    Within a week of the claim, Choice Home Warranty contacted me to let me know that Sears would be handling my service. It was a few weeks before the technician arrived. He had our 8 year old machine purring in no time and then I had him clean out the dryer and tune it up while he was here. That was of course a separate charge but cheap and well worth it as he found the exhaust line had a kink in it which he fixed. The dryer works much better now. I am very happy with Choice Home Warranty. They were quick to make an appointment and very easy to deal with. I should have bought this coverage years ago.

    My four rental properties and my primary residence is covered by Choice Home Warranty. This company covers small repairs. When it comes to major repairs like replacement of microwave, water heaters, AC unit coil replacement, this company tries to avoid taking responsibility and tells me that it is not well taken care, so the coverage is denied. In one of my unit water heater stopped working, they denied claim due to dust on the water heater and near the burning unit. In another unit, I have plumbing leak under the kitchen sink. They denied the claim due to the fact that the plumber who did the work did not do it right way. After few calls and finally they agreed to pay half of it. Now I have AC unit issue where coil replacement is needed, they denied the claim because it has rust in it.

    I spoke to the tech who repaired it and did not mention about the rust. Choice Home asked me to hire a tech for a second opinion and I did. The second tech also did not mention about the rust, and I sent the diagnosis report. Even then they are not supportive and asked me to call the tech again for the pictures of the unit in and out. So the bottom line is this company will not approve big claims. I took Choice Home Warranty because, I paid three years worth of premium upfront so that I can have $45 deductible which is affordable every time I called for the service. Once the contract is over, I will run away from this company. I will NOT recommend this company to anyone, period.

    I had a HVAC guy come out and diagnose. There was a thermostat and a wire that need to be replaced. It was a 400.00 bill if my HVAC guys fixed it so I called Choice and they said it would only be 65.00. "Have our guys come out and look at it because we will only cover 160.00 of this estimate." I said, "Ok, send them out." The two boys they sent out didn't know what they were doing and fried my whole unit. At the time I didn't know they did that. They said they didn't have the parts on the truck.

    After they hooked wires together and said the unit seems to be working fine. It just need a thermostat. Then they put their volt meter on the unit and fried their voltmeter. I didn't think of anything at the time. But I told Choice, "Don't send them out again." So Choice sent out another company that looked at the unit and said the unit is fried. Now Choice is saying it is not their problem and that they don't stand behind who works on your equipment. I have proof in estimate and dates on invoices and pictures. They still will not cover it!!! I am very frustrated and disappointed!!!

    The salesman encouraged us to purchase a 3-year policy to the tune of $1200+, but after our first call to them about a month later regarding our microwave, we were told by the technician that it was arcing and probably wouldn't be covered by the policy. Sure enough, the issue was not covered and required us to buy a new microwave for $500. When I decided to complain, the Customer Service supervisor I spoke with said she would be willing to refund $400 against the cost of the new microwave to appease me and keep us from cancelling our policy. Of course, I was satisfied with this outcome until my next service call when we discovered our a/c was leaking water onto our patio.

    Once again, we discovered that a "clogged a/c drain" was not covered by the policy. After reading the fine print in the contract booklet, I found that a lot of issues for our household equipment/appliances were NOT covered. We elected to cancel the policy entirely. It took 1 month and 4 days to get the refund check for the microwave and as of today (3-Oct) we are still waiting for the remaining $700+ for the policy cancellation (it was cancelled on 18-Sep). Bottomline: I would NOT purchase another policy from this company, nor will I recommend them to family or friends.

    I purchased this warranty and have tried to make three claims. The pool pump they denied because the electrical was underground. I requested a refund and they refused. After only one month they offered my deposit minus 800 dollars (without any claim history). They also refused to cover the pool filter. The Technician they sent did not look at either the pump or filter and I was denied my claim. And today 10-02-2017 I attempted to make a claim to cover the garage door and they said it was remote related and they don't cover anything with the remote. Even with the purchase of new remotes it still will not work but they said they will not cover it. Worst choice I ever made to purchase this warranty.

