    I don't think Choice Warranty is bad however; my experience with the technician fixing my air condition was not all that great because I had to continue to wait because of the weather which is out of anyone's control but when the technician came it was much later on in the day and he forgot to include the Freon and my home became extremely hot again and I had to call the technician back out again.

    Our A/C stopped working late in the afternoon in Arizona in July, it was 110 outside. Set claim up via email, was advised that an authorized vendor would pick up claim within 6 hours. Attempted to contact you via chat feature to determine if that meant next day or same day several times and received same BOT answer, which didn’t answer my question. Very frustrating! Had I known we could have used reimbursement option I would have called tech out immediately, however that option wasn’t offered until next morning (it was an uncomfortable night). But in all fairness, vendor called first thing next morning and system was fixed by 10 am! Overall very satisfied, but it would have been nice to have live person on the other end to chat with at some point.

    The techs were great but CHW is a scam. My slab leak claim was denied. Why send a technician out here if that’s not covered. Why even have slab leak issue as an option in the first place knowing full well it’s not covered. That was a waste of $45. CHW needs to be more transparent with what it will pay for and not pay for. I feel completely deceived.

    I wanted to sign up, of course but I wasn't financially prepared because I get paid on certain days. Being a single parent I have to budget my money carefully. You guys call about 20 times a day. I finally gave in and explained to the representative that I get paid Saturday, July 25, 2020. The rep stated they will post date my feet for that date. Well, they debited my account Wednesday July 22, 2020, the day after I gave my information. Now I have an overdraft fee including the fee that was taken out of my account!! I'm very upset!!

    No problems with the technician. Choice STILL had not repaired or replaced my dishwasher. I filled out the form and submitted it. I have not heard a thing back and it has been weeks. Choice said the unit wasn't worth repairing, the part is 390$...It's only 2 years old. Have no idea why it would go bad with such little use. (I've not called you because my health is failing, been battling that). I went to LOWE'S and got a printout of the EXACT SAME DISHWASHER I BOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO. CHOICE ONLY OFFERED $190.00 TO REPLACE MY dishwasher. Here's the exact same unit for $569.99 (at Lowe's) on sale, before tax...of about $50.00, I can't get the file to attach here.

    So far Choice has not any attempt to rectify this. I filled out their online form about my experience. I acted in good faith getting this policy...don't feel Choice has acted in good faith by extending the same courtesy. Choice may contact to fulfill our contract **. Choice did fix my dryer, well sort of. When you open the door, the drum keeps tumbling. Dismayed It took took over a week to fix.

    Updated on 7/28/2020: I am still trying to get our money back due to the fact they never sent service out to our house to fix our air condition unit. Had to plea with a company who service the air condition at my husband job because since we cancelled our warranty on our unit to use Choice Home warranty we had no one to rely on except Home Choice Warranty. All others in the area were not taking on new customers. We waited on Home Choice Warranty from July 12th until July 23rd. With the heatwave while waiting on them we had to purchase 2 window units and with having a big house they still didn't do as they should. We paid someone else to come out and service the until on the 22nd and they came out on the 23rd.

    After getting in touch with the BBB and posting a complaint they told us again they were sending someone out after we had got it fixed. They refuse to give us back our money and want to give us less than what we had to go through financially, physically and mentally. My Dr. appointments increased due to the fact that I have COPD, LUPUS, Heart problems and was in the hospital in May and June. My husband works 3 jobs trying to keep me alive and healthy. I am on disability. We told them all we want is what is fair and that is all the money we paid to them for all these years and this was our first time calling them and they failed. They broke the contract not us. They told me they couldn't do that. By the time we pay medical bills and with what we spent in units and healthcare well exceeds what we have paid. $44 a month since 2017. Now tell me, am I asking too much.

    Original review: I have been having this contract since 2017. Called on July 12 for service with my air condition and still have not had any service. They keep telling me someone is coming and no one ever comes and they will not help me with my problem. They want me to do the leg work for them and they still are lying about someone coming. I don't want to but I have to other choice but to sue for all the years I paid. On top of that we had to go buy 2 window units because they will not come and most of the local companies are not taking on new clients. I had a company but let them go to deal with this company who will not service. I wish I had kept what I had in 2017. I am old and sickly and the heat has made matters worse.

    My ac unit stopped working. I called Choice. The technician came out to my house. Said I have an old system and recommended that I replace it but didn’t think choice would pay so he said I needed a new thermostat cuz mine was old, a converter and compressor to get it working again but also said he couldn’t guarantee me with my system being old that after I replace that something else won’t go wrong but he was gonna send it in and see what they say. Now you're saying you’ll cover everything except the compressor. The compressor is what cools the house down. I am a widower living on a disability income. I got this home warranty for the fact that I can protect myself and help myself a lot when it comes to expenses around the home. So when I was told about it I jumped on it.

