    I just signed up for the home warranty contract today. I checked a few other places and found Choice Home Warranty has a 9.9 rating in the Better Business Bureau. When I googled them, they came up first with the best rating. I got a good price and I'm locked in after my contract expires meaning they can't raise the rates on me. It is having peace of mind knowing they have you covered just in case something happens.

    I signed up with Choice Home Warranty to cover my household appliances. The first time I called them was for my hot water tank that I noticed was leaking. They made an appointment for the next day between 11am & 3pm. No one called or showed up. 2 days later I received a call from the company that was suppose to show up and made another appointment. Paid the $45 was told the unit needed to be replaced. 2 days later I get a call from the plumbing company telling me that Choice denied my claim and they would do the job for $2000! WTF do I need this insurance for? I could have just called in a plumber on my own. I already knew the 30 gallon unit had to be replaced. I'm canceling my contract! They also said they don't cover a faucet replacement (I already have the new faucet)!

    When a man called me at night (around 10:00 p.m.), I said it was inconvenient for my wife and myself as she typically falls asleep around 9:30 p.m. However, the person insisted that the time did not matter. It mattered to us! This behavior of the man was unusual and annoying. However, the lady who managed my need the next day was calm and kind. She finally enrolled us in the program.

    Choice Home Warranty, in my opinion, has this as their business model: 1.) If an item has a history of problems with multiple homeowners - exclude item from warranty. 2.) If item breaks and it is not excluded - instruct your support staff and maintenance contractors to label the failed item as "item was not maintained - therefore is excluded from the warranty." I've used (tried to use) Choice for 4-5 problems (Furnace, AC, Plumbing). Four items were excluded (not covered or not maintained). The item they "fixed" was simple fix.

    I tried to contact Choice Warranty by phone to make my claim but the wait was 40 minutes so I went online as suggested. This was a Wed afternoon and early the next day I received one email saying they received my claim and another saying they were working diligently to assign a technician but I had the option to find my own and get reimbursed. A few hours later via email that Thursday I received an appointment for service for Monday (4 days away) and then another email saying it would be tomorrow - Friday. Yeah! Despite the fact that I did not get to talk to a person (my preference) I was very pleased with the email correspondence. A positive experience overall.

    I called Choice Home Warranty and received a quote for a home warranty. I asked a lot of questions about coverage and was given the "Yes ma'am" on all questions. I gave them a major credit card to purchase the home warranty as well as a billing address. Then the policy never came. I called the company and was told that a wrong address was in the computer and was allegedly updated. I called a second time only to be told the same story and update the information, and I was assured the policy would be sent to me. Then 7-9 months after purchasing the warranty, my furnace went down, and a repairman was called and coverage was denied. Bottom line this company does not do what they stated on the phone at all, and seem to have an excuse at every turn.

    Worst experience ever, call Choice Home Warranty back in January 13, 2018 to open a claim for a problem with my heater. They send me an A/C technician from Monroe Servicing Co. and the technician said it was not an A/C problem that it was an electrical problem then Choice Home Warranty send me an electrician from Access Control and Automatic Doors and accordingly to the tech we need to change some wires and that was not cover by Choice Home Warranty so we went ahead and took care of it and pay the electrician $330.00.

    Everything was suppose to be working properly until my big surprise that I get my bill from FPL for a total of $1,740.00. CAN YOU IMAGINE!!! I had to call someone on my own to look at my A/C to see what’s going and that person told me that my problem has been since day one when the A/C tech came by. He never troubleshoot the A/C properly so I called once again Choice Home Warranty to let them know everything that has been going on since January and 13, 2018 till March 26, 2018 and I’ve been talking and calling to them since March 26, 2018 and all they do is transfer me to a Supervisor, to the next one or just people from a call center that they don’t even care and just yesterday they send me another technician that said that Heating Element Shorted need to be replaced.

    Bottom line now Choice Home Warranty is telling me they don’t cover that and NOBODY, NOBODY wants to be responsible for a problem that someone else created. Not me or my family so we end up paying $330.00 dollars to an electrician for an unnecessary job, a $1,740.00 from FPL, no repairs to my A/C and no air conditioner working because the company that just came yesterday to take a look at my A/C they don’t even want to talk to my husband. They hang up the phone on him.

    So people please STAY AWAY from Choice Home Warranty. They will do anything and everything for not to help you or cover repairs. PLEASE be very careful with this Company. I should NEVER EVER had change companies. My previous one was an excellent company. SERIOUSLY and I cannot said it LOUDER AND CLEAR than this. STAY AWAY from CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. All the companies they use and tech are lousy and when you’re in a $2,000.00 dollar mess and no A/C like I'm right now. NOBODY wants to be responsible. PLEASE be careful! And if anyone wants to contact me feel free to do it and I will provide all the receipts all electricity bills and else.

    If I could give this company negative ZERO, I would! I have been dealing with having my stainless steel double oven control panel fixed for over a week and a half. Three vendors later, still no fix. First I was told the first vendor didn’t send in the claim diagnosis in time which was a lie. Then I was told the second vendor sent in the diagnosis but refused to do the work, yet again another lie. The second vendor submitted the claim with the dollar amount that it would take to purchase the part that is needed Along with their labor cost and choice warranty doesn’t want to pay that amount therefore they assigned a third vendor. The third vendor's diagnosis was the same as the two prior. The control panel is bad and needs to be replaced.

