    Awful service company. My bathroom sinks were not draining. Simple repair. Waited two weeks for technician not to show up. Not the first time. I have had a problem every time I have called them. I tried to cancel but they deducted all the services calls I made and number of days into the contract, so I would get back almost nothing of the over $2000 that I spent. I was told by two contractors that they have not gotten paid by Choice for the work they have done. Given their reputation, no competent contractor wants to work with them. Raised their co-pay to $65.

    I'm giving a one because my experience is that I've had this plan for three years and while they did cover some items, I had to fight to get them covered. Multiple times they had me scheduled with a service, service never showed up and when I called the service provider they said there was no such appointment scheduled. I had a unit that was broken And had someone come three times without being fixed to only have the final Claim denied due to the one part that is (potentially) broken being the one part not covered. In my opinion, Customer service is my biggest complaint... Horrible. Just absolutely horrible. I do believe you have basic easy fixes, you will probably be ok though.

    The five stars are for the technician. If I was rating, Choice, I would have chosen one star. Our technician, Lee **, was very kind and knowledgeable. He was on time and took care of everything we needed. I tried to contact Choice warranty several times to ask a question. I always had to leave my callback number and they never called me back. The only time Choice calls me is when they want me to renew my contract, which I will never do again.

    I recently had an issue with my Frigidaire upright freezer and Choice dispatched a technician out right away. I was quite surprised at how quickly they were able to get someone out to diagnose the problem. The compressor seemed to be the issue, and I was told it would be several days before there would be an answer on the repairs. The very next day, I received a response from Choice and they decided it would be best to replace the freezer with a new one and sent me a very reasonable financial solution, which was very close to being enough to replace the freezer. I was very pleased with the response time and the final solution they recommended. If you are looking for an excellent home warranty program, Choice is your answer.

The only hiccup in the process was a delay in getting a required permit pulled which 1st Choice Plumbing was unaware it needed.     My experience with Tidewater Heating and Air Conditioning was absolutely wonderful. The two technicians that came and fixed our AC and saved us from the triple digit heat were amazing. They came to the house, asked specific questions and quickly identified the issue, and fixed it. We had been melting in 85-90 degrees Indoors temperatures since Friday around noon. I realize that the claims department had worked very hard to find qualified technicians in this heat wave where there were so many people needing HVAC issues fixed. When they elevated the claim to the Dispatch Department on Sunday, they worked very hard to get us an appointment with a company here on the Carolina coast.

    By Monday we had an appointment set up with Tidewater for August 8th. But that would have meant being without AC for another week. Tidewater called to confirm the appointment and at that time on Monday morning, we were scheduled for a week out. The dispatcher at Tidewater offered to put on standby for the first cancelation, and she said she would call if a technician freed up before our appointment on August 8th. She was a miracle worker and found an opening the next morning and called to see if we would be home for the technicians to come fix our AC, so by Tuesday noon they had diagnosed the issue, obtained the part need for the repair and fixed the system. It took about 8 hours for the house to cool down from 87 to a comfortable 72 degrees in the downstairs, and from 90 down to 75 in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom.

    By midnight they had diagnosed entire house was a comfortable 70 degrees and we didn’t have to run all the fans. We rated 3 Stars for Choice Warranty and they worked very hard to find us a an Appointment. The rating would be 5 Stars if my disabled husband and son didn’t have to suffer without AC for 96 hours. But the Tidewater HVAC company gets strong 5 Star rating from us for the quick and efficient service, Thank you all for your dedication to getting our AC running again.     The last time I used CHW I paid the upfront fee for the repair and received NOTHING! The techs were supposed to order the part to install but never followed up so the repair was not done. This was unusual as before, the repairs were always completed. CHW closed the claim so I was told the only way to get this repair complete was to pay another upfront fee.     After 22 days without a working refrigerator, I am completely disillusioned with Choice Home Warranty (CHW). While they initially approved the compressor replacement (covering labor but not the part), a second issue was identified by the repair vendor—a faulty evaporator coil. Requests for approval were submitted on July 24, July 29, and again on July 30, with no response until I followed up repeatedly.

    When CHW finally responded, their decision was baffling: they agreed to cover the part; however, not the labor. This is the complete opposite of how they handled the compressor replacement, where they covered labor and not the part.     It took more than 2 weeks to get an Air Conditioner technician, during a heat wave and while I have a heart medical condition. That was awful. Then after the technician sent pictures of the leak in the condenser someone said that the damage was caused by a weed-wacker. That is B.S. because no weed-wacker has ever been near the Condenser unit. In fact, there is a wooden fence around to protect it. It was obvious that the leaky condenser coil was caused by normal corrosion and vibration. So now we have to work this out with a Case manager to get this resolved. That said, in April of 2025 my range broke, I sent the report and they sent a repair man out in a few days who claimed to fix it but actually lied.     Updated on 08/04/2025: On 6-29-25, I filed a claim for service on our washing machine. I received notification from Choice that a technician would arrive on 7-14-25. I waited all day on the technician to arrive but they never came or called. I called the technician and was advised they would arrive 7-24-25. Technician arrived and stated he needed to order a part. After no further contact, I called the technician and was advised the next available appointment was 8-19-25! Additionally, I checked my claim on line and reflected the claim was “COMPLETED!” After multiple “chats” and calls to Choice, on 8-4-25 I called and spoke with Pat, id number 3924 with the Resolution Department.

