    Made arrangements for technician to come. Got e-mail that appointment was changed to a time I couldn't accept. Had to call to get rescheduled. Tech showed up 3 hours past the end of the appointment window and told me that a part I could have ordered and replaced myself was the problem. He has to order the part and I'm awaiting the call for him to install it. That's at least 3 weeks without a dishwasher I might have been able to fix in less than a week. They are also very annoying about making sure you review even when you tell them no.

    The tech that arrived was courteous and professional. I was disappointed with the claim manager’s attempt to blame final decisions on what is allowed as this was a slightly different circumstance. No one assumes a property and pulls out major appliances to view the rear if they seem to be working correctly. Choice Home would be best suited to have an escalation team beyond the case managers. Having the ultimate authority solely rest at that level is very unfortunate.

    I have reviewed the policy and it is not what I was lead to believe was covered under the policy contract. I wish to cancel my policy as soon as possible and request a full refund. The items that I thought were covered under this policy are not covered. I have a policy with American Home Shield which covers a lot more items than described in policy contract without a lot of exclusions. I request a full refund. The exclusions were not explained to me at the time I took out the warranty.

Please do not get into the talk from their sales agents as they will do best to get you signed up with big promises and fine prints term agreement.     Beware! I too, had a horrible and miserable experience with Case Manager, Candi **. I pay extra for my warranty plan so to add on my Water Softener. When I first called Choice about issues with my Water Softener, I was assigned to a Case Manager called Candi. At first, I foolishly thought that this was great, this company is getting my claim escalated to a decision-makers who will help me! Oh, how wrong I was. After trying for 2 days to reach her by phone, Candi finally responded. In order to shut me down, she stated at first that Choice does not cover Water Softeners. When I assured her that mine was covered, and told her to actually look at my contract, she put me on hold multiple times to scheme with her co-workers to invent a reason to deny the replacement, or even the repair of my Water Softener.

    My contract has no detailed inclusions or exclusions language written in it for Water Softeners. So, Candi (along with her Choice entourage while putting me on hold) was making it all up as she went along, during our phone call. She said that Choice was denying my claim due to lack of maintenance, which is so generic and absolutely absurd. She lied and said this was what the technician they hired had told Choice. However, I have written proof that was not what the technician actually found, and that what she was telling me was FRAUD!!! Especially if their so-called Pre-Screened technician wrote one diagnosis for me, and another for Choice Home Warranty!!!

    The statement and receipt that Technician who Choice Home Warranty hired at “Integrity Home Solutions” gave to me on their COMPANY LETTERHEAD SAID THE FOLLOWING: “Media from the softener is infiltrating the waterline because the softener head is no longer functioning properly and the unit needs to be replaced. This is been caused by NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OVER THE YEARS. The homeowner pay the deductible in the amount of $45 via credit card. It has been submitted for authorizations.” This is exactly what is on my description of work, word for word (including the improper grammar). Additionally, here in this exact Consumer Affairs website it states: “Home warranties are DESIGNED TO COVER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF THE APPLIANCES and systems in a home”.

    By the way, I bought a 6-year Choice Home Warranty plan, three years ago, so my deductible is lower due to my 6 year commitment and upfront payment in full, of thousands of dollars all at once. Candi insisted that the technician told Choice something different than what is written on my detailed statement/description of work. Candi said that I could contact their service provider “Integrity Home Solutions” myself and hire them to repair or replace the unit, but that Choice would not be covering it due to lack of maintenance. I asked her what constituted “lack of maintenance”, and Candi said “changing the Media”. So, I called the supervisor at “Integrity Home Solutions”, and he told me that the Media in my unit cannot be changed. And that the Water Softener entire unit needs to be replaced. The same language that is on my Statement/Receipt from them!!!

    Furthermore, in my Water Softener owner’s manual the only routine maintenance that is written for the owner is “Cleaning the Nozzle and Venturi Assembly”, which has been done on my end. My GE Owner’s Manual is what I have to go by, because my Choice Home Warranty contract says nothing and has no details at all about Water Softener inclusions or exclusions. However, my Water Softener is listed under “Optional Coverage”. Choice is trying to scam me, and the integrity of this company and warranty which I paid thousands of dollars upfront for, is completely damaged! They will be getting the notice from my attorney, and I will not hesitate to file a law suit against this corrupt company who is doing nothing to make the situation right!!!