    I have health issues and I get heat strokes. I cannot continue to go the rest of the season with no air and then from what I’m told it controls my heat as well so I won’t have no heat in the winter either?     My Air Conditioner went out and I have conditions such copd and Asthma which would not allowed me to stay in a hot home. I was sent an email the next day saying I could find my own Technician and file for a reimbursement claim, but it wouldn't allow me to do so.     This is the second time I've used my "warranty" plan and the second time I've had to pay someone else to come fix the issue. The technician from Mr. Smith Plumbing was very courteous, when the dispatcher finally sent him out. I did have to call Mr. Smith Plumbing the day of my scheduled service. The owner was very rude and had no idea of my appointment. I would NEVER use this company. I ended up paying another company to come out and fix the issue. Like I said, I've only used my warranty twice and each time I've had to call another company to fix the issue that was supposedly covered. More than likely I will not be renewing my plan with Choice.

    I called your company to report broken A/C unit. A claim was processed and technician reported 21 July. He performed troubleshooting and found a leak in the compressor coolant line. He reported that cause was wear and tear, and after an hour waited for response from CHW. Your company disapproved repairs and stated for reason that CHW felt the cause was not due to "wear and TEAR", The technician refused to repair. I am a disabled American veteran with bad heart and have been told the HEAT is bad, and it is now 96 F in my house. I have borrowed a room A/C for my bedroom and cannot handle this heat. I called a supervisor to discuss, she could not help and said it would be referred to case manager. I called on 22 July and have not heard back.

    If CHW is denying coverage because you claim it is not Normal Wear and tear? Then what caused the line to leak!     A couple of things;

    1. Highly satisfied with Douglas as he helped me with my renewal. He did an excellent job!

    2. I had a situation with claims that I unwittingly failed to get authorization for. No exception was granted for a reimbursement. I understand that the "policy" is that authorization needs to come from you, but someone else called Roto Rooter on my behalf and by the time I found out, they had already come out and done the work. The amount was $196.50 and I felt that with the small amount of reimbursement ($196.50 - $65 normal service charge = $ $131.50) that there would be an exception made. I was seriously disappointed when I spoke to two different representatives and they gave me a cursory response that nothing could be done. I just signed up for a 3 year extension and have been a good client so far, so I would think that as a matter of good client service this wouldn't be a big deal. I want to stay with you all, but that hurt your chances. Thank you.

    I am extremely dissatisfied with Choice Home warranty. My first claim was denied because they said my air conditioning unit did not break from regular wear and tear. The unit was from 1981. My next claims were my washer and dryer. Choice told me I would only have to pay one service fee for the same technician to come on the same day. They charged me the fee twice. The dryer couldn't be repaired, so they offered me $299 to replace it. I can not find a gas dryer for $299. I tried to dispute this and could not get in touch with my case manager for a week. I accepted the $299 because I can't wash clothes, only to find out it will take 30 days for me to receive a check. I have had Home Shield in the past and loved them. I would never use this home warranty company again.

    I have not had the best experience with Choice Home Warranty. I was with another company for many years and I heard about this one through a recommendation so I thought I would give them a try. Well, I wish I hadn't because nothing is covered. There are more exclusions than coverage and when I did finally file a claim where something was covered, of course they are trying to find a loophole to say it is not covered.

    The Case Manager I am working with advised me they do not assume damage and rely on their technicians that come out to report the situation. When that happened, they are basing their decision on pictures and telling me what the technician reported and what I am telling them happened, could not be. They are going against what the technician sent in and what I am telling them happened. When I questioned the Case Manager, her words to me where "Common Sense will tell you that the damage is not due to how both the technician and I am describing it". Now, they are in the business of assuming as she stated they were not from our first conversation.

    Although the claim was partially denied, they want to offer $200 to offset the cost as a consolation prize. That is just a ploy to try and not cover the full job. They did however approve one piece of the claim but denied the rest which makes no sense to me. I have been told by several of the technicians who they sent out on one of my three claims that I haven't been with them long enough for them to cover big jobs, you have to be with them more than a few years for them to get their money worth. Out of the three claims, I got one partially covered when it should be fully covered. I would not recommend this company based on my personal experience with them.

