    We have had Choice for about 18 months and have not had to make a claim until recently when our 20 year old dishwasher decided to breakdown. Choice responded quickly with an appointment for a repair person to come in and determine the problem. The repair person himself also made contact with us.     Your customers service could use some work. They don't have answers to the simplest things.That really says it all. They don't speak clearly either I couldn't hear them good, but that could be your equipment.. Speak my mind and that's all.     I’ve been a loyal member since November and never missed a payment. A week ago my ac went out and place a call for service. An amazing technician came out and spent lots of time explaining the situation to me and he therefore had to send an estimate back to Choice, THE CLAIM WAS DENIED! A simple condensation valve replacement. This company doesn’t deserve to be in business and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone! Please don’t waste your time. They’ve even refused to refund my deposit.

    First, it took 12 blistering hours for technician to be assigned for our claim and the temperature is 109 degrees. Once here the technician quickly identified the problem but could not submit claim through your portal using his phone. He thinks the claim will be eventually approved but for now fixing the unit knowing we might be flipping the bill. For now you were given 1 star until the final claim is settled.     My 2nd floor Air Conditioner stopped functioning. Reported the issue. Received a WO in less than 12 hours however the technician did not show up and lied to CHW that he came and we are not there. In these days of Corona we all are working from home and available 24 x 7. Reported again and it took a while to get another technician assigned.     I have a claim denied and want to discuss the options. History of the claim: My AC stopped working and I initiated the claim with CHW. They scheduled an appointment 2-3 days later and then on the day of appointment, cancelled it stating that the technician did not get the info and scheduled it for 2 days later.

    When the technician arrived, he did the diagnosis and stated that there was a leak in the system and cannot be fixed. The options I got was that I can replace the entire system and since the approval could take upto a week the recommendation was to replace the system immediately and whateven CHW approves will be deducted from the cost. So I got it replaced the next day as I was already out of AC for a week by then. By then I also saw a message in the CHW website that the repair was approved.

    I waited patiently for the reimbursement and after a few weeks, I reached out to CHW again to check the status. That's when I got the run arounds first stating that the claim was denied because there was a water leak (The actual leak I was told about was freon leak). Then they asked me to send the invoice, and couple of weeks after regular followups and providing additional details, the claim was denied stating that it was denied because I did not contact CHW before getting the work done even though the work was done by the technician that CHW sent.

CHW wanted me to contact Tech to have him report diagnosis. Later to learn CHW decided to replace microwave. Claim manager offered buyout. I had to go purchase new product and pay out of pocket expense for installation.

    My refrigerator broke down recently and Choice did not want to pay for the repair but rather offer money to get a new refrigerator. That's all fine, however, the money they offered was only 30% of what a new refrigerator cost. I understand they don't want to pay the full price, but 30% isn't right especially because I purchased five policies. Also, the escalation process was a major fail this time. My rep refuses to contact me after a week and so do the other reps, since I've asked for someone else to handle my case. I don't think I'll renew my policies when they expire unless there is a change within Choice.

    I had an AC issue that came up. Trying to get ahold of someone at Choice is very difficult. Usually you will wait on hold for 30-45 min or they will call you back in a few hours. Once they approved the work order though the repair was pretty simple and the tech was good. Be prepared though that if you call choice at the end of the day and ask for a call back, you will not be called back and you will need to resubmit your number again the following day. Other than trying to get ahold of someone to approve a service, there wasn’t any issues.

    Starting my claims went smoothly. The man that came out didn’t know what he was doing. He spoke very little broken English which made communication difficult. He then involved someone here with me to help hold the refrigerator as he tilted it over. That didn’t go well. We are older. If we could have repaired this ourselves then we would have. He looked at my dryer and said nothing was wrong with it. It obviously overheats and then stops for over 24 hours. He disagreed with me. I told him since he was the person to look at my dryer that if I had a fire in my home because of his inexperience I would hold him and his company at fault. I’ve talked to one case manager and together we did settle the dryer. I’m a widow and will still have to come up with money for a new dryer. Also on the refrigerator that he repaired NOTHING has changed. It still leaks water and dispenses black plastic when getting ice.

