It was recommended that my dishwasher be replaced by you, but then you stated we will only pay you a percentage of the cost of replacing the item. My words were misrepresented by your case manager and your company allowed this to happen. I would not recommend you to anyone to get coverage.

I called to report a problem with my air conditioner not cooling properly. I made the call on the morning of 4-24-2019 and Choice Home Warranty set a appointment for that afternoon. The service technician called before arriving as discussed and promptly found and fixed my problem the same day. Thanks.

Toilet leaking - He was on time, very polite, clean, very professional.. you always send great workers when you can get them. The job was done in two bathrooms. He work Clean And when he finished he cleaned up after himself. Good job!!!! He worked fast but everything cam out awesome????

Dishwasher and refrigerator - The service was done quick and problem solved. The technician found the problem really fast and explained everything . At this point I would recommend this warranty. Dishwasher was diagnosed and parts arrived fast and appointment to fix was just in two days.

CHW is the worse company. They never pay and replace. I would like to see my comments because I don't believe it will be post in this site. My comments is negative and I already complained to BBB. There are many people like me have the same issue.

My A/C unit wasn't cooling the house. The air coming out was warm. He is a very professional gentleman. The job was done quickly. He called the morning to inform me he was coming today. He arrived on time and it took him less than 30 minutes to fix the problem. Great job!

It was great. I called and placed a request for a AC repair. We got a call from an AC place within 1 hr and they were out that afternoon. Our AC was fixed same day. We really liked the company they sent out and asked them to do our AC mainlanders.

My tenant's AC has been out since 4/12 and they are still working on my claim after they had opened up 4 other policies under my name!!! They have caused me lot of stress!! I will Never buy this warranty again!!!

Disposal wasn't grinding the food. Plumber came and got it working again. Left the tenant with a tool to use the next time it happens. Thought this was very nice of him to give the tenant instructions. MK Plumbing has picked up tickets before and has done a great job.

While the request for service was prompt and a really good technician showed up on time it has been 24 hours with no decision on fixing my AC. It’s hot in Florida! I would have expected a decision by now.

I called for service because the main drain to my house was clogged. One hour later the repair woman was at my house. She snaked the drain. It took about an hour. In two hours from the time I called my drain was cleared. You cannot ask for better service than that. Thank you, this was the fastest repair service I have ever received.

CHW was unable to find a plumber in the area to repair a toilet & advised me to find my own plumber. I did so & when the plumber arrived, we waited on hold for over 20 minutes for someone to authorize the claim. Since the toilet was on a recall list, they were unable to authorize a repair & told me to contact Kohler directly. Kohler referred me to the company that was handling recall claims to try and get some type of reimbursement. Meanwhile...toilet still didn’t work so I paid for a replacement toilet myself. CHW is not worth the price of the insurance & I will not renew.

Choice said that the average cost of a new dishwasher was $179,00 which is ridiculous. They advertise that if they can't fix the appliance, they will replace it with one exactly like it. They are always paying far less than they should on a claim.

The salesman lied, when asked specifically about hose bibs he said, yes they are covered. I asked two times and both times yes, covered. In reviewing the policy this morning, less than 24 hours later, the hose bibs are clearly excluded. This is not a company I want to do business with or refer my real estate clients to. I am a real estate broker in Michigan and Florida and you are now off.

We had an air conditioner pump fail. Called Choice in the morning & the HVAC company was there before noon. The AC needed another repair after that & they came out right away & fixed it. Very professional, fast & friendly. We are very pleased with Choice. Thanks.

Contacted CHW on a Saturday. Monday morning I had a service tech at my house. He showed up on time. He figured out what had to be repaired. CHW contacted me and said they would replace the unit instead of repairing it.

I was offered $599.99 for a new double wall oven which starts at $1500.00 and up. I was told by my case worker that I could find one for $599.99. Well that's not so, I have spent two days so far searching for one and to no avail have I found one. If someone knows where I can purchase one for the price that the case worker offered, please let me know.

I filed a claim for a water heater replacement on April 22, 2019. I specifically asked and was told the water heater was covered. Not so true. The CHW was unable to find a plumber to accept the call. I chose to arrange my own and get reimbursed. The plumber called in for approval with the cost and CHW would get back with me on the decision. The claim was denied related to item D6. Item D6 is below. The heater was 17 years old and rusted out. I did appeal on April 23, 2019. No luck. I don't understand how CHW can list water heater replacement on the items they approve/cover and the ~15 exclusion including the water tank they don't. I am an adult who didn't do enough research. Take heed to my loss. BTW I'm out 1614.12. I could have replaced it myself for 400.00. I will not renew and will not give recommendations for this company.

Electric out in part of house. No power in bedroom or hall. No power in guest bedroom or hall. Turns out it was a bad outlet in guest bedroom. Not much more I can say. It was a isolated problem. Could not figure it out on my own.

I had my pool pump quit on me yesterday. I submitted a claim online and within 3 hrs I had the pool tech here. He fixed the problem and we were back working again. Fast service, but I have to say, he was in my area and could get to me within an hour of being notified. My other experiences have been very good, also.

This is the 3rd time in a year I've needed Choice Warranty. Last year my fridge quit cooling. Trained repairman had my 12 year old fridge cooling. Also, my old dryer quit. Trained repairman replaced belt, pulleys and rollers. Two days ago agitator quit on washing machine. Again, Choice was on the ball. Their repairman fixed it in 15 minutes. I have nothing but praise and thanks for Choice Home Warranty. I have compared several companies and will have Choice as long as I own a home.

Thanks for the service. Technician was informative, helpful and professional from Jeff’s Plumbing. He cleaned up afterwards as well. I would only suggest next time he ask ahead of time for a towel for cleanup. I messed up a brand new towel to clean up water because it happens to be the closest thing to grab and protect my wood floors.

