Found out about Choice through extensive research and went online to start a contract. I completed the first form and clicked "Get Quote" and it immediately had a pop-up that said, "Don't leave, find out about our discounts" or something to that effect. No big deal ... started to fill out another form but didn't get too far before I got a call from a great sales rep who was informative (even though I cut him off) without being pushy (a soft upsell approach that I had to turn down).
After I hung up, within 15 minutes I get a call from a call center that tried to sign me up. I said, "Do you realize that I already signed up?" The kid hung up on me. Within 30 seconds, a second call. I thought, okay, perhaps the previous call dropped. Same previous caller says, "George? Did you already sign up with Choice?" Yes, as a matter of fact I did. I guess it wasn't a dropped call after all. Just a poorly trained call center kid that doesn't know phone etiquette. The guy I purchased from was excellent. The rep calling me later to sell me a policy, not so excellent.

A/C service. Gold Coast responded to the service call quickly and they were on time as scheduled. Steven was professional, courteous and explained the problem. He even went so as to go out of his way to get the proper size filter. I was so impressed that I signed a contact for them to come quarterly to service my unit. I would highly recommend Gold Coast, couldn't be happier.

Had my dishwasher and Garber raider break down. Called Choice Warranty and within an hour I had two service calls booked for a day and two days in advance. Excellent service. The appointments were not good for me so I called the service people and both had no problems rescheduling for when it was a better time for me.

We own 5 homes and had all covered by a Choice policy. Over the past year we have filed many claims for Plumbing, Water tank, HVAC Unit and a pool filter systems. Choice has denied all claims. Even the contractors sent have told us that this is the worst company to have for coverage. One contractor told me that what they cover is one line and what they don't cover was a long list! This contractor said that Choice has denied all their claims and that they were dropping them since it makes the contractor look bad. Another contractor said that he knew they would deny us unless he only used the words "normal wear and tear." He did that and they still denied the claim. Do not make the same mistake we did by taking out a Choice policy! They will not cover anything!
We regret to hear that you do not feel secure with our company. Choice Home Warranty can assure you that you have our policy for all of the right reasons. We are here to provide peace of mind, save you time, and money by offering a one stop shop. We cover most mechanical failures that happen due to normal wear and tear on the main systems, items and appliances in your home. Choice Home Warranty encourage all of our customers to review their coverage.

I had 3 claims on 3 different household appliances. 1 dishwasher, and 2 refrigerators. Each claim was denied. Dishwasher was because it was said I didn't do proper maintenance on my dishwasher therefore denying the claim. #2- REFRIGERATOR stopped cooling and was denied because it wasn't in the kitchen. instead it was in my remolded basement. #3. Refrigerator in kitchen was denied because it was said it had a leak causing internal damages therefore wasn't covered.
The first complaint - isn't what the technician told me but that's the way he wrote it. After 3 attempts to call the repair service- they answered once and didn't return any calls. Dishwasher still in pieces. 3rd complaint- tech came in spent 5 minutes without pulling refrigerator out, opened the doors and went to his truck to write it up- without any explanation- stated will hear from Choice warranty. Only positive thing I could say is the Case managers offered some help. Then to top things off when my policy was about to expire, then signed me up for monthly payments that were deducted from my credit card without notice. Will never use them again. Poor service.
Our policy covers mechanical failure due to normal wear and tear. We encourage all of our customers to review their coverage. It may also be found on www.choicehomewarranty.com/user-agreement/.

We currently had a different company when we bought this house. After a year of total frustration and disappointment, I researched other companies. Choice HW came with great reviews and I have not been disappointed since deciding to switch. The customer service is fantastic and the price is so much better than the other company. I was also able to buy coverage on my rental property at a discount giving me great peace of mind (as it's in another state).

I was sad to hear my sewer blockage was not covered by my warranty because it did not get as far as the sewer clean-out pipe in my front yard. To clean it out from the sewer pipe in the house would have been impossible since it was overhead in the exposed ceiling in my unfinished basment but it would have spilled sewage everywhere in my basement! The plumber had to remove a toilet, snake it, and replace the toilet. I sure hope I never have any more blockages because this is not fixable from my basement if another pipe gets blocked(and it will not be covered as this one wasn't!). I pray I never have this issue again! I'm wondering if there is an available addendum (at an additional cost, of course!) to cover this if it ever happens again in the future?

I spoke with Ronald ** today regarding Choice’s home warranty coverage. He was helpful and the warranty sounds great so far. I was offered a 5 year plan for a reduced cost. It seems too soon to post a review since I have no experience with them in regards to a claim. However, their customer service was great (not surprising since they were selling themselves to a new potential buyer).
I will post a follow-up review if/when I ever have to file a claim. That’s where the true integrity and customer service will be seen. We’ll see how well they stand by their warranty should that happen. Ronald was a very good salesman and knows how to deliver good customer service during the initial sale. I liked that he gave me his direct number as he promises to be our representative going forward. Thank you!

I called to find out about a warranty, first company I called mind you. The salesman was pushy and kept trying to get me to sign up for a 5 year plan for $2000 for 2 houses. I advised him I only wanted to sign up for a year, to see if I liked it. I had given him my credit card number and he had just kept pushing for a longer plan. I finally hung up on him and then he put through the one year plan on my credit card anyway. I was hot, I called back and talked to a manager who also tried to push me into a plan.
Finally he turned me over to the resolution dept. I told them I wanted to cancel my plan and he started telling me about how he could get me a better deal, because it could take 30 days for me to get my money back! Seriously? I was just done arguing with these people and took the better deal. I'm going to try it but if I'm unhappy and they won't let me cancel, I'm calling my attorney. Beware. Once you sign up you can never cancel, they will wear you down until you give up just to get rid of them, even when they say you can cancel at any time because there's no contract.

