    Our garbage disposal started to leak when used on Christmas. It did not leak the rest of the time, so it needed work but was not an emergency. It took Choice Home Warranty a couple of days to find a contractor in this rural area, but that was ok. The contractor called us right after Choice called with their name. The contractor was cordial and replaced the garbage disposal quickly. Overall, a very positive experience.

    Salesperson from this company sold me the best plan they offer: Total Plan. "You get peace of mind" was the tag line he used. He said everything is covered. In their website they have tick marks for all the boxes for this plan. It looks like there is a booklet with all the exclusions that is not covered. They send this after you signup and pay for the policy. Why do they name a policy as Total Plan" and have hundreds of exclusion?

    9 months down the line my HVAC system breaks down, guess what after multiple phone calls a technician comes and says 1 part in the 100s of part's a HVAC system uses is not covered under your "Total Plan". Technician who does my annual maintenance says dampers. Had to spend countless hours with useless repeating the same story with their service dept. Don't buy insurance from this company. Will not cover anything which is costly.

    I have a dual fuel Jenn-Air that needed repair. They sent a company who came out quickly, but Choice said the estimate was more than they would pay, so they could only give me $350 for replacement. This is a $2,000 oven that can only be replaced with the same type of slide in range with downdraft since my countertop had been specifically cut out for that. I am NOT HAPPY with Choice Warranty at all. I think they sold me a policy with unfair sales tactics. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

    This is the second time our heater has gone out in the past six months and the first company that was sent out didn't fix it. They didn't put the heater back together and left without saying a word to us. It is the middle of winter and our heater has been out for two weeks now.     The service Choice Home Warranty provided was excellent! Once calling the company & requesting service they had dispatched a local company to assist me by the end of the day. The only inconvenience I experienced was through no fault of Choice, but with the local service provider that was dispatched. Buckner Plumbing was able to get someone to me in 2 days, which was nice, but my appointment was from 1000/1100. At 1130 there was still no word from the local plumber. I called to see if he was still coming & was told I would be contacted once the individual plumber had been contacted. We tried calling the individual plumber ourselves multiple times without answer.

    At 3:30 I called the company again to see what was going on & if I needed to reschedule. The woman I spoke with was courteous & said she would call him again. Around 20 minutes later the individual plumber finally made contact & said he would be at our house in 30 minutes. Once he was here he was professional & quick with service & didn't leave a mess or anything. I understand that it is difficult to predict the needs & time of the jobs he had earlier in the day & I would want someone to thoroughly complete a task at my house before moving to the next job, but it wouldn't have taken 5 minutes to call and let us know that he was going to be very late & could've called back when he had a better idea of what time he would arrive at my house.

    On 12/21/15 the heating element in my clothes dryer failed which I discovered when the dryer kept running. Leaving me with a load of cold, almost air dried laundry. I called Choice Warranty to report the problem. Within minutes I received an e-mail from Choice repeating my problem and including the name of the electric company that would do the repair. I called the electric company to make an appointment for the 29th, the following week as I was leaving on the 22nd to go out of town. The electric company called me on the 28th to confirm the time for the next day's appointment, and on that Tuesday afternoon, the mechanic arrived on time as scheduled, made the repair in less than a half hour, and the dryer was working as good as always. This appears to be the normal procedure with Choice Warranty, as not too long ago I had a plumbing problem that I called Choice about that was repaired just as quickly and efficiently.

    When I purchased my home warranty with Choice I covered everything I had that I could cover. Explained to the representative that my townhome is now 9 yrs old and thought it was time to get coverage. A little over a month after I paid out $425.00 for coverage had the garbage disposal and washer that needed repair. They weren't going to cover either one. They finally covered the garbage disposal, replaced with new one but won't cover the washer. I call and asked what is the point of me spending the money to get the warranty if they are going to pick and choose what they want to cover? They said that it was apparent the washer was out before I acquired the warranty. So my response is don't tell me you are going to cover everything @ a cost of $425.00 out of pocket, if you aren't going to. I suggested they start sending pre-agent's to verify what is working and not working before taking my $425.00 for coverage.