I've had an account with Choice Home Warranty for a couple of years and called them to file a claim today for a microwave that broke. I learned that the microwave wasn't covered because it was not a built in. Ok, no argument there. However, I was then told that my account would be coming up for renewal soon, and if I renewed TODAY, they would waive the $45 service call, replace the microwave with a new one (even though it was a stand alone), and they would add an extra free month to my contract. The rep seemed to be having a little difficulty with English, and I repeatedly asked her if she was sure of her information. She repeatedly replied "yes."
When I asked her to send me an email confirming what she told me, she put me on a lengthy "hold," and when she returned she said all she could do was waive the $45 service charge, but could not replace the microwave if it couldn't be fixed. In addition, I would have to pay for the repairs if it could be fixed. Sorry, Choice Home, but you've lost my trust!!!

Plan terms and conditions are not very clear, and all representatives are not trained to be a listener. Very aggressive to sell the warranty, but not listening to what the customers needs. Moreover, all the representatives and managers who I talked to today have horrible attitudes. I had to make 14 phone calls with over 4 hours on the phone to solve the issues.

Signing in to Choice Warranty. I wasn't comfortable with the 1st offer because it was higher than I wanted to pay. However, after asking for my age, which I am a senior citizen, the price was great. I did have 2nd thoughts because it was the total amount for 6 years was to paid in full. Rachel was respectful and official when talking to me and because of her, I decided to sign up. Water heater had small leak in tank last week and their exclusion stated do not cover holding tanks even though they say the cover water heaters. A water heater is a holding tank is it not? No resolutions. Had to pay myself. Next an air conditioner had Freon leak. Again, exclusion stated does not cover a leak as leaks occur through corrosion and rust. Even if I get leak fixed they will not cover the Freon replacement because leak was from rust or corrosion per their exclusion. Not seeing the value of pay monthly payments to have them deny any large ticket item due to "exclusions". Claim specialists either would not call my property manager back or are not willing to assist on any items. Is this really worth it? Not in my experiences.

My paperwork was not sent to me. I had actually forgotten about until our dryer started acting up. I called to find out that there was a 30 day grace period that you had no coverage from the time you pay! I was 4 days from the start date and now that I had told her the problem it was "preexisting” and would not be covered! I am so disappointed in this company already. I requested to speak to the supervisor and that person refused to come to the phone.

Redman Plumbing Service showed up on time and took me through every aspect of the repair. They even did an Electric Camera scope. They unstopped the Master bathroom perfectly. My hall bathtub was not done due to some cabinetry has to be moved to get behind the bathtub. I plan to talk with the office about this coverage so the tub can be unstopped. We did discover that there is an area already cut out for entry to the back of the tub.

Waited from 11:00 to 3:30 for plumber to show. He replaced garbage disposal...it didn't work. Said I need a new switch. Said it would cost me $120 extra to replace the switch. I said that's ok, the next day used our double sink and found the sink drain was completely disconnected and leaking.

My water heater went out, took 5 days for a person to be “scheduled”...on Friday, the technician called at 11 on an 11-3 window to cancel until the next day. On the next day, they came (Saturday). Now the water heater is not working again and I’m already out a service fee for waiting a week for nothing but bad service.

The condenser fan motor blade of our AC unit cracked and broke off, this caused further damage to the coil and the motor to run off balance. The coil damage led to refrigerant loss. Choice Home Warranty is claiming that this is not a failure that occurs under normal wear and tear conditions and refusing to cover the claim. Both myself and the technician who inspected the AC unit explained to the rude and unhelpful CM assigned to our case (Yvette **) that metal fatigue routinely leads to cracks in moving metal parts such as blades and causes fractures. I have requested that my complaint be escalated to Yvette **'s boss to no avail. I have filed a claim with BBB and will also file a lawsuit.

Reported problems with oven and dishwasher. Within 15 minutes a technician called to schedule an appointment to see the appliances. They showed up for the appt. at 3 pm, identified the issues, and said they would return within 3-5 days to repair the igniter in the oven and the drain pipe in the dishwasher. Turn-around time for the service call was great. Will let you know about the actual repair when it is completed.

This company advertises that they are the answer to high HVAC bills; however, they have a multitude of exclusions which, in effect, render their insurance null and void. This has happened to us with our HVAC system and with other minor claims which we attempted to file. Their stock and trade answer is: "That is due to normal wear and tear and is therefore not covered." Warning: It's too late for us, but prospective buyers, READ THE FINE, FINE PRINT and ask about specific situations which might come up with your situation. When we attempted to cancel our contract we were told that there is a high cancellation fee. In other words, we're stuck!

Took too long for Choice to find company to service ac. Company was here yesterday, employee nice young man. Told that he could not repair until contracting Choice. Also told me choice will not authorize repair. Why did I spend $1960.00 for coverage? Can’t answer following questions because I don’t know if choice will approve anything

Received call that repairman would come on Thursday by 3:00. Called the company at 3:10 and was advised we were on the schedule for the following day! Repairman did come early on Friday and replaced a part and we had hot water again. At 11:00 pm the basement was flooded again and no hot water. Easter is tomorrow and I have a family dinner planned and no hot water. Let’s see what happens today when I call.

The repair companies that Choice Warranty contracts with are very unprofessional. I have been with with Choice Warranty for 2 years now and every time I have been in need of a repair I come across the same issue. The companies they sub out are rude, late and then miss diagnose the problem. Then I have to play then “wait” game again that can sometimes take another few weeks time. I feel Choice Warranty really does not care about their customers. We are just another number to them. I will NOT be renewing my contract again.

Negotiated a fair price to a resolution to resolve issues. Disappointed because full price of replacement was not offered by Choice as stated in advertisement. However have had a complete payment of both previous claims. I will continue to be a customer with Choice Warranty.

