    First my garage door would not open and they sent out a company who did an assessment then had to call in for approval. It took FOREVER so I ended up just paying the guy to fix it. Just recently (Dec 2018) I had ceiling light go out and called them. They sent out a guy who assessed the situation and discovered the fixture was damaged which was the issue. HE TOOK THE FIXTURE DOWN (14 FT UP) FROM THE CEILING and went to his truck to get approval. After almost an hour he said he needed to go to another call and someone would get back to me. NO ONE CALL ME OR CONTACTED ME SO I CONTACTED THEM...

    Choice Home Warranty Said they do not cover fixtures. Well how about putting my fixture and cover back up instead of leaving lying on my kitchen table. Bottom line the guy should have never taken it down if they don't cover it. Now I have a opening in the 14 ft ceiling. NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND HOME CHOICE WARRANTY. What a rip off. They will appease you with a free call at no charge. Does not mean anything if they don't respond quickly and leave a mess if they have someone show up. By the way, the company they sent out had a failing BBB rating!!!

    I filed for a service request and some people came out charged me 45.00$ and left, and then I got EMAILS from Choice Home Warranty saying that (duct work under the home has collapsed and requires replacement), "We are not responsible for collapsed ductwork." I'm supposing it's not a part of the air conditioning system, but this is also in my contract. Includes: clothes dryer, clothes washer, refrigerator, air conditioning system, heating system, water heater, electrical system, plumbing system, plumbing stoppage, built-in microwave, oven/range, stove, cooktop, dishwasher, garbage disposal, ceiling & exhaust fans, ductwork, garage door opener, Whirlpool bathtub.

    The entire claim process from request for service to the service call was an effortless process. Focusing in on the company sent, Potts Plumbing, to fix my drain problem, they were fantastic. The receptionist, Lynn I believe was her name, was so friendly and she was sympathetic to me having this problem during the holidays and despite the short holiday week would try and work me in on Friday but more likely it would be Monday. The guys that came Monday were great, friendly & since it was raining they laid cardboard by the front door in addition to the kitchen floor. In no time my drains were running freely and they did double checks and explained how far they had snaked the line and gave me suggestions to maintain the drains. Thanks Potts Plumbing!!

    If you have something simple go like an ice maker or simple repair on a washer or dishwasher, they will cover it. Wait until a hot water tank goes. They won’t cover it. They won’t replace a tank. They grind for a band aid fix. They are no different than any other shady company. Wait until you pay your monthly fee for a year then need them to cover and they won’t. You’ll wish you then had the money to cover the appliance that went. Stay away from them. They lie.

    Despite contacting Choice Home Warranty on two occasions to notify them of an unauthorized account creation and email subscription and my subsequent request to delete both these services, I have received no communication from Choice Home Warranty or assurance that they will be investigating into the matter and that my account has been deleted and my personal details remove.     I am totally dissatisfied with Choice Home Warranty and would encourage anyone to choose a different home warranty company! This is the third time I have had to have a repair person come out to attempt to fix my washing machine and it is still not working! Attempts to speak to someone in the company have fallen on deaf ears. Choice was told back in April the unit should be placed, however Choice chose to ignore the advice and I have been left with a machine that works briefly and then requires more repairs costing me $45.00 each time a repair person comes out.

    As of today I do not have a working washer and have no idea when I will have! Choice home warranty owes me $90.00 for two service calls that should not have been necessary, a new stackable unit that is hooked up and functioning and the disposal of the defective unit. Anything less than that is unacceptable! I advise anyone looking for a reliable home warranty company to run from Choice! I will absolutely NOT renew my contract and will tell everyone I know about my experience!

    Very bad company. Be careful. Do not listen to the salesman. The company warranty policy claim covers water heater. But exclude 95% conditions that will fail the water heater. So basically, you will not get covered. It is like a cheating. They do not cover any water heat leaking, fail due to built up... Tons of conditions they do not cover.

    The tech came to fix the refrigerator. He couldn’t fix it and told me somebody else will come next day. So, another tech showed up, he said the refrigerator needed a sensor, everything else was working fine. Now Choice Home Warranty tells me it needs a new ice maker, a new control board. I think your tech is a scammer. He’s probably trying to charge for parts that don’t need. You also deal with incompetent and inefficient techs. I’m not happy with your services. I want all the money I paid back. I’m entering bad reviews about Home Choice Warranty.

    Friend recommended Choice so I signed up for rental unit. Friend later quite disappointed himself with Choice. Oven gas valve broke in rental house. Called Choice. Long story short; took them almost 2 weeks. During the downtime, Tenant family (3 kids) had NO OVEN! I called Choice repeatedly; they talk nice - but no sense of urgency. I escalated to their "resolution" dept. They are trained to talk calmly and pacify client - but no action. I expressed strong disappointment. They didn't seem to really care. I understand if you try to cancel policy, you get very little money back. I would actually rate them "0" if possible.

