    I called and put in a claim Sunday night for washer repair. An appointment still has not been scheduled by Choice Warranty, yet I have found a repair service on my own which means I have to pay and then be reimbursed. Also service personnel has to submit diagnosis for approval before service. This is inconvenient for service person.

    The contractor had called me to confirm the date of service/repairs. For the second time now, the contractor was either given the wrong date, or two separate contracting companies wrote the service dates down incorrectly. Also, while Choice Home Warranty had agreed to cover the repairs, CHW came back after the fact and said that some of the repairs were not covered.

    The guy that came to the house yesterday 8-25-20 was great and fixed the problem on the spot. Was accurate with the time we set up due to my work schedule. Completed the job to satisfaction. The jokers you all sent out the 1st time didn't have anything to do the job or even look at the job as I had to provide them with a flashlight to get under the house and look at the problem.     I get my air cond. Service checked 2 times a yr. It had a problem. I called CHW and they were very professional and the repair company, Opulis mechanical, call me the same day. So far so good.     I made a claim for my AC not working properly. The first company that Choice HW sent out "no showed" twice. That's 2 days that I took off of work, waited and did not receive service all the while living in a hot house in Texas. Choice HW reassigned the claim, the new company came out, evaluated the problem, and I was charged $235. I was told I still needed a part TXV valve and that would cost an additional $895!

    The claim but submitted and promptly denied. I appealed the claim and was assigned to a "case manager" named Sylvanna **. I spoke with her, or should I say, I listened to her speak condescendingly to me, talk over me, interrupt me and basically negate any opinion or thought I had. I am appalled that this representative was hired to work with customers to find a solution. I think she would be better suited working for a collections agency. I'm sad that I chose Choice HW if I'm going to have to deal with the likes of Sylvanna **.

    The service provider was quick to diagnose the issue and quick to make the determination that the washer was not repairable. The offer of $350.00 was an insult. We have been loyal Choice Home Warranty customers for over 5 years & this was the 1st full Replacement. I agree we should not get full payment for a new washer but $350.00 was an insult. I disputed the claim and it was adjusted to $450.00. Then I was told it would take 30 days for a check to be sent to me. Really 30 days.     Submitting initial claim online was fine. Waited for the 6 hour window of when I was supposed to hear anything with no word. Called in, was told it can take up to 24 hours. Waited longer. Submitted a message online at end of day. Next day I get a response from online messages saying still waiting. Then finally a message stating they can't find anyone and I can get my own tech if I want. Knowing I have to pay and get reimbursed. I think this is fair if you really can't get anyone. Turns out, no one wanted to take the job because it wasn't covered. Which was clear to everyone else but me.

    My tech comes out. Online submittal for him is very tedious but he fills out all the info to replace my broken AC fan. Within 10 minutes he gets a message stating it is not authorized, no reason. Call myself to figure out what we did wrong after a while, the first agent I was speaking to hung up on me. 2nd one after another lengthy hold and hemming and hawing finally tells me the repair is not a covered repaired due to some policy byline blah, blah, blah. OK, so fine, not covered. But why didn't someone just say so as soon as I submitted the claim online with the message stating exactly that it was a broken fan blade. I could have spent 3 less days in AZ 110+ heat with no AC.

    My experience with Choice Home Warranty has been horrible. I filed my first claim about my AC unit in February 2020 and the technician came to fix it at that time. He also cleaned my unit. That same unit went out in June 2020 and again it was cleaned. Now here in August 2020 the same exact unit went out and my motor needs to be replaced. They denied the request from the Technician to replace the motor because they said it was due to the unit being dirty which is not covered. My unit was cleaned twice this year! They gave me the run around and have been without air since I submitted my claim. The customer service and Claims Department are horrible and do not listen or respond. They are doing everything in their power to not help me. They rather I stay here with no AC and deny my claim.

    I have called CHW 3 separate instances for the same complaint of my Central H/A. There have been 3 separate companies sent to my home to evaluate and service the unit. The problem is still here, however, the service technicians who came from 3 separate companies have all stated there was a different problem and stated they worked on the unit and corrected an issue. The last tech stated we have a "mercedes" top of the line unit, but we have less than adequate air flow, that he would suggest adding an additional air intake grill to accommodate our unit. To enlighten you, this means cutting an additional hole in my ceiling, adding an aluminum box with a duct fitting at the end of it to attach to the ducts that run throughout my attic.

