    I recently ordered Choice Home Warranty for my newly purchased home only to discover the sale was canceled. So, I canceled my order with Choice. After 2 weeks of renegotiating the price of the house, the sale was finalized. I ordered Choice again. This time, the price jumped about $60 a year. I understand price increases, but was a bit surprised by this change in such a short period. This was my first experience with Choice Home Warranty.

    Submitted very first claim on July 10th. As of today I still have no washer. When calling your customer service number, I sit on hold for at least 30min to an hour. Even the technician and at the 2nd one says he can’t get a hold of a person.

    I contacted this company after many searches with other companies. I was immediately given a fair and reasonable offer to obtain coverage of many household items, including an in-ground pool. The person I spoke with at that time was Joe. He was kind and courteous. He was able to give me a reasonable deal. I opted for the 4-year plan. To date, I had to use the service, and am well pleased with the results.

    I recently decided to give my sister a gift for this service. I spoke with Nathan. He as well was kind, and courteous. He gave me a good deal for her. I was able to obtain a three-year contract with payments spread over a four-month period, which is very helpful. She is very happy with the plan. I find that this company is friendly and very professional.

    I bought CHW service for 3 years. Recently my water heater started leaking. The plumber came after 2 days. Took the deductible. No call after that. We called many times and were hold for 30-40 minutes. Unable to reach. Finally got hold off them and she said they will not pay. Very bad service. We are not able to reach after that. That is why I am posting in this site.

    We put in a A/C claim in 7/18/18 and it was not resolved till today 8/3/18. Once it was decided that Choice wanted to approve a nonvariable speed motor on 8/20/18 into my existing AC system that has a Variable speed motor. Created a huge problem. It took four days to assign it to a case manager (7/26/18) who could not resolve this issue by 8/1/18 and was the claim was resigned to another company who told Choice the same thing as the first AC company that my AC system needs a variable speed motor. This was during record temps in Phoenix AZ. Better/faster decisions need to be made and what Choice advertises manufacturing part for manufacturing part needs to be upheld, not trying to penny pinch in order to fix a problem.

    I made a claim for my air-conditioner. The company said when the repairman came out, he would need to contact them. That was a nightmare. He finally did speak with someone and provided a preliminary estimate but was impaired by the bad weather in a full evaluation. He was coming back to recheck it and would then have the details. In between, they denied the claim, failed to contact me for discussion until I got ugly in a post, then it was made clear to me that this is not a warranty more than once despite this being their advertisement and name.

    They said the technician could call them back to provide the new details but when he tried for a week without being able to contact the "person to contact", he repaired the unit so we would not burn up in this summer heat. I've contacted the company again and as every other time, promised a call from their claims manager the same day. Despite online contact and phone contact to them, they have yet to return the call or make a reply. I've been so dissatisfied it's unreal. I've now requested a refund of my money so we will see how long that takes if at all. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company. Go look at their website, they offer links to "buy a warranty", "Get a Warranty", "Why purchase a home warranty?" and their name is "Choice Home Warranty". Sounds like they are selling a warranty but they even sent that to me in a post on the claim update.

    I had spoken with a couple of people in search of a home warranty company. I decided to call and check out a few. I contacted Choice Home Warranty first. I got the sales department and told the guy I was in search of a great company. He stated that, "If you researched you would see we are number 1." I began to explain that, "No I." I could only get two words out before said, "Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, are you calling me or what" in such a loud voice. I was in shock and had to think for a second and said maybe he having a bad day. It really made me so nervous I hung up the phone.

    I thought for a moment and call back. I got a different person. I explained to him my experiences. He asked me to hold on and transferred me to someone else. By this time it was someone from the warranty department. I told him what had happen and asked if they recorded their calls because no one deserves that type of action from anyone. He stated, "Well I am here to provide excellent service." I'm still in shock about this. I told the guy after this guy's attitude I could not get the service from them and that they may be number 1 but is not a way anyone should be treated and I stated to have a great day.

    We purchased a home warranty and they were very pleasant. Our air conditioner went out and we called them and they assigned a contractor to come look at. The contractor came out in a old pick up with no identifiable contractor markings on his vehicle. He diagnosed the problem and said it was an easy fix, Choice approved 100.00 dollars for the repair, the contractor told my wife he would need an extra 50.00 in cash, when she refused he got belligerent with her to the point she almost dialed 911.

    We called Choice and said we wanted a different contractor and they provided one. He came out with all the equipment an HVAC tech would have and diagnosed the problem, he said it would cost 2200.00 to fix. Both contractors stated that there was no other issues but regular wear and tear. Choice denied the claim saying it wasn't normal wear and tear, yet it was when the fix was inexpensive... I have since filed claims with Ohio Consumer Protection Agency and the BBB, if you have them, best of luck to you.

    I have signed up with your company for 7 years and up to now CHW has been great, I recommended my nephew and he took your company and never heard any response. On my recent problem, the wait time is totally unacceptable, it started on Wed July 25, for a a/c tech. The first two tech you assigned doesn't work for your company at least that's what he told me. When I double checked with him, after two days and having no tech assigned you told me I can get my own and be reimbursed, of which I did. The system worked for the weekend but stopped again, my tech came back, no charge and diagnosed the problem, and found out it was a bad furnace control board, again I would of had to wait at least two days for your tech to come out. My tech came out yesterday 8/2 and waited over 45 minutes to get the okay from your company.

    The problem was a furnace control board and his cost was $375.00. Last night I received an email that you were reimbursing me just $200.00, which is an insult, so I am out over $200.00. I researched this item and NOWHERE could I find this part INSTALLED for cheaper than $375.00. If this is how you treat long term customers then I am inclined to ask for the remainder of my money back, totally disgusted with your company. PS try living in Arizona for 10 days with only half the a/c working, we have had constant headaches, plus other problems.

So I had to request a second one. 2nd Tech determine the issue was misdiagnosed by the first tech, so need to have a third tech come out. Had to open a new claim for this. Still waiting.

    I submitted a claim on June 26. My AC compressor is not replaceable, a new unit is needed. They will only give me $700 toward a unit. That said, it's 8/3 and I am still without a new unit. The AC co. that came out couldn't fit me in until 8/2. I stayed home from work and he never showed. I have a case manager that doesn't call me back. I asked for her manager's name today and can't get that. I suddenly received a ROBO call on 8/3 that another AC was coming today between 3-8:00 and someone better be home. No one will be home. The original AC guy has a $500 deposit. Why would Choice send someone else?? Horrible customer service. Horrible contractors. Never again.