    I advised I’ve already paid for this contract with Choice, paid a $75 technician fee, spent $50 in laundry mat service, hauled clothes to friends house to wash, waited since 6-29-25 for service, waited all day on a technician to show up on 7-15-25 (they did not), was told I had to wait until 8-19-25 for service, called the Resolution Department and was told they would re-submit the claim and expedite!!! Are you kidding me?!?! I simply ask that Choice Home Warranty send me the money they were going to pay the technician and I would get my washer fixed. This was denied. Quite probably one of the biggest scams I’ve ever seen!

    Not only did this contract cost me money, I had to spend money to wash my clothes, paid money for a technician fee for no reason, and wasted my time. I am retired, live on a fixed income, and purchased this policy for peace of mind! This actually cost me more money than just the policy! I hope this company is proud that you have taken advantage of a retired person!

    DO NOT TRUST CHOICE HOME WARRANTY! I was blatantly lied to by salesman Glen Harkin when I signed up for Choice Home Warranty. He assured me my AC would be 100% covered if it broke - no fees, no co-pays. I trusted him & paid around $3,500 for the policy, which I’ve been renewing for over 20 years without issue... until now.

    When my AC condenser broke, CHW claimed they’d cover the outside unit but said I had to replace the inside unit out-of-pocket to make the system work properly. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place, especially while dealing with my son’s upcoming surgery. I had no choice but to pay nearly $4,000 out of pocket to get it working again.

    To make matters worse, They refused to honor what their salesman told me - Glen ** was only interested in his commission & lied about fees & any amounts that I would need to cover. They wouldn’t budge on price or even offer a partial reimbursement. Communication was a disaster - no one called me back. I even reached out to the CEO Jim Mostofi & got completely ignored. They refused to listen to the licensed AC technician, who advised I needed a 5-ton unit for my home, not the insufficient 4-ton they insisted on replacing. I offered to pay the difference between the 4-ton & 5-ton they still said no. This company showed zero respect or loyalty to a long-term customer. I’d called for years about upstairs not cooling properly & when it finally broke, they used fine print and excuses to avoid helping. It was cold-hearted, especially during a crisis

    Bottom line: DON’T TRUST THEIR SALESPEOPLE. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Their “coverage” is riddled with loopholes & their customer service is nonexistent when you actually need them. If you're considering CHW, I suggest scanning the contract into ChatGPT before signing. Let AI help you find all the buried gotchas they’ll throw at you when you’re desperate & vulnerable. Loyalty means nothing to this company. And clearly, neither does integrity.

    Process is too drawn out. Had a water leak upstairs coming through ceiling. We called them first. They said they'd find a vendor for us. That was on a Thursday. On Monday, they still had not found anyone so we asked if we could get our own plumber and be reimbursed.     My husband and I bought our first home in Texas two months ago. I want to warn every one on this page to avoid Choice Home Warranty AT ALL COSTS!! They are a SCAM, They take your money and deny every claim regardless of whether the service is included in the contract. Every phone interaction has been below subpar to the point where they begin yelling at you. I have had the worse experience with them and even though we got the most expensive plan and additional pool/spa coverage, it did not cover anything. Every single claim gets denied, they change the technicians diagnosis to not pay out the claims. If I could give them 0 stars I would, Please do yourself a favor and don't get a contract with CHOICE HOME WARRANTY, you will thank me later.

    Absolutely terrible. If you want to get something fixed, expect it to take 3 weeks. They struggle to get anyone out to help with your problem. Pricing is decent and what they cover is great but don't expect fast service. They cover a ton, but they don't have a large enough network to meet your needs. Their customer service is terrible as well. If you press them to get someone out sooner, all they will say is "I understand your frustration and we are actively working on getting someone out" but they don't actually get anyone out. You have to go through all of this, and then they will most likely deny your claim. Just avoid this company. It's worth going with a company that charges more.

    I had a Samsung washer that stopped spinning. CHW denied my claim because they said the technician stated the damage was caused by a power surge. I called the technician, and he said that was a lie; he didn't give them a reason at all, just what needed to be done. I asked to speak to a supervisor; he was rude and very condescending and refused to email me the technician's report. CHW had previously approved claims to replace a ceiling fan, repair a microwave, repair a garbage disposal, and repair a garage door.     I contacted CHW on July 25th about 0945. I was advised that it may take CHW 24 to 48 hours to contact a contractor. During this conversation, I still had water leaking out of the tank after shutting off the main water valve to our home. I advised CHW that we can't wait up to 48 hours. CHW advised me that I can use my own contractor.

