We had a microwave oven which broke down on us. We contacted Choice Home Warranty regarding the microwave oven. They gave us the information to contact a local company to repair the oven. We had to get a new microwave. They were very helpful in assisting us in getting a new microwave.

I have had Total Protect and American Home Shield in the past. All great to work with. Received notice last year Total Protect was no longer serving my area. Googled the best home warranty companies and Choice Warranty was the top. So I picked them and paid upfront for five years coverage, after talking to a sales rep at Choice who said Choice coverage was better than Total Protect and AMS. My experience with them has been terrible. They don't pay their vendors so when they come out - try to troubleshoot the problem, then leave they do not come back. Plus they don't cover as much as Total Protect and AMS. Your out of pocket is a lot more. So you will need to hire a lawyer to review the contract - even though when the sales rep who sold me on the contract, said Choice was better than Total Protect and AMS.
Tech they gave me - who worked on the system before - will not even return my calls over the weekend - stuck with 90+ weather with no AC. They say I have to wait 48 hours!!! Come on. I paid them for 5 years coverage up front!!! Customer Service is terrible. You spend 30 to 45 minutes waiting on hold to even talk to someone then they tell you you have to talk to someone else get someone. Then spend another 30 to 45 + minutes on hold to talk to them. You complain to top management and you get a call back 3 days later. If you don't answer the callback number they give you, you have to wait an hour to talk to someone again. Sweating in NC with no AC - and Choice Warranty Customer service does not care!!!

I called CHW on 8/16/16 after 5 pm due to my a/c unit suddenly blowing warm air instead of cold air. They told me that it would take 24 hours before my claim would be accepted and then I'd have to wait another 4 hours before I could call the supposed technician to make an appointment for them to come out and check my a/c unit. Anyone in AZ knows that a/c is very important because it gets super hot in the summer. During this time it was over 100 degrees every single day. The inside of my house was reaching 90 due to my a/c suddenly not working. I also have a minor child living with me and as much as I expressed that to the claims person, they flat refused to try to get anyone out there that night. I was forced to call another company to get someone out ASAP and the repairs were made.
I let CHW know all of this and they sent me a claims reimbursement form, leading me to believe they would reimburse me at least a portion of what I just had to shell out to repair my a/c unit. I sent back all the required paperwork along with a long letter explaining everything in detail. Their paperwork stated I would get my reimbursement in about 30 days. I reached out a couple of weeks later asking for an update and received zero response. Called in a couple of weeks after that and was told I was getting the refund, but they needed to submit it to the reimbursement team in order for them to authorize it and process it and I should received my reimbursement in 30 days. Mind you, we were nearly at 30 days from when I originally sent in all of my paperwork and now I'm being told it would be another 30 days.
Then, the next day I get an email asking me to call and they tell me I'm not getting reimbursed because I went to another company to get my a/c unit repaired due to them refusing to try and get someone out that same evening. They forced my hand and I had absolutely no choice but to go to someone else and by the time I was sent a notification that my claim had been assigned to a technician, my a/c unit was fixed. I find this company to be full of liar and scam artists. They will find any loophole to not cover costs for your repairs and also not reimburse you for money you had to put out for repairs due to them not willing to help, when that is what we pay them for.
They are just taking in all of our money we pay them each month and are not actually willing to help. I also find it rather humorous that every single dissatisfied customer comment on here is being marked as "factual basis unknown". They only want positive comments and will try to claim that all negative comments are untrue. They are liars, thieves, and scammers. Get away from this company ASAP!

When my pool motor started leaking I was anxious to see what kind of service I was going to get. The girl on the phone had me a job number and on my way within 2 minutes! Mercades worked with me to get the job completed satisfactorily. I did get the feeling they honestly care about the customer. I like the people at CHW and prefer to use the workmen who are used to working with this company. Thank you!

A to Z Plumbing was dispatched by Choice Home Warranty to resolve my plumbing issues in a timely manner over a holiday weekend. The repairs were made quickly, and completely within a short amount of time. The technician was courteous and friendly and sensitive to the activities of the family. I had company during his service call. This technician has worked for me before and I have always been pleased with his work. He has yet to have to come back and make a repeat visit to work on something he has fixed for me in the past. It is such a relief to be able to call Choice Home Warranty, and know the problem will be resolved quickly and completely. I have recommended Choice Home Warranty to others, and will continue to do so.

We called on Labor Day. Assigned a claim number Tuesday morning. Some guy answered his phone "Hello" said they would try to come out. Two days of us calling to try to get a time because we both work--finally he told choice Wednesday at 6pm. We called Wednesday at 7pm to choice to get a new tech. As of Thursday evening Choice supposedly "can't get another tech to answer their cell". I would love to give a good review but this is year two paying for a home warranty and I'm wondering if this is the service I will receive every time. This is our first claim and I'm very unhappy. 5 days today with NO AC and Choice can't find a technician. You're kidding me. Of course this will be marked "unsure if factual" like every other negative review so they can keep their high mark but I have a claim and account number. So if they do I'll see it and we will contact BBB.

