    I had wanted to know a bit about the warranty, and was immediately called and the agent quickly got me to sign up. I opted for monthly to pay, as I wasn't prepared to pay for a year. He quickly got my payment, then told me about how much I would have saved since I was over 55 and could have paid for 3 years for a lot less. If I would have had a day or so to think about it, I probably would have, but he got my info quickly, and by then I was already sorry I answered the call.

    I've been with Choice Warranty for four years. I just made a claim on yesterday & a technician called back and was able to come on yesterday and replace the appliance.     The contract states that they cover hot water heaters. Ours was leaking and the technician determined it needed to be replaced. After waiting almost a week, they sent me an e-mail with the following: "Please refer to your terms and conditions section D number 6 “Excluded”; CHW is not responsible for main, holding or storage tanks." I had seen that but figured it was some other type of tank. If they had put in the contract that they don't cover the hot water heater tank, I probably would not have signed up! The only good news is that I only signed up for one year and did not go with the 5-year plan the salesperson kept pushing. What a bunch of low-lifes!

He said he had to ask, and he came back and said geothermal units were covered. While my unit is working fine, it is the most expensive part of my home to repair. When I read my policy, it said that geothermal units were excluded. This is not okay.

    DO NOT USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!! They do not cover anything! My freezer went out and the technician lied and said it was a freon leak. I knew it wasn't because it's a subzero and very expensive. I asked for a 2nd opinion and they wanted me to use a technician from their provider list. I don't trust liars so I got my own. It was not a leak! I had my technician fix the problem for $335. I was asked to submit the invoice and sure enough Not covered. What a JOKE!!! Liars and they do not stand behind the service.     Our initial call was on Thursday morning for a bad GCFI outlet making a terrible clicking noise every 15 minutes. The original tech was scheduled for Friday 3-8pm. I called the tech at 7pm and he said he had problems with his vehicle and asked it was OK to come out the next morning approximately 8-9 am. He never showed. I then called Choice at 11am and spoke with a claims rep. She tried contacting the tech and was unable to and asked that I give her a couple hours to get back to me.

    At 4:30 (Central time) I tried calling the agent back only to learn that they were gone for the day. I then called the technician, he said that he had lost his phone and that's why he wasn't reachable. He offered to be onsite in 90 minutes and never showed up. Yesterday morning (Sunday), I submitted the experience on the website and a new dispatch was set up for Wednesday. Kirk, the tech from the new company (Midwest Electric) called about an hour later and offered to show up the same day (about 90 minutes later). He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, punctual and was able to fix the issue in about an hour! If I have any future electrical issues, I will be requesting his services. He went the extra mile to get us taken care of.

    I transferred from American Home Shield to Choice Warranty in February 2019. My furnace broke down the end of February and they said it was a pre-existing condition. I had to prove my furnace was working when I signed up. First I could have had AHS fix my furnace before I transferred over to them. Why would I wait 23 days without any heat when I could have had the other company fix my furnace. Also I just paid $530 for oil just the week before. When I asked the manager, "Would you pay $530 in oil for a broken furnace, also wouldn't you have the other company fix the furnace if it was broke."

    They refuse to answer either question because that would prove my furnace was not broke. I sent copies of receipts proving this. I was advised what was wrong with my furnace takes 15 to 20 years to go down. I said, "Maybe and that time was up February 2019." They just didn't want to pay to get my furnace fixed because it broke down so soon after transferring over to them. Do not buy from this company.

    Multiple claims have all been denied and each was denied because of improper maintenance. Most outrageous was when a claim was denied on a hose that connected the cold water to the hot water system. How can a hose be maintained improperly? Choice Home Warranty has cheated customers in the past and I believe that they continue doing so. Beware of this company and do your research.

    I had scheduled for AC Service repair on Saturday morning and the Choice representative confirmed 4-24 hrs turnaround time. I requested for urgent help as AC unit was not cooling as room temperature was in high 80s, because of Houston heat. To my dismay, the dispatch unit was completely poor as they didn't contact till Saturday evening and when I contacted them at around 4:40 pm, the dispatch person simply texted back that he can't take the call as he is with his children. I asked for help as it was an emergency and he simply responded that he can't help today as Choice Home Warranty company delayed things at their end to notify him.