    After reading some customer reviews, I discovered that CHW may not reimburse me if I use my contractor. Therefore, I cancelled them today and I have accepted the fact that we may go 2 days, 4 days or even a week without hot water. My greatest complaint is that CHW will not allow a customer to communicate directly in person on the phone. Text only via AI. But if I call CHW to inquire about buying an insurance plan, I will have a representative call me within minutes!!! CHW is all about taking your money and NOT customer service.

    The GE technician who diagnosed and fixed the refrigerant leak was knowledgeable and efficient. He explained what happens over time, and quickly resolved the issue. He also explained that there was nothing that I could have done to prevent the blockage from occurring. He cleaned out the refrigerant hole, and increased the size of it so that the fluid could flow more efficiently. I would highly recommend this particular GE technician to diagnose and repair any GE appliance.

    I’ve had a terrible experience with Choice Home Warranty and want to warn others. They sent two different vendors to fix my stove, which overheats even when set to low. The second vendor admitted the first one didn’t know what they were doing yet ended up doing the exact same thing. Unsurprisingly, the stove went right back to malfunctioning a week later.

    When I explained the recurring issue, the vendor asked me what I thought the problem was as if I were the technician! I told him I didn’t know but believed I probably needed a new stove. Instead of passing along my concerns, he lied and told Choice that I refused service, which was completely false. Now I’ve told Choice I don’t feel safe allowing this vendor back in my home. He was dishonest, and I no longer trust him. But instead of sending a new vendor at no cost as they should Choice is saying I’ll have to pay another service fee. Why should I pay again when they failed to fix it the first two times?

    Bottom line: I’ve spent over $150 out-of-pocket and my stove still isn’t fixed. Choice Home Warranty seems more interested in protecting bad vendors than protecting their customers. They’re trying to force me to let someone I don’t trust back into my home, which is unacceptable. I will not compromise my safety and neither should you. Think twice before signing up with them.

    The technician was great. He worked hard at trying to fix the fan. It worked for a day then went back to a noisy very slow start again. It is old and needs replacing but the technician said it was his job to try to fix it first and if that didn’t work then he would have to get authorization to replace it. So that is where we are at.

    Fridge seals went bad and called warranty to address. Tech came out and said it needed new seals. Very nice guy. Got the parts and tried to fix two weeks later. No go on new seals.     Choice Home Warranty has a lot of fine print and will deny your claim easily without justification. I've filed 2 claims for both of them to be denied. Upon consulting with a case manager there is a lot of back and forth as to the reason for the denial. After spending 58 minutes discussing the issue I was placed on hold several times for her to even get definitions and consultation on what she was telling me the reason by claim had been denied. They are in it for the initial cost for you to get a warranty but yet will find any definition for them to not honor the claim. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

    DO NOT USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!! They sent some random person to my rental claiming they were a technician. He then proceeded to blow a fuse in my tenant's home and then misdiagnosed my stove issue. I then had to find my own tech and had to pay two service call fees even though Choice said I'd only have to pay one. I also had to pay for repairs that their tech caused because choice will not cover damage the techs they send do.

    When I finally got the diagnosis a month later they decided they wouldn't cover the repair and would only replace the stove but also they only pay "their price" and no one know what that is. The cheapest stove I could get that matched what I had was 799.00 and Choice only paid me out 380.00. I was flat out lied to by their sales people and they are so vague in their contract that they can basically do what ever they want. All together I have spend over 1500 to fix all of this and pay them. Absolute scam of a company! BEWARE!!

    Unfortunately, I had to fight to get my air conditioner repaired. It broke down on a hot summer day, on the 16th, a Wednesday, in 90-degree weather. I sent multiple emails that day, because it normally takes 3-5 days before CHW sends the job to a technician. The next day, I was assigned to a company with the date of the 24th--which would have been 8 days in 90-degree weather! I argued with them and pleaded and emailed and called multiple times, because I have a special-needs son who cannot tolerate extreme temperatures. That appointment got cancelled and scheduled to the 28th! 12 days in this weather would have been deadly to my special-needs son, who has temperature dysregulation issues.

    After multiple emails and a threat to get legal help due to the danger of this situation, they sent me to a live person in Customer Service, (I was at work on the phone arguing with them) who immediately found another technician available on Sunday the 20th. Once the Technician arrived on Sunday, it was literally fixed with 15 minutes and working wonderfully! We are still in a deadly heat advisory, and I regret that CHW didn't actually connect me with an available technician until I threatened legal action, which I would have taken the next day if they didn't respond. I am thankful that the air conditioner is now working beautifully, but it took many threats to get action.

    My dishwasher, which broke on 6/25/25, still is not fixed, although they approved a repair for $272 on 7/11/25, in the form of a Lowe's Gift Card, which still has not arrived. I still have no gift card. I have been paying CHW for over 8 years. They used to be good and quick. I am sorely disappointed in their service, which would have been deadly to my special-needs son if I did not fight.