    Periodically, my gas oven has not been preheating. When I turn it on and set it to preheat to 400 degrees, it shows 100 on the temperature screen for about 10 minutes. Then, there is a small explosion in the oven that pushes the oven door open a little and extinguishes any lit pilots on the stove and finally, the oven begins to preheat. For a girl using a gas appliance for only the last two years, this scares the crap out of me and makes my blood run cold every time it happens.

    I called Choice Home Warranty. They were very quick to set up an appointment with their repair company. Of course, I had to reschedule since they did not ask me about my available time. This was trivial. When the guy from JB Appliances arrived to check the stove, he informed me that the control board was faulty. He would contact Choice to let them know of the diagnosis and either he would contact me to make repairs or Choice would contact me to make arrangements to replace.

    Later that same day, I got an email from Choice: "Great News! We have received the diagnosis on your claim. It is more cost effective to replace your Oven Stove Cooktop than to repair it." When I clicked on the link provided, the offer was for $399. This seemed low to me. My oven/stove is a Whirlpool Accubake. I inherited it when I purchase my house 2 years ago, so I wasn't familiar with the cost. When I checked on the style I have, the value was $1799. I immediately called the company and declined their offer.

    Flashback: I purchase a homeowners warranty from Choice because I had heard good things from friends. I purchased one for my prior house, but never needed to replace anything and transferred it to the new owner. When the warranty I had from my realtor expired, I knew I didn't want to continue a relationship with them because I was without hot water for nearly a month when my hot water heater died. So, I purchase a second policy with Choice. The salesperson I spoke to assured me that if items couldn't be repaired, they would be replaced at same or better value.

    So with that conversation in my memory bank, I was disappointed when a very condescending young woman called. She offered $700, less than half what it would cost to replace my stove. I explained that this amount is not appropriate and shared the above conversation with her. She said the policy says they only need to replace with a unit that works. She then became very snotty and refused to let me speak to her supervisor. Not a happy ending to the conversation.

    I made several calls to JB Appliances, the company Choice sent to inspect my stove, and never received a call back. I had hoped to find out the cost of repair. After several days of waiting, I gave up and contacted a repair guy that had 4.8 stars. He called me back quickly and recommended I not repair the stove because the issue would probably arise again.

    I emailed Choice Home Warranty and requested contact from Jasmine's supervisor. I received a call this morning from a young man who acknowledged that their sales people need to provide much clearer information when selling policies and did not deny that promises were made that could not be kept. His attitude was respectful. He confirmed that $700 was the highest he could offer because that is what they could buy the stove for. I suggested he then buy the stove for me. He said they could get black or white. My whole house is stainless. According to him, they weren't obligated to make sure things matched, just worked. I accepted the $700 offer but let him know I would be sharing my complaints with anyone who would listen. Customer service seems to be a thing of the past. It's okay to lie, be rude and low-ball customers. I'm disappointed!

    We sold a property that had a home warranty policy with this company. When we sold the home we still had 14 months remaining on the policy and they would not refund any of that time remaining to us. The rip off, lying sales people there trick you into buying a long term 3 yr plan and don't tell you that you will not be refunded any unused months. Also their service was horrible the entire time we had the policy. They claim everything is pre-existing when it isn't. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

    I did had couple of service calls which I was extremely happy with. The problem is when there are situations where the repair cost exceeds the product value, I get that, however, the price offered does not buy me a replacement, not necessarily the same brand/model, I cannot buy a replacement period, price offered does not even get close the cheapest option available on the market. I was promised that if they cannot repair, they will replace with a similar model.

    I can not give 0 or negative stars for this review, so I have to give 1’s. First, I called regarding my ice maker, not my freezer. I told the rep, who I assume is in an Indian call center, because he could not speak or understand English. I told him multiple times as well. Pull the call and the rep had a lot of problems understanding. Second, the “repair” people came and said I needed a new ice maker and said they would replace it. To this day no one has called me and the ticket is closed. So, at this point, I want my $65 back or I want a new ice maker.

    Not kidding, our experience with Fire and Ice Heating and Cooling was truly exceptional. After introductions, I watched David as he went the extra step and explained every step of his trouble shooting process. I learned quite a few new things about our home a/c. The problem was diagnosed quite quickly, he had the parts in his van and the A/C was back up and running fine again. They were on time, really courteous, and professional. He was dispatched by the Choice Home Warranty whom I had placed a claim early this same day. They contacted Fire and Ice Heating and Cooling asked if they could work us into his schedule today and they did.

    Unbelievable, our A/C was out at 6:00 am, I went to the computer and entered a repair request. They sent back an email saying they were working on my claim. Then sent another email about an hour later asking if between 3 pm and 8pm today was agreeable. Having said Yes, they confirmed the appointment. An hour later, Fire and Ice called to confirm the appointment. At about 1:00pm they arrived for the repair.

    Great Response, great personnel and I enjoyed the banter as they worked to correct the problem. While they waited for a parts approval from Choice Home Warranty, (which was approved in about 15-20 minutes) David did some a/c preventative maintenance for us. This was no doubt the best service from a maintenance company and Service Technicians I have ever experienced and we were/are extremely satisfied.     Hi, I’m a customer. I called your office and was on hold for a hour and 45mins... nobody still didn’t answer. I’m a Unsatisfied customer. I put in for a claim for my refrigerator which the serviceman said I need a compressor on July 30. Today he call me and advise me that he will have to order a part which it’s going to take 2 or more weeks to get here.     I called in a repair for my microwave the first week of July. As of 30 July, I am on the 3rd repair company and it still is not fixed. I believe Choice Home Warranty (CHW) should have followed up from the first repair company, However, I have had to call each time the company changed to get any results our move forward.     I waited a week for my first visit from a technician, he found things on his next visit (because the air still wasn't working right) and submitted for the repairs. After another week the repairs were only partially authorized. Most of the repair is complete, finally, but the final part, ductwork that the repair technician found on visit #2, and which is covered under my policy, still has not been approved. I can't get an answer why, & I've spent over 2 hours on hold trying to speak to someone, then been inadvertently cut off before anyone picked up. I'm far from impressed with the service I'm receiving from Choice.

