    I purchased the Warranty under the “we fix it, or replace it” slogan. Well my air conditioning unit needed servicing, the tech sent to my home said he found a leak in the unit that could not be repaired and the unit needed to be replaced. Choice warranty did not honor their claim, stating that the only way they would replace the unit was if I could provide a paper trail showing that I had the unit serviced every year, something I knew nothing about. I did not have a paper trail. They informed me that they would continue to repair the unit as much as need until my 3 year contract ended. Well the unit went again this year and would not even repair it. They never even bothered to contact me. I have two different contracts with this company. A rip off company.

    This company is the bigger scammer company I ever seen. If your answer for the first question blows 5 they will cut you off. You can’t live feedback. I have paid 5 years in advance. When I have problems with my refrigerator I call and make a claim but I have to wait 3 days for the appointments. Call to see if they can do it faster no luck. Try to bring my own technician they denied that and over all that they hang up the phone in my face so I have 6 kids, most of my food went bad and I call my own technician and I paid him in my pocket and he say can’t be fix so I purchase new one.

    Claim was denied even though malfunctioning was evidently due to wear and tear - AC unit was 12 years old and the compressor locked up. Determination of their lame excuse was based on pictures that we sent. Basically they said we didn't take care of the unit. The unit was given maintenance periodically.

    Problem with my AC. Choice sent service person who looked at unit and said it would be covered under our warranty. I paid him $65.00 for the service call, also gave him a tip. He said he would me back the next day to make the repair. He called later and said Choice did not want to cover the repair. I'm still in shock being treated like this after paying over $1100.00.

    The repairman was early because of a cancellation. He looked at my disposal and took mandatory pictures, he waited a half hour for the go ahead, but left after he couldn’t contact Choice. He explained that is if okayed he would be back to do the work. He returned a few days after to install a new one after it was approved.     So far Unstoppers has made 3 visits to my home, 2 no show no call. The problem persists it is now running every 15 minutes or so. Tony's Plumbing was supposed to come yesterday but when I called him 2 hrs after appt time he said he tried to call a few times. I looked at my caller ID and his number matched a couple of calls from Vanya **. If I don't recognize the name or number I don't answer. Hopefully my running toilet will be fixed today!     I have had a AC issue in my property. The Choice Home Warranty sent a technician to fix it. First attempt failed. After a week technician came a diagnosed that the evaporator coils need to be replaced. The technician was authorized to replace the air handler. But he want to replace the heat pump which costs $2460! After that I contacted the Choice Home Warranty and the case manager more than 100 times. Nobody is responding to my calls, emails, voice mails. It is a complete frustration. I never recommend to buy a service from this company. They are irresponsible and disrespectful. They don't pay any attention to the customers. The most basic response is just call back the customer.

    This company is the worst. Never ever sign up with them. I have tried to get my air conditioning fixed for over a month and they have been jerking me around for over a month. I live in Texas and it is 102 degrees here and I am 73 years old and I am disabled and they won’t fix it. I gave them my money and they will not help me. I need help. I have called every day and they will not get anyone that can do anything.     I have no problem with Choice Warranty, but the company (J5) leaves something to be desired. It took a few days for them to even answer the phone. When I finally connected with them, they e-mailed me a date which did not work because of a doctor's appointment. Took another few days to make that change. The tech told me he would call me on Tuesday at 5:00 when he got home to make another apointment. Never heard from him. When I read my e-mail the following morning, I discovered that he was coming sometime between 7 and 11. Due to problem on previous job, he finally arrived around 11:30. He was very polite and knew what he was doing, but the service left a lot to be desired. I also called the phone number available for he company and got the message that the message box was full. The number turned out to be the number of the tech. Guess he is the company.

    Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with this company. My electric range broke As parts to repair the unit are unavailable, the unit was to be replaced. The amount offered to replace the range is far below the amount it's going to cost. Furthermore, my case manager, Freida **, (**) failed to return any phone calls or respond to any emails. When trying to call the company, I was met with rude and sarcastic customer service representatives. Whose comments included, "What do you expect, the world?" And "Well, you didn't pay for it anyways, so 400 dollars is good." I am highly dissatisfied and disappointed in a company that I had such high expectations for.

