    I live in Mesa AZ and one of our two AC units quit working. With the temp over 100 degrees, the other unit was able to keep the temp in the house under 88 degrees (still uncomfortable).     I was very happy with the entire process until I was told I had to pay $119 for the labor of a second person cause my washer was stackable, when questioned customers service that this was not specified in my contract... she said in a sarcastic way “we didn’t say we would cover the labor of a second man either“... I feel that this is something that should be fully disclosed so we are prepared to pay for more than just the service fee we have been told... When I bought the policy I was explained that the service fee was all I had to pay... that parts and labor are included.

    It took an entire month to get my refrigerator fixed. The first technician who was supposed to do the job did not show up, the second did not fix the problem, the third did not show up twice. These missed appointments wasted about 12 hours of my time. Choice Warranty did give me the option of finding someone else to fix it, and I had Samsung send someone out who fixed it and called Choice for reimbursement.

    Due to all the problems having a technician actually show up at the house and having to call for reimbursement, I spent hours and hours on the phone with Choice Warranty mostly because of the excessively long hold times. Reimbursement alone took 2 hours and 19 minutes on the phone. Furthermore, to set up claim, appointments and report problems, I spent the following time on the phone: 5/19 - 2 phone calls - 13 minutes and 32 minutes, 5/30: 22 minutes, 6/1 - 39 minutes, 6/13 - 23 minutes, 6/18 - 23 minutes, 6/25 - 8 minutes, 6/22 - 9 minutes.

    Thus, to get a $195.00 reimbursement, I had a broken refrigerator for almost a month and spend 6 hours and 7 minutes on the phone (most of that on hold) and 18 hours at the house either waiting for people to fix the problem or sitting with them while they attempted to do so (12 hours waiting for people who never showed up, 3 hours having a guy fix it wrongly, 3 hours having a guy fix it right). That is a grand total of 23 hours! This is ridiculously poor service. The hold message kept telling me, over and over again, to recommend Choice Warranty to friends and family: All I could think about was how many people I could advise to choose another company - pretty easy to remember - don't choose Choice Warranty.

    I never write reviews. They will find every reason to deny your claim. Had a my AC went out, they had a tech to come in and checked. The tech told me they will not pay for the leak check. I ended paying my own tech to do the leak test. It took over 2 hrs hold and 5 different phone calls. I ended up begging the rep to connect me and the tech on the phone so I can explain the test to the authorization, finally after 15 mins I get thru to them. I explaining to him (he was rude by the way).

    They sent me an email few hrs later to tell me they'll wont cover valve compressor ($50 part) so claim was denied. The sad part was they could have called me at least to me know rather than email. I tried to call the 10 mins after I receive the email and the office was closed. SMH. Total nonsense and inconsiderate. I leave in Arizona at 112 degree and with kids and they even consider that. We have been staying out the house for days. I have over 2 million followers on social media and I'll make sure they don't sign up. They breaking people's back.

    Back in November/December 2017, two of my ceiling fans were making a horrible screeching sound. Choice Home Warranty assigned a "technician" to come out and diagnose the problem. The technician set up a time with me, but never showed up. I called him and he said his vehicle had broken down, and he would not be able to come. So I had to start the process all over again with Choice. They assigned another "technician" to come to my home... about two weeks later this technician and his helper show up to replace two ceiling fans, which I had already purchased. The "boss" was on his phone almost the entire time. He hastily installed a ceiling fan that was wobbling. Again, I called Choice to complain. A week later, the boss' "helper" came out and re-installed the ceiling fan correctly. Never have I had such drama over something so simple.

    After speaking with my daughter concerning my current Home warranty was increasing. She went online and found Choice Home Warranty. After filling out a online information a representative gave me a call. The only problem I had with his new man (Jake **) would not give me enough information until I give him my credit card information. I asked about senior discount.     Called on Saturday requesting service maintenance on refrigerator. Maintenance came out Monday, collected their $45 service fee and have not returned. Called Choice and representative told ME to call the guy, rather than Choice reaching out to find out where the maintenance guy was. We called and he told us he couldn't come out the next day... refrigerator still not working! We pleaded with him to come back tomorrow and he finally said he would be there at 8am. Maintenance guy text my husband at around 7a and said he would not be out! Called Choice and of course they're not open yet. No repairs have started but Choice took the service fee!!! Will call Choice this morning and Request to speak to a manager. Poor customer service.

    The technician is not friendly. He told most of the things Choice Warranty do not cover. I was totally shocked. He told he put 2 pounds of Freon as it was low and suggested me to put leak proof agent to prevent any leakage. He told the cost of the leak proof agent will not covered by Choice. So I am forced to give that money. He wanted either cash or check and not credit card. He told the a/c will be cooling fully within 8 hours. But the temperature was 83 before he started work and reach down only up to 79 up to this morning. I was totally frustrated. Now the ball is in your court.

    My machine has been broken for almost 2 weeks; there are way too many delays in your process that have cancelled out any "peace of mind" that I was supposed to get with your warranty. The first repair company that you were supposed to send out was a "no show and no call". I WASTED 6 hours of my precious time, waiting from 3-8 for this flaky company. Second company, who is supposed to do repairs on my machine has been out almost a week ago, but I call them everyday and still do not have an appointment to get the repairs done. I have also called you several times, and I found out the problem was that you were texting the approval to the wrong number for this company. If I wouldn't have (again) spent lots of my own time, nobody would have cared and my machine would never be repaired.

    Your company is next to worthless, hence the 2 stars. I was between rating you 1 star and 2. There is NO WAY I will ever renew with your company with the poor service and communication you give. Not all of your technicians are capable, either. The first company that I waited 5 hours for over a week ago was a real estate development company sent to repair a washing machine, and they never called or showed, despite my placing calls and texts to them.