I purchased a Choice Home Warranty approx. 9 months back. I had researched the company/reviews online first. Going forward I will also check Consumer Affairs as well as the BBB before purchasing a new warranty. I live in the South. It's hot and humid. Two weeks back I notice my AC was not cooling. Slowly over a couple of days the temp in my home climbed to 90 degrees. On/around 7/27-7/28 I contacted CHW and filed a claim. I got the infamous email they send out as well as the robo call to my phone telling me a contract had been dispatched and they would be in touch.
I never heard from anyone so 2 days later I call back to CHW to report that my home temp was now staying around 90 during the day and 88 at night. I had by this time turned the thermostat down 60 degrees trying to cool off. I had also had a handy man come and install a window unit in my bedroom window so me and my dog could at least sleep there at night. During the days I was having to pack up me and dogs and stay at my daughters home.
Finally, after the second call the AC Company call stating the would be out the following day. The AC tech shows up, spends maybe five mins outside (never checked anything on the unit part in the attic) and reports to me that he could find nothing wrong, clogged, leaking nor not low on Freon. Only recommendation was to change my filter to a cheaper thinner brand so the unit did not have to work so hard to return air. (huh???) Wrote him is check and off he goes. Did what was recommended and struggled along for another few days now running the Central AC and the installed Window Unit and added five floor fans throughout the house to help move air.
On 8/5/19 I called CHW again to report that the AC was still not cooling and barely any air moving out of the room vents. Again, my house temp was averaging 88-90 degrees. Claim reopened and the same AC company/Tech dispatched out, surprisingly by the next day. Again, the Tech is outside for a very short time, but this time does go into the attic to look at the unit part there. To no Surprise, he again states that there is nothing he could find outside or inside wrong. He did say the inside coils needed a little cleaning..but not bad and for me to try this and see if it helped. He leaves, I'm excited! YEAH, I gonna be cool. NOT.
9/17/19 I'm back on the phone with CHW again telling them that something has to be done. Temp is still running around 80 degrees in the house and the only reason it was this LOW was because I was still also running the small Window Unit/Fans to move some air. I was told that my same above claim would be re-opened and a Company dispatched to help. CHW stated there would not be the usual Copay charge to the company because this would be a "Recall back".Two days go by and not a word from CHW or an AC company.
9/20/19 I contact CHW again and went through the whole spill about my AC. This time I'm told that she would have to NOW open a new claim because I was now over the 30 days period and it was now no longer a "Recall Back" but a new claim. Imagine this, no contact for two days and it just so happens that 30 days fell within those two days. Once again, and with a new claim number a totally different company/tech is sent out to my home the next day. This technician spends a good amount of time working outside and testing several things. GUESS WHAT! My AC Compressor is barely pumping and when it get hot, he stated the it was shutting down completely. It would only start back up after it cooled down. In other words all this time I have a bad Compressor.
Finally, I get a straight answer to what has been going on. Very nice guy and seemed honest and straight-forward. The Tech makes all his notes via email to CHW along with two pictures of the AC that CHW requested. All was sent immediately. Approx. 4 hours later, I get a call back from the Technician stating that CHW want several other photos sent to them. He wanted my permission to run back by and get them. I had no problem with that and told him sure.
I swear to you, he had not been gone from my house (this 2nd time) for an hour and I get this Email from CHW denying to cover the issue. There reason "failure to maintain outside unit causing dust to clog something on the compressor causing it to overheat and burn up". You know, one of those squeeze out of our responsibility paragraphs written into contract. This was complete BULL and I knew it. I took it upon myself to call all the contractors back myself and question them about the statement CHW made for denial. Neither said they saw any clogging and definitely not enough to burn up the Compressor. Both stated the malfunction was just simply do to the age of the unit (15 yrs.) Other than a little dusty and a few small spider webs, the Compressor just died from age.
So here I go again by email (because email is about the only way you can communicate with this company) and I file an APPEAL to CHW on their denial of my claim. Based on all documentation I kept and conversations with Techs. Within 24 hours I get assigned (via email) to a Case Manager, that going forward would be my direct contact for my APPEAL. The email instructed me that I had to call her. About 30 mins. later I call as instructed and did get a human voice, but to only be read from a script that my APPEAL was still being denied and then she goes on the read that little hid paragraph in the contract.
I just cut her off in mid sentence, told her that I knew what my contract stated because I had read it myself, front to back! I asked her what other process or APPEAL options I had or how could I push this further up the chain for review again. This young lady, simply states, "NO, this is now at highest Management status allowed," and there was no other options. Only other thing I could do would be fight it out in Arbitration and in the state of New Jersey. CHOICE HOME WARRANTY IS BASED IN NEW JERSEY. Imagine that!
To close, I had three independent, reputable companies to come out, check the unit again, each on separate days. All did concur that the Compressor was done, gone, out. Guess what else each one separately stated: The internal damage and the Compressor did not burn up do to non-care, cleaning, nor any other clogging. It simply DIED FROM AGE!!!
After all most 3 months of crap from CHW, the heat and no AC guess who's trying to pull together the funds to replace the Compressor or whole unit... ME, widowed, older, and living on a fixed income. Even so, I have always squeeze out enough yearly to keep a Home Warranty on my house. A lot of good it did! RUN. Run as fast as possible and find you a new Home Warranty Company because CHW has the worst Reputation, Customer service and must do nothing all day along but train their Reps on denying claims. I'm dropping CHW, ASAP and moving on. Good Luck if you're one of their victims.
About 4 months ago. The home came with the balance of a prepaid 5 year contract (about 2 years remaining). On 9/15 we noticed the house was warm and after I double checked the temp I confirmed the home was 82 inside. So the home was clearly not cooling correctly. I placed a call to my home warranty company to open a claim. The claim was opened quickly and I got a confirmation of a person coming out Wednesday 9/18 after 3pm. So we were ready for a few warm days. On Monday 9/16 we got a call that our window had moved to 9/17 8am. We were happy because we assumed the AC would be fixed quickly.
The AC Service tech shows up and starts looking. He immediately says the Freon is low and he isn’t allowed to do tests. He then says the claim is going to be denied for rust on the copper lines bc 100% of all Choice claims on Freon is denied. He was right we got a denied email about a hour later. I called to start the appeal process. I was quickly given a call for the appeal and they denied the appeal in about 5mins saying 100% of leaks AC claims are from rust on copper and they don’t cover rust. I asked how copper can rust and he said it’s a closed system and it has to be rust.
So I didn’t like this answer so I called a local HVAC company and they say they don’t see much rust on the coils and that copper can’t rust. They recommend a pressure test to validate where the leak is and they also said most of the leaks are due to welds failing. I went back to Choice with the info to see how I can proceed. I was told I could go to arbitration in N.J. I was told that welds only fail due to rust and 100% of AC leaks aren’t covered bc they are covered with the clause that says no rust repair.
So here I am with a hot house, a worthless warranty, an AC tech from choice telling me it’s gonna be denied bc all claims are, a appeal person reading from a script, and a well rated HVAC company that says it’s due to welds in the coil.. so no working AC. So I can’t recommend Choice to anyone as long as I have a broken AC. They are so well known on denied claims that techs know the claim will be denied before its officially denied. View less.

