    Reached out to CHW to repair a 23 year old furnace. They could not provide me with a technician according to them due to Covid-19, so they offered the reimbursement plan. It took me 1 phone call to get a technician and a diagnosis within 24 hrs. I have a melted roll-out switch which deems my furnace unsafe. If I had called the local utility company to look at it they would have shut off my gas. All information about a faulty roll-out switch ties it to the heat exchanger and indicates it may or may not have a crack.

    CHW is still demanding a photo of the crack, or corrosion. I was instructed to resubmit with the cause of melted roll-out switch in place of failed heat exchange. We did that and indicated mild corrosion and now they have rejected the claim because they indicate water must have gotten in the furnace to cause premature cracking. The furnace is 23 years old. No company in my town will work with CHW and no independent contractor will work for them because they do not pay claims, but continue to charge you for the contract. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I have found no one that has anything good to say about them.

    The technician took no time at all to analyze the problem. He was pleasant and wore a mask. He said he would order the part and be back to install it. Choice Home said they were replacing, not repairing or installing the new oven. Although they planned to replace the unit, they offered a ridiculously low amount of money. Eventually, the amount went up but not nearly enough to replace the oven with equal features. They say they do not have to match what you have. VERY DISSAPOINTING.

    Most of the blame is on me because I did not completely read the contract or research what was covered and what was not. We have all high end appliances in our Kitchen ... Jenn-Air and Asko. I did not realize that the contract had a cap on those appliances or depending on how you read it does not cover these appliances at all (number 13 in the contract). Is Jenn Air considered "commercial grade equipment"? But, because of the pandemic there is a shortage of parts in inventory which allows you to make me an offer which I have no way to influence. I have to take your offer which really is no protection policy for me.

    Unfortunately, we had just convinced some friends and family members to sign up for your service and we were going to renew and "refer your friends". After reading the contract with your case manager, who was very helpful, I realize your service is not a good purchase for me. Based on the pandemic shortage of parts and the length of time to get replacement parts I am not sure I could recommend friends and family members to purchase your service. Just so you know we were not interested in getting our range replaced. We wanted it repaired. Also, you should know that our Case Manager, Cheryl **, was very professional, and provided good customer service.

    The Sears repairman who came out to diagnose my washing machine was excellent. Dealing with Choice Home Warranty was the worst! They allowed $350 for an identical replacement that would cost $1,470. Every time I had to deal with Choice it is brutal. Do your research, Choice has 6,700 consumer complaints on a review website. They have various excuses for not approving a claim!

Got an Email With company date and time. (Needed to change day) Rep couldn’t do it but I did it myself. The service man was terrific making it more convenient for me.     Thank you for reading this review. I just concluded a phone call on November 11, 2020 based on a claim I filed on September 18, 2020. When I made the claim, the claims representative was out of the office and I attempted to reach her multiple times. I believe she may have been out sick for a period of time but no one else covered her work. A few weeks after the claim was filed I was able to receive a response from her with a denial. Though I made a claim on my condenser unit they denied it saying it was part of a wall-mounted AC hander system. A condenser itself is not a wall-mounted AC handler. She offered me to refund the whole policy.

    I went back to the original sales representative who was a nice guy to begin with and since October 16th, he did not return my emails. I just wanted to know the next steps an his thoughts on the denial. So I called again and the supervisor for Choice Home Warranty offered me a refund minus two months of service even after I reviewed this experience with him. Basically, no full refund as promised and a disappointing experience overall with a company who prides themselves as being the best in the business. I'm glad to have gotten out from this relationship. They can keep my $200.

    Updated on 11/21/2020: Yes, I accepted the $350, because I was told by the claim manager, after being put on hold, that was all he could give me. He said he discussed it with his manager and that was the most they could go. So tell me what should I have done, fought them in court. I also called today to see how much longer it would be to get my check and I was told not until the 10th of Dec. I told the lady I was talking to, that I wanted to cancel my 3 yr membership that starts the 1st of Dec. and that I had not finished paying yet and that I wanted a refund of the money I had paid so far. She said she would make an appointment with my claim manager, but I said, "No I wanted to talk to accounting now." If I waited to talk to claim manager it could be after the first then I couldn't cancel. She said that was the only way I could do it.

    I said that if I couldn't cancel today then I would dispute. She then tells me I might not get my check then. I tell her that Choice might then have a lawsuit on their hands or I just might dispute this year's warranty, because they would be breaking their contract. She then hangs up on me. I call my credit card company and ask if I have grounds for a dispute and they said yes since Choice did not cancel. I ask them about them not paying me for my dishwasher when it was in the contract to replace dishwashers. They also said it sounded like a broken contract and I would be able to dispute. My advice to all customers is to pay with a credit card because if they do anything to you that is not in the contract or that is not right, you can dispute. If you pay with a check you are out of luck.