We persisted and finally found a plumber who would come out; he determined that he could not fix our problem. We needed a new water heater.     On Sunday afternoon went to take a shower. Had no warm water. I called Choice right away. I was given the number to call Air 1 HVAC. I was told only one person was on duty and since it was still a holiday weekend it would be Monday morning before she could get me an appointment for service. Monday morning they called and said they would be out between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm on Tuesday. It was 1:00 pm Tuesday when Omar ** came to look at my hot water heater. He was very polite, professional and started diagnosing the problem promptly. He said my heater was in very good condition, wished everyone took such good care of their heaters. Everything was working correctly except the thermostats. He replaced the thermostats, made sure everything was cleaned up and working properly before leaving a couple hours later.     Stay away from this company. Look at the RipOff report or BBB of New Jersey. They have many similar claims against them and a judgment was recently brought against them by the Attorney General of NJ for unethical behavior. My AC quit cooling this summer. Choice sent out a tech who said the compressor went out. Four days later, he calls me to tell me that the claim was denied. I called Choice to find out why and they denied that they denied the claim. Said the tech never sent in the report (it's an electronic submission through an iPad app which was done at my house).

    Long story short, Choice left me without AC for a week. They finally told me my claim was denied (didn't see that one coming) stating a compressor can only fail for a few reasons - improper maintenance, lightening strike, power surge, etc.. None of those are covered under their policy. In other words, your compressor goes out, they always have a way to get out of fixing it.

    The technician told me he wrote on the report that compressors are electric components and can fail at any time for many reasons and it wasn't improper maintenance. As I mentioned, they have a judgment against them per the Attorney General's office. I submitted a dispute with them and the BBB of NJ. Choice finally agreed to refund the cost of my warranty ($400 is cheaper than $2000) but when I called to get my refund, they sent me papers I had to sign and get notarized stating I won't say anything negative about their company and if contacted by 3rd parties, I have to say the dispute was handled satisfactorily.

    So, they screw me out of a promised repair, and I have to be quiet? I refused their refund. Beware, this is a very unscrupulous company using scare tactics (notarized agreements) to silence people they've screwed over. I personally think this website may have a partnership with Choice. The star/review metrics are so different than any other review website. This company gets twice as many complaints as good reviews. Out of 6000+ reviews they only have 20 one star reviews??? A company that the OAG had to step in only has 20 1 stars. Fishy.

    I placed about 6 claims with Choice. Out of those claims placed 1 was approved (a light switch) and 1 (a microwave) they stated they would either replace it or pay me for it because it was too expensive to fix. All of the other claims they found some odd reason not to pay for the claim. Two of the vendors they sent out pretty much said the exact same thing. "Ma'am, they refuse to pay for most of the claims that are put in. It is very few that I've seen them actually pay for."

    They decided to pay for the microwave only reimbursing me $170.00 for it. If the microwave only costs $170.00, why would they choose reimburse me instead of just replacing it. Mind you that I've already paid the $45.00 service fee and that vendor would have returned to complete the repair had they approved to have the microwave replaced. I asked what they were basing the reimbursement cost on and they said the "national average". I looked up the cost online and that particular microwave on sale was more than $200.00. Additionally, they said it would take 30 days for them to process the claim and to send out a refund check, which holds up the process for me to get a new one.

    Since the first service call on 03/05/14, Claim # **, the ice maker has been the disaster from hell. It malfunctioned. They ended up sending out 2 different techs, both trying to do the job as cheaply as possible, neither communicating. It took 3 wks to replace. 5 mo later it broke again. They sent a different tech and it took a week to get an approval to get it replaced. He replaced it. 3 days later, it malfunctioned again. That had to be replaced. He left behind the old part that I had to pay to have picked up for junk. The ice maker has not worked properly since. Sometimes it goes days without making ice and sometimes it makes too much ice and tosses it all over the freezer.

    The unit no longer delivers water and it no longer cuts ice properly. All the ice cubes are like ice chips. I had an independent HotPoint Tech check it out who threw up his hands and told me I got royally screwed. I filed a complaint with the Florida Division of Consumer Affairs, but they would not cooperate with the State agency. Attempts at dealing with upper tier customer service were for naught. No one responded to my complaints or requests even though they've had me send documents time and again and promised to get back to me, I never hear back from them. I'm locked in. Contract # **, I bought 6 yrs upfront for cash.

    CHW is awesome! Claim service is very accommodating. I had a problem with my water heater that need to be replaced and CHW responded right away.     I would recommend CHW to every home owner. I belong to them years ago when we first build the house and now 18 years later we joined again and don't know why we ever stopped. I never will again.     I had American Home Shield for around two years. When my 15-year-old dryer broke, they opted to fix it at a cost of over 700 dollars. I was totally blown away by that decision and the below sub-par customer service and the wait time to get a representative. I cancelled my contract. I instead signed up with Choice Home. My A/C would not cool anymore so I called in a trouble call. I had a tech at my house the same day. Service was definitely better than the previous company. The tech says the entire unit will have to be replaced.

