    I am already worry free. This is such a comprehensive plan covering kitchen appliances to plumbing and ceiling fans. To have only one place to call no matter what is wrong is so comforting. It’s beyond words. I don’t have to try and call 3 or 4 different locations and get price quotes. Or try to buy the parts online to repair myself only to find out I ordered the wrong part and I can’t get that part anymore.

    Serrano A/C and heating originally said they would arrive in 2 days when my house temperature was over 90 degrees. After several calls Abel came to my house at 5 PM. He replaced a defective part and the unit started to work. There was a question if Choice would cover the cost since it was after hours.

    My AC/Heating Units went out (condenser, etc) and I was charged $9755 to replace everything because the units were builder's grade materials and failed after 6 years. I have had my Choice Warranty policy since I moved into my house 2 years ago. The first time I have a large claim, which is why I bought the policy in the first place, they refused to honor it. They are a rip off if you have a large purchase. They will pay for the little things, but for the larger, more costly, expenses, they deny your claims. Even the repairman stated that it was wear and tear which they cover, and they still refused it. DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY!!! You will be ripped off!!

    We purchased a home warranty through Choice Home Warranty in April (I believe) of 2019 - just after we bought our home. Around the first week of May, our fridge just stopped working. We called, a tech came a few days later, and replaced the mainboard. Other than losing all our food due to the days to wait and then waiting for the part for another day...pretty smooth transaction and we were satisfied.

    A month later the fridge stops working again. Same tech comes out and says it's the fan, not from his repair, and he wasn't going to fix the new issue because he had outstanding invoices from Choice that they haven't paid him on. Tech leaves and I have to call Choice back. Lost more food (again) since the freezer wasn't cooling enough even at max setting. New tech comes out a few days later, says it's the fan (we already established this), and has to order the part. Tech doesn't call back/return call for days and we have to call Choice back.

    Finally, a week later, the tech shows up with the "new fan" and "fixes" it. Now is when we start having problems with Choice. In short, I explain to them, rather than putting band-aids on a sore, just replace it with something comparable. I wasn't asking for some crazy upgrade or fancy model, just something like what I have. No, they offer me a $200 buy out. What am I supposed to do with that? Then I'm told that they will keep sending technicians out as long as it can be repaired.

    Late July/early August - fridge starts sounding like an airplane taking off. I call Choice again. I explain to Choice, again, that I'm getting frustrated and want a replacement. Same scenario, keep fixing. New tech comes out (different vendor) and states fan was never replaced. Appeared that the previous tech just oiled the motor. So the fan went out, again. Now the concern is the condenser being strained for so long...when is it going to go out. While waiting for the new fan (for real this time), I call Choice to discuss options. Mind you, I'm beyond frustrated at this point as we're nearly 4 months into this issue, so my "discussing" is sounding more angry.

    After much debate with a "resolutions manager", I'm told that I was correct, I bought the top tier warranty, which makes me eligible for a replacement (once the fridge is deemed non-repairable) for up to $1200 - which is a comparable model the one I have. Great. Tech comes out, replaces the motor. A few days later, loud buzzing noise from fridge every time the condenser comes on. Called tech directly to inform him and he says it sounds like the starter on the condenser. Said he'd be back Monday. I called Choice, again. Same discussion, same result. Tech comes out and replaces part. 2 days later, same buzzing noise...and here I am today.

    I just got off the phone with Choice and after all of this AND being told about the replacement option, I was offered a $389 "buy-out" for the fridge. What am I going to buy with that? A nice Yeti cooler? EVERY single rep I spoke to except MAYBE 1, was extremely rude, condescending, and acted like I was trying to get something for free. They spoke down to my wife and I and were extremely defensive every time we called in. We were told by the last resolutions manager (after I told her that we would file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau) to "go right ahead and file my claim, that we'll back to Consumer Affairs and counter your complaint".

    When we explained what we were told by the previous resolutions manager about the $1200 replacement, this new one told us she never heard of anything like that and we should read out contract. Yeah, she was right about that and I should have known better, but we were told upfront, "if your appliance is nonrepairable - WE WILL REPLACE IT." And, since I upgraded to the higher tier..."WE WILL REPLACE IT WITH AN UPGRADED MODEL." But, according to the latest resolutions manager, "We'll give you $389 because it's depreciated." If this is this the level of customer service you get with this company, then I do not want any part of it.

    I hate that I had to waste more time on this company to come here and write this, but I want anyone to know who is looking for a company that will actually take care of you once you really start having issues...this is NOT the one. Great service getting the warranty set up and for the first repair. Beyond that, absolute worst company (not just warranty company, ANY company) I have ever dealt with. Lesson learned on my part. RUN away from this company. Big nope for me. -1000 stars.

    They are a complete joke. They have loopholes for everything and do not cover anything. Their technicians are terrible and it’s been an infuriating process. For several big things in our house, we’re supposedly covered under warranty were denied. For example our furnace broke and leaked causing major issues In our home but the way it broke wasn’t was their way of not paying for anything. Their policy makes it seem like they cover it all, but their fine print is their loop hole to not cover a thing. Do not waste your money. I’ve never had such poor things to say about a company, but seriously one of the worst.

    Choice Home Warranty contracted with "Stay Cool With Rob" HVAC services to fulfill their warranty obligation to our policy, However, the subcontractors that they worked with were not held accountable and failed to fulfill the service. Then Choice failed to follow through with making sure the the repair was made and service completed. Choice Home Warranty does not seem to work with responsible contractors and these contractors collect the service fee without fixing the problems that are the very reason homeowners employ Choice Home Warranty. Hence, fraud seems to be being committed, which wastes the homeowners' time and money.

    My A/C unit was rattling and not cooling sufficiently. I opened a claim and was set up with a company. The company came out a couple of days later, collected the $75 deductible and said they just needed to top off my refrigerant and I should be good. The next day my A/C unit did the same thing. I couldn't get a hold of the company that came out because each time I called their VM said it was full or if someone on the rare occasion would answer they would say they'd call me right back and then they wouldn't call. I called Choice and told them and they said I could get another company but I'd have to pay another $75 deductible. Then when they finally came back out I had to pay $300 for a leak test because Choice doesn't cover that. The company told me that the condenser valves were leaking. I asked if there was rust and they said there wasn't but this is just how the end of life comes to an A/C.

    Choice denied the claim saying that they don't pay for anything that has rust or corrosion. I explained that it didn't have that and per the A/C company it was a mechanical failure leading to the condenser valve leak. Choice called the technician and then called me back saying he told them it was possibly 2 copper lines rubbing together that caused the problem and they don't cover that either. When I called the tech he said, no, that he said there is no 100% way to tell why it happened but that was one thing he told them it "could" be. I feel like no matter what they were not going to cover my A/C.

    Now, I'm out $4,200 for a new A/C and $375 for fees that Choice wouldn't cover. I've never had an issue with my A/C and I change filters monthly and have yearly inspections. I guess that isn't enough. Not sure what more I could have done but I am very disappointed with not only the company that had terrible customer service but how Choice collects my premium each month and very easily turned their back on me when I needed them.

    Updated on 08/26/2019: ON 08/17/2019 I contacted CHW about my hot water heating not working. They stated they would have a "technician out within 24 hours. Well, 24 hours came and went. I called everyday,at least once a day on 08/19,08/20,and 08/21. They sent me a email on the 08/21 stating a contractor was coming out between 11 a.m. and 3:00 P.M. At approximately, I called the contractor who stated, "They never contacted me, but can be there within a hour". When the contractor got here, he stated, "They dont make this water heater but will check into getting one." Never heard back from Contractor. I called him. He stated, "I cant wait 30 days to get paid." I called CHW, they stated "they were locating another contractor".

