    I had 2 fans in one room that were connected to one remote. The fans worked during the professional house inspection.     Choice Home Warranty has had my home warranty policy for 1 year and I renewed at the end of the year for another year. I had many reservations when I renewed and was not going to except that they sent a really exceptional AC guy out to fix my AC. Prior to that, I had a dryer repair and there was a deeply troubling incident with that repair.

    It took several trips and two repair companies to fix my Whirlpool dryer. The repair consisted of replacing the heating element. After the first attempt the repairmen turned on the dryer and it toasted one of the two circuit breakers for the dryer. They told me I then needed an electrician. The electrician came out and told me that the box was not up to code and that Choice would not cover it. Well, I had just replaced the box two years ago and it was permitted and inspected. I couldn't figure out how that came to be and then I realized that one of the repairmen had gone to the box and slipped of the bridge that connected the two circuits. They almost burned my house down.

    On Thanksgiving, both my heater and my refrigerator went out. The repairmen came to look at the refrigerator and said that it was shot and needed a seal job and compressor. This was denied by Choice Home Warranty on the basis that they do not cover any coolant leaks at all. The heater was repaired and then Choice denied the claim. They stated that the repairman said the capacitor was blown because of a lack of maintenance. This again was not true and the repair told me that Choice didn't ask him to asses the heater, only what the repair was and what the cost was. In my opinion, Choice is a bad choice. I'm contacting an attorney today to sue them. Every one I've talk to says the exact same thing about Choice, that they just stop paying the claims and deny them for absolutely no reason. In my case, I know for certain they lied and that they sent people to my home that had no concern for mine or my family's welfare.

    I filed a claim which necessitated an escalation to customer advocate Tracy. She more than proved herself to be competent, compassionate, and effective in resolving my claim and in issuing reimbursement for my poor machine which could not be resuscitated.     Called Choice Home Warranty the day before Thanksgiving due to dishwasher that stopped functioning. We tried to be understanding since it was prior to a busy holiday and were willing to have appointment scheduled for after Thanksgiving. Date was set up, then cancelled due to injury of repairman. Rescheduled for following week. After numerous phone calls and confusion on their part as to days/dates, and 2 visits by repairman (second one to "confirm" and report unable to repair), we were told that they will "give" us $180 to replace. There are no decent dishwashers out there for this amount of money. Not only that, they state they don't care consider install costs, delivery fees, taxes, etc. We've been told install by plumber will be $110 -- which doesn't leave one heck of a lot towards a dishwasher.

    We did not expect the complete cost to be covered, but this is insanely ridiculous as an attempt to replace a dishwasher. Besides that, it's now 12 days after the incident reported. Negotiations today have deteriorated. They have said they will give us a final offer of either replacement or dollar amount by the end of the day. Thus, my review will be modified after the fact should they deign to be more reasonable. Thus far, though, it's been a very time-consuming and frustrating experience. Since I purchased a warranty for our rental property as well as a 5-year warranty on our own home, I can only think of how long I'm going to be stuck with this company if this is the way they deal with issues.

    The pool service company that was assigned was prompt in their response. They took photos and a recording of the pool pump while in operation and determined that a new pump would be needed. They contacted CHW and we understand that CHW will pay $500 toward the new pump, and we will be required to pay the remaining cost. We knew of this because it is outlined in the CHW documents. The pool company estimated the replacement to take place by Tues or Wed.

    It's my belief that the service we received was fair, but would have like more toward the cost of our new dishwasher. I believe that's human nature, especially when you spent twice the amount you received for a new dishwasher. There the way I figure it, something is better than nothing. I still don't understand why it took 30 days for the dishwasher money, but we did get it. Life is good!

    Have had a chronic problem with one toilet in my house and a great guy from Choice came out and fixed it. He took his time (another warranty co. made 3 visits-without fixing the problem) and I haven't had any issues since. He was very professional and worked hard to release the clog that was causing the problem. I was very dissatisfied with my other warranty co. and so glad I switched.     First of all, I read many of reviews here and I found a consensus that bad reviews were deleted, which the cases was exactly same to me. I had a problem with my refrigerator and technician estimates over $1,000 for repair due to compressor exchange and his labor, but I got offered $400 from CHW for replacement. I asked how come it is only $400 even though I paid $ 95 for Sears' service fee (hence actual CHW's offered amount to me was $350 after service of $45), and they back to me with no explanation but just repeat their policy F16 - that said - "16. We reserve the right to offer cash back in lieu of repair or replacement in the amount of Our actual cost (which at times may be less than retail) to repair or replace any covered system, component or appliance".

    I am nicely asked again if you can provide me your calculation of $400, keep saying policy 16 and threaten me if I want it or not. They implied that I do not have a choice but accept their resolution. I talked to manager, but she said exactly same thing as another girl. I would accept and I'd be happy if they could reasonably explain to me and not to threaten me. This is not the way to live in this world that I believe. You just can't threaten your customer.