    I am not disappointed in the technicians, they only do what they have been taught to do, I am however very disappointed in CHW and the CS dept. Why 3 separate companies? Why 3 separate diagnosis, why 3 separate non covered diagnosis? It's the same unit and the service techs appointments have all been within a 12 month period. My house is still hot, my floors still sweat, and my entergy bill is through the roof ($505.00 for July and $454.00 for August) because we have to keep the thermostat on 65 to keep the house temp at 73 to 75, this makes the unit run non-stop.

    I have appointment scheduled with another HVAC company tomorrow 08/25/20 at 9:30am for a free estimate and diagnosis of what is truly going on with this cooling system. I asked your CS rep if I could request a company myself through CHW, obviously I was told no, so now I am doing this out of my own pocket. I will let you know the outcome, and more than likely will be canceling my account at that point. If I can't get the AC unit taken care of due to the Section F #11 clause, will everything I own fall under this clause?

    The HVAC owner of Wilson H & A of Vilonia AR came today. He spent from 10:00 to 11:20 reviewing my system from stem to stern. He says I have 18 inches of duct coming from the unit where I should have 4 ft. He said this small amount of duct is capturing the 55 degree air and just tumbling it in place inside the 18" of duct. This tumbling around and around is warming the air before it travels through the duct work and into the house from the vents. This is also creating humidity inside the duct that is short and this is why it feels that it is not removing humidity inside my house, and it makes my floors sweat. He has stated that he can upgrade/update our unit since it is 9 years old, but I have chosen to put a hold on replacing any of the equipment for now. I am however going to hire him to replace this piece of duct that is the incorrect length.

    It amazes me that 2 of the companies you rate so highly through your warranty criteria didn't catch this, it was Rollingson HVAC that stated we needed more intake because our unit was starving for air due to the duct work, at least he was on the right track. Your other two, wanted to sell me a new unit for $5000.00, and overcharge the unit with freon.

    I think you should investigate your service companies and their backgrounds for solving complaints before you recommend any more of them. Also the 2nd company out of Sherwood said we were pouring money in a bucket with a hole in it with CHW, he usually puts any calls that come in from CHW as far down his schedule/call list as possible. He recommended we look into 2/10 Home warranty. I am going to have a sit down discussion with my husband about our situation with CHW. I am NOT HAPPY with this at all, we are out $180.00 just for the tech to show up and CHW not cover any of the issues. Plus I pay 54.00 and some change per month for the warranty that doesn't fix any of my needs.

    My husband had a stroke 09/01/2017 and he is unable to be "the man of the house" and check off my " honey do list", that is why I chose to get a home warranty company. If you are interested, I have copies of the invoices from these companies and from Wilson's. Contact me and I'll send them to you. I would think you should have your own copy though, since they report their findings of the service call to you.

    Updated on 08/18/2021: I gave two stars because although they say they have a high call volume, they still answer the phone within a 3 minute window. As far as service goes, that remains to be seen. The first company to show up discovered the condenser was shot (22 years old original equipment). It would only cost me 1,400.00 out of pocket to get it fixed because I'm responsible for all the upgrades due to government regulations. Now I'm told because the A/C company can't get a condenser, a different company will have to come out to start the process all over again. While I'm typing this, it's 108 outside. So...anybody with a unit that's older that 2019, be prepared to pay for the upgrades. They offer a call back service...They never called back when I activated it.

    Original Review: Gary was extremely rude. He kept cutting me off while trying to ask questions. He insisted on selling me a 3 year plan and when I said no I could sense his aggravation. When I asked for a copy of what's covered under the plan I bought, he again cut me off and hung up on me.

    Against my better judgement due to bad reviews I decided to give Choice Home Warranty a chance. It's been over 2 weeks since submitting my claim & still no repair has been done. What if the issue had been my AC or some other more urgent need than a ceiling fan which quit working. This was a test run with this company & they've failed miserably. I have a friend who also started service for a home in a rural area. They confirmed there would be coverage before paying over $600 for the warranty & when their stove quit working they were told to find their own serviceman & choice would reimburse. What a joke of a warranty company.

