My AC went out during the night on Wednesday. Called Choice 1st thing Thursday morning. They had a contractor out the same day. Contractor got the issue resolved and was professional and punctual. Great experience!

First thing, I was a new customer and did receive my free first call. The technician called within the time frame per CHW representative. He arrived at a convenient time and identify himself. Very professional and got to work immediately. He explained the issue and corrected it, also promised to follow up if the problem existed.

I had an excellent experience with Choice Home Warranty. I was having some electrical issues with our home. CHW contacted a reliable electrician to come to our house and fix the problem. Within an hour of creating the claim with CHW, I had an appointment scheduled with the local electrician. The company that CHW sent was very professional and even went above and beyond solving the electrical issue we had. I highly recommend CHW.

I contacted Choice Home Warranty to report problems with my microwave. The representative took my information and provided me with a claim number and a repair service called me to set up an appointment. My appliance was not repaired due to the cost but Choice offered me a very fair buy out price so that I could replace my microwave. I am totally satisfied with the response and service that I received regarding this claim.

My washer broke down... soon after my claim, Choice Home Warranty called me. I set an appointment with the Technician. The repair was almost as expensive as to get a new machine. They offered $ 300 - that I accepted and I think it is a fair amount. I hope I get the check soon to be able to buy another one. I wish the Company I was assigned provide a better Customer Service. The Technician was OK, but the phone service was poor. They never called me like I was told; they did not informed me that they do not take Credit Cards and that is an inconvenience. Beside that, they do not drive a company car or wear any shirt with the name of the company and a name badge. Does not give a good impression at all.

Saturday morning the oven would not "light off". Since the clock was operating, I was assured it was not a power failure. I contacted CHW claim service and within a few minutes the claim was entered and I was advised of the authorized contractor. I contacted Complete Home Solutions early Monday A.M. and set an afternoon appointment. The technician arrived shortly after noon, diagnosed the problem as an inoperable ignitor and attempted to replace it with a "universal" ignitor on hand, which did not fit. He reassembled the stove so it could be used, and place an order for the correct replacement. On Friday, he called and set an early afternoon appointment which he kept, replaced the ignitor, lit off the oven, reassembled the oven, shook hands and departed. The oven was used for dinner preparation Friday evening.

My first claim to Choice was for a blocked sewer line. The toilet was backing up into the tub. The plumber assigned was Ajax Plumbing who could not come out for 5 days. I called to see if I could get someone sooner and was told no one could come sooner. Ajax missed the first appointment and set another one 2 days later. One week after I reported sewage sitting in my tub, Ajax came out and said they couldn't clear the line. They wanted to use a camera to see what was clogging it and dig up my front yard. I called Choice and complained and complained. They finally gave me permission to use my own plumber who came out the next day and used the outside clean out to clear the line in 15 minutes.
My next claim was the washer drain. Because the sewage sat in the line for a week, it had backed up into the washer drain and I could not use my washer. My first call to Choice I was told it was not covered. My second call I was told it was and I was given permission to use my own plumber. Again he cleared it the next day in an hour. After 2 weeks of asking about my claim I finally had to fax it to the claims department and was then told the $60 claim was not covered because there was no outside clean out on the washer drain. Since the plumber charged a standard service call fee, I didn't understand why it mattered how the drain was cleared.
The manager over claims told me her job was to enforce the policy and it was suspicious I was calling again in such a short time for another blockage problem. It's obvious Choice Home warranty isn't a company that wants to repair anything. They want to collect a yearly policy and get out of paying anything for repair services. The plumber they sent out knew the system was to get the homeowner to pay through the nose for something a good plumber could do in minutes. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!

My claim was assigned immediately and the contractor came out the same day. He had to replace the sump pump and did that the following day. Overall in a 2-day span my claim was resolved to my satisfaction and with no hassle. The contractor was both polite and professional.

When calling about the item (garbage disposal), the person was very helpful. She gave me a contact # of the company in case I didn't receive a call from them in an hour. This was on a Saturday after 6pm, the weekend. Buckner Plumbing Dallas did not call within the time allowed. I called them and was told it would be Monday afternoon. Since it was the garbage disposal and we could use the other side of the sink, I agreed to wait until Monday afternoon.
At 2:00pm Buckner Pluming knocked on the door and Thomas seen the problem right away. He said that it would need to be replaced, he called Choice Home Warranty and made arrangements for the replacement, he returned the next day for the installment at 8:00am and was completed at 8:30am. Now here comes the bill... Nothing but my Service Call Fee!!! When you are told something from CHOICE HOME WARRANTY, believe it. Fast and reliable, dependable service. Thank You CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.

Oven, Dishwasher, and air conditioner Repaired by Choice - Choice has sent technicians to my house promptly every time I have called. All of the technicians have been knowledgeable, and did the repairs promptly and efficiently. If they needed parts they did not have they ordered these and received the parts within a few days. They then scheduled with me for the time of the repair and did the repairs quickly.

Our air conditioner stopped cooling and I placed a repair order with CHW online. This was a very simple process and I was given an order number and a service company in the local area to contact. I did this but the repair company was not responsive and did not come out when scheduled. I contacted CHW and the customer service rep also tried to contact the repair company with no luck. She assigned a new service company to our work order right away and they were out the next day and fixed the problem. That service company kept in contact with me and they were very polite and professional. The repair work was done quickly and the air conditioner is back in service. I have only had the service contract with CHW for a little over 2 months and so far I am very happy with their customer service. Thanks CHW!