    Overall, I'm generally happy with the price of the policy, but what really put me off was the fact that I received a call WITHIN SECONDS of clicking "submit" to receive a quote.     Choice Home Warranty takes your premiums and than goes out of its way to avoid having to fix anything per the contract. Every time I've called CHW to get an appliance fixed, it's been a nightmare. My most recent experience was calling CHW regarding an ice dispenser not working on June 26, 2020. They sent a technician out on July 1, 2020. The technician came to my house with no tools and sent CHW a diagnosis. CHW approved the repair work, but could not get back in touch with the technician. I finally reached the technician who told me that he only came out for the service fee and that CHW reassigns the claim when they can't get in touch with the technician. So basically, CHW sent a crook out to my house and clearly does not vet the technicians they use.

    No one from CHW ever called me regarding not being able to get in touch with this technician or the timing for the repair. I spent hours on the phone with numerous CHW people and all they wanted to do was reassign the technician and for me to start from square one three weeks after the claim was filed. CHW reassigned the technician that was to come out on July 22, 2020. I looked at the reviews on this new technician and noticed that the reviews were horrible. One of the CHW customer service people admitted to me that CHW does no vetting of technicians. When I brought the horrible reviews to CHW's attention they reassigned the claim. A new technician came out on July 24, 2020.

    The technician performed another diagnosis and said that he submitted the request for repair to CHW the day he came out. On July 25, 2020, I received an e-mail from CHW indicating that the original appointment date with this latest technician was cancelled and that CHW was going to reassign the claim. I called CHW and told them that the e-mail made no sense because the technician had already come to my house the day before they sent me the cancellation notice. After calling CHW back numerous times, a CHW manager told me that the technician that came out doesn't have the tools to fix the ice dispenser and that they never got a diagnostic from this technician. CHW lied to me because the technician knew what parts needed to be replaced and submitted the diagnosis the day he came to my house.

    A month later, CHW wants me to start at square one again or their real preference/goal is to get me to find a technician myself and than try and get reimbursement from CHW. This is CHW's typical mode of operation. They frustrate customers to no end, they make you take off work numerous times, they consistently lie to their customers, they, they make you call and sit on hold numerous times and they try and get their customers so angry that the customers will take the last option of taking responsibility themselves for the repair and than trying to get reimbursement from CHW. Anyone that has tried to get reimbursement from CHW knows what an impossible endeavor that is.

    CHW is the most incompetent and corrupt organization that I have ever dealt with. I believe they view the class action consumer fraud lawsuits as just the cost of doing business. CHW's philosophy from the CEO down is to get the premiums and then do as little as possible to address claims. This is evident from the incredible number of customers that have had the same experience as me. CHW is clearly in breach of contract and we should have millions of their customers file a consumer fraud class action lawsuit, similar to what has been done in Arizona and New Jersey. We should also call the newspapers and television stations and do a social media blitz to make everyone aware of CHW's fraudulent practices.

    This is the second time Choice Warranty just let me down. Second time I tried to use them and they did not send a repair person to my house. I have to get a repair person on my own to the job that I paid them to do every month and I have to pay these people out of pocket. It doesn’t make any sense to me to paying a monthly premium and can’t get the help when you needed it. I would not recommend them to no one. They are a fraud and a thief. Maybe they work for someone else but not for me. I think this is my last call to them. They are not good for me. Maybe they had customer give them good rating but if I have to pay out of my pocket $300 then it’s not for me.

    Mervin's A/C & Heating came out and found my unit was low on freon. This is the THIRD SUMMER I have had to get someone out to put in freon. The inside unit (coils) needs to be replaced, NOT recharged every year! Mervin's submitted paperwork indicating the coils need replacing. When the freon is low the coils freeze over and condensation drips everywhere causing more damage. I pay CHW monthly in case I have problems with things. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED CORRECTLY ONCE AND FOR ALL! It will eventually destroy my heating unit costing double the cost. I'm NOT HAPPY RIGHT NOW!

    Updated on 08/15/2020: I posted a review of this company the end of last month. I stated that our air conditioner needed to be taken care of and was service on July 7th. It was determined that the air-conditioner needed Freon which is no longer available. We paid Choice Warranty $994.00 on July 13 to take care of our air conditioner. Since July 13,2020 to date, we have had no response via email, text, or phone from this company. Both my husband and I called daily. My daughter called. Since my first post resulted in THE ONLY response from the company on July 30, 2020. (They said they would be looking into resolving this problem.), I felt that I needed to inform the public about our experience. Consumers need to hear how they treat their policy holders claims.