    Your company needs to be revamped with the customer in mind. Here I sit with a broken washing machine and no idea when the repairs will be made, so I have had to go to a laundromat. My first claim with you was disappointing as well. You deemed that my 11 year old stainless steel gas stove would cost too much to repair ($480?), so you initially offered me $350 to go out and buy a stove/range that cost over $2,000. At least the technician was reliable and capable.

    I didn't complete my order. While the sales rep was in the middle of upsell, I told the sales rep never mind and thanks for his time. The sales rep. on this call in my 40 years of sales call was a Horribly NASTY sales rep who almost went irate with me just because I didn't want to accept the 5 or 3 year payment upsell. I had to asked him to calm down. He asked what was problem, why I won't accept the better deal at larger financial commitment. He insisted it make sense, but he wasn't hearing me. It was terrible.     I’m not one to leave a bad review, in fact I’ve never taken this kind of time and effort to post anything negative. Take this for what it’s worth, but I know my family and I would’ve benefited from reading a review like this prior to signing up for coverage with Choice Home Warranty. The first claim I filed was for my HVAC system in Feb 2018. My heater stopped working, the heat exchange was wearing down and the technician contracted with CHW told me it needed to be replaced. I wasn’t too shocked, it was an older system and suspected it was getting close to end of its life. But with my system being a dual heating and cooling unit I knew I would also be replacing the cooling portion that worked fine.

    I didn’t expect CHW to offer to cover the entire cost of a new system but I thought for sure they would agree to a portion of it. However small it would’ve been, I would’ve graciously accepted and purchased a new system. CHW reviewed my claim for over a week then denied it. I had to purchase a new unit, just over $6,500. But that’s not that the worst part of it. This was early Feb and temperatures dropped into the low teens. I have two young kids so I also had to purchase multiple space heaters, which added to the overall cost, to keep our house warm. On top of everything, the most alarming thing was the technician that came to our house. I wasn’t able to be there because I was working so my wife had to handle it.

    Before we purchased the space heaters we had our kids stay with family during the day because it was too cold. My wife was there alone when the technician inspected the unit. The unit was outside so not really sure why he needed to be in the house but he said he needed to check some things inside. While they were inside the house, the technician made personal comments about my wife’s appearance and the clothes she was wearing. She initially brushed it off as him being overly friendly and trying to flirt with her. But it didn’t take long until she was really uncomfortable. It got to the point where she was afraid to stand near him, so she called me and asked me to stay on the phone until he was gone.

    I didn’t know exactly what was going on at the time but I was only able to stay on the phone for about 10 min. My wife later told me that after the technician finished checking everything out he stood by our window looking into the backyard and said “So… You know what’s going to happen next right?” My wife said her heart immediately started beating fast and she got a really bad feeling. She replied “Yeah, you’re going to call the warranty company and then they will get a hold of us.” Then he said, “Ummm. Yeah…” All the while just staring into our backyard and not looking at her directly. The technician left after that. She handled it really well and but she was pretty freaked out.

    The next day I called CHW to report the technician. I have no idea what came of it and I never heard anything else about it. With everything my wife went through and spending the week in a freezing house waiting on a decision, when CHW finally told me the claim was denied, I figured it was best to part ways. I told them I wanted to cancel my contract and get a refund for the two years I paid in advance. We went back and forth a lot, and in the end they convinced me to keep the contract.

    The second claim I filed was for a shower leak in June 2018. My shower had been slowly dripping for a couple weeks, then out of the blue it turned to a pretty steady leak. The hot water couldn’t be turned off, which also meant my water heater was constantly running. I ended up shutting off the water to the house and called CHW to get the leak fixed. I put in the claim on a Sun afternoon. The claim was reviewed Mon morning and I had an email in my inbox at 6:30a EST stating the claim was denied. I was beyond mad. I called immediately to cancel the warranty.

    I refused to let them convince me again to stay. But this time though, when I was obviously adamant about cancelling, they proceeded to tell me it was impossible to get any kind of refund on what’s already been paid in advance. I had 9 months and 27 days remaining on my contract, but because they gave me a discount for purchasing 2 years in advance, any kind of refund would be prorated based on the full price, not what I paid. They then told me, based on their calculations, the refund amount would be negative. In other words no refund.

    I had the exact same issue on another shower in my house a couple years ago. At the time I had a different warranty company. They didn’t even hesitate to get someone out right away, no questions asked. There are much better warranty companies out there. I had the Total Plan with Choice Home Warranty. Air Conditioning System, Heating System, and Plumbing System are all covered. I filed one claim that I really didn’t expect to get a lot out of, and another claim that was very simple, cheap, and basic, and both were denied. Everything else related to my first claim is inexcusable. This is a terrible company. CHW is headquartered at 1090 King Georges Post Rd in Edison, NJ 088037, and they have almost 4,000 complaints filed against them.

    I've been with CHW for 2 years now at $400 per year. We've only had to use them a couple of times for minor things until my water heater was leaking 50 gallons of water all over my kitchen floor. When I called, not to mention long hold times, they finally said they could set me up with an appointment THE NEXT DAY. I couldn't believe they weren't going to set me up for that day knowing the situation. They told me who was going to be coming out to the house so I called them and they said they would try to make it that day which they did. He said my water heater was shot and told me he could sell me one for $850, and he would take off the $45 service fee we paid for him to come out, but he said CHW would not cover it and never do. He said they only cover repairs.

