    Our A/C stopped working and it was close to 90 degrees outside. Choice sent the repairman within 48 hrs and the problem was fixed.     Refrigerator not working. Called for repair - It can not be repaired. The claim was processed for a cash payment towards replacement of a new one. The repair person came out within 4 hours after my call to Choice Warranty.     My household consists of 3 disabled adults including a 104 year old Grandmother. Do to the pandemic we have quarantined to keep her safe. 5/25-water heater stopped working, claim was submitted, a repair company was assigned, Then we the company and received an email stating that for the claim to proceed I need to agree to pay a flat rate of $400 to the Repair company. The company Owner is as confused as I so CHW Which I Have been a customer for over 5 years and my new Paid in full contract expires 3/2022.

    Supervisors, Coordinators have not been able to find in my contract where it stipulates that I need to pay this money to replace a water heater. SO I CONSIDER this entire debacle a violation of ADA act and Elder abuse. For not providing a proper resolution to to this issue. I am worried that the health of my 104 year old Grandmother could be compromised. I am extremely disappointed and enraged because it's been 6 days and counting and this is not resolved. While having a company assigned willing to do the work, but is reluctant to steal my money. They claim that my copper connecting pipes are rusted, copper does not rust. I have a GE self cleaning water heating tank, that malfunctioned, it needs to be replaced ASAP.

    My Samsung dishwasher leaked water. I called Samsung but they could not find a repair person where I live so they said, "You're free to call one yourself."     Terrible experience with my Microwave claim. First off You could not find a company to service the unit. I had to do that on my own. The company charged me $175 to diagnose which I was only reimbursed $100 for. Then I had to prove to Choice what the diagnosis was and how much which turned out to be $750, this took weeks of time before Choice offered me $279 for a new microwave which was insulting since the unit cost me $1299 new and would now cost me $750 to fix. So overall the warranty that some kid sold me on a Saturday morning was not what I expected. My advice for Choice would be understand your customer. Ask what type of appliances they own before you tell them, "You are covered."

    I am not at all pleased with the Home Warranty. I had a home inspection completed. Home inspector found some things about the AC he didn’t like. As part of our closing agreement an HVAC technician came out. He worked on the oil heat and checked over the rest of the system saying all was good and within standard specifications. He didn’t document and pressure or anything for Freon leaks. Fast forward, we move in everything is working for a few weeks and the A/C stops. The warranty folks send one of their folks out to look at it, and he finds its frozen and must be out of Freon.

    CHW in protection of having to replace the HVAC in my house, are saying it was preexisting. Therefore they do not have to warranty it. If a licensed tech says it works after a home inspector who isn’t a licensed HVAC guy finds a problem. It shouldn’t be preexisting. I wouldn’t recommend buying a warranty from them unless you have a newer home that has no problems. Thankfully my home owners insurance has equipment replacement and looks after its customers more than refunding their $65 dollar service fee.

    Paid in full for two Total Care Service Warranties for two rental properties for 6 years. Salesperson stated that with the Total Care Package, all appliances and systems will be insured for 6 years on both properties. I informed the sales person that my Air Condition units were very old, and the Freon was the R-22 rated Freon that is no longer made, nor is the industry longer allowed to replace the equipment for R-22 Freon. Salesperson assured me that the A/C unit would be replaced once it no longer functions correctly. Within four months of the coverage date, one air condition unit stops working; so, I made a claim with this company. I had two independent contractors go out to the property before and after their 'technician' to get more quotes on the equipment, and better understand the problem. Choice Home Warranty denied the claim citing the arbitrary 'maintenance' clause in their multiple 'Exclusions' section. (Often cited).

    The technician the company used was not cooperative in explaining the situation behind the company's denial, but stated the equipment was very old and needed to be replaced. His words were 'Dirt and Debris', and sounded routine and well-rehearsed like the rhetoric used in the company's denial. I asked for the pictures he sent to the company, and he stated that he did not want to get in the middle of the dispute, because he did not want to lose their contract. I filed an appeal, and was given a 'Case Manager' who took way too long to review the appeal, and return my multiple calls, and emails. (All the while, my tenants were going without air conditioning!) When the 'Case manager' finally contacted me (out of an office 8 hours away), he spewed the routine "Based on the 'evidence' (pictures taken from their technician), we will no longer go forward with your claim."