I usually don't write online reviews but the experience with Choice Home Warranty has forced me to write one. All I can say is stay far away from these guys. I have been a subscriber of their "Total Plan" for about a year. This August 2016 I had to use the warranty service for the 1st time when my dishwasher broke. Started having draining issue... Firstly, they didn't even do anything for few days after I logged the service request till I called and checked. Then they sent plumber who just came and verified that it’s NOT a plumbing issue. All this process took 3 weeks with me calling Choice home warranty over and over. Only response I got was that the technician has not submitted a report. Note that this technician already took my per incident service fee.
After 3 weeks they reassigned to another repair service. This time I had to really haggle with the repair service and choice warranty as the new technician again wanted his service which I already paid to the previous guy. We refused as the contract clearly says one service fee per incident. The assessment from repair guy was that drain motor needs to be replaced. So what does choice home warranty do? They say that their "best assessment is that they will not repair the dishwasher. Instead they will pay us "$179 to replace my $800 dishwasher".
According to them I should be able to find an equally functional dishwasher for 1/5th of the price! Again more haggling and hours of time waste, they agree to repair. Now it’s one month and my appliance is still broken. Still trying to schedule a service with the technician. I'm highly dissatisfied with the speed and quality of the service. All I can say is that paying for Choice home warranty doesn't get you either cost saving or peace of mind. Just endless calls, haggling and run around.

I have had a great experience with Choice Home Warranty. I have experimented them in three previous incidents and they did just great, and yesterday it was my forth incident. My dishwasher started leaking so I filed a claim, the same day a contractor was assigned and today he dropped by and they handled the job professionally without any delays. In comparison to another similar company ** that I had tried in the past, CHW way exceeds that ** company in both price and service. The company ** keeps sending different contractors until they find the cheapest one and they keep telling me "We need a second opinion." This is not the case with CHW, they get your job done ASAP without headaches. I'll absolutely renew my contract with them.

When policy was purchased representative informed me that if appliance could not be fixed it would be replaced. I filed a claim and as it happened appliance was not able to be repaired due to parts not being available. Instead of replacing appliance company only authorize to give me a check for $320 for an oven. The cheapest oven available nowadays is over $900. Not only are they not replacing item, they are making me wait 30 days to process check. Totally ridiculous. Customer beware!!

1st claim. Washer giving me PE and FE codes. Claim # **. Called Tuesday 8/30/15 @ 11:56 am. Spoke to Claudia. Was assigned to Best Electronics. Called for appointment and given an "appointment" for Friday Sept 2nd between 12-5 pm. Called at 5:15pm to say a no show. Put me on hold and came back with he is on his way. I asked from where? Is he close? Did not know. Called at 5:40 to say he could not find house but was on my street. I went out and flagged down. # is on mailbox. I advised him he was late and he said he was stuck in traffic. I stated that he could have called as I was home from 11:45 am waiting on him. I am an hourly employee, so it cost me. He came in with an attitude and shook the washer, never pulled it out. Was gone in under 10 minutes. Said I needed shocks.
When I google LG top load washer error codes, FE says drain pump, and PE says to check wiring to control board, if okay, replace pressure sensor. Nothing about shocks. When I called for another company to come out they said no. I could do it myself and submit the paperwork. Contract clearly states they will not pay! I guess I made a big mistake going with Choice, and if I do not get a refund, I will contact the FTC and file a complaint. I am a senior on a fixed budget.

Warranty company and vendor response has always been quick and very accurate. I am a realtor and have referred many of my clients and friends to Choice Warranty company. Only complaint right now is that after this last service call for same issue, parts were to be ordered to get my freezer back down to safe temp. I've not heard back from warranty company nor vendor. After we thought freezer was fixed in June I filled it up with frozen foods. It is still not at correct temp so am afraid all food is going to have to be thrown out. Was a little surprised at having to pay for 2nd service call as well.

Unfortunately, I've had to use my warranty plan numerous times. Sometimes the process went smoothly. Other and most of the times, however, I've been left with the feeling that I'm anything but a valued customer or that my satisfaction was the last thing they were concerned about. One of the vendors they sent out literally stole the defective ceiling fan at issue and would not respond to requests or calls so that the type of unit could be identified for replacement purposes. Choice bailed on my problem and instructed me to get my own contractor at my own cost to replace the unit. They did finally reimburse me for the cost but they took 30 days from receipt of proper documentation to issue the reimbursement check.
On another claim, my dishwasher stopped working. The vendor dispatched informed them it needed to be replaced. They offered me less than $200 for a replacement when a dishwasher of like kind and quality cost well over $500. After several rounds of negotiations, they finally agreed to pay $450. That amount was still considerably less than what I had to pay for the replacement dishwasher. Again, I had to pay for the cost of the new dishwasher out of pocket and it took another 30 days for them to issue reimbursement.
These two claims overlapped and I was out of pocket nearly $800 while they took their merry time in reimbursing funds that were owed. I find it hard to believe they would subject a 'valued customer' to being out of pocket $800 for 30+ days on claims they agreed to honor. As far as I'm concerned, 'my satisfaction' was the last thing on their mind. Holding onto their money for as long as they legally could certainly seemed to be their main intent. My current claim involves a pool filter pump motor that stopped working. I submitted the claim on 9/2/16. With my pool not running, I still hadn't heard from them so I contacted them on 9/5/16. I was immediately transferred to a supervisor who informed me my claim wasn't covered. Apparently they made the assumption this was an excluded claim and saw no reason to contact me promptly when the claim was first submitted.
The determination to exclude this claim was made without discussion with me or investigation by Choice. Plus, they have wrongly interpreted the contact in their favor rather than in mine. Again, in my opinion, this is evidence they place their interests ahead of me, the customer. It certainly seems they first look for ways to exclude claims rather than to look for ways to honor claims. I find it 'interesting' that they are happy to take the premium they charge for additional pool coverage on a pool they claim isn't covered at all.
I live in a huge retirement community with over 115,000 residents. We have our own blog website and I have warned other residents considering home warranty coverage to avoid Choice and am directing them to get information from a well-known competitor (does zombie apocalypse ring a bell?). Although there have been good experiences, my multiple poor experiences with Choice have left a bad taste in my mouth about this company.