This is only the second time I have had to make a claim. The first time was a terrible experience as well. I purchased the appropriate ice maker coverage for my refrigerator last year and I am just now using it. The ice maker stopped dispensing ice. The repairman came out after I had already dismissed the issue and Gave him the answers. He called in and the claim was denied. I received a letter of denial which stated it didn't fall within the appropriate guidelines as follows:
Are located inside the confines of the main foundation of the home or attached or detached garage (with the exception of the exterior pool/spa, well pump, septic tank pumping and air conditioner); and Become inoperative due to normal wear and tear; and Are in place and in proper working order on the effective date of this home warranty contract. This contract does not cover any known or unknown pre-existing conditions. Coverage is for occupied, owned or rented residential property.
The broken part that controls the lender to dispense ice absolutely falls within these guidelines as having broken under normal wear and tear circumstances. I have the broken piece right now. There is no other way to have failed. Despite the common sense behind it I was denied. Of course AFTER I had already paid my $60 deductible (which should be paid after the claim is accepted/denied. Not before). So now I am out $60. I could have bought the part and replaced it myself for $80 but I figured I have this specific coverage and a warranty with the repairs so I made the claim and paid it. Now because of some ridiculous ambiguous loop hole this company denied me and I will have spent $140. I'd like to know what they DO cover.
I will attempt to speak with a manager tomorrow to rectify the issue or get a refund on my deductible. If a satisfactory resolution is not reached I am dumping this company all together. Truthfully I should have dumped them after the first fight I had to make with that LEGITIMATE claim. I, at this point, would highly discourage anyone from contacting with this company.

I like the warranty and now have purchased it for 2 of my homes. What I don’t care for is when I look at the website I start getting calls within minutes. If I wanted to talk to someone I would have called instead of inquiring on the internet. And the people who call are pushy, I think this practice cheapens your company.

Very dissatisfied with my experience. What's the point of having a warranty program if they won't pay for what they are liable for? Called about our a/c not working on 4/9/19-claim submitted. Technician came to our house the very next day-which was great! Tech had poor words to say about this company which was a huge red flag right off the bat. He stated that the control board would need replaced. He stated that the cost for the part alone would be $500, took our $60 check for the service call and said he would be getting in touch with them right away.
The next day he said he spoke with them and they felt they could get the part cheaper through their purchasing department. Eventually they said that our claim was approved via e-mail. However the same day the tech called and said that our particular model of Trane furnace required a kit that included the control board and other items in order for the component to work together-the control board is not sold separately.
That same day we received 2 denial e-mails stating the reason for the denial was because they don't cover "modifications." They were willing "as a goodwill gesture" to pay first $200 then (in a second e-mail) $250 towards the claim but that at the time of the work, we needed to pay $864.00 to the tech. Wait, what?! I called a Trane manufacturer and confirmed that this is not a modification-this is the fix for the control board.
We submitted an appeal and included the written information from the manufacturer. To no avail-but their offer did increase to $400. Please note that the average cost of a control board replacement including labor is $400-$600. Tashay **, our case manager told me that their contract with their technicians for this type of job is only $300. Based upon what the tech told us on day one-the control board itself is $500- so from the get-go we are getting taken advantage of. Apparently, the tech can then charge the homeowner whatever they want...
Here is the math: $1174 total for the job (according to the tech although I have seen NO paperwork), $864 for the part (according to the tech) and roughly $250 to install. I called Trane again and the part is only $611 plus the $250 labor. As I sit here now writing this-nearly 2 weeks later-I can say that I have spent roughly 3 full days working on this issue over the last 2 weeks. I am out the $60 and our a/c still isn't working and hasn't been repaired.
Today the case manager accused me of arguing with her when I question her math or challenge her position. Really? I am a customer and consumer and I know b/s when I see it. From the very beginning our experience with them and their tech has been very frustrating. We have paid our monthly premium for two years and they arbitrarily throw out a random number for how much they will pay on a claim for a system that was covered. They get the make their own definitions of "modification" and have a denial for every claim. This is what they get paid to do. This company is fraudulent and I will be reporting to the BBB and department of insurance.

I was just going thru my emails and Choice Home Warranty just happen to come up and I was just clicking on it to read what it was convincing. I had spoke to 4 other companies and went on the senor site. I was going to go with another company but just as I was look ask Choice my phone rang and it was a representative from Choice. As we spoke I had mentioned I was was thinking of going with another company and he told me what it would cover and it had covered my garage which the other company didn't plus I got a great deal. I'm very grateful for them calling. And mom is now interested in getting a account through them after I told them what it covered and I spoke to my son. Had him look my contract over. He didn't see anything wrong otherwise I would have been told no. So I'm glad for this opportunity with them and I hope it works out and it of course I hope I don't have any problems but the main thing is I now have peace of mind.

Had a plumbing stoppage and submitted a claim online. It was very easy to do online and Choice responded quickly. While at first had a delay in finding a contractor to do the work, they kept us informed along the way through emails and texts that they were working on it. Once a contractor was found, they came quickly, the next morning and did the work. Choice responded quickly to approve the work, so, the whole process was handled in a very professional way.

The first person sent to fix my stopped up toilet damaged the toilet but was able to get it unstopped. Unfortunately the solution was only good for a couple weeks. A second person said he couldn’t fix it because his equipment wasn’t long enough. Then Choice tells me it is outside their contract. It is in the plumbing line within the house boundaries. Very very disappointed and feeling like the warranty isn’t worth the money I spent on it.

You're going to see some good reviews on here but they are going to be from people who used the service for small convenient things. THIS COMPANY WILL AVOID PAYING ANYTHING MORE THAN YOUR POLICY AT ALL COST. Also if you are told you will be prorated back, it's a lie. Don't get this type of insurance in general, but if you are definitely don't get this one.