    Contacted customer service and spoke with a supervisor which was no help at all and may I add also very rude. Asked to speak with a manager and my God this woman had the personality of a snail. She could care less about what I was saying or the fact that I have not been able to use my oven for a week and a half. She put me on hold to review my account and came back with “I can offer you $599 for your double oven”. Lady you can take that $599 and shove it where the sun don’t shine. We are talking about a $3000 to $4000 stainless steel double oven that needs a replacement part that would cost choice warranty $1400 and she wants to offer me $599.

    I would say to anyone that is thinking of purchasing this home warranty… DON’T DO IT! This company is a SCAM! They don’t want to pay for anything. They make you feel like you are the one with the issue because you want what you paid for. Needless to say a week a half has gone by and my double oven is still NOT fixed. This is just wonderful with Easter right around the corner. I am seriously considering hiring an attorney. THIS WARRANTY COMPANY SUCKS!!!??? We are Beyond Pissed!

    Overall I think your company is decent. I think the service companies should not charge the $45 service fee if they are hired by me to fix things that aren't covered by your company. Also, I've been experiencing some of techs moving the appointments to other days or not arriving at the scheduled time (very unprofessional). I also think a lot of other stuff should be covered. For example, my dishwasher died and your company paid for partial replacement ($259) instead of the full amount that I had to pay. Who can buy a dishwasher for that price $259? No one can... Just my thoughts... I already spent $6,000 on your company and I am thinking of dropping some of the policies... It doesn't make financial sense...

    My front light which has a timer switch stopped working. The technician they sent had horrible BO and reeked of smoke. He also could not differentiate between a light switch and an outlet. Choice does not cover electrical systems. Only switches - which they do not replace with like, but only with builder's grade. They do not cover wire tracing which would tell them where the issue with the electrical issue is.

    Every year we have had our furnace and AC unit maintenance per the warranty recommendations. During a maintenance service due to the family feeling sick our licensed contractor found that carbon monoxide was escaping into our home due to several cracks in our heat exchanger. The furnace was immediately condemned and we had no choice due to the cold to purchase a new furnace. Our children and us had suffered major headaches, nausea and shortness of breath. The following day a new furnace and AC unit were installed due to EPA regulations stating that the entire system must be replaced. We contacted Choice Home Warranty and explained what was found. Due to this being an emergency our warranty should cover the parts/service.

    Our licensed installer submitted an entire explanation regarding the danger and what was found. Choice requested pictures. These pictures were sent also. Choice explained today that our system was maintenance correctly, yet because there was rust found on the bottom of the unit, it was denied. The system was over 20 years old! Of course there would be some sort of rust on our system! This is why we paid for a warranty so that when the system failed at some point, it would be covered. We are now out over $3400 on exclusions that should not apply to this situation. Our children could have never woke up one morning due to the carbon monoxide! This is unacceptable! Consumers such as us, pay companies such as Choice Home Warranty to help in situations such as this. We followed our warranty and did what we should as homeowners. We feel that they were trying every avenue they could to not pay for this claim. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!

    Your company covers very limited parts on anything that we’ve had a claim on. We purchased a house and the refrigerator had a bad compressor and a bad fan. Of course you don’t cover the expensive part. The solace of having insurance is that you're protected if something goes wrong. With this insurance, it’s a mystery as to what is covered. Certainly not what we thought we were getting. We’ve claimed our garage door (spring was broken) not covered, and our pool pump (only covered up to $500. I would not purchase this again from Choice, nor would I recommend it to anyone. The reason for a 2 star rating, y’all have been courteous and timely in getting someone out here to look at our claims.

    Am sending this letter to show the company guy who was sent to my home had no clue what the names for the components he was looking at. I called the number sent by email to see how long was my wait and when I did I got his lady friend whom answered and said he will call back later. I thought I was contacting a business not a personal cellphone, she was like hello. No business title was said when she answered and his personal truck had no company name. I had to ask for his business card before I let him inside.

    I took another look online after my visit and discovered, I got someone with the lowest score for service and read the comment from another. I believe he knew my job could be big and only want to take the easy assignments. He did not knew what to do because he was clueless to say what was wrong. Instead he told me he "I GUESS this might be the problem but wasn't sure". I have attached other reviews about this service. I guess the job was too BIG FOR HIM. So am having to get a second opinion to recheck over him, so he got paid $45.00 for not knowing nothing and GUESSING. I had to tell him the part he was calling that little box was called a Transformer.

    To save this company from customer's complaints and headaches please read the review and check their stars for service. It was like I was getting the neighbor next door who is passing on a fake Id for stealing and impersonating someone else's career, not his own because he was guessing the job task. Don't let them send you Bryson HEATING and AIR. I got my second opinion and Choice Warranty gave me another company and come to find out they won't do any jobs for them because the service guy said that company want pay nor try helping with cost.

