    My first time doing a home warranty. I purchased for my dying brother so he could have peace of mind. Washer broke month into warranty. Which I paid for 3 years upfront. It said I’d have a response in 24-48 hours. I spent almost 2 months waiting for a repair person. Their response was for me to find someone and they would reimburse me. If I had that kind of time and living out of state I wouldn’t need to buy their product. No one I talked to was kind or had any urgency. Once they got someone, the tech was responsive. We will see how repair goes.

    Unit started losing to freeze and chill on Sat 1/15. Placed service request on 1/17. Advised serviceman was not available. Checked status several times online and via phone. Finally had to handle issue myself. I rec'd an e-mail on the afternoon of Thursday 1/21 advising that a serviceman would be at my home that evening. 5 days to wait for help is far too long when you're in need of a refrigerator. So much for the purpose of having a service agreement with Choice!!

    In regard to my experience, I am becoming less likely to recommend use of your services. Your tendency is to look as hard as possible to find a way to deny a claim. You denied me saying that this wasn’t wear and tear. In actuality, the tech told us this was wear and tear, and though not the norm, it happens reasonably often. You are in business to protect our home, but you don’t really want to do it. We never once placed metal in the microwave, which would be the only way this could happen if it wasn’t wear and tear. The arcing started very recently, and obvious damage was only shortly before we made our claim.

    Filed a claim 10/16/20 for a leaking roof under my "limited roof repair" coverage. There were 4 different tech companies scheduled to view the damaged. They never showed or contacted me (a waste of my time around 25 hrs). 5th tech did show 2 days earlier than sched time by CHW. Claim was DENIED after the 4 months.. It seems the "limited roof" portion of the clause is EXTREMELY LIMITED. Not worth the extra money when they are selling you the contract.

    Choice Home Warranty has not backed down from their obligation to me. We had a bump in the road when my refrigerator went out and the money they provided for it was enough to help me upgrade my refrigerator. I was curious to see how other home warranty plans worked so I took out a second home warranty plan out and waited to see what might happen. Then my toilet seal broke and I had water running out of the bottom of the toilet. I thought “here is my chance to see what another warranty company would do. I called this other company and they sent a guy out. He looked at my toilet, then went into my crawl space. His news was grim. He said a piece of pipe needed replaced in my crawl. I asked how much it would cost. He gave me the price of $1,050. I was shocked. The other company denied the claim saying it was outside the living space. Not the house, but the living space.

    I called Choice at this point, hoping for a better outcome. The plumber was very clean and friendly. I explained what happened with the other company. He pulled my toilet and replaced the wax ring, which solved the problem. Then I asked him for his opinion on the pipes in the crawl. He went into the crawl and came back to tell me that the pipe was fine. It just needed a couple of brackets to hold the pipe up and explained to my roommate how to do it.

    The other company cost $60 co-pay and the 6 months I paid for 2 services but was a well earned training tool for me. I had been upset with Choice over my refrigerator but see they were being fair. The person over my choice account on my refrigerator had put me off but this last issue showed me that they were honest and fair. I won’t be leaving Choice Home warranty now. This experience was an eye opener and was well worth the money I spent to compare to another company. I have had three different companies as a home warranty and from the three, Choice home warranty is the best for the money and the companies they send are reliable and honest. Thank you Choice!

    Apparently nothing is covered for your garage door. Only the opener motor is covered. They sent someone out and said the springs in the door have snapped and needed replaced.     I am very disappointed in regards to this order. You denied the claim when the problem for the leakage because the handle wasn't on. The original faucet handle (turn water on or off) broke and I went to Home Depot to get a replacement and that did not stop the leakage. The technician had to replace the whole inner workings and cost me another $175.00 plus the $45.00 service fee. Every time I call about a repair, you denied the claim. So you can cancel my policy and return to me the amount of coverage not used.

    My husband and I have been with American Home Shield for 10 years. We had them to come out and do a repair multiple times on an appliance and it remains leaking water into the floor.     The technician that was sent was TOP Notch! Very qualified, polite, and arrived within the time window, and was able to diagnose the problem. Choice Home Warranty Claims administration gets "0" stars. I submitted one claim that had three items on the claim. When the Tech arrived, he said he was only authorized to do one claim. I showed him that 3 items were on the claim form, but he said he was only authorized to do one item, and that successive appointments would be required for each of the 2 additional items. Choice Home Warranty was not available by phone to correct the problem.

    I have had 2 items handled on 2 separate service calls and the third is still outstanding for a third service call. All should have been handled on one service call. It took 4 hours on one of the calls to get authorization from Choice Home Warranty. I have had to take one day off from work for each item to wait on the technician.     The company that Choice sent out to take care of my heat pump was great, however Choice would not allow them to replace a part that needed to be replaced. My defrost control board is only partially working and needs to be replaced but since it’s not totally broke Choice would not let the technician fix it, only the sensor. Now when the board does go out in a month or so we will again be stuck with another service charge when it should have been taken care of in the first place. That means more time off of work to be home. I will be looking for another home warranty company. Choice is shady. By the way, this is not the first time I’ve had a problem with them not wanting to fix something.