    So it seems to me that their website that says in big letters "if we can't repair it, we will replace" is not true. I can buy one at Lowe's for $525 and my handyman will put it in for $25. They told me the policy says they don't cover the water heater itself. "Well, where does it say that," I said. "In the policy," they said. Well, I never got a policy, so now they are going to send me one, but it's too late, they have already lost me as a customer.

    The person in charge of the reparation was really good. Well trained and very kind. But CHOICE gives us the appointment 7 days after our claim. This is really unacceptable. A refrigerator is not a luxury object, but a need. CHOICE policy said you would act in 24 hours. You received the claim in less than 24 hours but the appointment was 7 DAYS LATER.

    My air conditioner stopped cooling and I was very happy as to how quickly Home Warranty sent me a notif. of a scheduled service... How quickly they came (within 30 hrs) and how quickly they fixed the problem. They explained to me what had happened and did tell me that I prob. needed a new compressor. Within another 30 hrs. My claim was totally rejected... A long list of poss. wrongs I might have done.

    I then turned around and explained that unit is serv. 2x per year.     Purchased best policy, AC went out. Contractor dispatched quickly and was helpful. He provided analysis for us. Choice refused to replace or repair due to “corrosion”. AC unit is 19 yo. Nowhere has contractor advised there was corrosion. When we called Choice directly they said that was true however they just “know” there is corrosion. As the temperatures are 100 degrees this week, and my elderly mother in law lives with us, we had to call someone else to repair... In FIVE DAYS. I hope Choice comes thru or they will be getting a call from our attorney. So we are sitting in 100 degrees without AC with a senior citizen.     I signed up for a contract today and was told it was going to cost $700 for 3 years. I asked for something in writing/email before purchasing and was told it will be sent after I give my credit card info. Next day CHW said CJ Electric coming out but sent same air conditioning man who played fuses. Turning off fridge ruined all my food. Again called CHW now they say sending out air conditioning man.     Every time I call it is a minimum of 30 minutes on hold. They open at 9 am EST. Try calling at that time and you still wait a min of 30 min. They don't want to talk to you. They want you to communicate via their online messaging. I placed a call on the 11th for our AC. Technician came out on the 16th and said he'd pick up parts and be back out by the 19th. Never heard from him. Call him on the 20th. No response. Called CHW. They called him and he called back and said he was going to pick up parts and would be there today or tomorrow the 21st. He was a no show. Called him and CHW on the 22nd. He didn't answer me but told CHW that the parts weren't in yet even though I got an email from CHW on the 20th saying the parts were in and he was going to pick them up.

    Today is the 23rd. I sent CHW a message that this was ridiculous and they needed to call me. Got a call a few minutes later (8:50 am) and they tell me they would have called sooner but it was too early in Arizona. I said it may be but I'm in Arkansas. They got the tech on the phone and he said he'd call me shortly to schedule a time. 3 hours go by and no response. Another hour and another phone call with CHW and they are blunt and to the point.

    You have two options: wait for the tech or have it reassigned. If you choose the latter, you go back into the system and another tech has to come out and do inspection again. They will not go off the other tech's work order even though CHW approved the parts and work. Basically accept our method or shut up and quit complaining. Throughout all of my messages back and forth they kept telling me the work had been approved and to call the technician. I can't count how many times I told them to read the notes. He isn't responding or returning calls. This whole company is a scam!

    The repairman has broken a slide arm on the bottom drawer of my refrigerator (he shoved it over and over again until it broke and this happened right in front of me). My refrigerator had a HUGE block of ice on the back panel and the entire inside of the refrigerator is dripping water on the sides and from the top panel. I noticed this happening but didn't pay much attention to it until condensation started building up on the outside of the doors. Then the day before I filed the claim the bottom drawer in the refrigerator started not closing all the way. When I pulled it out to see why it wouldn't close, I saw the HUGE block of ice that was preventing it from closing. There was nothing wrong with the sliding mechanism until he broke it trying to shove it back into place...

    I am very upset how this is being handled. Even if the arm was already broken (but it wasn't), that is definitely not causing the problem with the refrigerator!!! I have looked it up online and Frigidaire has had the same issue with the Gallery series with numerous customer complaints. It is an issue with some sort of manufacturing defect having to do with the insulation panel, I believe. If the serviceman would have taken the time to listen to what I was trying to explain to him, or would have done a little research on his own, he would have discovered that his diagnosis is very inaccurate. I am happy to pay the service fee to a qualified, competent, service technician that is willing to address what the actual issue is that is causing the problem.

    The man that came to my house broke the drawer sliding arm and then claimed that is the reason that my refrigerator has an enormous block of ice attached to the back of the inside panel, condensation is building up on the outside doors and water is dripping on the inside of the refrigerator... please send someone that can diagnose the real issue!!!! If this cannot be settled, I am requesting a full refund on my Warranty because the company is not standing by the service agreement.

    I have worked on enough home improvement/remodel projects to know that any given project, especially in an older home, once you "open something up" or "remove something old"... you never know what you might find! This was the case with the electrician that came out to "repair/replace" my ceiling fan. He quickly concurred that the fan motor was burned out. So he removed it from the ceiling. And of course, it was a mess. The wiring looked like "a bowl of spaghetti". And the "mount" for the whole fan was incorrect.

    He "cleaned up" the wire situation. He was uncomfortable in putting up the new fan without having a "electrical metal box" in place for proper mounting. I paid him extra to install the box. (It was out of the scope of the Choice Home Warranty agreement). He then proceeded to finish the installation. There is a bit of a "cosmetic" problem with the original "ceiling cover trim" (covers the hole in the ceiling above the base of the fan... attached to the ceiling), but I can remedy that. Overall, the electrician did a good job for what he had to work with.