    Someone came last week. She took down the part # and I haven’t heard anything back. The part will cost about $142. And for some reason there is a question as to whether you will approve it or other. I do not understand what kind of warranty is this?? It is fixable, please fix it. I looked at the claim status and it says closed... It is not closed, the dryer still makes noise, as the diagnosis was a bearing. Please fix my dryer per the warranty I paid a lot of money for.     Choice has a great "sales pitch". They tell you all the great benefits and value for money. The backend process is flawed. The companies they hired, the claims reps, the management, and so on just do not care about fixing the issue. They have zero proactivity, zero follow-up, and zero customer service communication. If you sign with them, please do not think repairs will get done consistently.

    We called multiple times and tried many different ways to contact the technician. We have not gotten a reply or nothing and we have been without heat for three days now. I called the customer service and they always say they cannot do anything until the technician replies or calls back. They also that they are not an emergency insurance service. I would not recommend this insurance, because when you actually have an emergency they do not help.

    I called to report my dryer, I gave the error code which indicates the issue. I was under the impression my dryer would be FIXED when the technician came, not just verify the problem and submit a report for approval. So I'm still without my dryer. Technician was nice but he didn't give me a business card or show ID. I just feel that the operator that took my claim should have told me that the first visit was just a verification. She was very quick to tell me I would need to be prepared to pay the service fee/deductible but not that my dryer would not be fixed. So I'm still waiting for the next appointment that HOPEFULLY will fix my dryer. I could have done by ordering parts on Amazon and watching YouTube video by now! But thought I'd use my warranty because that's why I bought it!

    Well the first assigned technician never showed. That was assigned and was told to wait 24 hours to see if Jeffery ** would show. Choice told keep calling him which was annoying because I was stuck in a cold house all day waiting on some contact with the heat and air representative. Choice told me about their other option to have a call a tech myself and have so I called my own and they came right out. My only problem is that my reimbursement check is 69 dollars short because I was only was paid back for the part minus the 60 deductible. So I was shorted the company diagnostic fee of $69.00 which normally would be covered if the assigned repair company would have showed.

    Ice maker. I called the office to place a work order for my icemaker. I was told that they will have a service person come out and fix my icemaker. I stated that it did not work at all. They knew my request was for the icemaker in my Maytag refrigerator. Then they said the next day. After I sat home all day waiting for someone to come, I called them to see if that person was coming and I was told, "No we don’t repair icemakers. They are not covered under the warranty." I was very upset and angry because they could’ve told me that in the beginning and I don’t understand why the icemaker is not included because it is part of the refrigerator. That is terrible.

    First the good points… Choice Home Warranty responds very well and promptly to service calls. Additionally, the service technicians are prompt, courteous and have the technical expertise needed to fairly assess the situation. They also promptly report the results to CHW and CHW responds rapidly, usually within 24 working hours.

    Now for the disappointments… This service call resulted in CHW determining a replacement of my electric range was less expensive than the repair. Initially I received an email offer for a $349 cash settlement that was less than half of what a equivalent replacement item would cost. I declined the cash settlement then the real frustration started. I soon received a call from the CHW representative assigned to this claim and she immediately said that all that they can offer only offer the initial low settlement which I previously refused and pushed me to settle for that using claims and quoting the contract and also stating that CHW does not actually arrange to replace the item and that the offered amount was what CHW would pay for the like replacement because CHW does not buy retail as I would have to.

    She also said that the unit was 20 years old (it was actually about 15 years old) and was insinuating that the replacement should be pegged to the value of the item back over 15 years ago. So, I said that, if HCW can do better on the price for an equivalent replacement please do so and arrange for delivery and installation. She refused to do this again stating CHW doesn’t actually replace the item, that the consumer has to do so. Thus, I pressed for a better settlement telling her that, if it was required that I replace the item, I would have to buy retail and CHW policy provides for an equivalent replacement and it costs double the offered cash.

    She kept going over the same comments refusing to address the actual replacement of the item and its actual replacement costs. She frustrated me greatly and I was becoming angry… I told her so and asked to speak to her supervisor. She said there were no supervisors. I asked to speak the Vice President in charge of her section and she seemed to ignore this request. She then cut me off and said that she could only go up to $589. I thought it over and given the frustrating 15 minutes with her I accepted.

    She placed me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back telling me the money would be sent in about 30 days. I asked for this in writing and she refused say the conversation was recorded. I tried to insist having this $589 settlement in writing and this was entirely to no avail and I thanked her and hung up. Even with this offer I will be out of pocket around $200. What kind of games is CHW playing and what kind of replacement coverage is this and why such poor customer service???