    We are 70 and 72 years old and are living in Florida. The heat index has been over 100 degrees for many days since our air conditioner stopped functioning. Since it is obvious that they don't care, or plan to do anything, we are requesting that they refund our $994.00 and home warranty money that we paid in June for this policy. We request this money in the form of a check (we have closed the credit card account it was charged to). With the return of our money, we will be able to at least purchase some window units so we can tolerate the rest of our summer.

    Original: Our air conditioner went out a month ago. The service technician told us that it could not be serviced because it required a certain type of freon which is no longer available. After many, many, many calls with many, many people one of them agreed that if we paid them $900 that they would fix the air conditioning system. We sent them the money. We haven't been able to reach anyone regarding the instillation date. We still do not have an air conditioner and we are out $900. We live in Florida. The heat index has been over 100 degrees outside. They obviously are hoping that we go away. I will continue to leave messages on their answering machine. Hopefully, whoever reads this review will keep this in mind when they decide to take out a warranty with them.

    I've been a customer for years now but on the verge of finding a new warranty company. My experience has not been great. My most recent visit the technician was very pleasant and knowledgeable. However, it took 6 days to have service. In the past I've had no show technicians, technician diagnose the incorrect issue, etc. Covid did not cause the delay in getting service because this seems like the norm for Choice. I've experienced this since having this policy. If you want to improve your customer service experience change how the technician responds to request. If a technician pulls the order and can't provide service within a few days it should be left opened for someone who could. Service response times is very important to a customers and they shouldn't have to call customer service and request they reopen the ticket because they need service more immediately.

    Updated on 08/15/2020: I posted my Choice Experience with reimbursement on July 27 and was immediately acknowledged by Choice who elevated the complaint to Director of Consumer Relations. There has been no follow up since. In short Choice lowballed a dishwasher replacement and did not cover the installation.

    Updated on 08/07/2020: Posted complaint on July 27.... Choice responded immediately to acknowledge and kick upstairs to consumer affairs.... there has been no response from consumer affairs.... I did get a phone call back to follow up on an issue reported 10 days prior. Was told that consumer affairs closed the file.... I informed agent that there had been no contact from consumer affairs and they really needed to contact me by phone.... no additional contact has been made.

    Original review: I purchased a 5 year product for approx $2,300. Have had 2 claims in 3 years... water heater replaced but Choice did not cover installation..this claim was a 4 year old dishwasher. Tech came out quickly replaced board and motor. Recommended replacement which Choice agreed to. So far so good. The unit is an Electrolux which I have the paperwork and cost $880 for unit without installation/tax. Today it retails for $1,400. First offer was $535 which I rejected and spoke with caseworker Yvette ** who was excellent however her hands are tied.

    My points of disagreement is your contract states you pay for installation. I purchased from Lowes a Bosch for $678 plus parts, installation and taxes come to about $850. In speaking with Yvette Choice did not choose their option to replace and install and placed the burden on me. In short that's the second time the installation has been rejected by Choice. You offered a wholesale price and placed the turd in my lap to fix. I am not happy. I accepted the offer of $585 and was told I could have a check in 3-4 weeks. I believe you have made poor choices as to the remedy of the issue and should adjust further. Also the old dishwasher is in my house with new board and motor that could be returned for credit. But, I feel that the coverage was misleading... your ad states that the unit will be repaired or replaced no matter the age or brand. THAT STATEMENT IS NOT TRUE.     I've been using CHW for more than 5 years now, mostly good experiences. They hire local vendors/technicians to get the job done. Most vendors are good to work with, but you'll always get a few technicians that are less experienced (or don't want to do the job), and doesn't accurately pin-point the real issue, and your claim gets denied by CHW, and then you're forced to hire a contractor yourself. I guess this is the nature of the business.

    We had issues with our Ge Spacemaker xl 1800 microwave. We called them and they sent out a guy which we really liked and was comfortable with. He looked at it and wrote up the issues and then Choice emailed us and said it was more cost effective to buy a new one than to repair it. So first off they gave us an estimate to replace of $169.99.     We purchased Choice Home Warranty and unfortunately were talked into buying a 2-year plan. In searing heat (90s) our air conditioner stopped producing cold air. It has been 2 weeks and every day I receive an email that they are still "searching for a tech." There are many, many companies in the Denver, CO area. I've called 17 local ones, and all are available for immediate appointments and quick repairs (none work with Choice). Obviously Choice does not work with any local companies. They also refuse to give me the name of any local providers, though they say they exist... At this point I will initiate a chargeback with American Express for the $1,190 I paid for this warranty and $400 for my condo as Choice is not providing techs for claims if no tech is assigned by this weekend. It is absolutely unacceptable to let people sit in their home for 2 weeks with a broken air conditioner in 90+ degree heat.

