    After returning home from church on 23 Aug I noticed the air not working properly. I immediately contacted Choice and started the repair process. On Monday, 24 Aug I made contact with my repair technician. Tuesday, 25 Aug repair technician came out to diagnose the problem. They proceeded to tell me what was wrong with my AC unit and started telling me that Choice was not going to cover my claim. The technician got my unit working but I was so frustrated by all the negative he was saying about this company that all I kept thinking about was what the technician was saying that it would cost me approx $700.00 to take care of. I left my house and came back 4 hrs later to the same problem - AC not working.

    I contacted the assigned company, they sent another technician out and I was told the same thing again that my claim was going to be denied. I went to bed in an uncomfortable house again, so on Wednesday I called the company and finally got through to an Angel by the name of Kiarra. She listened to everything that I had to say, told me that she would personally take care of me. Today, I'm sitting here waiting for a repairman. Thanks to Kiarra, the claim was approved and I should be with air soon. I came to Choice after a 8 year contract with American Home Shield which was terrible. I will recommend Choice to everyone!     I am very impressed with Choice Home Warranty. We had a major issue with our refrigerator, and I called at 11:00 p.m. one night and was able to put in a claim with a live agent with a very minimal wait time. CHW called me at 9:30 a.m. the next morning with name and number of a service company. I had a tech at my house at 2pm that same day. While he could not fix the issue himself, he called his office and got support on the phone, which helped him to fix the wiring issue.     Company has denied coverage for claim on both my home and vacation property air conditioning systems and low balled a settlement offer on each. In one instance of a heating element, Choice declared that parts to repair were unavailable so a token payment was offered. Nonsense! You are home warranty of appliances. You fix or replace! In the present instance, a coil leaked freon, which they themselves authorized replenishment in May (per Regina, consumer complaint handler who will yell back at you if you exhibit dismay). Now they refuse repair or replacement service for the same leak they alleged responsibility earlier. They offered $250.00 to go away.

    I asked for legal arbitration for this matter and I get an angry person who declares that I didn't deserve service because I did not service my units properly, despite informing her that my business owns over forty units with air conditioning systems with preventive maintenance programs. Now I have to write a letter to TRACY, A CONSUMER ADVOCATE who may respond in 24 hours to set up arbitration or try to con me into a settlement. Too bad LIBERTY MUTUAL is not in the home warranty business. And you can imagine how much they care that my wife and I are elderly and without the functioning air conditioning unit in 100 plus degrees of Texas heat for five days now. Do you need a moral to this story?

    So we just changed over to Choice Home Warranty, as I was extremely disappointed in the customer service of our last one. From the beginning everyone I have spoken with has been extremely helpful and friendly. They offered a great introductory rate to join, a low call out fee, so I went with them. I had my first call out on an AC unit. The company they hired to do the work was very good, showed up when they said they would, and looked at both of our units. He spend time going over all of his findings, and stated he would have to call into Choice to get the approval. After several minutes, he stated Choice had approved the service and wouldn't charge me a second service fee for the 2nd AC unit! Now this is customer service which didn't happen with the last company I had.

    I can honestly say from the minute I put my claim in online, I had communication immediately. They were updating and having the service provider call me within 1/2 hour of putting my claim in. Wow, keep up the good work. I appreciate not having to "haggle" over my claims. This group appears to be a keeper and no wonder they have great reviews on Consumer Reports!

    Called for Repair on Monday, 8/24, morning. Had been without A/C since Sunday (in Tucson, AZ - house temp. 91 degrees. Brooksaire was selected for the repair.     We purchased a home warranty program with Choice Warranty over the internet in April of 2015. Prior to obtaining the warranty, we specifically asked if there were any "hidden" requirements for coverage due to the age of the equipment, and specifically discussed the A/C as it is the largest covered item. We received this email from them prior to the purchase: "As per our conversation, since you are coming from AHS with past issues on your AC system. As long as your AC system is in working condition when ours takes affect; it will be covered by us."

    BASED ON THE ABOVE EMAIL we purchased the coverage. We have the house rented at the present time. On or about August 18th the AC stopped working properly and we notified Choice Warranty to turn in a claim. After the tech went to the property, a denial has been issued by Choice Warranty due to the age of the unit, it is too young to have gone out according to them. We asked for a second opinion and was told Choice Warranty does not accept second opinions. Supposedly a letter of explanation is forthcoming. Choice Warranty refuses to get a second opinion and will not repair the unit.