    I asked him if he can help next day, and he simply responded to wait till Monday (i.e. 2 more days) as Choice allows them to address issues in 2 business days that doesn't include weekends and didn't bother to address the issue. I had to get help from outside as he stopped responding after that. Finally I texted him back as other service providers treat AC repairs in Houston as urgent and they addressed it within 1 hr, and this guy was prompt to cancel my request within 2 min. Basically, they are fine to cancel the work on same day but not address the issue till 2 days later. Hopefully you don't face such situation, and if you do then hopefully you have a better service provider. Not sure what is the use of having a warranty when eventually you have to pay outside vendors for help.

    I purchased a policy from them, then went to use it a few weeks later. My dryer wasn't heating right and they said a service person would call within 24 hours. I use my dryer about every 3 weeks. Was told it wasn't covered as the last time I used the dryer was the 5th and the policy didn't start until the 16th, it was the 21st. They did not honor the policy, thus they broke the contract. They charged me $96.67 to cancel and it was the company that didn't honor the contract. How many people check their dryer every day to make sure it's heating and working properly? Would never recommend this company to anyone.

    What started as an A/C issue in October turned into a Heat Issue through January because of unreliable, unprofessional HVAC vendors. After 3 months of patience and understanding (and 3 different technicians not coming when they said they would or not communicating at all) my family was left to contact our own HVAC company when the weather dropped below freezing. Even though our unit runs constantly (which isn't cheap) our home only was getting up to 50-60 degrees. But, since there was nothing "broke" there was nothing to "fix" so I have been told by the highest manager at CHW (who will not give me his last name or email address) that there is nothing they can do to help.

    All of the customer service reps that I have spoken with have been helpful and understanding and very professional, but the manager I spoke with was condescending and rude. Would have been frustrating to hear at any point, but was especially upsetting because of the circumstances leading up to that "decision". This was our first time using the Warranty Company and we are very disappointed (and cold) to say the least.

    We have called 3 times for the same issue with our washing machine. F-11 error code. 2 service men came out and the last one serviceman from Sears stated we should hear back from Choice as to what they will do about our washer but never heard back. We waited 4 weeks and decided to call in another service request in which we had to pay another trip charge which is totally unacceptable. After complaining we were offered a zero charge on any future service request because our complaint. So what if we do not have a future service request before our contract expires? This is crazy.

    Twice I have called Choice Home Warranty about an appliance problem. The first time the technician they sent was unable to fix the problem I had with my ceiling fan and I was eventually told that the problem I had was not covered and I had to pay the 60 dollar fee and the problem was never fixed. I called them this past week about my dishwasher and the technician told me they may once again not covered. You should not advertise something when in reality it's not. I will certainly not be renewing when my contract is up.

    I know this is to rate Choice Warranty but I need to express my concerns with service company. The AC Company (Air Time) charged me $150.00 to program my new WIFI thermostat because it was not done completely by my husband BUT they only programmed the AC portion. Technician could not program the heat portion & he was getting frustrated. He had the manual instructions on his cell phone (we had thrown packaging away) but he didn't understand the WIFI system... He said he was old school & advises people not to get WIFI thermostats. I paid the entire $150 charge but I feel I should of only paid for half since they only did half the job. My husband fixed it within 5 minutes after they left. In the future I hope Choice Warranty uses Companies that who have technicians that are more advanced in today's technology.

    Choice was unable to find a tech in a reasonable time frame. They allowed us to find our own tech. We were under the impression they would reimburse, but found out later that it is only a fraction of the cost that they reimburse. This is in the fine print of the contract. Our error.     While I have been very satisfied with the service I received throughout the year, I am very disappointed with your renewal process. My contract does not expire until mid-March 2019. However, I have been receiving emails and calls since November 2018. I understand marketing but when you get call after call, sometimes on the same day, it is frustrating. In addition, when I was going through the renewal process today (March 8th), the representative was pressuring me to sign up for a long-term commitment. I told him numerous times that I was not interested. When I finally told him I only wanted to renew for one year or I would go elsewhere, he basically hung up on me. In the end, you have a good product. Don't ruin it with cheap solicitation tactics.