    Choice Home Warranty did not want to cancel my service. They kept trying to pitch another plan to keep me with them. I cancelled my plan because THEY ARE A JOKE, THEY SHOULD BE LISTED AS A SHAM. They send contractors who work from home or no one calls because they rate the lowest. People please read the reviews, they try paying people to write good reviews or use their staff possible. They are a SHAM!

    I have just agreed to a long-term home warranty contract with the company. I had just started looking at the company's home page when they called with a canned sales pitch. I was interested but wanted time to check out the company, etc., but the salesperson wanted quicker resolution. In a subsequent later call and equally pushy salesperson, I was able to further negotiate the terms. I found the claims of "being the highest rated such company" inconsistent with my own search for information about such companies, though the company was listed on sites of such companies.

    I was also somewhat astounded with the information they already had about me, i.e., address, telephone number, email address, etc. (There is no privacy of personal information, anymore!) Until I actually get the contract (two weeks?). I am still uncertain of exactly what is covered and some of the minor elements of the arrangement so am going forward in faith that all that was promised is factual. I think that the rates that were eventually given are competitive and I look forward to a happy relationship with the company over the next few years.

    Every time I call in and they send someone out I'm always told it is not covered. Once again they are not helping with the leaks in my plumbing system. I understand sewer breaks aren't covered but the actual leak I've reported to them they are once again denying. Same with the A/C unit having a leak and losing Freon and I have to pay for the $600 to put Freon back in and then told I need a new unit which they don't help cover.

    We do the maintenance on our equipment and then told that proper maintenance wasn't done and deny my claim. We take good care of our stuff but never good enough to them to pay a claim. Same when my dryer went out. They would not cover fixing and was told that if I buy a new one they would give me $100.00 which that's what I ended up doing. I switched to this company and it has been a nightmare with them ever since. Now I see why they have a C Rating and that's too good for this company. Their own service contractors they send to my house tell me they deny almost every claim so not a good standing with them either.

    Choice Home Warranty contacted Roman Tech Services out of Columbus, Oh. The tech from Roman came and looked at our stove/oven, and found that the control panel needed replaced. The tech got the order approved, and returned the next day to install the new part. The oven works great. Choice Home Warranty did a great job.     AC unit broke. Called to place a claim. Showed records of maintenance and Choice stated, "Well it must not have been maintained well enough". When the tech that checked our system was on the phone with a Choice representative they repeatedly were trying to get him to say it was due to poor maintenance which he stated, "No that is not what I saw."     I woke up this morning to no heat. House freezing so I call Choice Home Warranty and open a claim at 8 am this morning. Was told they would get right on it. At noon no response so I called back. Was told that they required 24-48 hrs to find a repair company. I asked for a supervisor. They said they would escalate it. Got email that they were sending someone between 3 to 8 pm. At 6 I call company who informs me that they do not work on fuel oil furnaces. That they told warranty company hours ago. I call back to choice home warranty and was told they were working on it. It’s 8 pm here no call. It’s going down to 30s tonight. So this company is a joke. Don’t waste your money!!!

    Overall it worked out but the experience was discouraging. Called to place a claim on 3/19/18. Told could use our own repair company but must follow certain guidelines. Called our company and they came out to analyze problem on 3/23/18. I had repairman call your authorization dept, gave them all details of repair and said he was repairing it right away since he had the same pool motor on truck. Said everything was okay, go ahead and fix it.

    Called back today, 3/26/18 and was told needed more information from repairman. Had pool company call your authorization dept and they said that everything was in order. If I had not called to follow up on claim I wonder if you would have contacted me since according to you guys the repairman did not call you back. The whole experience made it sound like as long as the customer uses your companies there is no problem only if the customer uses their own that it presents an issue. In the long run it finally worked out but it was like pulling teeth. Don't cause the customer so much grief if they want to use their own people. They pay for your plan and if they are willing to pay for the extra service call that their company charges don't make it so difficult to file a claim for reimbursement. Thank You.

    When I contacted Choice Home Warranty the salesperson lied to me and told me that Choice Home Warranty covers exactly what American Home Shield Warranty covers. I had an air conditioning problem and they sent out a company called Air Zone. The repairman from Air Zone without even looking at my system exclaimed that I probably have a leak and it will cost $175.00 to look for the leak and then they would have to check with Choice Home Warranty company to find out if the leak would be covered. He also exclaimed that Choice Home Warranty very rarely covers leaks. I left American Home Shield because Choice Home Warranty was less expensive and because their salesperson lied. There is a reason Choice Home Warranty is less expensive and it is because they do not cover nearly any of the things that American Home Shield does. Do yourself a favor and do not use Choice Home Warranty.

    I had a 3 year policy for 2 income properties. They spend more time and money trying to get out of their obligation than if they would just replace or fix the problem. They also lie. Some operators have been courteous but most are rude. I had a range that parts were no longer available for. They wanted to give me a small amount for what they think the parts would cost! After much arguing and wasted time they agreed to give a couple hundred dollars but it was up to me to shop for and buy a new stove!

    Needless to say the range was considerably more than what they paid. They also refused to replace a furnace, hot water tank & more. The hot water tank was leaking but they said the tank is only a container and just the parts were covered. In fairness, they did cover some items but it was only after many calls, long waits and overall frustration. What they put you through is almost not worth it even if they replace an appliance. Funny how difficult it is to talk to any of them but when renewal time came they called and emailed countless times.