    When you send out a company to fix a problem but need 24-48 hours to decide if you're going to fix it is ridiculous. Then after 48 hours I am told that it's not a covered repair. When I call in and tell you that I have a leak inside my house, why wouldn't you tell me then that any leak on a inside faucet is not a covered part. Instead you have me take the day off and wait for a contractor to come for something you know isn't even covered. POOR BUSINESS.

    If there is a zero star then I would rather give it to this company. They are a total fraud. I have purchased a warranty from them in July 22, 2015. The warranty got activated from Aug 22, 2015. Unfortunately my AC suddenly stopped working on Aug 25, 2015. I have called them and they sent a technician. The technician charged me $45 to come and inspect the unit. He inspected and confirmed that the compressor blew off. He also told me that it is a regular failure which can happen anytime. However, before even calling back to this company he told me that this warranty company is very fishy and they never settle any claim. However, in front of me he called Choice Home Warranty and told them that it is a regular failure of the system. But moment Choice Home Warranty heard that the unit needs to be replaced and they refused to repair it saying it is because of a pre-existing condition. Also refused to explain what does that mean.

    I; once again am very angry with Choice Warranty. I have had a few claims with Choice since purchasing this house in 2012. I cannot remember one time that it did not end up in a battle to get things done right. I don't know if they have different people handling claims in different areas but we must have the worst of the worst. I will focus on the latest claim which is for a dishwasher. Choice sent a tech out that was unable to repair the dishwasher. Regardless of why; the fact is, he could not repair it. In this case, it needed a new computer and touch pad. The touch pad apparently is unavailable; which means it cannot be repaired. Pretty simple, right?? Not if you twist and turn the not able to be repaired into 'part not available' which still means it can't be repaired but to Choice that means something different. I spoke with some very rude people at Choice; which I expect after the history they have shown me.

    On a previous claim; Roto-Rooter Sat in my driveway as I argued with 'Russ'; he had me so upset that I broke down when I went to tell Roto-Rooter what he had said. Today, I get the pleasure of Russ answering the call when I asked for a manager or supervisor. In my opinion; the man is ruthless. Back to the dishwasher. Even though they convince you to buy into their contract by advertising "if we can't fix it, we will replace it" this means they will give you a few dollars towards it. Not even half of what a dishwasher cost; so they are not 'replacing' it as they say. I will be lucky to find a bottom of the line dishwasher for $500.00.

    They think I should accept $180.00 which the lady I spoke with before "russ" said she could escalate to. $230.00; still not nearly enough to replace it. If I had not spent close to $700 for this warranty; I could buy the dishwasher. Don't waste your money with their warranty; unless you want your blood pressure to raise every time you call them.

    I signed up for a five year agreement with certain promises from the Salesman. I tried to cancel and spoke to the termination and was told I would not receive a refund. I have had horrible services and vendors and highly recommend that you do not purchase a policy. The vendors are rude and do not fix the problem and instead of replacing the appliance. They send a check that doesn't cover the price of the appliance. I would recommend not purchasing a policy from this company. They are rude. Do not fix the issue and the salesman was not honest with me.

    I recommend shopping for a different company and STAY FAR AWAY FROM CHOICE. I should not have purchased a five year policy. Anyone else have issues with this company? I think you should put this on so other people are not lied to. The salesman just wanted his commission. Customer Service is rude, vendors are not qualified and instead of replacing an appliance, they send you a check that doesn't even cover the price of replacement.

    Today was my first claim with Choice Home Warranty. I called customer service last night, and this morning I got a call for an assigned company. That company told me they don't service my area. So I called Choice Home Warranty and spoke with Jenay and she put me on hold, and told me that I can call my own repair, and wait for reimbursement because I don't want that other company coming out. WHAT? I told her, "That is not what I said," and then she said the earliest they can come out is on Thursday, and that they are doing me a FAVOR for penciling me in. Jenay proceeded to tell me that those companies have their own business to run and customers to take care of, and again it was a favor that I was even penciled in on Thursday.

    I asked to speak to someone else, she transferred me to Andy who said he was a supervisor, and he pretty much said the same thing as Jenay, about Thursday only if the company does not have something come up. I was penciled in for Thursday, and if something comes up, then another company would be dispatched. I told him that I was waiting for that company to call me back, and he said, "They penciled you in, and they are the earliest appointment you can get." Then he proceeds to tell me that it is the summer, and everyone wants repairs, and that I am just going to have to wait. And just because it was my refrigerator, and yet he does not even know who Jenay was. When I asked, he flippantly told me, "How could I know when we have 200 employees here."