    Purchased a Choice Home warranty online and immediately received a call from a salesperson with the exact same voice as the phone recordings when you call them. He was calling to see if he could assist me anything and I said I wanted to upgrade from what I purchased online because there was a different offer that was emailed to me immediately after I purchased the warranty. The sales rep says "Oh you already purchased our warranty?" I said yes and he hung up on me. I got another call shortly after from a different salesperson who didn't want to listen to what I wanted and only cared about selling me a 3 year plan. I sure hope the warranty is handled better if I should need to use it. Very unprofessional and rude salespeople.

    In Nov 17 - CHW sent someone to fix a leak in our Hot Water Heater (which should have been replaced). The individual replaced a six-inch in-let pipe incorrectly because it is leaking at the same location just six months later. CHW is now saying it is not their fault. This is just one example of their cheap mentality and their knee-jerk reaction of "Find some loop-hole to reject the claim!"

    Purchased Choice Home Warranty last year because I have an older AC unit. Each time the technician came out, we complained of not have enough cool air coming out of ducts. Each time they fixed items, charging me each time. Service fees, and items not covered under warranty. The last time 3x within a week, they said the compressor was bad. Their technician called in the issue and said "The coils are cleaned and well maintained." CHW looked at a picture of the coils and said "No the coils are dirty and not maintained so we will not cover repair!" Since then I contacted the CEO, COO and senior leadership with no results.

    In addition, I've paid for three more technicians from different firms to evaluate system. All state the coils are clean and well maintained. But what CHW missed was that my airflow system under home had failed and I was heating and cooling my crawl space for over a year. How could CHW and their technician miss such a glaring problem? AVOID this company!

    I had a policy as part of a new house and the first thing that broke, they immediately began trying to prove that this was pre-existing problems and looking for ways to not pay anything out. I have had a broken shower for a week and a half and they refuse to fix it, I paid $65 and the plumber came out but they wouldn't approve any work to fix it. They also use canned responses that don't make any sense and put the burden on the customer to prove that they should receive any support. Attached is a sample of me trying to interact with them. They brag on their website that they are top recommended, but I don't understand how this is possible since they refuse to do anything. I would never buy from them again.

    07/25/18 the technician submitted details pertaining to hot water tank stating It has been determined that the vent/flue is failing requiring replacement and submitted for a power vent water heater (I have a standard gas water tank) and of course the whole claim was denied. However I explained to the Case Manager Ms. ** that the technician did not look at the vent/flue at all. I was there the whole time, Ms. ** was extremely rude and disrespectful. I asked to speak to someone else perhaps her boss. She said she is the case manager given full authority over the discussions on my case, she said the technician she sent to my house did his job as far as she was concerned. If I wanted to continue to appeal I have to hire my company to do a diagnose, I said that's what I paid them for. Send out a different company. She said her decision is final and she is the highest person I can talk to. She is a Case MANAGER!

    Since 7/25 till today 7/31 I have sent her several emails explaining that the tech never looked at the vent/flue and that I am in desperate need of a water tank. This is part of the email I sent her [(The fire department came into my home 7/22 and 7/23 because of CO2 build up, the gas company said it is from the water heater). I have 3 children, my oldest is mentally medically and physically disabled so I depended on your company to help protect them by repairing my home to help keep my children safe. I am not sure if it is Choice Home Warranty that tries to ensure that claims are not in accordance with their terms and conditions and therefore do not need to be covered by Choice Home Warranty.].

    Accurate and Fair: Order was made via website 23 July and scheduled for technician to arrive 25 July between 11am and 3pm. At 3pm I send a message stating no one has called or shown up and I did not receive a call from the company to set up an appointment as all contact to this point has been from Choice. I received a message Choice would be contacting technician. 2 hours later I get a call from the repair company stating someone was at my front door. I was down the street and I met the technician at my house and we walked in to look at the sink and he concluded that the garbage disposal was causing the leak. He said it was covered and he would order the part and come back Monday afternoon since I had other appointments set that day as well.

    I paid my 45 dollars, received no receipt for service or a business card and have not heard anything from them. Monday I contact Choice to ask about the leak and Choice closes the claim. Opens a new claim for the same issue and sets an appointment. Less than an hour later the claim closes and I'm not sure what is going on other than the notes saying the work has been accepted for repair. As of right now I have a sink I can use and I am out $45. Not satisfied at the "Accurate and Fair" facts.

    I did not receive a call from the John's Service All, so I called at 1644 hrs. on the 28th to make sure the time was correct... 1500-2000 hrs. I did receive a call before they were to show, I waited outside on the porch to flag them down. I waited until 2020 hrs. and did not receive a call to let me know that they would be a no-show, so I called them several times and no answer. Sunday the 29th at 1333 hrs. I received a call. The women who identify herself or the company saying that they were 15 mins. out, I had to ask who they were since I did not expect a call on Sunday, and they wanted to know if I still needed them to come by.

    She stated that she just found out the repairman did not show on Sat. the 28th. When he did arrive he arrived in on commercial vehicle, did not have a uniform or a name tag. He did not identify his company or his name. I had to ask if he was from John's Service All. (Positive feedback) He did check the fuses inside and out, finding a bad fuse. He continued to check the pressure in the compressor. Charged $35.00 for parts and labor. No apology given. Saturday's temp. was 96 degrees in the house. Would like a callback!

    My central AC stopped working on July 2rd. then I called the claim center to report about that issue. Claim center told me that, "We will dispatch to AC technician and they will call you soon." Until next morning no one called me. Again I called the claim center, after 45 mins of wait someone picked up my call. Short story, then I called my own AC tech, paid $130. Tech found there, "Refrigerant level is very low. And I can’t find any leakage or damaged, however, your unit is very old and cannot be fixed. You need to have new system."

    When I submit this info to CHW, they told me that, "We don’t cover leakage," and closed my claim. Though, there is no physical evidence of leakage. Low level of refrigerant could be result of mechanical or electronic failure too. Then I have long battle with their so called high level management, exchange of lot of email with proof of other documents. The end result today I cancel the contract. Now I am thinking to get some attorney help. Let see. Hoping for the best.