    While I believe this company offered more coverage than some other warranty companies offered under a special promotion. What I didn’t care for is their sales approach. I felt pressured into making a decision right then and there to get the promotion I was offered. While my mind was focused on getting the best and affordable coverage for my household, I was surprised to learn after the sales rep explained the coverage and the cost to find out I had to pay for entire cost for the year with my credit card and my warranty doesn’t start until 30 days later. It was against my better judgement to conduct business this way.

    I was especially upset when I talked to a friend of mind and found out that the company she chose did not require the entire fee up front with the same coverage that I received. My advice to others is to find a company that you don’t have to pay the annual premium up front unless Choice will allow you to pay monthly because if something happens to your system after you have paid for the entire year before your warranty goes into affect you will have to pay for the repairs out of pocket when you have just paid for a warranty that you can’t use. So that is my lesson learned. This is supposed to be a win win situation according to the sales rep Neil but We will see. The customer service is okay. They can be more friendly.

    If you check them out online the prices are not clear and you have to put in your name and phone number and email address before revealing info about cost. In my experience I was comparing several warranty companies. They called me in the middle of my research and the sales rep that called quoted me a different cost than what was online and was very abrupt and nasty. When I questioned him he said, "I suggest you go back online and look at the packages we offer" and call them back. After that they called my house 3 to 4 times a day until I picked up the phone today. They also sent me email.

    They are a joke! Do not choose this company! First I had a repair guy that came, ordered a part, came back, replaced the part and turned the dishwasher on and said it works. Never let it run to see if it really works. Well it didn’t. He was then scheduled 2 or 3 more times and never showed up. Got a new tech to come out said he needed to order a part and then got an email with a money (due to repairs are more than dishwasher is worth) offer that I denied.

    My LG dishwasher 1.5 years old paid $700 for it got offered 178.99 to get it replaced. When I denied NO case worker called. Had to call them constantly back. Finally had to threaten with attorney and then I was offered an additional $75 or Choice Warranty will pay the repair up to $178 and I have to pay the difference or I take what I’m offered. When I talked attorney again I was told she can offer $278 not more and that was it. It was explained it has to be a similar dishwasher. I was also told that they have to replace With similar Object and not equal! Yes it is in the contract. I was also lectured on what similar is and was pretty much told in much more nicer words that similar means as long as I can put dishes in and it is washing that that was good enough for them. If I have a stainless steel one they will not replace with stainless steel because a simple white one is similar.

    I’m still waiting for a call back! This has been now going on for weeks (6/16/2020 today is 8/25/2020). For what I was offered I can only get a dishwasher that has absolutely no features close to mine! No delay, no WiFi, no half rack washing, no super, no disinfection cycle, no nothing. Nothing electronic only hand dial. No self cleaning, nothing, no water for bottom and top rack only for bottom rack. And only black, white and off white when I have all stainless. And still have to put money out of my own pocket for it.

    So after a call of a supervisor I was offered $320. Then I was asked why I denied the first tech and why I had requested a different tech. Well if the first one would not shown up the 3-4 times he was rescheduled I would have not asked for a new one! I was told the second tech, who was with Sears couldn’t get the part needed. That’s why I was asked to accept the money.

    Well, I’m rescheduled for a third tech now. The third tech stated that he can’t fix it. It’s done! I then tried to get a hold of a case worker again. Finally on 8/25/2005 I talked to Freda and Latasha supposedly the highest people in the entire company who can make a decision on what will get offered. Well, now I’m getting $300 dollars because nothing was posted in the computer. And I had asked to get my money back and cancel my rental starting September 1st. Also wasn’t recorded in the computer. Now I have to wait an additional 30 days to get my money back for this. So be aware. You might have a broken side by side refrigerator and you might get offered a little college dorm fridge as a replacement. Do not go with this company under no circumstances!

    I made this claim on my fridge over a month ago. Woke up one. Ironing the fridge was warm and not working. I called Choice and an appointment was set up for repair. The soonest was 4 days later. As a result I lost $300-$400 in groceries. The tech comes and says he doesn’t the parts to repair and that he was putting in for a replacement fridge. Days keep going by and Choice tells me they are sending out a new tech - Sears repair. Ok that appointment was a week later. I was told parts are needed and so they were ordered. 3 weeks later the parts arrive. Then an appointment is set up again for a week later. So now it’s been 6 weeks since my original call for service. Tech comes from Sears and installs the parts. He tells me the timer is on defrost and that it will start after 15-20 mins. Well that never happened. After an hour I called Sears appointment 800 number and was told they would reschedule a tech for me.