My husband and I are senior citizens and on a fixed income so I thought we needed a home warranty to protect us in case anything went wrong! My husband got sick (Dementia) and my Mother just died of Dementia, I was happy with my home warranty even though they were expensive and Choice kept calling me to tell me that I could save a lot of money and all I saw on their site was "NEVER PAY FOR COVERED HOME REPAIRS AGAIN" "CAN YOU AFFORD TO REPLACE YOUR AC AND HEATING SYSTEM and "IF WE CAN'T FIX IT WE'LL REPLACE IT" so I thought well my old one was good so they must be good! My big Mistake, they lie over and over again!
I went with Choice and 3 months later my AC unit went out for the first time so I called them! They sent a tech out that I had to pay $60.00 to tell me it was the coils and my fault! BTY, I have never heard of coils then he told me that it would not be covered because Choice never covers anything but small claims. I was denied and was given a case manager! It was so hot in the condo that when I called the doctor about my husband not sleeping getting agitated and being confused he told me to go to the ER and make sure that he didn't have a stroke. It was all from the heat. I called to tell the case manager and she offered me $200.00 that I turned down.
I filed a claim with the BBB and via the BBB they offered me the $200.00 for good faith AND & 1250.00 which I was going to accept but I just wanted to know if they were offering me both or just the $1250.00. That was a trick because the next day the case manager called me to tell me that the $1250.00 was an error. How do you make an error like that? They only cover small claims no matter who you are or what you pay! It is a scam and false advertising! I just want what was promised to me! I think the CEO of the company should sit in a condo for 2 weeks in Florida with no air and maybe he will change! We don't have the money to get it fixed or to buy one and they lied to us I never got a contract. The sad part is my old warranty would have covered this and I would be sitting in AC!

Luckily I have not had to use my warranty service for the past two years. My dryer check vent light would not stop coming on even after thoroughly cleaning the vent and the hose behind the dryer and the exit area. Called Choice and had a repair person here in two days. He was polite and thorough, light refused to come on while he was here but he did offer suggestions for when the light does come on. Glad to have this great warranty.

My feelings are mixed. On the last repair, the service was great. Once I knew not to use the telephone and do everything online, it went very smoothly. They allowed me to find my own repair person and reimbursed me for the cost. On My first use of their service, I was on hold forever and the individual they selected to do the work broke more things than he repaired. He was incompetent. The only good news is they sent someone new to complete the job ASAP.

We recently had a new garage door opener installed. In the last two weeks the door had stopped halfway going both up and down. The garage door repairman, Josh, arrived and in a short time diagnosed the problem and was able to get the door working properly. Our repairman was a very courteous and knowledgeable young man. Samsung washer went out and it took a little over a week to get a company out here to assess the damage but once they did the very next day they approved the work order which turned out to be the the water pump. Now all I have to do is wait for the work order company to receive the replacement part and install and hopefully receive their payment for their efforts in a timely manner.

Called Choice Warranty on 11 April to apprise them that our home's heat/heater was not working. First, the person on phone spoke broken English and was very hard to understand. Secondly, Choice Warranty gave us the impression that they didn't care that we had no heat. They subsequently called back and told us that the repair man would come on Wednesday the 17th. Almost an entire week later. Thank goodness it was not in the middle of the winter.
The repairman came from Fairless Hills, PA. Are you serious?? You do not have any contracted furnace repair guys in South Jersey? Not a good way to run a business. Again, thank goodness that it was not in the middle of winter. When the repair guy did show up, he was polite, competent, and fixed the problem in less than an hour. So why did it take a week to get someone out here to do less than an hours' work??? Once performed, we are completely satisfied with the work, but not satisfied with Choice Home's effort, cooperation, understanding and generally a very unsatisfactory approach to our situation. This was our first call to Choice Home for a household problem, and not a good way to start a longterm commitment.

Man changed garbage disposal and left. After he left we tried to run dishwasher. Drain from dishwasher was plugged up and dishwasher flooded kitchen floor. Called repairman up and said he blocked drain line and he should have checked it before he left. He said he didn't do it and refused to come back. Now I have to file another claim and wait for another repairman and probably pay another fee to fix what the first repairman caused.

Even though what I needed fixed was not covered (it was a exhaust dryer pipe that was not connected to the wall), I was sent sent a technician who fixed it for me at a reasonable price and he came early too, and was very courteous and helpful. This is the first year that I am using Choice, and it is so much better than the other one that I have used for years. The technicians are not trying to gouge you, nor trying to push you to replace something when your appliance shows that it has life on it still.

Most of the people who came out for the air conditioner and jacuzzi did not even look at the items. They did not so much as have a screwdriver in their hand. Top Dollar did not even know how to turn on the jacuzzi jets but he claimed he was an "expert". The initial air conditioner "repairman" said that we needed a condensor and you did not cover it. You verified that you DO cover that item but he never gave you the claim! I got a second opinion on my own and they said that all we needed was a fan motor. The second person you sent out agreed with my independant service company! I am still waiting (for10 days) for you to send out a licensed jacuzzi repairman.

I have had issues with Choice and their servicemen since January. I submitted a claim about my dishwasher not running through cycles. Two companies came out within the course of 4 months and I still do not have it repaired. Choice comes and declares it a replacement as it would cost more money to fix than replace. Their Offer? $179, I declined and was given a Caseworker. When I explained to him the cheapest dishwasher at Home Depot was $308 for a Non Brand dishwasher, He said they could offer me $300 to replace my dishwasher. My dishwasher retails new between $599 Up. This company is horrible. I was told purchasing guaranteed replace for appliances for similar model or better! How do I get a better model or even similar for $300? I do not know. I will RUN if this company tries to sell their Warranty to you. NEVER AGAIN.

You recommend replace versus repair. Agent did not even check to see who was policy. Policy bought before marriage and was making deals with now my wife. Policy was in-place years before marriage, married in July 2018. Email was sent prematurely with counter offer. We did not even get close to a replacement offer. We will be looking at other warranty before automatically renewing our contract. I am surely going to find a company that will be better to make replacement offers.

The Microwave needed to be replaced, but the amount provided does not cover the cost of the replacement for the same size and features. The point of this coverage is to not have to pay more than the deductible when something happens like this. But that was not the case. I had to pay the service fee for a tech to spend 5min telling me that it needed to be replaced then spend more money getting it replaced with a like unit then I have to install the unit myself or pay someone to do it. Does not seem right to me at all!

Our hot water tank pilot wouldn’t come on so we had no hot water. I had a quick response when I first called Choice to put in the new claim. Within 24 hours a repairman came in and replaced the thermal coupler in the tank. Excellent service and courteous people to deal with all around. Very satisfied with the plan.