    I have called Choice Home Warranty 3 times today. I held on two other times at least a half hour. This time I currently have been on hold 1 hour and 22 minutes. And I still have not been answered. I am calling because the company they sent to service my electrical issue was very inappropriate. Not only did he smell of liquor, he broke a brand new fluorescent lamp bulb that wasn't cheap. When he went to take it out with him, he dropped it again on my porch. So I have glass in my carpet and on my porch because it shattered. I am so angry and I can't even express it for being on HOLD!

    Updated on 08/01/2018: After being on hold, not being able to contact Choice Home customer service for a day and a half, finally a consumer advocate contacted me and took my complaint about the technician that came to my home Monday 7/30. She promised I could open a new claim and the service call fee would be waived since I paid that technician but no work was done. I appreciate Cindy ** taking time to call me so that my issue could be resolved. I am still looking for an electrician to be dispatched to my home to take care of my issue.

    When you sign up, they will tell you "Everything" is covered from Plumbing to HVAC to appliance etc. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. My first experience came in July 2018, when, after member for 2 months we had issue with shower tub leak. They assigned "Arrow Plumbing" and charged my card $61.12, as it was the deductible every time. When the service person came, he said 1. Faucets are NOT covered. 2. Drain leads are NOT covered. 3. Tub leaks are NOT covered. 4. Faucet handles are NOT covered. I showed him that I have premium plan and they said, "Your entire plumbing is covered." There was minor tweaking in the sink, that he said he can do and he did. He spoke nicely and said "Sir, this is the case every time," he goes somewhere.     Several times I had to use Choice warranty for issues at my home. They contact the cheapest repairman they can find, who usually just screws it up anyway. Had a thermocouple go out in my water heater. They waited and waited to fix the issue. I kept calling and trying to figure it out, but they were sending me a repair company over 200 miles away. I live next to Indianapolis, I'm sure there are people here that work this issue. Finally after 45 days, I just replaced the water heater all together since the company refused to do anything else. This warranty company has already been sued for its questionable business practices, but it doesn't seem to have changed how they do business. Don't waste your money with them... EVER!!!

    Just got this warranty. Had not even received my policy number or anything yet. When I called in for a claim on my new house about a leak by the ac unit, a Plumber was sent out. The Plumber stated that it was not a pipe leak and referred an ac technician but said that because it was the same incident that we would only be charged one time and not by both technicians. I then got a call from the ac guy saying he was available and that it was the same claim so we would not be double charged...we double charged despite being told by two different people that we would not be.

    I called to get a refund and was told I could not get a refund but could get the credit towards a future use. IT COULD BE YEARS BEFORE THAT HAPPENS! We just moved and are tight on money as is and then this happens! It would be cheaper to not have this warranty. What am I paying for if it costs me more than it saves! I am ready to cancel. The company should honor their word and let consumers know about costs beforehand. This is not a warranty. It's basically just insurance. I have never heard of paying a deductible on warranty.

    I made an online inquiry since a potential real estate purchase had this 5-year warranty as part of their sale. When asked of his experience with your service, he stated he did a lot of research before committing and was glad he did. Since first registering, he has replaced a microwave oven, and has had a service call charge on his A/C unit greatly reduced.     Our double-door, bottom freezer suddenly stopped working and we called Choice Warranty immediately. We were pleased with the response time as a knowledgeable technician, Sean, was at our home the next day. He diagnosed the problem and indicated that he should be able to acquire and install a new main circuit board within a day or two. However, we heard nothing more from him or his company and our calls were not answered or returned for two days.     We bought a house a few months ago and heard that a home warranty is great to have. I called around and got some quotes and CHW had a nice veterans plan. Well, we had an issue with one of our toilets. A person came out and told us that the guts needed to be replaced and he had to order the parts. I paid him the $45 and he left. I never heard from him again. I called CHW and they sent someone else out and he did something in the toilet and then a few days later it had the problem again and it’s still having the problem.

    My AC unit needed repair and the technician, Santos, came out, made the repair and after he was gone my condensing unit outside would not turn on. He was so quick to leave, even after I asked to have the freon checked, which he said he couldn't do. The next day his company sent out an independent contractor that didn't work for the company, David. He wanted to re-wire my condensing unit and after several questions he admitted he had no idea how to make the repair or even what the problem was. I overheard him talking to someone else to figure out the issue. I asked for another technician and then Santos showed up again.

    Later, I received an email that my claim was disallowed due to dirty coils. The problem was, Santos told me the day before the coils were fine! I received an email on Thursday, July 26 to notify me that my claim was denied. In order to contest their decision I was assigned a case manager named Jasmine. This is Friday, July 27 and after four phone calls, I still have not had a returned phone call. Needless to say, I am totally dissatisfied with this company and the lack of returned phone calls. I believe the technician had no idea what he was doing and stated a false claim that my condenser coils were impacted with dirt. I'm curious why they were clean one day and then deemed dirty the next. Don't waste your time with this company!

    The company attracts you with lower prices, but the coverage and services is almost not covering anything. Moreover they try to find way to exclude the claims, even if it's for covered items and lower cost repairs like $100. I had two service requests in last 10 months and both of them I have to repair myself, even when both repairs were under coverage. One was heating system issue during winter days; of course you cannot wait with young kids home. They also play delay tactics of not responding to your claim for weeks; and even after several follow up they doesn't solve or give you answer in reasonable time. Most recent claim, they took 4 weeks to determine if this is covered or not.

    This lint assembly is totally covered under warranty and they are not covering because lint screens are not included. These are two very separate thing. And of course they are the nicest people and most optimal coverage when they are selling the warranty. Do not get into their talks. Find some better reputable company. I am cancelling my service with them.

    The rep I spoke with was Greg. He was very nice and amicable and provided a good plan. He told me to not write down anything as I would be getting all the info in an email within 5 minutes and took my first payment. Upon receipt of the contract I noticed there was nothing about the free first month. I called Customer Service and was informed that it did not apply to monthly paying customers. I feel that Greg should have indicated this during our conversation which makes me concerned that I will not receive the promised services, etc. I believe that full disclosure should be of maximum importance when establishing a new business relationship.     We purchased this warranty about 3 months ago. Last payment was to come out this week. However my bank contacted me to inform me my card was suspended because of suspicious actions. It seems Choice Home Warranty tried to take $1000 from my account earlier this week. It was denied by the bank. Since then they have attempted to take the last payment of $264 each day since then. Also denied. I’ve called 5 times and after an hour of waiting to speak to someone I had to hang up 'cause I have things to do. Absolutely unbelievable!