    I had an A/C problem 4 months ago. Choice had a guy replace a part. A new problem arose that my regular service person found. The same part, which was inferior, had to be replaced again. I paid for it. 27 months ago I paid almost $2400 for a 5 year plan. Since then Choice has done a little over $600 worth of warranty work. When I asked for a prorated refund I was told I was entitled to only $43. The warranty is worthless if I have to pay to have the work fixed on my own. They obviously are great once they get your money. I can't wait to see what kind of service the next 3 years bring.

    I called to file a claim. I have never used a home warranty before so I didn't know what to expect.     Absolutely awful! My washer dryer took 3 months to fix and the leak would spill into my living room after each wash. My fridge still has not been fixed and it's been nearly 2 months. The 1st technician came out and didn't put in a diagnosis, so we had to wait 2 weeks to find out he didn't do anything or report to the warranty company for our issue to be resolved. A 2nd technician came out and misdiagnosed the problem about the fridge - so Choice Home Warranty wouldn't cover the fridge and denied out claim at the 1 month mark.

    We had to pay for an official Sub-Zero certified company to look at the fridge and they got the correct diagnosis quoting $2400 to fix it. When mentioned to Choice Warranty that the original misdiagnosis needs to be mitigated per sub zero specialist true diagnosis - warranty company demanded to send out a 2nd technician to confirm (meanwhile trying to charge us another visit fee for an original claim that was never resolved). Now warranty company will only pay $900 (maybe) to compensate for a $13k fridge.

    I am so frustrated with this company that I would write this review in hopes of someone actually caring to read it and realize that this company is a hazard to mankind and a reason to lose hope in life. No cold food, no way to store your products, and plan on throwing away all condiments, dairy, and fridge dependent products because this company drags their feet to correct and fix a fridge that they "claim" to cover. Still no working fridge to date as well as huge bills from eating out due to inability to store perishable items or saving ingredients for future meals. Instead of giving me a "whole extra free month of coverage," please fix my fridge and do what's right.

    I called Choice Home Warranty to have my air conditioning repaired. The service tech came and I was told that I had to pay the $125 for the leak check because the freon was low. Which I did. Three leaks were found. I specifically asked the service tech if there was anything that I could have done to prevent the leaks. He said no. That the unit is old and these things just happen. This is why I purchased the home warranty. Because things do wear out. But, of course, somehow according to Choice it is my fault and they will not cover it. That is not what I was told when I purchased the warranty. I feel that I have been scammed and hope and will do what I can to see if an agency will look into it so others will not lose their money.

    Refrigerator Repair: Order Submitted 9/20/17 Completed 9/26/17 - First company contacted by CHW was Flamingo Appliance (FA). When calling in to FA, always waited several minutes before being able to speak to a company rep. Calling CHW, always spoke with company rep within seconds. Told by FA that they had no record of my service request two different times for this order.     I clicked on an ad on asking if I would like information about home warranties, expecting information that I could read. Within seconds, I got a call from a salesperson from Choice Home Warranty. I explained that I live in a small town, and that service people are hard to find. He gave me a very hard sell, swearing up and down that Choice had contractors everywhere, even in small towns like the one I live in. I bought a premium contract, with everything covered.

    In June, my boiler went out. I called Choice, where they assured me that I would get a call from a service person within 48 hours. Three days later, still no call. I called them back, and they told me that they hadn't gotten anyone to take the call yet. We went back and forth for about a week. At this point, they told me that I could find my own technician and pay them out of my pocket, and that they would reimburse me for the repair. I explained to them that the whole reason for getting the warranty was because I don't just have a few hundred dollars laying around at any given time, and that this had been one of the selling points made by their blowhard salesman.

    I asked for a refund - this was my first claim, and I was getting nothing. They put me on the phone with a rep, who said that the issue with the service technicians in my area was that they did not wish to wait 30 days processing time to be paid, (which is the standard processing time for Choice). He said that he would get authorization for immediate payment, and call the service people again. I never heard back for about a month.

    In July or August, I got a follow-up call from Choice, asking if the problem had been resolved. I told the representative that it had not, and that I thought I should just get a refund. He said that he would resubmit the claim, and get a technician out. Again, no technician ever responded. I told the representative that I have pet reptiles, and that the boiler needed to be fixed before the nights got cold in September. Earlier in September, I got a call saying that they had found a technician to do the repair. When I was finally able to talk to the company to which they had referred me, they told me that they don't work with home warranty companies, including Choice.