    I called CHW back on 08/22, 08/23/, 08/24, they stated "they were still locating a contractor". I told them "I would pay for the hot water heater out of my own pocket". CHW stated they "would reimburse me". Today I contacted CHW about the reimbursement. They stated, Since I installed the hot water heater myself they COULDN'T reimburse me"???? I told them I am filing a lawsuit thru the Maryland Attorney General and lodging a complaint thru the BBB.

    Original Review: They finally sent out someone out on 08/22/2019. Technician stated, "He could not make the necessary repairs". Called CHW back, they stated, "They were going to assign the repair to another technician"???? I asked, "IF the first technician could not make the necessary repairs, how was sending out another one going to do the repairs"???? NO RESPONSE!!!! ALL I got from the call center person AND the Supervisor was, "I understand your problem and am sorry"!!!! So, it looks like it will take another 5 days before the necessary repairs or replacement of the hot water heater is resolved, and myself and my family members can take a hot bath/shower!!!! TERRIBLE WARRANTY, and TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

    A contractor was sent to us by Choice and a few pictures were sent to Choice with an explanation of what the technician thought the issue was. Choice comes back and says the issue is not due to normal wear and tear and will not cover. We prepaid for the home warranty for 60 months. I told them after appealing the claim that I want to cancel their service. The refund for the next 43 months coverage had a deduction taken out for claims previously paid out on. Big SCAM. You are better off putting the monthly fees into an account for a rainy day. Contractors are not top quality.

    Had a problem with our Microwave, called CHW to schedule a service call/repair. CHW process was very easy and the consultant was very professional. Received, confirmation email that repair appointment was scheduled listing the name of the repair business and their phone number. This email arrived within 1 hour of our initial call. Within two hours we were contacted be the repair service and a date and time was scheduled. The next day the technician was at our house, determined the problem was a control board and notified CHW. Within one hour we received an email from CHW announcing the repair process was approved, and the repair service was given the go ahead. The only downside, the control board was a "Special Order" item. Outside of this glitch everything within the process was excellent, both from CHW and the repair service. EXCELLENT!

    My elderly parents purchased Choice Warranty's Total Plan in 2018. They submitted a claim for their A/C 8/1/19. 20 days later I have been on the phone with Choice 15+ times attempting to get claim resolved and someone out to fix the A/C. I have caught their reps lying to me countless times. Let's not mention the double-talk. I have now been told today that the claim has been escalated to "emergency" after I threatened legal action and that I will receive a call from a technician within the hour. The hour is up in 10 minutes. I'm not holding my breathe at this point. In the meantime, my parents have been without A/C in Oklahoma (100+ degree days).

    I received a denial letter stating. "Your claim was submitted on 08/12/19 and was assigned to Air Advisers on 08/13/19. After the appointment date on 08/14/19 the technician submitted details pertaining to your system failure. It has been determined that there is a restriction in the refrigerant line. This contamination of the sealed system is the result of foreign materials in the line and does not occur under normal wear and tear conditions. Please refer to your terms and conditions section A number 2; which require the system became inoperative due to normal wear and tear."

    I appealed within the 7 days allotted after speaking with the service tech this IS in fact caused by wear and tear. The case manager is denying replacing my unit as per the recommendations of their technician, stating this is not wear and tear that in the contract it states blockage of the drain line, however in the denial email it states this is a sealed system line not a drain line. I have not received a service report as I also requested. I asked for a detailed letter stating why the appeal is denied and they refuse to give it to me. We are senior citizens without AC with a heat index of 115°F on average.

    The appearance is terrible with Choice guarantee call because the air conditioner didn't cool enough. A technician came, took photos, did not open the air to see what happened, the only thing he said is that everything is clean, he also said something that seemed strange to me "that the coins had to have some ice to cool well". When the technician's report arrived, what he said was that my air had Air Duct Contamination and that is false. The ducts were replaced 6 months ago throughout the house, for this diacnic the insurance did nothing. Asked for a second opinion because this technician nor saw anything of my air and I charge $ 60.00 for taking photos of the coins that were clean.

    I opened a claim to have my AC unit serviced. I let a few days pass & called in because no one had called me back. I had to find my own repair company because CHW gave me the ok to find someone because they could not find anyone. Repair company came out, fixed the issue & clearly told CHW that system was old & changed a part. The claim went into review & then I saw it was denied. So not only did I have to find my own repair company, I paid $600 to have the system repaired & then CHW blames me for lack of maintenance which is not correct when cleans the system just a few months back & had it serviced fall of 2018, less than a year from when I opened my claim.

    On top of that, claim specialist reached out to me in early July. After multiple attempts on my end to get in contact w/ someone, I finally rec'd a vm about my claim almost a month later. The final determination was made on 8/15, about a 1.5 months later. During this 1.5 months, I rec'd multiple calls from CHW to RENEW my policy because it is up for renewal. So I can get a call back for take my money but NOT to get a claim approved! I am a publicist & will surely get the word out about this & NOT endorse CHW to ANYONE!!! Really disappointing.

    We originally called Choice Home Warranty due to a significant condenser water leak above the AC blower in our home's basement. The technician from their referred vendor found the water leak to be caused by clogged drain pipes and/or hoses which he indicated he cleared. He then asked if there was any other issue to which I responded that it seemed the house seemed to be excessively humid or moist when the AC was in operation and that the AC seemed to be working somewhat harder to cool the house this year versus prior years cycling more often than in prior years. (We typically have the AC/Heating system maintained once per year by the installing vendor as well as we change the air filter every six months. That is how we have been able to get 25 years of service from the system.) The Choice referred technician indicated he would get his gauges and check the system for any issues.

    The technician went to the compressor on the outside of the house and attempted to gain access for gauge connection and measurements. We heard a great deal banging or what sounded like a hammer contacting metal. The technician continued this effort for some period and suddenly something happened and I could hear a pressurized gas release that lasted for a significant period. (I immediately suspected the technician had broken a Freon pipe or some other connector.) Shortly afterwards, the technician came in with a part in his hand and said a prior service person had broken the valve away from the internal copper tubing. The technician’s claim seemed most interesting since the AC had operated for a year since last preventive maintenance with no problem.

    If a prior technician had broken the valve, we would have had issues with the cooling gas long before now. My concern is the current repair technician actually broke the valve from its connection and is now attempting to cover-up the incident. To deny a claim and now refuse to repair the AC unit which the Choice referred technician damaged making it inoperable is not ethical.

    When we bought a house we had the seller cover a year of Home Warranty. I chose Choice. It was a mistake. You have to scour the contract before calling about a repair as it is full of things they do not cover. They often send incompetent contractors: one told my wife there were no hot water pipes running to the master bathroom. They are not able to promptly service many calls - i.e, an AC going down during the hottest week of the year in Houston.

    We have had 1 of 5 claims submitted resolved: the claim was related to our dryer and replacing a belt and tension pulley - the dryer stopped working all together several days later. I have stopped wasting time and money calling them. The ice maker does not work, but I don't plan on spending the 65$ to have someone out and explain to me why the company won't replace it. My brother in law tells me his experience with their home warranty was worth it, so if you're buying a house, choose another. If you're just thinking about getting this to service your own house, better to contact your own contractors individually.