I have a home, asked them to come out. The serviceman who came out sent them (2) photos on the existing unit, it has a variable drive blower. They declined to be responsible for any repairs to improper service of the units. How did they determine that, from looking at the (2) photos. The serviceman never said anything about improper service, just that the unit was 6 years old the blower was going bad. My cost to repair $697.00 because a "Tech" sitting behind a desk looked at (2) pictures and automatically determined the unit had improper maintenance.
I am a project manager for a commercial general contractor, been doing this 35 years, I find this "stupid " at best. The tech said the day before he experienced the same thing at a different house. I argues I had cleaned the coils. They then demanded to know what chemical I used. They argued that since I am not a licensed HVAC contractor, my opinion did not mater. They did say I could call an independent 3rd party ac sub out to look at the units, and then he could talk to them, but they would not comment if his opinion would actually do any good. I asked about canceling my policy, they said no refund, my money would be theirs (I bought a 3 year policy). So unless you hire a 3rd party to come out and keep immaculate service records, you are flat out of luck.

My wife and I are currently researching home warranties for a house we are buying. Choice appeared to be the most highly rated but now I think they post those reviews themselves. They failed at the very first phone call. A rep called after I filled out info online. I explained that we see as many bad reviews as good ones so we want to be very thorough. He said "absolutely...a lot of people think the plan should even cover cat scratches."
I explained that I realize it's a service contract and not insurance but a lot of the reviews show that the contractors are unprofessional, don't show up, etc, and that I would like to know who their a/c contractors are before I sign up that way I can also research THEM. I guess the rep didn't want to provide that info because I heard silence, then was transferred to somebody's voicemail! I hung up, then whomever that guy was called me back. I just told him that the bad reviews were just confirmed and that we'll try another company.

The repairman from Bear Service was courteous and professional. I was very happy he was assigned to my claim. He did say, however, that a special order part was needed for my oven and he would request authorization from Choice Home Warranty to order and install it. I sincerely hope that authorization is given.

Air conditioner not cooling. Placed claim after 3 pm and missed call from Service/repairman; however, he called me at 10 am the following morning and set an appointment for immediately after lunch. Arrived at 1:30 pm and completed repairs within 30 minutes. I have placed seven various claims in the last 11 months. Each one has been handled as quickly and as well as this one. Also, my savings during this year on monthly premiums and co-pays is over $300.00. This really helps when you are retired on a very fixed income. We do not have a man around the house and neither my Daughter nor I are handy with repairs, so a home warranty is essential. Very satisfied with Choice Home Warranty; glad I switched to them.

Freon was leaking from my evaporating coil. It was cause by rust and corrosion. That's the nature of an air conditioning system according to the service contractor where there's any water evaporating. It happens to all air conditioning systems. Choice warranty will not fix it because it's in their small print. They are very deceiving. Do not use them. Purchased in April for $400.00, refunded in September $83.00. Wow, what a rip off.

We changed our warranty company after much research. Now after paying for a warranty we are unable to have the needed repairs done. The compressor on the air conditioner went out, it took 3 services calls before it was properly diagnosed. The service guy called Choice to notify them the air conditioner was no longer functioning. My husband was told he would receive a call about the claim shortly. He did, they denied the claim stating the compressor went out due to not having the air conditioner serviced regularly which is completely untrue. We have had the air conditioner serviced each year. You can't clean a compressor so any build up is beyond our control.
The repairman had already warned my husband that warranty companies are scammers and do all they can to not replace anything. So now we sit in 100-degree weather w/o air and out of the fees for 3 different service calls. NO OFFER TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR OR THE UNIT. We are contacting our attorney for fraudulent practices. We paid for services we did not receive.

I called because the air conditioner on the main level was not working. I placed a call to CHW and within less than an hour the repairman had contacted me and came to do the repairs. He was courteous and did the repairs quickly. He explained what the problem was when the work was done. If I have any additional problems I will call and ask for Bell Mechanical. It is a relief knowing that I can depend on CHW when problems occur.

We have only been with a home warranty company for a few months and I wish we'd keep one since we purchased our home in 2011! Honestly we just didn't know. It's not that they approve everything but that they seem fair in their assessments and are completely professional regardless. They've saved us a lot of money and the peace of mind is priceless! They seem to have only the best providers on their roll call and since it's not just one of my shots in the dark that's a relief when things go wrong. And things can always go wrong.

We had a stopped up plumbing in the kitchen. Derrick cleared the problem and then found a leak under the sink. Every time he thought he had it fixed, something else would not work. The poor guy made several trips to the store for parts and finally got it all fixed. He worked over 8 hours but would not quit until it was fixed and fixed correctly. He was very polite and kept apologizing for it taking so long. We were very grateful that he wanted to get the problems solved and I do hope we will not have this issue again.

My first experience with Choice Home Warranty was disappointing and I wanted to alert everyone to the fine print. Basically they are not responsible for conditions existing (known or unknown) at the time of your policy. Therefore if you have an older home like mine and older appliances that go bad over time during the initial period of your insurance, they will tell you that the conditions that lead to the failure had to be in existence at the time the insurance started. I don't disagree with them--everything wears down over time but if it actually fails after the insurance is in place, it should be covered. Please make sure you consider this when purchasing the insurance as most likely larger items will not be covered over the initial period.