I changed the sheets on my bed... placed the sheets I had removed in the washing machine and it filled with water... That was it... It would not do anything else.. Contacted Choice Home Warranty.. The first repair order was some 7 -10 days away. I recontacted Choice Home Warranty and the repair was reset with another repairman who came out within two days of receiving the order... Located the problem... obtained the necessary part for my washing machine and put me back in the laundry business!!!! I wrote voluntarily immediately after your rep left my home. I have never had anyone in my home for any purpose more comfortable to have. He quickly diagnosed the problem and went about his business of clearing the pipe. He worked in such a manner that there was nothing to cleanup after he left... just replace the "junk" I keep there. As I said, I wrote a note immediately to give William the credit for a job well done. I see the Character Count is set at 463... Whatever is the maximum is what I would give. In November 2018, I called Choice Home Warranty for warranty insurance for the condominium unit at **. Wayne from sales took the call and sold the plan to me. I was very specific of not being tied down to a contract and agreed to pay only if I had the right to cancel anytime without penalty. He confirmed to me that there was no catch and that I was free to get out ANYtime without fees or penalty. It was on these contract terms that I gave my credit card as payment. I paid for other properties as well. I already had insurance with another warranty company for those properties and subsequently decided not to break those contracts and cancelled those and continued coverage only for NY property.
I paid 1,750 for 60 months coverage from December 30, 2018. Wayne said that I would get an additional year for free and hence technically the payment was for 72 months. I have had the contract for 4 months December 30 2018 to April 16 2019 and am unable to utilize since the contractors they use do not have adequate insurance or workers comp. The building has refused every single contractor that this company sent. I had to finally get outside contractors to do the repair work and had Choice Home Warranty approve, authorize and pay for the work done. Hence it is not working out for me and called to cancel the policy today (after 4 months) and asked for refund for remaining 56 months.
The prorated refund will be $1,633.34. They also have a balance due to me for $121.76 for work that was completed by an outside contractor. Today when I called to cancel and ask for refund the terms stated were different to what Wayne and I had agreed on the day of payment. They said there will be administration fee of $50 and the monthly dues will be calculated by some other formulae and the balance refundable to me would be $500 less. I believe this company is taking consumers’ money under false marketing and sales tactics. I am requesting refund on terms that I agreed. On one occasion the contractor that was assigned to do the repair had a felony and an alias name and since I scrutinize all contractors before they enter found this out. I am questioning the company’s guidelines and procedures on security, license and insurance checks as well.

We filed claim on our Kenmore Elite side by side refrigerator with Grab-N-Go door that it was not cooling and compressor was running. It was installed in October 2014 and cost $2,800 on sale. We were pleased to get an appointment with service technician the next day. He came and confirmed compressor needed to be replaced. That is when our dissatisfaction and disappointment started. Choice Home Warranty received technicians repair request. Within hour or so I received a call and email noting I had great news. The company indicated it was best to replace vs repair and offered me $600. I immediately declined and shortly received a call from Case Manager explaining the basis for their decision and repeatedly told me they had sole responsibility to make the decision to replace. Yes, this is written under limitations of liability.
The cost to replace compressor was $800. To purchase a like refrigerator is in range of $2700-$3000 plus tax depending on sale price. I finally agreed to have them send me $600 and we are repairing. Hopefully, I will get a check within 30 days as noted. I am assuming they are saving $200 and more importantly we will be unable to file a second claim on our refrigerator. Very disappointing considering sales pitch to purchase Warranty. Ask questions regarding limits of liability before purchasing.

This company prides itself in denying claims, in three years I have submitted 7 claims and all of them but one have been denied. This is the biggest ripoff ever. They will find a reason not to cover every claim. Don't take their word for it. Read the small print on the items that excluded from each appliance, you would be shocked.

Honestly, the determination letters are unclear on the actual determination and frankly seem to take a cowardly approach to standing behind your own contract. If my service is not covered, I want to know first in plain language... "Based on our information/investigation your outage/service is NOT covered." Secondly, I want understand why so quoting the section of the contract is great and you do that well. Thirdly, in the event your staff has misunderstood the situation, I want a way to speak to someone to ensure I fully understand any nuances provided by the particular situation so I can understand why it was not covered.
In addition to this, the reimbursement process is simply not fair to suggest the worker has to stop what he/she is doing and wait on hold for 10-30 minutes so they can explain the details to a CHW specialist. Their time is valuable, and CHW is literally abusing that which they are paying for. This could not be more nonsensical.

After putting a claim to repair HVAC, I had to wait 2 days in extremely hot weather for a technician to show up with no working AC just to get a diagnosis. The technician took another 3 days to submit the diagnostics to the company. After a week I received a denial of the claim stating that the reason for my unit not to be working is a maintenance issue; therefore not covered by the warranty. I am a general contractor, and I can definitely tell you it is not a maintenance issue. They refused to cover it. Complete SCAM. Do not buy this warranty.

Requested assistance for a leaking connector nut on the pipes to my hot heater. Zero support from the customer representative and had to go through a supervisor for approval. If I had not been persistent I would have had to pay for the repair myself. Fortunately, the plumber assigned knew exactly what to do and had the leaking problem solved in 20 minutes!

Too many restrictions in your contract. This company always try to avoid covering everything. I will never re-sign with this company. I think I paid a lot for the coverage, but I had too many No in the past. I don't see any added value to pay so much and get too many...It's not covered.

My well pump went out so I called Choice Home Warranty. They told me that they will try to find a contractor in my area but no one responded. They emailed me told me that I can find my own contractor so I did Pittman well contractor in NC. In my mind that they were not going to pay no way. But boy I were WRONG. THEY PAID THE ENTIRE FEE. I had a different warranty company when I first bought my home, and every claim was like pulling teeth to get set up. Within 30 minutes of submitting my claim, I had been contacted by Choice, had the name of the company being sent, and a tentative appointment set. The contractor called soon after to give a more precise time frame and make sure the appointment was good for me. On the day of the appointment, the technician was on-time, and quickly diagnosed the issue at hand. Replacement parts were obtained, and within 20 minutes replacement parts were installed, and the job was completed.

