    I just purchased the home warranty policy on 7/29/19. Have not had the opportunity to use its services. All I can say is that the salesperson, Brandon was very personable and explained what the package I bought entailed. He spoke very fast and at times it was difficult to follow him. I told him at the end of the conversation that he needed to slow down when he was speaking with a potential customer. I previously used American Home Shield but there was a problem so when I moved to another city, decided against using them again. I can not rate your company since I have not used its services yet. One thing for sure is that knowing that I have this type protection gives me peace of mind if anything breaks down in my home. By the way, my mailing address is **.     Choice Home Warranty has provided coverage for me about 1 year. Previously I had two other companies. The first one I had claims experience. Their service was acceptable. The second company I had was overpriced, but paid for when I bought the house. I did not have a claim with them. I purchased Choice based on customer reviews, and their price was competitive. I experienced 2 claims in a month. first the A/C unit quit on a Friday when the temperature was 98 degrees. The Tech made it to my house the same day, at 8:15 PM. I thought I was going to have to go through the weekend with no A/C.

    But Choice's service company worked overtime at regular rates in order to ensure my A/C was repaired! Fantastic service. Next, about a month later the Aerobic Septic air supply fan pump quit working. Again the Service company worked with my schedule to come when it was convenient for me, made the necessary repairs in a timely manner. the service Tech was cooperative, polite and professional. I highly recommend that every homeowner choose Choice Home Warranty for their Home Warranty provider. Their prices are fair, and the service is Great!

    As with the other 1 star complaints, Choice Warranty totaled screwed me on a pool motor that broke down. They did everything to avoid paying a dime. Claims expert, who was no expert, said a pump was excluded due to prior issues. I tried calling Ms. ** all day and left several messages which said she would be in her office 'all day from 11am to 7pm'. Just before 7pm, I called her again and message now said she was gone for a week. She never called back. So... I talked to a supervisor. I tried explaining to Alex the issue to the point of total frustration that a pump either works or it doesn't. There can be no 'prior'. I even paid extra each month to cover a pool motor/pump. After 3 days of arguing, I cancelled my policy. Then, my pool bill was over $1000. I tried calling Choice Warranty again. Now.... the excuse was I couldn't received money because I cancelled the warranty. AVOID Choice Warranty.

    The roof was leaking they notice that shingles was missing so there's waiting for the approval to add more shingles as well. Also advise me call back if needed, but have to wait until it rains to see. They was quicker that I thought they would be. Now just waiting on the weather to see if the job was done correctly. I like the fact that it was only 45.00 service fee. Just didn't like the fact that I thought my first service fee was going to be free.

    Choice Home Warranty is a scam, every time some item went out-and Appliance. All they wanted to do was pay a fraction of what the actual value was. My water heater goes out they were not paid to have it replaced. They gave me $300 for a 50 gallon gas water heater. (A new water heater just to buy is $600). My refrigerator goes out. They would not pay me anything because they said that it was a compressor issue. My dishwasher goes out and they said they would give me $350 towards replacing and they would not fix it. And they said the check was in the mail expected within 30 days. I called and it got canceled within four days.

    They re-assigned me a check and I called 30 days again. It was canceled within five days. I called again . And they’re stating that he should be here again within 30 days. Do not ever use this company. Customer service is really bad and get ready to be bounce around no. And they’re stating that he should be here again within 30 days. Do not ever use this company.     Horrible. Going on three weeks now without any AC, oh and I live in Texas and it’s JULY. Technician was a no show, finally showed up days later, says he needs a motor to fix it, Choice wouldn’t let him buy it, they could get it for cheaper. We wait another week for the part to be mailed to our house... Call tech when it comes. Technician won’t come out to install it because he wasn’t getting fair pay from Choice. I’m on the phone with Choice trying to get him more money, finally settled it for him. They all agree on money (why this is my job I have no idea??). He comes out the next day and it’s the wrong. Freaking. Part. We needed a whole motor, Choice ordered us just a part of one since it was “cheaper”. Technician ends up quitting because he’s sick of it all, and we now get to start the process all over again with a new technician who has to “diagnosis” it himself. Never have I been more angry with a company. Stay away. They suck.

    In this case technician came at my home and he check refrigerator and he just told us that compressor Is not working. After two days, I received mail from Choice Warranty, "Your claim is denied. It has been determined that the refrigerator is not cooling properly due to a refrigerant leak, but we never see this problem, there is regular we took water from refrigerator".     I had a claim for my garbage Disposal... The first appointment I had, nobody showed up and I called the company and they said they don't do work for you guys because they don't get paid.... After a few days I received another appointment during a time I told your customer service person I would be on vacation. I called that company and re-scheduled that appointment. Once that guy arrived at my home it was smooth sailing from there. It was replaced. The person I called when my first appointment didn't happen from your customer service was a bitch!     I called for service on my AC unit and they denied the claim saying it’s for corrosion. The technician that came said it had nothing to do with that and it’s from vibration with the copper. They are wrongfully denying my claim and the case manager is offering partial payment that doesn’t even cover half the job. Not to mention the unit is still under manufacturer warranty. So they don’t even have to pay for the parts. This is the second time they deny a claim. Don’t use them.

    My air conditioning stopped working on 7/18/19 during a severe heatwave. Choice said they had no techs available and I should find one myself and go through the "reimbursement" program. Long story short...the a/c compressor was shot and because of the age of the condenser unit, the whole unit needed to be replaced. The tech called Choice and they would let me know. The next day they needed to talk to the tech again. That happened and they would let me know.

    The next day they needed pictures. Pictures were sent and they would let me know. Next day they needed to talk to the tech again. I had the unit replaced at my cost because it was a heatwave and we needed a/c. Choice eventually denied the claim because I had the work done without approval. I called to cancel my contract with them and they offered me $350 for the A/C repair. I declined and they issued me a refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. All I can say is buyer beware.

    Beginning of 2019 we fully paid and got total plan for 3 years with this company as the sales person (Mr. **) was so convincing. We fully paid and extended up to 3 years believing his words and promise that all major repairs will be covered. He mentioned during the call, if an appliance needs to be replaced (if it can't be repaired), they will either replace it with same or similar model with same value. THIS IS A LIE. Do not fall for this like we did. Please review the contract 100 times as they do not explain anything. Our refrigerator started having issues since April 2019 and they sent a technician three times to fix it, finally he told the refrigerator needs to be replaced. My Samsung refrigerator is $1800 value in current market. Choice home warranty offered me $599 and they said they reserve the right to offer cash back instead of replacing the appliance.