    I called Choice, once again, and was offered the same scenario that they had offered me before: pay the repair out-of-pocket, and they would reimburse me. I explained that I needed a refund so that I CAN pay for the repair. Once again, I have been told that they would find a tech, and would get back to me. It is now almost October - almost four months since I first filed the claim. I have spent several freezing nights in the house. Although I have a couple of space heaters, they will only help so much.

    I am concerned about the very lives of my pets. I wish that they would just give me the refund, so that I can pay to get the boiler repaired before we all freeze to death. I have asked on several occasions, starting in June. I have seen great reviews for this company by other clients. Maybe it works just great in a decent-sized city, but for me, they have delivered nothing, and are actually preventing the repair by holding the very funds I would need to pay for the repair.

    This company is dishonest. They claim to repair or replace but getting them to do either is very difficult at best. Once my contract is over I won't renew and will do my best to discredit them on social media when I get the opportunity too. I paid extra for an unlimited plan with Choice Home Warranty (CHW) because I learned of a cap that most companies have to repair or replace equipment. I have higher end equipment and didn't want to get stuck with high repair bill because of their limit on their normal package. If they have to pay out to repair or replace a high-end appliance then they deny the claim. I had them remove the cap on my contract and I paid a higher annual contract to get that unlimited coverage package.

    I have an AC unit that keeps tripping my breaker and two of their techs have now told them the unit needs to be replaced because repairing the unit will be expensive and in their opinion not worth it and there is no guarantee the problem will be fixed. CHW first declined the claim due to rust and the tech never told them that rust caused the breakdown of the parts and problems. The problems stem from the unit being old. So they reassigned to another tech company.

    The second tech company told them the same thing with respect to the parts that needed replacing and that the problem will not be fixed. The tripping circuit breaker will continue even after replacing the compressor. They still only offered to repair the AC unit and only offered me 1600 to repair it. That only covers replacing the compressor and not the refrigerant which will cost another 1000.00 which will be outdated and not available in the next 18 months. They want me to pay for that.

    The tech quoted them a sweet deal to replace the unit but they are not willing to replace the unit. Instead, they only want to repair it by replacing the compressor. They want me to pay for the installation of the compressor because they claim replacing requires the installation of it and they don't cover that. This repair is replacing a part and no different than any other repair. It's not installing a new compressor. I really hate the way this company is deceptive and tries to deny any claim possible when it comes to a high replacement cost. Two of their own techs have told them the same thing about recommending replacement and not repair but they are not agreeing with them. CHW pays these techs to be their eyes and ears but then they don't listen to the assessment by their own techs.

    Don't ever use this company because you will regret it. They try to avoid covering any possible claim they can. I will continue to get the word out on social media as much as possible to stay away from Choice Home Warranty. I have read many reviews on independent review sites and they are bad. Now their word is getting around with the contractors. They are not paying their contractors so contractors beware. There was a class action suit against them in 2013 and they settled it before going to court. I am drafting a letter to the state attorney general and I hope to get some results that way. Stay away from this company.

    Any service I have called CHW has been non-covered. I paid not only their monthly fee but the service call charge and ended up paying the service person after being turned down. Come on a toilet that runs continuously! A faucet that won't shut off. Basic repairs not even covered. When I threatened to discontinue my (non) coverage they offered to send me $200. Not real smart. Would have been better customer service to just pay for the repairs - instead I'm left with another repair not covered! Hating home warranties! Just taking the money.

    All I knew was there was a steady drip of water from the ceiling in my laundry room. Choice promptly sent out a plumber who immediately knew it was not a plumbing issue.     I was surprised at the call back speed after hearing in a message it could be a while till someone got to me. The whole process took half a day even with the plumber being tied up and many miles away. He got here when he could and explained to me as he went along with finding the stoppage. Going step by step in the process to free up the stoppage till the drain flowed freely. He explained the issue for now was resolved for the time being but it wasn't over. The main problem was escalated by the fact a patchwork had been used and the issue would come back. We must now talk with our insurance company to see how to proceed.