    I spoke with numerous salespeople. I would fire most of them if they worked for me. I got many different “deals” from all of them. Some were relentless while others gave up so easily. It was pathetic. One wouldn’t honor another’s deal. One almost wore me down until he lied and backed out of what he promised. I could go on & on but this is lengthy enough. I can honestly say that in more than 45 years in business this is among the worst companies I ever dealt with! I realize every review has those who love & hate the company or product and everything in between. I wrote an honest assessment but if you still sign with Choice Home Warranty, remember you were warned! Did I mention they lie?

    I call to get a service person out to repair my washer and dryer. The repairman was sent out. He was on time and professional. Although, he lied to me about my dryer not being on the invoice for repair. Once he found out what was wrong he explained to me that he had to get approval. He gave me a copy of the work order. At the top was washer and dryer repair. My first claim for repair of my washer was denied. I called C.H.W. to find out why. I spoke with this rude woman that told me that "I didn't have a choice, but to accept a buyout or nothing" which is not enough to purchase another washer. I did some investigation.     My heat system stopped working in January (Tuesday) 2 2018. I called the home warranty company the same day. I received an email the next day (Wednesday) saying that a technician is scheduled to come for a diagnostic on Thursday. No technician came and I called the technician company with the number that was provided by email. The technician told me that I was on its schedule for Monday 8th. They came on Monday, did the diagnostic and explained what went wrong with my heat system.

    On Tuesday, Choice Home Warranty called me to schedule an appointment with me with a different company and I asked them why since a company has already did the diagnostic, they told me because the company that came yesterday never came back to them and then they decided to go with a different company. The second company came and right after they left, Choice called me to let me know that my claims for denied because of a lack of maintenance. I called the second company to give me the report of the diagnostic they said they don't have any report, they write down everything at the company website. I called the first company they sent to my house and ask them why they didn't send the report to Choice. They told me they did send it and Choice didn't like their diagnostic and decided to go with a different company and I requested this company's report which they give me.

    Based on this company report and according to Choice cover plan, my repair should be covered. The reason they sent the 2nd company out is because they needed a company to cover their lie. Choice Home Warranty is a sham, bogus company. They just want to collect customers' money without paying for any service. This is not the first time my claim wasn't covered by Choice. They always come up with a story. This time I am not going to let this go. I am planning on suing them.

    I called a representative and put in my claim. Very quickly, I received email letting me know when the service technician would be at my house to look at my dryer. The email said to expect him between 11:00 am and 3:00pm. When he had not showed by 3:00, I called Choice Home Warranty. The rep called the maintenance company and was told that the tech was running late. When I complained about having to take an entire day off waiting for the repairman to show and never getting a call about running late, the representative came across as very condescending and kept saying "of course it's inconvenient, you have an appliance that's not working". She didn't find out when we could expect the tech and suggested I call the company myself.

    I called and was told that the tech was running late, but should be at my house in about an hour. At 4:49pm I received a text from the maintenance company that stated my appointment had been changed and the tech was now scheduled to be at my house between 5:00 and 8:00pm. The tech showed up at 5:45. He was in my house for about 20 minutes. He came in with a tablet and his phone - no tools. He took a picture of my dryer. He answered a phone call and was on the phone for over 10 minutes. He then started my dryer, opened the door, and stuck his hand inside the dryer. He did this twice. Stated that if the warranty company would cover the cost, he would order the part and gave me a date of when he expected the part to be in next week.

    However, when I asked him what was wrong with my dryer, he would not answer. Just commented again that the part would be in next week. Asked for his check and said that he would email the receipt to me. It's been 16 hours and I have not received the email yet. I did receive notice from my bank that he cashed the check immediately after leaving my house. I still do not know what is wrong with my dryer. Just as importantly, I don't know how the technician can know what is wrong with my dryer just by starting the dryer and then sticking his hand inside. I had already told him that there was no heat. I have zero confidence that my dryer will be fixed next week by this technician.

However, the service technician they sent says that Choice only allows $388 but the cost is $568, so I will I’ve almost $200 for a repair that should be paid in full. We have sent proof To CHW that we had the unit properly maintained since purchase and proof was sent showing the unit had been properly maintained as it was in very good condition considering the age and the location (the beach). We have been given the runaround and told to continue with arbitration. They know arbitration cost the customer cash out of pocket to pursue. Then if you even win, you only get a very limited amount vs the cost of replacement of a heating/cooling unit.

    The BBB has been contacted and are very familiar with CHW. The company has "wrote" replies to most circumstances. We were actually told by a CHW rep that the BBB had no power. We also contacted the New Jersey Attorney General Consumer Division. They hundreds of cases against this company. As a matter of fact this very site is bogus. It will not post negative responses. BEWARE.

    My hot water heater had a burst of water from the faucet and started leaking. It would not stop so I called Choice Home Warranty. They sent a plumber out who tried to fix the faucet but could not. He checked for causes and determined that it was just old. It was 11 years old. He said usually when they go out the faucet can't be replaced so the Hot Water Heater needs to be replaced. He requested approval from Choice Home Warranty and they requested that he send an evaluation of the problem so they could determine if it was covered. He came back the 2 days later and said they had denied the claim. I called them and reviewed the policy with them, since it specifically says that Hot Water Heaters are definitely covered. They said it had rust and that voids the claim.