I am currently on hold for 2 hours and 2 minutes and still holding... what is up with someone answering the phones? The technician thought he fixed the problem with the fan, but the noise came back. I need a ceiling fan in my bedroom that won't keep me up at night.

    I was on hold one night for 1 hr 36 min and then I hung up. The next day finally got a hold of a live person and she was checking up on my issue, then the call went back to the recording. Called back and this happened 5 times same thing. They were trying to get an answer and it would always go back to recording. Finally at 7:30 CST I ended up with a gentleman that I explained my issue once again and he kept telling me it was standard procedure. We had a thermostat problem. The tech did his job but CHW said it did not go through. Tech held on the phone for 20 min trying to get authorization.

    My CSR kept telling me that he was still on waiting for authorization to replace. Needless to say I am in TX with 104 outside and 92 inside. This is the second tech that I have had on the situation. This is the second time I used CHW and it has been a nightmare every time. Just renewed for another year but will be thinking about cancelling this due to their procedures. The thermostat is $149.00, putting it in is $35.00. What is so hard about authorizing this to be fixed. By the way the CSR told me that they close at 8 pm my time and when I hung up with him it was his closing time to get off of work.

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!! I had used American Home Shield (AHS) for over 10 years & thought the grass might be greener with another warranty company. The Choice salesperson convinced me that Choice would cover everything that AHS covered and more. He also talked me into 3 1/2 year contracts for 3 properties that I own at a pretty good discount, but assured me that I could terminate with a prorated refund at any time. When I received the written warranties from Choice an example of what you will find is: Water Heater coverage all components and parts, expect & then it lists every component and part imaginable that a water heater could have.

    Yesterday I was denied labor coverage to replace an AC compressor because they said my 2 year old AC unit was within its normal life expectancy (too new) & must have been improperly operated. I am pretty sure that the last claim denied was because the item was past its normal life expectancy. By the way, you can’t terminate the coverage without a hefty “administrative fee” and full charge for any service provider. I have reported them to the Florida Department of Insurance to no avail. DO NOT BUY A CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!! The grass is not always greener.

    Over 2 wks to respond to claim - 1st appointment contractor confirmed from Choice did not show up and had never heard of Choice - 2nd one I called right away after receiving confirmation from Choice and they said Choice never sent them information to be able to confirm appointment. I called Choice at least 10 times because they were not communicating with contractors. Hold times at Choice was minimum 30 min max 1 hour and then their system would just hang up on me so my hold time started over when I called back...

    This was my first claim and happened 1 week into my warranty - was told by sales agent that I can get money back at any time if I did not like service and it would be pro-rated. I paid for 2 years service and was two weeks into contract. They told me because I got a “deal” that they could cancel my service but I would only get a refund for one year of the two I paid for. I can’t wait for my contract to be done so that I can choose a company that actually honors their promises and delivers the service in a reasonable time frame. I can’t believe the other reviews on here seem positive...! My experience was absolutely awful!!!

    I buy this Home Warranty at my own risk after reading all the bad reviews online and the fact that there is a class action suit in process against the company for not paying claims. After having the coverage for 13 months I reported a problem with my ac unit not working and then am scheduled for service within the next 7 - 10 days. Choice provided a company name that would be at my house to service my unit. I always research the companies that I plan to have in my home to check history and legitimacy of the company and for safety purposes.

    There was no evidence at all on the web that this company existed or a phone number in any business listing. There was only a phone number provided by Choice which I tried to call and could not reach anyone. This seemed very hokey. I emailed Choice about this and the fact that I was not happy having to wait 7 – 10 days for service. Choice then emailed me telling me that I have the option to have my own service company come and see what the problem is and call Choice with the findings. Which is what I did based on the email instruction, the company arrived the same day. Well they found the problem; we called as was told to in the email.

    The person at Choice notifies me that since I did not use their representative company they would only pay 90.00 of the claim. The total claim amount was 90. Service/visit fee and 271 for the part and replacement. I consider this extremely bad service and illegal by telling me that I can do one thing to find out afterwards that they would not pay because I did not use their representative company. I will certainly be expressing my experience via Yelp, Facebook, BBB and Glassdoor.

    I recently had a swimming pool pump motor failure. I contacted CHW immediately knowing time was of the essence. After 24 hours my inquiries were responded to with generic e-mails, stating they were searching for a qualified technician, however I could opt for the reimbursement option, where I find the technician and I foot the bill and wait for reimbursement.

    After over two days time I call, and get the same runaround, and after speaking with three people (two supervisors) all encouraging the reimbursement option. In other words, I do your job for you and wait for my money! There are 3 pool companies in my city... three phone calls in two days? How hard could that be?     So James ** of Aire Serv came out and before completing any work asked for the 65$. He diagnosed that a previous technician (Cedric ** through Choice) installed the wrong fan and Choice would likely deny the claim. I said, "Let’s try it anyway." He claimed it would take a few minutes for an answer and that I would receive an email saying whether it was denied or accepted. And then we would go from there. I received no contact, no email. I had to message Choice for an answer and could only provide a new technician free of charge. The new technician diagnosed the same problem but this time he said Choice WOULD accept the claim and he could finish the job tomorrow.

    We purchased the Choice Ultimate package as part of our new home purchase in May '18. We also added on the pool/spa coverage for our saltwater pool. Right after move in, we had an issue with the Dishwasher. It took 3 visits for the technician to get it fixed. Each time I had to call and call and call both the technician and Choice to keep things moving. This was after the first tech they set me up with just no showed. When the tech left, he didn't even reattach my dishwasher to the cabinet, my husband had to go buy wood screws and do it himself!

    Second issue is with AC. We have no AC upstairs and it's 105+ in Texas. The tech came out the first day which was the best service we've yet to see with this company and their contractors. He was able to identify that it is a coil issue. He sent in pictures and documents. I called Choice myself too and was told they would expedite the review of my claim and I would hear back within 1 hour. I heard nothing. The next day I called and was told my claim would be reviewed within 4 business hours... Nothing. Called today, finally someone was able to get me the help I needed. We might actually get our AC repairs now??? We will see. I have learned that the online messaging system is a JOKE! You have to call and talk to someone, emailing them is just a way to put you off and give you the runaround.