    First, the response time was very good. I put in my claim in the morning and a technician was at my house in the afternoon. The technician was courteous and efficient. Second, the CHW people are all knowledgeable, courteous, trustworthy, and professional. I highly recommend this company. Now, the downside. The replacement policy does not replace. They send a check so that you can choose the replacement yourself. This is fine. That’s not my complaint. My complaint is the amount paid. They only give about 2/3rds of what it takes to replace. My claim was a front load washer on pedestal. The replacement they suggested is a different brand (a good one) which doesn’t bolt to my original pedestal. So that has to be replaced also. That wasn’t even considered in the amount offered. I was told that their policy only allows a portion of the replacement amount. So read the fine print carefully. THEY DO NOT REPLACE!

    The A/C tech from Terrell Moseley was great! However, Choice Warranty as a whole was AWFUL. I canceled my policy and will go with another company.     Purchased Choice Home Warranty in 2019 when we bought our home in NC. We bought the works with the extended roof and septic coverage to be sure everything would be covered. Our roof leaked and the repair wasn't covered. Our sewer ejector pump, it works with the septic system, formed a clog. In the septic extended coverage description it states the "sewer ejector pumps" are covered. However because of how the builder placed the pump in our home Choice wouldn't cover it. We've emailed, called left messages and no one has followed up. It has been several months now with no resolution. We have had other warranty companies in the past, with previous homes, and have had no issues getting things repaired - that's why we bought a warranty. I don't recommend this company.

    The first service provider did not show up for our appointment and never responded to repeated calls. The second service provider was extremely professional. The microwave is built in to the cabinet and is unfortunately beyond repair. The disappointing outcome is that we were not provided near enough money to actually replace the microwave and we have to spend our time to find an adequate replacement that fits the space. We were told we are being given the wholesale cost, not the retail price. Unfortunately, we cannot buy wholesale so there is a significant shortfall in addition to the cost of our time.

    Updated on 11/06/2020: Choice Home Warranty refused to pay repair expenses on a brand new AC Heating Unit that they selected to be installed in my home July 23, 2020. We recently discovered that the heat was not working due to a defective gas valve and control board. Choice denied the claim. The following rationale was provided by Choice Home Warranty.

    "Your claim was submitted on 11/04/20 and was assigned to ALLSTAR HEATING & COOLING INC. on 11/05/20. After the appointment date on 11/05/20 the technician submitted details pertaining to your system failure. It has been determined that there were no failures with the air conditioning unit at the time of service. The gas valve in the furnace is defective. Failure of the gas valve has also damaged the control board. Valves for heating systems are not covered under this user agreement."

    I spoke with a manager at Choice Home Warranty on 11/6/20 at 2:00 pm explaining that the AC Heating Unit was purchased in July - through Choice Home Warranty. Choice Home Warranty continued to deny responsibility for repairs. During this conversation on 11/6/20 the manager (Gina) stated that the claim was denied because an incorrect gas valve was installed on the unit! Again, we did not select the unit or the contractor! This was done exclusively by Choice Home Warranty and we continue to suffer the consequences. Choice Home Warranty refused to pay for associated repair cost. My overall experience with this company has been a negative 5.

    Original Review: CONSUMER BEWARE! I submitted a claim on June 25, 2020 for AC repair. Choice scheduled a contractor to inspect AC unit on June 29, 2020. On June 30, 2020 we received email notification that our claim was approved for repairs/replacement, and we acknowledged expenses we would have to pay ($700.00). On July 2, 2020 we received another email from Choice Home Warranty that listed additional expenses which were significantly more than what were provided in the June 30, 2020 email ($1787). We immediately inquired about the additional expenses and was assigned a case manager, who was impossible to reach!

    After a week of unresponsive emails and voice messages to the case manager, she finally called with an explanation of additional charges. The payment was made during that phone call. We were told that the equipment should be delivered no more than 3 days. Today we are still without AC in our home, and it is nearly a month since we submitted the claim. I have called and emailed Choice Home Warranty daily, and no one has provided an explanation for delays. One of the representatives that I spoke to on July 13, 2020 indicated that the equipment was delivered to the assigned contractor on July 10, 2020. I called the contractor, and their office indicated that they did not have the inventory and would have to research the matter.

    The latest explanation given today (July 21, 2020) was, "We don't know, and will need to contact the distributor." I asked to speak with someone who could tell me when I could expect the AC unit to be delivered and installed. No response provided. I also inquired about a refund and/or to speak to the distributor and was told those were not options! I would not recommend Choice Home Warranty to anyone. Aforementioned, we have been without AC for approximately 1 month, and without reasonable answers from Choice Home Warranty. I am so frustrated with this company, and have exhausted every means to have the matter resolved. No one in this company seems to care that I paid annual fees for the last 4 years, plus additional fees for the purchase of the replacement AC unit and installation! I have been given a huge runaround, and there seems to be no end in sight! I will no longer do business with Choice Home Warranty.