    I asked why they thought there was rust. They said they just assumed that was the cause. I assured them there is no rust and offered to send them pictures which I did immediately and also asked the plumber if he had seen any rust and he said no! He said they will often make up things to get out of paying a claim. I paid $440 for the policy based upon their promise to protect my home appliances listed on the policy and they think they can stay in business while cheating people. How many more people have to come forward and complain before they are brought to justice for fraud?

    Choice Home Warranty has been very disappointing. Our dishwasher took almost 5 weeks to get fixed and they don’t match color on parts for appliances. They wanted to put a black panel on our white dishwasher. Luckily they had a white panel in stock and did put the white one on. Now our pool heater is broken which we paid extra coverage for, and they won’t fix the display or any part of the system associated with the heat pump. Do not use this company! The only thing that was offered to me was a free service charge for our next call.

    Our CSR Mike very helpful. Took care of me in 2017 and again in 2018. So impressed with the services I bought two instead of one plan this year. One for the condo and now our house. My only complaint is I gave Mike my new card number for the payments and specifically confirmed not to use my prior card on file from my first purchase in 2017. Later that day half was charged on the old card=overcharges in my bank account because I was t expecting half of the payment to come out on the old card but the one provided with the renewal sale.     I submitted a claim online this morning when I woke up and realized that our furnace had stopped working. After waiting several hours l, I still had not heard from Choice Home Warranty so I called them. They said that they had not found a technician willing to accept my work order. I live just outside of Indianapolis which is a very populated area and plenty of HVAC repair services. If Choice is unable to find a service provider near me, their network is inadequate and service providers are likely unwilling to do business with them. When I had coverage with HSA, I received immediate scheduling every time I had a problem. Despite it being below freezing, Choice still has not called me or found a provider to come to our home. I write this review at almost midnight while sitting in my 1 year old son's 52 degree bedroom with a space heater hoping that he will get some sleep tonight. Think about that when making a decision whether or not to work with them.

    I place a claim for my HVAC. It was not heating. They sent a tech to my house and he went outside and check Freon level and said it was low. I must have a leak. He has to report this to Choice Home before he can continue. They do not pay for locating leaks. I ask, “Did you open my unit up.” He said, “No.” He charge me $45 to just put his gauge on and tell my Freon was low. I knew that before he came. A HVAC not heating can be only 3 things. Evaporator Coil or Compressor is leaking or capacitor is bad. He state it will be $60 to isolate leak on top of the $45 dollar service called. I said that is part of the diagnostic. How you do not look for leaks when most HVAC system issue is leaks. I have own several home warranty system and I have never seen one that troubleshoot like this. The 1st call has always been for isolating. So tell you if issue is covered or not. Not Choice Home. They nickel and dime you. Please do not buy. You been warn.

    Called on a Sunday afternoon when we went outside to water pouring out of our garage. Our hot water tank was leaking all over our garage so we were forced to turn the water off. We called and got a call back a few minutes later from a recording telling us a company would be out Wednesday afternoon. I immediately called the company who said they were no longer in business.     I bought the Choice Home Warranty plan with 5-year schedule, 2495.00. Just bought a new to me home and decided needed a home warranty. After 5 months HVAC went bad. Asked guy when I got warranty, "Would age make a difference." He said no. Will got HVAC person to come see and check it out. Started warranty processes. It started on Friday. Guy said old unit not keeping up with holding freon. Old Singer unit. CHW said, "Try to get some help after diagnosis." It had rust on coils or something. CHW said, "That's not covered. Should have taken care of your unit." My wife tried talking to multiple people, because I couldn't. By Wednesday being hot for a weekend and longer took matters in our own hands. Got ac replaced and canceled CHW. If you buy a new house get the warranty. Might not really need it. Old house you're better off getting fixed yourself. Yes we spent 4500.00 but got a more efficient unit too.

    I went online to investigate the possibility of purchasing a home warranty program. Choice was one of the companies that I submitted my contact information to in order to secure a quote. I was somewhat surprised to almost immediately receive a phone call from a representative. We discussed the program for a while and I told him I had not finished doing my homework yet. He then offered me a number that I could call back on when I was ready or had any more questions. I then read their "terms & conditions" agreement in detail to see exactly what they did or did not do. I also went to another highly recommended company and read through their information.

    No live person contacted me but I got a quote and a discount offer through an automated chat person. I called them to ask some questions and did not like the answers on a couple of key issues. I then returned a call to my Choice representative and asked him some additional questions which were answered much more favorably. I signed up for a 6 year agreement at what I believe is a good price even though all of my appliances are only 1 year old. I expect the service will be as agreeable as the purchase experience.

