    I've used Choice Home Warranty since 2004 when I bought my first home. I had a few issues and left in 2006 which is why I gave it a 4. Decided to give them another try in 2017 with my home and my mom's house. So far so good. Technicians were always on time and the fee never changes. They even gave me a great price if I paid annually. A suggestion, how about including Electronics in your packages? Just a Thought.

    Their contracts states that they cover ductwork, and HVAC systems, but they always deny my claims stating wear and tear and the age of the ductwork or system. I asked them who needs their service if the HVAC is new. The HCAV would have its own separate warranty. They only seem to cover minor issues. Very disappointed with the service. We are looking for a more truthful and reliable home warranty.

    The service up to and when the repairman came out was great. You could not repair it so you sent me an email stating you would replace it for $986. (?) You needed a response immediately to get it in process so I said yes. Then I went to pricing refrigs and the amount you offered was nowhere close to what my old refrig is worth. They started at $1,599 for one is close to mine with the same manufacture. I called back. Was given to one of your claims specialist Ms. L. ** at ext **. I left her at least 6 messages to call back and to this day NOT ONE CALL BACK!! I called again today and they said, "We will have her supervisor contact her" and will call me back (NOTHING)!! You offer a decent service but your claim specialist department are the worst ever.

    I would not recommend Choice Home Warranty to anybody. I had to make a claim on my washing machine, and I was only given 541, the claims adjuster Misty that I had was rude. I called back on Jan. 19 2021 and spoke to someone else, because my warranty is up for renewal, and I spoke about what happen and that is when I was told my claim was over 653. Plus they took out another 65.00 for the service call that I paid to the company that came to my home so I got cheated. My service rep. never told me what was wrong with the washer or gave me a receipt. I would never recommend this company. I am looking at going to American Shield Home Warranty, cheaper and better coverage. The phone representatives are there to feed us a bunch of crap, and then the company does not come through on their word. I am a very upset customer.

    UPDATED 5/20/21: The parts for my electric range never came. I was told that the part was on order, and it would be here in a week or so. This was almost three (3) weeks ago. I have not heard anything since.

    The man who was sent to repair garbage disposer was great. He did a fantastic job. I had a question when he said he couldn't fix the cracked pipe next to the one for the disposer. I was told by the rep that they don't fix pipes. Then she said that I hadn't included the fact that the pipe had a break in it when I sent in the repair order. Well, what is it? You don't repair pipes because you don't do that or just because I didn't include it?

    Once again an item under contract as a “covered item” wasn’t covered. This is the 3rd time in a row. You didn’t cover the repair on the fridge, you didn’t cover the repair on the roof, and now didn’t cover the repair on the furnace, All these were "covered" under our existing contract...and to make matter worse; there is a limit on the replacement ...our dishwasher had to be replaced, our cost was $600 and you only gave us $300 for a replacement. We will be moving our warranty to a different company as soon as it expires this April after being with your company for years.

    Slow to respond to claims. They want you to deal with the problem. Send them the bill so you can get reimbursed. This way it cost you more by paying the technician for their visit then they deduct the deductible and to top it off they replace the item with the most inexpensive model.

    Updated on 04/08/2021: Needed a thermostat for my refrigerator. Tech came, took the $45 co-pay and never came back to fix it. I finally fixed it myself and CHW paid me for the Tech's estimate. Cancelling the contract was very difficult. I eventually went thru the NJ BBB. CHW said I had paid for a 5 year contract, but was given 1 year free. Everything I got from them and my record on their website just shows 6 years. They sent me some .jpg of some page that shows the 5/6 info. I certainly don't remember anything like that and I looked all thru my online record and couldn't find anything like that. They said they would send my pro-rated refund in 30 days for 5 yrs vs 6 years. I just didn't want anymore hassle with them and accepted their offer.

    The technician sent to evaluate the plumbing stoppage problem was very nice and seemed to know what he was talking about, however his boss had to be the one to submit the diagnosis for the job.     My first call for claim service to repair my heat pump that was icing was so unsatisfactory that I cannot recommend Choice Warranty. The contract service provider was excellent and came on time the day after the claim and diagnosed the problem immediately. In the outside compressor unit, a small snake had slithered on to the control panel and shorted it. The technician called Choice for approval to buy the part and was immediately denied.

    A couple hours later I received an email telling me the repair was disapproved because of their definition of normal wear and tear was not met. The unit is outside. Critters and insects getting inside an A/C unit is normal. I paid the technician the $85 deductible and now am paying him another $210 for the part for the repair. I was told that Choice many times uses the vague term normal wear and tear to deny claims. I will not renew with this company as they have no credibility or trust with me. Choice required the full year’s premium in advance instead of monthly payments. Now I understand the reason. I am looking at other home warranty services as I consider the premium paid to Choice Warranty to be wasted and I cannot have confidence that future claims will be honored.

    After reviewing the section of the contract pertaining to plumbing, I submitted a claim for replacement of a kitchen faucet. The only relative statement I saw was "Flow restrictions in fresh water lines caused by rust, corrosion or chemical deposits", which did not apply to my situation. Only after I received the notification that the claim was disallowed and referencing section F.1 "not included during the contract term; (i) malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion of all systems" did I see the reason. I consider this a DECEPTIVE PRACTICE of stating an exclusion in a totally separate part of the contract. You should not charge a service fee for what I would have seen as ineligible myself.