I had what I thought was an issue with my air conditioning and notified CHW by the internet service which was quick and easy to navigate. The response on a service company arriving was very quick and way quicker than I thought a person would be found. Overall the CHW to find someone was great. The company of choice to see about my problem was great and got my air conditioning up and running back in no time. For the service fee of someone coming out is very reasonable for major problems.

We've been customers of Choice Home Warranty for 4 Years+ and recently had our first larger claim to which they denied it. They sent a nice email saying they'd work to resolve it, but when my wife got on the phone with them, they were extremely rude. When my wife asked to speak with a supervisor, she was advised there was none. Eventually she got the name & extension of the supervisor but was told the supervisor would reach out before EOD. That didn't happen.
I personally called & tried to leave a message but the supervisors VM is not set up. I then left a message for the original case manager assigned to my case & that has led nowhere. I then used their online dashboard & the case manager keeps saying she emailed the supervisor to call us, but he hasn't reached out yet. When you call their general line for this, if no agents are in the queue, the call drops. Just terrible customer service all around. They are happy to take the premium, make you pay the deductible, but the second there's a large claim, they deny it.

Absolutely the worst home warranty coverage & “customer service” I’ve ever experienced in my life. I filed a claim for my HVAC unit in August. I was told a vendor was scheduled the next day between 11-3 pm. The vendor then called & said “it’s more like 8-8 but will call 45 mins ahead of the appointment”. I thought that was fine & with heads up it was reasonable.
The next day, no call. I called the vendor and they said they have to “prioritize their customers & occupied homes”. They rescheduled me for the next day. I live in AZ & in August we are easily hitting triple digit heat. I called a vendor who I work with on a daily basis and he was at my home within 25 minutes of my call. I cancelled the home warranty’s vendor to save myself the $60 service call fee. I submitted my invoice for my HVAC service for $330 asking for reimbursement. The person I spoke to at CHW said “we don’t do that unless it’s preapproved” I asked to speak with a supervisor and they told me they were in a meeting and I would get a callback. I never received a call. The unit was working so I let it go.
9/17 - Unfortunately it has stopped cooling a second time & I stupidly filed another claim with CHW.. A vendor was scheduled the next day, 11-3 pm. I received a phone call from the vendor to schedule & as expected the appointment was set for sometime between 8 am-8 pm. At least for this 2nd claim the vendor showed up. He diagnosed the issue as a failed evaporator coil. The technician provided me with notes, photos & his write up for the submission to replace coil due to NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND AGE.
I then receive an email 2 hours after the technicians departure that CHW was denying my claim. Their email stated that the coil was rusted & they are not responsible for rust/corrosion. If I had any questions I could refer to my contract terms & file an appeal. I immediately filed an appeal & called the customer service line to make sure it was submitted correctly. I spoke with a representative on 9/19 & he said that it would be assigned to a case manager within 4 hours of receipt & I would be Notified via email but it wasn’t his department so he could not help me any further.
On 9/20 I received an email stating I have a case manager assigned to my appeal. I called the case manager immediately & of course got a voicemail. The message read “you have reached Constance **, today is Tuesday 9/10, I am on the other line...”, etc. It was 9/20. I should have known at this point what a nightmare I would be dealing with.
Called Constance a 2nd time on Friday 9/20 at 1 pm. No answer. Left a 2nd voicemail. Sent 1st email follow up. Called Constance a 3rd time at 4 pm. No answer, left 3rd voicemail. Sent 2nd email. Called Constance a 4th time before 8 pm EST. No answer, left 4th voicemail. Sent 3rd email. I called the main customer service line to see if ANYONE at this company could assist. I spoke to a man who said there were no supervisors available and that I would have to wait for the case manager to move forward. No call back was ever received. I did not attempt to contact Choice Home Warranty on 9/21.
9/22 - called Constance at 10:50 am. No answer. Left voicemail. Called CHW customer service line at 11 am on 9/22. Spoke with Jennifer. She sent email escalating the claim to the supervisor of the department. Unable to copy me on the email so who knows if that ever happened. She said it will take 24 hours for a supervisor to contact me. 24 hours later. 9/23 - called & LVM for Constance. No answer. Sent email. Called customer service line. Spoke with Jennifer again. She apologized but still no resolution. 9/23 11:21 am - called customer service number. Pressed 0 to speak with someone. “No available agents in the cue” and was hung up on/disconnected. I never had a chance to leave a voicemail.
I finally received a call at 1:19pm on 9/23 from my case manager who repeated (word for word) the email I received on 9/19 claiming there was rust & they were not covering the Evap coil. She would not let me speak and would not allow me to speak with a supervisor or have the case reassigned to a different case manager. She was rude which cause me to get rude. I asked for a supervisor to call me which is laughable because I’m still waiting on the supervisor to call me that Jennifer escalated my appeal to a day prior.
When I purchased this plan in March I specifically asked their representative about coverage of the HVAC unit. I was completely transparent of the age & condition of the unit. I even offered to share my home inspection report to guarantee coverage should any parts of the system fail & require repair/replacement. I was told that a home inspection report was not necessary & that the unit would be covered since it was working when I purchased the property.
During normal, healthy operation, refrigerant is contained within the evaporator coil. Over time, it is common that the coil can spring small leaks due to normal wear and tear. The unit is from 1983 and was operating fine up until the evening of Tuesday, 9/17. A claim was filed on Wednesday, 9/18 and a vendor was scheduled/dispatched on Thursday, 9/19. It was determined that the evaporator coil was no longer working as efficiently as it should, & was not cooling the home.
Since I’ve taken possession of the home on 03/12/2019, I have changed the filter regularly, all vents in the home are kept open and the unit has received regular maintenance. I am familiar with the terms and conditions of the contract as outlined in section F number 1. The current issue is not a result of malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion. The evap coil has failed due to normal wear and tear & now choice home warranty is denying coverage.
The representatives at this company operate on false pretenses in order to make a commission on the number of contracts they can deliver. This company’s negligence and dishonestly is truly unbelievable. Health and safety should be a top concern, but this company is causing emotional distress & suffering to me & my family. It’s in my best interest to terminate my contract & they want to charge me $200+ in order to do so. It’s laughable at this point for anyone to contact me for an attempt to smooth things over. I will never work with this company, I will never refer anyone to this company, I will make it a point to steer customers and clients away from choice home warranty.
We regret to hear that you were not satisfied with our policy. We are committed to providing a positive customer experience and we take all feedback very seriously.