    In their contract there is a clause (F-16) which states "We reserve the right to offer cash back in lieu of repair or replacement in the amount of Our actual cost (which at times may be less than retail) to repair or replace any covered system, component or appliance." But they do not tell what is "at times" and how they decide this "at times" or how they decide the actual cost "which may be less than retail" (which is nowhere closer to current Market Value).

    After doing an appeal, a case manager was assigned (Cheryl) and she said the final offer would be $750 for a refrigerator worth $1800 and this appeal cannot be escalated further, as company's CEO has authorized her alone for this claim apparently. I can understand that they cannot replace the entire amount, but what they are offering is unreasonable and absurd. They are not even ready to cover half the amount for the refrigerator. REALLY POOR, UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISREPUTABLE SERVICE from CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. Most of my food is getting spoiled for last few months and the conversation is still going on. I would not recommend this company to any of my friends.

    Worst experience ever. This company doesn't deserve even 1 star, it deserves a minus 5 star. I purchased home warranty with this Choice Home Warranty company hoping to save money when items broke down but went through hassle every time I made a claim with them. My first claim was for my heater, I told their claim dept. that I smelled electrical burn when my heater was on and the smell went away when I turned the heater off. So, they assigned an electrician to come out. The first tech they sent out was a no call no show on the appointment date. The next day, he came out and couldn't find anything, but my problem still occurred, so I called and requested to cancel my service but was convinced to stay as their resolution manager agreed to send out another tech at no cost.

    The second tech still couldn't find anything because the problem was not the electrical but the heater. The company told me to make another claim for AC and heater for another cost, so I did but this time I had my own tech came out. So, my tech found the problem, which would cost $1300 to fix. I filed for reimbursement, but it was denied. So, I called to cancel but the resolution manager offered me $400 check to pay toward the cost to get my heater fixed and asked for 2nd chance. So, I took the offer and stayed with them.

    Recently my AC stopped cooling, so I called and made a claim and received email that a tech was assigned to come out 3 days later between 11-3pm. I called multiple times and spoke with their supervisor, begged them to send me another tech sooner because I have small children in this Texas heat but was told there's nothing they could do. My husband had to take off work waiting to get our AC fixed. Again, just as expected their tech is not reliable. Got a call at approx 3:15pm that the tech will come out between 4-6pm, waited till around 7:20pm with no call no show again. So, decided to get our own tech to fix the AC as we could no longer endure the Texas heat of >100 degree. Then at around 7:30pm got a call from their assigned tech asking if I still wanted him to come out (he was an hour away from our house, so I said no). We paid to have our AC guy came out and fixed it in 1 hour.

    After this same terrible experience with them, I decided to call to cancel but their resolution manager again tried to resolve the issue by having me file for reimbursement, which I did. And as expected, it was denied because I had my AC fixed before receiving their approval. I had enough of their unreliable service, so, I called to cancel and was told that because I terminate the contract early, I had to pay $50 fee and all the money that they paid for all claims, which total to be $465 ($400 from the compensation for the heater claim and $65 for when they sent out the 2nd electrician tech, which was supposed to be free). I should have cancelled this company right from the start but agreed to give them a 2nd chance. So disappointed with this company. So, beware of this Choice Home Warranty company.

    In April we began having a problem with our gas hot water heater staying lit, so we called Choice to send out a technician. The repair person concluded that the controller was going out and due to the age of the hot water heater the entire hot water heater. Choice refused to replace the hot water heater because they claimed that the tank was leaking and that a water leak is not covered in their plan. I protested their refusal and during a phone call with one of their case managers I was told that Choice would not replace our hot water heater and that if we wanted another plumber we would be required to pay the plumber from our own pocket.

    I called the plumber who had initially come out and they said that Choice would not return their calls. The plumber that they used in our area told me that as of June 2019 they would no longer work for Choice Home Warranty. Fast forward to later May-early June 2019, I called Choice and spoke with the same claims agent who now sang a different song. Now she admitted that the tank was not leaking and that they would send us a check for $350 to replace the hot water heater and that we were to have it installed professionally and they would pay the labor. Now Choice is refusing to refund us the cost of labor.

    Beware of Choice Home Warranty because they have liars working for them. All of the people at Choice that I have spoken with talk over the customer and they (CHW) try to dominate the conversation by not allowing the customer to protest their unfair business practices. Now we will have to sue them in small claims court for the $249 installation charge. I'm serious. We are going back to the warranty company that we had before Choice.

    The first claim we had was that water was leaking from under the kitchen sink. The miscommunications back and forth made me realize how unorganized this company really is. It took 6 days for the contractor to finally come out and look at it, and you have to pay a fee on top of the $1500 we paid to Choice Warranty for the package. When I followed up at a later date, they said they never rec'd a report back from the Contractor and that they don't follow-up unless the customer asks. The 2nd claim we had a leaky AC. We explained that we needed someone out there the same day as we had a new tenant moving in at 3 pm. They told me they're not an emergency service and that we have to wait 24 hours to hear back from them. Of course we couldn't wait (like new tenants... hope you're ok with a leaky AC). So they explained I can hire my own technician, that he would have to call the 1-800 to get a pre-approval after a diagnosis before fixing.

    Realized after they gave me the wrong 1-800 for the technician so had to make calls back and forth (you get the picture), then they wanted to review the case first... so no immediate answer to the technician which meant if he had to come back, we lose our $75 service call as it wouldn't then be applied toward the fix. Shortly after I rec'd an email; they declined the claim saying that a float switch isn't an original part. These people do not stand by their word when they sell you the product. They are a complete farce! Cheaper and a lot easier to hire your own contractors direct.

    Last Thanksgiving I was without heating for five weeks. The first Tech to come out said he re-wired a short and left before the system came back on. It did not come back on. It was the evening before Thanksgiving and I could not reach anyone until the Monday. It was several days before another Tech came out and he reported that a motor needed to be replaced but he needed approval. After several more days it was approved and ordered but could not be overnighted and had to go out for quote, approved again and finally put on a delivery truck.