I have never seen such a level of passing the buck and finding a reason to deny a legitimate claim. CHW will exploit your claims to the best of their ability and find a reason not to work with you. Their sales office will promise you that everything is covered, and even the fine print seems to only exclude common sense damage, but then they will have one phrase or sentence that negates your claim. My air conditioning unit has a leak and they won't cover it because it had a touch of rust on it from... yup... the leak. So they will not fix my coil and if it comes down to replacing my whole unit, they will find a reason to deny the claim as well.
Keep your money and work with a more reputable company. These people are not certified by the BBB and their ratings across every agency is terrible. I spoke with the technician they sent out to my house and he told me that they deny all of the air conditioning claims as a standard answer. Every unit has some external damage so any big ticket items are not going to be covered. He told me that it is a complete waste of time to even try... And this is the guy they are sending to my house. Good luck... I will post this comment in every piece of social media that I can find for them. I hope others learn from my mistake!

There is always a "gotcha" clause that they will utilize to get out of actually paying to have your work done. I've filed reports with BBB and other areas. I have friends that work in the home warranty company and say they CHW is not a great company. I'll put it this way. You get what you pay for. This company is a cheat.

I called Choice Home Warranty on July 26, 2016 to open a claim for my ceiling fan and MT Builder was assigned as my contractor. I had to contact MT Builders. Once he came out he said he would submit the claim and call me once it was approved and he purchased the part. He never called back! I tried calling MT Builders and his voicemail was full and he never answered his phone. I had to contact CHW customer service to get them to contact him.
MT Builders finally called back and scheduled to come out 7/12/2016 @ noon to complete the repair. MT Builder called to change the time to 1:30. He ended up showing up around 2:30 - 3 pm without the correct ladder. He stated he would have to go get another ladder and would be back in about an hour. Around 4pm I called MT Builders back to let him know I had some errands to run and he could come around 6 pm and he said great. Called him back a 5:50 pm and he text me that he was in a class.
I then called him at 7 pm and he said he could come then and I told him, "NO it was getting late" and he could reschedule for 8/19/16 which was the following friday and my next available day off. Given his poor customer service and communication I did not want to take time off unnecessarily. He came out at 8:30 am on 8/19 with the correct ladder but had the wrong piece for the fan. He said he would order the correct piece and call me back that evening. That was the last time I heard from MT Builders.
I called CHW that Saturday to request a new contractor and they assigned Harris Electric. Once again I called Harris Electric and left a message to schedule an appointment to fix my ceiling fan. Once again I did not receive a return call. I tried to more time and had to once again call CHW to get them to contact Harris electric. The representative from CHW stated that they had spoken to Harris Electric and he was going to call me.
I immediately called Mr. ** and he said he would come of that evening around 6pm and would call when he was on his way. I have not heard from Mr. ** since. I called CHW the following day which was 8/26/2016 to have them assign another contractor and was assigned TJ Tech Enterprise. I spoke with TJ Tech Enterprise immediately and he stated he would give me a call on 8/29/2016 to schedule an appointment. I have not heard from TJ Tech Enterprise since.
I called CHW back to see about getting the $45 refund that I paid to MT Builders since he never completed the work and my fan had not been repaired and was told that I could not receive a refund because that is their fee for coming out. That explains MT Builders lazy attitude on completing the work. MT Builders was more concerned in soliciting work on the side rather than completing the task at hand. I would never refer nor hire MT Builders to do any work for me or anyone I know!
On 7/26/16 I also had the representative open two additional claims for me ** and **. MT Builders was assigned the claim #**. Upon a follow-up inquiry with CHW I was told the claim was denied because CHW does not do any repairs on the outside of the home. Please note that garage door and door bells are listed as a repair item when you are filing a claim. I purposely called in the claim because I wanted to be sure the claim would be approved. When called back to find out why the claim was denied and told the representative that I called in to file the claim and asked why the representative didn't let me know that at the time. Her response was the representative should've been aware and she would note that. I feel CHW contract is poorly written and they also hire poor contractors to provide the service. For these reasons and experience I will not be renewing my CHW contract when it expires.

The guy cancelled our first appointment then came the next day and said he needed to order parts. We were told the part would be ordered but that it would only take 2-3 days to come in. The part took 7 days to arrive. We scheduled service for the repair and were told the repairman would be at our home on a Wednesday. Then he cancelled and said he would be coming by some time between the hours of 2-6 pm on Friday. It is now SUNDAY at 8 pm and still no repairman has showed up! I'm furious. He told us he would be here yesterday (Sat) at 11 am. Then he said he couldn't make it because there was a tree down blocking his car.