    He wanted to remind me that they are not an emergency repair company. He also said that their computer system knows who has the least amount of scheduled appointments and that is how I was assigned. I told him that all the food was going to spoil in the freezer, he said they are not responsible for that. After those two conversations, I called back and spoke to Yani, who said she would check into it, and forward it to dispatch. I also asked her to speak to someone else in charge and got Regina an escalations supervisor. I shared all of this with her, after being on hold, she told me that the first company that was assigned to me does not even service our area, and that I would receive a call and email with the next service provider. And that she would look into the other situation.

    So this is how my FIRST service call has gone. Not to mention Jenay and Andy did not want to provide me with any further information to get assistance or other phone number, they just said, "Call the number that you called earlier." When I had asked Jenay for her to repeat her name, she told me that she already mentioned it. Wow. Are they sure they want her on the customer service phone line? That girl should not be working with customers with that attitude, and Andy should follow her out the door. He was not better and did not offer a solution to resolving my service claim. So 1 1/2 hours later of trying to find some kind of resolve I wait for a phone call and email as for service. I hope the escalation supervisor Regina does something about Jenay and Andy.

    I recently had some problems with my master bath toilet and kitchen sink so I called Choice early Monday morning, like 5am. My call was answered quickly, the service rep recorded all my concerns and read them back to me, and gave me an order number and the name of the plumber who would be helping me. A few hours later, the plumber called to schedule their visit for the following morning at 9am. The plumber arrived right on time and immediately got to work diagnosing the issues.     I had a leak in the water heater. First they assigned a company that doesn't cover New York City, then they said that in water heater the water heater tank itself isn't covered. If you read fine print in all systems that they claim to cover the main thing that breaks is never covered. This home warranty is a fraud. It gives you a false sense of security, but in reality leaves you exposed. If you want to waste money, go ahead and buy warranty from the CHOICE.

    We had a couple leaks (sink, toilet). When plumber came, other problems had developed, and it became a domino effect... Because we live in a very rural area, contractors were a distance away.     I have paid in full for my home warranty up to 2018 to this company. My air condition was broken. It is very hot in Phoenix Arizona. My 12 years old suffered for 2 weeks in extreme heat and no cooling system. After few calls and requesting service from Choice Home Warranty, they finally sent someone which put all excuses on the invoice for improper maintenance!!!

    I have contacted the customer service, spoke to few people including the supervisor and the manager. But they both insisting that I didn't take care of the equipment and it won't be covered.     Same day contact by Brian Plumbing with schedule for the following day. The plumber appeared as promised and was able to unstop the sink and the toilet. The sink with greater difficulty. When asked about the possible cause of the problem was informative, explaining that the sink problem was caused by A/C overflow being routed into the plumbing line causing a gummy sediment which in time created a blockage. Especially appreciated was the suggestion to use an agent like Clorox to keep the line clean. The toilet was caused by an accumulation of toilet paper collection over a period of time - suggestion for care, use a more solvent paper and agreed that the water saver tank probably contributed. This type of informative dialogue was greatly appreciated.

    I am a Retired U.S. Marine Veteran of 25 years and I take care of my 73 year old mother. And I find Choice Home Warranty's way of doing business and customer support is disgusting, however quite convenient for your company. Your support in April prior to my mother's policy running out was great, however as soon as I renewed her policy your support has been lacking at best.

    We're going on 7 plus weeks where CHW has yet to make a decision and continues to ask for information, adds or changes something each time we speak or plays oblivious. It is not you calling me, it is me calling you. CHW's care shows through, in your 2 calls in six weeks, and this was even when something more was needed from me. Each and every other call I called trying to stay on top of this situation and CHW nothing. Due to the heat and no AC in the kitchen side of her home, so she cant' cook - it's too hot - I've had to send her to my Aunt's one week, to my sister's another week. She's spent a couple of days at my other sister's home. My husband and I purchased a window unit for her bedroom... and now looks like I'll have to send her somewhere again this coming week as temperatures are on the rise again.

    I have never dealt with this type of lackluster customer service by company before. It's shameful. Your customer service representatives don't know what's going on even with the file in front of them. WHY? Because they are taught to reply with automatic comments putting the customer off. They are not helpful in getting matters resolved. However they are good at putting you on hold, transferring you, or sending you to someone else, supposedly a supervisor who requests more information or also puts you off. Each time I have to re-explain and bring everyone up to date. Perhaps your training should teach your representatives to read the file and get an idea and update of what's going on before volunteering automatic responses.