    After five weeks of under 32 degree temperatures I finally had heat again. I called every day during this period. No-one I spoke to was of any help. No-one would forward me to a supervisor or manager. Emails were not responded to. Now they won't leave me alone trying to renew my contract. I have blocked every call and still get emails every day. Not once did anyone apologize. I had to go out and buy an electric blanket and space heaters. I have been a customer for at least 12 years and only every made a couple of claims before. I have never been treated with such disrespect. Luckily there were no elderly or young children in the house or something terrible could have happened. Do not use this company. All they want is your money.

    Why is it BBB have numerous complaint for Choice Home Warranty? All reviewers on the BBB site gave Choice Home Warranty one star. I don't know where all the 5 star reviews here, came from. I wonder if any of the reviews were verified? I asked for a refund of my prepaid payment (a discount offered for making a one time payment for three years) because I was dissatisfied with their services. My calls to them were dropped\disconnected and I became frustrated. My husband was furious when he discovered I was getting nowhere with my complaints.

    The customer service representative my husband spoke with told him the claim was approved and that we should receive a check within two weeks and no later than 30 days???? We are confused because two representatives said the claims were denied. We have two properties that are insured and claims were filed for each. We don't know which claim was approved and which denied..?? Beware!!.. As far as I am concerned this is a questionable company in every aspect. Before you buy a warranty you should read all of the reports that are posted on the Bureau of Better Business website.

    We paid for full coverage and have had nothing but setbacks from this company. Our first issue was with our dishwasher when we first moved in. The dishwasher was leaking profusely so we called and it took 2 days of us repeatedly calling for them to send someone out. We paid the $60 for the technician to come out, look at it and say, “I don’t handle this.” After calling the company back they kept giving us the runaround and we ended up spending $20 to replace a hose ourselves. Our next, and biggest issue was with our water heater. When we purchased the policy we were told that if it couldn’t be fixed it would be replaced. When our water heater went out we called and they had someone here within 24hrs who said the tank needed replacing.

    Over the next 3 days Choice Home Warranty gave us the runaround, wouldn’t answer any questions and said, “They would get back to us”. They never did and on the 3rd day we called and they said that there is an exclusion to the replacement of water heater tanks. Customer service is spotty at best. They do not use reliable technicians and the loopholes in their policy are not worth the money they suck from you. All things considered, I would never recommend this company to anyone.

    Dishwasher was leaking water. This was isolated to be caused by the line that connects dishwasher to plumbing system. Choice sent a technician to our house to fix it. In the process, technician caused the dishwasher control panel to fry and stopped working. We know this for sure because he turned it on to drain bad water to dishwasher. But then after he tried to turn it on again, it would not come back. After repeated attempt, neither technician's company or Choice has agreed to own up to breaking our dishwasher. We are left to carry the burden. I would cancel my contract.

    I have had Choice Home Warranty since the first of this year and had my A/C covered by them. It was not functioning 2 weeks ago and had put a claim into them for repair. I was told by the technician that it needed to be replaced and contacted Choice to approve it. They did not! There are all kinds of exclusions and they said I was not covered for a replacement. You had better read the fine print, which I did not. Stay away from them!

    CHW warranty policy states they cover plumbing inside your home. I have a 15 year old home that developed a water leak 3 weeks ago. They are denying the claim due to an "installation error".     I have made 3 claims in 2 years. Two claims were devoted outright. Third claim, after spending lot of time, got them 4 to pay for half of the oven range. AC compressor was denied, due to lack of maintenance. I used keep the surrounding areas clean, do regular maintenance. The other claim denied was the water heater. I don't see any point in paying for the useless warranty. They routinely deny most of the claims, citing lack of maintenance as the reason.

    Too bad I can't leave negative star review for this company. I filed 2 claims with this company and both claims were denied. I had extra coverage due to pool. With one claim they refused to repair pool heater since what they say is electronics in pool heater are not covered which BS considering that the primary issue with pool heaters are always electronics.

    Second claim was about GFI circuit keep popping in the garage and they refused to repair that as well since the company stated that they need to run wire trace since they are not sure what causing it to pop. FYI if GFI circuit is getting triggered that means that there is a short circuit somewhere and wire trace is necessary to figure out what is happening. I only have one question. What exactly are you guys covering since every single time you deny any kind of repair? This is the worse company ever and feels like a complete scam. Now I'm requesting my money back since it will be much cheaper to fix all the issues yourself than even bother with them. Don't waste your money or time with them. Btw if you look closely at their agreement they DO NOT COVER ANYTHING.

    Updated on 07/27/2019: Got this home warranty in Jan.2019, I didn't get my policy for at least 2 month afterwards which at this point it's too late in their book to cancel the policy because in their terms and conditions you don't get refund after 30 days. So I'm 7 month in and my AC go out on Sat. Oh I forgot this is a 24/7 company right. No answer left a message, no response so I call back the next day. No response. Called on Monday to be told I could get my own tech and they would refund me, after speaking to the tech they decided what the tech said wasn't the cause so they said it was rust and corrosion. Well have anybody seen an ac or any appliance that's 19 years old not have some. Well after been sold on all my appliances are cover nor of them are cover. I paid $1050 for warranty and the only repair I was offer $300 to help me out he say. Do not buy this warranty. It's a scam.

First you cannot get intouch with anyone and when you do get in touch they go to the terms and conditions and use the 1st reason they can not to do the job and tell you if you get it fixed on your own you default even getting a refund. So you set in the heat in texas mind you I'm undergoing radiation. But all you are worry about is ripping people off. I paid to have full coverage and the sale person assured me that I'm covered no matter what and this is what I paid a $1050s for. 3 days and no telling how long for an appeal {really} I paid for service to get nothing.

    In general I am pleased with the service BUT I have a problem with their local contact, CAVIN'S A/C. It is difficult to talk to them and coordinate the service. If a non function it happens on a week-end, forget it. I finally contacted CHOICE directly and they gave me the number of a different company, BREEZ HVAC, LLC and he was attentive, efficient and really good. With this second choice I was very pleased. What I learned is that they may recommend a company as first choice BUT you don't have to use their first recommendation if you don't like them. You can contact CHOICE and get a second company to do the job.