I contacted Choice Home Warranty in July 2019 about my air conditioner unit. The technician stated the unit needs replacing. I contacted Choice Home Warranty to follow up with the status because it was taking so long for a technician to replace my unit. I contacted Choice AGAIN and the representative stated they want a second opinion. I was puzzled but I took another day off to meet the 2nd technician, he showed up 2 days after the schedule appointment. I contacted Choice Home Warranty a 3rd time and they said they wanted another opinion before replacing my unit. I requested off of work a 3rd time.
It's now September... The technician stated my unit needs replaced so I contacted Choice Home Warranty AGAIN. They stated they HADN'T receive a report so the rep stated she will place me on hold to contact the technician and we can move forward with a verbal opinion. I waited 15 minutes. She return to MY call and stated, "We have to wait on the form. He needs to send in." So she told me she wants to send a 3rd technician out. SMH. I said no I'm not taking another day off. My 13 year old son and myself have asthma and is suffering in this hot house waiting for what??? A third opinion.

AC goes out and they decide to refuse warranty because my filters were too dirty... 3 months of requesting photos or proof of this went unanswered. I paid $18k out of pocket to replace 2 brand new units and request that they come out so the new units are added to the maintenance warranty. They refused. The spigot to the main water line broke off and I called to have a plumber come out... They said it's not covered because the spigot is not Inside the house. I love how they call and email every day now that my warranty is due to renew but go silent when I requested proof of why they refused coverage on my AC unit. Don't waste your money.

They are not trustworthy and helpless. Their job is not to protect you saving big expenses when something happen to your household item. Their job is how to fool you around and try to not to cover you the best ways they can. I have refrigerator problem so I called Choice home warranty and claim issues. Few days later some third party company sent me a very unprofessional technician to my home and try to resolve issues. He told me that refrigerator is end of life and there is nothing he can do to fix the issues that I have right now. Issue was refrigerator died on us few times and melt food and also has water busted issue.
Currently, I shut off the water line to refrigerator so water issue has temporary stopped. Anyhow, technician told me that it is too old to remove part and he does not want to damage while he is trying to remove part and diagnoses. Basically, I paid for service fee of $45 dollars for nothing and he left without fixing anything. He told me this refrigerator is end of life to fix anything and not worth to fix at this age with this many issues. Then he said they will contact me soon and left my home.
After a day, I get an email actually from warranty company saying that they will fix it for me and will have to reschedule for technician so I called and they said refrigerator is partially covered and partially not covered. And anything with water related will not cover so I have to pay them to get it fix and they said I have a balance of close to $400 dollar. I am pretty sure that amount is unrealistically expensive if I had to fix with local technician anyway. So I asked them what kind of appliance has not related to water at all??
When I sign the policy, representative told me that all appliance will 100% cover and hassle free with any kinds of issues. I am sure somewhere in the fine print may contains include / exclude items and kind of vague ways for them to protect themselves to not to cover customers for sure!! Very front of policy page shows include all appliances with list of appliances. Pretty much all of appliances without describe exclusion items on benefits. When warranty company made exclude items with itemized, they can make any vague excuses to not to cover customers. Please do not trust them! Bottom line is technician said it is end of life and not worth to fix it and he’d replace to new refrigerator. I don’t know why Choice home warranty try to fix it and then they can make excuses to not to cover issues and problem. What a bad company they are??

On September 5, 2019, Choice Home Warranty chose to not replace my water heater stating their contact states they would not replace the water heater. I never signed any contract with them and they do advertise on their website that they will repair the water heater or if they could not fix it that they would replace it. I had someone come out to property THE DAY the unit failed. This is Texas. It was 106 outside, and 112 in the house. Repair was completed at or near the lowest end of national average for a repair of this nature. They have refused to honor the claim, because the contractor did not get their 'permission' to do the work, even though the part replaced falls within the 'included' section, and the cost was fair and reasonable. They are refusing to cancel the policy and refund all money paid for a seriously flawed policy. Next step? Court.

Choice Home Warranty (CHW) works harder to deny a claim instead of helping the consumer. When I first called to start my claim, CHW could not get a contractor out to check my system. The one company they hired was unreliable. I rushed home to meet him then he said he could not make it. I left work early to meet him for nothing. He told me to call the company and get someone else to come out.
Then they told me they will reimburse me for the technician I had come out when the A/C first went down. I just needed to have him call them to speak to one of their techs. He said something about rusted coils and a leak. CHW said they won’t cover that because there has to be something corrosive in my system and it isn’t covered in the policy. I then spoke to a case manager (who was very rude) who told me that she would put me back in the system to have someone come out and get a second opinion.
Once again, CHW could not get a tech out to my house for a second opinion. I got an email again for the option to get my own local tech to come out and check the system for reimbursement. After two days they still didn't have a tech. When I called them, I was told that they were calling every hour to find someone. All day they could not find a company but when I tried to call on a Friday at 2pm in the afternoon, I got someone to come out before the end of the same day. It didn't take me long at all to find a company to come out.
The new tech from a larger more known company did his evaluation and said that the first person couldn’t have checked pressure on my system because the compressor isn’t working. If the compressor isn't working, you can't check for leaks. He said there is no rust on the coils and there is no way he could have gotten to the assessment he told the company. He believed it to be the compressor. He said the compressor is down from normal wear and tear. In fact, he said that a lot of air conditioning units in my area were all starting to go down from the normal aging.
CHW touts the policy covers things down for normal wear and tear. My claim, however was still denied because they say that the condition had to have been preexisting. The A/C worked when I got on the policy and then it stopped working. How is that preexisting outside of normal wear and tear? If that is the case anything can be considered normal wear and tear. They could make the same argument now or six months later. They should have a year of operation required in the policy.
The company is a for-profit organization and I understand it is a business. I simply does not concern itself with trying to assist the customer. Two times they were supposed to have a tech coming out to my house. Both times they could not get anyone but offered to reimburse me if I had a tech come out. The first tech was $185, and the second was $120 for a total of $305. A service call fee for them is $85. So had they sent someone out I would have ended up paying only $170. CHW decides to offer me only $144.00 in reimbursement. What is that supposed to cover? Definitely not what I would have paid had they met the requirement to send out a technician.
One case manager supervisor told me the estimate for the new A/C the technician says I need is far too expensive. Okay that may be true. But if a new A/C unit is needed then take the time to find a better estimate. It doesn't have to be that company but it should be in their best interest to have someone who does good work install. Instead they just say it is not covered. The bottom line is that my system was up and running at the start of my policy. To now say that my system had to have already been going down is not fair. They can't make that claim with any creditable statistics. They just don't want to pay for a new system.
Their advertisement says “never pay for covered repairs again, can you afford a new A/C, fast appointments.” None of that is true; not for me. The policy says normal wear and tear. The tech says my A/C is out because of normal wear and tear but they refuse to fix my system. This is not resolved and I will continue to fight this. I don't want to have my money refunded because that does not get me what I deserved: a repaired A/C.