    Called in for my first time one week ago for my A/C. It is still out, and today Choice told me that I didn't adhere to the manufacturers maintenance without even asking me. Who are they to tell me that. I purchased my home one year ago, had my AC serviced twice, I have a maintenance plan with an AC company, that Choice didn't let me use for repairs. Their website has testimonies of people who had their AC's fixed without any problems despite the age. I have one leak outside and two inside, which Choice did not cover the leak check fee. It is hot in AZ and I would not recommend Choice Home Warranty.

    On Saturday, September 16, I called in a claim because my clothes dryer was not heating. Mr. ** from Davis Appliance Company arrived Tuesday morning, September 19, and said the problem was either a blown fuse, or the heating element was broken. After he determined that the fuse was fine, he express ordered a new heating element, and said he should be back Thursday, September 21, to finish the repair. He did just that. He came back Thursday and installed the new heating element. My dryer is working great now. Mr. ** was pleasant and courteous.     STAY AWAY from Choice Home Warranty at any cost. They are just SCAMMERS. My water heater leaked and they did not cover anything saying they only replace parts and not the whole water heater itself. Same time the technician checked the furnace and found a crack in the heat exchanger and they said they will not cover replacement. If there is a bathroom leak, they will cover 50 dollar worth of stuff and nothing else. If ANYTHING needs replaced they WILL NOT cover it. So what's the point in having their policy?

    On 09/13/2017, I, the homeowner, called CHW (Choice Home Warranty) on 09/13/2017, and placed a claim and call in for a service call to have someone come out to assess why we had no air flow coming from our central air conditioning system. Bearing in mind, I have a home warranty plan with CHW, and have been a Consumer since the purchase of my home in July 2012. Fast-forwarding. BBB sent a company by the name of Bee Bee. We paid them a service call fee of $45. Bee Bee stated we would have to pay $195 for a leak inspection test to determine why there is no cold air flow or the cause of no air flow. Bee Bee does not bear a good look for CHW, as one of the Staff, even before coming in to assess the issue, had to take a smoke by his van out front before coming inside. My husband didn't feel comfortable with them, at all, and their appearance was not Professional.

    Bee Bee advised my husband that he don't make money off of $45 service calls, and continued on with a conversation about how he can't stay in business with just $45 service calls. We recalled, a year ago, having called CHW about the same issue; no cold air flow. We reverted back to who CHW sent during that time. Thankfully, we keep records of things of such. We called Elmostafa **, HQS. We asked him if he would be available to come take a look at our air conditioning system. Mr. ** was very nice and came later that evening when he was done with other clients. Mr. ** took pictures, as CHW instructs, and sent the information in to CHW. CHW immediately declined our claim. Reason - rust related leak - failure due to rust. Our argument - With someone coming out last year (2016), why wasn't this matter caught during that time? Instead, Freon was provided in 2016.

    I feel as though due diligence wasn't given to our concerns in 2016, that caused the rust related issues this year, that has allowed CHW to be able to deny our claim. This is their behind the scenes business practice to deny claims. Desired Settlement: Repair. We are simply asking for CHW to finish the job and repair our air conditioning system, as specified it needs repairing by Elmostafa **, under the home warranty plan, we have been paying into since 2012.

    I recently signed up for CHW and my refrigerator started making a loud grinding noise about 2 am on a Saturday night. I called CHW on Sunday to report a claim. They were very quick with appointing a repair service company and he came out on Monday. I paid $60.00 for my service call and still have no refrigerator. To my surprise the first claim I had was denied. The tech told me what the problem was and reported it to CHW and they came back with the refrigerator had been not working during the time I signed up for the warranty. REALLY, this is my refrigerator in my kitchen and why would I wait to have it repaired? There was still ice in the ice maker tray that was melting.

    I was told the repair would be $150.00 so they would rather lose customers than pay $150.00 for the repair. I had to put my food in my garage fridge and took my freezer food to my neighbors. This has been a nightmare and I still don't have a refrigerator. The tech told me that most of the calls he goes to the claim is denied. Most of the reviews on the BBB in Columbus, Ohio say that their claim was denied or they were promised a check that they never received. That is their MO - deny, deny, deny. I will not renew with them or refer anyone I know to them. They are crooks in my book.