    I paid for a service call, I had called in or a broken garbage disposal. The repairman arrived almost 2 hours late. When he arrived the garbage disposal was working. I said, "Well you are a plumber and I have a very small problem a dripping faucet. Since you did not work on the disposal can you at least fix the faucet." He said he could only work on the problem what was reported which he did nothing so for my $45 service call I got nothing. That is bad business. I am considering on cancelling my contract. This is only the second call I have placed with this service and each time there has been bad service.

    Our claim regarding our Maytag range was initially denied because of an error made by the claims specialist who recorded the details. It was improperly reported as a broken door latch when, in fact, the issue was with the control board. Because of this error, the claim was initially declined. When I appealed the claim, it was improperly documented. A second time it was denied again. This prompted me to elevate the claim to a supervisor who finally agreed that our claim was indeed valid. On the positive side, the technician sent to diagnose the issue and complete repairs was top notch. It is clear that at least some of Choice Warranty's claim specialists need additional training at a minimum.

    The business motto behind CHOICE's dealings is very interesting. I pay $39 every month to simply have access to the technicians, and when they arrive I still have to pay $45 out of pocket for every technician called. I wouldn't have a problem with this if CHOICE didn't always try to give an excuse as to why they won't fix some of the more serious issues I've had with my house i.e. the fridge and AC & heating unit. The only time I haven't had a complaint is when the technicians have managed to fix the issue without CHOICE's input, which makes me want to cut out the middleman. I'd rather just pay the technicians $45 and deal with them directly than to still pay $39 every month.

    I have prematurely introduced 3 family members to CHOICE and they've all had issues, I have also worked with technicians that used to work for CHOICE until they ventured into their own business and they've all attested to the fact that there is a dishonest way CHOICE does business. Of what use is it to pay monthly if the warranty company has a million excuses (not a single excuse was based on facts or numbers just casual impressions, that benefit their agenda) not to cover the appliances and units they once advertised they would? CHOICE, you can do much better.

    Having used specific warranties or doing needed repairs I chose to investigate total home warranty. Having a family member that has a home warranty contract I have observed the program functions.     Like any other consumer I purchased CHW paying them 3 years of premium in advance, thinking they would provide exceptional service (As they claim). As time pass by the true nature of CHW started showing when I filed my first claim to repair an issue with Exhaust Fan. Technician found an issue with the switch, and asked CHW for a replacement (which cost less than $40). CHW took almost 1 month to approve and address this issue.

    My second issue was with Heating System. It failed and my home temperature fell below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I contacted CHW to address the issue as it was emergency situation. CHW rejected my claim citing the filter is clogged which caused the heating pump to fail. I replace my air filter every month and maintain it clean and neat. We pay premium to CHW to fix issues when they arise. CHW did not even care to call me or let me know the status of my claim. Please do not fall to the cheap tricks and false promises made by CHW marketing folks. They don't care about customers and fail miserably understand and provide service to the customers. I would not recommend them to anyone to trust and reply on your home warranty.

    I was provided a Choice Home Warranty as part of the closing process on my new home. I used their services one time and was happy with it. However, I have been harassed continuously by their sales department via email and phone. I have requested at least five times to be removed from their call list and have even spoke with a supervisor. One time I asked to be removed from the call list, the representative informed me that I could not be removed until I renewed my policy. This is unacceptable and even if they were the best company in the world, I would never do business with them again.

    I have the total package and for the third time CHW has refused to cover a simple component to one of my appliances citing obscure language in the agreement although the main appliance is covered. In the most recent case they won't cover a critical part to my HVAC system that would provide heat to my home. They said I could appeal w/ a 24 hour turn around and a 7 time frame for a decision. It's winter and I cannot wait 7 days much less 24 hours for a response. According to the technicians CHW often refuses to cover the most common items subject to fail in a home appliance system. I have no choice but to pay the for the entire repair. I will be cancelling my contract. Technicians cited CHW as the most difficult home warranty company to cover problems or challenge costs. Mostly the simple, common problems. Honestly, I think this is intentional so they don't have to pay.

    Microwave went out. Company decided that it needed to be replaced instead of being repaired as the cost was too high. Contract term F-9 stated that replacement equipment of similar quality and capacity would be installed at the plans cost. Company chose to exercise term F-16 of the contract which states that they and issue a check for the value of the replacement equipment (NOTE...VALUE OF THE EQUIPMENT ONLY EXCLUDING TAXES, INSTALLATION, DELIVERY, AND ALL OTHER INCIDENTALS). In the end on a microwave, the cost will be at least $130 that they will not reimburse (for professional installation, Delivery, Haul away). Keep this in mind if purchasing this Warranty. I would expect similar treatment for any kitchen appliance.