    I want to express my gratitude to the Choice Warranty Supervisor and the Air Conditioning tech from Boadi that was able to provide a temporary work around for my air conditioning issue until the correct part comes in. The Choice Warranty Supervisor tried her best to assure me everything was going to be alright. I was truly upset and very irate. I was so upset because someone cancelled my previous air conditioning ticket without letting me know, because they assumed my new order was a result of my coil issue which it wasn’t. The Choice Warranty Supervisor did an Excellent job calming me down even though she probably didn't think that she did.

    I apologize for my behavior but I have a 2 year old and a sick husband with a heart condition and is recovering from multiple seizures along with a host of other issues and I did not want them to be affected by the heat.     Don't do it. They will butter you up with "amazing" deal and package. It's not. Service is awful, they won't reimburse for anything. They only care about finding ways to not cover you. Half the time they can't even get you a repair company and tell you best of luck find them yourselves, then you can jump through hoops to get "reimbursed"...maybe.

    Buyer beware! Do yourself a huge favor & read ALL the fine print in your policy guidelines BEFORE purchasing. My air conditioning would & should have been covered for all intents & purposes for a partial reimbursement however the technician sent by Choice reported back to them it was not working due to my negligence. I have had my AC unit serviced every 6 months for a clean & check since I purchased my home 18 years ago. So in other words, Choice is saying every other company who has come to my home to service my AC has been wrong & their 1 technician is the only person to have got it right in 18 years. Now I'm left with a non functioning AC unit in the middle of AZ summer. I had Old Republic for many years. Never should have switched to Choice just to save a couple hundred dollars.     Purchased a warranty April 15, 2020. On June 1, 2020 my stackable washer / dryer went out. I purchased the most expensive warranty package, and CHW, sent me email after email stating “WE CANNOT FIND A TECHNICIAN TO SERVICE YOUR APPLIANCES DUE TO COVID 19.” They continued...”You May find your own technician and send in the findings and we will reimburse within 30 days.” I DOUBT THAT... And this is why.... With the information they provided me I thought I had better call them.

    I emailed them (NO RESPONSE) and so I called them MANY TIMES, left messages AS INSTRUCTED, and again NO RESPONSE!!! Therefore, I called and waited with the soft music for over an hour, finally, Joshua, a resolution manager, ID **, attempted to talk me into finding my own technician, or giving them the opportunity to try again. ((After which, I would have to call in again and go through the whole thing over)) so I said, "No, please just cancel my policy." He said, “Well you will have to spend thousands of dollars on a washer dryer and you will LOSE money if we cancel your policy.“ Joshua continued saying, “We have a 50.00 CANCELLATION FEE AND PRO RATED (2.5 months of policy) will cost you 185.00.” My entire policy cost 550.00 so they deducted 233.33, from that and I received the check today for 316.67. For a two month policy that they admitted, in writing, said, “THEY could not service,“ they charged me 233.33.

    I have filed a complaint with the AZ ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. And I suggest anyone who has a business who makes fraudulent charges against you, simply go online to your Attorney General's Office and fill out the Consumers Complaint online. It takes five to ten minutes. We CANNOT ALLOW these businesses to make their money fraudulently!!! Only 2% of Americans will complain, PLEASE, take a few minutes to make these companies QUIT their bad business practices. THANK YOU!!!

    I never filed any claim on this house until now. My AC has been repaired/maintained to keep cooling for the last few years, but now during Houston's hot summer, coil and condenser finally gave up and I filed a claim, Choice Warranty denied my claim and gave me lots of frustrations. Waste of my time and money. I am utterly disappointed. Case manager from Choice claim department was awful and painful to deal with. I made efforts to provide my AC maintenance invoices that the case manager asked of me to provide, after his much delayed response, he still denied my claim and offered zero help!!! Promised to have other case manager to call me, then broke the promise. Overall totally unreasonable, unethical and unprofessional from Choice claim department. Not to be counted on when you need them.

    Due to covid, the process is a bit confusing. How to get the approval is not very easy as far as the technician submitting the diagnosis online. The technician doesn't want to leave & submit online and then return to fix it. We are trying to limit our exposure to people as workers are trying to limit their exposure to us. Why do you have reps answering the phones but the approval technician are not, those are the reps we need. We had to get it fixed, for the tech to come back would have been more expensive and as I said less contact with people is best for everyone. I can't believe this claim was denied, when we didn't understand the process & I believe if the call was made which we tried it would have been approved. So no I am not very happy with this experience.