    I was very reluctant to get involved with a warranty company. I have heard endless stories about how they try to get out of doing the job. All roses when they are trying to get out to join. Once you sign up it changes fast, no response slow to get back to you and when they do they look for and excuses not to do the job. My air conditioner quit in a heat wave. I called. They gave me a work order # and told me they would contact a company to service the unit. A few hours had passed when I recovered a message that because of the heat wave no one was available in a timely amount of time. So they told me to call any one I might know to service the unit and CHW would reimburse me for the cost. They were on top of the problem from the first call.     They are such a SCAM!! They have way to many exclusions and they will get out of fixing or replacing everything. DO NOT USE!! I lost over $210 canceling. They kept lying from the start. They overcharged my card, they gave me the wrong contract, and first claim I made they were, "Look at section "". It's on the exclusion list." That is when I snapped and cancelled my warranty.. They charged me for the one month (mind you the warranty doesn't come active until after the month) and they charged me a cancellation fee. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!! NOT WORTH IT!!!

    I gave 1 star because there was not a choice for negative stars. This company is a scam and totally disreputable. On May 29, 2019 a fan blade on our A/C unit broke and damaged the condenser coils. Our claim was denied because they said the condenser coils were not covered, however the damage was done by the fan, which is covered. We filed a claim and were assigned a case manager and number. We were told we would receive a call from her. After several emails and phone messages to her with no response, I was able to talk to someone who assured me that I would receive a call from my case manager. This person did say only “normal wear and tear” was covered. I believe the fan blade breaking on its own is “normal wear and tear”.

    I shared that my husband is a 74 yr old Viet Nam veteran with PTSD who was recovering from a major back surgery at the time the A/C stopped working. To this date, 7 weeks later, we have received no contact from our case manager or anyone at Choice Home Warranty. Do your homework and read all the extremely negative reviews of this company.

    I bought a 5 year plan with Choice Home Warranty. I have submitted two claims. Both have been rejected for outrageous reasons. The first was for the fan motor in the attic for my A/C unit. It was rejected and the reason was 'not proper maintenance.' This is a sealed unit in my attic both screwed and bolted tight. There is no 'proper maintenance' that a home owner can do on this unit. I replaced the motor for 999.95 at my cost.

    The second was again an A/C problem. The condenser went out on our second unit as it was working overtime trying its best to keep our house below 90 deg. (Phoenix area) Again it was rejected saying that the coil most have burned out due to improper care on my part. I keep monthly reports of changing filters, etc. Other than that with both of the claims, the repairmen said that there was no maintenance process that I could have done to prevent the problems. Choice has great advertisements with George Foreman. Don't believed a word of it. Go online and read reviews. They are terrible. I only wish I had done more due diligence. This business is in the business of taking money and not accepting claims.

    I had home warranty before and when a item couldn't be fixed it was replaced. no problem, It's part of what I pay you for. Now my appliance can't be fixed and you want to buy me out. I don't think that's right. It should then be replaced with another close as possible to the kind I have. It doesn't even have to be the same brand, just similar to what I have. I think it's unfair to try to buy me out when you're supposed to replace if repair not possible.

    The rep on the phone was a well trained good sales person. However coverage information he states is missing important facts. I purchased total coverage policy and supposedly it warrant either repair or replace it. After the purchase we got the policy and it has exclusion on almost all items. Garage doors, other than motor. Not sure what it covers. In fact the exclusions are extensive on all items. The detailed exclusion should been available to buyers prior to purchase.

    When we found out about the problem with the AC the day yesterday, I was very worried especially after I read all the negative reviews from other home owners who had similar issues with their AC's! However, we were extremely happy with Choice Home Warranty Customer Service and the service contractor, Premier HVAC Mechanical; within 15-30 minutes of my call yesterday, a claim was generated and an appointment was scheduled for Monday July 22.

    I knew a lot of people have been having AC problems due to the heat wave, so I did not expect to get an appointment sooner. However, to my great surprise, Oscar the Tech from Premier HVAC called me before noon and said he has a slot available right away and can come to check it; since I was at work, I told him I could not, but I will be home about 4:30 if that works for him; he said he can't promise, but he will try his best if he is done with his other service calls; we were very happy when he called about 7:30-8 and said he can come by; as promised, he came and checked everything, diagnosed and fixed the problem within an hour. Thanks to Oscar and CHW, our daughter had a nice sleep after suffering badly the night before! I can speak about my experience, and I will definitely recommend CHW to my friends and family.

    Do NOT purchase a home warranty from Choice Home Warranty! It will be a huge waste of money!! Their warranty is written to absolve them of any actual coverage! We were provided with a one-year warranty from the seller when we purchased our home. We opted to pay for the optional coverage on our well pump ourselves. Their warranty on the well pump includes “all of the components and parts of the well pump utilized for the main dwelling only except” and then goes on to exclude all of the components & parts!!

    After being in our home for about six months, we started having problems with our water while in use shutting off for about 30 seconds and then it would go back on. We contacted Choice Home Warranty. They set-up a service call for a plumber to come take a look at the problem. We took a day off work to be there for the service call, paid the $65 service call fee and the plumber was there for about 5 minutes and didn’t do anything about well pumps so he just changed some settings on the gauge. He knew nothing about well pumps!!

    We called Choice Home Warranty back to tell them that we were still having the issue. They told us that they would schedule another service call and that we would need to pay the $65 service call fee. They did finally decide to waive the fee since they had sent an incompetent contractor the first time. We took another day off to be there for the service call. The contractor NEVER SHOWED UP!!

    Then CHW scheduled a service call with another contractor for another day. The contractor called to inform me that they will no longer being doing service work for CHW because they never pay for the service calls! Everything is always excluded from the warranty and then the customer is unhappy because they have to pay for the repairs. Therefore, he wasn’t going to be coming after all. I have been reading other reviews that vendors refuse to work with them because they never get paid. We called CHW to tell them this and they scheduled another contractor to come out.

    So, it is now the 3rd day off of work to get the repairs made. The contractor came out and diagnosed the problem immediately. His office then called CHW to get approval to make the repairs. They denied the repair work stating that it was excluded from our warranty. Needless to say, we had to pay the $425 to get the repair made as it needed to be fixed. The home warranty states that it excludes all of these parts; however, they should cover the labor to repair (as that is not listed as excluded)... they REFUSE to do so!!

    What good is a warranty that doesn’t cover anything? Do NOT waste your money on this warranty without first reading the list of exclusions which is most everything!! It will not provide you with “peace of mind” but rather a huge headache for thinking that you had a warranty that would cover repairs!! Needless to say, our dissatisfaction with Choice Home Warranty is immeasurable.