This is by far the worst Home Warranty that I’ve ever encountered. My A/C unit was first having issues with the duct system. They came out, had a tech review he saw the same issues as we did and reported them. Guess what?! Claim denied! Appealed and it was denied again. So we had to pay for the issues w/ our own money. Not happy! Now the unit has gone completely out. It’s leaking Freon... Freon stays in for about a few days and then it’s gone. They sent a guy out who said it needed to be cleaned that’s why it was leaking and had stopped working. Really dude?! We got a second opinion and as we suspected the unit needs to be replaced entirely. So guess what?! Another denied claim. Appealed that one, it was denied again saying that the unit needed to be cleaned. That’s straight BS.
We are elderly and now stuck with a unit that does not work, it’s super old so it’s not made anymore and finding parts are a no go. We haven’t even been in the home a year yet! Worse, worse, worse experience ever. So we’ve paid for a warranty that seems to not want to cover nothing at all. I see the good reviews and think hmmm they must be with a separate part of the company because this is not the service that my husband and I have received. We are very very disappointed in this company. Total rip off. I would never recommend this company for a Home Warranty option. I would definitely tell you to run!!!!

I have experienced multiple issues with Choice Home Warranty. One is that the company states they will fix or replace a broken appliance and the fact of the matter is they will not replace a broken appliance, however they will offer funds to replace which are way lower than the actual cost. When my washer broke, CHW stated the national average for a clothes washer is $350 which was not even half the cost of a washer and refused to replace even after I told them I was fine with whatever their replacement item was as long as it worked.
Recently, I made a claim for my air conditioner and the compressor was found to have a mechanical failure and the claim was denied despite the company acknowledging the AC unit was well maintained. The reason for denial was generic and outlined what could have caused the failure and not exactly what the failure was. The company uses deceptive measures to deny claims which is why the NJ Consumer Protection reached an over 800K settlement with the company due to deceptive business practices. I have also posted factual information on their social media advising consumers of the scam the company is and have been blocked. Be aware and do not do business with this company as they are taking advantage of hard working Americans.

They sent a "technician" who was insulting, unprepared, and only took a photo, then left, after taking the $45 dollar co=pay check. So, I put a stop payment on the check which still cost $21. I have cancelled the policy and will do what I should have been doing: Establish an account strictly for home repairs. -Thus far, I have paid over $600 for them to replace a dimmer switch and a wax toilet seal. I have had 2 terrible experiences with Choice Warranty in 2019. I waited an entire week in the summer heat to have somebody come look at my AC unit that wasn’t working and say that it needed a new mother board and that he needed to get clearance from Choice. ANOTHER week went by and he never turned in his paperwork so I called Choice and asked for them to send a new technician out to my house. Then the new guy comes out and barely looks at it before saying that it’s “due to a pest problem” which I knew was bull crap because he had no evidence to support that claim, he had barely looked around.
After he sent in his paperwork Choice denied my claim. I emailed Choice saying that I strongly disagreed with the Tech. And that I would like another opinion. So I was given the contact information of a special claim agent. I called her daily for a week leaving messages and never got a return call. So I said “screw this” and called a local AC technician out and he fixed it in less than an hour for $150. Oh, and by the way, it wasn’t the motherboard OR a pest problem. Then I called Choice back for about the 60th time in this whole ordeal and asked that since all of the technicians that they sent out were incompetent and so was my claim agent and because Choice was unable to provide proper service I wanted a refund for the $150 I spent to have it fixed plus another $120 for the 2 service fees that you have to pay the actual tech. That comes out for a total reimbursement of $270.
I was told that “Unfortunately, because you already had the work done outside of Choice then we cannot give you a reimbursement.” To which I literally laughed out loud and said “of course you can’t” and hung up. That is only THE FIRST story, the second one is almost as bad. I would literally go to HVAC school and get my license JUST to fix my own AC before attempting to get Choice to do anything because that would honestly probably be faster and cheaper in the long run. I really believe that if my sewer line was clogged up I could could literally dig up the entire main line using a spoon and then clean out all of the feces clogging it up with my bare hands and that would be faster and easier than using Choice warranty. It seems to me from my experiences that Choice will do whatever it takes to avoid helping customers.

Overall very bad customer service and poor communication. We submitted a claim for our dishwasher shortly after moving into our new home. They insisted that I send them the entire home inspection report in order to prove the dishwasher worked when we moved in. We had someone out to look at it in a week. They ordered a new control panel that had to ship from California so that took another week. They put that in and said they got a bad control panel, so another week to get a new one. They put in another control panel that didn’t work so they had to order a water valve. All of their attempts to fix the dishwasher did not work and the repairman suggested a new dishwasher. Choice decided to have another repairman come look and he could not fix it and also recommended replacement. They finally agree and we are so excited to have a working dishwasher after two months without one
Today GE delivers the replacement but Choice did not order the install kit so there is nothing they can do to install the new dishwasher. After calling our rep, the general service number and talking to a supervisor, they agree that yes they do cover install but not by that company. They failed to tell us until the dishwasher was delivered (after multiple phone calls) that we have to schedule our own install. We have to have the first repairman come install it. We are two months in with a broken Bosch dishwasher, had to take off from work 10 times to come meet repairmen and we will be taking off at least one more time to get this installed by whoever they approve. I purchased a home about 4 months ago.