    He went on to say that the unit did not appear to be maintained properly (a condition not conceptualized or disclosed in their contracts or disclosed from their salespersons), and therefore allowed them from honoring their contractual agreement. This case manager could not answer my inquiry, when begging the questions "Do you know the last time I performed maintenance on the equipment?" The case manager could not answer the question. The case manager did not want to answer my inquiries as to what constitutes 'maintenance'.

    This case manager could not guarantee that the pictures (for which I pay for with my contract agreement) he reviewed were my unit. This case manager refused to disclose any information utilized in finding his determination. This case manager could not disclose any reasoning behind his determination, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, he stated that there was no supervisor, and that he was the final say in the appeals process.

    These operational practices are borderline felonious, due to their sales department making lots of promises that their maintenance/operations/claims department appear to almost always dishonor. I highly advise to not waste your time and money on this company because their claims process for major issue problems are indicative to drain you, their client, consumer, and customer, down with unfair appeals processes, lack of disclosure to their determination materials, and their common, yet very nebulous "Exclusions" parts for all their 'covered' appliances and systems strategically inconspicuous when discussing warranties with their sales representatives. Again, I highly advise to not utilize this company if you are wanting to get fair coverage on high dollar equipment.

    Choice Warranty sent a company that completely misdiagnosed my AC issue and they subsequently denied the claim because of it. AC company refused to call back with explanation or estimate to repair. Reputable company diagnosed within 5 minutes the correct issue which would have been covered by the warranty. Now I'm out over 100 dollars plus the fee they originally charged for coming out only to misdiagnose the issue. Filed complaint. Have yet to hear back about compensation.

    I’m very disappointed with the handling of my claim. Yes, it was approved right away, but to make my family wait two days for a replacement water heater is unacceptable. Maybe all of you reading this would like to TRY and bathe in cold water out of a pot with a wash cloth. Seriously?! Why couldn’t the techs go immediately to their warehouse or a Lowe’s/Home Depot and get one immediately to install. That is not customer service. I’m sure my claim will slow down even more after you read this and if that does happen, I will cancel my membership and find someone else. I was told Old Republic looks after their customers better than this. NOT HAPPY. Also having to pay for other small incidentals not covered doesn’t make me happy. Almost $200 it will cost me. When a person gets coverage, a reasonable person would expect COVERAGE. Not this nickel and dime crap.

    The washing machine is wobbling Bad when it is spinning. It needs to be adjusted in the bottom. The job was never done. Sears has to reschedule the appointment 3 times and I have to pay somebody for each time they reschedule just so there is somebody at home.     Choice Home Warranty Company are liars and thieves. Save your money and do business with another reputable company. They couldn't after 8 attempts get a repair technician out to repair our Sub Zero refrigerator. We had to find our own authorized tech. Our second claim was our GE Adora washing machine. They decided it would be replaced. Yet didn't pay enough to replace it, $600 out of the actual $1050 it cost to replace. Our most recent claim on ac unit was a cheap simple fix. That's the only reason it was repaired. Absolutely will never recommend them to anyone else. It's sad that 2 family members purchased multi year contracts from our recommendations. That will never happen again.

    I placed a claim. The company came out promptly and indicated that they would have to follow up with Choice. I received an email shortly after that. Stated that it was declined. I was directed to the section explaining. All of that was unfortunate but Choice made the decision. I was told that I would be assigned a case manager. I received a prompt email. I have made 2 calls and 2 emails and have still not received a response from the assigned case manager. Meanwhile, my item is still not repaired when I could have done it on my own. I haven’t because it states in the letter from the case manager to NOT complete any repairs until I have been in contact with this person. Very disappointed and will be cancelling my warranty service once this issue is resolved (and hopefully that is soon).