    Claim was submitted 7/5/19 after I had noticed A/C unit failure. Had to jump through hoops for approval process (several appointments, documents that units were in working order previously needed to be provided). All of which I supplied expeditiously. This meant I had to coordinate with my realtor and previous homeowner to obtain all of the documentation that CHW was asking for. On 7/19 my claim was finally approved... Mind you, I am still responsible for over $2,000 of the repair costs at this time! The HVAC equipment needed to be ordered so repairs did not commence until 7/26. My scheduled repair for Friday 7/26 morning was late (Multitask Repairs did not arrive until after 12:00 PM). Jonathan (my service technician).

    Upon installation of my 3 Ton condenser all of the refrigerant leaked out. Jonathan explained this was due to an improper fitting that he used. After recharging the system I informed Jonathan of a second refrigeration leak at the evaporator. He stated that this was just air escaping around a taped joint and that I should ignore it. Hours later after all of the refrigeration had leaked out, Jonathan now admitted that he incorrectly connected the line set to the evaporator and all of the refrigerant did in fact leak out. Jonathan also reused my existing line set on both units (evaporator to condenser). I questioned this as well, Jonathan explained that new line sets are not included in my installation. During the installation the insulation on the line sets was peeled off, Jonathan explained that insulation was not needed in the areas that I noticed it damaged and peeled off.

    All of the soldered joints and craftsmanship on this job look horrible. All of the supplied pieces have been taped into place to fit my existing air plenum and ducting (EVERYTHING IS INSTALLED WITH TAPE????). I explained to Jonathan that I was not happy with the installation job and that it did not look of professional quality. At this time Jonathan stated that he should just leave because Choice Home Warranty had purchased incorrect components for him to install and that fitment issues were not his responsibility. Jonathan stated that he was doing me a favor and my claim would have been likely denied if anybody else was completing the prescribed repairs to my HVAC system. I found his tone to be deceptive and misleading. I pointed out to Jonathan that my system now has no place to install an air filter due to the fitment of his installation, he stated that an air filter box is not included and will be extra for me to pay ($100.00).

    He kept reiterating that he is just trying to "help me out" and complete the installation quickly. I indicated that this does not excuse poor workmanship and his deception, I instructed him to install a filter box as this will be necessary for routine maintenance on the new components. Jonathan agreed that he would return on Saturday morning no later than 10:00 AM to complete the installation of a filter box and clean up the poor installation of my 3 ton evaporator. He wanted to focus his installation on my 3.5 Ton unit that served the opposite side of the house for the remainder of Friday evening. I noticed that Jonathan had to switch evaporators on the 3.5 Ton unit to complete fitment, I asked if this was the correct unit that I should be receiving and he urged me that is was (I remain skeptical). By the end of Friday Jonathan had made the 3.5 Ton unit operational.

    Jonathan arrived Saturday after 11:00 AM to complete repairs on his initial installation of my 3 Ton unit and install a filter box. Jonathan replaced a fitting on one of the refrigerant lines going to the evaporator and recharged the system. I noticed water seepage inside our Kitchen all around the 3.5 ton unit that had been running through the night. Upon further investigation, the drain line was not properly installed. When I asked Jonathan he stated that the drain was in this condition when he found it and that it should work fine now (more deception). Jonathan worked on the 3 ton unit until approx 2PM Saturday. After further investigation of my unit I noticed that Jonathan had now installed a filter box into the end of my cold air plenum (there is absolutely zero opportunity for air to flow through the filter at the point of installation, it is also on the wrong side of the evaporator).

    I called Jonathan and explained to him what he had done. He now started to explain that this was the only available point for the filter installation and that it was OK. I explained that in its current location there is no filtered air to the evaporator or furnace, I explained that this filter should be on the side of the return air plenum before the evaporator coil "Oh yeah", Jonathan stated, "I can return on Monday to look at it". I explained that I would not be available Monday and that he can come do additional necessary repairs on Thursday. At this point I feel as if I am held hostage to Multitask repairs until Jonathan can make the necessary corrections to the system. I am uncomfortable with the amount of deception and poor quality of service. This entire system was installed horribly. At this point I had requested that CHW send a different technician to correctly install my equipment.

    I had to meet with (2) additional HVAC technicians before repairs were approved. This entire time CHW was trying to send Jonathan (Multitask Repairs) into my home. I am in awe of their incompetence by now. R&W Heating & Air was approved to complete the necessary repairs on 8/12. The technician had pointed out to me that the installation of the flue pipe on the furnace by the first technician (Jonathan) would have vented carbon monoxide into my home!!! By the end of the day on 8/12 R&W was able to make the necessary repairs to my equipment. I finally had air conditioning restored. This entire process has been an absolute nightmare. CHW will get you a low rate tech that will damage your home (they are still using Multitask Repairs). Choice Home Warranty should be ashamed to offer this level of service.

    1st Complaint: On 7-31-2019 filed claim with Choice Home Warranty. Washer machine was not working properly I. On 8-1-2019 CHW contacted me to inform me that iRepair Appliances was scheduled to come out on 8-2-2019. Technician arrived. Paid him $60.00 service fee. Tech informed me problem with compute panel on washer and he was going to forward diagnosis to CHW. On 8-6-2019 I received an email from case mgr. Salahudeen **. It is more cost effective replace washer than to repair. I will receive a check for $350.00 in 30 days.

    I stated to him I could purchase a washer for $350.00 and my washer was a top load Whirlpool purchased for approximately $800.00 not including delivery and installation. I also stated to him I can’t purchase a washer of any brand for $350.00. He told me he can only give me $350.00 and was not responsible for delivery or installation. Do not use this company as I search the reviews for this company and the bad reviews are greater than the good reviews. I have concluded this company is a scam.     I purchased a 5 year contract with Choice Home Warranty and have nothing but issues. First it was to be 4 charges to my credit card for full payment. They have placed over 7 months of charges and I still have not been reimburse for all the extra charges. They have denied repairs because the part had the word valve in it and they do not replace valves. They denied repair of a drain because it was in the shower.

    Now they have denied repair of my air conditioning unit. Fan motor went out 8/18/2019 I turned in a service order. Repair technician came out and determined I needed a new fan motor. Unit is a Carrier and we have a Carrier warehouse in town. Choice Home Warranty, supervisor Alexandro ID# ** stated they have to order the part and will not pay the $300 for the motor as they can order it for $200. It will take 3-5 days for the part to come in, then they will schedule a date to have it installed. I explained that I have severe asthma and heat and humidity cause me to have attacks. I further explained that the service tech had told me it could be repaired the same day. I was told they have the right to order parts and I will just have to wait. NO concerns as to my health. This is a terrible company to work will. I see Bad Faith issues.

    DO NOT TRUST CHOICE HOME WARRANTY FOR ONE SECOND!! After repeatedly being assured Choice Home Warranty would cover all appliances, AC units, furnace, sump pump, etc. in my home (I was manipulated into paying extra for better coverage and paying for a 3 year warranty), and that they would be prompt and professional and honest, I signed up.

    Over a month later, when my AC unit stopped working, Choice Home Warranty did not send anyone for over 3 working days. I called every day and emailed every day, informing them my children (including my 8 month old baby) were burning up in the 97 degree temperature inside my home (the weather had been over 100 degrees for months, and was currently 107 degrees), but only got answering machines and automated emails telling me they were "working hard to get a tech". Never got a call back or email from a real person, and even direct lines to the salesman, etc. were ignored and never responded to.