    We recently purchased the Choice Home Warranty after our Sears Home Warranty had expired and based on the television ads we had seen we chose this company. Several weeks after the purchase, our dishwasher, during a normal cycle operation, malfunctioned and the rotating sprayer which was made of plastic, came loose during the wash cycle and fell off the supporting arm and onto the heating element. The heating element obviously burned into the plastic, melting it and also ruined the heating element itself. The dishwasher is several years old and has functioned properly through hundreds of wash cycles. It became apparent that the malfunction occurred from years of use of a plastic part and it had worn out.

    We reported the incident to Choice, a technician was sent to evaluate and repair. He identified the problem and submitted the purchase order for replacement parts. Later that day we learned that the claim had been denied because someone in the claims office had "determined" that the failure was not from "normal wear and tear", and this person obviously had not seen the washer. My wife attempted several calls to customer service and the claims department, and only received recorded messages. Finally on the third day, she received a call from the "claims manager" and was questioned by my wife as to why it was not a valid claim. She didn't get a satisfactory answer and the end result was that we cancelled the policy.

    After cancelling the policy we found that this company is under litigation for numerous violations of their service contract by several states Attorney's General, and for misleading advertising. For example they claim if they can't fix it they will replace it and even provide an 800 number, yet when my wife asked about replacing it, the claims manager told her "we don't replace anything." They also have had over 13,000 complaints with the Better Business Bureau in three years and have a B- rating with the BBB. I fail to understand how they can end up with such a high rating from other agencies.

    This is truly a fraudulent company. They upsold me to a six-year contract. Their marketing convinced me they were a great company. My first claim was a very simple and inexpensive repair to a heat circulator. Their technician was clearly motivated to find a pre-existing condition. They wanted to take my service fee and never return. Claim was denied, until I could easily prove how ridiculous the finding was. Technician then refused to complete the repair. So I’m out $65 with no apology.

    Second company was assigned and refused to come because they weren’t getting paid by CHW. I then looked into TS and Cs, and realized that if I canceled before end of term, I’d have to pay back all services rendered for the length of the contract on top of what I already paid and $50 fee. I have worked with home warranty companies for 20 years, and no one does this. Needless to say, I canceled and cut my losses. They took $160 from me for doing nothing but wasting countless hours of my time. This is their business model. Do not do business with them under any circumstance.

    I'm very disappointed with this service. I never received anything in writing however the salesman advised me when I questioned and wanted verification that if something was not repairable it would be replaced. I questioned the replacement and I was advised it would be replaced with the same or equal quality item. My washer broke down. I had a Maytag commercial top loader which averages between 700 and $1,200. I was offered $299 which I refused. They ended up coming up a little bit however it did not cover the cost of removing nor delivery of a new washer and it did not cover the cost of installation and it did Not cover the cost of an equal or equivalent washer. I told them that I wanted them to replace it as I was told if it couldn't be fixed it would be replaced by them!!!.

    I did not want to be sent a check. I did not want to have to pay delivery and installation. That to me is not replacing an item that they cannot fix. I was advised that the salesman did not give me correct information and that they don't have to replace it with equivalent and that they're not going to worry about it being delivered or installed. That's my problem. They're not responsible to order it. That I should take this money, be happy and pay whatever difference I want to have the same quality washer that I need and that I need to wait 3 weeks to get my check which means I can't do laundry for 3 weeks unless I pay up front.

    Being as I'm on disability getting only $1,100 a month and paying all my living expenses where do they think I'm going to come up with $850 to replace the washer that they claim they aren't responsible to replace although their salesman told me that it would be replaced equivalent. This is the biggest rip-off company I've ever seen and I wish I did not have to deal with them. I bought in for 6 years and will be cancelling the next 5 years to go to a reputable company. I had one, but I mistaken switch believing they matched the other company's contract, just a cheaper service fee and long haul discount buying it in advance for 6 years.. Run and run quick.

    My A/C went out on a Sat. night. I filed a request, waited but heard nothing. The following day I filed again. Still no response from a technician. Was then sent an email saying I could go outside to find my own service technician, submit bills for reimbursement. Never heard another thing. Called a repair company and found out that my motor had burned out and the fan snapped. He did the repair, I paid the company, and then started the process of reimbursement.