Air conditioning broke. The technician sent by Choice said unit was in good condition. While the technician was literally still on the phone reporting the condition of the unit and what the problem was, I received a call from Choice denying the claim saying it was due to poor maintenance. When I asked how they can determine that when the technician says it's in good condition and they didn't ask him to tear it down to diagnose the cause, they said maintenance is the "main" reason it would break down.
They said I can get a second opinion (even though their own technician disputes the finding). I asked for their dispute procedures in writing. Guess what...they don't have formal dispute proceedings. I asked to speak to a manager and was told a manager would call me. Guess what... no call. Choice will now dispute the "factual basis" in this review to keep their ratings high, even though the events I am relaying are accurate. Choice is not the first home warranty company with which I have dealt but it is the first with which I have had any problem. I switched to Choice because they offered (supposedly) broader coverage. I had a claim earlier which they rightfully denied; no issue but in May I had a large claim which should have been, under the terms of the policy, covered which they, in Catch -22 reasoning, wrongfully denied. When they realized after several layers of "supervisors" and remaining on hold each time for unreasonable periods that I would not go away, we agreed to simply cancel the contract and I was to receive a refund of the premium after I signed a release. I did and faxed it back to Choice with an express request for a confirmation of receipt (although I had a transmission receipt).
Not only did Choice not confirm it after over a month and more calls they claimed to have not received the release. I sent it again and had another transmission receipt. Same deal. More frustrating calls. I sent it again. Another month and finally I received the refund THREE months after settlement. Obviously they wanted to hold my money or wait until I just gave up. This is not a company to be trusted. You purchase a home warranty to insure risk; with Choice, you can almost be assured of aggravation.

DO NOT CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY. The Customer Service people will be rude, overtalk you, and never assist you in solving your issues. Truthfully, I would not have had a problem with the quoting of the policy prior to the technician arriving at my home. I would have fussed that why would I have a policy for a 3500 sf home that only covered the warranty for 1 ceiling fan, 1 toilet, etc. My mistake for not reading the fine print, but to have a technician complete the repair work, and allow him to leave knowing he would not be paid for the work, and expecting me the homeowner to pay for what was approved on the work order is reprehensible. The Customer Service Supervisors I spoke to were rude and unwilling to listen. The Customer Service Managers I spoke to kept referring to policy. I requested the policy on 4 occasions since I started with the service and have yet to receive the policy paperwork.
I am a single mother who does not know how to repair items in my home, and thought this company was reputable in their dealings. I find that nothing except exceptions are in their policy. It has cost more time and energy in dealing with these people than it would have been to contact a repairman. All this is is a company who will take your money and not cover the essentials of your home.
THE STORY: I called in a request for a repair for 4 ceiling fans to be repaired. I spoke to a customer service agent over the telephone, told her where the fans were located, when they stopped working, etc. I get a work order for 4 ceiling fans within 2 hours and a technician name who will be repairing the fans. The technician calls to make an appointment to repair the fans. He goes over the work order he received and discusses what may be the problem. Technician arrives to repair the ceiling fans and completes the task. I pay him the required technician rate. Within 30 mins after the technician leaves, I receive a phone call from CWH that only 1 of the fans will be covered. That he was not authorized to repair 4. I explain that I requested 4 and if he was not supposed to fix 4 why did the work order not specify that only 1 would be covered. Per the policy the customer service agent tells me, that only 1 fan is covered.
As well I the repair of the fans, I also requested to have 2 toilets repaired and a leak under the kitchen sick repaired. The work order stated where, what needed to be done and the technician made an appointment for this repair. After the technician stopped the toilets from running, which is what the work order stated, I receive an email stating nothing would be covered. I speak to a customer service supervisor who stating that the policy covered normal wear and tear and that the policy would not cover the replacement. I tried to explain that I was not requesting replacement, but repair, which the technician had already done. He repaired the flow valve. I purchased the parts and he repaired. The Supervisor kept interrupting me when I asked why would the policy not cover that. When she finally stopped talking and listened, she said "Oh I understand. That's not what I have in the system, but we won't cover it anyway."

We are extremely happy with our Choice of Choice Home Warranty!! Yesterday (8/30/2016) we woke to a problem with our air conditioning unit. The outdoor unit would not turn out and the house was already getting hot! (We live in the South and heat indexes of 100-105 this week!) Promptly at 8am, I was on the phone and "talking to a real person" in less than 2 minutes of total on-hold time. She was concerned about our problem and efficient. By 9:30am someone had called and by noon a repair tech was onsite. My wife stated that he was. It was a simply bad part and he was a courteous polite young man. He replaced that and was DONE by 12:55pm. In less than 5 hours, our problem was reported, escalated, dispatched AND resolved! Again, we couldn't be happier with Choice Home Warranty and will use this experience to Refer-A-Friend to receive the same quality experience. Thank you Choice!

When I signed up for the home warranty I was assured that they would cover any major appliance at any age. My contract was active 7.29.15. On 9.19.15 my AC units went out. They were older units and weren't cooling. It was over 110 degrees here in AZ and the house would not cool off in either part of the house. I contacted Choice Home Warranty for my first claim. They seemed to care and sent a company out right away. They explained to Choice that my units were so old that they could not be repaired because the parts aren't even made any longer. I waited for them to make a decision. I submitted my maintenance invoice immediately and they denied the claim.
I have now hired an attorney as they are in breach of contract. They stated because in the course of preventive maintenance the technician "fixed" something it was a "repair" invoice and not a "maintenance" invoice. I am not backing down from this fight. I want them to make things right and abide by their contract. I am not giving up.