    A salesman called me and went thru the whole sale pitch and I bought the package. I was told he would be sending me an email with details. After I hung up, several hours later I hadn’t receive the paperwork so I called the number that the gentleman called me from. The person that answered the phone started going through the whole sales pitch again. I explained I had already heard that and bought the package that all I needed was to get my email with the details on it.     I liked getting a time notification. I didn’t have a lot of time to get from where I was to home to meet him but that is more on me and not on you. When he showed up he thought I had two refrigerators needing service - I only had one. I was also told that my first call was free but he said I owed $45. I paid him with a credit card. My parts had to be ordered so I won’t have a fridge to use for a week. He was professional. Not real chatty but to the point which is fine. He pointed out part of my fridge that I can clean in the future which I appreciated.

    Gear busted in garage door motor that was initially installed by Overhead Door so I called them to come check out the unit. Technician immediately found the motor gear busted that was installed in 1995 and parts were no longer available so it had to be replaced. The rail coming off the motor would not work on the replacement model therefore it had to be replaced as well. Called Choice Home Warranty to see if this was covered under the $2000+ plan I purchased some time back and the agent told me it was indeed covered but I would need to have the technician on site talk with their rep. and explain the problem so they could give me authorization to continue with the job. Choice Home Warranty rep. put the technician on hold and eventually the line was disconnected.

    When I called back I got another rep. that immediately informed me that since I didn't call and give them a chance to send a technician of their choice the max they would pay is $320. My total bill was $475 for parts plus $210 labor totaling $685. Had to use Choice Home Warranty in the past and overtime with the exception of once I had to find my own contractor to fix the problem I was having and seek reimbursement because I live in a rural area where contractors are a minimum. Just another way Choice Home Warranty dodges a payoff when more than likely they would have called the same contractor. Had nothing but problems with this company since I took out this long term policy. On expiration of this policy I will definitely go with a reputable company that looks to satisfy a customer opposed to seeing how they can get out of paying. How disgusting...

    I am "on the fence" with these ratings. I contracted four rental homes (with a three year contract) for PEACE OF MIND and so far, I have had more stress in following through with two claims. One critical claim was over Veteran's Day Weekend, so I had hoped this wasn't typical of Choice Home Warranty service. They couldn't find a serviceman to even begin the process for over five days. At the end of two separate service calls and the compressor completely breaking down, I was finally offered a total of $500 to replace a refrigerator that was not that old and had an "outside the door" water dispenser. Feature to feature would be a MINIMUM of $800. I ended up spending over $1000 to replace the refrigerator and got a whopping $500 from Choice Home Warranty. (Subtract the two service calls I paid from that total.)

    My ONGOING issue is with a clothes dryer that was reported "not working" SIX DAYS AGO. A serviceman arrived yesterday and said the control board needed replacing and he would let Choice Home know. The company called Choice Home at 6am. When I called Choice Home at 8am, they said they were still waiting to hear from the appliance company. To make a long story shorter, after multiple phone calls, I am still waiting for both companies to stop telling me, "He said; She said" and just PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE STATUS AND NEXT STEP in this painful process. My tenants would like an operating washing machine.

    CHW had difficult time contracting someone to look at the fridge. I was offered to privately find someone for repair but I too was unsuccessful.     2/21/18 to 3/6/17 to fix hot water heater. Only my second claim! They sent out a unlicensed plumber from 1 1/2 hours away. Misdiagnosis of the problem then because they do not have a supply house had to order part from manufacturer that took a week! Then came out it was wrong. I then called another plumbing company out of sheer desperation who diagnosed and charged me big bucks to fix it. Choice is only giving me a percentage of my money back in a check that will be mailed 4/7/18 from New Jersey.

    The customer service is AWFUL! Nasty people like Patty and Doug do not need a job!!! OMG! The worse company they could care less what is out in your home or what you go through they find excuses not to repair things and do not give you replacement value, authorize and emergency repair or find another company to Assist you. They leave you to suffer! If this review deters one person from purchasing this fraudulent bad warranty from this company then I will feel better.     As a homeowner, you purchase a home warranty for many reasons, but I believe they all come down to this: wanting to rest easy, knowing that you and your family will be safe and free from expensive maintenance repair costs. Failures happen, and when they do, you want to know that you can make one call and have it taken care of by a team of professionals who will immediately go to work to help you protect your investment and family. Choice Home Warranty is NOT such a company. As the owner of 3 homes, each covered by a CHW contract, I can tell you that they have NEVER serviced a claim that they did not first try to reject. I've come to learn that their statement of "...determine the best course of action - repair, replacement, or possibly a claim buyout", means the best course of action for CHW -- not for you and your home. I thought I was paying for someone to take over and address the issue, but this is not the case.

    In the case of a built-in microwave oven, I was issued a check which only covered the cost of a lesser quality oven, but I still had to do all the work to locate and purchase the oven, locate, hire and pay someone to remove the faulty unit, install the new unit, and dispose of the old unit. The same occurred when a water heater went out. This time, concerning a repair to a furnace, we were without heat for several winter days while the repair company fought with CHW to approve and cover a repair which was clearly within the confines of the agreement. Repair companies don't have time to fight with warranty companies, and had I not been lucky enough to be assigned a repair person who cared, I know that I would have been covering the full cost this repair on my own as well.