    Apparently, I did not follow the guidelines of how "reimbursement" takes place and have been told I am not going to be reimbursed for the repair. They claim "another email was sent" to me and it tells me that I get an "estimate" and not a repair. Submit the estimate to then be reviewed by Choice to see if it is worthy of reimbursement. Anyone who lives in Florida knows if your A/C goes out, and your condo is showing 90 degrees inside and it's 90 degrees with 90% humidity outside, and you're going on 12 to 14 hours of no A/C you don't have the luxury of waiting for consideration. But, I was not aware of this. I did what the last email I received said to do. I "didn't follow the guidelines" of the Choice contract so now I am self paying the cost to get my A/C up and running again. Lesson learned.

    These companies don't care about you, your circumstances or your situation. If you go outside their set "rules" you are not eligible for jack squat if you don't do all they tell you to do. Tell that to older people living in my condo with me who cannot sit in 90 degrees waiting for "consideration and evaluation." This is my first experience with a warranty company EVER, and frankly, with the people I have had to try and work with it has been nothing shy of a disaster, a waste of money and loss of trust that I am going to be taken care of. If you don't "follow the rules" you get NOTHING. You get nothing but robotic people on the other end quoting you numbers in your contract that tell you why you're not getting squat. Not one person had a ounce of empathy to my situation, offered to reimburse regardless. Not one offer to even consider my situation.

    Even knowing no one service provider responded to take the call. Not one service provider offered to take the call. No response. Nothing. Let me ask you? What would you have done if you were here in Florida and your A/C went out and you needed it repaired? Probably the same thing I did. Don't do it. Your chances of not following the rules for getting an outside vendor vs. one they provide will probably find you just like me.

    I spent weeks comparing companies and felt I had made the right choice with CHOICE. BIG MISTAKE. This single girl (who is not working) just felt the effects of no one on her side to help her out. The effects of no one caring that maybe, just maybe I didn't get the follow up email telling me there is a lengthy process expected to include photos, ID numbers, etc. to prove that the motor burned out and the fan snapped from the problem.

    I was at their mercy for reimbursement and they denied me because I didn't follow the rules. THEY COULDN'T PROVIDE ME A SERVICE PROVIDER. Not an ounce of empathy that I have not abused my warranty, this was my first time. Not an ounce of empathy with older people in the home with no A/C and I had to submit an estimate to make sure it was within guidelines for payment. How long would that have taken? Not an ounce of empathy for honoring something, just once, to help a girl out. NOPE.

    Read this and remember, it could happen to you, too. CHOICE, the right thing to do would be to reimburse me, take care of me and be done with it. NOPE. You all stick to your guns that this girl didn't follow the protocol (which I didn't know) and now I'm denied. Thank you. Does it feel good to jack with people who trust your company would have come through with both a repair person and a repayment.

    Looked for reasons to deny the claim. Even the water heater is an appliance and covered under the contract. When the water heater malfunction and does not provide hot water this is called malfunction and should have been authorized to replace it. I paid for its replacement and labor.     I was convinced to purchase a 3 yr pkg and it sounded like a good deal. I put in my first claim for my oven and CHW scheduled a repairman within 30 minutes of entering the claim. The repairman was going to replace a part and then said the oven would be replaced. Right away an offer for $349 was given. I had declined on 9/22 and was not able to connect with the case manager until 10/14. I understand the Covid situation, but there were too many emails and phone calls to finally discuss the issue. Seems better to repair than replace. The offer might cover 1/2 the cost of a new one. She was able to increase the offer, but there will definitely still be a large out of pocket cost. The service to put in the claim, appointment for the repairman, offer on the replacement, contacting other areas in hopes of getting the case resolved were all quick and I was impressed with that part. Hopefully my 2nd experience will be better.

    I'm think the process of having an appliance replaced takes entirely too long. I had a dryer replaced with similar results. I put in my claim on 9-25-20. The replacement didn't take place until 10-12-20. That's too long to be without hot water, and you shouldn't have to have it classified as an emergency to get faster service on that appliance. When you buy coverage they make it seem like they will replace it with only the service call fee ($45) free of charge. And they don't mention the fact that you still have to put in money on your new appliance. I had to put in $395 on the water heater. I could have purchased a water myself and put it in for less. If I add what I paid for the agreement.