It was a Friday and my husband came home and found the AC was not cooling at all. The compressor was not working. The unit was not running. My husband called Choice Home and they gave him a tech who called but could not come out for about 5 days because it was Memorial Day weekend. We could not go without AC because it was about 100% outside and even hotter inside. So we advised Choice Home we had had a company who would come out the next morning and fix the AC. So we contacted the company and they came out at 8 am the next morning and fixed the unit, it was the start capacitor. We let Choice Home know on the following Tuesday as Monday was a Holiday. They were in turn advised of the charge and I sent them the bill, I was advised of the approval of the cost and it would take 30 days to be reimbursed. I am okay with this.

A work order was placed in February 2015. The contractor claimed to order an thermostat, which we have never received. I called the contractor several times, and no response. I contacted home warranty and submitted another claim, and I was told I would received monetary amount for the inconvenience etc. I was told it takes approx. 30 days before payment. I'm waiting patiently.

I had to fight to get a company to come out and look at the items broke - air conditioner because of new policy. Then when they did the service guy stated needs new compressor. Warranty company said "No pre-existing - won't pay." How is a person supposed to get coverage if they can just decide it's pre-existing at any time? We just bought house. Things break that's why I bought the service. Useless.

My father bought two policies. One for his home and one for mine. After he passed away, my mother sold her house. I am her POA so when we closed on the house, I immediately called CHW and explained the situation. I was told they could transfer the remaining time on their policy to mine. So they emailed me the Transfer Form and instructed me to fill it out and fax it to them. I did. They claimed they never received it. So on September 3, 2015 they emailed me another Transfer Form and told me fill it out and I could scan it into an email and send it to them. I did.
Then today I received an email stating that my policy was expiring long before I was told it would. So I called again and was told that they still had not received either Transfer Form and that they do not transfer from one policy to another and would not refund for the remaining time. This is absolutely the worse customer service I have witnessed. Not only do none of the employees know company policy, there was also no attempt whatsoever to try to work with their existing customers. Shoddy business. I will never recommend this company to anyone.

Our customer purchased this warranty for their home. We were asked to service their heating equipment. We were given a claim number from the owner. After completion of the work, we filed the claim online as directed by Choice. We never got paid, so we sent the bill to the homeowner. We were asked to submit again & we did. Still no response. I called Choice & spoke w/ Sandra. She gave me a new claim number & asked me to file for payment again using the website. We did. Still no response.
Again, we called the homeowner. They contacted Choice. We spoke w/ Choice again, to Michael, who has left the company. Again no response. We then spoke w/ Darrell & he had us submit the claim again & gave us a new claim number. Still no payment. Called Darrell again. He was going to call us back, but did not. This claim is over a year old & still no payment. Darrell was going to get this paid & call us back. He did not. We are still waiting & have sent the homeowner the bill. The homeowner spoke w/ me this AM & stated that he cannot get Choice to respond to him. We have not received payment.

I had a follow-up email and technician contact information within minutes. The plumber was able to come out the next morning, and everything was resolved very easily! It is hot in Arizona! I woke up at 3:00 am and our room was very hot, I went to check our air conditioning. It was off and we couldn't get it back on. I purchased a warranty for my condo through Choice Home Warranty. When I signed up I told them that my AC was 21 years old and was very specific to make sure it was covered. They assured me it would be. It went out a month later and they sent a tech out to look at it. The tech said it was dead but they refused to pay for anything because the "outside unit had some rusted components". When I explained to them that it has been sitting outside in the Florida air for 21 years and there was no way of avoiding some rust, they simply told me to read the fine print of my contract. Please do not do business with these crooks. Use American Home Shield or another company.

Although CHW had problems finding a technician to come to my area, they authorized me to use my own technician. I would pay him an agreed amount and CHW would reimburse me in 30 days. Although I had to find a technician myself and pay him, I received my payment exactly one month after, as promised. A little extra effort on my part, but my appliance is fixed.

Earlier this year, I terminated my home warranty with Old Republic, as they provided really lousy service. I searched online and found Choice Home Warranty, which had very good ratings from customers. I purchased the home warranty insurance, as my home is close to 20 years old and some of the appliances are getting very old, so I wanted to have protection in case they failed.
In July 2015, my washing machine failed and I submitted a claim with Choice Home. It took them about 8 weeks and over 6 home visits to finally get a contractor to repair my washing machine (it took the contractor 5 minutes to replace the bad motherboard). To get them to do this simple work order, I had to call Choice Home about 40 times. In Jul 2015, my central AC stopped working. I called Choice Home and it took them about a week to get a contractor to my house. The contractor found that the cable going to the compressor was melted (to me it was obvious that the damage was caused by a power surge).
I filed a claim to get the AC replaced and it was denied because Choice Home claimed that the damage resulted from improper service and maintenance of the unit (according to them, I failed to service the unit in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation). Lucky for me, I had the unit serviced 3 times during the previous year. I sent Choice Home an email with documentation to show that the unit was properly serviced. They did not answer my emails and refused to honor my claim. According to them, I had to provide a detailed list of everything that was done during the service. I provided a document to show that the unit had been serviced by a certified AC company and they still refused to pay for the repair. This last week, I cancelled my contract with Choice Home and they kept over 60% of my original fee (when I had the insurance for less than 3 months). This company is the worse. Please do not buy their services...