    I have been a loyal customer for several years. I love that I just have to pay a $45 service call deductible. I have had issues with ovens, Plumbing, washers, and dryers. The technicians are always great and they assign one within hours of your call. This claim was the first time we had to replace an appliance. They decided to send me a check. At first this was upsetting as I expected a replacement... and for an additional $100 I was able to replace my washer with another front loader that even had new features like steam.     Your contractor diagnosed the problem, ordered parts and completed the job to our satisfaction. He was courteous and competent. The only problem is that I do not understand how a motor is covered but not the motor controller nor the labor to install it. Both were required to complete the repair. Also, I don't feel that when the heat is out in the wintertime that overnight service should have been included.

    I put in service report on October 22 for dishwasher that wouldn't turn on. That afternoon I got a call from service tech and set appointment for the next day. The service tech arrived at the specified time and looked at dishwasher. Within half an hour, he told me that he wouldn't be able to repair it. He said Choice would contact me and offer replacement options. After 3 days, I hadn't heard from Choice so I called them. I was told that my only option was to replace the dishwasher. The Choice rep told me I would be receiving a check for $179.99 within the next month. They said that was average price of comparable dishwashers. They told me they didn't go by retail costs. That was October 26.

    Received the check on November 30. I have priced out dishwashers. The cheapest I can find is around $350 plus installation cost ($100-125). I called Choice and asked if they were at least going to pay the installation costs. They said they didn't do that. I was then put in touch with a supervisor who told me she could send me a check for $50. But that was all they could do for me. The reason I bought a home warranty was so I didn't have to foot the cost of replacing appliances. Paying for service call then buying a new dishwasher and paying to have it installed I am putting out at least $500. Choice is giving me $230. NOT a good experience!

    Took out a warranty with Choice Warranty in 9.28.15. They billed me one month of 69.17. On 10.28.15 they billed me twice (deducted out of my bank account two payments) $69.17 and $69.17. I told them that they could just credit me for my next payment in November. In November we had an issue with a water heater. Their rep they sent (not a license plumber) he said he was a roofer that no one wants to work for this company because they don't pay claims said we needed a new gas valve. He could not locate one. He called them and they said that they would not pay for a replacement only the gas valve. They called me and said I would get a check for 109 (and I paid the roofer a $45.00 check to **).

    When I asked what I was supposed to do their person on the phone said "Nothing." They could do take the check and fix it myself. I explained that is not what I was told when I signed up with their person. I was told if they couldn't get a part it would be replaced. I understand there is small print, but I was verbally told. I told her I was upset. She said I could cancel. I said will I still get the check she said YES. She sent me to the cancellation group and they stated I would get the check and I would not be billed and I would be paid back my October overpayment and the $19 prorated amount for the $119 for the part that broke during coverage of my policy.

    On the 28th another payment was taken from my account after I cancelled on the 24th. As of today I have only received the prorated refund. I called and was told that I will not get the prorated. I will get another $50 to $69.17 for overpayment. They will not honor their agreement to pay me the prorated or the $119 for the defective unit. I called and was told "oh well", they don't care. I am not their customer.

    I called Choice to request service on my gas range. The process was explained to me and the next morning I was called back by a service technician who came out that same day. The stove was deemed not repairable because of its age and the unavailability of parts and I was given a cash buyout toward the purchase of a new range.     Beware when you sign up!!! I have never written a service review. But I feel I have today to help prevent other customer fall in the situation I am in. When I signed up I was told that there would be no cost for cancel the service and my payment would be prorated for refund. We have hired a property management co. which does not handle home warranty so I call the Choice Home Warranty to cancel the service. I thought I would get back about half of my payment. Guess what? They prorate by month instead of days. So our coverage started on 4/24/15 and cancelled on 12/2/2015. Choice Home prorated two more months' fee plus $50 process fee. Basically you could pay extra month and $50 for cancel your policy!!

    We are claim free since the policy does not cover many things even we have total coverage. Plus the lady who serve me on phone identified herself as Sue claimed she is a manager is terrible at service. I told her the promise I received when sign up and asked for waive the $50 with my multiple warranties with the company. I have never encountered such an unreasonable customer service staff. I will write another review to talk about her horrible customer service! She does not care if I would cancel more warranties with the company and don't care if I would write out this review about today's customer service. The company is so unfortunate to have this kind of staff on duty! I would cancel all my warranties with Home Choice Warranty.

    I called to placed a claim on my dishwasher, oven, and dryer. All three had issues right after purchasing, moving into my house and getting my home warranty. The tech, sent out to look at all three, looked at my dishwasher and my oven. He asked me my problems, wrote them down and wrote down the model, brand, and serial numbers down. He told me he was going to try to get them replaced. He fixed my dryer and did a good job. He charged me $180, $60 for each appliance.

    I called 2 days later to what was going on because having an oven and dishwasher is important to have working in a household. When I called and spoke to the customer service rep and told her the amount I was charged, she informed me that they should have dropped a charge for the same tech to look at all three for once. She also informed me another rep wanted to speak to me about the repairs needed on my oven and dishwasher. This new rep told me they were not going to cover my oven or dishwasher because the oven and dishwasher were not in good condition and consider my claim pre existing based on the tech's notes.