When I submitted this claim on 4-3-19 it was assigned to Contractor Plus. The service tech who arrived was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. He agreed with me that the problem with my washer was the cold water intake valve. I then paid him the $45.00 co-pay. He said he would return the following day with the replacement between noon and 2 p.m.. At 3:30 p.m. I called him to see if he was coming and he said he would be at my house within a few minutes. He never showed up!
The next morning I Choice Warranty and resubmitted my claim. This time I was put in touch with a company called Zaki-HVAC. They were fantastic! I gave them them the model number of my machine and the next day their tech named Rod arrived with the replacement valve and installed it within an hour. Both the gentleman I spoke with on the phone at Zaki-HVAC and Rod were very friendly and extremely professional. I am impressed! Should I have another appliance issue I hope Zaki-HVAC is the contractor assigned. My rating of 4 would have been a 5 if Zaki-HVAC would have been the initial contractor for this order. The agents I spoke with at Choice Warranty regarding this order were also very friendly and helpful. They are equally appreciated. Thank you.

Filed claim for microwave, repair person promptly assigned and appointment scheduled. Repair person reschedule 4 times over, 3 weeks, never showed. Second repair person scheduled, showed up when scheduled. Microwave not repairable. Choice offered me cash which was way below cost to replace. After accepting cash offer, Choice said takes 3 to, 4 weeks to issue check. So by the time check is received it will have been 2 months from first filing claim. WHAT would happen if heating system fails in winter?? TWO months without heat. It does not take 3 to 4 weeks to cut check. Totally wouldn't recommend CHOICE.

The salesman was rude. He tried several times to sell me more although I told him several times I only needed 1 year coverage. Then he told me they will up the price next year if I don't buy 3 or 5 year coverage. I also wish they have a monthly payment plus the price on the website was cheaper than the salesman said. UPDATED 05/31/2019: AC problem - not cooling. Choice was quick to assign service provider of high quality. He diagnosed the problem and approval was obatained from Choice for the fix. The fix was approved without a hitch. The part was ordered and installed in a couple of days. Good Job Choice. This issue was handled quickly with the utmost professionalism.
Original Review: Changed Home Warranty companies this year by deciding to give Choice a try. You have to be a technician to understand all their exclusions but their marketing drip leads you to believe they cover all major component of Air Conditioning units. They don't. There are many internal parts within an AC that can wear out over time…. like the thermal expansion valve. For unknown reasons they have excluded this. Mine went out and therefore they will not cover. IF you go on to read all the exclusions.... there are many unfamiliar parts to most people they exclude. Yet their marketing dribble leads you to believe "you're Covered". The list of exclusions are long enough that I think they probably have an exit point for most problems. You have to almost be an HVAC expert to understand if the coverage is truly worth it given all the exclusions.

My heating system quit working one Saturday morning. Choice Home Warranty was pretty good about setting up a appointment for a tech to show up and look at the unit. The tech got the unit working but advised me the gas valve and a igniter cable were bad. The valve and cable needed to be replaced in order for the unit to continue working. Choice Home Warranty denied my claim based on the fact the contract would not replace valves. This unit was approximately 30 years old and the tech was unable to find a gas valve or igniter cable anywhere. The heating unit is now worthless and not working because of its age and the unavailability of parts.
I live at 3150 foot elevation, so it’s fairly cold during the winter and spring. As parts are not available, I was under the impression Choice Home Warranty might offer some assistance or possible direct me in a way that I might get this unit working. I received a E-mail telling me they were denying my claim and how to appeal. Very cold, and direct to the point, no compassion or any hint of helping out. I have not contacted Home Warranty yet, but I will. I am very dissatisfied with the manner and tone of how this claim was handled. I will file a appeal and see what happens. I don't suspect much will take place.

I don’t think your reason for rejecting my claim is fair or valid. The only reason that most of your customers (assuming they are like me) pay for your service is to not have to worry about or take additional time to rectify the problem. Your protocol in processing the claims only lengthens the process and adds to the problem.

I tried using my Choice Home Warranty last year for a problem with my AC then I tried using them again for a completely different problem and BOTH times my claims were denied. I was given some lame excuse for the denial. I am not an AC technician and cannot predict the future and that's why I purchased their Home warranty. I am waiting for my appeal to be processed and if it is denied, I will cancel my warranty protection. I was duped into thinking that this process would be painless and easy, but I was wrong.

I have been without water for 3 days. Yesterday a MR Plumber employee came to my house. Checked out my pump, never mentioning they did not work on pumps. He said the next time he came back there wouldn't be a service charge. He also said someone would call me within an hour. After 2 hours I called Choice to find out what was going on. They couldn't tell me until the report came in from MR Plumber. I called MR Plumber and they told me they don't do pumps. I called Choice and was told they would get someone else. It is 6:30 pm and I haven't heard anything. So I guess you could say I am very fed up with Choice.

Worker failed to tell the resident if the job was completed or not. He left the property, then re-appeared later on. Your workers must communicate better with the resident so they know what is going on. The job was on the building roof so communication about the job being done was important.

My disposal was leaking, and it was on a weekend. They sent someone out the next day which was Sunday. My husband and I go to church around the time that the company was coming out to repair. Choice warranty does not live up to the promise of: "If We Can't Fix It, We'll Replace It". If the technician comes out and cannot perform a covered repair, CHW will replace the unit". The customer service is poor and if we disagree with their claim determination there is no appeal process. The case manager told me that I can not speak with the next level manager nor make a verbal or written complaint. She was the ultimate authority and the 2-options she gave are final. Although it was on the website - "In the event that CHW makes such payment, CHW will provide written notification of the basis for the amount of the payment", she would not give any explanation nor written notification of basis other than saying that it was their cost.
I was offered $600 for heat exchanger repair for broken furnace (which neither Choice Warranty nor the technician they sent would repair) vs the market cost of heat exchanger repair of approx $1500 (as quoted by the repair technician). The claim process itself is too slow and I would not recommend this to anyone! Just we were lucky that it happened at the end of winter, so it was OK to be without furnace heating for few days and wait. What could have happened if this to happen in the peak of winter. I have paid the premiums for last 4 years and needless to say that I will not renew with them!

iFirst of all no thanks to Home warranty and that I could be not typing this letter because of the circumstances. A month ago I got up to go to work and had no hot water so I went outside to look at the water heater and smelled a strong odor of gas coming from the area. I then proceeded to call Choice Warranty and they called me back a week later in which I could have been doomed by then. The washer and dryer quit working so I again notified them on Monday and they did call back on Tuesday and told me a repair person would get in touch with me. Here it is Thursday. Still no one has called so I had to buy me a washer and a dryer because I need clean clothes. So my experience so far is I could be dead, I could smell bad. No bath and I could be wearing dirty clothes. What a experience.