    After the third day, I called to file a complaint and demand a refund of my $1,470 I had paid them. They finally answered the phone! They put me on hold, and, magically, a tech was suddenly available. I told them I didn't trust them and I still wanted to cancel, as I believed they would dishonestly try to get out of paying for the claim. The manager repeatedly assured me they would take care of the claim, and he pressured me into staying with them and paying the $65 service fee for the tech. He told me I could get a full refund if I was not completely satisfied after the tech arrived.

    The tech arrived and found the $500 blower motor had gone bad, and informed us that this should definitely be covered under our home warranty. The next day, Choice Home Warranty emailed us and told us they were denying the claim because "the blower motor was not working when you signed up for the warranty", which was a blatant lie, as the AC had worked just fine for over a month after we signed up for the warranty. The tech was even confused, as this was as blatant and crooked a lie and action he had seen a home warranty company pull.

    I called Choice and demanded my money back. They refused to give me a refund... They created a bunch of "fees" etc. to rob me of hundreds of dollars. They didn't give a single care about my complaints, their blatant dishonesty, or the misery and suffering they had caused my family. They told me to sue them. Choice Home Warranty is the most crooked and dishonest company I have ever dealt with. They are evil!

    I purchased the full plan from Choice Home Warranty NOT the basic plan. Our AC Conditioner went out in Phoenix Arizona. They sent out a tech named Ricardo from Crispy Heating and Air. This guy looked at our AC and said the pipes are frozen and said they needed to thaw before he could do any work. He said we had to turn the AC off for 2 hours then left and said he would be back. Well the pipes thawed in 20 minutes in the summer of Phoenix. Ricardo (Rick) could have waited for the pipes to thaw, didn't even look in the attic. And this Ricardo guy was mainly interested in giving us his business card so we could call him for side work. Rick said it was because we had clogged filters and to leave them off. But the pipes still froze anyway and still NO cold air.

    Then we called Crispy Heating and Air and told them to send out a different guy. They sent out a tech named Nick and he said we had a leaking AC coil due to erosion and that he would let Choice Home Warranty know. Choice Home Warranty told us because the coil was leaking from erosion, they wouldn't cover the cost. But what about the $75 service fee we paid? They didn't fix anything!! We are SOL. And just got the $45 monthly free taken out. We called Parker and Son and they said the coil wasn’t leaking and was just really dirty and that we also needed to get the AC capacitor replaced. This Crispy Heating and Air doesn’t know what they are talking about. My guess is their techs aren’t certified. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CHOICE HOME WARRANTY OR CRISPY HEATING AND AIR!!!

    Horrible experience just trying to buy a plan. Have not even made a claim. They called me, and I bought 2 plans for a home we are selling and one for a home we are buying. A man by the name Mr. ** was so aggressive and rude when I didn't want to buy the locked in 5 year rate that at that point I literally thought I was being scammed by someone that was pretending to be Choice Home Warranty and was trying to get my money and information. That's how aggressive and rude he was.

    I asked to speak to a manager and the gentleman put me in hold and got right back on as himself as the manager. I am serious! Like a bad movie. I asked to speak to a supervisor that was a woman so I knew it was a different person. And she proceeded to try and sell the package to me and when I told her I was shocked as a supervisor she didn't care about my experience. Just wanted to keep selling. She hung up on me. So I called the company directly to make sure I in fact did have policies and was not scammed, the gentleman that answered was nice enough but I wanted to speak to a supervisor. So he also put me on hold and then got back on as the supervisor! He was still nice enough and insisted he was not the same person and what could he do for me. So I said, "You see my email, if your a supervisor then have Mr. ** write me a letter of apology and then I will believe you and not cancel my policy or write a review".

    I never got that letter. And I assume it's because he was just a salesman pretending to be a supervisor, some real Wolf of Wall street behavior, and just gross. So apparently Choice is the worst company to work for and trains employees to be shady like that in this day in age where we really could use some kindness especially from our American companies. Shame.

    I bought their warranty and waited for weeks after my water heater broke for them to come and fix it and they denied the claim. It's funny how when they sell you their crappy warranty they and say everything is covered no matter what but then when you need them they will say, your water heater is too old, lol WOW. I called to cancel and had a salesman about to cry on the phone when I called to call them to cancel the warranty and he was offering me half money back just to give them another chance, I know it was waste of time but I gave them a chance.

    It was cute that he compared medical insurance to their warranty and how they can't cover old appliances like medical insurance doesn't cover everything. I didn't tell them idiot that I work in medical field and he had no idea how bad of example he was giving but for few seconds I wanted him to feel good about his little sales scam. Few months later just a couple hundred dollars board on my AC broke and they denied the claim. What a waste of money and time. No hot water and AC for weeks because of these losers. I decided to spend money making payments by replacing whatever I need in my house and having a serious warranty instead of wasting time on money with these clowns.

    I "bought" the warranty when we closed on an existing home less than a year ago, a "premier policy" with replacement of repair coverage. 1. Two months after moving in our sump pump alarm went off. They were quick to respond with a plumber guy in a truck; he ripped into my closet wall to get to the pipes and suggested they were frozen. Oops, frozen pipes are not covered. Paid deductible and he left. 2. AC not cooling. Called and guy came out; says it's all working fine. Paid deductible and he left. Had neighbor's AC guy come over and fixed it in 15 min.

    3. Dishwasher not draining. Called and guy came out next day. Found failed parts, and he sent info to Choice. No repairs and no replacement. You see, they have a unilateral policy to "fix or replace" at their discretion. Also they have unilateral policy to "replace or provide cash" towards a new unit that I can purchase. They offered $177 for a new dishwasher (which barely pays delivery and installation). They asked how much I wanted for a new dishwasher and I itemized $550 at a minimum. They said $250 was highest they would go. Replacement policy? My **! We are taking the issue to social media and complaint lines like this, because it is my unilateral policy to do so...

    I have owned a home warranty (contract) with Choice since 11/2017 and have only had one small claim. Our Air Conditioner stopped working on Sunday around 4:00am. We live in South Carolina, and it is August. The daytime temps are around 95 with a heat index of 112 right now. My husband is recovering from Cancer treatments and has a problem with the heat. When I called and started the claim with Choice, we were told that it would be Monday before they could get anyone out to check the system. The technician came out, and then called us when he had submitted his findings to Choice. I called Choice, explained that this was rather urgent, and asked when they would give permission for the system to be repaired. I and was told that they would let us know by 7:00 pm what they would pay and when it could be repaired.

    After talking with the technician again, he explained that the system would have to be replaced and in his opinion could not be repaired. He said that it would take a day to obtain the system and schedule the installation (Wednesday). Around 6:30 pm I received a call from Choice (recorded on voice mail because we were out to dinner) followed by an email. Choice had completely denied the claim. They would NOT replace or repair the system. Oh yes, I fully intend to contest their decision, however, we are having to replace the system ourselves! I will advise anyone considering this company to do more research! I had referred them to my daughter. She had a similar bad experience and was also left holding the bag after paying over $450 for a warranty. I will be reporting this company to the BBB for sure. Their lack of professionalism in answering/discussing the issue on the phone should have given me a clue.

    Policy #: **, Claim #**. I have had a broken AC in almost 100 degree weather for longer than 72 hours. My case manager has not responded to my voicemails, emails or messages online. I called them several times and never spoke to the same person twice, all of whom gave me the run around. I still have not heard from my case manager. I have never been treated in such a disrespectful manner as a customer. More importantly, I received an illegitimate denial of my claim. I am sure other customers have had similar experiences. I share my thoughts/opinions in the hopes that other customers may have use for them or read this before entering into a long term contract with CHW.