    I have been paying monthly for years. When you need service it is on their schedule not yours. They do not respect your years of being a client. I do not like how the client is told when their repair person will come out. You have no say as to the time. You have to wait 5 hours for the person to come. You are not told of a cancellation, so you wait. Horrible service. You are not put first. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

    I opened a claim on Memorial day for a clogged drain in my kitchen sink. After 24 hours and no appointment yet set up I contacted CHW to escalate. I waited for a representative for about 15 minutes. Within minutes after the call, I received a recorded message to confirm an appointment - for the following Monday! Obviously I can’t be without a kitchen sink and dishwasher for a week, so I contacted the contractor myself and didn’t have any problem with getting them to come the next day. This was my first experience with CHW as I’m new, and it wasn’t a good one. Hopefully next time is better, or it will be a short relationship.

    The technician was nice, but I had to follow-up with him about his action which prolonged the issue. But that is not the larger problem. A determination was made and e-mailed out. When I called, the call quality was bad. I did not receive a callback or anything. I do NOT like how Choice handles customers or their customer service. The limitations of their warranties has come up several times and it is not worth the hassle with them. Everything the technicain says is gospel. In a partnership, the end goal should be at the forefront, but they only care about the money and closing issues.

    I have had three claims since the start of my policy with Choice Home Warranty. The first two were very satisfactory, but this last one of 5/18 not so much. I will attribute some of it to the pandemic then we are all face with, But, after being told you hadn’t gotten a service acceptance, the reimbursement package was offered, I found an installer, but wasn’t given approval and afterwards I was then contacted with a service rep. It was a holiday weekend coming up and I would have preferred to have a prepare before, as opposed to a week later. I’m still in wait until Monday, June 1st.

    I picked up a home warranty plan from Choice to be protected against the unforeseen. The moment a claim is out in, their true colors show. My claim was denied due without a valid and well thought out explanation. Feels like it was just a templated rejection. The appeals process is very one-sided and objective. A complete joke. Pay a little bit extra and go with a company you can trust and will be there for you when you need it. Otherwise, you are stuck with other recourse such as contacting the Attorney General for tour state, Better Business Bureau and taking legal action. Just not worth the aggravation. Worst “partnership” agreement I ever entered into! Caveat Emptor!

    I have been in need of two "fixes" with Choice Home Warranty. The first was a roof leak which I was told I did not have (I was never offered it) and the second is going on right now. I have a broken air conditioner. It needs a reverse valve which is excluded from coverage and freon from the valve leak. It's a $2700+ repair and CHW does not cover any of it. I was told I could appeal, but I don't feel like that would do any good.

    I decided to put the repair money toward a new air conditioner and cancel my home warranty because there are more exclusions than there are inclusions! Very disappointed in my experience with CHW. Also, I tried to call on 4 separate occasions to see what was going on with my claim and Customer Service disconnected me 3 times!

    Septic alarm activated at 05:00 am. Filed claim for service at 08:23. Received email from CHW informing me they were having difficulty finding service technician in a timely manner and giving me the option to find my own service co. I hired a local septic service and they came and diagnosed failure of my septic pump. I was unable to obtain authorization for work as we were not able to contact CHW by phone and technician had no computer available to file authorization request. I elected to have technician replace pump as I did not wish to add to my woes with backed up sewage. Reimbursement for service was denied because no preauthorization was obtained. Had I saved all the money I spent on premiums for the home warranty I could have paid for the pump 10x over. Lesson learned—home warranty useless. Save your premium payments and pay for repairs that way.

    I'm writing this review at the moment because I received an email asking for one, however we are still weeks into a claim with no progress. Choice has been very inconsistent with responses and has changed and canceled technician appointments. I have received multiple different appointment times from Choice that do not match the appointment the technician set up. Also, Choice is now requiring a test to be performed which they do not cover. Very disappointing that after more than 3 weeks we have had nothing other than the initial appointment where the technician made recommendations, still waiting for Choice to react. Depending on how the rest of this process goes we may be moving to a different warranty company.

    Please to say the AC is working fine. It was a noise the unit suppose to make. We didn’t know the ac and furnace used same system.     I purchased the Choice plan. I had a pipe burst inside a wall and call right after it happened in the early morning. I tried shutting the water to the house off with no success. I could not shut off the main water source from the box on the street because I did not have the proper tool. After repeated calls to Choice Home Warranty and being left on hold for an hour with no one picking up I filed a claim online explaining my situation. 4hours later I get a robot call saying a technician would come tomorrow. At this point I could not wait for them. I called a local company and had the problem fixed in a couple hours. I then called the technician and cancelled the appointment for the following day. I called back Choice Home warranty and after an extensive hold time, I explained my situation and the lady told me she was sorry but I could not be compensated. She also told me they do not do emergencies. Horrible Company!