For example, my a/c evaporator coil broke down- customer service told me it was not covered... One recommendation would be salespeople must go over what is not covered before having someone to sign up for this types of services. They should stay away from short term gain by pocketing some money and in long term getting bad reviews. I am not sure how these fortune 500 companies rating work- this company is a joke!

On Thursday 9/5/19 our A/C stopped working. I filed a claim with Choice that evening. I was advised a tech would come out on Monday, 9/9/19 but since we were experiencing record heat I called the tech and he came Friday morning. The tech discovered a bad capacitor and received approval to replace it. After replacing the capacitor the tech discovered failed compressor valves as the unit was pulling locked rotor amps. The tech advised Choice of the failure and provided the year, make, model, tonnage and refrigerant of the entire condensing unit and the compressor. The only information I could get from Choice over the entire weekend was the request was being reviewed. On Monday, 9/9/19 we were told the tech needed to provide a picture of the manufacturers label on the compressor. The tech came out and did so Monday morning.
I was unable to get an update on the request until Tuesday morning when I was told the tech needed to resubmit his charges to Choice. Tuesday afternoon we received a conditional approval if I paid $300 of "uncovered charges". The charges in question were usual and customary for replacing a compressor - cutting/welding torch, refrigerant and a wire harness. Because my family had been suffering through record heat for 5 days and Choice was dragging this out at every opportunity I agreed to pay for the charges. Following up on Wednesday morning, Choice told me authorization for the compressor would take 24 to 48 hours. Through their appeal process a case manager help get the authorization approved Wednesday morning and the unit was finally repaired the afternoon, 5 days after Choice knew a bad compressor needed to be repaired.

Not only is the contract a waste of money, but you won't find out you have no real coverage until it's too late. Stay away!

Choice Home Warranty is a very bad company. No customer services they always want to do only small fixes and for anything big they will blame you for services and maintenance and deny the coverage. There is always a fine line on systems maintenance. They also give you a false timeline without consulting with actual repair company.

Just wanted to provide an update. Today I received the $100 check from choice home warranty. I have updated my review from 1 to 3 stars. The reason because the issue was resolved, but due to the time elapsed and the resolution did not become a priority until my review was posted. In the future to garner more favorable customer reviews I suggest to be more proactive in engaging and working with the customer before it reaches this type of escalation.
Original Review: Sept. 16, 2019
We purchased a home in June 2019. After being in the home approximately 2 weeks we noticed water leaking around the toilet in the master bathroom. Called Choice. They sent a guy out who said the toilet had a hairline crack and he recommended replacing it. Choice told us they don't cover cracks (remember we just moved into the home). After days of back and forth with various reps being hung up on and transferred to areas of dead air we spoke to a rep in escalations who said they would send us a check for $100.00 to help in the repair cost which came to be $350.00. Here's the problem we NEVER got the check. I called and told them and asked to cancel the original check and reissue another one. They told me it would be a $30 fee so my $100 check would go to $70 due to no fault of my own.
I have called several times since then and was given the name of a claims manager whose number always goes to voicemail and who never calls back when I tried to reach someone else in that the department. The automated voice said "no one in the queue is available" and hung up. I have left several messages on the website in my claims area and still no response. At this point my only recourse is to steer as many potential customers away from this nightmare as possible. The warranty came with the home when we purchased and I can guarantee I will not renew this service. It's worthless and the lack of customer service and accountability is mind boggling. At this point I am taking to all my social media platforms to inform everyone of my experience so they will not have to endure the same horrific experience.

Choice Home Warranty denied a claim to fix my HVAC unit on the grounds that the unit which was less than 2 years old wasn’t old enough to blow the compressor. I tried several times to appeal but with each call comes a different reason for the denial. I followed their claim filing process and for a whole week, they claimed they couldn’t find a technician to come to my house and look at the unit. They suggested I find my own tech and then let the tech call for a preapproval after diagnosing the problem, which is what I did only for them to tell the tech that an HVAC unit this new couldn’t break down. Save yourself the stress. Don’t waste your money. They will make up reasons to deny any claim you file any day.

I had to call several times and each time you failed to have service provided but you had no problem taking my monthly payment on the the 3rd of each month since 2015. You would think after not having called for any service until April 2019 I wouldn't have had any problems at all. Check your log! Most companies have one! That's how businesses are run! I have dates and times written down when technicians didn't show up or would call with an excuse for not showing up just in case you don't. Now your response is an attempt to make me the cause (re policy) for your company's negligence and horrible business values in taking money from people but not providing a service! How dare you??
Original Review: I started with this company 2015. They took my monthly payment every month with no problems. When it was time to come out and service 3 years later for the first time, it was awful! and that's an understatement. I had to call several times and someone would always assure me that someone would be out but they never showed. Technicians would call and give me excuses for not showing or wouldn't show up at all.
This went on for weeks and Choice would assign someone new according to them and they wouldn't show, One technician finally showed up just to see what the problem was, he took the service fee for coming out (more money) and never returned to fixed the problem. I've never been so frustrated as they took money every month but when it came to service when I needed it, that never happened!! Stay away if you don't want to just give this company money for absolutely NOTHING!!! Something needs to be done about a company like this. They are ripping people off for a service they aren't providing!!!