    Today I received a phone call from CHW because of an email inquiry I submitted last night. I wanted to transfer coverage from a home that I sold in September 2018 to a new property and request a refund since I was not using the service from October 2018 until now. The customer service that I received today was horrible and completely unprofessional. The representatives spoke to me as if I were not a valued customer, my business was not wanted and they failed to even try to resolve one of my issues. I have had AHS on my rental property for the past 16 years and not once have I experienced the level of unprofessionalism that I received today. I was shocked and appalled.     I own three houses and have warranty on all of them, every time I have an issue the answer is: This item is not covered! The technician came in and he said the gas valve is not covered and he wants to charge me $600 to replace it but he recommended to replace the whole unit for $5,500.     I bought 3 years coverage the highest one they sell. But came to know only later even basic things are not covered. When I signed up I was told everything is covered. I was specifically told that AC/heating all are covered. The 2 claims I submitted were rejected saying it was not covered. It is when I tried to cancel the policy, I was told I will not be getting any money back because there is penalty for cancellation and there are some complex things they calculate, so I might end up paying them to cancel the policy. Wow wouldn't that be fun.

    Make sure you read the fine print and things you might expect are covered plus make sure the cancellation penalty and anything other fishy stuff they have in the contract, otherwise it is the money you throw in the trash. In my experience I have seen only companies which want to screw customers would have a cancellation fee while they can't even provide a service which they promise.

    I have had Choice Warranty for 5 years and do not call them very often. Every time I do, it takes days for a technician to come out, and they usually misdiagnose the problem all in Choice Warranty's favor so they don't have to pay. I called for a plumber. I KNEW my main drain was clogged. Plumber came and said it was a septic issue. Called another plumber and it was indeed the main drain. I couldn't want for Choice to fix it as you need to be able to use a toilet in your house. Had an issue with my water heater, the tech popped the control panel, said the wires were burned and that I needed to replace the water heater. Choice denied my claim saying there was sediment build up and it is not covered. This water heater is about 13 years old, they don't consider normal wear and tear? I did appeal the decision and they sent me a $500 check to help with the replacement.

    HVAC went out and they are trying to say it was due to an "electrical" surge. Total BS. My husband has been an HVAC technician for 30 years and never had an electric surge happen that caused an HVAC to burn out. Many other reasons but not a surge. Now I have to get an attorney involved and file a BBB complaint because they want to find outrageous reasons to deny your claim. To boot, husband had knee replacement surgery so we have been home for weeks, no surge ever, no tripped breakers. They think they can just make up reasons to deny a claim.

    Fraudsters. They literally don't cover anything even under their total plan. Everything that can go bad is excluded. I will recommend to buy some other home warranty besides Choice Home. They keep calling every day when the renewal time comes even after telling them to don't call me. And when you are renewed, they will give you hard time with claims and deny everything that you need.     While I signed up the contract with Choice sometime in January, they didn't tell me any of these catches but told me that all the appliances included in the package are covered with no tags attached. The sales rep didn't even talk about reviewing the terms and conditions before a formal sign up and now I hear that this or that is not covered per the fine prints in the contract terms which amounts to nothing but cheating on the customer and unfair business practices.

    Had a water leakage issue with my water heater which started flooding my basement. When I contacted, sent a technician the next day and made me pay the $60 service call charges to the attendant technician. The technician said he needs to talk to CHOICE on possible repair options and calls me in an hour that the CHOICE is not going to do the repairs as the water heater is too old (about 10 years old) with no standing warranty. They in turn offered me a $100 discount on the overall cost of replacing it with a new one by them.

