expires in March of 2016. I sold my home and called to cancel my policy. They said there would be no refund. WTH? Then tried to argue that they deduct my claims against any balance if I cancel my policy. When I pushed back he said, "OK, you are right but there is still no refund." And in his words, "There is no value left there." He did however offer to extend this to my new home which I explained hadn't been purchased yet. I said, "How can you do that since my current policy doesn't have any value left?" I think you see where this is going...total rip-off. Run!!!

    I have been trying to work with CHW for almost a month concerning a failing AC compressor that makes a hammering noise so loud you can hardly sleep and I get complaints from neighbors. The CHW ridiculous claim that this is not a mechanical failure and they refuse to cover it unless it blows up completely. Seems like a scam to avoid honoring their warranty claims. For the money I have already spent for this so far useless warranty I could have paid for a new compressor. First the supposed "technician" assigned never answers the phone, never calls back, never answers messages after a week of waiting. It took three days to get a hold of the second technician assigned to look into this problem. This "technician" made promises to call and discuss the problem and repair, but I never heard a word from him.

    After another week and three phone calls I finally got someone at CHW to answer the phone to tell me they are "reviewing" the claim. Five days later I call and get a refusal to honor any warranty claim because there is not a "Mechanical failure." Then WTH would you call a failing compressor making as much noise as a Detroit diesel? This is not a mechanical failure? I should wait until it blows up? I believe CHW is a dishonest company and will find and use any twist of wording they can to avoid honoring their promises and commitment.

    My HVAC system froze up on Sunday for the first time ever. I freaked out and could only see $$$$ signs. I immediately thought about my homeowner's warranty.     My water heater in the garage leaked. We noticed it was leaking because it water went through the wall and got the carpet soaking wet on the other side. I called and filed a claim. A few days later I called again to follow up on the claim and it got denied because it was the tank that was leaking. They say only components and parts are covered. I looked around and most of the companies cover tanks and will pay to replace it. I paid for a total package and it doesn't even cover replacing a water heater tank which is why most people buy these warranties because of this kind of uncertainties. For the amount that I paid for this warranty, it is not worth it. Very disappointing. Please choose carefully because there are other better companies out there that offer more.

    We are new to home warranties, & obtained a policy on the advice of our USAA home insurance as an "extra" assurance. We narrowed it down to 2 companies, Choice Home Warranty, and 2-10. Needless to say, we should have gone with 2-10. You definitely get what you pay for, and If I could rate lower than 1 star, I would.

    Our a/c stopped cooling on Sunday around noon (5/31/2015). After my husband checked the usual stuff (filters, freezing, etc), we needed a technician. Our home was 77 degrees. I called, and could not even get through due to 'excessive call volume'. The message said to "go ahead and file a claim online" --simple right, NO! Filed the claim around 2:30 pm. Never heard back, anything. Called and decided to hold. After almost 30 minutes of holding, I got what I THOUGHT was customer service. The young man advised me that he saw the claim, and it was forwarded to dispatch.

    Needless to say, IT WAS NOT. As it turns out, Choice Home Warranty has a what amounts to an answering service on the weekends. Dispatch does not even work on the weekends. I found this out when I called Monday morning and held for another 25 minutes after being told in a condescending way, "We are not an emergency service as it states in your contract ma'am. Would you like me to read it verbatim for you, we have 4 days on a weekend call, and 2 days during the week to respond to any claim." I politely told the young man I never received the contract via mail, and he told me, "Well, you can download it ma'am, as well as our policies."

    The end result, we were finally assigned a technician, Milton's Service Co., who only has a 24 hr answering service, and NEVER called us back. After calling Choice AGAIN, they told us, "If you get your own technician, we will be happy to reimburse you. Just call the 'authorization' department BEFORE the work is done and we will re-assign a new technician in the meantime, and dispatch will call you in 2 hours if they have not assigned anyone to update you." Sounds simple doesn't it-- NO.

    Called a local a/c guy.. came right out within an hour. Freon was low. Had my technician call.. held for over 40 minutes waiting for 'authorization' to come on the line. Finally, they politely told us that not only are leak tests not covered, the valve that he suspected needed to be replaced would not be covered without proof that it was the cause of the possible leak! Bottom line, I am the caregiver for my grandmother who is 86 years old. We cannot have her in our home suffering that way, and we had already stayed in a hotel Sunday night.     I not only paid out of pocket for the leak test and service call, but I never heard back from Choice Home Warranty until 8:00 pm last night with a new technician. Of course it didn't matter at that point. My guy had us up at running at my cost. But money is not the issue, it is the joke of this company and lack of compassion and the complete runaround they gave me and my family. Take the advice of this Company's own employees, READ THE EXCLUSIONS from service in your contract ladies and gentlemen, or you too will be screwed!!