    I feel like I was hook winked and that CHW had no intention of covering my AC at all. There are several broad exclusion clauses in the contract (many of which subsume the entire coverage of the policy) that allow CHW to deny any claim for almost any reason. It is likely that CHW claims the right to deny a claim under any of these for whatever reason they determine (the most likely of which is that they do not wish to pay, that is my guess). However, there are specific provisions in the contract that cover AC "components and parts." I read contracts all day and have seen some doozies. This one seems specifically designed to use boilerplate language to allow them to weasel out of paying claims.

    I could try to take them to court, but who wants that headache. If I did, typically, in contract interpretation disputes, the more specific provision controls. In the event that there is a dispute about the contract itself, at the very least, there is some ambiguity in the contract about what could/could not be covered because the exclusions are drafted so broadly that they would cover all kinds of items (i.e. "HWA has the sole right to determine whether a covered system or appliance will be repaired or replaced."). In this case, if this issue is not resolved in an expeditious manner, I will follow up on this review and try to take whatever legal actions may be necessary to rectify the situation, including but not limited to:

    1. Submitting a formal complaint to CHW.
    2. Submitting a complaint to the BBB.
    3. Voiding the mediation clause under the contract.
    4. Filing claim in small claims court.

    5. Suing under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act or other cause of action allowable under law.

    I hope this is helpful to other consumers to not give up! I suggest other consumers do the same because together we can change these misleading practices. In fact CHW was recently rebuked by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. Look for the story in USA Today. I will update this review as the story continues. August 2 - CHW replied to my review and stated that a person from the Consumer Advocate Department would contact me. It has been three days and I have not heard anything from them. So much for upholding the "highest level of customer satisfaction." August 8 - CHW requested additional information from me. At this point, I have been without a functioning AC for almost two weeks. I am debating whether to just bite the bullet and pay the money to have the unit replaced rather than deal with CHW any longer. Mind you, it is over 100 degrees here in Texas for the past few days.

    I signed up for a 7-year home warranty with Choice after they solicited me. Since that time they've failed miserably each time I have attempted to use the coverage. Deplorable service, NO coverage on most items, and outright lies during the sales process have been my experience so far. Most recently, my built in microwave developed a display glitch and doesn't show the time right. CHW is refusing to cover it, stating it is a "countertop" model (it's obviously built in) that they do not cover. I've already had 2 contractors out since June 26, over a month ago, and they lose their contractors' records and they never follow up for completion.

    When they solicited me, they told me that A/C repairs were 100% covered, including freon. That was a lie. When the A/C went out, they refused to cover the repair, the leak, or the freon, and they told me to attempt to recover the cost of the repair from the manufacturer. When my washer broke, they said they would cash me out since the repair would be expensive, but they would only give me $400 to replace my front-loading washing machine. I had to spend over $1,000 out of pocket to replace the machine, so my net loss was over $600 for that appliance.

    This company is comprised of a bunch of weasels who will lie and then NOT cover anything that breaks that is supposed to be covered. Right now I'm attempting to cancel the balance of the term of "coverage" and they're ignoring my refund requests. I plan to escalate my concerns to their president and CEO, although I doubt that my complaint will gain any traction. Basically I threw over $1700 away on what was supposed to be a 7-year home warranty but is nothing but a worthless piece of paper that I paid a fortune for.

    Choice Home Warranty is a sham Triumphant at cheating their customers. Please don't fall victims to the false and insincere information about HVAC coverage that Choice Home Warranty displays on their webpage. Our AC unit failed and Choice Warranty made up stories of a possible power surge to deny our claim even after 3 different technicians clearly stated the cause of AC failure was a grounded compressor which could be because of weather or manufacturing defect or even just spontaneous failure. And yet Choice Home Warranty just stuck to this made up story so as to use it as a clause for claim denial. They also will just avoid picking your calls once a claim adjuster has been assigned for fear of having to answer valid challenges to their denial and then they will make up lies as to why they can't accept the claim. Choice Home Warranty is a sham and doesn't care for its customers.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Our upright freezer stopped working. They said it was too expensive to fix so they offered us $345 for a freezer that even during the best sales would be at least $700!! I asked them to replace it then, the case manager just kept repeating it is under their discretion to replace or offer the "cost" value. He stated they no longer replace items..EVER! I asked for a manager and he stated he was the highest in the company... WOW. Answering the phone on a Saturday, that is dedication.     Called on 8/5 to report a problem with my heat pump not cooling, the exhaust fan stopped running. Claim was recorded incorrectly. Waited for a couple days of triple digit heat communicating with service either offering me the reimbursement process which is a total joke because all the contractors in the area will not work with your company from past experiences. After another I started to read some objective reviews and read where a man in Texas reported his A/C out on 7/4 with no resolution by 8/8. I decided I had waited long enough and called a local company who responded immediately, replace the capacitor and had my A/C running in an hour. CHW responded by saying that I should submit a claim for reimbursement. The company I used refuses to work with CHW and after reading many reviews I'm not going to waste my time to ultimately receive a denial to pay the claim for some reason or another. Totally displeased with my experience.

    Updated on 08/12/2019: Now this scam puts out that air conditioning is not covered. They reviewed me to their contract. Clearly covered and they wrote me to get a contractor to repair or replace if necessary as they could not provide anyone. Not only were they totally useless they tried to tell me they don’t cover AC systems. What an absolute joke these scam artists are. Once again anyone who uses them should have an IQ test. Their scam collects fees and cover nothing.

    Original Review: My AC unit failed. Called Choice Warranty. They could not provide a contractor to investigate and fix. Told me to get my own after 10 days without AC in 100 degree weather. I found a local contractor who investigated and indicated compressor had to be replace and could not be fixed. Indicated the problem to Choice several times. Cost $3000. Their solution was to void our contract and return the $450 paid for the policy. This company is an absolute joke, scam, and a major rip off of the public. There is zero coverage with these scam artists. Took 15 days to get AC back which I paid in full for. Before anybody contracts with Choice I recommend you first get an IQ test.

    A/C unit stop working and the technician came out to diagnose the issues. They explained the unit is old and no longer works. The technician sent all photos and explains to Choice Home Warranty that it is recommended to replace the unit. It took 5 days after several complaints from my wife and I to decline replacement. Their excuse or reason was abnormal use and not wear and tear! The A/C unit has only been used as it should to cool the home! No other damage is or has been done! This is unacceptable!

    We are quick to criticize when things go wrong. We should be just as quick to praise. Well here comes the praise! The whole process for filing a claim till the repair was completed, I am happy with. Like being able to file the claim online easy. And the email responses and updating the info on the claim is a very big plus. Only Item I had that was a little concerning was the sending of a feedback survey to me as soon as I filed the claim asking about my "Overall Experience" with CHW. I feel the survey needs to be sent only after everything has been completed. Which you actually have done here. Which is great, just don't send one as soon as a claim is filed please. (Just my suggestion). Other than that all went extremely well.

    From the very acceptable reply time with contact information you gave me for the CHW associated Tech assigned to repair my appliance, to the Tech's actual acceptable time line to come to my home and repair my appliance. The tech named John King with King's Appliance Repair LLC, was very polite, professional and knowledgeable. I was able to converse with him and go into more detail about my appliance problem before he even arrived for the repair diagnosis. With that he was able to bring the parts what he thought might be the problem with him when he came to my home. Saving time and money which is a very big deal to me and most people I know.