    When I questioned the CHOICE HW about the same, the respective claims manager for my case says that it cannot be repaired per warranty terms and per the technician's report and offers me a $200 coverage to cover for my repair expenses which is not even 10% of total estimated repair costs. If they are fair, I don't understand why do they play such customer soothing tactics to still retain the customer on a contract cancellation request by offering such amounts. And to my surprise, though the service contract came into effect only for a couple of days (not even months or weeks), they say it could be cancelled at my will but a one month fee would still be deducted from the total amount that I paid to the company at the time of signup. So, this is like a waste of $60 service call fee for the useless tech visit and a shave of one month fee for cancellation of the contract.

    The technician arrived on time and changed the gas valve but refused to let me keep the one he took out indicating that he was required to take those back. He also refused to check the automatic cycle mechanism indicating that he did not recommend using that cycle as he felt that it would take longer to dry the clothes. He also had me pay him the deductible up front as he said it was company policy. He noted that the dryer exhaust was too long and the it should vent directly outside which would be impossible for us to do. He also indicated that the hose needed to be cleaned out at least once a year and that we would need to hire someone to do that. I am dissatisfied with the service mainly because he did not address the automatic cycle mechanism issue which was one of my stated concerns.

    Company Supervisor. Your company came recommended by a friend although we were considering another company. At this point we are NOT HAPPY and will ending our business with your company and going without initial choice for the below reasons: 1 March 2019 evening I contacted your office to report our water heater component was broken and requested service repair/replacement. Unbeknown to me, your customer service rep closed my request to repair citing 'not covered' but FAILED to inform me, the customer.

Realize that we are experiencing the Polar Vortex freeze and cannot survive without hot water. For your employee to close my initial claim without informing me is unacceptable and wreckless.

    2 March 2019 we finally received (late aafternoon) notification that we were scheduled for the service call on 4 March. I made arrangements to take a leave day from my employment to accommodate. On 3 March 2019 I received notification our appoint was moved to 5 March 2019. Again, this is NOT acceptable. This is our first experience with your company and it has included wreckless behaviour from the initial cust rep, denial of coverage, 2-day waiting period during a time repair was crucial, and finally reschedule and further extended repair time. This problem was mis-handled from my first call.

    Since getting this warranty, it's been an uphill battle to get you guys to pay for items. Most recently was my freezer repair. I called on a Monday. I did not get service till Friday. I was initially offered $349.99 to replace the freezer. The amount is about half the cost to get another freezer. I've since been offered $500 which is still insufficient. My understanding when I got the warranty was the freezer would be replaced if it couldn't be fixed. The agent that offered the $500 was rude as ever. I will not renew this warranty. It was a waste of my money.

    The contact phone # provided by CHW for the contractor was for a U-Haul company - so, I was unable to communicate with the contractor until they arrived at my house. The repair exceeded what CHW was willing to provide, so CHW opted that It is more cost effective to replace your Oven Stove Cooktop than to repair it...and offered me only half what my range was worth (I had a Kenmore priced at $600). When I was contacted by a case manager, I asked her how they came about the value of my range - they didn't figure the oven capacity or the features at all (I know you don't match brands). She then graciously offered 75% the value of my oven (out of the blue) - why wasn't the first offer? And asked if this would be okay, as if I had a choice?

    So now I have to replace my oven with your offer + another $100 out of my own pocket in order to match the same features of the oven that was covered. Here's my choice...I am already committed to CHW until summer of next year (unfortunately, I have JUST renewed my contract for 14 months...yaayy!), not renewing this contract again after that. I had just recommended CHW to 2 friends this past week - I let them see how CHW treated this claim, and they have both decided to go with a different home warranty company. Can't blame them - so will I next year.