    I have had several homes under home repair companies such as American Home Shield and else. I have 2 homes under contract with Choice Home Warranty. I had signed a 3 years contract for each. I will not make the same mistake and will not pay this company a Penny again. They have let me down and degraded me every time I needed service.

    First service request: It took 5 weeks to repair a minor heating problem. Second service request: After 2 weeks of back and forth and repeated service calls, they paid less than 25% of replacement of a GE Profile refrigerator. Third service request: They stated the problem with the leaky evaporator coil of the air conditioner was not covered because the system was old. Home is in Houston area. Fourth service request: They stated the problem with the leaky evaporator coil of the air conditioner was not covered because the system was old. Home is in Austin area. In both air conditioning issues the Technicians stated that other warranty companies that they have account with would not deny service and would pay for repairs or replacement.     Updated on 01/03/2019: After refusing to pay a claim, for a refrigerator repair, Instead of paying for the claim, Choice Home Warranty made me an offer to send back my $375 and cancel the policy. At the same time they requested that I give them a 5-star rating for their services on their website. I refused to accept the offer, and told them, "What is the use of an insurance policy, when it can't be used anyway." Any time you have a repair that is too high, they want to cancel your policy and refund the $375 you paid for the policy. That's not how insurance policies work!!! They always try to avoid paying a claim. I hope no one would use this company, they will not help you. They only want your money!!!

    Original Review: I called for service on my sub zero refrigerator on December 12. They came 8 days later, and determined it needed parts and needs authorization, that never came, they said it was a leak and they don't cover leaks. I called another company and paid for it again and they said it needed parts causing the problem. Again they turned me down. This time they said it was line restriction, and it's not covered. They will always try not to pay a claim! I will never use them again, and I will have to pay for this on my own. They are a ripoff company!!!

    In November 2018, Choice Home Warranty hounded me with hundreds of phone calls a week to sign up. So I did. In December, I had a problem with a few minor issues at home and I filed a claim. They found a company to work on my home issues for Dec 25th (Christmas Day) from 3-8 PM. I could not get a hold of the technician before the appointment and neither could CHW. When I called CHW yesterday at 6 PM to inquire about the technician, they said to wait until 8 PM. No one came. This morning, no one from CHW was helpful and they proceeded to cancel my warranty after only one month into the contract. Be aware, they gave me only 10 months of service money back and also deducted another $50 off from my contract for cancellation fees. Stay away from CHW, do not believe all the fake reviews. Thanks.

    My understanding was that all I had to pay was a $60 Co-Pay, and that you would send a reliable appropriate service contractor within 24 hours or less.     I had plumbing problem, it was leaking behind the wall. The technician came and said that my catridge was broken. After they submit to home warranty, it didn't cover, so I made a complaint and finally got cover, but I still found that the pipe still leaking behind the wall. I call CHW again, the tech came again and said that the shower arm was broken, it need to be replaced, again it didn't cover by CHW. The manager Tashya will send me a $75 check (20 days, I haven't receive the check till now), I hire another plumber to fix it and my plumber just fix it without replaced the shower arm!

    We just wasting my time and money. Everytime the plumber came, he only diagnosed for 5 min, they don't even bring the tools, another one I have plumbing issue, he said my faucet was broken, it didn't cover by CHW. If I have to replace the faucet and fix the leak it'll cost me 300$, my Kohler faucet isn't old one, it only probably like a year. The tech just trying to fix the problem in the hard and expensive way!!! They wanted to make money from the CHW and clients!

    I got so frustrated dealing with CHW, now I have a problem with my dishwasher. The tech came on Friday, only 5 min, he said the motherboard was broken. I have newer KitchenAid dishwasher since I moved in the house 14 months ago, it never has a problem before and barely used, I like handwash better. Is it really the motherboard broken? Or just want to make money?? Now I have to wait CHW the decision. It 4th day waiting their decision, I really hope they fix my dishwasher.

I said, "I want to talk my your manager", she said that, "I'M THE HIGHEST MANAGER IN HERE! YOU ONLY CAN TALK TO ME!"

    I made a claim on 2-14-18 for service of water heater and immediately was denied coverage without any service tech assessing the situation. I then contacted Cindy ** on 12-15-18 who stated to appeal the claim. I then appealed the claim, and then a service company called and service stated that they could not come out until 12-18-18. At that time I stated I was a disable veteran and could not be without hot water for that period time. I then reached out to some veterans who then came in and replaced the water heater.