    I highly recommend CHW keeping his service for a repair choice. And the $45.00 cost for the repair I had to pay is a great reasonable price. Hope when it is time for me to renew my Policy I can still get it at that Repair Fee price. So anyways the Tech repaired my appliance with the part he brought, the same day and even gave me some pointers on keeping my appliance in tip top shape.     This company (Choice Warranty) exhibited every tactic to deny my air conditioner claim. Initially they blamed me for not maintaining the system. Then they said it was an old system, and they tried to negotiate a settlement amount that they would agree to pay. Finally, they stopped returning my calls altogether. My opinion is that they'll cover minimal cost repairs and replacements, because they can get a washer, dryer or dishwasher at wholesale cost. But when there is a big ticket claim, they try to avoid the claim...until you attempt to cancel. Then they try to please you with negotiations and promises to escalate the issues, or even offer to give you a few extra months of coverage. After a month of calling, in the middle of summer, I decided to replace my own air conditioning system (approximately $4,500), and requested a refund of the 3-years (prorated) of the premiums that were paid in advance.

    I called to confirm that my warranty would start on the day that was discussed when sold, after telling Henry (the person who answered the phone) what my issue was I was sent to another number that disconnected me. When I called back Henry acted as if I was bothering him and in the middle of me explaining what happened he again sent me to the dead-end number. I called again and got Sam ** Rep # **. I asked him to send me to Henry, he claimed he was doing that but I ended back in the same loop (I guess Henry just sent it directly to the dead-end).

    I called back again, got Sam ** again, I told him what happened and that though I was calling to check on my account I now would like to cancel. He told me I would have to call in the AM with attitude (would have been pretty simple to say the office was closed on the first go-around). Once I asked for his info, because Henry was dodging me and Sam was pretty rude, he said: "do what you want, it's all recorded anyway." Thankful I didn't have an issue with something at my home before realizing that this is not the company you want when there is a real problem in your home.     Just signed a renewal contract with Choice Home Warranty. What I find is that as long as your item need REPAIRS and it can be repaired, there is no problem with repairing it. When it is a big ticket item that needs to be replaced, they will not replace it. My water heater went out and although the invoice from the plumbing company states normal wear and tear they are refusing to replace it. I will never renew with this company or any other Home Warranty Company again. I left American Home Shield and signed with Choice because AHS would not replace an AC unit. These companies are just a rip off.

I get an email finally stating someone would come out Wednesday. Mind you, this is 100 degree weather in Texas, though I do have an upstairs unit working, so temps are around 82 degrees... Then service company did agree to come on Monday, but then failed to submit the diagnosis, but they just told me I need a new coil and Choice doesn't pay for these things due to a line restriction! I double checked my policy and nowhere does it say that a coil or a line restriction is not covered - anywhere!

    I wait and after several calls to Choice and the service company finally get an answer, a denial. Not due to the reason the technicians claimed, but due to it wasn't "normal wear and tear"! Now I ask you, how can it be abnormal wear and tear when 1) they admit in the denial this is a closed system 2) I had not one, but 2 other air conditioner professionals come out and state there are no leaks in the system (it had passed with flying colors on my annual spring ac servicing and inspection, didn't need even a drop of freon). They also stated that it was not "included" - how ridiculous as their policy specifically states all components and parts are included under the inclusions, then there are exclusions but a coil and a restriction in the coil is nowhere to be found in the exclusions! I appealed and then played phone tag with them until today...

    Originally I was told a Ms. ** would be my only contact, but when I'd call her she was always out of the office, and someone else I couldn't understand on the voicemails kept calling and I couldn't figure out the name or number to call back... Frustrating to say the least. Then when I got hold of her she stated she was the highest authority and they'd decided it wasn't due to normal wear and tear. How can it not be? I'm 60 years old. I have never even been in the attic where the coil is located. I serviced the unit as required and ran it between 76-78 degrees so no abuse of the system. When a system is regularly running and is a closed system, as they acknowledged, how can it NOT be normal wear and tear if something inside the system became dislodged and blocked the narrow portion of the coil?

    So they are denying and I'll likely need to take them to small claims court. Do not waste your money here. This is not the first claim they've denied and I've had to appeal. During this same time period I had 2 almost identical claims with American Home Shield (AHS) and they were great - fixed my rental home's ac and even replaced my oven, no questions asked when the part was no longer made, unlike Choice whom I had a previous claim with and when the part was no longer manufactured, they refused to replace my oven, but that is another claim and another story.

    So don't get Choice, get AHS if you actually want good service and a warranty that stands behind its word. Choice was the worst choice I could have made on my personal home. Will be getting AHS next time for me as well as my rental! So here I sit in 100 degree weather, more than 2 weeks later and still no resolution. Do not buy a Choice Home Warranty if you care about yourself and your family. Imagine if I had only one ac and it was hotter than the 82 degrees it is now inside my home... Would your family and pets be able to survive 2-3 weeks or more without ac????\

    Choice Home Warranty has some great salespeople and after having their service for 1 year and having a few smaller items taken care, they convinced me to take out three years coverage, paid in advance, to save money. Since that time, I had my microwave fail. After much negotiation, they barely covered replacement. Gave me $200. Then my water heater failed. They had a reason it was not covered, but again after much negotiation, they, out of the goodness of their hearts because I was such a good customer, gave me $300, which, of course, was nowhere near the replacement cost. Then my air conditioner failed, and guess what, it was not covered. They said it was due to rust, dirt and corrosion. I have my air conditioner serviced every year and had just had it cleaned and serviced a few weeks before it failed, which is a requirement for coverage.

    I live in Florida, so there was indeed rust and corrosion because the air conditioner was old -- the very reason I had taken out the warranty service. Even though my air conditioner service provider wrote an assessment of why it failed -- not because of the rust and corrosion as it had been working for years with it -- but because of normal wear and tear due to age which should be covered according to their contract, they refused to cover it. I have never been so rudely treated as I was by their customer service people who were more than happy to cancel my policy rather than negotiate an agreeable settlement. Due to all the hassles, no coverage for major items and the rude treatment by their customer service employee, I would never recommend Choice Home Warranty.

    Here are my 4 principles of Choice and below more detail on my experiences:

    1. Don't use this company.
    2. Expect to invest significant personal time fighting for every dollar of every repair. They have designed a system make you jump through hoops to get what is fair knowing a certain percentage of people give up.
    3. Expect Choice to be dishonest - they repeatedly lied during my most recent claim.

    4. If you do, don't prepay and don't sign up for more than 1 year

    I have had Choice for about 18 months and made 3 claims. First claim they sent a completely inept company, Flowertown Heating and Air, to my house for HVAC. If you google them you can see. So my first experience is they partner with the worst rated company in my area. The Second claim I filed for my dishwasher. They sent me a really positive email saying that I get a replacement dishwasher!! The value they put on this was $150 and they ask you to click a button online to confirm the resolution. Instead, after calling Choice and explaining to them that dishwashers don't cost $150, they cut me a "great" deal by offering me $300 within about 1 minute of being on the phone.