I phoned them and left a voicemail. At :00 pm Friday I phoned CHW and informed them I was NOT notified. They assured, after calling the contractor I will be called. It was 30 minutes later and stated it was too late to come out. They will be out first thing Saturday morning. NEVER SHOWED. I had it reassigned and they arrived Monday morning. They found I have a blocked condenser and the unit was in good CLEAN condition. Guess what, DENIED for improper maintenance. Now it is Tuesday 9:30 PM and my home is at 86 degrees with a known ASTHMATIC child that CHW does not care about.
I phoned the NJ Attorney General Insurance Fraud department and waiting for a callback. Was told they will replace the condenser but I must pay for labor. I said NO because the NEW R410A condenser is NOT compatible with my house air handler... This is how they treat their customers. Oh, I also have a second claim for my dishwasher and for a 2 year old unit they offered me $170.00 as a replacement cost because the cost was too high for a repair. I said they are crazy that I want it repaired or replaced. They up'ed the cost up to $250 and I still said NO. This is how they make deals. I am writing this review in hopes no one else decides to chose this company expecting excellent or even satisfactory service. On Saturday, 8/27/2016 we had a problem with a pipe bursting in the wall in our bathroom. I called Choice Warranty (5 times - beginning at 6:17 pm, 6:33 pm, 6:45, 6:48, 6:51 pm) to report this and start a claim. I had my insurance company - USAA on the line during three of those calls, doing a three-way. Each time the call was ended with a recorded goodbye after telling me the office was closed and call back during regular business hours.
So Monday morning, August 29, at 9:52 am, I called again, received a claim number and told the representative that the crawl space of my home was flooded and we had to turn the main valve to the pump off, leaving my home without water.. we live in a rural area and have a well. That meant no toilets, no showers, no laundry, no dishwasher and the list goes on. We found a plumber on our own as we were told the technician Choice would provide would take possibly 24 hours. As this was obviously an emergency, we decided not to wait at that time for Choice to contact us by email.
After speaking with a plumber we decided the work would be extensive and we called Choice back at 1:08 pm and advised to find a plumber for the job. Once again I explained it was an emergency as we could not stay in the home without ANY water and were being put into a hotel by our Insurance company, USAA. As of this typing of this review we have NOT been contacted by Choice, even though they stated "80% of the technicians contact the customer within 4 hours to set up an appointment."
Well what happens when it is an emergency and after 24 hours you still have not been contacted by the company (Choice), that regularly takes the monthly fee from your bank account? I do not consider this at all in any term to be consistent with the terms of service agreed to be provided... do you? Don't experience service like this... in fact the two other times we contacted Choice, 1x for a dryer claim and another for central air claim, this same problem occurred. Time for us to leave and go to the company, a TotalProtect and pass the word to every single homeowner we know. ADVISE... please don't choose Choice Warranty!

This time, FINALLY, someone bothers to give me a claim number. They apologize profusely and in a phony, read-off-screen about incident. Same day, a contractor calls, from CHROME DOME APPLIANCE (CDA) - remember that name - and claims can be there same day. Light at end of tunnel.
Tech comes in, inspects issue, diagnoses it, leaves saying "I will have an answer 'by end of the day.'" Next morning, call CDA. A ... female (will avoid using other choice words) treats me as if I am what a bird left on her shoulder. Informs me the tech lied, because they can only even CONTACT CHW after TWO DAYS. This sounds a bit weird but, who knows, maybe they were having a bad day at CDA.
04 August, TWO DAYS LATER, they have not yet sent the diagnostic to CHW. Yes, the diagnostic done on 02 August. Call CHW, which follows the same empty read-off-screen-card inane apologies. When I complain about the whole issue, am given "the treatment". Request a manager, said individual doesn't let me speak. YELLS at me and basically calls me a liar. His name was "David" (hahaha), in case anyone is curious. I remark that, if they take TWO DAYS to CALL CHW, this is a bad sign. Am informed, in an sneering manner, after a 25 minute hold that I can call someone else and they would reimburse costs up to a point. As it turns out, this "point' is about $100 less than the cost of a legit, actually professional service.
06 Aug - Calls to CDA for status are met with actual screaming from some female, with car and kid's noises in the background. They actually cuss out my wife. End of story with CDA. Call CHW, demand someone else. Doing research on CHROME DOME APPLIANCE, it turns out they are scammers, a couple of married felons, with Grand Theft and Fraud on their PUBLIC RECORDS. Choice Home Warranty not only employed, contracted but sent CRIMINALS into my home. I contact CHW Twitter's customer service (tired of being yelled at by phone) and am told by a "Kelley" to submit details by email. Email is sent with all info. Bounces back stating a server error. Contact CHW so-called "customer service" account, again, they supply another email address. Rinse, repeat. Same error.
FINALLY, we threaten Legal action, given contract terms of deadlines have been flouted. So, the song changes. They are actually polite, now, and send someone else, who is entirely unlike the CONVICTED FELONS they sent the first time. TODAY, 26 August, I am informed that parts have arrived and repair will be conducted. Still waiting, couple of hours to appointment, totally skeptical, but hoping against hope.
Choice Home Warranty is an unprofessional, monkey business outfit, without a shred of respect or regard for their customers. I have never met such outrageously disrespectful treatment by their own and contracted offices. **, and am looking into other services for appliance insurance. Shame on you, Choice Home Warranty. My only negative comment is that when I was buying this policy the biggest selling point was that if my item could not be repaired it would be replaced. When my washing machine was determined to not be repairable was told I would get a check for 300.00, yet I paid 500.00 for my dryer. That is not replacing my old dryer. That is replacing part of it, or my having to replace it with a inferior dryer. But overall I will have to say I'm overall happy with service. I would also like to add that when I called Choice with initial problem, I was called by the repair service within 15 minutes, and repairman was at my house within the hour. I called said technician, he's 2 HOURS AWAY! He denied the service call. Thus resulting in me having to call Choice Home Warranty back and let them know... Now the 48 hours they have to find someone starts completely over. It has been 80-88 degrees in my house for over 24 hours and they can't give me any kind of time frame of when the service that I pay $50 a month for can be rendered. So, since my 6 year old's health is at risk, they offered to reimburse me for me to pay out of pocket to get the air fixed. If I was able to afford upfront costs associated with this type of thing, I wouldn't need a home warranty. Claim was still denied.
After 10 days we heard nothing from Choice, during a summer heat advisory in our area. Fortunately, our tenants got through it OK. Choice had NO evidence that there was a maintenance issue at fault. We have a home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. While we were down during vacation this August we noticed that the upstairs system was not functioning properly. To make this worse than just the upstairs being warmer than normal, we were in the middle of a major heat wave with temps easily reaching 100 and the heat index nearing 110! I was told to expect a call within 24 hours from the repair man. I could not believe it when I was called within 2 hours. The rep was very professional as well as prompt. I figured that it would take a few hours between picking up parts and the normal coffee break.
I received another call within 2 hours. The repair was made within 1 hour. The system was up and running and started cooling down the home. A job well done. This is not the norm for me to put this much effort into a review but with all of the elements coming together as well as the service man's efforts to do a good job and then actually doing so...well I felt that at a minimum this was the least that I could do. It seems that people are quick to give negative feedback but I believe that we should also give positive feedback when a good job is done!!! Thanks again to all involved and I would recommend this contracting company to everyone!