    Place a call to Choice on a Monday and was told I'd be contacted by a local company. Soon after I was contacted and given a service date for Friday and given a 4hr window. Friday comes and so does my window. 2 hrs after my window closes I call the company to find out where they are. I am told an emergency came up but they were still coming. It is now 6.30 pm. The service person arrived, told me my problem and said it needed to be replaced. 4 days later I contacted choice to find out my next step. I emailed with them 7 times. The only answer I received was that my repair was approved. I repeatedly asked what are the next steps, is there any out of pocket expense and a few more questions that STILL are not answered. I've never had a warranty like this so I don't know what is next and STILL GOT NO ANSWERS.

    My experience with the sales representative, Marc, was that he was condescending and pushy. When I wouldn't agree to his forceful push of a three year term, he then became quite dismissive and quickly rushed me off the phone. He also gave information that was inaccurate such as stating there is no limit to the amount of a claim that will be paid when the contract clearly stated otherwise. After receipt of the policy, when I brought it to his attention that what he said contradicted the terms of the contract, he became defensive, cut me off, and talked down to me as though I were incapable of reading simple English. I am an attorney so I am more than capable of reading a contract and what he sold me on during the conversation was not true.     I am currently looking for a new home warranty plan and when I find one I am going to tell the five people that I had sign up with you guys to leave in about my Experience with Choice. You guys sold me coverage on on a above ground hot tub. I explained exactly what I had when I had a problem with it. You guys could not find someone to come out and take care of it. When I found someone I was told I would be in reimbursed then when it all came down to it you guys said you did not cover above ground hot tubs so I lost the money that I had for the service contractor to come out and look at my hot tub and I lost the money that it cost me to fix the hot tub then I called guys back and ask them if they sold a above ground hot tub package and the salesman trying to sell me one. This is not good business. Is the most horrible experience I’ve ever had with a company.

    After calling and reporting the issue I asked them to try to expedite the service call because the heat must have been off for a while as it was cold in the house when I awoke. I do understand that you have procedures to follow and that it all takes time. Then around 2:00 PM the furnace started working on its own. My issue is not with anything I listed above.

    The issue is that I tried to cancel the service call and now on 5/19/2020 or 5/20/2020 I get notified that a service call has been scheduled for 5/22/2020 which I was able to cancel by calling the company that was going to perform the service call. But it looks like my request to cancel was never received by Choice because a service call was still scheduled. Again this service call not being canceled, while inconvenient was just that, but if you do the math, I reported the issue on 5/9/2020 and a service call finally gets scheduled for 13 days later!? I guess it's a good thing for me that the furnace started on its own because it looks to me like we would otherwise have been without heat for 13 days!

    This company will do whatever they can to avoid paying on a claim- they will gladly take your money for the warranty coverage and the service fee but will not honor the warranty. They will use the maintenance clause even when the tech assessing the problem advises that the issue is not something that will be captured or discovered during a maintenance check. Dishonest business practices. Very difficult to reach my case manager, left several messages and emails with no return call. Waited on hold for 30 minutes with customer service- was disconnected when the agent placed me on hold. I tried these guys after my previous warranty company raised their rates a bit, very big mistake. I should have stayed with them, buyer beware.

    After 1 year of having a warranty with Choice, I made my first claim. My $1200 washing machine broke and was too expensive to repair. I was originally offered $200 to replace it, which I of course denied. After that, to speak to someone regarding my claim took forever. Meanwhile I am out of a washing machine. After finally talking to an adjuster I was offered the maximum of $425. I was told that the policy states (which it does so beware) that they are only required to match similar features and apparently they get to determine which features not the consumer. I need a washing machine with the heated sanitation cycle and you can't get that for $425. But she said it's ok because I can still get what I want I just have to pay for it myself.