    The company could not find a service person to make the repairs & offered to have me find my own which I did. In order to get reimbursed the tech had to fill out information online & submit then wait for approval. The tech filled out the information several times but the submission would not go to the company. An error kept popping up. After several tries the tech and me making a phone call to customer service to no avail the tech had to leave & I paid him. I made another call to customer service and they called back several minutes later & had no idea what the problem was. He said he would find someone to help but I got disconnected & tried recalling only to be told AGAIN to wait for a call back. This system of reimbursement does NOT work and CHW can’t expect technicians to wait until the form goes through (which it didn't) then get approval for repairs. Ridiculous!

    I’ve used CHW two time before with the company finding a tech for me & all went smoothly. I understand the Covid issue but CHW needs to understand the technical issues & wait times does not provide the customer with an outcome for reimbursement if the submission online & customer service is no help! I hope CHW understands if a customer is lucky enough to get service in a timely manner these days someone from customer service needs to be there for approval without submission online. I have previously given a 5 star rating but am not happy at all with CHW. The technician had it diagnosed & fixed within minutes. Had this been an expensive repair he would have had to leave without fixing it!

    This was the 1st time I needed Choice. Worst experience I have had. The plumber never showed up or called. Your customer service rep did nothing until I finally reached a manager who also did nothing. All they do is read your policy and refuse to help until I said I will call the president. I stayed home all day waiting for this plumber who never showed. Your people never cared about that. Finally after being on the phone with your manager for about 1 hour he agreed if they could not get find another plumber in 24 hours they would agree to allow us to find our own technician.

    Luckily a plumber who just joined on with Choice called and showed up on time and did the repair. This technician was excellent and very professional. You're not doing your company any favors by using the 1st plumber. He has been written up by several members on a local website regarding not showing up or calling.     Choice Home Warranty responded quickly to arrange an appointment for a technician to come to our home. Green Earth Home Comfort contacted us as well as CHW to remind us of set appointment. 11-3 on Friday. Day of we were home all day. Technician had not come. At 3:30 I called GEHC to ask if a technician was still coming. I was told the technician was still on another job and it was running over and that it would be later when he could come to my house. GEHC said they would call the technician and see what his schedule was looking like and they would call me back. I never received a call back.     Will not honor AC claim...using covid 19 as excuse. Have been trying to get them here for over a month to look at a.c. This is the email response I get everyday. "We are diligently working on assigning your claim to the best available technician in your area. At this time, technicians have not responded with a reasonable timeframe to schedule your appointment. We are continuing to work on finding you a reasonable appointment. In order to avoid further delay, we offer a reimbursement option. Upon selecting the reimbursement option CHW will stop working on finding you an appointment and you will be required to find your own technician to service your claim." They hire people that are no shows, and refuse to get legit repair companies to complete the job. There are complaints about them not reimbursing after job is done. But yet they do not miss withdrawing the monthly payment. Go elsewhere. Over a month, ac not even looked at yet.

    Updated on 09/29/2020: As of 6/26/20 I called to make a claim for my air conditioner that that was not working during the 100 degree days. You sent me a text for an appointment on a Sunday between 11.00 and 3.00 with Bill Campbell heating and cooling. At 3pm he had not shown so I called him and he knew of no appointment, but he came out anyway and gave some kind of some kind of fix. We paid not only his $75.00 because he got it started but the equipment is 20 years old.

    He apparently did not complete his paperwork and sent it to you and after months of call Choice and being hung on more that 7 occasions. I had to threaten to cancel my stupid giving Choice my money. I finally call to just cancel with you. Got two gentlemen within 3 weeks of each other. 1 of them was Garrett. He gave a phone number and extension but it was disconneted plus he gave me an appointment with the same company that was here in June. I finally spoke with a lovely woman named Alisa who is working on making me a new another appointment.

    This now 29 of September. Think is somewhat long for one claim. I worked for a major caninet manufacturer for 30 years in customer service and sales and I would have been fired if any complaint into my company with this many complaints by 1 of my customers. It would not have been accepted for any reason. You really look at the way you do business. I would never suggest to anyone I know to sign up with you. You really need to review you procedures because they stink. Being hung up on so many times should be unacceptable to you. I am sure this will go nowhere because you do not seem to care about your customers and you should be ashamed of company performance. It starts at the top!!