    First problem is that since 2017 my plan has had a $45.00 service fee - but when the claim was finalized they said I had a $60.00 service fee. THERE IS NO WAY THAT I WAS ABLE TO REPLACE MY MACHINE FOR $299.99 - it ended up costing $534.00 for a new machine. GRANTED, I bought the previous one as used, but could not find a used washing machine anywhere, and did not feel like wandering all around Orlando in a PANDEMIC looking for one! So for all the money you were supposed to save me, I ended up paying almost $300.00 out of my own pocket!

    Placed a claim on 5/27. Claim update on 5/29, servicing on 5/30. Fee charged, service complete. 5/31 Claim denied from Choice Home Warranty. On 6/9 claim, 6/10 offer for Claim Reimbursement to get your own heating and cooling company. 6/12 New Air Conditioner installed. 6/11 Claim denied, due to prior service call on 4/30. Appealed the denial on 6/13. Sent a email to claim agent on 6/16. Spoke on 6/17. Was told the claim was denied, ask for a copy of the technician's report. Was told I would need to obtain that from the Heating and Cooling company. I reached out to them and was told, when they submit their report it is online and they are not able to see it after it is transmitted to Choice Home Warranty.

    Bottom line Choice Home Warranty, refused both claims and we ended up paying both the service fee, and 2600.00, for a new air conditioner. Waste of time and money to have Home Choice Warranty. Was told they would waive the next 2 months fees. Was charged as normal for July. Would never recommend Home Choice Warranty.

    Our air conditioner stopped working. I filed a claim via phone. I received an email within 4 hours saying that Choice was having trouble finding a repairperson to respond within a timely period. I could option my own local repair person and be reimbursed. I did that. When the repair person diagnosed the problem, we submitted the form for approval online that I was given the link to. It is a form for repair people to use who are designated by Choice (confusing info for others). Anyway, the phone number of the repair person's company was used. Form submitted. Then we realized that a smartphone number was needed in order to receive a text for approval. I called Choice and was online for over 20 minutes. The fix was approved--we just didn't know.

    Gradually, everything worked out...taking more of my time. I received an email letting me know that I'd be receiving my reimbursement within 30 days. Except for the 'blip' of not being able to get notice of the approval--and having the repair person waiting (which is costly for every 15 minutes) it all went well. Our air conditioner is working (it's over 90 degrees here in Michigan) and we're grateful for the opportunity to help find an outstanding repair person who did it in a timely manner. Please change your form where it asks for a phone number--to state "a phone that will accept texts". With all that's going on in the world at this time, Choice did a great job!

    The only thing good that happened was I hired my own tech. This is the second time I’ve had to hire my own tech because you had nobody to respond in my area. I was told that I would get a text back with the approval, thank God I didn’t wait for that, because it never came. They sent an email but that was not what the instructions stated. You people have big-time communication issues. I will say the customer service person I talk to was nice.

    I have lived in my home for 15 months. This is the second work order I have submitted since living in my home. Both work orders were denied as CHW stated are pre-existing conditions. My home was newly remodeled prior to me purchasing it. The remodeler added an extension to the home which includes: 1 bedroom, 1 full bath, and a two car garage. They installed new appliances throughout the home. All work was completed without my prior knowledge.

    This specific issue is regarding my AC unit. It is blowing out cool not cold air so in my eyes it is not functioning properly.When I scheduled this outage with CHW they scheduled for a technician to be sent out. This technician advised me that my unit has some sort of restriction which I have no knowledge what this means. Based on the Technician's findings CHW denied this claim as a pre-existing condition. I would understand if I had spend two or more years in my home and purchased an upgraded AC unit and had it installed for CHW to make this judgement call. However, I have lived in this home for 15 months with hardly any major issues. A home that was remodeled before I knew existed.

    Modifications that were expressed and inspected but during the inspection these issues were not seen as all system functioned normally. For all this I feel and believe CHW should take this circumstance into consideration and help alleviate the cost on burden on the new home owner and pay for the repairs of the unit. At this time I am not feeling like a valued customer of CHW. Like I said I have brand new units in a newly remodeled home. Now I feel like maybe I didn't choose wisely in a home warranty company.