    CHW also contracts with some of the cheapest and unreliable technicians. The last two years dealing with techs from your "network" has been an experience and adventure. Last year's AC technician kept putting us off and after a week of rescheduling and chasing him down, I called for a new technician to be sent out. However the entire time this gentleman was here, he was on the phone. When he finally returned, after a week, again he was on his phone and the whole time and it was drama between his wife and son. Then my mother's washer stopped working. CHW's tech said my mother's Maytag, which wasn't that old, couldn't be fixed or it would be TOO EXPENSIVE. I called my own technician and had it repaired for less than $160, which is still working perfectly - and didn't even file a claim against her policy.

    This year, April 2015, my mother's AC stopped cooling again, and again we called CHW. Again one of your "network" technicians showed up, filled the AC with coolant and said it was good, but said a solenoid or relay was broke and had to be repaired. Supposedly it was repaired. July, my mother's AC unit stopped cooling again and CHW sent another technician out. Upon his arrival, I provided him with the April paperwork. He informed us that the technician from April had put the wrong coolant in the AC unit and the solenoid/relay that was supposed to be replaced was not new.

    As I'm calling CHW, he is calling his boss - the real technician "apparently". While I'm on hold w/ CHW, the tech tells me he made a mistake. His boss said R22 was correct. So clearly, I realize he's not a technician, or at least not a very good one. Additionally, he had his girlfriend and a friend with him. His girlfriend had been left sitting in the truck. It was so hot outside, I felt compelled to invite her in and give her ice water.

    Your network tech was troubleshooting my mother's AC over the phone with his boss between reading the former paperwork and going in the attic. They noticed the AC was iced over and couldn't really troubleshoot it until it has de-thawed and the moisture was out of the line. They left and returned the next day, a Saturday, only to tell us they weren't sure what was going on but thought maybe it may have a leak and there was still too much moisture in the line.

    Again they did what they were doing by talking to the "boss" over the phone. They informed us their boss would have to come check it out. So on Sunday, the boss came out and told us the unit had a leak somewhere and probably couldn't be fixed but he recommended the lines be "pressure tested" but more than likely it had multiple leaks and recommended we have it replace. That information and tech write up, in JULY, was passed onto CHW, however CHW said we needed to get a pressure test and that it was not covered by the policy.

    We attempted to get that done, however each time we mentioned CHW, the other companies wanted to do their own evaluation and that would be approximately an $85 service fee, then an additional fee to pressure test the lines. I called CHW and asked if I could get reimbursed for a service so that I could get the lines pressure tested. I understood I had to pay for the pressure test, but was told no on the reimbursement for the service call. So CHW and dispatched tried to find someone to come test them for us. 2/3 days later, CHW called me back and inform me they could not find anyone w/in their network to come pressure test the lines nor anyone who wanted to drive to our area and I could get my own technician. This was absolutely ridiculous and quite contradictory to what I had been told just a few days earlier.

    Anyway, I got the system checked and tested... NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE assessments from notable companies and yes paid service fees, cause I was frustrated with CHW lack of decision making and thought if I had 3 assessments from 3 different reputable companies that would allow CHW to make a competent decision. ALL THREE said there were leaks and the unit needs to be replaced.

    I sent the first one I received to CHW's claims email. It took several emails and a couple of phone calls to get your company to upload the file. In the end, it was not detailed enough for CHW. So, I sent the second assessment. Only to have CHW tell me they hadn't received the email. I sent it THREE TIMES! and it was NOT received conveniently three times. I have all my sent emails and never received a failed delivery. Upon numerous phone calls, I was told your company had email problems (over a week?) conveniently. Then it was perhaps the uploading of the files, which according to your representatives should be done in 2 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours... depending on who I spoke with the timeline changed. BOLOGNA! and BS!

    It took ME sending it three times and finally calling a supervisor, Mr. **, who gave me his personal work email and acknowledged receipt of the email. He got the technician's write ups submitted. He had been the first and still is the only person with any sense and support at CHW I've encountered. He, his personality, attitude and work ethic as it related to customer support should be the model for your company. Unfortunately and again conveniently for your company, I've not been able to have anyone connect me with him since only via email.

    Anyway, the tech from One Hour stated he and CHW talked last week or so, and he was asked to send a picture of the model/make/serial plate. That was done, however CHW never received the file... AGAIN!. So I sent it a few times and cc'd Mr. **'s email and miraculously it was uploaded. Then came the second phone call we've received from CHW. It was this week, 7 plus weeks into this situation, SEVEN!, that I was asked to have the tech send a picture of the air handler, the condensing unit, the make/model plate and coils. That is exactly what was sent, however not received, conveniently. So I sent 6 photos this week of exactly what I was told to send (cc'd Mr. ** again) and they were uploaded.