I was initially offered a very low, like, insultingly low price for the dishwasher replacement. Upon speaking with the gentleman, we can to a much more reasonable number. I am not elated with the number, as it still doesn't get me the same quality dishwasher that I have (isn't the point of insurance to make you 'whole' again), but he was polite and we had a good dialogue.

I just switched from Fidelity Home Warranty to Choice 2 months ago! While with Fidelity, I called in a repair on my Refrigerator Ice Maker, and one on my clothes dryer. My dryer took 3 days to fix and my ice maker dragged out for two weeks with repeated phone calls and complaints. My service calls amount were 75.00 dollars each and each time I called, it was if I was annoying them! BIG difference with Choice! These guys jumped on kit, had my washer fixed within 24 hrs, and my service call out of pocket was dramatically lower!

It's useless. Every time something's broke they deny the claim for 1 million reasons. My AC fan broke, and they deny. It's because it was due to lack of maintenance. I'm not a handyman and that's the primary reason why I have home warranty. So if I'm going to pay for maintenance yearly. Why would I need warranty. I paid 1k+ to Choice Warranty that went down the drain.

Very rude and inconsiderate team of people. The supervisor named Brad very rude and demanding. Talked down on me. Changed his words on offers, said would not cover cost for replacing water heater only for cheep tubings they may cover. He then offered me a check of 250 dolllars. Not even half the price of water heater. I asked for refund as I just paid for policy two days before and I am new owner of the house and my first time policy with this company. He refused to pay me back my full refund according to new agreement of policy. I should been getting my full money back. When asked for full refund he said I don’t deserve my money back. He offered me back 280 dollars back from my 375 dollar for no service they provided.
They are like people force you down to your throat and as demanding to stay with them for their cheapskates. I really disappointed with their service. They should be reported to Better Business Bureau. I cannot believe how he treated me and later when my husband called them they kept changing their words. The lady on the phone with my husband was very rude and she hung up on me. The guy named brad also hung up on me. They are a manipulative cooperation after your money. Deceptive service agreements. They don’t cover most almost 90% or more of the damages, if they cover it barely cost them 59-100 dollars worth, that is how they have your money. Would not ever recommend anyone to this company. The plumber was very thorough and systematic in trying to find the location of my leak. I told him I didn't think it was the toilet that was leaking and caused my water bill to skyrocket, as I didn't hear any sound. But he insisted and took off the tank covers for all 4 toilets and he found it in the last one. He then changed the part that needed replacement and the leak stopped. I was so relieved. He did a great job! The turn around time was less than 24 hours.

Turned ac off, waited for a while for recycle, turned on still blowing air. Put order in online, by 9:00pm the ac man called making the appointment. All of this took 4 hours. Very pleased with time efficiency, the tech and helper that came out, they were knowledgeable. Explaining everything they did and why. Would recommend Choice every time. Thank you Choice!

I was offered way less to replace my washer than you could purchase any washer for without any possible chance of getting a fair amount. I will not renew and would recommend anyone against doing business with your company. I have had other home warranties before and never been so displeased Choice is definitely trying to rip off their customers!

We had an incident with our garbage disposal leaking. I submitted the claim online, received a call back from CHW very quickly and had a technician dispatched by the end of the day. The technician called and we worked out an agreeable time for him to make the repair. We are back up and fully functional. Very seamless process and very satisfied with the service. Thanks!

Although the repairman called ahead and showed up on time, he ran out of 410a which delayed the process over an hour while he left to get more 410a and have lunch. Also, it was a long and difficult process reaching a person from Low Country's Best Heating and Cooling to confirm my appt.

I like to company you sent this time. He was the bomb. Knew what he was doing. He was friendly. Customer service was on point. Replace my baking element, my refrigerator, fixed my broiler working. Hopefully I will continue to have good experiences.

I requested service on my Air Conditioner, but the claim was denied. They told me service or maintenance is not covered. I have complete coverage, I think the yearly recommended service, maintenance, should be covered. I had the impression complete coverage meant just that. But I found out it doesn't. They told me they would be happy to schedule a tech to come out, but it would not be covered and I would have to pay the entire cost. They didn't even tell me what that cost would be. I don't think this is good business. BEWARE.

I called Choice on March 25th for a leaking dishwasher. An appointment was set for April 1st. The contractor Ray One LLC was late. He said the "bowl" was leaking and it is expensive to fix and that I should have an answer from Choice on the 2nd. It is now the 9th and still no response. I called Choice on the 5th and they told me they were taking the diagnosis over the phone from Ray while I was on the phone, they lied. I called on the 9th and their response was that they couldn't get in touch with Ray but claimed they spoke to him on the 5th. They refused to return the $60 fee and now I have to wait for them to send out another tech 6 days from now. Avoid using Choice for a home warranty. I will be cancelling this policy as soon as this claim is done. Don't waste your time with them.

As an older recently widowed citizen, I was hesitant about a repair person coming to my residence. This was my first order through Choice Home Warranty. Needless to say, I was pleased with the complete experience from the first phone call through the actual repair time. The young man was very personable, went to work right away and had the washer repaired within 30 minutes. My first experience went quickly and without any problems. Thank you.

I am not satisfied with the status of my oven. The light will not stay on; the bulb blows out right away. Repairman replaced the computer panel, then came again when that did not solve the problem and tested the outlet and said I needed a special light that pulled less electricity. That is not an acceptable answer to the problem. A normal, appliance light bulb ought to suffice. This stove/oven is very old and on its last leg. It has never operated properly in the time I have lived here.