We purchased this insurance and paid 2 years upfront. I also referred several coworkers at the time. To this date we have all had nothing but horrible experiences with Choice Home Warranty. All of my coworkers that didn't pay upfront has decided to cancel their policies. When you sign up with Choice they take your money and ask you nothing about your appliances, furnace, home etc. They will dispatch out a company and appear to be helpful until the company recommends a replacement and not a repair. For example, my air condition went out, Choice demanded to see all of our inspections for our air conditioner unit. When we could not produce all of them, they immediately denied the replacement or even a compressor for my air condition unit.
People do not sign up with this company. If you need an expensive replacement they will deny you and tell you to read the fine print in the contract. A supervisor reminded us that it clearly states that you have to have records of all of your annual inspections per manufacturer's warranty. This will get them out of it every time. For the most part before summer and winter we had inspections done but could not produce all records and thus was denied. They didn't want to hear anything from us and was totally rude quoting the contract.
This repair will cost us over $3,000. We became upset and tried to cancel and request a refund on our policy. A manager informed me that even though I paid for a couple years upfront, my refund would only be under $100 because of cancellation penalties as stated in the contract. If we all took the time more time to read the contract, we wouldn't sign up. I should have kept my money to pay for my A/C replacement. I will tell all of my family and friends to avoid Choice Home Warranty. I definitely will not renew and anyone that I referred will cancel without hesitation.

I would like to give Choice Home Warranty a rating of 5 stars for taking the money first, then giving excuses for not repairing my daughter's appliances. No one likes to read one star reviews, so I thought that I would change the 5 stars to the lowest score. My daughter called Choice four different times to repair different things in her house. Oh yea, the reason that I'm involved in this matter is I bought myself and my daughter and her husband a Contract with Choice. I bought Choice for them as a Christmas Present.
Anyway back to what I was typing. My daughter called Choice on four different claims. The first call was for a leaking Washing Machine. Choice Tech person came and stated that he could not repair the washing machine because it was a rubber seal. The second claim was for the dishwasher, and another tech had an excuse for not repairing it. I don't remember that excuse. The third claim was for the A/C, the tech told my son-in-law that they can't fix it until he replace a bent bracket. The fourth time my daughter called filed a claim for the water heater. The tech said that he cannot replace it because the drywall needed to be repaired first. My daughter and her husband got the drywall repaired and called the tech back. He stated that he could not repair or replace the water heater because something was leaking at the top of the water heater.
If you think that I am angry, I'm not. I just learned that Choice Home Warranty has a lot of complaints like this one in the Yelp website. Look it up and read some of them. You will find that this is a common practice of Choice hired Techs. Now, don't get me wrong they warn you before you buy their product in their Contract. So, read their Contract before you buy or else you will end up like many, many people and feel like a victim for purchasing their Warranty. I gave them 5 stars because there are no zero ratings, and I would hope that this review is helpful.

So I called. It was Saturday so the guy said it was too late to come. They will be there Monday. We called by 1:00 because they said they would be there by noon. So they didn't come on Monday so I called on Tuesday. They said they would be there. They even called me and said within the hour. No show again. I called Tuesday late afternoon and the girl in the office was very rude and said, "I don't know who you were talking to but you were never on the schedule" and she said she will put me on the schedule for Thursday.
They came. I paid 45.00 for them to say they have to get it approved by Choice. The next day Choice asked me to call them only to be told that they need access to the kitchen ceiling and I needed to get someone to open the ceiling which I would have to pay for. Then they can come and fix it. By this time I was so stressed and I even told them my mom is 90 years old and she has to come downstairs to use my bathroom. So the next day my boyfriend brought his plumber over and 40.00 problem fixed!!! All they had to do was snake the toilet. We hardly use the range and when my hubby went to use range on July 10, 3 of the 5 burners were not working. I told him, "No worry, we joined the home warranty company." Boy was I wrong. I will say the customer service for the company is pretty good compared to others, but the policies they provide are filled with fine print. Most claims pretty much are going to be you fighting with them on what they do and don't cover. My example was that I have a refrigerator that needed repair on the ice maker, but apparently a certain part is not covered so they wouldn't repair. That seems like such a common thing to be repaired and would be covered. A lot of little things like that made the yearly fee not worth it to me. I expect if an appliance is covered or anything, the whole thing should be covered and not just the inexpensive things. If you can't turn a profit this way then don't cover the item at all. I tried to cancel and get my money prorated, but they essentially told me to sue them. Choice Home Warranty seems to do shady business with fine print and excuses at every turn. Not sure what I expected, but I expected more.