    We had washer problems. First contractor showed up once and diagnosed and never returned. CHW provided for a second contractor. Showed up once and diagnosed a completely different problem and had to order parts. Didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks. Finally was able to get hold of him and said parts on order. After that couldn't get hold again. Called CHW and they were able to get hold of them and set an appointment for between 11 and 3 on 6/22. Never showed up. At 3:23 he left a text saying parts were on back order and would get to us asap. "I promise" was part of the text. While he was texting I was home on the phone with CHW not knowing where he was.

    Long story short, CHW is sending a check to us for cost of repair which after almost 8 weeks is satisfactory. Only issue with CHW is length of hold time waiting for an agent. This last call was 30 minutes on hold before I got an agent. Once I do get agents they are excellent. Contractors not so much. So CHW does a great job but contractors, no.

    Choice Home Warranty is the worst company. They never pay or provide service to its customers. When it comes to renewing the policy they will make all kinds of promises but then try their best to deny claims. I used to have multiple properties and under paid hefty amount to cover for three years advance payment. Recently one of my properties required work on the A/C. They found every possible reason not to cover and came up with their own clause and never paid. Don't ever go with this company, sounds good deal when talking to their salespeople but you will never get any service from them. I will give them zero star and wonder how come they are still in business. They should be sued and taken to the court. AVOID CHOICE HOME WARRANTY AT ANY COST.

    I called the repair in Friday. The repairman came immediately on Monday. He went to call in the needed repairs to Choice, and kept being place on hold indefinitely. Choice responds when you order the service and when you file a claim. After the repair person comes out, the repair person cannot get an adjuster on the line. My washer is still broken. I have been going to the laundromat and planning to buy a new one because it is becoming frustrated waiting on Choice. They need to hire more adjusters and have a direct line to the adjuster.

    The end result is always a pretty good experience with CHW but to get to resolution can be a challenge. Simply writing a message in a claim description box just isn’t sufficient for this process. In almost every case a claim is denied. Then I call, (horribly long wait times on the phone) to explain I need the issue checked out even if it is not a covered issue I need a reputable tech/company to go see what is going on.

    Twice now CHW in a very short period has denied claims only to find out that what was causing the problem that at first glance (not a covered issue) was actually a covered problem. For instance leaks are not covered, but the issue causing a piece of equipment to leak might be covered. A lot of extra calling and fussing away too many days to respond when CHW should have just sent a tech to check the problem. Guess what if it’s not covered I still need it fixed and need to know what’s wrong. First diagnose then let me know if it’s covered. Don’t be so quick to deny a claim, your repair companies would appreciate the business.

    Our hot water heater burst on June 11th 2018, it is now June 21st and we are still without hot water. We've been getting the run-around from Choice Home Warranty and from Old Town Plumbing (the company that Choice assigned our repair with). Now we can't get a representative from either place. When we call Choice, they put us on hold and never return to the phone. When we call Old Town Plumbing, no one answers the phone. I am now trying to contact the local news to see if we can do an interest segment so we can get some hot water.

    Not to mention that Choice Warranty was only going to play for the hot water heater which was around $400 and we were going to be out of pocket $548 plus the $100 that we had to pay for the service call for the expansion tank and I assume piping. For the amount of money that we pay Choice Warranty yearly we could put it in a savings account, and have the repairs done in a couple of days. If you're not with Choice Warranty I would suggest you don't join. I will update this post whenever the hot water is fixed.

    Absolutely horrible experience with Choice Home Warranty. If you think you will be covered in your greatest time of need when a major appliance blows you are WRONG! They have about a 4 page disclaimer on everything not covered most of which you need to be a mechanic to understand. We had our A/C blow and $0.00 was covered. I questioned 2 different managers at Choice and all they kept saying is refer to policy for rust and corrosion. Here is the problem. Almost all A/C units are outside and made of metal so if they are out there 2 days they start to get rust spots. Guess what! You are NOT covered. Not for 1 penny. What a joke. Paid $1200 for policy and was talked into all the upgrades. What a freakin' waste of money. Don't depend $500-$1200 on a plan because you will just need to cover the FULL amount of most everything on the list they claim you are covered for. Ended up paying $5000 out of pocket for a new unit. $0 covered!!!

    My fridge/freezer went out and the amount of time it took to dispatch a tech and for an appt was extremely ridiculous. I lost a lot of food and time waiting for this process. There was also a rep that "accidentally" canceled my call, so I had to get back in line with another tech company. According to them, there are no priority calls, that is good to know, now! My contract is up in September, I will make sure I look into priorities when looking for comparable companies.

    In the first 2 months of moving into a new house we have made 3 claims. The first was for a refrigerator that quit completely. They sent someone promptly but they had to get authorization to fix the problem so they left without fixing it. After they got authorization the part was on order for several days. They came back and that part didn't fix the problem. So they had to get authorization to fix it again so they left without fixing it. Finally got authorization they fixed the problem. 2 weeks without a refrigerator. The 2nd claim they denied because they claimed it was an installation issue, but would not provide any details about what was wrong with the installation, $65 for showing up and not fixing anything. Appeal filed and denied.

    The most recent issue was AC totally quit, technician came and said the compressor was bad and they denied the claim because the AC unit was new and they said it should not have failed so early. Exact words they use: "Catastrophic failures that predate the standard life expectancy are caused by one or multiple issues that indicate an abnormal operation or malady in the system." Again filed an appeal that was denied. Another $65 wasted. I thought the point of home warranty insurance to cover you against unexpected failures. When you call wait times are always 30 minutes or more and you can't reach anyone that can resolve the problem. All you get is an email with weasel words about why your claim was denied.