Never use Choice Home Warranty. Do not ever use “Choice Home Warranty” as a home warranty company. On 04/13/17 I purchased a contract until 04/13/23 for $1,977.50 with a $45.00 deductable. In 08/17 I made a claim for a dimmer light switch. Their technician was a no show, I had Mr. Electrical fixed it and “Choice Home Warranty” refunded a set amount. Then in 06/18 my upstairs toilet was leaking and did not flush, “Choice Home Warranty” scheduled Master Mechanical LLC to fix the problem, their technician collected $45.00, tighten the tank too tight and broke the tank. He stated he need to get approval to replace the toilet. "It will hold tonight," 45 minutes after he left water was coming from the ceiling under the toilet. I called “Choice Home Warranty.” They said they did not waive a repair order. The tech did not file one. I had Eco Plumbers replace the toilet.
“Choice Home Warranty” pay the cost, they did try to charge me the $45.00 copay I paid to Master Mechanical LLC. Then in 04/19 my dishwasher broke. I called “Choice Home Warranty.” They set up an appointment 04/08 11 am until 3pm ****no show again. I called at 3:42 and wanted my prorated amount back. 1st lady after hold said co. out of business, told her give me back my money or replace my dishwasher. She put me on hold and got a supervisor who said no refund. They have spent around $1,100.00 on my repairs and 25 months prorated leave no refund. She said can have tech here at 6 pm tomorrow. I said, "No. Waited all day today. She said they will give me $179.99 for a new dishwasher. What choice do I have.

Keeping Refrigerant Moving, Mr. ** knew on the spot what the problem was, called it in and Choice approved the motor and thank God we have air now. I do feel like we should have not had to pay another service fee due to just having Guead Pro Air out around March 18-23rd., who told me we needed a new motor, but did not put one on. I think we should get a credit or refund.

I just moved into a home with existing appliances. Much of which me and my family had no idea of what conditions they were in prior to inspections. Had to go over details of issue with the claim multiple times. Emails didn't go through most times. Received one phone-call from support. They never attempted a call back. Will be more cautious in the future of whom I chose to go with for home warranty services.

Gator Drain and Plumbing handled our need very professionally from making the appointment to fixing our problem with two toilets that were using excess water and costing us money because they would not always stop flushing. The representative did an excellent job and was very nice.

I got for two homes. Cool breeze Dr and tideview circle. I would highly recommend this company. They beat service America and American home shield.

I was tempted to have three years contract with the company in November 2018. After three months my water heater was leaking. I called the company and they sent a technician and he advised me to have a new one and the total estimate for replacement was $1500/, but the company refused to pay instead they offered me only $300/and asked me to review service agreement. I immediately cancelled my contract and got a refund of only $813/, So I ended up with a loss of $237 and $45 for technician fee within three months only. Really it is a scam and crook. My advice to the people beware of this company and read their agreement before signing up.

My washer is messed up. They say they will replace it. Guess what? I can replace what I've got for 200.00 more and then I've got to wait 20 days for check to come. I've got grandchildren that live with me. Called and told them. Said this was what I had to do. Guess everyone will have dirty clothes. What a joke. This is false advertising.

April 5th 2019 Friday afternoon my garbage Disposal stop working. I placed a claim on Friday afternoon and It was replaced before noon Saturday April 6th 2019. Plumber was very professional, was on time and cleaned everything under the sink and test for any possible leak under the sink.

So my first claim I made was my hot water tank. Y’all did not fix it. It had to be replaced. I was told it was old. Second claim was my garage door opener. It makes a very loud noise and I know there’s a problem....but because the door still went up and down, the repairman said y’all would not fix nor replace. I literally threw away $60! I still have the horrible noise! I’m considering dropping my policy. Maybe I didn’t read the fine print. Appliances covered can not be old. Appliances can not be fixed or replaced until they die....but my hot water tank did die....hmmm.

After it was determined that the dryer should be replaced, it was a bit difficult to get through the first response technician. Once I was able to speak with a supervisor everything went more smoothly. The supervisor was very understanding and helpful.

It took 5 months to finally reach a settlement on our maytag dryer. 5 different repairmen, each time then having to wait another week or two for parts, then after installing parts, dryer breaks down again—on and on and on. Now after 5 months a 5 repairmen, they tell us parts are no longer available and we reach a settlement only because we are tired of being without a dryer.

Over 4 to 5 months our dryer continues to stop working. We have had 5 repairmen, at least 6 different parts shipped taking 1 to 2 weeks for each part to arrive and then the repairman had to schedule a return. Finally this week we were offered a buyout which was probably a fair offer. However, to wait 4 to 5 months and we are still without a working dryer and now much wait another month for the buyout money seems very problematic. Whatever the appliance breakdown, no one wants to wait 6 months for a solution. I believe after the second service call and the dryer still was not working someone should have been involved to solve our dryer problem quickly but no one seemed concerned.

First contractor said there was no leak, unjammed the garbage disposal, and left. He had arrived 4 hours late and it was now close to 7 pm and he probably wanted to go home. Second contractor was right on time, three days later, and did the replacement and was neat and quick. I paid one fee and am very pleased. The technician spoke to Choice and the second fee was waived immediately. I have found almost all contractors are responsive and very knowledgeable.

We had a major water leak. I called and was told I could call my plumber, it was an emergency. When I called back with info I was told to e-mail invoice and explanation and materials. I got the info and e-mailed it. I was told it would be a week and I would hear from CHW. I didn’t, so called again and was told I would get an answer in two days. I e-mailed the info again. Didn’t hear, so called again and was told I’d hear within 2 hours. I waited and called again.
This time I talked to the 5th person and was told I could e-mail again but wouldn’t matter, they had to have the info before work was done. I explained I was never told that. She revised all the calls and agreed yes I was never told that. She said, "Sorry but that’s the way it is". I wasted many hours e-mailing info several times and many long phone calls on hold. This was very disappointing. It would have been much better if the CHW employers had all know this and told me from the beginning.