    I made a complaint with the BBB and stated what I was told by CHW. CHW then offered me $250.00 for repairs, but the actual amount for repairs was $654.70. Now I was told on 12-21-18 it would take 30 days to receive the $250.00. All this could have been avoided if CHW would have honored my warranty and sent out a service company to make the repairs. This is the second time I have had issues with CHW when it clearly states that this part is covered. A class action Lawsuit is needed to stop this foolishness.

    I have submitted 3 claims on my warranty in 2018. In February I could not get my wifi thermostat to work. In October several outlets in my kitchen stopped working. In both cases, I submitted a claim CHW scheduled an appointment without notice. The appointment came and went and no one showed up. In February I had my HVAC company fix the issue because CHW ended up closing the claim on me without notice. In October, they scheduled 3 different appointments, the first of which was with a company that did not work in my state, and the other two never showed up. CHW then closed my claim without notice. After 4 weeks of missed appointments, I refiled a new claim for the same issue and CHW did the same thing. All the while they auto-debited my card without my permission. With information from a one-time payment.

    This company is a complete scam. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I paid $41.38 every month the entire year of 2018 and CHW never once addressed any of the claims. I called to cancel and get a refund and they gave me a hard time about canceling and refused to issue any refund. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM.

    Let me start out with the only reason I gave them a star was because it’s required to post my review. Choice Home Warranty deserves no stars. Horrible customer service & fraudulent technicians. I canceled my policy because of out of the 3 claims I put in, I was only qualified for one to be fixed under the warranty. So as I was trying to cancel with customer service I was asked why & I said because I was wasting my money. As he was going through my policy history, they now wanted to compensate me half of the claims that weren’t approved. I still said no because it should had been covered when the claim was put in. He also mentioned that the plumber from the second claim came out, said the problem was fixed & billed Choice Home Warranty.

    I was told by the plumber that they needed to cut into my ceilings to access the problem & that’s wasn’t covered in my policy. So after we discussed situation further & showed him where I thought the problem was coming from, he checked it and said he didn’t think it was covered. But he would submit the claim. The claim he submitted was for job completed. I was told it was denied. As the customer service agent kept speaking it was just confirmation that I really needed to continue with the purpose I calling for. So I proceeded with the process.

    After days later I noticed my bank account was charged again by Choice Home Warranty. I called them & was put through the same guy who I canceled my policy with. He now wanted to tell me that he waived $50 fee & I wasn’t due a credit. Because he didn’t charge me the cancellation $50 fee. I asked him what does that have to do with charging me after I canceled my policy. He said it was cheaper than the cancellation fee. So if you’re looking for reputable home warranty company that will send out trustworthy & reliable technicians & won’t don’t just take your hard earned money stay away from Choice Home Warranty.

    I expected a repair or replacement of a like machine but was offered a cash offer to purchase another machine versus your company cost to repair or replace. The cash offer was a lower end average offer and told it would be a month to receive the check. I would have expected to receive the check within 5 to 10 business days since my machine went out of service 12/14 and waited till 12/16 for service review and paid $60 for a service call and had to then proceed to get a replacement machine.

    I had a claim on a washing machine and dishwasher that I opened in May of 2018. A specialist came out and took a look and they charged me the $60 and said they needed to get parts. They scheduled a date to come back so I took the day off work and no one showed up. I called and could not get a hold of an actual person. I was on hold for 45 minutes to an hour each time. In December of 2018 when it was time to renew I got MULTIPLE calls daily to renew but could not get my claim finalized. I finally got someone to schedule a new tech to come fix the issues and a date was scheduled and yet again no one showed up.

    Then they told me to give the tech the "benefit of the doubt" and scheduled him to come out again and HE NEVER SHOWED UP AGAIN! I was still getting calls to renew and through them I got them to forward me to someone to schedule yet another tech to come out. That one came and was nice and fixed the washer and said he needed to order parts for the dishwasher and I would get a call to schedule them to come out. I later got an email saying that they were not going to cover it. It took 7 months, 3 missed days of work and 3 techs to tell me they would not cover it. Do not waste your time and money with this company. Choose someone else!

    Be warned if you ever try to cancel this policy even if they told you you would get any amount back that was not used, that is not true. Per the email below from Sales Rep Barry ** I was told that I could cancel my policy at any time and receive the entire amount back that was unused. I have dealt with other home warranty companies and he assured me none of those issues would apply here. When I canceled my policy, not ONE of these charges were mentioned which totaled $782 in fees, but when I received the amount back it was only $268 for ten months of use after I paid $1050 for three years.