Had garage door issues 3 days after the start of my home warranty. Called Choice and had the contact details of the local contractor verbally while still on the phone and in an e-mail within 5 minutes after the call. They said I'd get a call within an hour to schedule. It was less than 15 minutes. He gave me a 9-11 am window and was there by 9:30 (called minutes after 9 as a "heads up"). Diagnosed the issue quickly, gave me my options then got it done in no time at all. If only everything went this smoothly in life.

Upon returning home from visiting with my ailing mother-in-law, we returned to find of our ac units disabled. The next morning we contacted Choice and they contacted us in a reasonable amt. of time, considering that it was a holiday weekend. Especially glad that we had another unit, so our level of inconvenience was minimal. We were contacted by the repairman, who showed, diagnosed the problem, made the necessary repairs, and made a quick and successful outcome. Our repair person was excellent. Knowledgeable and efficient. On time, clean and got the job done right the first time. CHOICE at first said they would probably not pay for the repair because they thought the problem was just a leaking faucet. When they reviewed the plumbers report and realized the faucet was actually broken, they reimbursed us right away. We have two houses covered by CHOICE. We will be staying with them and recommend them.

I've purchased a home warranty from Choice and I've called in for service. They were professional and courteous and got a technician the order immediately. I was able to confirm time availability with the technician who came out and took care of my non-working stove and oven. Choice covered the entire repair and I paid my $45 deductible. I love the low deductible as well. They then called me to follow up to see if I was satisfied with the completed work. I was very impressed. Making the decision to go with Choice Home Warranty was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Choice appointed an A/C contractor quickly over a weekend at the first mention of my claim. It was 104 outside and our A/C went out on a Saturday evening. The A/C guy came out and determined it was not an A/C issue but an electrical issue. After contacting Choice they immediately re-issued a claim based on the electrical problem. When I called to schedule the electrician he said he would be 2 to 3 days out at minimum. With no air and the daytime temps reaching 104, 105 I didn't want to wait 2 or 3 more days so I called Choice and they re-appointed another electrician who came out the next day and determined the problem and promptly fixed it.
Yes I was without A/C from Saturday night until Tuesday afternoon but my total cost was $45 out-of-pocket and our A/C is working like a champ now. It's very comforting to know that they will help accommodate a busy contractor to take care of a customer more quickly. Very happy to have Choice Home Warranty as our home warranty company.

The claims rep was very detailed in asking about the nature of the problem. I received an immediate email in confirmation. The plumber called within hours and was here the next day to repair the toilet handle. I was a bit disappointed that the policy did not cover a kitchen faucet that was also broken. The policy was specific about that however.

I know I am responsible for what I write. Since May I have been trying to get my reimbursement of $55 which was incorrectly charged for a service call that was not corrected the first time. I had to find my own contractor after waiting three days for Choice Home to find one. This was a septic problem. I am glad it was not an emergency. My contractor did not charge me a service call fee the second time but only charged for parts. I received reimbursement for the first call and was charged a service call fee for the second call even though it was a repeat call since the problem was not fixed the first time. Choice Home charged me $55 for a service call.
I called and was told by customer service that I would be reimbursed this within thirty days. Never happened. In fact this charge was incorrect since my contract clearly states $45 for the service call fee. I have made several calls trying to get a check, each time I am told it will be taken care of. Last call was Thursday 09/16/15. They told me to wait 24 hours. They must be kidding if they think I am going to waste my time calling again. I will give it a few more days and they contact the Better Business Bureau. I paid $2000 for this contract, I expect better service, not lip service. Most of their representatives are customer service oriented but to date the problem has not been solved.

I am a bit concerned over the coverage. I have the pool option but the first time I needed coverage I had to fight a bit to get what I needed paid for which you did. Now on this new pool claim I'm being informed that only a small portion of the cost is covered. My last home warranty company covered everything. I have given you 3 properties. Two on a 5-year contract and one on a 3-year contract, all prepaid in full. I believe I am due some consideration based on my contracts.

Our Kenmore dryer stopped working on 9-15-2015. I called in a claim that same day and contacted the authorized repair contractor the following morning. Service call was scheduled for 9-17-15 hours of 12:00pm and 3:00pm. The technician called at 11:30am on 9-17. Said he would arrive by 12:00 noon and was on time. He diagnosed the problem within minutes, repaired the dryer in a very short period of time, cleaned up and left after I paid the $45 service call fee. The contractor is HK Appliance Repair. I did contact Sears for an estimated price for the repair and was quoted an approximate price of $200. Choice Home Warranty was prompt and professional and the repair service was excellent. This was our first experience since joining Choice 90 days ago and we are very pleased with the entire process. Thank You!

I bought a protection plan from CHW, paid $375. After three month from buying policy, it was my first claim with them. I have water leakage. I called them for coverage. They sent the plumber from BERGEN DRAIN, an authorized CHW service technician. He said we are approved so he started his work. Then all of sudden, CHW called the plumber and said they are not covered. By that time plumber had already drilled all the basement ceiling and take the pipe out and cause the biggest leakage.
After being informed that we were not covered, he immediately left, leaving the huge mess, broken ceiling and pipe leaking through the ceiling. Our brand new carpet was drenched. I called CHW and tell the whole situation. They said "we are not paying a single penny on this issue, not even what plumber did". I cancelled my plan right away and get half of my money back. On the top, plumber got 45 dollar deductible by doing nothing and by making our problem worse. Afterwards plumber called me and offered me doing the same job under the table cash, so he could pocket the money. CHW is completely BOGUS company. Please, please do not waste your money. Thanks.