    In the past couple of years, I've heard nothing by negative remarks about CHW. Recently a realtor friend of ours commented that, "If you want to find which home warranty company is great in the area, call around to the repair companies and ask them." I did that, and have found that the majority of them in this area "hate" working with CHW and often reject any of their requests. Our contracts with CHW end in a few months, and I have no reservation whatsoever in stating that Choice Home Warranty is one of THE WORST home warranty companies on the market. Never again will I ever agree to accept a CHW warranty.

    When I made a claim about my refrigerator, I was given the run around by different customer service reps. They asked for photos from the service tech, who they asked me to contact because they didn't have anyone to come out. Long story short, they were rude and condescending. After I received payment toward the purchase of a new refrigerator, I called to cancel. A customer service rep named Ryan tried to talk me out of cancelling. He continued to argue with me and asked me to give them another chance. I told him I had already switched to another company and he still argued and didn't want me to cancel. I had to YELL to get his attention. I don't lose my temper very often, but this has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with in any capacity.

    Choice Home Warranty did pay for some minor problems with my A/C unit but the company they sent out did not diagnose the whole problem. My heat was not working properly on my heat pump and the company they sent out only fixed the blower motor, that was not the whole problem. When I contacted them about the problem, and explained it was not corrected I had a local company diagnose the problem. The technician found several leaks in the coil. I called them with the technician by my side and explained the problem then the technician spoke with their representative and explained the problem along with sending pictures.

    Choice denied the claim even after their representative understood the failure of the system. I appealed and customer service was rude and not helpful. I then asked if their representative had a HVAC license and he did not. They are not a reputable company and I advise do not buy this warranty.

    I purchased a warranty with Choice in 2017 as I recently purchased an older home. They appeared to be highly rated; but I should have done a more thorough investigation. I had a claim at New Year's & they assigned a service provider; but there were problems immediately: My electricity/power was out & it definitely was an emergency. The service provider could only schedule me 5 days from the claim; I begged & pleaded with CHOICE but they wouldn't help me. By the time the service provider arrived, all the food in the refrigerator/freezer had spoiled! To make matters worse, the service provider had no expertise to fix my problem. I lost $700 in food & was forced to stay in a motel as there was no electricity; CHOICE told me they wouldn't reimburse me for the losses! The service provider did NOT have a license to work in my city; the City threatened to fine ME when they became aware of the situation.

    When I tried to cancel my warranty, CHOICE tried me cause me to lose $140 of my $420 payment & was forcing to sign a RELEASE FORM so I wouldn't sue them. This was never mentioned in their sales agreement! I refused to be EXTORTED & got my bank involved. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH CHOICE!!! Read how the Consumer Affairs Department of the Atty. General of NJ fined them almost $800,000 for unethical actions. They never respond to calls/emails when there is a problem. CHOICE is a BULLY & UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

    Just realized that fine print of policy doesn't cover anything. Clause F-1 of the policy states that any household item malfunction / not working due to rust and corrosion is not covered. As we all know any household item will have normal wear and tear i.e. rust and corrosion over period of time. Claims can be denied under the clause. In my case garbage disposal (Whirlpool make) started making a lot of noise and the technician couldn't conclude the reason for the damage. He was unable to see the what's inside and concluded that unit should be replaced. My home is only 3 years old so corrosion if any is minimal and end of the day it's garbage disposal which goes through water. The claims team concluded that they will not cover it. The claim team concluded that it's not covered and hence claim can't be processed.

    I bought this policy in 2016 and have attempted to use it 3 times... Whatever you need, they don't cover. Unfortunately for me, I paid upfront for my plan and when you receive the booklet it appears like your clothes dryer, washer, refrigerator, air conditioning, etc are covered but in essence nothing is covered and it's a waste of money to have this policy. They have a C rating on BBB and are not endorsed by them. I take the blame for not doing my homework. At the beginning of Jan 2018, I sent a letter in writing asking them to cancel my policy and return to me any remaining money, and here we are almost at the end of Feb 2018 and I have not heard from them.     After having been with American Home Shield for many years, we chose to change to Choice Home Warranty because they had the best reviews and they have absolutely not lived up to them. We called in a claim on our air conditioner/heater. They were prompt in sending someone to service it. Our claim was denied saying it hadn’t been maintained. The people that came out took pictures and sent them in. They said the decision had been made, and there was no one I could appeal it to. This was at Christmas time 2017. I sent in the receipt where it had been serviced in Nov. 2017. Choice had even came out and replaced a part on my AC in November. They told me the company that serviced it did not do it properly. How unprofessional and discriminatory since this company has been in business for 30 years.

    If they want service done by someone specific, they should let us know. Our local company said that with over 1500 AC repair/replacements needed, they had paid $700 on ONE of them. They told everyone else it had not been maintained. My son-in-law had the very same problem. Very disappointed since I had been happy with them up to now.

Their contractors lie to my face and they do nothing about it. I have reported tech's scam and they do nothing! They put it all back on me.     I have carried Choice Home Warranty since 10/17/2014. I have only submitted 5 claims. I have had multiple problems with Choice on 3 of these 5 claims. I filed a claim on my refrigerator in 9/2016 and it wasn't resolved until 8/2017. They only offered $450 to replace a $942 side-by-side refrigerator. One claim took 9 days to receive an appointment with a service technician and another claim took 6 days. CHW has problems getting the claims initiated timely, they are also using inferior service repair companies. Companies not calling to set appointments, not showing up for appointments, not returning phone calls, etc. These are the exact same problems that Choice was in a lawsuit over in 2015.