    Original Review: I paid for Fuller Appliance to come out and tell me it didn't work and he couldn't get parts. He didn't do anything but push a few buttons and make a call. You only wanted to give me a check for 259 for a Maytag washer that was in a range of 750 dollars. I didn't accept it so you increased it by less than a hundred. Please don't advertise you replace broken appliances because you don't. Car insurance replaces cars better than you replace appliances. I was even told that you would not replace a microwave when it would cost almost as much to fix it as to buy a new microwave by your appliance repair man. I will have to have someone install it too. Do you do that for no cost. Tell me are you really worth the money I out for you or would it be better for me to save my money and use it for the items I need to replace. I think I am going to cancel the next three year contract thats starts in December and you can return my money.

    I was in the process of purchasing a new home and wanted a home warranty. I started a new policy with Choice Home Warranty and paid in full the same day. Approximately 6 hours later, I received word that the home inspection found severe structural damage so I declined to purchase the home. I immediately contacted the "sales executive" at Choice, Kyle ** to cancel the policy, however, after 4 voice messages and 3 emails Mr. ** seemed to be refusing to return my call.

    I had to call in and speak to a resolution manager, Ms. **, who was a great help. She informed me that the name on the policy wasn't even my name and that she had received no request to cancel or refund, which would certainly have to go through her for approval. Thanks to Ms. ** I was able to get the policy cancelled and my $450 refunded. Beware of Kyle **, his customer service is questionable at the least and as far as him identifying a different name on the policy, I cannot even begin to imagine why that was done. When I do finally purchase a home, I will not be doing business with this company.

    Miguel from Pioneer Overhead Door, repaired my garage door on November 6th, replaced the belt drive gear, oiled it up, adjusted garage door resistance and now everything is quiet and runs smoothly. He was very detailed, new right away what the problem was, walked me thru his repair and showed me the bad part so I can see how damaged it was compared to the new one. It was obvious the gear was bad when the last company came out in September and should have replaced the part at that time so CHW or I did not have to pay twice for the same problem.

    I highly recommend Miguel from Pioneer Overhead Door, I'm not use to getting repairs done where a technician physically shows you bad parts and explains in detail what he is doing and why. I will actually be referring Pioneer Overhead Door to friends and family. I thought the company you sent out a couple of months ago was good but after my experience with Pioneer Overhead Door, the previous company does not even come close to the expertise provided by Overhead and possibly overpaid.

    Updated on 01/24/2021: I have received calls from Choice asking ONLY that I bring my account up to date. I have given them some alternatives. I said, "Send me a letter that you will honor my claim before I will give your company any more money." I then said that they can take what I owe since I had to stop giving them my monthly payments without getting service. Then I said, "Get a manager to approve one of these options & we can get this solved." All they keep saying is that the claim has been closed, YES on their side since they do not want to make good for the policy I purchased. They can not believe that I am going to give them more money for NO SERVICE... Please get a manager to send letter with the above options.

    TIME, but when it comes to honoring my claim on my air-conditioner, they make up NEW rules as they go along. It has now been almost 5 months and I am still waiting for my re-reimbursement on my claim. They asked me to wait 4 hours in a sweltering home in the middle of July in Florida till they tried to find someone to come out & fix the problem.

    After the 4 hours, I called them & THEY advised that due to the pandemic they could not find anyone. The Pandemic had been around for 4-5 months previous, they should had known this would have been an issue. When I spoke to them they advised this & I should try to get someone on my own & they would honor my claim. So I called my air-condition place & they were coming out the next day. The next day, I get a call from someone that they are coming out to look at the unit. I told them there was no need since Choice gave me the OK to get my own repair person.

    I then called back Choice & they said we sent you an E-Mail at 9:33 PM with this information. Not sure how they thought I was checking E-Mails in 90 degree heat inside my house & especially at 9:30 PM. This is how they are trying to get around not owning up to paying for the repair. My policy states the 4-5 hour wait time & not WHENEVER Choice Home Warranty feels like living up to my claim. I am looking for them to make restitution on what I had to endure & the policy I paid for.

    Now they are upset that I have cancelled any future payments on a policy that they are trying requesting I keep paying. All I want is what I deserve & they should understand that. We were all suffering from this Pandemic & my wife & I had to also endure 3-4 days of 90 degree heat in my house till I got the air conditioner fixed by Snyder on the following Friday. Not sure how they can look in the mirror, take my monthly payments & when I needed them the most, they FAILED...

    ORIGINAL REVIEW: Back in July 2020, my air-conditioner stopped working. I live in Jacksonville, FL. You image how hot it became in my house. I called Choice Home Warranty & they asked that I wait 4 hours till they get back to me. After 5 hours I called them & left a message. Without hearing from them, I called my local Snyder Air service to come out and see if they could fix it. As the heat got higher & higher in my home we had to use every fan possible to tolerate the heat. The next day, I received a call from a local Air service asking me what time they could come out. They explained that Choice called them at 9:30PM that night.

    I checked my phone to see if I missed a call. Then I opened my E-Mails and discovered that I received an E-Mail at 9:33PM. I am not sure why they thought I would be checking my E-Mails at that time of night with temps reaching almost 90 degrees in my home. I then contacted Choice to ask what was going on, only to get a customer service rep who was probably sitting in a cool office, saying, "We finally got someone for you due to the pandemic." Snyder had no issues with coming to my house since I have been using them for close to 11 years.