I've had my AC serviced 3-4 times in the last 2 years. I am told CHW won't fix my AC because it wasn't "properly" maintained. I guess it had some dust on some coils. I paid Choice $1,050 for a 3-year warranty and then they come up with this policy that they won't pay for my AC to be repaired. The gentlemen who sold me the warranty said CHW was a different company. Why should I pay for a warranty whereas I must pay for the repair myself? The AC had been serviced.

I thought I would have to wait until the company opened at 7 or 8 am, however I called at 6 am just to check and to my surprise I was able to open a ticket for both homes at once. My pool pump went out on a Friday night. I called Choice Home Warranty Saturday morning, got through to an agent right away and the claim was opened up quickly. The agent was polite and informative. It didn't but a few minutes and they had a technician assigned. In the end, I opted for new pump and just had to pay the difference between the new pump cost and a new motor for the old one.

As you aware, it was very hot on September 3, 2015. My air conditioner suddenly did not work. I called CHW on September 4 and got service contractor in 2 hours. I called Choice, they gave me the techs number and I called about 9:30 p.m. thinking I would get an answering machine. I entered into a home warranty coverage plan with Choice Home Warranty on 08/19/2015. At the time that I entered into the coverage plan, I was told by Adam ** that the plan would go into effect in 15 days due to having an existing plan. At that time my current plan with American Residential Warranty was in effect. I was not told that I needed to cancel the policy immediately. In fact I was told to leave it in place until the new contract went into effect with Choice Home Warranty.
I called on 09/17 to submit a claim on an A/C unit that failed and was told that my contract was not in effect until 09/19/2015. I explained the above and was told that I would need to provide proof of coverage under the American Residential Warranty plan at the time that I signed up for the Choice Home Warranty plan. I had purposely not paid the American Residential Warranty plan for August due to the new Choice Home Warranty plan. American Residential Warranty would not send me a copy of my contract until I made August which I did in order to obtain proof of coverage at the time I signed up for Choice Home Warranty.
When I sent the proof of coverage in I was then denied coverage with Choice Home Warranty due to not terminating my contract with American Residential Warranty at the time of the A/C failure. This is a complete double standard. They required me have existing coverage then denied due not having cancelled my coverage prior to the failure of our A/C. When I called back a fourth time that supervisor told me that all I needed was proof that the contract was in place at the time that I signed with Choice Home Warranty. Then I was told that I needed to show a bank statement showing payment for August. When I stated that I could do that I was told it wouldn't matter due to the failure being previous condition. Even though the equipment failed on 09/16 and the policy should have gone into effect on 09/14. This company is nothing but a bunch of crooks practicing the bait and switch routine at every opportunity.

This was the first time I had used your services. I contacted your office as soon as my oven stopped working. I was told that I would receive an e-mail with a name and number of who I needed to contact to make an appointment. Brian ** came around very quickly and carried out the work and my oven is now working. On another note - I have asked twice for my contact number to be updated as your records are incorrect and it still appears that this hasn't happened. The air conditioner broke down around midnight on a Friday. I submitted the claim on Saturday. Got an almost immediate response back on who to contact for repair. I called the technician but they don't work on weekends so left a message on the voicemail. They called back mid-day on Monday and scheduled an appointment for 8 pm that night. Luckily we have two air conditioners in our home so we were able to have cooling. The technician needed to get approval prior to replacing the fan? So, they did not return until Wednesday morning to replace it. Again, luckily we had a cooling alternative. The technician was professional and knowledgeable but this service company appears to be very busy and they don't work on weekends. If they are an approved service provider I don't understand why they needed to get additional approval to fix the situation? I am very happy with Choice Home Warranty. I plan to renew my policy. They came out on the date & time that they said they would & the technician and was knowledgeable & thoroughly investigated our problem. The first time I had called on this problem was originally called about back on May 21, 2015. It had been assigned to ERL Electric, an authorized CHW Technician. This person came and left. Of the three appliances he "attempted" to fix on that day, a total of "one" was actually repaired correctly, and that was my Washing Machine -- which I do not even think he did much with that---when I was showing him the problem with it, it seemed to be okay. The call, this time, was for my refrigerator and was the 2nd time for the same problem - as mentioned, the first Tech. was horrible and unprofessional, in my opinion.
After reaching back out to CHW, and explaining the entire situation from beginning to end, they were absolutely wonderful, and made good on their service---even though it had gone past the "Labor" warranty window. My situation was a bit "out-of-the-ordinary" and the Manager had a sense of compassion; she was a pleasure to have dealt with. She actually sent out a Tech, (right away), from Sears, who was as fantastic as anyone would ever ask for -- he went above and beyond in regard to his excellent skills, service and Customer Relations. My refrigerator has been outstanding, and it is a complete pleasure and a "sigh of relief" to be able to come home from work, and know that I don't have to throw any food out, because it has spoiled!
Choice Home Warranty gets my vote for standing behind what they sell and not only giving 100 percent to their Customers, but also stepping back and looking at the "Human" side of a situation by listening, understanding and then fixing the problem at hand. I was totally impressed by CHW, and have recommended them to everyone - Neighbors, Friends and Family. I feel very safe having this Company and their warranty in place, should anything happen to anything "major" in my home!