    Compressor on my A/C went out. Service company came out and stated that the compressor is no good (unit is 16 years old.) Choice called today to tell me that the compressor prematurely went out. And that it was not covered. But I could have another service company come out and check to make sure it was clean and there was nothing else wrong with unit and they may change their mind. In the five years I have had them They have only fixed one thing. They do not want to pay and they worm their way around paying a claim.

    I recently had an issue with the repairs on my dishwasher being covered by Choice. I was not satisfied with the decision and I wrote a review. Within 30 minutes, a Choice Consumer Advocate called me and discussed the situation with me. After reviewing the issue, she was able to resolve the issue and I was very satisfied with the outcome. She was very helpful and made me feel like my opinion did matter!! I don't recall ever having a company call me immediately after a review and working to resolve the issue so that I, the customer, was happy. For this reason, I would highly recommend this company. I've had others and NEVER received this type of customer service.

    Exactly what I predicted would happen, happened. Choice 100% sold me on this policy, claiming how much better Choice was than American Home Shield. I explained to them AHS ALWAYS found a loophole to NOT pay a claim... And wow, 1st claim with CHOICE and they found a loophole! I knew it... They are all the same. My dishwasher went out and now Choice will not cover the claim because they said it "most likely wasn't in good working order" when I started the service. Well the dishwasher worked just fine until last Monday and it just stopped working. It's older but it has always worked great. Choice CLAIMS to cover any appliance no matter how old.... right! They lie. A waste of money!

    They sent a technician from One Call A/C, who was very very young and inexperienced. He didn't spend hardly any time looking at my a/c and just said it was, but as long as the fan unit was running, CHW wouldn't do anything; EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T COOLING. The technician also said, he's heard the same complaints repeatedly from customers. I called CHW's Supervisor and sure enough, they said as long as the unit is running they will not do anything. So my house is 88 degrees and I have to go out and get a window unit around my work schedule and pay to have someone install, to stop sweating. The Supervisor was also very short and difficult on the phone.

    I called my maintenance provider, they came out, checked everything, said I was low on Freon. They said, "It's fixed, it will shut off in a few minutes." 4 hours later, it was still running.     Choice divides the plumbing issues into drain stoppage and plumbing system. So if you have drain line stoppage and leaking sink, you will need to file 2 claims and pay 2 service fees. I think the policy is ridiculous. If both claims get assigned to the same service company, then one service fee will be waived. Only thing stopping 5 stars was the inconsistency of the repair man chosen; had to call the company several times to get him to return my call and it took him about 2 weeks to do a job he could've completed in less than 1.     My tenant, on March 17, 2015, first reported an oven-microwave wall unit not turning off completely when he came back from work, almost causing fire. So I called the CHW and repairman came by couple days later. The repair man told us the appliance is old (little over 10 years) and GE ceased to produce its parts, therefore the whole unit needed to be replaced, and CHW didn't respond nor call us and let us know what they are going to do. Finally wait a several days I called them, and they gave me an options: Buy-outs - $350 or waiting till April to them to find a parts. First week of April and almost every week or so I called them the progress and they kept saying no updates and at the end of April, I get mad at them and tell them do something about it as they promised, because my tenant wasn't happy about not having the oven at home.

    And again they offered buy-outs, this time $550, from claims manager. And I told them if they can't find the part, replace it, as they promised to do so. But she kept saying it is repairable, so they can't do that, so we argued without any action towards repairing it. Then the couple days later, the CHW rep called me and sudden tells me that they have the parts and will send to the repair guy within 7 days or so. We waited, waited, 2 weeks later I called them again what was going on, and the rep told me repairman has the parts. Then we called repairman, number of times, he will say, "this afternoon", "tomorrow", "will make a schedule" etc. The oven never got fixed till today.

    Also, One of AC unit wasn't turning on first week of May. Again my tenant filed and repairman came out. He told us the reverse valve is bad, but he can't fix only the reverse valve, the whole unit needed to be changed. So he reported that to CHW, but no response. Several days later I called them and asked them the progress, the CHW rep said they won't do anything about it because reverse valve is not covered some number .c , says in the contract etc. I said to them "if I replace the reverse valve, because it is not only reverse valve the problem, would you cover it all?" He didn't say anything but reverse valve is not covered. So I called another repair man and his opinion was the same, can't fix the reverse valve only.

    So I called the first repair guy asked him any paper work he submitted, he said no. Everything is done verbally and he reported exactly what he said to me. I called CHW again asked them I'd like to see the report from the repair guy, and they said the same thing - no report to send to me, because it is all done verbally.