    Barry **'s email: "As oppose to taking it 1 year at a time. If you took the policy out for 3 years I can lower the rate down to $350.00 per year for 3 years. It would be a total of $1050.00. We would give you 6 Months free of coverage for FREE and the service call would go down from $60 to $45.00. The reason people like to go this way is because your rates are locked in for life so after the 3.6 years when you want to renew you can renew at $350.00 and a $45.00 service call fee for as long as you are with us. If you move or sell the home within the 3.6 years you can transfer the policy to any other home in the country, or to any new buyer of your home. This is also not a contract so if you wanted to cancel the policy at any time you can do so and get a refund for the time you didn't use. You can reach me at **."     I purchased a home in September of 2018, and had the home inspected and agreed to purchase a home warranty to cover possible issues which might arise. In November of 2018 the hot water went out and called to have repaired or replaced. I paid the required fee of 60.00 which was my portion and what I was told would be my total cost by the sales agent for coverage.

    I got a notice the water heater was not covered because it was apparently a tank issue. I would like to point out no one took any parts off the water, examined it internally or anything, just stated water tank irreparable. I got an email stating coverage denied due to water tank failure. I had 7 days to appeal, need to say I appealed immediately and was informed someone would contact me within 7 days. Guess what. No one called. Have been fighting with them ever since and had to pay 1134.00 dollars for a new water heater, and reported to BBB and NC DOJ to investigate. If need be will take this case to small claims if necessary. I don't know how they say water is covered yet deny every part of a water heater?

    I guess if necessary will let Judge decide. Oh and on a side note requested contact information to file case in NC so they could be served and they refused to provide name or address of representative in NC, said, "Serve us in NJ." I would strongly encourage everyone even considering purchasing a home warranty plan avoid Choice Home Warranty at all cost.

Responds they will send technicians that are not qualified to work on your appliances to get no results. Waited for 2 months for our washer to be repaired to find out they expected us to find our own technician to repair with parts that their own guy have ordered! They agreed to send us a check for repairs and parts but reneged on that deal. Our dishwasher is another claim that was handled by their technician. He installed wrong part.     Worst experience with a home warranty. My issue is still not resolved. I have been without hot water for 5 days. The first time ever using my warranty vendor refused the job for non payment by you. Your reps are very unprofessional. In all the calls I made there was only one that was able to give me the number to an actual vendor who came out and determined that I needed an electrician instead of a plumber. I'm still waiting two days later for one to accept the job. The only other option you offer is that I locate a vendor myself and pay them and then be reimbursed. I paid for this so I wouldn't have that headache of having to pay myself. You have breached this contract. I have not received service even as I write this.

    I had two properties covered by Choice. My first claim was the AC, tech came out, diagnosed it, Choice say it's not a covered component, OK, I'll pay to fix it. Next claim was on the other property, I found a hole in an AC duct, checked the coverage, definitely covered. Called it in, the tech came out, nice guy but of large stature, he couldn't get into a position to see the hole. He therefore and logically, called it in saying he needed to take some other ducts off to see the problem. I was there listening, that is exactly what he said.

    Choice immediately emailed me saying the claim was denied because the duct had collapsed. I emailed back saying that this cannot be correct. Ended up talking to a lady who said, I summarize, her word was law, there was no appeal, there was no opportunity for a second inspection (I even offered to pay for it). Ended up with the BBB, regrettably I was out of the country when they sent the second reply and did not respond in time so they closed it, but it definitely wasn't settled.

    So OK, they're a warranty company who don't like to pay claims. The pain really starts when your coverage ends and you do not renew, I'm getting 6 telemarketing calls a day, asking to go onto a 'no call' list means nothing, block them and they call from other numbers. Unsubscribing from their emails only encourages them. They are the worst sort of telemarketers. In short, don't buy a policy from them, they will try very hard to avoid paying a claim, and if you do not renew they will make your life miserable.

    I purchased a CHW on year contract in August 2018. In December 2018, the compressor in my heat pump went out. The claim was denied as CHW advised that it was not considered a wear and tear item and was ineligible under their contract. Based on CHW response, any repair could be determined as not eligible and a reason could be made that any covered appliance or system failed due to issues not considered normal wear and tear. This company is a waste and I cancelled the contract at a significant loss of the original cost and must now also pay for the repair already having paid for the service call on the issue. CHW was not only a waste of my money, but also a waste of my time. I would not recommend this company to any of my friends or neighbors nor any of my retired military or AARP members.

    I reported a claim for my furnace not working at 6:30 in the morning. It took 6 plus hours for a technician to contact me and he said he could come out the NEXT DAY. I told him that was unacceptable. He then said he would come out by 4pm. When he got there he said a part had to be replaced and he would see if he could locate it and get authorization to fix it. He called me after he left to say the part was not available and would have to be ordered. It could take 5 - 10 DAYS TO GET IT. Totally unacceptable. When I suggested replacement (suggested part would not have fixed the problem) he balked at that. I have a son recovering from surgery and going without heat in December is not an option. I ended up replacing my furnace at my own expenses and want to be reimbursed up to the amount allowed for my furnace. This is the worst experience I have encountered and I am finished with Choice Home Warranty.