    My most recent claim experience has been horrendous. I had an HVAC issue and the contractor identified that the system was low on Freon and likely has a slow leak in the evaporator coil so he submitted the repair for refilling the Freon and to put in a sealant which would likely fix the leak. Choice denied the claim on 7/15, stating: "It has been determined that the system is excessively low on refrigerant and unable to cool the home properly. Under EPA guidelines a system that is reported to be more than 10-15% low on refrigerant must have a leak search performed to locate the failed component for repair". This is A FALSE STATEMENT. A 10 minutes internet search is all it takes to understand this.

    If you actually read the EPA guideline (EPA guideline 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, it only applies to units >50 pounds of refrigerant, which my unit is not. In addition, a separate EPA guideline indicates that sealant IS an accepted repair even if it were >50 pounds. I appealed the claim denial with Choice and they sent me to a claim officer with a bad attitude and her new rationale was essentially they just don't cover sealant repairs for HVAC systems (no mention of EPA guideline). Not covering sealant repairs is stated nowhere in the contract I have with Choice. My appeal was denied.

    Then I filed a complaint with the BBB and they got Choice back involved and AGAIN Choice referenced the EPA guideline WHICH IS FALSE. BBB basically did nothing and my claim was again denied. Choice did offer me $100 for my troubles when I threatened to quit, which is a joke. Also please know that if you ever want to cancel they deduct any value of past repairs given from your refund. For example, if you paid $1000 for 3 years of coverage and have a $1000 repair done on day 1 you will never see $1 if you wish to cancel.

    Our A/C stopped working in 90 degree heat. The first repair person they sent never showed up but told the company we had been “unavailable”. I have a RING recorded doorbell and Caller ID on my phone. They never called or showed up. So they sent another repairman - now 10 days after our claim submitted. He stated we needed a new air conditioner as our evaporator coil had developed a leak, not surprising as ours was over 30 years old. Choice Home Warranty then Denied our claim stating “your coil has been exposed to corrosive or acidic materials that have infiltrated the air stream and air flow throughout the home, damaging the integrity of the coil.”

    Whoever thought up that reason for denying coverage was brilliant. We do not and have never had corrosive or acidic materials in our home air stream (how are we still alive?). Be Careful - read all exclusions online under Terms and Conditions Section F (Not just the bold print coverages they email you). They have enough conditions to deny most every claim they want to.

    I contacted CHW due to my A/C not cooling my house in Arizona. They did not send a tech, Contract calls for them to provide tech in timely manner, instead emailed me to find my own. I contacted the same person that serviced my unit 2 months prior. He said I was low on R22 Freon. CHW, with no physical inspection or leak test done said it's corrosion, refused to pay anything. Called to try and resolve issue. Asked them to send tech out to find leak. They only offered was to pay half the cost of the R22 Freon, which by EPA directive is being phased out due to environmental concerns. AZ was expecting an excessive heat warning, so putting my family's health first, I purchased new EPA compliant unit. Filed request for resolution on my complaint. Got one email assigning single point of contact. Emailed him my issues with CHW. Over week later, no other contact from him.

    Do not waste your money! Had 2 incidences. First one was with my dryer. The guy that they sent out, was unprofessional. When he came back out to repair after getting the part, he was so scattered. I had to call him to see if the part was in, then we set a time. I called him 15 min into appt. time, and he had not even left his house! So I had him there at 9:00 at night.

    The next time was a leak by my inside A/C unit. They sent someone out, who said that the coil needed replaced, for over $1400. Choice refused to pay, because they do not cover leaks. The leak was supposedly caused by the coil. I was not trying to get coverage from leak damage. Turns out that I called my regular AC guy, who changed the filter. The other company never even looked at it! Problem fixed, all for under $10! Not sure where they find their contracted business, but shady to say the least.

    I went online and made a claim. Got an appointment in a few days. A company came out and found the balancer need to be replaced and they would turn it into the warranty company to find out how they want to proceed. After 2 weeks I checked online and my claim was closed. I called and they sent another company that said the same thing. Got a call a few days later from the warranty company that they approve the repairs and the company would be in touch to repair the machine. I call the company and they did not receive anything from the warranty company.

    I check online again and the claim was closed. Went back an forth a few times until I had enough and went out an bough a new washer myself as going to a laundry mat was wasting too much time. Going without an item that is cover for so long is not what I consider worth it. If it was my A/C in the middle of the summer that would have been even worst. I had total protect and am going back to them because they follow through with claims.

    I have called them 3 times. ALL 3 times they denied my claims. Once when I fought with them for an hour they gave me $400 toward a washing machine after offering me $200. BUT, the last 2 times they denied claims on my AC unit. Both were covered parts but they found some obscure reason in the policy to deny the claims. This denial cost me over $4600 to repair my AC unit. These are EVIL, BAD people who own this company AND the people that work for them.     I had reported an issue with my AC (second in less then six weeks). The first time part were ordered and took 3 weeks for them to come in. Also, there was a water back up switch that the "professional" disengaged. That cause water to overflow. The second time the "professional" contractor that Choice sent out said it was a maintenance issue as the water line was not draining. I objected to his conclusion as I had just vacuumed the line myself. I did this when the water overflowed and saw the back up switch disconnected. He said I probably did it wrong and offered his service for $125. I called another professional on my own. He came out and showed me the real issue. My inside unit was not level and water was not draining.....

    I called Choice to file for a review on my claim. The CS review department called me once. I have called them no less than six times and not contact. I have two homes under warranty here and have had similar poor quality work and CS in every claim (3) that I have made. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - POOR INCOMPETENT WORK AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.

    I submitted a pool pump claim several weeks ago. First they said they did not have a local provider, so we could use our pool company. Our pool company contacted them numerous times to let them know what the problem was and what the cost to repair was. We agreed to pay our pool company for the entire bill and let Choice reimburse us. We are yet to get reimbursed.     When I found the thousands of complaints and huge fines against CHW I tried to cancel but was told they would not let me and not refund my money. Then with the several claims we submitted, they denied them with fake reasons that were not true. The Technicians who were sent to us by CHW also told us that they hate to go to customers of this company because they know the claims will be denied.

    We sent a claim for our ac in, the technician and his company sent also that the ac failed due to normal wear and tear but then CHW denied the claim and sent 7 fake reasons for the denial. We got 4 other companies to verify that CHW was lying and reported them to authorities about the deceptive business practice of CHW. Buyer Beware. Check the complaints with the BBB in NJ as well as Florida, on Yelp and on Ripoff Report. This company is BAD Choice Home Warranty.

    I had to give this rating because the person helping me with my claim knew that what I needed repaired was not covered. I was put on hold and he came back with a claim number. When I questioned him again about what was going on and having to pay the money, knowing it couldn’t get fixed, and calling him out on it.     This was my first experience using my Choice Warranty program, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I called the service number and set up to have a repair person come to fix my washing machine. The next day I received an email from Choice informing me that they had so far been unable to locate a vendor who could come in a timely manner. Choice offered another option - one where I could find my own repair vendor, submit an estimate, pay for the service and be reimbursed for all except my $60 payment. I have a Sears Kenmore washer that I love, and went online. I found a very reputable vendor who could come out that very day! I am wondering who the vendors are that Choice uses here in my town - I was able to easily locate a vendor and make an appointment immediately. I chose this option.

    Today a very nice repair technician called and came out to the house. She was able to diagnose the problem, locate the necessary parts and repair my washer. Choice requires the vendor to contact them with an estimate; she had to provide many details including part numbers, descriptions, etc. I surmise this is to keep vendors from gouging them, however, I wanted my machine repaired in the best way, with the best parts - I did not want a new machine. We finally figured out all of the estimates, billing, payments, all done with smartphones these days. I think I will use this option for any future service needs - it was more efficient and faster than using the phone or internet.