    Salt Cell on my pool was next claim, had already sent in home inspection report for AC, they want it again for pool... Took them 2 weeks to get approval and that was after I called in more than 5 times to try to get someone to help. Bottom line, I made a HUGE mistake by going with this company over Landmark which is what I was originally told to do by our realtor. You do get what you pay for and I have now learned that the hard way. There are a few nice reps that answer the phone, I feel bad for them as they seem to really be trying to help, but the online communication is a joke and the company itself is ridiculous.

    Well it started wrong from the beginning when I was the one who had to contact the tech for eta on my AC problem. He said unfortunately he'd have to delay his arrival 30 past the estimated arrival and 1 hour and 30 minutes later than the late arrival I had to contact him again for him to come up with an excuse of not being able to make it at all and needed to reschedule for anytime the next day. He said he usually gets started by 7 and I said that would be great but then retracted by asking for it to be around 9am or 10. Having no choice I agreed.

    This guy came out and looked at my unit to tell me that it only needed servicing and that wasn't covered in the contract. My units are serviced and cleaned EVERY YEAR and I have the pictures of how well maintained they are!!! I took these photos after he left. Even photos of my filters!!! His prices for service were way too high and I'm going to call my regular provider out to look at my units.     My water heater is 14 years old and the pilot light won't stay lit. First, Choice tried to deny my claim saying I had a tank leak which isn't true and not in the service documents provided. Second, they reversed their decision (good thing) and going to replace control valve and burner assembly. BUT, I researched the cost of those parts (not labor) and they are between 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a new water heater. Don't make sense to consumer!     I just had an issue with my refrigerator. After paying the deductible, I got an email from CHW "Great News! We have received the diagnosis on your claim. It is more cost effective to replace your refrigerator than to repair it." Well, turn out that they were offering me $500 for a replacement. After complaining, they raise it to $600 because that was the "Replacement Cost". Well, it is a simple SidebySide Refrigerator, with icemaker. But, the lowest I could get was $1000. So, be warned, they will not "Replace the appliance". They will just pay whatever they want. I won't be renewing my contract. I have another home with a Samsung Refrigerator that costs at least $2000. So, if this breaks, I will expect the same "Replacement Cost". Not worth it! Also, waiting on the phone for over 2 hours (for real!)...except when you select sales department.

    We bought a home warranty. We filed a claim for a washing machine that cost us over $700 brand new and paid the $60 deductible. I understand depreciation and how that all works. The cost of the repair would be around $200. They decided it wasn't worth fixing so would pay us $350 for replacement. I explained that the most equivalent would cost us $699.99, so they were able to go up to $450 for the replacement. I tried to explain that it means it will cost us more to replace using a warranty than it would've cost to just repair it ourselves.

    But my real reason for the complaint is that when I asked to speak to her manager she kept telling me she was a manager and was given all authority for making decisions. I explained that my reason for wanting to speak with her manager wasn't regarding this policy (it was really because she was rude, condescending, and frankly, unhelpful) but she kept saying she is a manager. I told her I am a manager myself and if one of the managers under me told someone that they didn't have a manager they could speak with above them, they'd be out the door. In the end, all she would give me is a mailing address. This is the 4th claim I've made with them. The first 3 were denied. This one was the first one for this machine. We've been without a machine for 2 weeks now waiting on their resolution. And now they are saying it will be up to 30 days before I get the check!

    I was very excited to get my ice maker repaired on my warranty plan. Made the appointment through Choice Home Warranty. Took off work to be home, waited all day and no technician showed up. Contacted the technician and he had no idea he was supposed to repair my ice maker. Contacted Choice Home Warranty and they had no idea he didn't show up.     I had a tech show up to repair my air conditioner, after multiple dropped calls to Choice and being on hold for over 45 minutes he left saying he'd get a hold of them and call me back, never heard from him again. It took Choice 10 days to get someone to my house for a repair. I made a claim 7/13/18 for a refrigerator repair. Guess what - still not repaired. It's now 7/23.     Cooling failed on July 17, called this warranty company and requested immediate assistance. Said that it's not an emergency even though AC was working and with 100 degrees outside. Had no response for 2 days and on 19th they scheduled someone and finally had a person from one of their affiliated service companies came on 19th and said that the Compressor was grounded. Called the warranty company for updates on this but had no response from either the companies till 7/23 - All the while my central AC unit(heat pump ) was broken and had to buy a portable ac just to breathe and live.

    On 7/23, they sent their response - They did not denied my claim, saying that the compressor was grounded due to overheating but due to debris lying nearby which occupied just 1/30th of the total space. Not sure as to why the temperatures of 110degrees did not come into the cause of overheating but it's their way of saying that the 'Compressor failed because the insulation failed due to being overheated by the debris lying around'. A truly bad company that will do anything to avoid a claim.

    BTW, trying to reach their customer service or claim representatives or claim specialists is a nightmare. It took me 1 hr to 3 hrs to reach their customer service reps(as only they can see the updates on the claims) and since Friday (Jul 20th) had no luck at all. At the moment it has been 2 hrs since I am on the line listening to the great music and their self-propelled claims that they are the best company. Used this company a few times last year - for issues with small repairs and replaceable parts this company is good. THAT'S IT.

    THIS COMPANY DOES NOT REPAIR ANYTHING. All this company does is take your money and send people within the first week if you are lucky and if the repair is a small part that can be taken care of by the provider sent, then they are good. Otherwise a completely hopeless company. This company seems to hate its' customers due to which it does not even answer a call from the customer. All it's good at is calling people repeatedly to renew their contract.

    I have been corresponding with Choice Warranty since June and do not receive replies to my correspondence. I had to get my own tech because no one was available from Choice. He talked directly to them for authorization to fix my a/c and followed all their procedures and instructions that was given. After denying my claim they send me emails telling me to comment in the comment section if I wish to appeal. My appeals conveniently disappear after I hit send which makes it impossible to make a file copy. After sending two appeal messages and then sending a letter to them I have failed to receive a reply.

    I have one final letter to them asking for the reasons for my denial after my tech was in contact with them every step of the way. I plan to contact both radio and TV media to investigate their dealings and to find out why my claim was denied. I ended up having to purchase a new condenser plus other parts to get this fixed. I am 81 years old on fixed income and paid a huge amount of money for this warranty service because I needed help in case big items needed service. I believe this warranty does not live up to their guarantee claim of fixing or replacing.