Mom was without AC (Heat index was 108), Stove, Washer, Dryer for 1 month trying to get this company to Fulfill a claim. She made many phone calls to the “So called” claims manager that took all day and many days to contact. They’ve sent a Tech whom they claimed did not file his diagnostic report on time. So, they claimed due to the tech’s negligence it's company policy to send a different tech.
Tech #2 had a different diagnosis. Due to two different diagnosis CHW requested mom to get the city electrical authority to do a check. Tech #2 diagnosis: It’s the City’s electrical Authority’s issue. The city Electrical Authority gave their diagnosis which confirmed Tech #1 diagnosis which CHW would not accept because Tech 1 was too late reporting. Soooo CHW sent Tech #3 whose diagnosis was totally different than tech #1,#2, and the electrical authority. Oh, and Tech #3 was very incompetent.
Meanwhile, it’s taking days and weeks to get the claim’s mgr on the phone prior to sending these tech. This went on for about 1 month. I had to personally threatened a lawsuit, contact the local news reporter and promised that I would report them to AARP, BBB, and share my experience with this company before they would do something. So they offered my 83 year old mom an amount less than the amount it would cost to replace her breaker panel. Please I beg you! Save your money and sanity. Stay Away from this Choice Home Warranty. Buyer beware. I had a slow drain issue. Called CHW. They said they would send someone out. It was going to be 3 days. Time of appointment, the plumber canceled the call. When I asked why, they wouldn't deal with Choice Home Warranty. Called around, nobody wanted to deal with them. They said I could call my own and they would reimburse me. The plumber said there was grease in the line and would have to replace some line. We've lived in our house a little over a year. We don't put things down the sink. Including grease. CHW said they wouldn't cover this. People wouldn't call back after leaving messages 3 and 4 times. The work needed to be done. I had to remove drywall to get to the drain line in my basement ceiling. I knew they wouldn't cover that but it had to be done.
On one call I found that I was talking with someone from El Salvador. Hard to understand and no help in sight. After stating that they cover plumbing blockage, they only cover what is a very quick snake fix. In having to eat a $1000.oo we opted to cancel our policy. I was told that we would get a refund of $383.36 within 10 days. Never got a confirmation email. After calling back to have it resent, they said they did and that maybe it was in Spam. It was not. Then they said the refund amount would be $288.50 that would be received in 30 days. Still no email. We received several emails when it might be to their benefit, none when asking for refund information. Bottom line, contractors don't want to work with them, and they seem to be vague and not truthful when it was time to act. My opinion, stay away from this company. They are CROOKS!

First of all, a small sparking is not same as ARCING. They asked me to google it and I did. It is not the same. Secondly, if they knew they would not cover anything related to arcing, why would they even bother to get a technician look at it and waste my money when I explained the situation to them beforehand. They called the technician twice ($130 wasted) for the same condition and now I have to buy my own microwave. Very disappointed at this company. On 4th July, 2019, I was contacted by a marketer from Choice Home Warranty (CHW) to purchase their warranty service. Seeing important appliances covered, I purchased a year service with policy number **. We have a very well-maintained A/C unit at our home working perfectly for 26 years without any breakdown. On August 20th, suddenly, this unit refused to switch on. We filed a claim with CHW the same day. Next week, CHW fixed an appointment for TLJD Mechanical LLC to visit our house to fix the A/C with the expectation that we will pay a service fee of $65. TLJD is a dubious A/C technician in Baton Rouge. They do not have any star rating.
On arriving, they demanded around $200 extra from my pocket saying that they will not work without that and CHW does not cover this work (they were supposed to get the machine started). Since it was too hot (close to 100F) and I have young children in my household, I had to give in to their demands. They got the machine started. Less than 2 weeks after this service call, I recognized that the A/C was not cooling at all (on 7th Sept, 2019). I called CHW and they recalled TLJD to come back again. This time they charged $125 for a leak test. All the while TLJD, was offering monthly financing to replace my A/C. A leak was detected outside my house where the machine is. They said they will report to CHW for taking it further.
Within 30 minutes, I received an email that my claim has been denied due to rust, corrosion, and non-maintenance (for an A/C that has been maintained so well to last for 26 years). I appealed and was assigned a case manager Mr. Steven ** whom I contacted after multiple calls. He responded that he got photographs of rust and corrosion and on my insistence emailed one of them. It was photograph from the attic whereas the leak was outside. Based on this photograph, CHW rejected my claim. I feel cheated and that CHW is a scam. I have to live without A/C with my young children at 100 F.

The agent who handled my enrollment on the phone was a bit deceptive. Price quoted not the same as the price charged. Told me the service call fee is $85, but I have seen it listed as $60. He failed to tell me that there could be a 30 day waiting period. The promo email I received said one month free. I didn’t get that either. The only positive so far was the lady I was able to speak to on the phone after being disconnected twice and placed on hold for 25 minutes.

The Associate called me before I even got done filling out the web page for a quote. I admit I was a little skeptical at first because of the quick response without request, but it worked out that I got a home warranty for a great price and hope it is as good as they told me. I have not received the particulars by mail just by email so far. I did call back with a question to make sure I could reach them and talk to the same person again and I did making me more comfortable with the purchase. I know I have seen the advertising for them before and I am counting on a good relationship for the future. Time will tell for sure. Thank you for the coverage you offered and the great price for the next few years and the low service call fee you gave us. I am looking forward to our future.

I tried to use my warranty on 2 different occasions. The first time was for a refrigerator not cooling properly. The technician came to my home on 2-3 times and was not able to find any issue despite the fact that things in the refrigerator were freezing and the temperature would fluctuate 10 degrees. My most recent experience was this weekend. My air conditioner stopped working. I called on a Friday evening at 4:45 pm. I received an email later that evening stating that I would have an 11-3 appointment on the next day. I also received an automated phone call on the morning of the appointment stating the same time frame. Later that same morning I received a text from the contracted service provider stating that they would be to my home from 3:00-8:00 pm.
I had to make arrangement so that someone could be there again during the new times. I called and spoke directly to the assigned contractor and he assured me that someone would be there during that time frame. Later that afternoon I checked my phone to see if anyone had contacted me about the appointment and I saw that I have a missed call from an unfamiliar number. The person did not leave a message. I called the number and found out that it is the vendor that was scheduled to do the work. He said that since I didn't answer the phone that they had moved on to their next call. I was furious since I had already confirmed the time earlier in the day with her personally and had arranged to have someone waiting at home in 85 degree heat.
The vendor then told me that someone was still in my area and that he would come arrive shortly. 1 hour and 50 minutes later, no call, no show. I called the vendor again and he told me that they were backed up and he would not be able to come out to service our AC. This is after we waited 11 hours for them to show up. I called Choice Home Warranty and received a recording that I had called past their business hours. The next morning I had to call a local vendor and have them do the repair on a Sunday.
I called Home Warranty on Monday to share my experience and tell them that I want to cancel my service. I paid $500 for a 13 month plan. They told me that if I cancel now (6 months into the plan) that I would not get any refund as I have already used $500 worth of service with the pro-rate. I am beyond disgusted at the whole experience and would tell anyone that is considering do business with them to go somewhere else. There are several things that are not covered in the plan (all the fine print), the work that they do is questionable at best. Save your self the time and aggravation and pay a reputable vendor for the work that needs to be done. Choice Home Warranty pockets your money up front. They tell you when you sign up that you can cancel at any time, but you won't get your money back. Please think twice about using them.