    I received an email a couple of days ago, stating the photos were being reviewed. Yesterday I received an email asking us to call CHW. I called today, only to be told by your representative that we needed to submit photos of the above... which I had to explain I had sent them, received confirmation they were being reviewed and had received an email to call CHW. I was put back on hold as always, to have another young lady come on line to tell me they need a photo of the leak in the coils... Ridiculous, Shameful and Pathetic how CHW continues to do this to customers! ANOTHER PHOTO?!? There should a check list or standard that is required for each assessment. If you all read the technicians write ups, you'd see the pressure testing apparently showed possible multiple leaks. I've done everything CHW has asked and each time it's something else. ENOUGH!

    I had multiple companies pressure test test the lines and they confirmed there are leaks. How do you take pictures of leaks that are pressure tested? Your company has to three writes, I have four and you have pictures of what you ask for. You shouldn't need anything more. Your company is stonewalling, and playing the waiting game. My mother's home has TWO IDENTICAL AMANA units for her home. They are exactly the same name type and model and year. One is working and one is not. The one that is not working has been recommended to be replaced by reputable, notable companies, and by your "network" fly by night good old boy technician.

    Because of the heat and no AC and your lack of taking care of your customers, I've had to send my mother to my Aunt's one a week. I sent her to my youngest sister's a couple of weekends and I sent her to my older sister's home, this past week. And now it looks like I'm going to have to send her somewhere again this week coming. This is SHAMELESS. She is a 73 year old lady and can't even cook in her own kitchen due to your company's continued lack of support, decision making and bureaucracy BS. We had to buy her a window unit just so she can sleep in her room. Is CHW going to reimburse us for that?

    Each time it's something new. If I haven't heard from a supervisor and someone who can make a decent decision tomorrow by noon I'm starting my own campaign to your company. As a 25-year U.S. MARINE, I know how to get things done and I can tell you, I will not be good for your business. Someone in the decision making position and with authority needs to call me, or I will be dealing with everyone at your Corporate Headquarters, CEOs, President and whomever else I need to involve. I'm not dealing with representatives any longer or shift supervisors.

    Was a customer of Choice Warranty since 2/17/2015. Never received warranty booklet, was verbally explained the items covered by the salesman. Called for repair 9/13/15 on my stove oven - wouldn't heat over 100. Repairman came. Paid the co-payment of $45.00. He replaced gas valve and had to order ignition switch. Returned 8/20 and installed gas valve part, heated the oven and left. My daughter noticed the oven wouldn't turn off so she called the repairman who returned and shut off oven and said he would need a motherboard? But he would ask his boss if the warranty company would cover the cost. He called me today 8/21 and said they would not cover the cost, said it was a secondary repair, which I still don't understand.

    After talking to their claims department and main office they were not going to cover the cost, I requested a booklet so I could understand what else they didn't cover since I don't agree with their conclusions. Notified the repairman to order the motherboard and I will pay for it since they wouldn't, I originally paid $1,039.00 for the stove and I needed to get it repaired. After the booklet on the warranty arrives I will examine it and then decide if I will continue to have them service my account.

    We paid for our home warranty policy on 6/28/15. The contract very clearly states coverage begins 30 days from payment date. Everything in our home and the pool we added on was working 100%. On 8/11/15 when we were outside swimming, the pump began running very loudly. We checked our policy and the dates to ensure we were within the policy dates and filed a claim. The first contractor assigned refused to come out stating Choice had a horrible reputation with local contractors and never paid. The second contractor told us he would come out and never did. When we followed up, he stated Choice had cancelled the claim.

    We called Choice and were told that this was a preexisting condition (contractor had not come out to even verify what was wrong) and it would not be covered. As our pool was in working condition and the contract states that it will be covered due to normal wear and tear, I feel this is a HUGE misrepresentation of what will be covered. EVERYTHING in my house is on the way to failure as we use everything. After arguing with the warranty claims department, I requested a FULL refund since this was clearly a breach of contract. I was transferred to the cancellation department and told I was only entitled to a partial refund. He stated that if the pool hadn't failed until an additional 30 days had passed it would have been covered. Since there is a 30/60 unstated policy, the same should be in place for my refund. This company needs to live up to the contract or refund my money in full.

    We have had Choice Home Warranty for about 2 and 1/2 years and have turned in several claims. All claims were either denied or only minimally covered. When I called to cancel after they refused a roof repair they agreed to pay if we would not cancel. Today was the last straw, I had a plumbing backup on a weekend and had to get my own plumber as the CHW rep told me that their contractors were only Monday through Friday. This was an emergency as we would not be able to use our facilities. We hired a plumber who snaked our line through the toilet that flooded. He charged $438 on a Sunday which included a $119 weekend charge. 2 plumbers came out, were very thorough to determine cause of back up and spent about 3 hours at my home and fixed the problem!!