    When I signed up for Choice Warranty I ask a lot of questions about repair/replacements. I added to my warranty and got a $60 dollar deductible. I asked all about what was covered and what my out of pocket would be and every time I was told "$60" no matter what. I find out with my furnace replacement I had to come up with $650, I'm on a very fixed income and that's why I was looking at several warranty companies and your company was the best at answering all my question and assuring me of only $60 would be out of pocket.     Be careful about the other reviews on here saying they fix leaks. It depends on how it leaks. I had a roof leak and washing machine leak and they refused to cover either one. My HVAC went out and they said it was too old! These along with a list of other things they don't cover. If you need someone to unclog your toilet for $75 per incident on top of your membership fee, Choice is the warranty for you! Anything else, make sure you READ ALL THE EXCLUSIONS!

    I bought a 5 years policy with them after their salesman told me I can cancel and get my money back. After 2 years of excuses, I decided to cancel. They refused to refund the 3 years I had left. These people will lie and find any way to not help you because it cost them money. This company is about making money, not helping you.

    I am very upset over the handling of my claim. It was denied due to calcium and chemical buildup in the toilet. I was not told nor did I see any calcium buildup in the toilet. There was calcium in the pipes. All of my other toilets work just fine so if that is the issue with this toilet, why don't I have it with all others? You were only willing to pay $225 to install a new builders grade toilet. The toilet itself costs $180 so how does that cover the cost of the toilet and installation. I was very willing to pay for a much better grade toilet since this is a $500,000 house. The plumber advised nobody can install and pay for a builders grade toilet for that cost. If you aren't willing to pay for the services, why do you offer them? So, all the hassle and time spent with the plumber for nothing.

    How do you know for sure without either replacing the inner workings or the toilet itself what the problem is. My renewal is coming up in March and I will be shopping for a new home warranty company after paying thousands to you with no claims paid. I'll also be sharing with all of my friends and attorneys that I work with how my claim was handled. Don't count on me to give you any recommendations.

    Buyer beware!!! The contract does not allow for most day to day issues. Wear and tear is at their discretion and often leads to the customer paying for a service charge without repair. I have dealt with their contracted help and most of them will overcharge if you opt to have them do the repair outside of the warranty contract. Not satisfied with this warranty program at all.

    I would rate response time higher. I called about the dishwasher not operating. They immediately scheduled a tech to come check it out. Tech was on time and competent. Found the board that operates everything was faulty. CHW chose not to repair but offer cash for a replacement of our choice. This is ZERO stars. The amount offered would not cover labor to remove and install replacement. I rejected the offer they then set up a call, after discussion, they do not always offer full replacement value. The value they offer is based on wholesale pricing of which they do not extend that pricing leaving the home owner to pay the difference between wholesale and retail. End result offer will pay for half of equal replacement and if you cannot install yourself that will be on you. Read the fine print.

    Btw - Choice Home Warranty is lying on their website stating they have 5 stars on Trust Pilot when they just have 3.9 (alone on this they should investigated for deceiving the consumer). But here is my issue: I contacted my insurance company (Choice Home Warranty - bad choice that is) about a refrigerator problem and explained that the problem was that the refrigerator shutdown from time to time and then after a while it comes back up.

    When the technician from The Appliance Squad arrived the refrigerator was up. I told the tech that while refrigerator was working now it shuts down at times, can he diagnose and see what can be done. The tech comes back and tells me the same thing I told him "it's working now". Then he asked me to pay him $85. No service, no diagnostic other than it may be the circuit board. I would have been happy to pay the money if he would have done some troubleshooting and told me what the problem was and next steps, but that did happened. The company has the nerve to bill via the insurance company. I then proceeded to call Choice Home Warranty. The call got hung up twice and finally when I got to Christian "The Resolution Manager", rather than try resolve the issue he argued with me and spoke to me in condescending manner. I cancelled my policy - worst home warranty insurance company and customer service ever.

    It took half a day for Choice to come up with an appointment for my sewer blockage. And that was for 4 days later. This is unacceptable. I called vendor direct and had an appointment for the same day. I would suggest Choice rate the problems and respond to them accordingly. Example: A microwave problem is a no hurry situation. A blocked sewer is an immediate problem. A blocked sewer means no use of toilet, no showers, washing dishes, washing clothes and anything else that requires use of water. Prioritize!!!!

    I must first say the repairman was ok. He did the job. That said, it was not a difficult fix nor did it involve any major repair, so for the apprx 30 mins he was here there isn't much to pass judgement on. Nor am I sure that I got much savings out of this. The same thing happened the first time I used my warranty. The fix was really small but what I really needed doing was not covered. So I save ZERO for 2 attempts to make this profitable for me. Savings is a major reason for having a warranty. If that doesn't happen neither does one's incentive.

    I also stated before that these techs do not have marked vehicles. Had this guy not had a tshirt I would not have known who/what he was. That could be a serious risk if they are not legitimate providers. If I were a female I would have serious doubts about having them in the house if I was alone. Being a guy, I can defend myself. Choice seems to get these small fly-by-night providers - likely because they charge YOU less than a more reputable/well known provider - which is why I can't call someone of MY choice to do the work. This is going to be a detriment when the renewal comes up if it's not resolved.

    I filed a claim and a technician was assigned; they never showed up. I called choice advising of this disservice and no consolation was offered for my inconvenience. The company hired never called either to apologize for the inconvenience. I expected Choice to have better customer service since the representative who signed me up was excellent. The second technician that came out was excellent and made sure I understood everything that was going on etc. Being that choice doesn't verify the state of the home before coverage it is upsetting that my claim was denied for coverage due to what is to be ASSUMED a preexisting matter.     We are having issues with our HVAC unit. One of YOUR technicians was hired to check it out. He came and found all kinds of serious issues with it and said with the age of it that it needs to be replaced. He wrote up his work order and you want him to fix it not replace it. If it was fixable we wouldn't have an issue with having it fixed, but that is not the case with this. Seems like you are trying to get out of it cheap which does not help us out at all. Hate having to fight with insurance companies. :(