    Very unhappy that you would not pay for the complete installation of garbage disposal. Since the model is so much newer than original one they had to make an alteration to the drain. This should have been part of a normal replacement. Case manager just kept repeating it is not covered. Having purchased thousands of dollars worth of premiums I am very disappointed.

    I called in a claim for our bathtub plumbing problem. They sent someone out to do repairs. They didn’t do anything. Told me they would send in the request to be able to repair the cold water problem. Then the tech left. I never received anything from Choice Home Warranty telling me that they were not going to do the repair. They sent me telling me that had authorized the tech to do the repair. The. Nothing from anyone. So I called the repair company and they told me the that Choice Home Warranty denied me my claim, because I didn’t ok the out pocket money that I had to pay. Well I never received anything from them tell me that I would have to put more money out of my pocket to have the repair done. How nice was that!

    So I called at 9 am waited on the phone 2 hours to talk to someone who had no idea what was talking about. They had to wait another two hours on the phone to talk to a manger who left me hanging on the phone. Of course still nothing has been done. Then I received a email from a so call manager for the claim that I was disputing. Who as of today has never talked to me or acknowledge me after her email telling me she would get to the bottom of this problem. They say that they do not take care of any plumbing that they have to open a structure to get to the plumbing. I’m sorry but what do they call plumbing. They knew it was in the bathtub. Their advertising on the phone that I had to listen to for 4 hours says that you pay the service call and nothing else. Well that’s a big lie. This has been a nightmare for me.

    Updated on 07/21/2020: You send someone out to repair our dishwasher, and we pay $60. However, I receive an email later on stating you’ll just replace it for $260. Are you kidding? It’s only a year and a half old, bought brand new for over $700. After denying that amount, I received an email later that day with a claim specialist's contact info. It was too Late to call her, but I called at 9am the following morning. I also emailed around 2pm that same day. I didn’t receive a call back until about 11:30 the following day. Then she tells us the most we can get is $500. That is ridiculous! Again, it’s only 1 1/2 yrs old, and costs over $700.

    She told me there’s a comparable one 20 minutes away from me for $600 (plus tax and install). So now, I’ll be out $60 for having someone come fix it (that didn’t) and then another $200+ for a comparable one (that’s not even as close to as nice as the one we got). This is beyond frustrating! I cannot believe we pay for a warranty that doesn’t actually cover the appliances we have in our home.

    Original review: I was VERY irritated with Choice, through this process. I made the claim over the phone, which was easy (they actually picked up within 2 mins the first time). I wanted the same company to come that came the day prior, to look at my dishwasher. The lady on the phone told me to call back when I had an appointment, and they would add them to the claim, after they accepted it. I called Mary's Appliances, and they called me back stating they would accept it. After the said they accepted it over the phone, I called Choice back (waited an hour). The lady was glad they had 'accepted it' but said to call back once I had an exact appointment time.

    I called around 4:45 to let them know they'd be coming tomorrow (Wednesday at 1). I chose to receive a call back, since I was on hold so long the first time. I received a call back around 5:50pm. I explained that I was just adding the appointment time, but someone else had 'picked up the claim'. The lady called Smartway Appliances to cancel them, because I let her know Mary's Appliances were coming. She then (AFTER CANCELLING THEM) told me I wasn't allowed to add my own company, even though the two previous ladies seemed to say otherwise. She put me on hold, again, then HUNG UP ON ME! Of course, it was after 6, so I couldn't even speak to someone else.

    I called Choice at 9:00ish Wednesday morning to see if Mary's or Smartway were coming. Around 9:45, I received a callback and the lady told me Smartyway was still on the ticket to come. I called Smartway to confirm, and they told me it had been cancelled the day before. Thank goodness, she said they could still come today, even though it was later than they were supposed to come, based on the email/original time. I WAS NOT HAPPY after HOURS on the phone, being told SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS. I had to call CHOICE AGAIN, to confirm. Your people need to be on the same page about what can and can't be done. And to be hung up on is beyond frustrating. Thank goodness Smartway was able to come and repair our freezer, and it was actually a simple solution.