    Choice told me that that did not cover snaking a drain through the toilet opening. And that their rate was $110 minus the $45 service charge. So for my $438 they are reimbursing $110 - $45 ($65) total. They have exclusions for EVERYTHING!!! They are a scam and would not recommend them to anyone. I will be cancelling as soon as I receive my $65 refund check and deposit it. They told me if I cancelled they would put a stop payment on their check!!

    First I want to point out that I was "Okay" up to this morning. While not happy with the technician that Choice sent, I was happy with the way Choice handled the situation... until this morning. It all started with the AC going out during the evening of the 4th of August, ugh.. Texas and night time temps were in the 90's but I placed my claim with Choice via online, and by 7 am Wednesday morning had a tech to call and schedule appointment. I tried calling him from 8 am to 10ish that morning, and when he finally answered he was very rude and put out but did say that he would be there between 2-8 that day.

    Great, took off work and waited. At 7:30 pm I called to check and see if he would be there. House was 93 degrees with ceiling fans and floor fans circulating hot air (I know it is not life threatening but uncomfortable in 90% humidity) and he informed me he was eating dinner with his family and he did not get to me today, so would be there by 9 am on Thursday. Ok, still not "angry" but called Choice and I did not think his behavior was what they would expect. Again rep very nice, sympathetic, even stated that I could request another tech., but probably would get one out before Friday. I agreed and waited till morning. At 9:10 with no tech I called him and was told that he would be there shortly. I called Choice as I had a 11:30 flight and needed to leave.

    Choice called him and he told them it would be 2-3, and while he was still on the phone the rep came back to me and told me this. I explained that I had a flight and she went back to the tech and told me he was on the way. He arrived at 10:05, spent 5 minutes at the unit and told me the fan motor was out. He did not have one and would have to pick one up. He would be back Friday morning. OK now have to board dogs, and have someone come and wait for him on Friday morning, and you guessed - he never showed up. Never even called. So once I landed and was in my hotel room, I called and he told me "he forgot" and would be there Saturday.

    I called Choice livid, and they called him, and came back and said that he is very sorry and he "PROMISES" to be there Saturday morning at 10 am. Ok now husband has arrived home from his trip. House is 96 degrees so he goes and stays in a hotel, comes back home Saturday morning at 7 am, and guess what, by 10:30 no tech and he does not answer his phone. I call Choice and tell them I want to use my own tech and be reimbursed, which was an option offered to me on Friday, BUT I was asked to give him another chance because he "PROMISES."

    So again the reps are awesome, explain that I do need to have my tech call in with a diagnosis that will work. My neighbor owns his own AC company, was over in a moment, said that the fan motor was out, drove 78 miles each way to pick one up, got the AC unit working FIRST, then called Choice with the diagnosis. And then while I was driving with 4 others in the car on SPEAKER Choice called and a woman who said she was a Supervisor in Claim Reimbursement, stating that because of all the issues and problems with their tech, they would reimburse the full 482.00, instead of the 242.00 that was their price, just send in the invoice.

    So when I got home my neighbor had left a invoice, NOT BILLING me for drive time, mileage, or even the FREON that he put in our unit. He billed only for the ACTUAL cost of the motor $ 412.00 and 70.00 in labor. Nothing more. I completed the form and sent to Choice, all good right? NOOOOOO. I get a voice message and then an email that it was imperative that I call immediately. I called this morning and waited 15 minutes for the first person to tell me that I need to speak with someone in reimbursements, (I called the number they left) and then I get a VERY condescending person who tells me that she wanted to let me know that even though the invoice states 482.00 because I used my own tech, they were only paying 242.00 and my check will arrive in 30 days.

    I tried explaining (very patiently) the issues I had due to their tech, and what I had been told, and she told me, "Regardless we only pay our price." I asked for a supervisor, and she said, "I am THE supervisor," to which I told her that I wanted to speak to someone ABOVE her, unless she owned the company, to which I was placed on hold for another 10 minutes. She came back and said, "We are paying your claim in full, your check should arrive in 30 days."

    I know that the 150.00 I paid in boarding is not covered, the 150.00 paid for hotel is not covered, the aggravation of their incompetent AC technician cannot be measured, BUT you would think at least the final person I spoke with could have at least bore some human compassion? Yes, I am angry that it even had to go this far. I am angry that the reps in the company are more human than your so called "supervisors" and yes I am angry that instead of the reimbursement being processed on the 13th as I was told it is just now being processed on the 19th?