    I have been with American Home Shield for four years and I had a service man out on 6/17/19 to look at the glass on the inside of the oven door that cracked. The service call was 100.00. They just informed me that it would not be covered, so for one month I have had no oven.     I just signed up for Choice Warranty and printed out the hard copy of the contract and noticed that the humidifier and ice maker is not covered. I was a previous AHS warranty user and I know they covered the ice maker and unsure on the humidifier. Hard to understand. In any event, I called and was told that the ice maker could be cover for $30 more a month, which I think is a lot of money and no to the humidifier.     My first claim experience with Choice was very poor. The technician came out within 2 days to repair the a/c system, however Choice rejected the claim. My condenser coil is leaking freon, and Choice says that "acidic materials in the air" have caused corrosion on the coil, thus voiding their warranty. The technician says it's BS and that Choice denies virtually every claim he gets for a/c repair. He recommended canceling the policy and getting one somewhere else.

So I filed a clam with Choice Home Warranty, and they hired Anytime Heating and Air LLC to do the work. They was scheduled to come out on July 17th, 2019 between the hours of 3:00pm and 8:00pm. A women name Alexa called from Anytime Heating & Air on July 17th, 2019 and said that they will be there at my residence at 8:00am on July 18th, 2019.     It’s a rip off company. I had taken their coverage and when my cooking stove downdraft broke down it took them more than 4 months just to fix that. The technician keep saying, "Oh part's backorder." Where else I could check online the part and was available within 3-5 business days. And this is nothing. They fixed the downdraft partially and fan switch was not working. They said, "Oh we don’t cover switch. You have to pay out of your pocket." All this they told me after calling them if not maybe 20 times and I am not exaggerating. How can you fix something and then say the switch is not a part of it and it’s located in the appliance. Not an outside switch. Please don’t use them. They are a rip off. They were recently in Fox 13 News for ripping off someone for their AC. You can watch it online. It’s there.

    Hi, I just joined today. My rep. or contact person is Jeff. I was just going to get 1 year service to see how this would work for me but, after speaking to Jeff, I ended up doing a 3 year plan. Jeff gave me several discounts so, I'm going to give it a try. Hoping not to have to use it but just for peace of mind. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I have several different appliances that were not on Choice warranty's list. They also had several things covered that I don't have.     I bought a Choice Home Warranty after I purchased my home. What a mistake. I fell for the words of the slick, smooth talking salesman promising to pay for all the major repairs in the home. I spent $2500 on the all inclusive contract which was supposed to cover all major systems, appliances and septic system. Fast forward a year and a half. My AC unit goes out on the guest house and they refuse to pay because it is leaking Freon and they don’t cover corrosion. WTF? They offered to pay $250 out of an $8000 claim. The customer service guy said he didn’t have a supervisor when I asked to speak to one. I opted to cancel the contract and get a prorated $1900 back.

    Since 2015 we have filed 8 claims with Choice. Of these, 7 have included full or partial denials. The partial denials involved denial of a large majority of charges. We recently had an awful experience with necessary repairs to our Air Conditioning system. After 6 visits from two different contractors, one of who did things that made the other suggest to me that they wanted to "sabotage" our system. Choice denied the claim for system replacement after asking for very little input from the contractor that made that determination. An electrical failure caused our compressor to stop working and the gentleman could not get it restarted. He reported a "short to ground" to Choice, which he informed me is a very general statement indicating an electrical failure.

    Choice informed me that a "short to ground" was not the result of "normal wear and tear", thus it fell outside of the contract. I recently paid $8,000 out of pocket for a full system replacement, after paying the contractors that they sent to the house well over $800 for service that Choice refused to cover. One of the non-covered services was a Wire Trace that was necessary for one contractor to find and fix an electrical issue that the incompetent contractor created during the "repairs" that they made. Again, and electrical failure was what finally killed my system. Choice Customer Service indicated to me that the contractors that they send to customer's home do not work for them, so they have no liability for their work.

    They want to absolve themselves of any responsibility for the work that their CHOSEN contractors do when they are in your home. If you purchase a home warranty from this company you will fight for reimbursement on every claim that you file. Their approach is to find any reason to deny a claim, cite very vague contract language or "fine print" and then hope you go away. Buyer beware.

    Updated on 03/06/2021: Since Choice changed the way they do business by not proving a list of vendors, I was glad we had used Gator in the past with Choice. They are wonderful. Choice needs to go back to giving customer their choice of vendors because some of them are horrible.

He described the manner that we can use our own service people as well. There is no age limit on the electrical appliances and a/c unit. I had asked about upgrading to new models if replacement were needed and he explained that you could upgrade. He didn't use intimidation to sell the product but explained the product in great detail. Will recommend him to others.

    It took about a week for a technician to get in touch with me after I logged the complaint. A junior technician came to diagnose the issue. He informed me that he cannot fix the problem and that he will just run the diagnostics and report to the senior technician. He opened the door, observed that the light is and could not run the diagnostics since the refrigerator needs to be moved out of the shelf and he cannot do it alone. He went back and do not know what he informed CHOICE, my claim was denied. I am trying to engage another technician to come and have a look at it. All this was explained to the case manager and she promised she will record all this. I have no way to know if she did. Still dealing with no refrigerator after almost 3 weeks.

    I transferred my policy from one home to another. The agent told me my plan fee would lower when I moved. Of course this was due to the change in plan. I did not want to change my coverage and at no point did the agent explain this to me. In addition she did not change my email address so I never got a copy of the policy. I had automatic payments so I never thought about it again. This month my AC went out and I called to make a claim. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I FOUND OUT MY AC WAS NOT COVERED. Why would I take this very important item off my plan for a few dollars?

    I live in Florida and since it's July I had my AC fixed for $500.00. I complained to Choice and finally they implied if I had made a claim before having the unit fixed they might have made an exception. That is ridiculous as they would not take a claim telling me I was not covered. I offered to pay whatever difference in plan retroactively but to no avail. I have recommended several people to Choice and I will strongly recommend they change companies. This whole problem is due to the gibberish their agents spout. In my case all I wanted to do was transfer my address. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN THEY DO NOT BACK UP THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN IT IS OBVIOUS THAT I had a certain plan for years! Why would I ever change?

