    The technician has been very courteous and eager to help me any way he can. It has been frustrating and disappointing dealing with Choice service department. It doesn’t make sense why it is so difficult to get this issue resolved. I should not have to go get my attorney to look into this in order to get service to my HVAC Unit. I am tired of being jerked around by Choice. My family has a suffering for no apparent reason. This is infuriating!

    We have 19 year old HVAC units that were recommended be replaced by two different companies. The one representative told us Choice Home Warranty will never replace until the unit completely died and refused to run. We have had are are not really working on one unit for about a week and a half before someone was able to come out. Another unit for four days before they sent someone out. I wouldn't wish Choice Home Warranty on my worst enemy.

    My refrigerator stopped cooling. The freezer unit, ice maker, lights still worked. I placed a call on a Saturday. A technician was dispatched the following Saturday. He discovered the heating element in the freezer had burnt out which caused ice to build up around the vent that releases cold air to the refrigerator unit. He was able to melt off the ice around the vent which then allowed the refrigerator portion to cool. He is supposed to come back once he has the part to replace the burn-out heating element. Haven't heard yet when that will be.

    Absolutely pathetic. Our AC stopped working in July 2020. They assigned a technician to replace our AC's furnace coil. However, the technician insists that he hasn't received any "pick up number" from choice home warranty. Whenever we contact one of their representatives, they always end up giving us generic replies that they have escalated this matter to the highest authorities, and that this matter will be solved soon. It's been over 50 days and the problem remains as it is!! We are in Texas, and in the middle of summer where temp reaches up to 100. Absolutely pathetic service.

    I have signed up Choice Home Warranty on 8/8/2020 (paid $1750 at a time for 5 years), and cancelled the policy on 8/9/2020, as I heard service is not good from friends. Agent told me I will get money back in 5 to 7 days, I tried calling them many times, when I ask about my money they are simply transferring call and keeping me wait in call for hours and call does not connect, this is one of the worst service I have seen in my life, no proper response.

    When buying your first home, you want to be covered as you learn about owning your first home. You want help, support, guidance, and general ease of use. You won’t get that here. They send out sketchy technicians who bring random day laborers into your home. And then tell you you’ll be fine when you tell them “I'M NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS PERSON IN MY HOME. AROUND MY KID AND FAMILY.” And refuse to give you a new technician. Then they give you a new technician who is not licensed to work in your state and when you call again about that, the technician is told “it’s okay, you can still do the work.”

    When I told them I could not use my toilet or kitchen sink on the main floor, I was told to use the other floors. When I use the other utilities, they back up into the bottom floor. I haven’t been able to give my child a proper bath in two weeks because sewage backs up into our tubs and sinks. But. BUT!!! Choice said they’re not an emergency service so they can’t help. But if I call an emergency service, they won’t cover if the service doesn’t call CHW first.

    Choice has been hell. I can’t speak with a supervisor because “my claim has been escalated” and the case managers are closed on the weekends and I still haven’t gotten any correspondence from a case manager. I just want my money back. I’m paying out of pocket for a real plumber anyways, just pay me back my initial yearly payment.

So, here goes another claim along with an additional service fee. This whole scenario I have unfortunately experienced before with this plan. Just a racket for collecting additional monies.     This is my fourth claim to date. My biggest problem with CHW came about with my first claim. Prior to becoming a member of CHW I was a five year member of American Home Shield. I canceled my membership with AHS and went with CHW. I reported two claims in July, one was honored and one was denied. CHW sent a repair company to fix my Air Conditioner. I had nothing to do with the company you sent or their recommendations to fix the problem. You should’ve sent another company to get a second opinion. My Air Condition is still cooling but it over heats and trips the circuit breaker. I’ve turned my complaint over to Massi & Massi Attorneys at Law.

    I phoned Choice concerning my garage door problem. I have a multiple year warranty with Choice. The representative listened as I explained my problem, and he indicated my problem would not be covered. I indicated that I was disappointed regarding the non-coverage. He asked me to wait (hold) and I did. I assumed that he was discussing with his supervisor, and within minutes he came back and gave me a claim number. I printed the claim and waited for the repair person to phone to establish an appointment time. The repair company phoned with a date and a range of time, he would arrive.

    At about the prescribed time, the repairman came and reviewed the situation. Inspecting and taking pictures, he indicated it could be fixed, but that Choice Home Warranty would probably decline my claim. I was charged $60 for the consultation. I am unhappy with having to pay $60 for no reason. The Choice representative with his first statement stated the claim was not be within the realm of the warranty. Why did he then set up a claim? I would have not been happy, but at least I would not have been out $60. I am not happy with Choice and the way this was handled. My trust has been greatly diminished in the claims' statements that are advertised and I now know are not necessarily true.