    Choice Home calls me several hours later and the rep tells me that they will not cover the cost of replacement. Why I ask, the rep tells me the condenser has rust on it. The unit is in the attic in a metal box. The rep reads off a section alpha page whatever stating that if an item has rust on it, they will not cover it. What's the point of a home warranty if they will not help the customer? They take your money but give you nothing in return. Save your 55 dollars a month. Put it in a savings account and when you need it, it will be there. All these home warranty companies in my opinion are crooks.

    Signed up with Choice on 11/1/15. On 12/6 called in for repair of hot water heater that was staying on at all times. First repair visit - replace thermostat. Now no hot water at all. Next repair visit - said that new thermostat was bad - put in another. Now back to original problem. Next repair visit broke off heating coil trying to remove damaged hot water heater. Spoke to Choice - said the problem happened before I signed up and therefore they would not cover. I asked, “How long do I have to wait before they stop blaming everything on pre-existing condition?” The operator, who was rude, said that they cannot answer that (it is up to them).

    So bottom line, the section of their service agreement that stated that they will not cover any unknown pre-existing conditions give them an out. The service person said that they will do anything possible to get out of paying a claim and told me they never replace a hot water heater. Read their exceptions before signing up. EVERY ITEM HAS EXCLUSIONS THAT MAKE THEM JUDGE, JURY AND EXECUTIONER!

    I was disappointed several times by another server... It was the first time I used Choice and decided I see how it went in 3 major fields of repair. The electrician contacted me right away, came out the next day, told me one fan couldn't be repaired, suggested I buy a new one, came back after I had the correct parts and changed two fans and 3 outlets in a speedy and efficient manner. One worked in one area and the other in another and they cross checked each other's work. The plumbers responded as well, I also needed some additional parts, called them to reschedule, they came out as agreed and worked diligently until all jobs were complete. Appliance person responded immediately, came out and fixed the problem the next day. You can't ask for better than that! I am very please and purchased a long term plan.

    I called the company to make a claim for faulty ceiling fans (Wirings, which were a fire hazard). According to my plan, ceiling fans are covered. When the technician informed them that they needed to replace the fans, we were told that they will only authorize "builders grade" fans which were about 1/2 the amount of what they actually cost.

    We had to speak to more than 9 service representatives. It took more than an hour and a half to get an understanding of what they were actually going to do. The technician actually felt as if we were be given the runaround. We were put on hold more than 10 times. (Whew) If you have a real emergency, pay for it yourself. If they say they are covering your roof, BE CAREFUL. They are not going to cover your costs. I have never endured such runaround with a company before!!! The technician kept asking, how they should submit the work order to be paid, they gave him the runaround as if they did not want to pay him. Mind you, they are taking money out of my account monthly. Is it worth the cost?

    After all the hoopla with First American Home Warranty I basically swore off home warranty companies. However I decided to go with a company with minimal cost to me and just to have a little bit of assurance, because I don't have contractors at my whim. Well I am glad I chose Choice Home Warranty Services. I was skeptical because unlike last time I did my homework this time and most of the reviews were decent. I put in a service request about my washer on 12/25/15, got a call 12/26/15. Technician from RMR came out, diagnosed the problem and today 12/28/15 got a call from Choice advising me that to repair the problem would be more than what the machine is worth and I will be getting a check for basically what I paid for the washer. This is what I am talking about. I will be getting a new washer.

    Updated on 02/02/2016: On 12/28/15 I was advised by Choice Home Warranty that I would be issued a check in the amount of $299.99. I was further advised that the check process takes 30 days and I should receive the check by 1/30/16. I was advised to call if the check was not received. I called today 2/1/16 and after being transferred to 3 customer services reps l was advised by Mesha because the check was issued the week of 1/19/16 the check was out of Choice's hands and the delivery of the check was on the post office.

    I was given the option to either pay a $30 stop payment fee or wait an additional 90 days to see if the check resurfaces. When I asked why wasn't this disclosed to me on 12/28/15 I did not get an answer. I further questioned that if all was on the Post Office was the check issued certified mail, it was not. I asked for a check #, I was advised one could not be given. The reason I believe a check # could not be given is because one was never issued. I do wish for a peaceful resolution and most importantly my check.

    I've made a claim online on Christmas which they got back to me right away with the technician information, which I thought the technician would call me. However, I had to call them since my kitchen sink backed up. I called throughout the day to technician with no callback and no answer on the phone. I contacted Choice toll free number that displays 24/7 on website, however when I called they said their offices are closed. So I emailed the emergency line with no response and I sent 2 emails on my claim with no response. I'm going on 3 days without being able to use my sink. Is Choice Home Warranty 24/7 establishment or is it false advertising on the site, and the sales person who sold me the plan lied too about 24/7 services? This is first time I had to put in a claim and deeply disturbed with the customer service. If this is the case I want my $ back.