    Updated on 08/05/2019: I recently left a review on how terrible this company was, specifically the approval process. I explained how I'd paid for three years of service at the onset of the contract and then to not get approvals on big item (furnace, AC, etc.) and to hear "we don't cover that" so many times. A supervisor responded to my review here and said someone would be contacting me. Guess what? No one ever called which is why I returned to this space to give an update. In my opinion, the company responded so readers could be led to believe they were resolving my issue WHICH THEY WERE NOT. It continues to drive my point of this company being terrible! They make you believe you have all this coverage until something major happens. Take it from me, GO WITH ANOTHER WARRANTY COMPANY or buy extended warranties from the manufacturer of your appliances.

    Original Review: Paid for three years of service because of the GREAT approvals they give on appliances (according to them). Read some reviews and thought this was a good company to trust. NOT! A/C went out and it wasn't covered... Why? They said it wasn't normal wear and tear. Well what was it, I had the unit (without fail) for more than 12 years. I was told the compressor overheated and it was covered. My technician didn't say it overheated, they said the compressor failed. On over-the-phone tech with the company decided the compressor went out because it overheated which wasn't covered. No second person came out, no testing was done to validate that reasoning... Simply a denial.

    I appealed and got another department who did nothing, not only did they do nothing they were rude. I've realized with the company they approve and fix "minor" appliances and nothing major. Why do I feel like that? Because my furnace wasn't covered. Because my A/C wasn't covered. Because my home attic fan wasn't covered. What was covered? A broken stove burner (when I asked how much it cost to repair they told me $270... I paid $45 for tech fee and I surely could've paid the rest for such a small fee, I need major appliances covered.). From my personal experience, I couldn't recommend this company to anyone I cared about.

    They denied our claim for our HVAC, because they said there was a leak due to rust. My husband was with the technician while inspecting the unit, and there was not a leak or rust. The motor to the fan was shot. They would not provide a copy of the inspection report when we requested it.

    My air conditioner has been broken since Friday. Called Choice. The tech came out, said he fixed the problem. 20 minutes later had to call him back because the air start blowing hot. He came back. He did not even go back to the unit. He stayed from the driveway and told us he needed to get some other parts. The next day came. He didn't call us back, after many hours we had to call him. I called him to find out what time he will be here. He said he will be here at the end of the day. I called him back today again. He said he will be here between 2-6.

    Called Choice about that. He told Choice he will be here between 6-8. I have been sleeping in this house that is 90 degrees for the past 3 days with a baby and a 6 year old. This is unacceptable. I didn't expect to be treated this way. I keep on getting pushed back with this tech. While my.blood pressure is out of control because of the heat. Since this has been going on for a few days now I should have been the first customer to get attended to. Very dissatisfied with the tech and Choice.

    Worst service and no responsibility on the services. I have a dishwasher not fixed for more than 1 month and Choice warranty is not taking responsibility to get it fixed. After 1 month they are not transferring to different technician which I don't know how many more months to get it fixed. Be careful as they will scam on high cost equipment like HVAC units.

    We were sold a home warranty that included air conditioning system. When we submitted a claim they assigned it to an appliance repair guy. They gave us a 5 hour window as to when he would arrive. After trying several times to contact the guy to confirm appointment time he finally answered the phone and said he would be there. He pulled up 2 hours late in a small truck with no signage. He came in with no tools to work with. He did not even take the cover off to diagnosis the problem. He wrapped a piece of black tape around the pipe and said he would order part and come back tomorrow. He was here approximately 10 minutes and collected $75. After he left I realized he did not tell me what time he would be back. I called and he told me he would told me he had to submit his report to replace the condenser coil and he would call me back with a time.

    I never heard back from him, so I called CHW and was told that the claim was under review and it would be Monday before a decision is made. I called the warranty place this morning and was told the claim was denied due to rust. The serviceman never took the panel off to see any rust on the unit. I could tell that this was normal practice of CHW because the agent (Deon) was reading off of a script.

    I only wish I would have read the reviews before choosing them, because I never would have wasted my money. I have read several customers that have had exactly the same problem. They were also told that they would not honor the contract due to rust. They sold us a bunch of lies and I plan on being this company's worst nightmare. The first red flag should have been when I found out that they are not a member of BBB. I still will be filing a complaint a on them and their serviceman (Accurate Service Company of Tulsa OK). If they think I will be abiding by a 3 three contract they must be crazy. Let them take me to court and may the truth be known. This place needs to have a class action suit brought against them.

    After submitting 3 claims since I signed up with Choice Home Warranty, I have been very disappointed with the Claims Department response time, often waiting over a week before I am able to get a live person to return my call, if they respond at all. Have repeatedly left voicemail messages as well as sending emails. I finally received a callback today denying my latest claim even though the claims specialist admitted to having no technical background regarding my repair. I personally feel the company is disreputable and will find any bogus excuse for denying a claim. I have used other home warranty companies in the past and never had a problem but thought I would try Choice Home Warranty for my new home due to their supposedly good reviews. I sincerely regret that decision now and have canceled my contract with them.

    Choice warranty advertise through my website and I thought it was such a great deal for all my rental properties. Unfortunately my a/c went out and my rental property a/c went out at the same time!! From the time I made a claim and for someone to come out took 4 freaking days for both properties! On top of that my rental property is a town home and require an extension ladder which I told them in advance. The tech came out and was like “We didn’t get that memo, so we’re canceling this appt" and left.

    The next appt was another 3 freaking days!! It’s like 95F degree outside and we have no A/C for the last 4 days. This was miserable and unbearable. Not to mentioned that me and my tenant have to request off work to meet them in the appt time window. I wanted to cry with frustration. I called another ARS and they came out and fix both our props within that day. The ARS tech, even says Choice warranty was no good and that I just wasted my money. I'm glad glad I got both A/C fix and looks like I won’t be renewing my policy for next year.

    Do not try to get money back from them. Waste of time. We used only 8 months of the year and were told to get $100 back as refund when we sold the house.     As a customer, I have had 5 accounts with this company. My AC went out and they sent a technician who did not properly diagnose my unit. My AC unit and the outside unit was not covered. They gave discounted price for me to purchase unit- so I purchased. However- what do you know-- the original tech told them I had electric when I have gas, so this only further concludes that the technician sent was a shame and they denied my unit based on improper diagnosis. The company would not listen to me and delayed me getting the correct unit that I paid for. I have been without air since the end of May 2019.