    Charlie ** worked with me to set up an appliance insurance plan a month and a half ago to get insurance on all of my appliances that were roughly 5 years of age. Initially I was very happy as I got 6 years of INCREASED coverage for a good price (so I thought). From what I could read online on their webpage and what Charlie had mentioned in our conversations, I was made to believe I had a personalized account manager and appliance insurance company that would take care of all of my needs. After 32 days in the program, my washing machine started to leak... Still worked but had a small leak. I was upset at first but realized this would fall under the program... I filed a claim with Charlie ** and he again seemed to be trustworthy as he made no mention of any issues with the claim. A serviceman was scheduled and my policy fee of $60 for the service call was paid in addition to the nearly $2,000 for 6 years of coverage.

    As the serviceman came to the house, I mentioned where the leak was coming from. Without pulling any panels or pulling the machine out to look at it, he told me I had a bad transmission and seals needed to be replaced. Amazing that he knew this without looking at anything. Literally, just took a picture of the make and model sticker inside the unit. The next day I got an email stating that Choice Home Warranty would not process the claim due to the timing of the repair... Again the machine had a leak 32 days into the insurance plan, 30 days was the minimum before a claim could be made. They stated the break had to have happened before my policy went into effect... This is not true, and I do not appreciate a company lying about their coverage then have the audacity to attack my character. My insurance coverage was live and I should be able to use it as intended.

    What is the point of getting insurance coverage with a company and not being able to use it?! They are so quick to take your money but then when it comes time to use your service they pick and choose what they want to pay for. After complaining about this to "resolutions department" he tried to tell me that they would put $299 towards my repair... This repairman told us that the cost of this repair was about the cost of a new unit (if that's even what needs to be repaired). This company is not trustworthy! They went back on their word because they just do not want to pay for the unit/repair. I have canceled my policy and will be taking it to AS MANY review outlets and through "word of mouth" as possible in an effort to help others avoid this SCAM. I will also be reaching out to the BBB. They should be helping people however they are only hurting people and going back on their word when it comes time to actually use your insurance.

    Purchased their total plan. After 36 days, a minor clog in the DW resulted in a man coming out to take an additional $75 and tell me what I already knew by the error code: it was clogged. Choice denied the claim, stating it was not cover under their total plan, and attempted to say it was preexisting. Clogs are the most minor repair out there, yet they fight EVERY claim they can. Now we sit in the BBB/ConsumerAffairs complaint line for months, which is what Choice wants. They are willing a pay a part of it, IF I say it is a non-covered claimed and they can reduce the damage to their reputation. I will not, they need to follow their contract, yet they will attempt to fight everything as neighbors told me. Don't give up, fight them, then get rid of them. Post for years to follow, so as to protect other consumers.

    Unfortunately I signed a multiyear contract with Choice Home Warranty for multiple properties. I have had nothing but issues getting coverage, including non-covered items, only providing a small amount of reimbursement for older appliances that cannot be repaired, contractors that refuse to work with Choice, and even not backing up reimbursement rates that they quoted me over the phone. Recently I had two ceiling fans that needed replaced. Choice sent two contractors out that could not do the job and the 3rd refused to work with Choice and I had to go through a self reimbursement process to get the job done. Once I received the reimbursement amount I was shocked. The amount wasn't even a third of what I had to spend. I have made numerous claims on different properties and have not been happy with any of the results. You can make your own decision but I will never think about putting any of my properties under Choice in the future.

    I understand when technicians/ contractors for Choice get busy, but they need to call the customer and inform them of any delay or reappointment time so the customer is not sitting and waiting--as I did for two days/ over eight hours. The contractor to fix the garage door opener finally came, and I just happened to be at home. It's called a cell phone--need to be used. Just good business and plain courtesy.     Let me began by saying, I thought I was pretty good about reading reviews on companies, however, it's amazing the bad reviews are not noticed until you are already under contract. I submitted my request Dec 8th-2018 for heater issues. Technician came out same day, great... called at 2:30 pm, said he arrive at 3-3:30 pm great, didn't arrive until 5 pm, no phone call. Hit reset button, never doing a thorough check of our furnace, not checking electrical box, wires nothing. All these technicians want to do is collect $60.

    Technician indicated two parts are needed and said we will start there (really). Submitted report and of course CHOICE denied our claim. Submitted appeal 12/9 and was told someone would call back in 4 hours... NOT TRUE. NO heat and just received a call 12/11. Claim manager was HELPLESS, indicating that technician said our furnace was poorly maintenance. Not true just service and have paperwork to prove it. Now still no heat and have to wait for them to contact CHOICE with pics.