    I have purchased this warranty after going by the ratings on Google and I should have realized this when the agent pushed me so hard to buy 5 year contract and then pushing me for 3 year etc., Anyways after 2.5 months with the company my AC compressor is gone and they have sent Morgan Air as technician to evaluate. Once he confirms that compressor is gone and need to be replaced Choice Home Warranty declined the claim saying that the compressor was not maintained properly (God knows what their definition of maintenance).

    I clearly stated them that I do pay 60$ annually for taking care of the unit which they honored while writing the policy but wants a proof on the paper when it comes to claim. Unfortunately I could not locate that paper to send them and that is what they used to claim it is not maintained properly. Hence it won't be covered so the claim is denied. After speaking to their manager and explained all of this they said they can give me $150 as a good gesture. Not sure how they come up with that number but what we can see is they tried to evade the cost of maybe $1000 for the compressor with giving me the $150 which is completely unethical on their part.

    Please stay away from this company as they will find every excuse when it comes to replace the part on some pretext and anyway everytime you call for some minor repairs they are charging $60 for which we can find local technicians. So, all in all this company is just making money by attracting the customers on the name of warranty. When I requested to cancel they have even imposed me $50 cancellation fee which is ridiculous and illegitimate. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!!

    On 09/18/2017, requested Closure of my My Contract #** that was started on 3/3/2017. I had paid $375, for the contract period of 3/3/17 to 5/3/17, at the start itself. Call was made at 1.04PM to Ms. **, who claimed to be the Manager too. There still remains an unutilized period of 6 Months & 15 days. Said would be refunding me $33/- out of the $375 paid by me for the 14 months period, after deduction of $50/= as cancellation fee and escalated (???) monthly pro-rate for the Premium.

    Taking out 93% of my paid Premium for usage of just 6.5 months out of the total 14 months, most certainly appears Usurious, and in a way, a practice at blackmailing the customer from leaving. Why try to Force any customer from Leaving by twisting his/her arm? Instead, why not offer better services & terms?

    The good lady was not inclined to listen to logic or reasoning too. Hope other unwary customers of Choice Home Warranty have better luck with this wonderful company.

    This is the 2nd home warranty company I have had. And Choice made it clear to me to never ever buy another home warranty from them or any other. They took my money for 3 years worth because they made it seem like they were the best. Well I was definitely fooled and lied to. 3 different claims and 3 declines, huh go figure. I paid over $1200 and didn't get covered for any claim I submitted. Pool pump, dishwasher, and air conditioner. Some of the techs they use I think are in bed with them. TRUST ME KEEP YOUR MONEY, I told 3 family members and 1 friend that dropped them within days, they had the same experience. I honestly believe they remove all their negative reviews, and I believe all the positive reviews are employees being paid. Good luck to whoever gets into this or any home warranty company, they are all thieves. I learned the hard way.

    Our AC went out, called Choice and they immediately got a repair ticket out to a repair company and followed up by email and phone to make sure all was working well. The repair only lasted two days, not Choice's issues, however they immediately opened a new case, waived the service fee and worked to make sure we had our ac back.     Overall, I have been very happy with my coverage by Choice. When I create a work order, I am taken well care of and typically I receive a call from a service provider within a timely time frame. I have had good friends of mine that I referred not be so happy. They had an issue with their A/C where their Freon leaked at a joint that had to be soldered back and then filled with Freon with a charge of $800. Choice only paid a portion of that and said that they did not maintain that unit properly. How do you maintain a soldered coil? Are we supposed to take the unit apart and check the coil? I am very disappointed in this as I put my reputation on the line for my friends and they want to now cancel their agreement with Choice.

    I would assume you do not want to lose a customer... As it would be more than one as they have referred some friends as well. FOCUS - For Our Customer Ultimate Satisfaction. That is the motto for the company I work for and I would hope Choice has something like that as well. Choice could lose more than the $400-$500 that they choose not to pay for. Do the right thing.

    I entered my information to inquire about a quote as I am shopping around for home warranty. Well this morning I received a phone call by a sales/customer service representative named Tim. He was nice at first but then forcefully tried to get me to sign up, then got aggressive with me because I would not sign up. He then yelled at me and told me "continue to shop" and hung up on me. If you wish to win my business or anyone else's business this is not a way to treat a future new customer, especially if you wish to remain this 5 star rating.