    Placed a service call on June 27th. Was told the soonest they could get a technician to me was July 6th. Waited through 90 degree heat. July 6th arrived and no technician showed up. I was very upset I used a vacation day but even more upset when I called the company with the number Choice provided to find they do not even work with Choice. I called and spoke with CHW. The manager's name was Precious. She apologized and offered to make it right by reassign the ticket and waiving the service call fee.

    I gave Choice the opportunity to make it right. I waited several more days to get an email stating I had the option to get my own technician. Called in and was told I could go ahead and book my own service call. So I did. My technician called me the day of to confirm time and showed up. He performed and fixed the problem. I called Choice. Waited 50 minutes on hold. Guy I spoke with said it was resonable. He would have to speak with my technician who had moved on to his next job. The technician called Choice 6 time. Each time "They were experiencing longer than normal wait times." After a lot of wait and grief I finally got approval to submit my claim for reimbursement. My claim was for $160.00. Got confirmation in an email that CHW would only pay $50.00 back to me. I feel that your company does not care and is very misleading.

    My current experience with this company is dreadful. I have just watch 5 news reports on the same issue I am having. Them not wanting to fix my AC or replacing it. This company is now a C on BBB and is not accredited by them. They are dishonest. They will only tell you what you want to hear.     I have had Choice Home Warranty since purchasing my house in 2014. I have had problems with my air conditioning unit since day 1. I have had someone out every year since the purchase. There have been parts replaced, parts rust out, parts cracked, parts quit working. I have had to have Freon put in twice. I have had yearly maintenance done on this unit. They refuse to replace the unit. It was struck by lightning and they refuse to pay to replace it. They have come up with long rambling letters of explanation that basically say they won't replace it because it hasn't been maintained properly. What is the point of paying for a home warranty if I have to fight to get it fixed? It seems to me they fight harder not to fix anything.

    Filed claim on Monday. Friday 11:30 am repairman from Sears showed up. Said he didn't have a work order for dryer. I gave him claim # from CHW. Said he needed Sears work order #. He could not perform work without it. I had called CHW on Thursday to make sure washer and dryer were scheduled for repair on Friday.     I was apparently given completely incorrect information when I called about this service. On 7/16, I reported a problem with garbage disposal and was given the name of the plumber who was supposed to come on 7/18. The next day, the 17th, I asked if this plumber could also fix the toilet and your rep said yes and I would save another deductible. I called this plumber with the new claim number and they said OK. They did not show up when arranged and I got an e-mail from you that another plumber was coming on the 19th. Apparently the new plumber knew nothing about the garbage disposal and was here to fix only the toilet.

    I did not know this and would not have permitted this situation had I been home, but my husband was home and did not know what to do. When I called Choice again, I was told that there were 2 different plumbers coming, which seems illogical. As you can see this situation has become extremely confused due to the misinformation I was given. The first plumber rescheduled our appointment for 7/23 and as of now, I have no idea what he is authorized to fix.

    When we were sold a 6 year homeowners warranty from Choice in 2014 on a vacation home we had bought, the salesman noted that the AC system was older and stressed the need for warranty protection for it. Our AC system just stopped working, and the AC repair tech indicated that there was a leak in the evaporator coil. Choice denied our claim citing an exclusion for any appliance problems due to rust or corrosion. They agreed that the leak was caused by normal wear and tear, but conclude that the specific cause was corrosion from elements found in the air and thus not covered. I have learned from various AC websites that coil leaks are one of the most common causes for AC system failures.

    The company is technically correct that the exclusion exists, but they did not disclose the impact of their exclusion on the most common cause of AC system failure. While the average person wouldn't understand the implications of the exclusion, but there is no doubt that Choice understood it. My advice to anyone considering this (or any other warranty company) is to look carefully at the fine print and to consult with professionals in the appliance fields to determine just what those exclusions could mean from a practical perspective. In my opinion the omission of the impact of the corrosion exclusion by Choice is misleading at best and is closer to outright fraud. FYI, we asked to cancel the policy and to be refunded the fees for the remaining two years on the contract and we're told that we did qualify for any refund.

    It has taken too long for a resolution. I hope I am still alive when a solution is arrived at. Your process seems disconnected to the consumer. Your relationships with your technicians take too long for effective communication to occur, meanwhile the customer is in the dark. Very poor communication.

    The technician was not at all helpful. He just want to take service fee. Didn't check my AC unit properly. I am not satisfied with the service. Choice Home warranty is a big name but they select very unprofessional technician. In future I will research for another company.

    We called on Saturday morning to report the A/C had stopped. The technician wouldn't be able to come out until Wednesday, but he was here first thing in the morning, found the problem quickly, had everything he needed on his truck to complete the repair and we had relief within two hours. We've been with Choice Home Warranty for over 3 years and other friends over pay for the same type of coverage - both monthly and co-pay charges with other companies are higher but their experiences are very similar to ours. We recommend Choice Home Warranty whenever the subject comes up - it really is peace of mind for those unexpected repair expenses.

    I would like to start by saying, it took a week to even get a technician out to my residence. Then after everything was assessed and I was given an invoice totaling $372.00. Choice Home Warranty only covered $80.00 of it. I think that I would be accurate in saying that this is the worse home warranty plan that I have had. I googled the price of this "new" thermostat and it was only $45.00. I observed it being installed and it took all of 10 minutes, so the labor was $327.00? Really? In layman's terms, Choice Home Warranty sucks. Thanks for nothing, have a blessed day. Food for thought: Every experience is a blessing or a lesson...this was indeed a lesson.

    So Choice has denied to plumbing related claims for my home. There was water everywhere in my house and they couldn't send out one of their vendors until the next day late afternoon. We would have also had to wait around all day for them to arrive. So we did what ANY PERSON with common sense would do and that is called a plumber to fix the leak that was in the wall between our garage/water heater and laundry room. Choice in kind declined our claim because we didn't wait for their vendor to fix it.

    They would have preferred me and my family be without hot water for 24 hours and/or for the major leak that had manifested itself in the walls to ruin all of the drywall and subflooring of our home. When I called to follow up on the rejection of our claim the PHONE JUST RANG and RANG and RANG and RANG for at least 20 minutes. So I called to try and cancel my policy and the phone would transfer and then hang up. I find this odd because Choice Sales reps seem to be able to contact me as regular as they would like to try and upsell me, but as a customer with a problem the phone lines don't get answered. What A Major Rip Off!