    Original Review: I had to call the person to get update and he indicated to me that he was given my contact info. He hot rodded my air conditioner so that I could use it during the heat and humidity. I called the same day of his arrival to indicate my dismay as well as the amount of time it took to get someone to my house regardless of Covid-19. My feeling at this moment that you are concomitant as a company that I have been paying for several years with no claims until now. I have yet to get ANY FEEDBACK from your company about my claim, nor do I think you even care.     The tech could not find a problem but the next day we had the same issue and we took care of (hopefully) the issue ourselves with a suggestion the tech made if the issue happened again. Our issue was with Choice. When we called we had to argue with two people before we could get service. The first one simply said, "We don't cover that" and wanted to hang up. She did not ask questions to see if we could solve the problem....Just wham bang and hang up. My husband talked to a different lady and pretty much got the same treatment.

    We spent close to $3000 for our contract which at the time we thought Choice was a good company to work with. So far we called two times and have to fight to get techs out both times. We had a difficult time understanding the persons we spoke with. They all wanted to argue about the requested work. So when our contract is up, will we renew?     BEWARE BEFORE YOU BELIEVE THE RANKINGS. Is there a lower score than one star I can give? They promise everything before you sign up and deliver none. In 1 year I had 2 claims. A minor Kitchen faucet issue. After I paid them $65 they declined the claim. I fixed it myself for less than $50. The second was my pool pump motor. They assigned Pinnacle Pool That I paid $65 and they misdiagnosed the issue saying that is the electronic panel that is causing the problem and I have to pay $1,400 for the entire pump. I was again told not covered. I had to file an appeal that resolved nothing.

    I paid another fee for bringing an honorable pool service that using the same “bad” electronic panel with a good motor found out the the motor now work and indeed the motor cover in the warranty was the problem. After hours and many calls to Choice, unanswered or returned phone calls, after filing complaints with the NJ Consumer Affairs and BBB, 6 weeks later they gave me $500 for a motor that was $1,400. Don’t believe when you are told if doesn’t work they will replace. I cancelled my policy. I would have been ok if they offered the $500 upfront, but paying 2 fees to diagnose the issue and waste my time for 6 weeks, not acceptable. This company is ran by a bunch of crooks, unethical and liars.

    The customer service member from Choice was a total douche. Called to see the status of our order. Our AC broke down and it was over 100 degrees. Explained to him that we have a newborn and we could not lay with no AC. Said that we have time since it’s under 24 hours. Did not even care. The lack of of his empathy is what is wrong with this world. Please fire that guy so he will understand the feeling. I will be polite on my post.

    If I could give this home warranty company a zero I would, the only good thing about this company is the technicians I’ve dealt with, everyone else has been terrible. My refrigerator went out almost a month ago and this company still hasn’t resolved the issue. We lost all our food and our baby formula. The refrigerator was 2400.00 and they offered us 500.00. Of course we declined that because you can’t even find a new refrigerator for that amount and when we were assigned a case worker it got worse.

    You can not get this woman to respond to an email, voicemail, or return a phone call. And the 2 times in the past almost month I have talked to her she is aggressive and rude and has a take it or leave it type of attitude and when I asked to speak to a supervisor it’s been two weeks and I still haven’t heard from her or a supervisor and she said it would take 24-48 hours. When you get the warranty they tell you they got you covered but they don’t care anything about you or your family. They only care about saving themselves money. One month and still no resolution. At this point I’m seriously considering talking to a lawyer.

    Response from Choice was relatively fast. Repair Company was used before. Appointment was set for Sat., July 18 11 am and 3 pm. Tech showed up early Friday afternoon. Two hours after he left, got update from Choice that repair would now be on Monday July 20th. HELLO?? Band aid was put on 18 1/2 old unit and is working.

    CHW processing this claim very poorly. The technician submitted all information and showed me the confirmation that the claim is in review but CHW is asking me to submit more detailed information. CHE sent this technician and me to contact technician and submit detailed information. I am paying for the insurance and also paid my service fee of $45 then it should be CHW contacting the technician and getting all details they need.

    The tech was very professional and courteous. He showed up on time - in the window of our scheduled time. No problems there. However I made the call for service the day the fridge stopped working, and my appointment was scheduled for two days later. As a result, I had to throw out all my frozen meats, fish, chicken and other frozen foods, as well as my fresh perishable fruits and veggies, butter, mayo, and other open foods in my refrigerator- it was hundreds of dollars of food loss.

    Then the technician told me the parts are no longer available for our fridge and the unit will need to be replaced so I still have no working fridge in the house. Now we are eating out and having food delivered as well as buying ice every few hours for beverage as it is July in Florida and the ice lasts maybe an hour. We understand it’s not the technician’s fault. He did what he could, but now the week is passing by and we are still without a solution.