    I have tried over the past several months to get Choice to honor my warranty which they have repeatedly denied. The total for the repair & replacement was $5800.00. I would think they need to honor my warranty/claim since I had to endure 72 hours of heat while they skated around their policy. I also had to send them another E-Mail asking to stop charging me for my policy. They have to be held accountable for what I am entitled. Thank you.

    We signed up with Choice because it had the best rating. Boy was that a mistake. We have been a loyal customer for 3 years. We have made 1 claim since we were a customer; 11/01/2020 our outside AC stopped working. I called a made a claim, technician came and assessed the situation and determined the coils were bad. When he submitted his findings to the claims dept. The technician received a phone call from whoever received the claim in Choice's office. When the technician was explaining to him what had prognosis was, the guy in the claims department took judgement off of the pictures instead of the technician was telling him. Long story short we were denied our original claim for replacement of our system even AC falls under repair or replace that is listed in Choice's Terms and Conditions.

    When I asked the Case Manager why our claim was denied she stated that was normal wear and tear. Proceeded to tell me what section of the Terms and Conditions that was listed under, which did not match what was listed on their website. She emailed me a pamphlet and stated that our terms and condition were on that pamphlet. Case manager was extremely rude and would not let me speak in regards to my case. She did state she would see if there was anything she could do to help us. She stated she was going to contact the technician to see if they could get wholesale pricing and get with me. She left me a voice mail on 11/09/2020, I called her back several times shortly after she left me the voice mail.

    I have attempted to contact them again today 11/10/2020 about a 18 hr. from when she initially left the voicemail on 11/09/2020. I finally got someone on the phone in a different dept. to me that Choice was assist us with the replacing the system and offered $367. Folks be warned!!! They are not looking out for the consumer!!! I have spent $1440 in 3 years and have made 1 claim. The whole reason I signed on with them was to be there when we something go out that needed to repaired or replaced. But when you need them they will turn their backs on you.

    My water heater pilot wasn’t going on so I put in a claim with CHW. They sent a technician from Liv Smarter who said I needed a pilot switch. CHW informed me since it was under warranty I had to deal with Sears on my own. First it cost me $107 for Sears to come got part, but technician from Liv Smarter was wrong. The heater was leaking so I had to deal with Sears again for $107. They just came in and looked in the closet where the water heater was and said they would send a new one. One and a half months later the water heater came and Liv Smarter came to install it and informed me I had to pay them $300.

    When I contacted CHW about this charge they responded that I had to pay whatever the technician wanted with no explanation. So this heater cost me $214 to Sears and $345 to Liv smarter. I thought the insurance covered my appliances. Now I am thinking of pricing around for another warranty company when my contract is up and make sure how much each call should cost me. They tell you $45 but beware it’s not the case. I’ve renewed once with them because I never needed to use them for anything big.

    I was so annoyed and anxious after reading reviews on here that stated CHW doesn't pay for anything they always try to get out of it. That's simply not true. Our downstairs furnace went out. It just stopped heating overnight. They sent someone, he diagnosed the problem, and a day later claim was submitted and approved. THEN before the guy even had the control board in for the downstairs unit. Our upstairs furnace went out. Same thing stopped heating overnight. He came.     Not happy with the outcome to fix a 22-yr old furnace instead of replacing the unit. The rep offered no help and couldn't understand his broken English anyway. I felt that he didn't really care about what I was saying. My fear is that it may break down in the middle of winter and I will have to keep waiting for you to order parts. It is not going to be fixed until 11/12, so by that time it will be almost 2 weeks without heat.

    I have been a customer for a little over a year and a half. Home Choice Warranty was the first home warranty company we used. Our dishwasher started making loud noises and not doing a good job, so we contacted Home Choice Warranty, and they provided a technician very quickly. Technician was professional, courteous, and made the appointment time. Technician advised us the cost of the replacement part, which was valued at higher than the dishwasher. Home Choice Warranty and we agreed that it was more cost effective to get a new one. Ultimately, we came to replacement cost that was fair to both parties.

    Home Choice customer service was very responsive throughout the whole process. I was told the check would be received within 30 days, which I considered a little long, but not terrible. As noted above, I have never used another home warranty company, so I don't know if this is quick, long, or standard for the industry.     My washing machine stopped working. I paid my 60$ co-pay for a technician to come and fix the issue. He determined the problem was with a control board for the spin cycle. This part would cost 390$ to replace. Choice denied the replacement part and provided me with 350$ for a replacement washing machine. If you subtract the 60$ co-pay I already paid them only 290$. After doing some searching, the cheapest I can find a replacement for is $500. I would have had more money than this to purchase a replacement if I had saved my money instead of paying Choice Home Warranty 40$ every month. I think this service is a scam and a ripoff. I would recommend you just save your money instead of paying it to Choice and you will have more money in the long run.