    I have not had my warranty for very long but it’s ok. If they feel it was pre existing it won’t be covered. We have had 3 services and 1 was denied and told our condenser Coil were damaged. We contacted the dispute person assigned to us and never heard back after several attempts. Paid someone else and he fixed our A/C and it was not the coils. It was the gauges. But a gentleman came and fixed our garbage disposal. He communicated great and was timely. Then our toilet started leaking in the floor and the first technician car broke down and when we rescheduled we never heard back. Made a new appointment and the next technician came but toilet leaked after he left. Called. He came back out and it’s still leaking. No Thunderstorm, no bad weather, no other electrical forces from above the ac UNIT. It just broke, because old and outside is hot. Choice Home Warranty: (08/10/20 05:15 PM) ES Marjorie **: "Thank you for your email. We have escalated this issue to a case manager and they will be contacting you with a resolution shortly. For your reference the case manager information is Sean ** (800) 814-2534 x3788. Thank you for being a valued customer of Choice Home Warranty."

    (08/13/2020): Question: Why did you deny my case? I really want to know! Please explain. In previous communication I learned because of section F, option 8 described why. What exactly made you make this decision? Rust? Fire? Surge? Landslide? Force majeure situations? None of this applied to my case. "8. We are not liable for repair of conditions caused by chemical or sedimentary build up, rust or corrosion, mildew, mold, misuse or abuse, failure to clean or maintain as specified by the equipment manufacturer, missing parts, structural changes, fire, freezing, electrical failure or surge, water damage, lightning, mud, earthquake, soil movement, soil settlement, settling of home, storms, accidents, pest damage, acts of God, or failure due to excessive or inadequate water pressure."

    Where did you get the surge word from? From me at the initial call about to open a claim? No! From initial inspection by your trusted subcontractor Island Breeze AC? No, I have a copy of the report. So you made a conclusion on your own brain to make my claim denial! Am I right? I did appeal the case for reconsideration, because I noticed more problematic statements with the opening initial case. Lady wrote down electrical problems, circuit breaker, etc. No, she didn't hear those words from me. When I called, I said my AC was not working and I stopped it because I saw smoke going from the grill. How she determined that I am not covered with Choice home insurance? We don't even know by then what is causing the issue and what is broke and what is not.

    Sean ** was introduced to me to take over my case and willing to chat about the case. Unfortunately I can't contact Sean because he is not answering the phone that was provided to me and 4 times I have to leave a message. After that I have to be on hold for more than 2 hours to speak with Diego, so Diego can leave a message to Sean ** to call me. Finally the next day Sean called me to explain that the decision was made in the first place and to stay the same.

    I reminded Sean ** that I am a loyal customer of Choice Home Warranty and pay my part in full every month for a very long period of time. Indeed I used your company to fix a couple things in the past. And everything was fine then. I reminded Sean ** that I am with broken AC already 6 days from last Thursday and all that I heard from you is "your case denied". I reminded Sean ** that Choice Home Warranty is for my peace of mind in case of an unfortunate event, and they should fix it or replace it. That was before and it worked. I remind Sean ** that so far you told me about protecting your butt and telling me that you are not covering my case.

    I remind to Sean ** that company (Case manager) don't even care in what situation your client right now (6 days without AC with wife, son, and cat - Florida on August!!!), Client doesn't have an idea when problem will be fixed, nor who, nor what is broken!!! No communication to the customer about the update of the case. He could apologize, play good guy, tighten hands by company policies, instructions, etc. No, he just laughed. He was speechless.

    I am wondering what is happening to your company and who was training your case manager Sean **? If he is the face of your company, I will say the opposite. Customer service representatives are very nice and trained to take care of the customer with care and possible power they have. But the case manager needs more training and guidance. Just my opinion.

    I called Island Breeze AC and asked how fast we can fix the issue. Same day on Thursday 12/13/2020 they came and fixed my AC. They submitted a bill to Choice Home Warranty and instantly was rejected by the company. I am wondering how fast management reacts on bills and how impossible it is to get attention from the case manager about the issue? I am awaiting a response for my quick note from your Good Manager with an explanation why we are still in this case? I paid my part of $54.18 for the total plan, I paid $60 for a co-pay to the subcontractor to fix the issue. I did pay today $525 to repair my AC (your part). Please explain why I should still be your member and not walk away to another company? Please help.