The motor to my pool pump was overheating and shutting off. My case was assigned and there was a technician to my house within 48 hours and he replaced the motor on the spot. He was not very educated with getting the pump primed and working again but I knew how to handle that. Overall good experience.

At first the tech said he didn't think he would be able to make it and I told him I would be home and was not going anywhere. He told me to turn the unit off so I did. At 7:30 I didn't think he was going to make it. It was pouring down rain and I needed to get something out of my car. Opened my garage door and there he was with an umbrella over his head working on my AC. Fifteen minutes later he was done! I have worked with many Warranty companies... None this great! I had to file a claim for my washing machine, which started smoking and had a burning smell. Choice was quick to send out a tech to look at my problem. My washer could not be fixed, so Choice is providing a check for replacement. I am very happy with the outcome because I would not be able to replace the washer without help. Great customer service and problem was resolved in less than a week.

I called them for the first and only time. They sent an air conditioning tech and he said I needed to replace the air handler motor. CHOICE told him they would not pay for it. He then told me if I wanted it fixed I would have to pay him $450 in addition to the $60 contractual service call. I then cancelled my contract as I told them they are liars and cheaters and the whole thing is a scam; which it very definitely is.

I had issues with my garbage disposal. I submitted my claim on a Saturday morning around 7:15 online and by 10:30 am I had the # of the plumbing company to schedule an appointment. They were out on Monday and fixed my problem. Choice Home Warranty called me on Monday to make sure I had an appointment and was being taken care of. Love this company.

My washer did not work, the technician diagnosed that the cost to repair it is more than purchasing a new one. CH decided to send me a replacement check. I'm very appreciative! But need to wait 30 days to get the check (one star was taken off).

AC went out on a Thursday. 95 degrees in West Texas. Called Choice Warranty, talked to an associate and started the claim. By that afternoon I had an appointment for the next morning. The service technician was on time, courteous and got the AC fixed in less than an hour. I am extremely happy with the service I received. It is a great comfort to know I have Choice when I need them. No AC in the summer in Texas is not fun.

We were very satisfied with Mr ** work. It took 2 days, but this happen on a weekend and he was unable to get parts until Monday. Choice Warranty took my order very promptly and had a service company contact me right away.

I had the other Home warranty and initially it started out fine. However, it seems the following year the service fee increased, service got less than good and more items seemed not to be covered. I even experienced a situation where one of the service technicians tried to get me to pay him when the warranty company was suppose to pay. I called back and he was fired because the company had received similar reports. I switched to Choice because the service fee is by far lower and the service vendors have been great.

STAY AWAY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. I purchased 3 home warranty programs from Choice Home Warranty about 2 months ago. Friday, we called for AC Technician for repairs. He showed up on Sunday afternoon and charged extra $150.00 service call for weekend service, which nobody mention about this charge whatsoever. NOT DURING I SIGNED UP NOR DURING SERVICE CALL. I was with Service America for 3 years. They did not ever charge for service call for work done on Sunday.

Woke up on Saturday without hot water. Checked the tank and it was leaking. I called the repair service, they instructed me to and was told they do not pay overtime to their providers for Saturday, Sunday or holiday services. Therefore I have been without water since. When I enrolled in the plan I was not told this. Also, after being without water 2 days, the repairman shows and tells me they will not cover the tank. They cover parts only for water tanks and due to the fact the inside container was leaking, that is not covered. I must of overlooked this when I read the policy and I think it is terrible business practice. 99% of the time when a water tank goes it is because it needs replaced and not repaired!
So I guess if I keep this plan I have to hope that things break for me Monday through Friday to accommodate CHW and not me! God forbid if my furnace breaks over a weekend! The reviews I read were positive however my first experience has been anything but! I took this plan for peace of mind and it has been nothing but frustration the past 3 days.

I have dealt with warranty companies before but I am finding CHW a much better experience. From submitting my initial claim to completing the repair, Service was prompt complete and the technicians made sure all was right before departing. On both occasions requiring service, the technicians were professional and took the extra time necessary to ensure all was working properly.

DO NOT BUY FROM CHW! Heat pump not working in very cold snap of Jan '15. CHW didn't have technician until 2 weeks later. Technician says compressor is out, takes another week before second technician gets out and confirms compressor is problem, both estimate $1200-1500 to replace. CHW looks at compressor age of 14 years and says it is "too new" and early failure represents a "pre-existing condition." Apparently 18 years is the old enough to fail age, so I am left with a manufacturer's warranty that ended at 10 years, and an apparently meaningless homeowner's warranty purchased specifically for this contingency while we are working at a hospital in Africa and have a house sitter paying minimal rent due to her job situation. Appealed through their claims process, which took another 3-4 weeks to get a final "NO" and then no further communication from the company.
Contacted local service who came in 3 days and REPAIRED the compressor for $475. It took another four months for the company to come around with a check to cover the $475, but with no admission that they sent incompetent technicians or wrongly denied my claim for a new compressor based on their technicians' assessment (they have repeatedly referred me back to read my contract, which I have, and nowhere in it is there a suggestion that they could deny my claim for one of the major listed covered house systems, or a definition of when those major systems are not covered because they are "too young to fail.") They have said that the $475 they sent was only a "goodwill" gesture," rather than just doing what they sold me and I paid for. This is what irks me the most. They still say they didn't owe me even that!
I have asked for compensation (700) for the 2 months of sky-high electric bills (690 and 710, pre and post months averaged 340) while our house sitter was freezing and the emergency heat was doing its best, or barring that, a refund of the cost of my contract as it has done me no good. That they will not cover a major house system, clearly listed on the contract that they keep referring me to, should scare anyone who actually needs a major repair while "covered." There is no reference in the contract or other materials "sent to me at the start date" that would give the impression that an A/C compressor is not covered at 14 years of age. Not sure if I can recommend homeowner's warranties if the companies can hide these reasons to deny what was clearly (to a fairly educated consumer) supposed to be covered, but definitely have taken the sheep's disguise off this one. DO NOT BUY FROM CHW!