    On top of that technician says, I have customers that report claims for appliances and when I get their they have none and CHOICE sends them a check. So that tells me you have some shady crooked business going on and then tells me he is 2 years from becoming a lawyer. I informed CHOICE I do not want this technician back at my home period. I will never used them again and would recommend that you review all your options and read Consumer Affairs reviews before obtaining any contract. I will be contacting the BBB today. Totally dissatisfied. Unacceptable how businesses use working people and senior citizens!!! If I could have selected no stars to show how dissatisfied I am with these crooks I would. On Oct 22nd he called Choice Home Warranty to report his HEAT not working. There has been 3 different repair companies out YET as of tonight (51 NIGHTS) l still have NO HEAT! He has made multiple phone calls. Anybody care to GUESS how many of those NIGHTS it's been BELOW FREEZING!!! His kids and wife are sick due to NO HEAT.     Drain was not working correctly and I called it in. Choice found a plumber that day (Sunday) who took the job. They arrived the next morning by 830 and took care of it. It turned out to be a big deal and required professional attention.

    Had a leaky tub repaired by Choice Warranty vendor plumber. Plumber assessed job. Said $650 for labor and client must provide faucet, etc. Choice and plumbing service said labor covered not parts, however they only paid $200 of $650 labor charge and have been playing games ever since including so called dedicated manager Centrelle who does not return calls, useless and liar!!! Avoid this company. You'll do better vendors yourself.

    My wife took out a contract with Choice 18 Months ago. They have denied every claim except a small problem with a tap. They either claim it's 'a bad installation' or some other reason why a problem is not covered. Avoid at all costs.

    Such scammers. STAY AWAY. Tried to put in claim twice. Both times it was denied because it's not covered although when the salesman sold me this service I specifically asked if my heating/cooling units are covered. Even gave him the model/make numbers. It took forever for them to make a decision to deny the claim. I left a message for the claims manager. She responded to me 4 days letter. Read the fine print before purchasing any of it.

    One cold evening at about 10pm I realized my water heater had stopped working. I called Choice Home Warranty around 11pm that evening and within 12 hours I had a repairman at my house assessing and repairing the issue! Being a family of 6 with 4 children in the house it’s crucial to have hot water so thank you so much for your timely response and quick repair to our water heating system!     Updated 12/14/2018 : This is in response to CHW saying they resolved my claim. Here is the situation - water heater burned up around thermostat, filed claim, service person came out and inspected damage. He stated he had to get approval for repair but noted unit was beyond repair and would need replacement. He also stated CHW does not replace appliances, that same day claim was denied due to exclusions. CHW offered $100 for me to repair water heater, the quote given me by the service person was $1200.

    I explained to CHW that $100 did not cover repairs or replacement, CHW then offered $200 stating they did not cover this type of damage (?), told them this was unacceptable. 4 day have now gone by boiling water on the stove so we could bathe. I have since installed a replacement water heater. Yes, CHW has this listed as 'resolved' - it is far from that as this is their third instance of refusing a claim due to exclusions. They advertise that if it cant be repaired it will be replaced. They did neither.

    Original review: Been trying to work with these people for several years. Kept renewing my contract in hopes if something broke I could get it repaired on my limited budget. My last claim was for the water heater, it had an electrical short and burned up the regulator and thermostat rendering the unit unrepairable. They denied the replacement since a simple repair of the thermostat would 'fix' the problem. I explained to the adjuster that the insulation and body of the unit had been damaged.

    And when the plumber inspected the unit he even said he would not replace the thermostat as there was no way to ensure it to work properly let alone fit back into the damaged area. "Doesn't matter" they said, "only thing we do is repair." This is the same story I've gotten before. Refrigerator is broken - "we don't fix that part", (ice maker, door gasket) - leaky faucet - "we don't fix those" (it was the shower). In other words if it's broke, you fix it. "We are here to help" NEVER. 3rd strike - you're out!

    Choice Home Warranty is very good. They had someone to my home the very day after I called. The repairman found the problem but has to wait for authorization for how much he can spend on the necessary parts. Unfortunately that was Friday so we need to wait till Monday for the work to be completed, it is okay though as we live in a warm climate and normally just use our fireplace to heat our home.

    I could fill this space with the terrible service they provide. They are a fraud. They lie. While they say they will replace an appliance etc., they do not. They try to buy you out at absurd price. They are so bad. I got American Home Shield a year ago. I tried using them a week ago and they screwed up twice. I am finally going to cancel even though I will get a pittance returned on my 5 year contract. Beware, they are absolutely terrible.