We called Choice Home Warranty, who we have appliance insurance from, to get a person to come out to work on our AC. Choice Home Warranty sent a person from Situation LLC ** July 29. The repairman seemed to be unsure of what to do. He drove a Suburban and didn't have the tools he needed to do the job. He took off the capacitor and the start-up kit. The capacitor was replace with a new one but the start-up kit was not put back on July 30. The AC was then working worse than before.
I called the home warranty company to complain about the first guy and to request a different company to come out and check the unit. I told them that I felt like the first company was incompetent and they took advantage of us. The second company that came out told us that the start-up kit was missing and the capacitor was replaced. The second repair person didn't know of a reason that the start-up kit would be taken off and he described it as "weird." My complaint is that the first company Situation LLC contracted through Choice Home Warranty was neglectful and essentially broke our AC unit causing us a great expense. Choice Home Warranty is denying coverage for the repairs that the first person, that they contracted with, caused.
The second repair company informed us that we needed an acid wash. The first person never said anything about any additional servicing that needed to be done. Choice Home Warranty is denying coverage because the second company said we needed an acid wash. The second repair person said that the acid wash would not have prevented the start-up kit or the capacitor from going out. He said these things just break over time. If the first person had diagnosed the problem correctly and put all of the parts back on we would not be having this problem.

When I complained the 4th time they did not get back to me, they apologized and sent someone out right away. The guy was great and fixed my problem.
3 months later, the problem came up again. I called and they said they'd call back in 24 hours. We called on Sunday and we were told that someone would be at our home on Monday morning. The technician came and discovered the problem. By Tuesday afternoon, we had everything working again.

I have been a customer of Choice Home Warranty for several years. I am now canceling. We called out a technician to check out our air-conditioning that was not working. When he discovered the problem I asked him to contact Choice Home Warranty. He did and was told they did not Warranty my type of air handler. He told me he had never talked with more naive people. When I called I found them to be very unresponsive. I would warn everybody not to get involved with Choice Home Warranty. This also happened to a friend of mine. I feel bad for having recommend Choice Home Warranty to him. He also has since cancelled.

My A/C recently went out during one of the hottest days of the year. I contacted Choice and opened a new claim. The tech was able to come out the following morning to diagnose and fix the problem which turned out to be low Freon in the outside unit. Tech was very professional and informative. Excellent service.

First technician abandoned job. Could find right size kitchen drain cap to cover drain. Caused water damage and mold issues and hasn't replaced a technician for over four days causing further damage and health concerns as I am a cancer patient. All supervisors have been rude and lack follow-thru or concern stating that they're bound by their queue to find a technician which negates "Safety of your family comes first." I will never recommend this company to an individual or to other companies wanting to contract.

Contacted CHW about my Heartland stove and they sent a couple of guys who seemed very disorganized at best. They took out the drawer below the stove even though I told them there was no access around it. Then spent almost an hour "reinstalling" it! Bent the slides and generally gave me the impression they knew nothing about my stove (or much else from what I saw). Two weeks later CHW contacts me to say they can't get the parts and will give me $300 towards replacement!!! This is a $8700.00 stove!!! I told them no and I would find parts. I called Heartland and found that they still have parts. I passed this mail to CHW who said no. They sent me a check for $300 but this will only buy one of the 3 switches their tech said I needed. I suggest everyone stay away from these swindlers!!!

I bought my house in February. I called Choice Home warranty after my air conditioning stopped working during the sweltering heat on July 27, 2016. I called and reported that I was experiencing an outage. It took them days to get back with me to send someone out. In the meantime it being 96 outside, I had to go to my sister's house to stay with 3 children and pets because of the temperature inside my house. The technician stated that the compressor was out. The CHOICE HOME WARRANTY CALL CENTER told me that it was due to not properly maintaining the unit.
I have a copy of the paper that the HVAC company reported to CHOICE HOME WARRANTY and it DOES NOT STATE what they are telling me!!! This is truly fraudulent practice!!! I have written to my State Representative, State Senator as well as Governor Bill Haslam. I am reporting to the consumer and insurance division of the State of Tennessee. I will be contacting Don Dare on ABC WATE Channel 6 to investigate publicly. CHOICE HOME WARRANTY was issued a cease and desist order by the State of Washington that they cannot sell their product! I have also contacted my local realtors association and they will not advise their customers to sell this warranty.

I had an issue with the a/c and contacted the CHW for a claim. A tech was sent to my house to diagnose the problem. It turned out the the inner jackets of the air ducts are deteriorating and as a result the air flow is limited to two of my bedrooms. Nowhere in the contract does the warranty say it will not cover this and the technician didn't understand why.
I have tried on numerous occasion to contact CHW, only for them to have phone issues or hang up on me. They say the tech said that they don't cover collapsed ducts. The technician DID NOT say that... I have tried to contact them by phone and for the last 4 days they claim to have phone problems. The CSR's either hang up or say they can't hear you. Then they transfer you and then the calls are hung up. I paid $340.00 for this warranty and they refuse to cover the issue. I would like to get a refund but cannot get through to that department either. I would NEVER recommend this company nor will I ever throw away my money another warranty.