    The Response to the service call was great. We had a Tech. show up the next day and he found our 27 year old A/C unit was not repairable. Choice authorized the replacement. It was my understanding they would pay for the replacement, but that is not the case. They paid the contractor $1500 and we paid $1914. I ask four time what we were paying for and they could not tell me or wouldn’t. The fact they did not even pay half of the cost is unbelievable. The fact that their advertising leads you to believe they will take care of you is a lie and false advertisement.

    There were different issues that arose during the initial claim. I will try to be as brief as possible in my explanation. 1. The 1st techs were less than competent and used an incorrect part (which was later used to deny the motor damage caused by this part). 2. These techs condemned the unit on their 3rd visit. 3. Another tech was sent over and he got us up and running. 4. Upon recall (because of freezing lines and inadequate cooling), the new tech discovered the incorrect part and stated we would need a new motor. 5. The motor claim was denied because of the incorrect part stated earlier. 6. I sent in a request to review and was assigned a case manager-Rafael **. 7. He initially contacted me via email on Monday 8/10 and asked me to respond.

    8. After this, there was no reply to my repeated emails and phone calls. I was promised by CSRs every day that someone would contact me. I was promised a new case Manager. No one called. When I asked to speak with anyone else, I was told my case was escalated to the appropriate level already (yet ** NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS or EMAILS). 9. On Thurs, I called the sales department (my warranty is up for renewal) and explained my situation. I could not renew with such poor service. I received prompt assistance. 10. It took a couple more days of continual emails and phone calls, but the technician Cortinas & Sons came out today and fixed the motor.

    This process began on July 20. The temp here has been 100+ degrees and Choice Home Warranty gave the worst possible service. I had to spend multiple nights in a local motel because of the constant delays. Your 24 hr return contact guidelines are not actual. I still have not had any contact from R **. There are a few positive contacts, but they are far outweighed by the lack of concern and response.

    Don't be so quick to find reasons why repairs are not covered. Everything should be repaired for the price of the plan, plus paying an $85 deductible.     CHW is not a good warranty company. Apparently, most of them are not what you would expect. But out of 4 claims we've submitted over a year, only 1 of them have they actually done what they were supposed to do. 2 of them they completely denied, and the other one they offered us basically a 10% payout on the replacement cost of what we had.     The first claim on 5-16-18 was made over a year after our contract became active so it is not possible to conclude or prove that our air conditioner condenser leak was a pre-existing condition. We signed up for a 3 year contract spanning from 04/25/2017 thru 10/25/2020 for $1,125.00. Both of our air conditioner service calls (5-16-18 and 8-10-20) were declined for any reimbursement. The refrigerant leak was fixed in the most recent maintenance visit with an EZ Seal application.

    We have now paid over $900.00 dollars out of pocket plus $1,125.00 for the original 3 year contract. So we have paid almost the same out of pocket expense as the contract itself with no coverage on either of the air conditioning claims. The only bright spot for this latest claim is that the technician from B&A HVAC was very knowledgeable, courteous and professional—5 stars for him.

    We are the buyers of a house where the dishwasher broke down after the house inspection showed that it was working. The sellers called in a claim when they found the dishwasher not working 3 days before the closing of the house. They offered us money towards the repair or to go with the warranty. Since the money would not cover the cost of a new unit if not fixable we went with the warranty. They put a claim into Choice Home Warranty then transferred the warranty to us since they would not have access to the house after the sale. A week later because of the Covid-19 the service company came out to look at the unit and they were unable to make a repair due no model or serial number on the unit.

    The information was passed onto Choice Home Warranty which proceeded to deny the claim. Reason was repair from the seller had to be done before the warranty transferred to us the buyer. Three days before the closing, not going to occur with Covid-19 affecting businesses. I did send in a request to reconsider showing the unit was working when we put in our contract on the house. Choice Home Warranty said that I would have a caseworker assigned within 24 hrs and a reply back in 48 hrs.

    After two days I found out about the caseworker when asked to fill out a survey. I reached out to him via email. No response from the caseworker. After 5 days from my initial request I finally got a call back from Choice Home Warranty from a different representative. After a lengthy discussion the representative admitted that an item has to be broken within your actual ownership of the policy and it also has to be fixed within the policy period.