    Called Choice Home Warranty for a A/C unit that stopped cooling, was informed they could not locate one in a timely manner so I should try to find one, I found a A/C tech and he came out and said the coil had failed. I thought this would be covered but was informed corrosion and/or rust are not covered. How else would a coil fail? I should have read the fine print. Keep your money and fund your repairs by saving a bit each month. You would likely have a better chance of me coming out to do a repair than Choice Home Warranty. I would not purchase another warranty or deal with this company again.

    Hi CHW! I just wanted to share a very bad experience with tech who came to my house on 6-15-2018. He was very rude and unprofessional. He told me that it can be so many different reason with my AC unit not working properly, did not check anything and just left.     I applied for a free quote and then called to clarify some of the coverage. Upon clarifying the coverage I purchased the coverage over the phone. Later I received 7 phone calls asking me if I was interested in purchasing a plan. To which I replied that I had already done so.     I spoke with a Tracy (customer service rep). She explained the policy to me. We compared it to my current policy with another company. She offered me the veteran package with the lifetime payment freeze (as I understood it). I was leery because she seemed a little pushy.     I switched to CHOICE Home Warranty for the cost effectiveness reason. I was offered a great deal for 4 years. I've come to realize that when it comes to the big appliances/units like our A/C and Range, CHOICE does bare minimum. Our A/C freon ran out. They do not cover leak checks, or any of the most common problems with A/C units!! What's the point of coverage, if I'm just going to pay out of pocket anyways?? My flat top stove was not working properly. According to my contract, they are to repair my appliance OR replace it if it is repairable.

    Well, the broken part of my stove is no longer made, making it repairable so they agreed to replace it. Again, according to my contract, they would replace it with a similar model of what I currently have. My current model retails for over $600. The original offer was to give me $299.99 to replace my range!! When I declined that offer, they upped it to $349. Still nowhere close to what I need to replace my range. A representative called me and I was able to negotiate up to $449. To replace my range. Again, what's the point of having a home warranty if they are unable to fulfill their portion of the contract?

    CHOICE did replace my garbage disposal without much hassle, however the technician was unable to get a hold of any representative to get confirmation to replace the disposal. After over an hour, the technician left my house with my broken disposal, and had to return over 24 hours later to put a new one in. I've considered cancelling many times. The cost of the plan isn't worth it with how much I've already had to pay out of pocket.

    Replace Garbage Disposal - CHW had sent two different repair people out to work on it before. The first from WJA Construction & Maintenance was rude and I specifically asked that they not send him back. My request was on the order, yet that is who they sent. He had a bad attitude, put the old disposal unit in our kitchen trash can instead of taking it with him, and then told my wife to keep all foreign objects out of it. I was very upset that this is who they sent to do the repair after I had specifically requested that he not come.     Choice Home Warranty has been my worst experience while being a homeowner the past 33 years. It takes on average 30-45 mins on hold to reach a person. I bought 3 year home warranty and had not one claim until 10 months in when my AC quit working. Choice sent some company out who misdiagnosed my problem as a crack in a weld at 90 degree turn in tubing. FYI there was no crack. They denied the claim saying it shouldn’t have cracked. I asked a local company to give me their opinion. Turns out it was a leak in coil. I called Choice back and stated I wanted a different company to come out so they sent a diff one which they also confirmed leak in coil.

    Choice then told me it’s denied also due to some Condensation. Corrosion in coil. It’s AC. It’s gonna have some moisture around. I asked the technician how Choice Home Warranty was as a company and he said “I don’t think very good because we’ve never done work for them as all their claims are denied." I’ve had three other friends that cancelled their policies with CHOICE Home Warranty due to no help at all. Not to mention their customer service and supervisor being extremely rude to me on the phone. I would tell every person out there to not be tempted by the cheap warranty they offer. It’s not worth crap. They will deny everything for whatever reason. DON'T DO IT. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!!

It appeared that there are so many "exclusions" that many of the problems that can occur with appliances or systems will not be covered. Therefore, I feel the warranty is of little use.     After a few less than satisfying service experiences I decided to take advantage of their prorated cancellation. Sam was the representative that answered the phone. He was not willing to provide the address required without my answering his questions. After convincing him that would not happen he agreed to cancel it for me over the phone. It was a $1900.00 5 yr. policy and after 10 month the prorated refund would have been 460.00. There is a $50.00 fee stated in the contract.     They have lied every time I have talked to them about the time frames in which they answer claims. As they recently told me "we are not an emergency service". Therefore, your septic system will go out causing your sump pump to stop and your house to flood and they will address the issue at their convenience. You're welcome to attempt reimbursement but it's at their rate which is a fourth of what it really cost. Had I not been lied to I would of never wasted this money on them. When calling them out on their lies they are rude and continue with more lies. Never ever purchase this warranty. Also when you look them up on the BBB they have offered customer incentives for good reviews therefore all good reviews you read were bribed, not actually based on their services.

    The company that came to repair my A/C didn't give me any paperwork, showed up with the wrong part, promised to be back the next day, first thing in the morning and repair our system and never showed up. We didn't get a call until 1245 from the company, saying the part wasn't in stock, which means our repair man lied to us. They told us they would try reordering the part in two days, as their factory was closed for the Father's Day weekend.

The technician told me Choice Home Warranty would not take cover the cost of the repairs, and it would cost me $8500 for a new unit. Then my hot water heater went out, and they sent a technician out. Again the technician told me Choice Home Warranty would not cover the cost of repairs, and I was left with water all over my house with no help.     The technician you sent out said he had ordered parts, then I get an email from you stating that the cost to repair would exceed replacement cost. You initially offered a $299.99 cash settlement, which I declined. The offer was raised to $347.99, which I also declined. The claim was assigned to Ms Micyah **. After speaking with her she agreed to pay $420.00. The cost to replace the range top I have is approximately $803.00 plus tax, plus I have to get someone to install it at additional cost to me.