Excellent service. I called on Monday. The technician came on Tuesday. He diagnosed the problem quickly. I heard from Choice Home the next day. I decided to take the money Choice Home offered because my washing machine was very old and they didn’t know if they could find the parts to repair it.

I have a 1 1/2 year old microwave and the control board is out. Choice Home Warranty offered 169 dollars to replace a built in microwave. They are out of their mind. Just want my microwave fixed or replaced like their warranty states and in a timely manner!!! Have already been 4 days without a microwave.

I purchased two warranties from Choice Home Warranty, one for my primary residence and the second for a second home. To take advantage of a discount that was offered I paid lump sum in advance for one account and monthly for the other. I submitted two claims separately, different dates and I was told verbally, when each was denied. Closed my accounts. I am filing an appeal. BBB's records show all reviews one star- class action was awarded and now at the appeal level for Home Choice. The reviews on this site questionable. I was treated horribly - the manager was rude and told me to google when I asked a question. Warning. Beware!!

Updated on 09/05/2019: Great Job! Emergency claim has been submitted on 08.27.2019; Choice Home Warranty got a plumber on 09.03.2019. Eight days. House with the kids was with no water! The plumbers did a great job but Choice Home Warranty denied the claim because they don't cover claims resulting from the rust and corrosion. So, when you read that they cover plumbing it is a false statement. They actually don't cover a big part of the plumbing problems because of a significant part of the plumbing problems coming from the rust and corrosion of the components.
Original Review: I got a major leak in my house so the water was shut down. Called Choice Home Warranty and they told me that it can take 24 hours to get the plumber to the house with no water! Over 30 hours past, but no plumber till now. Looks like tomorrow we are going to sleep in a motel to be able to take a shower. Absolutely ridiculous.

I requested information online, then called today to confirm a subscription. But, the first salesman got really pushy and almost rude, so I hung up on him. Since I really did want your service, I called back and this time spoke to Kevin and he was great. We went over all the details and I signed up for your service because of Kevin and only because he was very professional and low-key. I hope this review will also commend Kevin for a job well done. Thank you.

I've got nothing good to say about this company. I've had 7 claims since 2017-2019 and I was denied on all of them due to frivolous reasons. I've had the tech tell me it's normal wear and tear but the company says otherwise. It's a scam, they didn't fix my a/c, washer, other washer, refrigerator, light fixture, garage door opener and main shut off valve leak. They said my a/c had rust on it. Duh! My washer had rust on the drum. So I bought another washer.
The water pump went out on it, they said no because it wasn't the old washer that I threw away. WTF! My light fixture was outside, (yet, connected to the house) My garage door electric motor went out and was too expensive to fix, My outside water faucet that has a whole house shut off valve was not connected to the house or foundation. (BS! It's attached!) Denied, Denied, Denied, Denied, Denied, Denied and Denied. Don't waste your money on these thieves. They told me to fix it myself.

I have been happy with the service from CHW, completely. I would say that some of the vendors chosen to do the work are very far away and scheduling is not very easy. If you could find more vendors in St Petersburg versus Tampa. Also, sometimes it takes 2-3 days to get someone out. I understand if parts have to be ordered afterwards. Thanks, Terry

I have been a member with Choice Home Warranty for a few years now and I am glad I did. I am very happy to be with them because of how they have treated me thus far. CHW has done everything right. CHW has saved me hundreds possibly thousands of dollars in some instances. Most of my repairs (85% of repairs) consisted of plumbing issues alone such as leaky pipes which involved ceiling leaks. It was just horrible. CHW is always there for me and my concerns. CHW always has my back. Great company to be with. Thank you CHW.

Choice, in their marketing literature, lead you to believe that they will repair or replace your central AC unit if needed, but in small print of the coverage terms, the limit for any unit repair is $1300. Since there is no central air unit that can be replaced for less than 2500-6000, their marketing literature is misleading. There are other Home Warranty companies that do not have such a low limit that actually will replace a unit if needed.

When I put in a claim for my hot water heater that went out it was denied and the explanation I received was because the warranty does not cover pre-existing conditions, normal wear and tear and they do not cover the tank! Just the interiors of the hot water heater. Then the plumber technician then said he would do the job for $850.0. When I filed an appeal it took several days for them to get back with me. I would not use CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!!

I was satisfied with the contract but was unhappy that the advertised $75 discount did not apply unless I paid a year in advance. This requirement should be clearly stated where the offer is highlighted. Not in some fine print in a different difficult to find area.

I submitted a claim for refrigerator repair. According to the technician, the diagnosis was the compressor and he was going to recommend Choice to replace the refrigerator because adding freon would only temporarily fix the problem. Two hours later the diagnosis changed from compressor to freon leak. I believe that the technician was told to change the problem to be more beneficial to Choice Home Warranty. I disputed the determination because it was a direct contradiction to what the technician said was the issue. A case manager was assigned to resolve the issue. She called me to say, he says he didn't say that and your claim is denied. The monthly payments in addition to the service fee could have been used to purchase a new refrigerator.

After paying over $1,000.00 for a home warranty with Choice Home Warranty I feel cheated. When I first called they could not get a technician for three days. It was in the 90’s and very uncomfortable. After calling them they told me I could call my own technician. I went through HomeAdvisor and had someone out the same day. He followed Choice’s procedure and called them and told them what was wrong. They then required pictures and pricing for everything down to the screws.
They declined the warranty claim so I asked that it be elevated to a manager. Declined again! This time when I called I was told to see if there was any manufacturer warranty on any parts. They agreed to pay the labor to put those parts in. When I Called back and told him what was covered under warranty they then lied and said they never told me they would pay labor.