    We filed a claim for the compressor icing up on 5/10/2015. As usual we had a claim number and the service technician was there within 24 hrs but at 4:30 PM Pacific time. Choice Home Warranty's claims approval line closes at 5:00 PM eastern time. Our service technician stated that the unit was worn out and it wasn't economical to repair. They submitted another claim to Choice Home Warranty for repair/replacement of the compressor unit. 5/12/2015 Choice Home Warranty sent us a message that they were working on getting a repair technician assigned. 5/19/2015 we received an email from Choice Home Warranty asking us to call them ASAP in regards to the repair. On 20 May 2015 I called the number they asked us to call.

    I was told by their representative that the REPAIR Technician stated the compressor unit had failed due to premature failure. He stated it was caused by abuse or improper installation and that these units are designed to last over 30 years. Now the mobile home they were working on was built in 1972 that is over 42 years of age. We have proof of annual servicing ever since we first moved into the home in 2008. We have had problems with the deicer failure as the units wiring had worked loose twice before the technician soldered it in place. However, the unit was placed in a location where it couldn't be hit by anything and has functioned well for 40+ years. So how can that be premature failure?

    When to my air conditioner stopped working, I called for service. They told me it had a leak that in order to run a test on the I had to paid to have done. They don't cover the leak test. Which is the only way to tell what is wrong with it, so I paid. Then, they tell me they don't cover the problem since it had a leak. Do yourself a favor and don't even think about getting a contract with them. Choice Home Warranty go out of their way not to pay.

    If you're considering buying a home warranty, I highly recommend you DO NOT BUY from CHW. This company goes out of its way to NOT PAY a claim. In good faith, I purchased coverage for my home, which includes all systems (HVAC, etc.) and appliances. If you read the policy documents closely, you'll see that CHW has figured out what fails most and excludes it from coverage. My first attempted claim was for a microwave that had the door stuck closed (with a dish of food in it). Turns out that the handle mechanism broke. Guess what!! The door handle or anything to do with the door isn't covered.

    Next, my A/C unit failed. The technician determined the compressor locked up. Now this unit has operated with no problem for 11 years. The unit has not been abused nor neglected. CHW denied coverage because they say the life of a compressor is 18 years. My unit is 11 years old, therefore it failed prematurely. COVERAGE DENIED!! I escalated to no avail. The 3 claims folks I spoke with were extremely argumentative. They are well trained in "Coverage Denial". Those are my words, but, as you can tell, I'm very angry about it. I checked their BBB record in N.J. and they've had over 940 complaints. I added mine to the count today. They claim to be governed by the Insurance Commission of N.J. I'll be checking that out and filing a report with them, as well. There is NO WAY CHW has a 5 Star rating with Consumer Affairs. NO WAY!! This rating has to be a total manipulation. DO NOT BUY THIS COVERAGE!! You'll be highly disappointed.

    I called Choice warranty about toilet stoppage, sink stoppage & a leak from my bathroom leaking into my kitchen ceiling. They sent a plumber. I am in Delaware but they send plumber that is 3 hours away in New York. By the time he gets to me at 11 he really does not want to be bother with leak that is happening in my kitchen. He fixes the toilet stoppage & the sink stoppage but now I have paid my $60 service fee & still do not have my leak fixed. He cut out the ceiling but said it is not cover - all pipe should be cover. I did not care if he could not repair dry wall just need leak to stop. Normally when cutting out drywall they do even cut. He just tore it out so cannot reuse. He was not too pleasant. This is what you get when they don't get someone local to do the work. Very dissatisfied. I called Saturday after off from work - on hold 30 minutes then tried back. Got recording they are closed.

    MY AC WENT OFF IN THE HOT TX WEATHER. Notified customer service and within 2 hrs, I received a call from Air Cool - ** who assured me that he could make it same day but late. I didn't have a problem with that because that worked out perfect for me. My AC was up and running within 15 minutes of his arrival and as he gave me his receipt, he said "Do not hesitate to call my number if you have further problems with your AC." Very Reassuring!!!! Love CHW. Outstanding!! My years with First American were nightmare years.

    To all future/prospective customer, I want you to read this review before you decide to get home warranty through this company. I am an actual customer and I have made the biggest mistake ever and totally regret about this company. They will not pay for your claim. They will find a way not to pay the claim. They will make a lot of excuses not to pay the claim. I am telling the truth and nothing but the truth. Please buy somewhere else if you don't want any regret at the end. I have learned that people who make a good reviews are either working with them or related to them to get customers. People who made bad reviews are the actual customers like me based on our experience. Don't get hook for their false statement that everything is covered...ya, right! Again, I am an actual customer and I am telling the truth based on my experience. I am trying to save you money and stress.