Also when I renewed with Choice this year in Feb, 2018, I was told that my first three service calls would be at no charge.     I finally got the email that my one year plan was expiring, the happiest day of my life, this company could be the worst company I have ever dealt with, if only I knew they were sued for denying claims and fined a huge sum. My first claim was denied because of surface rust on the coils in AC, they quoted me a line number of their rule book and I swear it was like article 1054.111 states, "Any rust on surface of coil gets us out of everything."     I opened this claim on June 4 because my central air unit was not working. I waited 2 days and no service provider had been assigned to my claim. So on June 6; I called to inquire about the delay, after a 40 minute wait a very curt and seemingly disinterested agent informed me that there are currently no in-network service technicians available, and informed me that I had the options to either search for a service provider myself and utilize the reimbursement plan (of which I am not at all interested), or to endure until an in-network technician becomes available.

    I asked to speak to a supervisor and by the time a supervisor (much more professional demeanor) came online (15 minutes later) an in-network technician had been assigned to this claim. I seriously doubt that it was a coincidence that after 2 days of inactivity with this claim, that 15 minutes after I asked to speak with a supervisor a service provider gets assigned, especially given that I had so recently been informed that none were available.

    The next issue was that he would not be available until the end of the day on 8 June (appointment between 3PM-8PM). Upon reading the appointment details I realized that this was the same company that had been assigned on my previous Choice HVAC claim; which prompted me to consider that Choice may only have this one in-network service provider assigned to my area of residence. This probability coupled with the Choice Service Center agent's apparent "inability" to locate a technician until after a supervisor is requested would go a long way in accounting for why it was necessary for me to wait five summer days for AC service.

    Recommendations: additional training and motivation for the first line claim agents, and also either add more in-network service providers to this area or be willing to contact out of network providers if no in-network technicians are available. When the service provider actually arrived (June 8 6:15PM) he was professionally courteous and knew his business, which is why my experience is rated dissatisfied vice very dissatisfied.

    I would give this company zero stars if the system would let me!!! Worst warranty company ever. They lie to get you in, but once you have paid them, they could care less! They state they have a 24 hour turn-around. They don't. I have put in 3 claims, since buying my warranty. 1st claim, the contractor they made us use said he couldn't fix it and charged me the service call. The 2nd claim, they tried to tell me it wasn't a covered service, so I read the entire service agreement, it was not excluded, & it wasn't until I threatened to sue that they covered it. Just put another service call in & same thing... Can't get anyone out for 4 days (I am leaving for vacation today) & it's not a covered service. Once again, not on their exclusion list, so it is a covered service. They are horrible to deal with and shady!

    Choice determined that the dishwasher need to be replaced. I was given no option as to having the Choice technician replace the dishwasher with a like item. Instead I was FORCED to take a cash settlement of $169.99. The cash settlement was nowhere sufficient to cover the cost of a low end replacement, much less having it installed. The cheapest low end dishwasher at Lowes cost from $300-$450. And then an installment fee of $75 by the Choice technician. This is criminal. Why was the cash settlement FORCED upon me and then at an inferior settlement amount? After this incident, I can assure you that I will not be renewing this policy unless a better settlement is made. A $350 settlement with $75 install fee would have been a fairer settlement.

    Extra Care Plumbing first came out to find out again it was not a clogged drain. Good Job, nice people. But then Had to schedule JP's Appliance to come out to find out the problem is a control panel. So now it has to be approved by CHW before it can be fixed, so another week goes by with no dishwasher.     On 9/12/17 I purchased a home warranty from Aaron ** of Choice Home Warranty after he convinced me how great and worry free the warranty was. The first time I submitted a claim was when the self cleaning oven would not clean. The cause of the failure was an internal motor which operated the latch which locks the door. Claim denied because door latches are not covered. Recently, the electric dryer quit heating. The cause was a failed temperature sensor. Claim denied because of plugged dryer vent even though I had replace the vent piping 3 months earlier. I had to prove the vent was not plugged by sending them photos of the inside of the vent. They finally agreed to pay.

    The latest episode is with my AC unit freezing up and blocking air flow. I reported the problem while making the claim and told the operator that the unit was probably low on freon. After 3 weeks without air conditioning and the temperatures above 90 deg. They sent a technician out to check the unit. He found the problem to be low on freon. He submitted for authorization to add freon which was denied. No explanation was given to the technician so he apologized and left. I am still without AC.

    We asked Choice to repair a broken water filter unit in refrigerator, a dryer knob, and air conditioner coil leak. Choice Home Warranty found excuses in all of them. According to them the dryer part was broken of unnatural causes! In fact the knob that was working perfectly was found rotating freely after paying technician service call fee to come repair, instead we got blamed. Same with air conditioner, it is due to acidic material infiltration, (like we spilled acid on it), again we paid service call fee to be blamed. Same with Water filter unit in refrigerator - not covered after collecting the service call fee.

    They advertise that they will fix or replace a covered appliance if it stops working. What they don’t tell you is that they will arbitrarily assign a replacement cost that they would pay for a ‘like item’ that isn’t even the same brand, color, size, etc. My dryer went out, I paid the service charge and they decided it needed replaced. The replacement amount they assigned me was $299. I went to buy the same dryer and it was $699! The best deal I could find anywhere was on sale for over $500.

    Then, I called to get info on cancelling and was hung up on when I asked if my most recent payment was for the upcoming month, and if so shouldn’t I get a refund. I proceeded to call back 4 times, only to be pushed to various busy lines on hold indefinitely. I never did get to speak with anyone. Later that day I got an email saying I had been canceled but was not due a refund. They had charged me the payment that day for the month of July, which I was no longer covered for, and won’t issue a refund. Absolutely terrible business practices!