    I called in a claim on 8/10/15 to this company which I had purchased on 6/10/15 however they have a 30 waiting period so the contract didn't actually start until 7/10/15. The service provider came and determined the repair was extensive and was told when contacting Choice that they had to review the repair. I received an email from them to contact them immediately. When I called I was told this was a pre-existing problem and they were not covering it. When I signed up with them, I was covered by AHS and did not cancel that program until July so I was covered by a warranty policy. If the problem had been pre-existing I would have contacted AHS while under contract but the problem did not begin until right before I called it into Choice.

    When I called the company I spoke to a account rep who informed me they were not covering the repair. I asked to speak to a manager who was very rude and talked over me when I tried to explain my side. Totally unprofessional and cancelled my policy with them immediately. If I want to purchase one of these warranty programs, I would go back to AHS. The only reason I switched was because the person who called me from sales, offered a good price and knew I was covered by AHS at that time and thought that was good and didn't see any problems when switching. I guess you get what you pay for!! Terrible company and employees!!!

    I just switched to Choice in June and had an issue with my washer in July. I am unhappy that it took 2 weeks to have a service person come out and fix the washer. I am hoping with something major like heating or cooling it does not take this long. The repairman found out there was more wrong than initially was reported and discovered with the cost of labor and parts, it would be more to fix the washer than it was worth. Choice offered to buy me out and will be sending a $300 check so I am look for a new washer. The only downside is it may take up to 30 days to receive the check which means a longer wait to clean clothes out at my house. But with this all said, I am happy that they sent a knowledgeable repairman and that Choice is sending a check so I may buy a new washer.

    I filled out the form online and immediately got a call from some guy. I think his name was Terry ** but phone # was (732)947-5441. I'm a salesman myself and this guy basically got mad that I refuted every sales tactic he used (e.g. "We have a special discount going on right now..." "We're the #1 home warranty company in the US..." "You have a 30 day money back guarantee, even though you can't make a claim until after 30 days.").

    He eventually asked me if I was a salesman because he already knew that I knew what he was doing. After confirming, he quickly tried to get me off the phone by saying, "sir, are you planning on buying a home warranty today or just browsing the website?" I said, "I'm planning on buying one soon but wouldn't necessarily have to be by today." Then he said, "ok, have a nice day." and hung up.     Choice was quick to get a service company. Sears was used. They came on time and decided they needed to order parts. Then things got rather confusing. Not to the fault of Choice but Sears. Another tech was to come and parts were to be mailed to house but it was not coordinated properly and next thing I know is they are not fixing but replacing. Then when Sears is making appointment to install, they say they will come but we must have new hoses, or they will not hook it up, just leave it. I called Choice, they took care of this immediately! I am very happy with Choice. This was my first claim. It took longer than I would have thought but that was due to the Sears tech changing a fix that needed parts to be mailed and then deciding it couldn't be fixed. Choice arranged for a replacement!     On July 24, 2015 I made a claim that my outside AC unit was heating up and the fan was stopping to run a few minutes after being started. They assigned the job to Tropics Air Conditioning & Heating who unfortunately never made a service appointment. CR Air Services, Inc. was subsequently assigned the claim on July 27, 2015. On July 30, 2015 CR Air Services, Inc. came and assessed the equipment.

    According to their invoice No. ** - Found upstairs unit not cooling, started the unit and compressor or fan would not run. Tested run capacitor, OK. Tested start capacitor, very weak and leaking. Removed start kit from circuit and started unit. Unit was running low on refrigerant, approximately 4 lbs. Leak tested system and found unit leaking from Schrader cores. Added 4 lbs. of R-22 unit 265/80 psi R-22 8 degree superheat. Added new screws missing from panel and as we were packing up to complete job condenser fan motor quit. I CALLED BACK INTO AUTHORIZATION AND THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT GOING TO COVER ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. 1 condenser coils and evaporator coils dirty and need to be cleaned. Estimate to replace fan motor is $695.40 plus additional trip charge.

    It defeats common sense why Choice Home Warranty (CHW) would give approval for the initial job per their authority No. ** for $353.00 but immediately deny approval for additional repairs. I talked to a Customer Service Representative who adamantly told me CHW would not approve the reason being that the coils were dirty. I contracted a private contractor GC Services who replaced the condenser fan motor and capacitor, added freon for only $320.00. I asked GC Services whether the condenser coils were dirty and was informed they were clean except for the debris at the bottom of the unit (but every outside unit in wooded areas would have some sort of debris at the bottom of the unit). I was informed the debris would have no effect on the fan motor which is at the top of the unit. The fan motor could have been heating up because of wear and tear - it was installed in 1998.