The refrigerator was making intermittent noise that became consistent over a week's time. The refrigerator continued to be operational (cooling and freezing appropriately). The service technician diagnosed and identified the problem as the (defrost timer), however advised that it could not be replaced until it goes out permanently and if he goes within 30 days, there will be no additional service charge fee, but if it goes after the 30 days, then the fee applies. That seems a bit ridiculous in that the refrigerator is obviously problematic.

We have two central air conditioning units on our house and neither is working properly. For whatever reason, be the fact the units are 21 years old, the A coils were added when the house was built and the technicians have great difficulty accessing them, or the contractors are told not to recommend replacements, we are having great difficulty getting replacement units. We had AHS for several years prior to switching to CHW, but now we are regretting ever having a home warranty at all.
Since starting with Choice last year they have had to send contractors to our home too many times to count. This past summer our air conditioner for both our upper and lower levels stopped blowing out the first week of June. We called and started a claim. The contractor came out and asked how old the units were. We told him 21 years and he just looked at my husband. He worked on the unit and after a few things ended up adding freon since it was very low. Not quite two weeks later we came home to no air upstairs. Called again and the same contractor came back. We refused to pay a service fee since we felt the unit couldn't have been fixed properly. This time it was low freon again. The contractor felt we had a leak in the A coil and that if a leak is found the unit should be replaced. He added more freon at no cost to us (we are now charged extra for freon since it is no longer covered).
We thought Choice would take care of whatever needed to be done about a leak since the contractor wrote it on the invoice. About a week later we lost air again. We called in and the same contractor came back, added freon, and said we really need to get a leak test. I called Choice and told them what the contractor told us. We later received an email from Choice and they said the contractor believes we have a leak and that we are responsible for getting someone to come out and that we must pay out of pocket since leaks are not covered. They also added we will need to send them a copy of the invoice. Well, last year, when we still had AHS, after much haggling, we had the A coil replaced.
So, we called the contractor who did the work. He said he would come out. He came and said the A coil wasn't leaking but he found another leak in the condenser coil. He wrote it up and we sent it by way of scan and email, in with his recommendation stating what the other contractor said, we needed another unit. We thought they would replace the unit since that is what they boast. Not so, after several days we get an email to call them and we are told they still can't do anything since we did not send in any pictures. I told them they never mentioned any pictures and if they had we would have had the contractor take some. We called the contractor and he suggested they are just trying to get out of replacing the unit. He said he would call them since he had already been out here (we are an hour from him) and he would explain his findings for us.
He also added that Choice knows it will be next to impossible to get a picture of our A coil since it is in a place that requires extensive work to get to it. I gave him all of the information, phone number, claim number, and the prompt number, and after a week he was finally able to get through and spoke with Choice. We thought this should be the end of it. Not so. We received another email telling us to call in. We did and were again told they can't go any further without pictures. It was at this time we started asking if they ever approve replacements for any of their other customers and we were told yes, if the contractor recommends replacement. I reminded them that both contractors recommended replacement but they said their hands are tied since we did not supply pictures. After going on vacation and recovering from an illness I have finally been able to pick up where we left off.
I became very frustrated after the unit stopped cooling the upstairs again and we were finally able to send in the pictures they requested, minus the A coil. They have not gotten back in touch with us after more than a week of sending in the pictures. I cannot wait to see what they demand this time. After seeing so many five star reviews, I am having difficulty believing what I am reading. I hope by writing my review and seeing it in print it will help me to believe they are recording all reviews

Having a hard time getting someone to fix my water softener. This will be the second or third time reporting it and to date no one will come to my house. It's been over a year now and the best answer I can get is "it's cheaper to replace than it is to fix" and Home Choice won't replace without a tech coming to my house. It's the catch 22 that I'm stuck in and not happy about.

We have had two warranty calls to date, an A/C and dishwasher problem. The A/C was fixed within 48 hours. Choice replaced my dishwasher within days with a new one that they delivered and installed as well. We chose Choice because we wanted the best warranty company. We now strongly recommend Choice Home Warranty. They are very accommodating and easy to work with.