    Their advertisements online and with BBB state: "If the covered item is beyond repair, CHW will replace your unit with a similar or like feature model, or even send you a check to buy a new item. At CHW, we strive to deliver the best customer service to our clients. We know how important it is to maintain great customer relationships, and taking care of our clients has always been our top priority. The company always has been committed to resolving complaints made by dissatisfied customers." On the BBB site, it asks the consumer to contact CHW’s Consumer Advocate, Tracy ** before filing a complaint. I called and left three messages, never received a return call or anything. I sent a certified Return Receipt letter to president, Victor Mandalawi as well. I never received a response or acknowledgment from him.

    Now, CHW is refusing to repair my washing machine water valve. They’re calling it a Hose Bib, which is an excluded item in the contract. By definition on multiple websites, a Hose Bib is an outside faucet. I have just filed a dispute with them and am awaiting for mitigation or arbitration. CHW have only 1.5 stars on YELP, 1.1 star on mythreecents.com. I should've done my homework before signing up with CHW. I will definitely be cancelling their service as soon as my mitigation completes.

I have used Home warranty before with First American and the service fees got too high. Also American Home Shield's service fee are really high!

    I had several policies with Choice Home Warranty for my rental property and it was a complete waste of money. Whenever there was a problem it would take days to get someone out. Eventually I would simply pay a local company for repairs. They promised to reimburse me in a few claims but never did. They even double charged me for 2 policies on my the same property and when I brought it to the attention of Ryan who is the head of the company I was basically told to buzz off. Now that the policies are nearing their term I am bombarded daily by sales calls. I wish they were as aggressive in their customer experience as they are in their sales department. Do not waste your money.

    Switched both my homes over to Choice about 3 or 4 months ago. Of course my washers starts leaking just a few months later. First the company that was assigned to handle my claim was completely unprofessional. I had to keep calling them to get things moving and had to changes appointment multiple times because they will show up whenever or not show up at all. Then they lied and said they had fixed my washer and when I went to use it the following day it was leaking exactly the same. After over 3 weeks of dealing with them and my washer not fixed I called Choice and ask for a different company to come out. They were so much better and filled my claim.

    Then I get an email almost immediately to call Choice because they have to talk to me... Basically they said my issue was preexisting so they will not fix or replace my washer. I am not a mechanic and if the leak started before I switched over it was minimal and was not something I could see because it was under my washer. Such a disappointment, how can I trust them to not use that every time. Things take time to break so will be a “preexisting issue”?! Just an excuse to not do what they are supposed to. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because their customer service answers the phone quick.

    Our warranty came with the purchase of the house. We have had nothing but problems with them and they are a rip-off. I called to get reimbursed for a furnace repair, sent everything, pictures, bills, etc. Everyone else I send them to can open documents fine, not Choice Home Warranty. Error 404. THAT'S ON THEIR END! They say no, it's my phone, my computer, my email address. All me. REALLY? HOW COME everyone else can open them fine??

    Refrigerator has horrible smell and so loud it is awful. It's also 50 years old (came w/ home). Paid $65 and guy came (after being stood up by first guy). He ordered part & 2 wks later came back. Part won't work, said he'd tell Choice. No service, no response since & that was a month ago. Choice says they can't reach him any longer & if they send new tech, it's another $65. Now I'm sending pics for furnace certified mail, let's see what b.s. excuse they have to get out of paying for my furnace repair. I've given up on the fridge. It's not worth being out $130 for a 50 year old appliance that's not fixable and not worth $75, so I'll just buy one myself. Got a washing machine (another old appliance the seller left me) that needs work. I don't even want to deal with Choice. It's cheaper to find my own guy and pay for the repair honestly. My advice, look elsewhere. They take your money and DO NOTHING ELSE. RIP-OFF AND WORTHLESS.

    Don't be ripped off and buy a home warranty w/ this company. They will think of every loophole there is NOT to cover the repair! We bought this home warranty because we purchased a home w/ an older A/C system. Then after having the HW for years, our A/C went down. They wouldn't give us a penny to repair it!!! RIP OFF!!! And God-forbid if you have rust on any unit outside, then you're not "maintaining" it. They wouldn't cover our spa heater which is outdoors! Hello! We live in Florida... There's heat and humidity. There was a slight amount of rust on it... So that wasn't covered either! My advice... Go elsewhere!

    First let me tell that your sales department is doing excellent job to add more new customers but I am very dissatisfied with your service department. First they took three to four days. Was not a emergency problem, When I purchase a warranty and I told that I need a help on weekend or after 4.00pm weekdays for non-urgent problem. Second guy came yesterday at 7.05 pm and I told him that I have a three bathroom. He told me that he is going to do only one bathroom. Then he spent 15 mins to get a answer, job was very small. He spend less than 35 mints for complete job. My question is why he did not believe customer and solve the problem instead to waste 15 mins to get a confirm from service dept, second I hope I will get a better service and I am going to be permanent customer.