    I filed a claim on May 16 because our air-conditioning stopped working. Choice sent out the technician. The technician tried to repair the air-conditioning unit on May 29 and determined there was a major leak on the unit that was 20 years old and needed replaced. Choice did not contact me until June 5 by email and stated that the technician cannot do the work because of a Covid related illness. I was very concerned that someone with Covid was in my house. The customer representative at Choice did not think the email stating that was a big deal. I called the technician myself and he stated that he did not tell Choice that anybody in the company had Covid and that he submitted a claim stating that the air-conditioning needed replaced.

    On June 5 I chose the reimbursement option and had my own technician come in and look at the air-conditioning unit because Choice sent me several emails and could not find a technician in our area. The technician came out on June 5 and said the air-conditioning unit needed replaced and we scheduled a date of July 20 to have the air replaced. Choice was informed of this that day. From June 5 until today July 23 choice continues to give me the runaround and keep stating they don’t have a diagnosis for the invoice from the technician. I emailed diagnosis and invoice on June 23 I have email confirmation from Choice. From June 5 to June 23 Choice played games with the reimbursement claim link on the email and it took them that long for someone to contact me for me to submit diagnosis an invoice to Choice.

    I heard nothing from Choice until July 1. I received an email stating the Nicole ** was the case manager assigned to the claim. I called and left a voicemail and emailed Nicole ** every day until she finally returned my call on July 10. She stated that she did not have a diagnosis or an invoice. I explained it was already submitted on June 25 and I received a confirmation email. After getting the runaround from her explaining that the air-conditioning was scheduled to be replaced on July 20. I submitted her diagnosis and invoice again to her on July 10 and received an email confirmation. I also asked to speak to her manager.

    Nicole said the diagnosis was not enough and I gave her the name and number of the technician at her request. Nicole spoke to the technician on July 15 for 40 minutes and the link that she asked him to click on and complete the diagnosis did not work. She took the information from the technician told him she had everything she needed if she didn’t she would call him back. She called me on July 17 and told me that exactly. She also said that they would have a decision on the claim in a few hours. I did not hear from Choice although I sent her emails and voicemails everyday until today July 23.

    July 23, Latasha ** called me and she stated she was a manager. LaTasha let me know that they did not receive a diagnosis!!! She said there was no records of any of the conversations that went on with Nicole **, although I sent her all of the emails. I was very frustrated speaking with Latasha and I forwarded her the email was sent on June 25 and July 10 with the diagnosis and invoice. Latasha was very rude and condescending. She kept saying the diagnosis was not sufficient and there was no record that Nicole spoke to a technician to get this. She kept saying the diagnosis was not sufficient and then there was no record that Nicole spoke to a technician to get the situation clarified. I sent the diagnosis and invoice to her for the third time and requested a different manager call me back.

    Latasha was incredibly rude!! I had to hang up on her three times and three times she called me back and tried to argue, but I refused. Latasha now has the information and is reviewing the claim again and I’m waiting to hear from Choice. I am simply asking that Choice honor the contract that we have and pay for the air-conditioning to be repaired!!

    This claim has been ongoing for 9 months. Two technicians failed to diagnose the problem correctly and therefore did not fix it. The problem is a broken spark module that was diagnosed by the third technician but he did not order the part from a reputable distributor and a choice customer service rep told me he never turned in the diagnosis. The tech told me he would order the correct part from the Dacor parts factory and call me back. It has been a week and he never has called back and I cannot reach him.     The warranty contract I received in the mail stated that I would be given the information if the technicians they are to do the work on the service claim, so that I could schedule a mutually acceptable time. I filled the claim form out online and was told that I would receive the information about the time and date of the service appointment. I have no say in the technician company, nor do I have a say in the date and time of the scheduled appointment.

    I've worked with local repair companies before, and Bowman's is a large scale operation, but do ** work. I called them for ac troubles in 2013 and they came and disconnected a bunch of stuff and then left. The following spring, I had to make another call since they screwed me by not connecting everything up again. They were double paid for service call fees, when they should have only gotten one. Being that I don't have a say in technician companies, I could get rammed by these guys again. I would love to have a say in technician companies. I would choose Paige Mechanical Group. See attached photos. Coverage is questionable and so the price paid and value is questionable as well. We will see how this claim turns out.