On Thursday July 28th, 2016, we reported that we had no hot water. The Choice people said they would have a plumber get in touch with us to fix the problem. The plumber called back about in about an hour and half, and said he would be here Friday morning between 8 and 9. He showed up at 8:00 promptly, he checked the water heater and said it was not the problem and had me check the breaker switch. I checked it and it had thrown the breaker. He said it could have been a power surge that caused the problem, I paid him the $45 dollar copay and he left. So far the water is still hot. Very nice man, wish I had thought to check the breaker switch before calling, but all is good for now.

We have been paying for this home warranty every year for about 3 years. We have never made any major claims. Our air conditioner went out. We filed a claim and had a technician came out and said our AC was not repairable. We had done all the maintenance for keeping the unit up to date. We sent in all the documents they requested for proof and they denied our claim. Choice Warranty is a rip off!!

I had this warranty company for 1.5 years, without any claim. My a/c broke down because of the compressor failing. They denied the claim with excuse of it being "improperly maintained", and that being the reason they won't cover. After advising that I have regular tune-ups performed on the system, with the last one being done 6 weeks before the breakdown, they still said, "Well, it wouldn't have failed if it was properly maintained." That was an exact quote from the person I spoke with. So, any system I have, you can just say it wasn't being properly maintained (despite tune-ups showing the contrary), and deny whenever you please. Terrible way to treat a customer!

Had compressor go out on the A/C unit. The unit is 18 years old. I was turned down because I did not maintain the unit. That is a lie. I sent in proof that it was maintained and that was also verified by the tech they sent out to check the unit. Then they said I had to add Freon which was a repair and that disqualified the unit. The Freon was added when we had the unit checked when we moved in to make sure all was okay. That to me is proper maintenance of the unit. They have a million excuses why they wouldn't cover the A/C. They just did not want to pay for an expensive repair. Eats into their bottom line. I do not recommend Choice Home Warranty as they will cheat you, lie to you and not do what they say in their ads.

I call for microwave repair. First question they ask "What's wrong with it?" I told them it's making weird noise. Customer service person told me, "Oh it's working. We can't do anything!!!" That's means I have to wait until it's totally stop???!! After little argument they send us the technician and they denied to repair. Reason was microwave was on the counter??? Which was not its build in. Again call for it and they said the model # on the microwave is for the counter that's why they can't fix it. Call to cancel the warranty, no question ask. Only they told me, "Since you pay whole year you won't get money back!!!" It was my mistake instead of paying monthly I paid in full amount. I have more than one house under warranty. Can't wait until it's over.

I contacted Choice online to get information on their product. On July 25, 2016 instead of gaining any real information I got the hard sell routine from Vince who tried everything to get me to buy that very minute. I let Vince know that I had one other company to take a look at and would get back to him. Now it is July 28, 2016 and I have received 7 calls from Choice; after Vince was Micheal and then Paul. When Micheal called I advised him I would be getting back to Vince so they didn't need to call anymore, I would contact them. Micheal did not want to accept that but finally understood I was serious--but he called again at which time I asked to be taken off the calling list. Micheal's response was how could they get me to buy (are you kidding).
I thought I was finished with Choice after this last time, but today July 28, 2016, I received a call from Paul. Now I am really irritated and tried to explain to Paul my frustration with Choice. Needless to say he thought this was all very funny. When I asked for a supervisor, he hung up one me. I have attempted to call Choice back several times and asked for a supervisor - either they transfer me to a claims line which keeps you on hold forever. I finally got in touch with Tia and tried to explain my issue - she was polite and seemed to want to help. I asked Tia for a supervisor and she placed me on hold. Needless to say she also hung up.
If this is the kind of treatment one receives trying to purchase their product what treatment will you receive when you have need to use the warranty? In addition the people I previously named never worked there. This company may seem to have great reviews on one hand but how many people have had the experience I have and just went to another company. Please make sure you examine this company thoroughly. Their customer service is atrocious - the irritation is not worth it.

Choice Home Warranty has bad contractors. They do not interview and properly vet their contractors. When contractors do not perform, Choice Home Warranty does not follow up. Very, very poor service and certainly not worth the money. I've had 3 issues needing resolution, and 4 weeks after contractor first showed to diagnose, the problems have not been fixed. They are easily resolved and should take no more than 30 min each. The contractor performed a visual diagnosis, not a technical diagnosis, and never provided info to Choice Home Warranty, even after several requests initiated by me, and then by Choice Home Warranty.

Client Service and the Repair company were very good. My GE front loader has circuit board issue which they do not want to pay for so they are giving me a $300 buyout. That's not nearly enough for a new front loader. CHW does not give you the option so you may get far less than replacement value. Quote from the contract Limitations of Liability #16: "We reserve the right to offer cash back in lieu of repair or replacement in the amount of our actual cost (which at times may be less than retail) to repair or replace any covered system, component or appliance." Other companies give you the option of replacement or cash. Cheapest front loader I found is $475 + $75 for delivery and take away. I now have to pay $250 out of my pocket to get a new front loader.

Well I did and now they are saying the parts and labor are not covered so now I have to come up with $1,100.00 out of my own pocket with NO HELP from Choice Home Warranty.