    It has taken 2 different AC companies 3 visits and a total of 26 days to fix the problem with my AC not cooling. During the first visit, the technician claimed some door had opened while running even before looking at the AC unit. When he came back again, he claimed he had to fill 1 lb Freon. When the problem was not yet fixed, we requested a different company, but CHW assigned the same company for a third time. They later reassigned it to another company, but we had to call them back. The new contractor told us he had to fill 2 lbs Freon. We hope the problem has been fixed, but won't know for a few more days.

    Additionally hold times to speak to CHW reps can be up to an hour each time. Having spent so much time on the phone and away from the office on what should be fixed within a couple of hours at the most, I am disappointed especially since CHW came with good referral and hope my future experience will be more positive.

    The electric in both of our garages went out. We have freezers full of food in both and the garage doors were up. After being asked to hold several times, both operator and supervisor told me that someone would call me sometime the next day to set up an appointment. There was absolutely nothing they could do to expedite this as an emergency. For this I was on the phone for about 45 minutes. I called the company who they booked me with and explained the problem. They called you and sure enough, they could come the same day if Choice agreed to pay a travel fee, which you finally agreed to do. They were there within 3 hours and had things fixed.

    I am completely satisfied with Andrews Electric but completely unsatisfied with Choice. You had no problem letting hundreds of dollars of food go bad plus leaving 2 garage doors open to rain, animals and theft to save yourself a few dollars. You had no problem stressing me to the point of cancelling our 6 year policy. You had no problem not helping to solve my problem. I don't call you very often and I am sure you are making a lot of money from me. I expect better service from you in the future.

    It took a month to complete my claim. Each customer service representative I spoke with (except for the very last lady that helped) was not helpful at all and basically said "There is nothing we can do" and pushed me off on the contractors for the service. The contractors (I had 3 over the course of this issue) were also ALWAYS confused about what they were supposed to be doing. The first contractor was switched because of discrepancies with payment from choice. The 2nd just stopped coming after they came out 3 times and I was re-assigned starting the process ALL over. The 3rd team came out and replaced a part (after a 3 contractors said the complete assembly needed to be replaced) and it still didn't work. I did not have hot water for a month. A full month. Even after multiple escalations and numerous phone calls to Choice.

    Parallel to this issue I had an insurance claim out for a car issue and the customer service I received for that issue compared to Choice was night and day. Follow up calls to let me understand what was going on. I never received any CORRECT information from any sources from Choice. Timely responses and help. Nothing was completed in a timely manner with Choice. With this being my first warranty experience I am truly disappointed in my Choice Warranty experience and I do not plan on recommending choice to anyone else or renewing my warranty. In the "Hold messages" when calling customer service (which I know really well from being on hold an astronomical amount of time) say that "Choice Home Warranty puts customer service first". This does not seem to be the case to me.

    I have received horrible customer service from Choice Warranty & I'm going to seek a refund and go with another company that we worked with when our house was on the market. The difference is remarkable to the two companies. With the other company, I place a request online & paid (which is more convenient to me) at that time and I would be contacted within an hour. Both vendors couldn't take a credit card & wanted cash or a check. With Choice, it has taken days and weeks to get a response from the vendor to do repairs. I think they must not pay their vendors well because no one wants to pick up jobs to serve the customers.

    For our first claim with our air con, the company that came out was unprofessional and wanted me to pay in cash!! With no receipt or business card. Their truck was unmarked so I had no idea they were from the company assigned except that they said they were. On our next claim which was a leaking toilet -- it took 10 days for the plumber to get to us!! It was crazy. We had company and had to shut down that toilet basically. There doesn't seem to be any urgency on the part of Choice to get issues resolved. When the plumber was here, I had written online the issues which was more than one thing -- the same toilet seems to be running constantly as well as leaking. And also wrote on the request online about the seal on another toilet. Well, he didn't get that memo so he wouldn't do anything outside of the main toilet.

    We called to try to get it approved so he could get paid if he did the work, and the wait was an hour long, so we had to forget it. Now, it's running constantly again, and it's been 3 days since I called the plumber back and when calling both phone numbers for him, his mail box is full. It is the worst customer service ever!! I'm going to try and get a refund & go with the warranty company we had when we were selling our home. They were a dream!! Stay away from Choice warranty unless you like poor service. I wanted to give Choice zero stars but it's required to submit so had to give at least a 1 star.

    I called to have a plumber come over, he came and had a dog in the van with him, he rolled the windows up, it was then that I knew he wasn’t going to be at my house for a long time. The guy immediately asked for the trade fee and was shaky in his stance, almost to a drunken stupor. He looked at the plumbing issue in the bathroom and stated that to fix it would cost around $650 dollars, he told me that I would be contacted by the warranty company after he wrote a report. That was three weeks ago and I had a neighbor come and fix the issue by replacing some washers and a few water stems.     Choice Home Warranty or the company that called me several times trying to get me to switch to them so I don't know what a great company they are all this stuff until I have to call them for a service call on my central heat and air unit. They deny a pound and a half of Freon stating that I got a leak in my unit and the service text explain it's an older unit. They leak but they have no part in hearing that. To make a long story short they denied my claim for a pound and a half of Freon which would only cost $110 their price. Do not get this company. This is the worst experience I've ever had dealing with them and I've had companies before. This is sad. I'm a disabled veteran and I've never ever experienced any kind of dealings like this in my life so do what you want but in my opinion shop somewhere else.