    This is crazy. 6 weeks later and I don’t have a working fridge. How is this possible? This is my only fridge in my home. It’s not a dishwasher or microwave. This is my side by side refrigerator - freezer. I feel abandoned by Choice, disrespected by Sears and Choice - 6 weeks without a working fridge! This is totally unacceptable in this day and age to be without a refrigerator for 6 weeks. Choice should have replaced the appliance weeks ago and I wouldn’t be out a fridge still. In all my years of having home warranty service I have never been so mistreated. I simply feel Choice doesn’t care about me. Still no Fridge - 6 weeks.

    It took from August 2 until August 17 for you to find a repair person. I received daily emails saying we are looking, You suggested each time that I could start the reimbursement process which I didn’t want to do.     For a while now I have always been comfortable knowing that Gary ** operation for home repairs where the best. Recently there definitely have been changes again to the way the operation has been run. The promise that replacing the unit that fails and cannot be repaired has changed. The allowance of what an item cost to be replaced has changed and the time line for receiving such money has been extended.     My experience with Choice Home Warranty is awful. My plan started on July 23 my AC condenser went on August 1st. I didn't know I was covered. So I had an outside company remove my condenser due to the fact I was paying out of pocket for everything. Until I spoke with a sales person. They told me to put in a claim and they would honor the reimbursement. I put in a claim and they didn't honor anything and I was told they can't fix or replace the unit. The reason they gave is the unit had a pre-existing condition. Which makes no sense. I had asked what that means and they can't give me an answer. It was working in May. June and July. It just stopped working without any signs. It's a condenser. They don't give off any signs. They are going to break down. Unless the unit had no Freon.

    Terrible company to deal with. They hung up me more than 10x. On their website it clearly states as soon as my first payment they will fix or replace AC units. Everything in my home as well as anyone else's home has an appliance or some other item has a pre-existing condition. Nothing but aggravating. $480.00 a year for these this company to tell me something like this is awful. Even though my program just started. Like I said I was paying for my AC unit from the get go. I will continue to pay for it and cancel my Choice Home Warranty services.

    On Aug 14, 20 a tech from Grants was assigned to inspect my ac unit. The service address was **. He informed that the unit had to be cleaned so I agreed, to have him clean the unit Then I was informed that freon was low, so he add 3 pounds of freon,. He added a dye to see if there were any cracks. He had to leave and I had to leave to go home (Orland Park, IL). He said he would return to check on the status, I was informed that he had ordered a part to complete the service call and repair, I have kept in touch with your office so that I could send in my review on a completed service call and repair, I was told today that the complaint was denied, I was not given a reason, just told to send in an appeal.

    A little annoying to say the least. So as of now I have invested Your service call of $75.00, Freon, $160.00, and cleaning $200.00 to get the unit prepared to be inspected for repair, I am very disappointed in the denial. I am considering canceling my warranty, I don't feel it's right for me to have to appeal a denial without a reason for that denial. I don't think I can pass on a referral to anyone for your company. I am anxiously awaiting your reply..

    I wasn't home with the tech arrived but my husband was. He said the tech was great! Said he was pleasant and was in and out in about 10 minutes and had replaced the old garbage disposal with a new one. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet him, but based on what my husband said I would give him a 10.

    I was quite pleased with the technician. He was polite and very knowledgeable. He even set up an appointment date and time for installation of the replacement part. Except the date came and went. I called. The part is back ordered. Sadly, no one called to tell me or to cancel the appointment. My "Experience" rating is low because of Choice Warranty.

    The technician explained that a drawer lid is ESSENTIAL for the refrigeration portion of the refrigerator to maintain temperature and regulate the air flow from the freezer. It is part of the reason the refrigerator has been overheating. He then informed me that Choice Warranty refused to cover the cost of this necessary replacement part. The drawer lid is a critical part of the functionality of the refrigerator. Its replacement should be a covered cost. Until the repairs have been completed, I will not rate Customer Service. Again, the technician was polite and very knowledgeable, but Sears should have informed me of the back order and the cancelled appointment.