    On top of that the $425 is an arbitrary amount they decide because they only to provide wholesale, not retail. Apparently they decide that too. I was never offered any other option so it was take the $425 or nothing. Then when I called to cancel my policy, I was told that they could only cancel on the day I called so I would lose the coverage for the rest of the month until my next policy kicked in. Since it took me several times to actually speak to someone to cancel it after being put on hold for over 20 minutes more than once, I just cancelled it anyway. Of course they don't want to lose a customer so it took me at least 20 minutes to just get the employee to cancel it. Every experience I have had with this company has been negative. I don't usually write reviews but I want to save anyone from the horrible experience.

    I have warranties from Choice Home Warranty on 2 rental homes (which are both ver $400,000). I have had the warranties for over a year. Just recently both homes had an issue that required Choice to assist in repair. The first issue was a hot water that went bad. Although, Choice said they would replace the unit, it took them 5 days to do so. All the while, the mother had just come home from having brain cancer surgery. She and her family had NO hot water for 5 days. A simple 2 hour replacement was all was needed. Choice played games with me and I finally had to threaten legal action before they got serious.

    The other issue had to do with a fan motor for an air conditioning compressor. Choice said they would not repair or replace anything because I never maintained the unit. Funny thing is I pay a technician who is certified in HVAC to inspect the unit every year. They told me I was to blame are not covering it. Never asked me if I maintain it, only that they say I do not. I am at my wit's end with these folks. They took my money for over a year but when it came time to deliver, they were deplorable. DON'T BUY A WARRANTY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!!

    The technician did finally contact me, scheduled an appointment for the next day and showed up for the appointment. He diagnosed the issue, CHW approved the repair and we are waiting for CHW to forward the part to the technician for his installation.

    Today is my first experience using my Choice Home Warranty. I notified CHW of the problem at 11:45 am today and almost immediately got an email with an Order # and told to expect a call once a technician was notified. It is now 2:30 pm and I am still waiting for that notification!

    I am very happy with this warranty. It was super easy to file the claim and within less than 24 hrs, the technician was already assigned to the case. The technician came on time and was very knowledgeable and professional. He diagnosed the problem quickly and filed an authorization with Choice to get the parts.     The first repairman you sent took the $65, said he needed to order a part, and disappeared forever. The second guy was great, but was a plumber, and diagnosed the dishwasher as the leakage problem, and he was not an appliance technician. $65 again. The third guy was also very good, but said needed to order a pump, and wasn't sure if they still made them or not. Was going to try to order a pump - another $65. I emailed Choice and asked for an update, which I have not received yet. I have spent $195 so far, and still have a leaky dishwasher. I assume when/if the third guy comes back, I will owe another $65 - really not feeling right at this point.

    It turns out that this insurance is not helpful. When needed it’s either excluded or not covered. Even when covered the limits are so extreme. My 900 dryer stopped working and you didn’t want to repair so you only paid for a standard dryer of 399 dollars. Same with a refrigerator I had when it had an issue. There you paid me for the part that was not made anymore. After 4 years I have decided that Choice is not as good as others I have had that actually fixed and repaired things. I will not be renewing.

    I’ve had a Choice Home Warranty plan for 9 months and had never used it. On 5/17, I called about a leaky toilet and to my surprise got an email back about a technician coming the next day. The phone customer service was excellent and professional. I was truly surprised by how quickly everything happened. The technician that came to my house was professional and helpful. He submitted an estimate and was back on 5/19 with the parts needed to fix the problem. I was concerned about having someone over the house during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The technician, Adriano had his mask on as I had mine. This reassured me that they were taking measures to protect themselves and others. He will be returning to replace a valve that didn’t fit but left everything working fine.

    Very poor customer service! Called my claim on Sunday morning that my A/C in my house was not working. They scheduled a repair for the next day between 11:00 and 3:00. The repair person finally arrived at 8:30 PM after dark. Went to my outside condenser and said he wasn’t qualified to work on my unit and left. I called the next day to get another repair person scheduled. After several calls, they scheduled a repair person for Friday! I explained to Choice that I needed repaired sooner as my house is in excess of 80 degrees. They are uncaring and inflexible. I think I am going to cancel my contract with them! Do not use their service! In a word, it is TERRIBLE!