    A week ago they sent a contractor to my home on a Saturday, then the technician put in a diagnoses, which was approved. That was 7 days ago, still no one has returned to do the work. I cannot get the company to respond. Plus, the contractor was literally some guy working from his truck. No company name on the truck, just some guy working out of some old truck. I cannot recommend this company at all.

    Was told that they couldn’t find anyone to fix my a/c so I could get someone myself. I found someone to fix it, called them so they could talk to the technician about the problem and after talking to them for about 20 minutes they said they would call back and not to fix anything. The technician and myself waited an hour, so called them back and they told me they emailed me. They weren’t going to cover it until the technician explained to them that it just needed to be recharged. They finally said they would cover everything but my deductible so I was happy until I received another email stating they would send me a check for $33. The bill was $325 minus the $75 deductible. I should be reimbursed $250. Not happy with them and would not recommend them to anyone.

    Choice employees will do anything in their power to deny legitimate claims, including lying. Stay far away from this company. I have been a customer for years and they have gotten progressively worse about denying claims, despite black and white language in the contract that states what is covered. In one case, they engaged a plumber who lied about a diagnosis (without even seeing the pipe himself) because he knew it was an exclusion. That same plumber then gave me a price of $600 to work with him directly outside of Choice. When I got a second opinion, they proved the first plumber was fraudulent and only charged $261 for the entire repair. Choice refused to cover that as well.

    Make sure you read the tiny small print!!! They will do anything they can to not cover the warranty!!! I have a stove top that didn’t work but because the glass was cracked and glass isn’t covered - the stove top was not covered!!!!

    I requested a quote online; now the robo calls, which are 3, 4 a day from Choice. They will not stop despite repeated requests. I tried blocking numbers, but each time it is a different number. They are relentless. I bought a policy from another company, but even that information does not deter Choice from the robo calls.

    We had Choice Home Warranty included in our home purchase at the recommendation of our realtor for some older appliances. Being previously unfamiliar with home warranties, I did some reading and agreed that it seemed like a good idea for possible coverage if there were any problems. Unfortunately, our AC died a month after purchasing our home. I contacted Choice Home Warranty and found out quickly they are slow and incapable of dealing with any problems in what any reasonable person would consider a timely manner. They scheduled a technician to look at the AC 7 days later. 7 days, without AC, in July in the Southern US. Is this some kind of cruel joke? It must be to Choice, because that's how I felt treated.

    They have an additional option for reimbursement from work done that you can schedule yourself. I found a different company that was able to come out the next morning and look. I called Choice at every decision step and followed instructions I received. After waiting 2 and a half weeks weeks to request additional information, my claim was denied. Choice Home Warranty is a scam company that has backdoors listed in their "coverage" for "pre-existing conditions" and "failure to apply regular maintenance," which they can point to in any situation bar a brand new home construction. Do not give these leeches money. They never pay out.

    I submitted a claim through Choice Home Warranty twice. They claim that a technician will contact you within 48 hours. In each case, no technician ever contacted me. This forces you to find your own technician, who then has to call and wait on the line for large amounts of time to justify their diagnosis before work can be done. In the case of my dishwasher, the repair would have cost more than replacing the unit. The initial offer to pay the claim was for a bit over $100. Not sure about you, but I think it is very difficult to replace a dishwasher for that amount of money. I found my experience nothing but frustrating. I would NOT recommend Choice Home Warranty.

    I put in a claim with CHW to repair my LG front load washer. The repairman said it could not be repaired (it would cost too much) and would need to be replaced but Choice Home Warranty would only give me $349 for replacing it?? Claiming the average price nationwide for a front load washer is $349. I would beg to differ that the average is closer to $650- $900 but I’m getting $349. The only option I had on the notification email was to accept the offer or decline it, there was no way to communicate with CHW to disagree with the amount.

    I have had the most horrible experience with this company. The employees are well trained to deny your claims and they read off a script for it. They are sweet talking into buying the coverage and you will be extremely surprised, if they fix anything for you. I was out of AC at 110 degree weather and they did not fix the issue for good and telling me it is not an emergency to live in 110 degree weather AC after I have opened the ticket for 5 days. When I ask for escalation he said, he has the same power as CEO of the company and refused to escalate the issue. His name is Rohan, he refused to identify himself with last name, employee id/information or email address. He wowed that he is the only person with his name at the company. This company is a sham at best. Do not fall for their sweet talk into buying a policy. You are throwing away your money. Do your homework before signing up with them.

    From my Union discount page I found Choice Home Warranty. I went to their site and searched for quotes. I put in my contact information and they called almost immediately. I was ready to sign up but I couldn't find my debit card. I asked him to call me back later today. He stated that he would wait. I restated that I couldn't find it at the time and that it may be lost. He told me in a snippy tone that he checks out at 3. I said, "It's ok. You can call me before" to which he responded, "Why call you back if you've lost your card." I found the whole interaction to be rude and somewhat disrespectful.

    I called back. He answered the phone and called me by name. I asked to speak to a manager. He put me in cue to speak with someone about warranty issues. I called back. Someone transferred me to a manager that assured me that he would call me back by 3. It is now 5:30, 4 additional people have called to talk to me about signing up but ironically the manager has not. I have told all of these people I don't do business like this. I hope that I have been removed from their calling list. Because I am officially done. I was going to sign myself and my daughter up and perhaps my mother. I am disappointed because it seemed to be a better deal. As I am typing this, I just received ANOTHER phone call. Starting to now feel harassed.

    FRAUD by CHOICE HOME WARRANTY (CHW) and its HVAC vendor. Policy #: **. Claim #: **. July 21, 2019 --> I filed this claim as my AC had stopped working. July 22, 2019 --> HVAC tech comes in from "R&M Heating and Cooling". They collect the $65 service fee. They tell me that they will submit the diagnosis immediately and will repair my HVAC unit the following day (July 23, 2019). July 23, 2019 --> I call the AC vendor and they say that CHW had not approved the claim as yet. I call CHW and they say that a diagnosis has not been submitted by the vendor as yet. Then I call the vendor who says that he thought he had submitted the diagnosis but must have slipped his mind, he will submit again. July 24, 2019 --> Diagnosis was submitted by the vendor to CHW. CHW asked my home inspection report and they approved the claim.

    For the next 5 days there is no communication from "R&M Heating and Cooling". They would not answer my calls. Finally I reached them from a different cell number, they were very arrogant and would say that I was not on their calendar for repairs and it was not a convenient time for them to schedule my repairs. July 29, 2019 --> I finally get my own HVAC service person and give CHW a call and they approve a diagnosis submitted by my own HVAC serviceman. CHW tells me that they would cover the cost at their own rate. $358.61 for the Blower motor and $72.00 for labor. They would send me a check for $ 430.61. Job is finished, I pay my HVAC serviceman out of pocket $942 for replacing the Blower motor and CHW tell me on the phone that they would reimburse me. Then CHW send me an email that they would be sending me a check for $160 instead of $430.61.

    July 30, 2019 --> I call CHW helpline, they listen to what I had to say, put me on hold for extended time and finally tell me that $160 is all that they would pay. I told the CHW rep to listen to the call recordings that they have and honor what they promised me. To that they say that at this time they cannot do so. Further CHW informed me that they cannot be held liable for their vendors and their behavior. I would definitely NEVER recommend this CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.