    I'm a real estate agent and I referred one of my clients to Choice Home Warranty because I thought they would be a good company. My client has lived in her home for 40 DAYS. During the inspection, the air conditioner worked fine. The air conditioner has worked fine up until two days ago and it went out. My client called Choice Home Warranty to get it repaired and they sent someone out and said that it is the compressor. The claim was denied because they said the problem was pre-existing. The air conditioner has worked fine until now. There is nothing in all of their paperwork that says a date that a compressor would not be considered pre-existing.

    After getting the total package home warranty, which is the most expensive, my client still has to pay to have her air conditioner fixed, not to mention the $60 trade call fee that she had to pay for them to tell her that they will not help her. I WILL NEVER REFER ANOTHER CLIENT TO CHOICE HOME WARRANTY, in fact, I will discourage them from using them. They are a joke! Do not waste your money!!!

    Purchased warranty June 29, 2015. Took effect 30 days later on July 29,2015. On July 30, forced air fan in unit stopped working. Outside temps 110+ degrees during day here in Arizona. Choice sent out local tech who confirmed fan motor was out. Repairs estimated at $620.00. He called Choice and they denied claim because warranty had only been in effect 2 days. I spoke to Choice rep and he stated that motor was "obviously in process of failing before policy took effect." I told him I thought that was the reason for the 30 day waiting period. Asked for and received refund minus $50 administrative fee. Have since lodged complaint with AZ Dept of Insurance for denial of claim. Online search reveals many such complaints against Choice.

    I only gave 1 star because it was required. The customer service is horrible. Filed my first claim for a broken motor on my dishwasher, they wouldn't fix because they said it could not have broken in the short time I had the warranty. A motor can break at any time. I have 2 houses insured with this company, I'm a little nervous about anything else breaking. I ended up canceling both because they wouldn't work with me. I'm very disappointed.

    Warranty just tries to find ways not to pay. They told me that tech had said the equipment was old and was broken before taking warranty. In fact I called tech and tech in person at time of evaluating system said it was in good condition and disrepair could have happened recently, not as Choice Home Warranty said.     The Choice Home Warranty (CHW) company failed to honor the home service agreement and they neither repaired nor replaced the malfunctioned unit. I reported the touch pad malfunctioning of the oven stove in December 2014. The CHW assigned the repair work to a contractor, who looked at the unit and ordered a part. After couple of months, they replaced one part, but that did not work. So, they ordered another part and replaced it after a few months. But, the replaced part turned out to be defective and the touch pad still did no work. On contacting the CHW, they assigned the work to another contractor. I don't know what this contractor told CHW, but they assigned the work to the third contractor. This contractor came to see the unit and sent report to CHW.

    As per telephone conversation with this contractor, they suggested CHW to replace the unit as the repair cost could be close to the price of unit and it was not worth repairing the unit. On contacting CHW, the claim supervisor told us that they cannot do anything and they closed the claim. After filing the initial complaint, they said they are working on it, but did not do anything and told us over the phone that they cannot do anything. Finally, the unit was not repaired and remained in the same condition where it was in December 2014. As a result, the CHW company failed to honor the home repair agreement. I strongly believe that the legal action should be taken against such companies in order to protect consumer rights.

    I took out home warranty with Choice Home Warranty; my claim went into effect on 08/10/2015. Called Claim Dept. concerning A/C repair. They sent subcontractor out (Sprint Heat and Air). They did not come into the house and later report both of my central unit needed to be replace. Choice called later and told me I would not be cover due to the short time my membership was effective. Talk to supervisor Measha; told me to get a second look by another A/C co. I did. The A/C co. came out and fix the A/C problem just by adding more freon. I was told I would not be reimburse by Choice co, however; the manager tech I spoke with and then was told they would not reimburse me due to freon leaks and I should spotted the leak (how can you see a gas leak such as freon?). Now again they say "you are not covered." I am seeking legal help. I paid the contractor over $600.00 in repair fees. Scam company! Choice!!!

    I called to file a claim and the person with CHW was very friendly and got my claim opened quickly. My appointment with the AC repair company was made within a couple hours. The repairman came out and within 30 minutes identified and fixed the issue. My house is cool again in this Texas summer heat, and am very happy that it was quickly taken care of. My only concern was that if the unit had to be replaced, the coverage is only up to $1,500 and most AC replacements are much more than that. For now, all is great. Thanks CHW!