Clearly everyone who has written a positive comment about Choice Home Warranty either does not exist or they were paid to provide a fathom compliment. If you look at the banner at the top, it mentions that CHW actually pays to be a part of this consumer review program! From Top to bottom, well actually Bottom to middle because they never let you get to the top, it is the single most horrible customer service experience of my life. However, this is the beginning of my crusade to get my daughter's claim reconsidered and honored.
Here is our saga. At my RECOMMENDATION, she purchases a policy with CHW based on the positive reviews - turns out we should have went to Yelp or Twitter because that is where the real story lies. We jointly buy a condo. We get a home inspection to include the AC unit. It gets checked, all issues resolved, it works fine. Again, I recommend a home warranty with CHW, she PAYS for a policy on July 22 and unfortunately her AC unit fails on September 8. No problem right. It has been more than 30 days so we refer to the terms of the agreement (not) to be sure and confirm you cannot place a claim for 30 days.
She calls and gets a claim number, repairman contacts her, comes out next day, going pretty well right? WRONG! He diagnoses a bad condenser fan motor, explains what that means, explains that it is not uncommon. He reports it to CHW, makes arrangements to return after he gets the part and then departs. Still ok, right? WRONG! He calls her back saying the claim is denied because it was an unknown preexisting condition.
She contacts Claims at 1:22 on September 10 and spoke to someone. He explains that her claim was denied because it occurred less than 30 days after the policy was accepted and in effect. Well she purchased the policy on July 22 and the policy is accepted and in effect on August 22, what is the problem? He explains that since she placed a claim before another 30 days (September 22), it is considered pre-existing and denied. Incredulous, she asks "so if I had made this claim on the 22nd (a mere 12 days later) you would have honored it?" and the person responded yes!!!!
I learn about this and am flabbergasted! She calls Kysha at 1:46 and wants to speak to a Supervisor. Kysha states that she is a supervisor and confirms the 30 day window. Again, 12 more days and this is OK, "yes" Kysha responds. My daughter mentions what is the point and why that additional condition isn't in the terms of agreement; she mentions that she should cancel. Keisha responds: "No problem, I can connect you to cancellations." What? This is a supervisor of claims? Aren't they supposed to keep customers?
So now we have an arbitrary, undisclosed additional time condition and a Claims Customer Service Supervisor that does not care if you remain a customer!Again, we scour the terms of agreement and decide to try again; maybe Kysha was recorded and got fired for her insolence. So at 2:20, we get Andy. He was very nice and professional but he reiterates the additional 30 days and confirms that if she had waited or the incident had occurred after the 22nd, the claim would be honored.
Now it is 93 degrees in South Carolina and she has a dog that stays at home. An arbitrary date is posed and her only recourse is to wait 12 days? Again, the 30 days is arbitrary - where did it come from. "It is what we use" is his response. Today is September 11. Since yesterday, I have personally called 3 HVAC professionals and they all respond the same. There is no way to gauge when the part can fail. If they can't do it, how can Andy.
Today, at 2:13 we call and talk to Arkim, who is also a supervisor. I explain what we have found and we explain our contention that it is arbitrary AND NOT BASED ON ANY FACT AND FURTHERMORE IT IS NOT STIPULATED IN THE TERMS OF AGREEMENT. He apologizes, and reiterates the 30 day requirement. I explained in the beginning and at the end that I needed to talk to someone above him. He said he would put me through to a manager. So shortly after word, a male voice comes on the phone and asks in his best sultry voice "hey what's up". And now we are with Russ, the Customer Claims manager. After excusing himself for obviously mistaking me for somebody else I am guessing probably not his special treatment for a special customer, huh? We go round and round and when he interrupts me, he says I am talking over him.
I explain the arbitrary notion that we had been told and he goes on about normal wear and tear can't be a couple of weeks so it has to be preexisting. I ask what that is based on and he states that is just how it is. He further explains to me that there is no one else to talk to he is it. No matter what I do it will come back to him and he will reject it again. I ask about the corporate office and he says he is the corporate office and that he has the full power and authority to resolve this issue but it is rejected and that will never change. When I pointed out that I find it hard to believe he is in the corporate office which his Sultry come on introduction on the phone, he responds that he gets a lot of internal calls!!! So now he is the corporate customer service guru that gets a lot of internal calls that warrant his sultry response - I hope not but I guess we will see because again, I am on a crusade.
I am in the customer service business and I have over 54,000 customers and I am also a customer who generally understands that the person on the other phone is part of the system. However, dear sir or madam, your system is in trouble and I want you know who is representing themselves as the corporate voice for your company.
Back to Russ, I explain the HVAC opinions and he states that "they do not know what they are talking about. They are too lazy to spend the time doing a proper analysis." Well first of all, they represent CHW but you despise them? I again question the arbitrary nature of the 30 days and he now states that the other Claims customer service supervisors are wrong and no such standard exists and they should not have said that!!! I believe we have talked to 4 of them at this point and although we vehemently disagree, they were at least consistent!!!! I ask what the standard is. Is it the two weeks he mentioned earlier and he said no and denied he ever said it!!!!!
At one point I ask about the process and he explains that the HVAC techs (the lazy ones remember) send their diagnosis back to his internal techs and they make the determination. So now he wants me to believe that osmosis maybe- an internal person makes a decision about preexistence from the techs he does not trust and denies that the 4 customer claim supervisor know what they are talking about.
Kysha does not care if we cancel. Russ is obviously otherwise occupied at work. They apply an arbitrary standard that is not supported by fact or even stated in the terms of agreement and that is supposed to be a satisfying customer experience? I am doubtful this will get published by consumeraffairs (not biting the hand that feeds comes to mind) but if it does, I assure this is the truth and CHW if you record your customer interactions, you know it is too. The site says there is a written claims process so I will use it too but what if Russ is the end-all be-all?? If this ends favorably, I am the first to compliment and not just complain. If not, you will see this being told many times and in many places.