    Terrible experience. Hopefully home warranty buyers will read this review and reconsider their decision with this company. I personally don't recommend them. My AC broke and has been diagnosed for low on refrigerant. The company responded saying that they don't cover the leak test and usually the leak is from corrosion or rust which HW also doesn't cover. If corrosion or rust is not covered why am I getting the warranty right? Anyway I had done the leak test and found out it was leaking from the valves at the condenser. They responded this time saying that the valve is an effective maintenance item and failure to keep up the maintenance per the manufacturer results this issue and they don't cover. :)

    They are doing everything to not cover the issue. The cost for the repair is $1900. They offered me $400 max to help with the repair. Now I am thinking if I should fight and and take it to the court or take the $400 and be done with them. I got the system repaired and was able to finance it 18 months with no interest which helped me a lot. I would not consider any home warranty company at all for any repairs. The appliances are cheap and all sellers offer financing, if something breaks just replace it and don't stress yourself with these potholes.

    The whole point of paying for a home warranty plan is to help with repairs or replacement of an item when it fails. Our gas water heater needed to be re-lit every once in a while and several weeks ago, the pilot light was going out almost every day for a week. Finally, we could not get it lit and filed a claim CHW. They couldn't find anyone to come out (just like an electrical problem we had previously - we had to find our own electrician) so we called our plumber who came out to check it. He said it needed to be replaced and there was a very small amount of water under the heating coil and the coil itself was damp. This was a 19 year old water heater. Once he told CHW there was water, they said they don't cover the water tank itself and they don't cover any repairs due to leakage. What is the point of having the policy if they don't cover the replacement when needed? We are out $1,100 and will be canceling the policy asap.

    When I decided to go with Choice Home Warranty after being with another for 7 years I specifically asked if they cover Salt Water Pool systems. The individual stated they did. But after paying for a year upfront I have found that they only cover the pump motor and nothing else. The previous warranty covered it all. Since I use the same company for keeping my pool clean and running efficiently I will take a look around at the end of my contract based on how well CHW meets my needs based on their contract.

    Buyer Beware. My first and only claim was denied because it was probably seen as a high dollars expense for CHW. My claim was for my air conditioning unit that was not working. The tech sent by CHW was good and he identified it as probably a faulty evaporator coil. He needed approval from CHW but told me not to hold my breath as CHW are known to find reasons for not honoring the claim. He showed me the report. CHW informed me that there was a slight rust and denied the claim. Subsequently another company informed me there was no rust. The claims manager was adamant and not very friendly.     I called Wednesday at 5PM. Finally got the girl to submit a claim. When I received the email to confirm the claim had been dispatched the address had PIney Flats as the city. I immediately called back and got someone who could look it up & said it went out with the proper address. I was contacted by a company & the schedule was to come Monday between 3-8PM was totally unacceptable for a leaking water heater.     I have been a customer for about 2 years. I called for service a few times to repair my ceiling fan. Never heard from the technician after the first phone call. It's still broken. My stove needed to be repaired. The guys come, 2 weeks later it broke again. Next service call, my water tank was leaking, the guy comes to see it and reported the problem. Like previous times, they informed me that Choice would not cover certain parts so that I will have to contact my own service. There is always something in the long contract agreement that they get away with. I can go on and on about these issues.     I had a contract with this company for approximately 5 years. I tried cancelling the contract several times beginning in 2016. When I spoke to anyone, I told them that their service was horrible. They sent out non professionals to do the work. The small print in their contract shows, they basically cover nothing that would break or need to be fixed or replaced!

    I spoke to several people and told them to cancel the policy, they told me I needed to speak to the next level of service they would connect me. They would disconnect the call! This happened every time! So I emailed them! No response, the emails were returned! I then put a stop payment on them with my bank. After approximately five months, I never heard a word from them, however, I did keep the stop payment with my bank since January of 2017. They did intermittently try to debit funds from my account, different amounts. There was absolutely no contact from them! I never contacted them, since as far as I was concerned the policy was not in effect.

    After two years, a company who was professional or actually reputable, would have reached out to me in writing to advise that my contract was cancelled due to non-payment, that my account was in arrears. Never heard a word! Last week, the company debited over $800 from my account without authorization. (The bank apparently removed the stop payment since there were no direct debits from the company in two years.) I called and spoke to an Ally at Choice Home Warranty and explained all of this to her. She contacted billing and then told me that the policy would be cancelled. I then receive an email in response to mine, that they cancelled said contract that they would not be issuing a refund because I owed them this money!!!