    Light fixture in laundry room went out. Purchased new bulbs, replaced it and an electrical fire started. Pulled bulbs out immediately and called Choice. First they gave me a number to a business that no longer exists, then they provided me with a company that did come out. I paid the 65.00 service call and was advised by choice this type of item was not covered and referenced some paragraph on some page that I of course missed when selecting this company. My house could have caught on fire and they could care less. I paid the service call fee AND the entire repair. Not cheap. Never again, I am going with another company once this contract expires.     Paying for this home warranty is the equivalent of flushing our hard-earned money down the toilet. I recently had my AC unit clunk out. They sent a shade-tree mechanic to fix the problem. He then put coolant in the unit and stated that was all that the warranty company would cover. Two days later, my home is scorching hot. So I called two real HVAC companies, both said the same thing. The A-coil was bad (which was causing condensation back into the pan which caused rusting) and that the coolant that Mr. Shade-tree had put in (3lbs which is a LOT) was now gone. They advised that the unit be replaced. I then spoke to CHW again and a young man started an appeal - I advised him that due to supreme heat and the fact that I have small children I would be paying for the service to be completed ASAP; he advised that if the appeal were granted, I would be reinstated.

    The case manager assigned to my appeal NEVER contacted me other than the initial email stating that she would be in contact. On 7/16 I'd decided enough was enough. I called CHW and was put on hold for an hour, then the call disconnected. I then got a "supervisor" who I will be contacting the BBB about to file a harassment complaint (that info to follow). I finally got an agent who seemed as if he was half sleep to transfer me to a "supervisor," who was useless. Ultimately, when I advised him to cancel the service I was harassed. He put me on hold multiple times and came back with "offers" to stay. When I refused his offers he started saying, "does it make sense to lose money," "do you like to waste money,"...This is after I was literally screaming at him to please follow my wishes, cancel the policy and stay professional by not concerning himself with my finances and what I chose to do with my money!

    He placed me on hold AGAIN and never came back. I am blocking them with my credit card to prevent any future payments, but this behavior is DISGUSTING and a bully-mentality. I am VERY thankful that I had the funds to repair my AC, but hard-working people working hard every day should NEVER pay a penny to this company to be denied a claim and ultimately harassed!!

    I attempted to contact Choice yesterday morning with a question about coverage. My first contact, unfortunately was with a young man who I could not understand, his English was difficult to follow and his speaking voice was very low. After I explained I could not understand him he offered to have someone call me back; that didn't happen and after 30 minutes I called again. The young lady I spoke with said my coverage did not cover an exhaust fan that has failed in our attic. When I asked why, her response, I believe, was reading from the warranty. When I asked what 'components' included she simply repeated her earlier remark. I thanked her and decided to attempt to reach someone who might give me more information.

    The third attempt reached another young man who I again had to ask to speak louder - I do not have a hearing problem - and we finally reached a comment from him that the warranty covered a bathroom exhaust but not an attic fan. End of the day my warranty was not going to help in this case. I again thanked him and we hung up. Still not sure why a bathroom exhaust fan would be covered and an attic one would not.

    I wish I could give a positive review but I can't. This is my second claim with this company and all I see is taking money but not wanting to replace or repair anything. I have no peace of mind with CHW. I got an email that my claim was denied to a have a compressor replaced on my a/c unit due some abnormal wear or something. What do you do with a cooling system except run it to cool your home. I was given an extensive list about why it failed. What does it matter? It was nothing that I did that caused it.

    So here me and my disabled daughter sit in a hot house while I have to fight with CHW about fixing the a/c. I have to state my case about why my claim should be accepted.That's ridiculous. How about because IT'S NOT WORKING AND I AM PAYING CHW TO COVER IT!!! The previous claim for my washer was the same thing. "Let us give you 299 for your washer instead of just replacing it." I accepted 375 and came out of pocket with my money to get a washer. Who needs CHW if you have to do this every time you're needed. I'm extremely frustrated. A part simply wears out and as if it's not bad enough I have to fight with you guys. Trust me, the BBB will get a report and so will my attorneys. This service is a rip off. When people have asked who my warranty is with I've mentioned you but never again will I refer anyone to you.

    My A/C start nonstop operation few days ago. I called CHOICE and they dispatch technician in 3 days. They told me they would send a technician sometime after from 11 am until 3 pm.