    I'll be brief. Simply put your sales rep (Joe **) lied to me about a couple different things. I asked some very specific questions about what is covered on the contract. I have had several bad experiences with AHS and was hoping your company would be different. I'm currently using AHS to repair my AC unit. I was blindsided when they said I would have to pay for modifications to be done (my fault, it's in the contract), and I have been waiting a month for repairs to be made on the AC which still haven't been done. Turns out after reading the contract, which he wouldn't send to me unless I purchased the warranty with you guys, modifications are definitely not a covered benefit.

    Secondly, I asked about certain appliance coverages, one being about hot water heaters. I told him that my hot water heater is located under a countertop and would that be covered if it broke, he said yes. Well, once again, a lie!! It clearly states in your contract that my compact (40 or 50 gal) water heater would not be covered. I am not clear on what the written contract says about replacing freon in the AC if it is needed or topping it off it is low for some reason. Joe says you guys cover that expense. He said I can cancel in the first 30 days with a money back guarantee but if I understand the contract, you guys have a $50 admin??? charge, which is more than the monthly payment.

    Lastly, Joe seemed more interested in getting my payment than answering my questions. He constantly talked over me and wouldn't let me finish what I was saying to him. I am going to think long and hard on if I will keep you guys or cancel in the next 30 days. AHS may take forever to fix things (which it seems in your contract that y'all can't be held responsible for long times for fixing stuff), but at least they haven't lied to me (on the first day no less).

    Do not use Choice Home Warranty. I have a leak in my AC system. Called Choice they sent out a tech. He determined there was a leak in my evaporator coil. Even though they say they cover the entire AC system, they did not pay for my repairs because they said the leak was due to rust and corrosion. That exclusion is noted as a general exclusion in their agreement. However if simply says components are not covered if they are inoperable due to rust and corrosion. It does not specify anything beyond that. Nothing specific to AC units. Their agreement also says that they will cover systems that become inoperable due to normal wear and tear. An AC evaporator is exposed to constant moisture, almost 24/7.

    I live in Southeast Texas where it is very humid. They are blaming the leak on rust and corrosion and stating that repair or replacement is not covered due to that. This makes no sense because the coils, which are copper, are held in place with sheet metal. The sheet metal is going to rust. That is the only place where there is rust is. It is around the area in which the sheet metal encases the coils, where the moisture is present. One would think that since evaporator coil is used to remove moisture from the air and is subjected to constant moisture, that it would be considered normal wear and tear. And for the evaporator, it is normal wear and tear! Choice doesn't consider that when determining whether or not it will be covered. But rather, they fall back onto the rust and corrosion exclusion.

    This practice is very deceptive and fraudulent. I'm sure there are a plethora of people to whom Choice has done this to. I will be doing some research and contacting an attorney and looking into the possibility of a class-action lawsuit. Choice Home Warranty is a joke! I heartily DO NOT recommend using them. This is the second time they have done this to me. On a previous visit related to my heater, they did not pay for that either. They seem to always find a way to get out of paying.

    Two appointments were scheduled through CHW to have a tech come out to service the unit. However, both appointments were cancelled, after waiting all day and missing out on two days of work myself. One company kept delaying the appointment time until ultimately canceling and refusing to come to my area. And the 2nd company just flat out said they had never heard of my town and “I needed to call someone else”. So after all of this frustration we selected the reimbursement option after being promised by two associates that we would be refunded 100% and that you refund at the technician’s rate. My tech arrived 6/6 after 7:00pm and started the diagnosis of the AC unit.

    After determining it was low on refrigerant he determined we would need 2 or 3 pounds added to cool our home. My wife called CHW for our technician to approve the service before it was performed. After selecting multiple options all we managed to connect to was a recording stating the office had closed and 7pm EST. We have a 2 year old son and it has been very difficult for him to sleep in the warm house. I had my technician pump the amount of refrigerant he recommended after temperature tests, which was 3 pounds. The bill came to $464 after the 3 pounds of R22 at $125 a pound and the $89 service call.

    All that was offered in reimbursement was $170. This does not “provide a positive customer experience” or “ensure my loyalty” as your customer as stated on your phone recordings that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to for nearly to 2 hours total. All while waiting on hold to speak with someone about this simple issue, multiple times. If this is the kind of security and peace of mind you provide to home owners, then I really do not see a benefit in being your customer. This is our first experience with CHW and it has been nothing but negative. We have a renewal pending and that is very unlikely to happen at the moment.

    I called Choice and right away I had a technician with an appointment the next day. The technician came out at the appointed time and found the problem, had me up and running within 1 hour. It was 95 degrees that day, tech was very polite and professional, did a great job. Would have gave 5 stars, but as I was talking with customer service I was informed that my third air unit was not cover and had to pay extra for coverage. I did not like that at all especially when we paid three years upfront and told the customer service rep. that we had three units, will inquire about this.

It came down to two companies. We were excited to chose this company. Setting up with a representative on the phone was easy, but it became apparent that the employee wanted to sell us multi year contracts. We selected a one year order, thinking that we would see what the service would be like before investing a long term relationship with the company.     My experience with Choice itself has been great. When I’ve had to call, the people have been quick & helpful. However I currently have an open claim and due to the vendor’s mistake, it’s been a month and my dryer is still not fixed (they are scheduled to come out Monday). It’s not CHW’s fault however if I were CHW, I would be looking into the vendor to see if this is common. I’ve had a couple of additional issues since I last spoke with a CHW representative.     It took two months to finally get a resolution with my refrigerator. Initially the power was out to my fridge along with the ice maker not working. Currently the ice maker hasn’t been repaired and I have condensation problems with my fridge. I finally had to take a cash settlement. The first repairman seems to do a good job and told me he had the replacement part for the ice maker but told me he was replaced. The other repairman never came to repair the ice maker.