    I am not done yet as I am filing a report with the BBB and reaching out to my CC company to see if there is any recourse we have in reversing prorated charges for the 2 year agreement we purchased. This is just shameful that companies like this are allowed to rip people off for their hard earned money. There are so many barriers to having your claim approved that I feel as though this service is fraudulent in its practices of promising consumers a seamless process on the front end, only to convolute, deny, and drag out that process on the backend with denials and appeals. NO one has time for that. Some of us work hard for a living. We don't just sit around conducting sales blitz to separate hard working people from their hard earned money all day. Want a reflection of what is wrong with America? Choice is a Prime Example! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

    The company that you sent out to my house first took 5 day to come out, then they did the first fix lasted 12 hrs. and then come back out 4 days and did nothing on this day which took up my whole day waiting for them. And finally yesterday they fixed the problem. The total time of my A/C was down with 100 degree weather from originally call with them took over 2 week, I think this is totally unacceptable... 1st experience not good!!!

    Air conditioning went out in the middle of summer (July) and needed someone to come out. Called on a Monday afternoon and they finally came out on Wednesday afternoon. In places that have extreme heat or cold, you should have a response of 24 hours. I have a family with kids and couldn't wait... so I called out another A/C company. They gave me a temporary fix, however there was a leak in my air condition coil. The A/C company that I called also said that I was low on Freon. The contractors showed up, dirty and in an old pickup. Told me the A/C coil was indeed leaking and that it needed to be replaced. But the Freon level was acceptable. Therefore, Choice was going to deny my claim. Sure enough. They denied my claim to replace a leaking A/C coil. All of these insurance companies work this way. Don't purchase these home warranties, because they are set up to get out of paying for claims.

    Clogged Sink - The phone hold times were very long and when I did speak to someone they were very short with me and rude. The person they sent to my house never came back to finish the job and would not answer the phone when I tried to call him and see what was going on. I would not recommend this company.

    It seems that you have a lack of vendors and the people processing/taking the claim do not have a like of vendors. They only put claim into the system. Other companies that I have worked with assign claim # over the phone when you call, give you vendor and number so you can call and coordinate. I was very disappointed with the claim I have open for my air conditioning. I first called 6/30 and told someone would be out on Tues 7/3 between 11-2. I sat home waiting and no one showed or call. I called and you were reassigning the claim. I had to wait until 7/13 for a tech. The length of time was over a week for someone to address the issue. Again you had issue of getting a vendor.

    When I spoke to him to arrange an earlier time he said he was busy with assigned claims that he just got. I would have liked to used my own contractor, but when I clicked on that, said not allowed anymore. Contractor Cumberland showed up late and did not call to advise. He was submitting claim on Monday, but according to my follow up you did not receive claim yet. I have a mechanical failure diagnosis and waiting for repair authorization. You need a better system and accountable vendors who call the client when going to be late...

And the part he brought was defective and he left it like that.     They did not cover a leaky faucet; fix or replacement denied. The Subs they used were inept, and mostly made up of journeymen or non-professionals. Stood up for over two weeks by one, even Choice could not contact them. Choice finally sent me a check & told me to find one on my own. Of course what they sent would not cover the price of parts & maintenance. Worse warranty company on the planet!

    I have attempted to make 3 claims. Each time the system or part was not covered. They sent a tech to look at a intermittent lighting issue. He wanted to charge extra to check wiring. I was able to get it to work proving it wasn't wiring. He told me it was a ballast and called it in to CHW. I paid him the deductible, he left, they called back and said the ballast wasn't covered. I later looked his company up and he was a appliance guy... not a certified electrician. I call to see if CHW did yearly preventative HVAC inspections. Of course they don't. I tried to cancel the coverage, but I paid upfront. After they prorated my refund it was pennies on the dollar so I am just riding it out.

    They make appointments for repairs without even knowing if a contracted business is open or available. I have attempted four times to make appointments for two separate issues and not one service rep has showed up. Their customer service wait is ungodly on the days you can actually call in and understand them. I repeat WORST COMPANY EVER. Do yourself a favor and take the money you will surely blow with them and put it in a safe place and hire your own contractor.

    I called in a repair request on my dryer on 7/16/18. CHW dispatched a technician the very next day. The technician arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and had my dryer fixed in about 30 minutes. This is the type of response by a Home Warranty Company that will secure their future in the market.     Mr. Smith Home repair was dispatched to repair leaking kitchen drain. They didn't fix the problem. I called back and tech returned and still didn't fix the leak. I called him and he said he would come back but never did. I had to open a new case to get it fixed. I looked up Mr. Smith's online and they have a F rating. Why does Choice Home Warranty still use them for service.

    I had put a claim in about fridge back in December, they came out six times up till March! I still said it wasn't working right. They basically blew me off. They sent Sears out all those times. I asked for someone else. They would not do it. In March finally a manager said it would be replaced. Well I had them come back out. They said it was fine. I let them know the temp kept going down. Ignored once again.

    Now they came out again and it has gotten worse and now it's a newer problem which they don't cover! So from March to now they let it get worse and now will not cover my fridge! Horrible customer service have to beg for a manager! I'm currently been on hold for 45 mins trying to call them back to try to work this out. But I don't see it going good. I'm cancelling my service. I could have bought a new fridge for what I have paid them over the last months! DO NOT use them till they provide you with everything in writing! Which they did not do with me at all but took my money. Not problem. I wish there was negative stars!

    A month after the purchase of my home that came with the"best" plan my AC went out. Mind you, this is July in Charlotte, NC. I filed a claim online immediately, a repair company showed up the same day. My complaint however, the repair company cannot fix my AC without approval from CHW, which they have not done! I am a single mother of a handicapped child in a home that is 87*. I have called CHW, was on hold for 45 minutes and finally gave up. I've tried calling, email, and creating a not in the claim. When reviewing the online claim, it states they have closed it. When I called the AC repair, they said CHW said they can't proceed without speaking with me, yet nobody has reached out to me. I am beyond upset. I have been without AC for 2 days. Completely unacceptable! Don't waste your money on this company, it's a scam!