    So the poor marks goes to lack of timely feedback as they did not even meet their stated standard for contact times. Also vagueness in the contract as to how transfers work from a seller/buyer situation. I also sold a house and the realty group bought a warranty from another company than Choice Home Warranty. When I spoke to the other company they said it is covered in such a situation. I wonder if this is true. To end the discussion I asked what is the real value in have a home warranty as I do not see one other than the $500 spent for the aggravation for the situation.

    The repairman that was sent out was great. We were not thrilled with the outcome. The repairman told us that the unit should be replaced. We received notice that the ignite button can be replaced, but we are responsible for cleaning the device. We have no clue how to clean the INSIDE of a hot water heater, or how to get to the inside of the water heater. I guess we will just have them fix the part that was authorized and submit another claim because the water is still not hot. This was already the second time having someone out for the water heater.

    Updated 8/20/2020: Again Choice Home Warranty makes things difficult when I have a legitimate verifiable claim. It was determined my water needed replacing, & your contract covers the water heater & installation. But, I get an Email with a demand for $455 dollars from me to proceed W/ replacement! I declined, & called & Emailed back asking for a detailed report of what that money was for. I was told a 'case worker' would be assigned to me. That never happened.

    The Plumber, Tiburcios called me & said had parts needed & were ready to install. I discussed the $455 dollars, & he told me, had spoken W/ Choice warranty people & would accept $355 dollars, I asked what that was for. He said new supply lines & some other material needed to complete task. I asked him for a breakdown of items, which I have not yet received! I reluctantly paid to get the job done. I would have understood another $100 dollars or so, but as of now, I see nothing that should have cost me an extra $355 dollars. Would still like to know exactly what this money was for.

    Original review: A plumbing tech arrived & confirmed leak, took photos & measure. Info given to Choice. Received, Email from Choice, need $455 EXTRA from me to complete project! No breakdown of what that was for! I declined, project on hold & waiting for Case Mgr. Very poor way to treat people. I would pay a little extra for items but not half the cost of project. My water heater has been in same spot since house built, no major changes needed. What is going on?! Choice covers the water heater & installation, so what EXACTLY is this extra money for?     The frame of the over range microwave has broken and according to the diagnosis cannot be repaired. You offered $170 to replace it, which doesn't cover the cost of the machine itself but you allowed nothing to install the new machine claiming clause F16 absolves you from responsibility which I feel is ludicrous. I still don't understand that clause and although your case manager did increase the machine allowance I'm still over $100 out of pocket.

    Repairing/replacing a AC Unit took Choice 19 days due to very poor customer service. In order to make sure the new air conditioning unit was matching at least the specifications of the unit it replaced before the installation, I contacted customer service to find out the specs of the new unit. On July 28 and 29 I spoke with two people in customer service who were unable to give me an answer, first one, Chris, put me on hold and then hung up, while the second, Karen (or Caren?), promised to answer in a follow-up email which she never sent. The third time around, on the 7/31/20, a representative was able to give me the make and model of the replacement Choice had approved. I do not understand how it was possible that for so many days no one knew or was able to find out what replacement unit had been approved.

    However, the replacement air conditioning unit did not meet the specifications of the unit it needed to replace. The old unit was a 5 ton unit while the one Choice was sending was a 4 ton (Lennox ML14XC1-048-230) which was insufficient. It took more phone calls and emails until a proper replacement was approved and installed. Please note that the technician who diagnosed the problem and did the replacement work was very prompt, professional and efficient, the whole delay was entirely a customer service issue. All this happened in the middle of the summer in the South where 19 days without AC is a long, long time! Thank you.

    To be fair, this company did promise excellent customer service and quick response time. The response time was not the issue. The tech was able to get out to see the issue quickly. The problem is that it is Choice's tech. They get paid by Choice. When the tech they pay diagnoses the problem and delivers the solution Choice should listen. Instead, they made my whole family including my 88 year old mother in law sit in an unairconditioned home with temperatures inside the house reaching 84 degrees.

    I was told I could appeal the decision. I did. I was even contacted by a case manager via email. Three days later there is no follow up. I have left over 8 messages and emails asking to please make contact. Nothing. No response. The tech and I both explained to them the situation. The tech even sent them pictures. They told him they would authorize him to replace the unit. While he was waiting to order the new unit they denied the claim. This is not how you do business.

    After multiple trips to repair our ice maker it was determined it could not be fixed. It is only five years old and the retail price to replace is about $2500. We were offered only $500, which is the balance of the allowance to replace the ice maker AFTER the repair charges were deducted. This is NOT what we were told... that a greatly reduced amount of money would be offered. We were told if an appliance could not be repaired it would be replaced. That has not been the case.