    My experience with getting air condition parts installed was long drawn out and taxing. The first part to go was the condenser. It took 2 weeks for its delivery. Upon the specified delivery date, the service tech waited 4 four days to install although he had been given a delivery date and it arrived as indicated. The condenser did not cool after installation. The tech made 4 more trips to try and adjust its temp. By the 4th day, he discovered that the evap coil needed replacing. A complete diagnostic should have been initially done and would have revealed that both parts were defective and needed replacing.

    Calls to Customer Service were responded to with prepared answers. I explained that I was a senior and we were having 90 consistent degree days and I had to move out to my home during this time. After the 2nd installation, I was also that I had a $1500 limit annually on the air conditioner. According to the contract, it is $1500 per contract item, Each of these items were separate contract items based on 2 separate claims. I also had to pay overage fees of approx $1300 to the service provider.

    I had similar long wait times for parts for my oven and icemaker. I also had to continuously call the service provider to find out when they would come to install the parts instead of them calling me once the parts arrived to schedule an appt. With the icemaker, the tech came with the wrong size part after a month had passed but was able to get the correct one over the weekend. This showed poor service on his part. I found that the service technicians are not well qualified and reputable. I find the company does not have a strong customer service satisfaction policy and is unwilling to work out satisfactory agreements/arrangements. Would not recommend this company to anyone. Low premiums yield inferior service.

    I filed a claim for my air conditioner that stop working. I am 73 years old and my house was over ninety degrees. It took them about a week before someone came to service. It needed to be replaced. It took them over a month before they responded that the parts had to be ordered out of United States. Mr. ** denied the claim because it was not approved by him when in fact the resolution department told my daughter it would be okay and gave her all the information on what to do.

Then said on September 25, 2020 Some told me or my daughter it was denied but I remember receiving that call after I left for them to call me back the person hesitated and said, "Oh! I think it’s going to be denied." She was not sure. I told her no one has contact me on that and she said, "I can’t say because I am not sure they will contact you" and she speaking about Mr. Michael **. He ever call until today after I send in message on yesterday. He doesn’t answer his phone or return his call. I will not get anything for the conditioner. I came out of my pocket and bought the air conditioner and therefore I cannot and will not recommend this company. I have been a good customer for 3 1/2 years.

    The process to replace the AC has taken more than a month, too long, totally unexpected, many of the calls are not returned. I call the customer service almost every day (called yesterday also) and am told that someone will call back and 8 out of 10, it does not happen. Still waiting for the call that I made yesterday. I call Misty, the claim manager, but mostly she seems overworked and does not return phone calls. I am still responsible for some of the charges, which I understand. I requested an upgrade, but the additional cost given was three times the cost for the same upgraded Lennox unit outside. So it seems you are charging three times for the upgrade then I could get from external A/C contractor. I requested to just compensate me with the money but that was refused. The issue is still unresolved, I am not happy at all.

    Updated on 10/15/2020: We contacted CHW re a plumbing stoppage. The tech they assigned was so inept! He tried to get rid of the stoppage by using a snake, getting his snake snarled in the pipes. So he sawed off the handle of the snake and told us that the problem was in the pipe under the house and he would need to come back with other equipment. CHW told us they do not cover this so we called another plumber. They found and recovered the abandoned snake, eliminated the clog, shaking their heads in disbelief. And where is CHW? I don't know!!!

    Original Review: The tech came in, tore the toilet up, then left stating he needed different equipment. CHW has denied our claim, so we are stuck with a toilet which cannot be used and no tech. There must be a better way!!!

    I took the policy and later on I end up in situation to cancel it, it's been a very tough time time during cancellation process, initially they said, "Your refund will be process with in few business days" then I started getting email (maybe automated email) that, "Your refund will process in xx days," I am very disappointed with their service, they should refund it immediately, now I am scared of thinking what's gonna happened if I was going to continue the policy, maybe I kept on getting the same answers full of excuses, appreciate if I can get my refund asap as I cancelled the policy just after few hours after taking it.