    This company is the worst warranty company ever! Beware- they will send people who are looking for a check instead of fixing the problem. Ever since I have been a customer- going on two years now, I always have to have a recall because the quality of the technicians are not good at all. I am totally disappointed in this company. Do not purchase a warranty from them. The cost may low to purchase a plan, but when you really need them they will not help.

    As a homeowner, I sometimes depend on feedback from other homeowners when it comes to certain things; hence why I am posting this. I had to file my first claim, through Choice Home Warranty, for my central air unit outage that was five days ago and my unit is still out. It is above 90 degree temperatures and will continue to be this way over the next several days. Choice Home Warranty did finally give the approval for the repair to be made however there is still a portion of the Cross being placed back on me and when I question that I was told that my appeal had to be assigned to a case manager within 24 hours. Well, the case manager, did finally contact me via email and 24 hours later and two phone calls to her I still have not spoken with her and or have a resolution.

    Despite me informing them that my son has asthma (I have a couple of health issues, and one of them requiring an outpatient surgical procedure today) none of this meant anything to anyone nor was taken into consideration. I even contacted the technician to say to him, "If you have the approval can you please go ahead and just come and make the necessary repair? I will pay the out-of-pocket cost per Choice Home Warranty, and I'll just submit a claim requesting a refund". But the technician said he wish that he was able to come right away to make the repair but he was not able to do so because Choice Home Warranty would not allow him to use his part, they had to order the part and then he would have to use that part but that could take 2 days for the part to arrive.

    But in the meantime I already have had to spend one night outside of my home and from the looks of it I am probably going to end up having to spend the entire weekend outside of my home because I can't stay in a house with 105°+ temperatures. This company is a complete rip-off. You pay them every month for your plan but me and the first time you have to use it they send you through hell and back to get the repair done. At this time of the year and with the current temperatures, repairs of this nature should always be expedited and made priorities but instead it has been 5 days and again nothing. CH

    Our fan was making a humming noise and lost high speed. Dynamic R.I.C. electric was sent out and determined the motor was going out, and the fan couldn't be repaired.     I purchased the warranty up front for a new (previously owned) home that we purchased. Typically, I rely on our funds to support emergencies but wanted to try out the warrant specifically buying a previously owned home versus our other home purchases which were new. After six months, in a week time frame I had my AC stop working, leaky kitchen sink, and built in microwave stop working. Submitting claims for each of these were easy online and via the phone. The vendors quickly responding and set appointments withing 24-48 hours. The disappointment came when the fine print of what was covered and not covered by the warranty surfaced. For both the sink and AC, the warranty did not cover the required repairs so not only did I have to pay for the repairs out of pocket but I had to pay the $60 service fee in addition because it was a claim submission. The microwave was determined to be not economically repairable.

    I soon received an offer for $169 to replace a $1200 convection microwave oven. I declined that amount because according to the warranty they were to replace it with something equivalent. I had to go back and forth with an assigned case manager who kept telling me I didn't read the policy details and it was their discretion at the end regarding how much they would/could pay me for a replacement. She finally found a convection microwave on Amazon for $550 so bottom line she told me to take or leave a $400 replacement allowance.

    The next kicker was it takes 30 days to process and send a check in the mail to buy the replacement. So if you are willing to deal with these types of situations I recommend. If you would rather not deal with the fine print and requirement to dispute/argue to justify doing what is right when the fine print doesn't get them out of funding a warranty claim than look for another home warranty or just put a savings allowance aside to cover it yourself. We will be going back to this practice once the time frame runs out on this contract.

    My mother suggested that I should get a home warranty, especially with me expecting my first child and needing to ensure that I could be able to have comfort in knowing that there is someone I could call on with issues around my condo.

    Problem #1: The cost to have someone come out to visit if there is an issue. The service fee my mom was told she would would pay was different from what they told me. We applied around the same time.

    Problem #2: What they cover. They really do not cover anything. I felt as if I was paying Choice a service fee that is really a finders fee. Meaning, I could have found the companies they are sending out on my own and paid them a service fee. Secondly, I because they do not cover anything, you end up having to pay the people who come out anyways to make any repairs.

    Problem #3: Companies they send out do not care for Choice. I knew it was time to get rid of this company for good when I had an issue with the tank above my water heater. The company they sent out was a good company. Per usual, the man comes back and tells me they do not cover this issue. Then he specifically told me, if I had went with two other companies he suggested, my issue would have been covered. I appreciated this honesty.

    Problem #4: They never fix issues that they do cover. My mother has an AC issue and she keeps paying a service fee for them to send out a company. These companies never fix the actual problem. Her AC stopped working after this last service call. How many times does she have to call before she gets her AC fixed or replaced properly over something they do cover?

    Bottom line, of the recommendation of the person that visited my home, I am going to switch over to one of the two companies he recommended, as well as my mother. I even suggested this to my friends who were waiting to see if Choice was a good way to go. This was the worst mistake ever.

    June 28, 2019, our HVAC unit stopped working. We immediately contacted Choice Home Warranty (7:43am) to submit a claim and arrange for a service provider. We were informed that our claim had been submitted and once a technician accepted the work order we would receive an email and an automated with a date and time of our scheduled appointment.

    Five (5) days later and after numerous calls to Choice Home Warranty regarding the status of our technician we were told that we could use the Claim Reimbursement Process and have the repairs completed ourselves as long as we followed the process. During those 5 days we were provided with excuse after excuse for the delay as to why we had not been contacted (automated system, manually looking for a technician, etc). I even asked to speak to someone in the department that was "actively and manually" contacting companies offering my assistance in locating a company in our area and was quickly shut down and told that isn't allowed. The more questions I asked the more suspicious I became with this process of locating a technician. We live just north of Charlotte and could not believe a technician could not be located.

    July 2 we ended up contacting a company who sent someone out that day to look at the unit. The technician promptly called CHW and within 30 minutes our claim was denied. We promptly called CHW requesting further explanation and our claim was assigned to a case manager who sent us an email at 5:47pm requesting that we call her. We promptly called the number on her email and had to leave a voice mail message, we followed up with an email the next morning - no response. When we called to speak to her supervisor we were told she didn't have one. When we requested to speak to someone else they put us on hold and never picked the phone up again.