    The units are old, I will agree. But when I got my warranty nothing was explained not covering appliance based on condition nor did they come and inspect the condition on the units when they agreed to cover them. I just purchased my house along with the warranty and $180 for the service charge. I am out a lot of money and nothing has been fixed. The rep offered to credit me a $60 charge for my next claim but I feel I was ripped off to just have a tech come, write information down on my units, attempt and fix one out of the three broken. I paid $120 for some to come write information down and for the home warranty to not even help fix the items. Plus customer service rep was rude. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND NOT WORTH EVEN GETTING. Go with a different company!

    The most apparent aspects of the Claim Team's performance are (i) their immediate availability. Meaning you could contact them right away when you need services (which in most cases are urgent). Unlike my former home service company, I had had to wait from afternoon till 11 pm to be able to talk to an agent. Main reason why I had left it; and (ii) their immediate action and close follow-up on contractor's progress. One hour after my service call, I already received an email from the team informing me of the assigned contractor for the service, and shortly after (I think 4 hours later), another email inquiring if the contractor had called to arrange a schedule. Probably because of this close follow-up, the contractor (name on your files) came to service on Sunday 11/29, then came back on Monday to replace an additional part.

    My boiler started leaking and the technician sent them pictures and Choice warranty come to the conclusion that there was some rust and because of that they would not cover it!! I had never receive my policy and at my request they emailed it to me and they have listed more things that they do not cover than they would cover!! I remember at the time I purchased the warranty they would not send me the policy to review. They told me after I purchase it they will mail me and if I didn't like it I could cancel. If I had seen the policy I would have never bought it. Please please read the policy before you give them your money. These are classy con artists.

    I went with the reviews on this site and now regretting my decision to go with Choice Home Warranty. My first claim for repair of a built-in microwave was turned down for flimsy reason that manufacturer classified it as counter top. I had this microwave repaired with American Home Shield who had no issues with fixing it. I went ahead and cancelled my 2 month old contract - they are charging 50 dollar cancellation fee. I say good riddance - I don't have to deal with this fraudulent company any longer. So, please beware of all good reviews written here.

    I bought a total home warranty plan from this company. Back to May 2015, my air conditioning had no cool air but everything else worked fine. I called for service. The technician Mr. ** from Faddai Maintenance and home repairs came and seemed not know anything about the package heating and air conditioning system. He worked on my system for 7 hours and broken the whole system. He even did not give me any document and did not ask me to pay the service fee of $45. When I called Choice Home, no one cared about. I talked to the claim manager and he asked me to hire my own technician to check the system. I hired one hours to check the system for $89. But I called back and tried to get repair scheduled. No one answered my request. End up, I hired my own service provider and paid $4,400 for replacement plus the $89 diagnoses fee.

    Two days ago, my washer couldn't run the whole cycle. I called Choice Home and they assigned a service company which scheduled a diagnoses appointment 3 days later. I checked online on this company which did not have customer review. I am really hesitating to use Choice Home Warranty's authorized technician firms and risk of the washer broken like the air conditioning... I filed a complaint with Maryland state consumer affair but since my property is a rental home, they asked me to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. I just don't get a chance to file it yet. Anyway, I never buy home warranty from this company after this policy expires!!!

    Solar Mechanical Works was dispatched to repair my dishwasher. It took 3 trips to replace a water inlet valve, total almost 3 hours. Tonight he was here for 1 1/2 hours. A large part of which was troubleshooting because he did not turn the water back on and thought it was the valve. Their communication is also very bad.     First of all, I bought the policy in August 2015, and until today, had never received a copy of the policy I purchased. I had to ask them to email me a copy of my policy. When I bought the policy, I added pool/spa equipment coverage, which I paid extra for. Yesterday, I discovered we had a circuit board burn up on my main pump motor, and the pool pumps were not working. I placed a service call to Choice to repair the damaged pool pump motor. They sent out a technician who told me upfront that Choice is very picky about what they will cover.

    Sure enough, they denied the coverage based on the exclusions written in my policy. After looking at the LENGTHY list of exclusions for pool/spa equipment, I called the company that built my pool, read them the list of exclusions for pool/spa equipment, and asked them what WOULD be covered on my pool based on these exclusions. They told me that there is NOTHING on my system that would be covered on my policy. NOTHING!!!

    Choice Home Warranty IS A RIP-OFF!!! I have filed 3 claims with them since I took out the policy in August. They have DENIED 2 OF THE CLAIMS!! One for a leak in my AC evaporator coil, the technician they sent out told me that it could not be repaired, and the evaporator coil needed to be replaced. Choice told me that they would not cover it because the leak MIGHT have occurred before my policy was in place. KEEP THIS IN MIND, there is a 30-day waiting period for filing a claim once the policy has been written, and we are in Texas, where it is 100 degrees + in August. We called in the claim as soon as the AC quit cooling. THERE IS NO WAY WE WENT WITHOUT AC FOR 30+ DAYS!

    I had American Home Shield for 15+ years, and I thought they were bad, but in the 15+ years I was with them, I NEVER had 2 claims denied. Choice has denied 2 claims IN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS I HAVE HAD THE POLICY. STAY AWAY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!! You are better off flushing your money down the toilet!