    As stated, a reputable company would have cancelled me a long time ago for not paying for two years! Ally admitted that she could see that I did not use their services. This company is a hoax and should not be used ever. The two times I contacted them, they sent out people that I was afraid to allow in my home! I am more than sure they were unlicensed as well! The last contractor told me he was from Jamaica and did not have a license he could produce for me. And to boot, the problems with the ice maker and the oven, of course were not covered!! A waste of money!!! Do not be taken by this so called reputable company!

    The multi-year policy I bought included a limited roof repair. When I tried to use the policy it became apparent my tile roof was not covered at all by the roof repair...only shingled roofs are covered. Why wouldn't the salesman know this before offering it? I live in the desert so it should have been obvious. Subsequent calls to the Sales and Resolution departments got me nowhere. My calls were never returned and a Resolutions Manager who was supposed to call me within 72 hours never returned the escalated request. Removing the limited roof repair from my contract did not reduce the cost to me for the 3 year plan.     It took more than 2 weeks to get an authorization to repair after you sent out 23 different repair men. 2 appliance, 1 plumber. And when the man came out and confirmed the leak was a bad valve instead of calling and getting authorization and making the repair on the spot he called later and now another day has gone by and I have not gotten a call when the stove will be fixed. 3 separate claims unacceptable for a $30 part.     I chose Choice Warranty as a first time homeowner. As my year contract comes to a end I have not had one thing on my work orders repair or fix.     Updated on 03/03/2019: This is my 3rd complaint for what was an overheating issue now a non working furnace in the middle of Winter in Chicago! Service was called on Thursday February 21, 2019. Today is March 3, 2019 and the issue is still not fixed! This is extremely frustrating as I am 37 weeks pregnant with a 23 month old toddler at the house! The current temperature in our home is 59 degree!!! The service company assigned to fix the problem has not fix the issue! They initially came out and said it was a filter issue, then rescheduled for another appt because they did not have the missing parts on hand.

    They came out days later and fix a switch issue, which again did not fix the problem. Now it’s the blower motor and we have to wait for parts to arrive. The next scheduled appointment is Monday. As mentioned above the initial call was made on February 21 and today is March 3rd and we still do not have heat in the house! I would like to speak to a supervisor on duty to get this resolve immediately as temperature at night in Chicago reaches single to negative number! We have no heat!!!

    So I attempted to submit a claim for a Hot Water Heater because mine started leaking all over the house. I submit the claim online. Got denied because the Hot Water Heater Tank is not covered. Well the only way to repair a “tank” is replace the whole unit. Well they state since the “tank” is not covered under section D of the clause I do not have coverage... So when I asked how come it states black and white my in my contract HOT WATER heater covered it's actually not. The only components covered are the heating ELEMENT and pilot light assembly. The “tank” is not covered. But last I knew when something states HOT WATER heater it includes the tank since you can't separate the two!! Watch out for these thieves.

They will say anything to keep you from canceling. I bought a six year policy, had it for 11 months, they paid one 75.00 claim. I canceled after 11 months and only got back $1400.00. They kept $1,000 for doing almost nothing. They also lied and said I had 5 year contract in order to keep more of my money!     In numerous years I’ve had a grand total of 2 claims that cover multiple properties. The first they claim they don’t cover because it was most likely going bad prior to us buying the coverage. What?!? Eventually, after multiple phone calls and arguments they did cover it. It took about 2 weeks to handle a minor problem. Recently, our hot water heater went, took a week for someone to come out because all the companies they tried to book wouldn’t work with them due to payment issues, finally one comes out tells us he is reporting it needs replacing and should be covered. They claim not covered because they do NOT cover tanks. I’ve been told by other companies like AHW and 2-10 are great. Go with them. Do not flush your hard earned money with a company that will come up with any excuse not to cover it. Scam!!