    Next day when we called we were told someone would call us before EOB - no one ever did. As of today (July 11) we have received no further communication from CHW. Our unit is only 2 1/2 years old and the parts were covered under the manufacturer's warranty - all they would have had to pay for was the labor. We had this policy for a little over a year and this was our first (and will be our last) dealing with this company. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

    I would love to provide detail, I don't have enough space to write all details. In short, I have a 5 year contract PAID IN FULL, Had the ac units serviced by a licensed tech every year with no issues. Made a claim two years into contract on my AC unit. They sent a tech of their choice, and then claim denied. Had 3, yes 3 of my own techs (which I paid for) come out and give diagnosis. All 4 agreed, unit was in great condition for the age (13 years) but sometimes it's just the age causing the the breakdown. So, I appeal, both in writing and several phone calls for two days, spoke to MGRS that escalated it to mgr. of claims. Finally after a week without AC in in AZ 110 temps, I decided I can't wait, and move forward getting a licensed tech to replace the system. Then and only then, (3 DAYS LATER) while I am having the system replaced do I get a call from the claims dept, (I did call 2x that morning), stating they can only offer me $400 in good faith.

    Said if I want to submit the other 3 techs findings, and all my yearly maintenance receipts, they will take it into consideration, but can't guarantee the outcome. Then I was told that even though all 4 techs determination was that the unit was old and lived its life, because I am having the unit replaced before they make a final determination, MIND YOU IT’S BEEN OVER A WEEK AND TOOK THEM 3 DAYS AND 13 PHONE CALLS AND 4 EMAILS TO GET BACK TO ME, They will not pay out the claim. I will say if they stayed on top of this and not make me wait 4 days to deny the claim, then 3 more days to get back to me regarding the appeal, this would have been settled. The claims specialist in charge of my claim stated she just got to my messages (3 days later).

    The bottom line is they drag their feet and hope you just give up. Yes I took the $400, IT WILL COVER THE OTHER OPINIONS AND SVC, but by no means is this company reputable. I am out $7,000 for replacement, and the $2400 I paid for this useless warranty. Not even worth the paper it's written on. BBB rating C-, I would give them a D-. Can’t give an F because customer service personnel are quite nice. NEVER will I recommend them to any friends again! claim# **.

    We purchased an older home with an older central air conditioner, that was working when we closed. Both the seller's disclosure and the home inspection service verified it was working properly. Two weeks later, the it was not cooling. We submitted a claim and it was immediately denied. We appealed and after getting the runaround for over a week, they again denied that it was working when we bought the house, because "the filter was missing", as stated in the inspection report. I doubt this company will be in business much longer, based on the way we were treated and their unethical games to avoid paying claims.

    After submitting a claim for what I thought it was a problem with my garbage disposal, they sent a technician who in less than 3 minutes told me that it was not my disposal but a stoppage. I was charged the $60 fee. The next day when they sent a plumber and they tried to charge another $60 fee. Tried to get the fee waived as I believe it is their job to detect the problem when you pay the initial fee and as a customer, I am not an expert on plumbing or garbage disposal.     I purchased the Choice Ultimate Plan that covers AC repair and upgrade. The home inspector said that the unit was working when inspection. When moving in, we realized that it stopped working. Choice sent a technician that said that the whole unit needed to be replaced, but knew that Choice would not cover it. Choice claimed that because the unit was not level, it was defective, even though it was working. They offered to finally pay $500, even though the whole unit replacement cost was $13000.

    Day 1: I created a claim to fix water leak in my ceiling. It was promptly addressed but my ceiling had to be cut open to fix the leak and I was asked to open another claim for getting the drywall fixed. Day 2: I called-in and asked the customer care rep to open a claim, representative opened the claim and assigned it to HRM Services. Usually the vendor calls to confirm the appointment but this vendor didn't call neither sent any emails. I stayed back at home skipping office and called the vendor multiple times. Initially call was not answered and when answered I was always told that they are reaching in next 30 mins. That never happened and when I called CHW about it they did not respond satisfactorily. All they said was that I have to wait for the vendor to respond.

    It has been 3 days and I haven't heard from the Vendor, when I called CHW about the same I was told to wait again. If the vendor is not responding how is it customer's responsibility and how long should the customer be waiting. This is very unprofessional and unethical, I'm sitting at home waiting for these people to show up sacrificing all other better things which I could have done in this time. Customer Care Rep Kiana [this is the name she told me] was not courteous enough to listen to me and when I asked any question she put me on hold, came back and said she checked with her manager and got the same response. When a customer is frustrated it is the responsibility of the customer care rep to pacify the agitated customer rather than aggravating his/her anger.

They said they declined the service order and don't do business with CHW because their program is so bad. $75 deductible when man walks in the door and only pay up to $100.     Choice Home Warranty (CHW) does not take care of their customers and they do not take care of their technician/companies performing the work. My air conditioner stopped working on Tuesday July 3 and I called CHW at 8 am to report the claim. By noon I had not heard from anyone so I called CHW to see if I could call the a/c company they sent out a previous time to ask if they would accept the work. CHW said sure as long as the company calls them to accept the claim. I called the a/c company and they said they no longer will work with CHW because they never pay companies for all of the work performed. I called a few other companies in my area and none of them were willing to accept CHW.

    At 3pm I received an email from CHW stating I could find a company to pay directly and CHW would reimburse me since they were having a difficult time finding a company to work for them in a timely manner. I ended up finally finding someone and a technician was at my house at 4:30pm on July 3. He told me the motor needed a part but all the shops were closing and would be closed July 4th so they would have to come back on July 5th to fix it. I told them to call CHW to give the diagnostic so they would reimburse me for the work.

    On July 5th the a/c company called CHW to give the diagnostics and after long holds CHW told the a/c company they would have to call them back to give the claim reimbursement number. A few minutes later I got an automated call from CHW stating that another a/c company would be coming on July 8th to fix my broken unit. CHW was not going to pay the company that already came out to my house and was ready to fix my unit that day. Now, I am having to pay out of pocket so I do not have to wait 6 days before CHW will attempt to take care of it.

    We are a new customer for our rental condo. We had an A/C issue while renters were present and the rep from the rental management company was out due to a death in the family and the other people in the office were unaware we had a home warranty. In order to resolve the matter they contacted their preferred contractor for service. When I became aware of the issue I called in a claim. The agent gave me a phone number for the contractor to call with the claim to get authorization for service. The matter was resolved pretty quickly especially since it happened the day before the 4th of July holiday. Thank you.