    Updated on 07/17/2021: After I filed my claim and an appointment was set up with a technician for my repair, I could not make contact with the technician to verify that he was indeed coming to fix my problem. After leaving repeated messages and texts with him to contact me, he would not respond. When I tried to contact CHW Customer Service I had problems getting them on the phone. I held for quite awhile and then called back to be placed in the queue for a callback from them. After almost 2 hours waiting, I called them back and finally got to talk to an agent. She tried to contact the technician for me and also had no luck. Then she said if he didn't show up by the appointed time window they would reassign the claim to another technician, but that it would start the claim process all over again and I would probably have to wait another few days for repair. This is not what you want to hear when you have a plumbing stoppage and you had already waited 3 days!!!

    Luckily, the technician came during the allotted time frame and unstopped the plumbing, but he did not know why my calls and texts were never returned because he was just a technician sent out for the repair and did not own the company. My repair was completed to my satisfaction, but I could have done without all the drama trying to communicate with the technician and CHW Customer Service. A simple phone call from the technician to confirm that someone was coming would have minimized all the stress and drama for me!

    Do you have $500 - $550 to throw away?! If so, Choice Home Warranty is the Home Warranty for you! I paid the entire annual warranty amount to cover my home when I signed up for this warranty. I submitted a claim for a refrigerator repair on November 2, 2020. I’M STILL WAITING ON THE REPAIRS TO BE COMPLETED. That’s right – today is January 20, 2021 – nearly four months later and my refrigerator still needs new hinges and a new seal. Choice sent a repairman on November 8, 2020. Their repairman did nothing but order parts that apparently still are not available. If necessary repairs are not actually done, what exactly did my $550 pay for????

    After nearly FOUR MONTHS, they could have hired someone to CUSTOM MAKE a seal and hinges for this refrigerator and sent those custom-made parts via the SLOWEST PONY EXPRESS and it would have been faster than the service I’ve gotten from this sorry excuse of a company. They advertise that if they can’t repair your systems or appliances, they will replace them. I’ve contacted them several times and I haven’t even been able to speak with a manager about this serious customer service failure. I’ve been told “A manager is only going to tell you that you have to wait.” Really???? They have flatly refused to replace the refrigerator, which is supposedly their policy and have failed miserably to complete the repairs.

    I would strongly advise anyone considering a Choice Home Warranty to look elsewhere. They do not live up to their promise to “Repair or Replace.” Their motto should be “Rob me and Do Absolutely Nothing!” You will be out of money and left with appliances and systems still needing repairs. Don’t throw your money away with this useless home warranty! I spoke with Choice Home Warranty today and once again I was told they are still waiting on parts. This is completely unacceptable. I paid good money and have gotten nothing in return.

    Was not impressed on our first claim with CHW. First we called because both of our heating/cooling units went down the same day, so I called in for repairs on both units. The representative I talked to said we would need two claim numbers, one for each unit with only one service call deductible. When the technician arrived for maintenance work, only one work claim number had been transmitted to the repair company. I called CHW, and the problem was resolved. When he returned the next day with repair parts, he said there would be an additional service call on the second work order. I again had to call a CHW service representative to get the co-pay taken off the second repair bill. Everything was resolved in a satisfactory manner, however the clerical side of your system, I’m not impressed with so far.

    I'm not surprised to see an avg of one star and over 3,000 complaints for Choice on BBB/Yelp. I put in a couple of claims recently, and found they are no longer accepting claims over the phone. So I couldn't talk to a person. Then the first technician they assigned for my plumbing issue never showed up. When I called him on the day and at the time he was scheduled for he was surprised to hear from me. He said he didn't know he had the assignment. He promised to come the next day but never did.

    After that Choice rejected both my claims and as mentioned above, are not taking calls so that I can discuss these as I do object to their reasons for denying the claims. For one instance I finally did get a call from a case manager, which I'm still working through, but for the other objection I have only received a cryptic email restating the original finding, and not addressing my objection. I highly recommend looking for a different company for your home insurance needs. Victor **

    Choice is terrible. I’ve had several problems with them.

    1. I had a simple roof issue. They sent 3 companies that didn’t correctly find the problem. I paid each $45 and still had a leak. The actual problem was the flashing. The repairman I hired found the problem quickly, repaired the roof and fix the damaged wall inside all for less than $200.

    2. My AC unit went out. They didn’t replace it. They only gave me $1500. They place a limit on what they pay for the overall account. But they don’t tell you that.

    When my water heater quit they were absolutely no help. Tell him that that particular part of the water heater wasn't covered. I had to use my own funds to pay for the water heater. Fortunately it was that beginning of the pandemic and I had to use funds from the stimulus to pay for the water heater. I went with Choice because the monthly payment was so low and I find out why it's so low. I would not recommend Choice Home Warranty to anyone.

    I have not got good service from CHW contractors for some time except this one. The Furnace stopped working all of sudden on Saturday. The HVAC tech from Bear Service LLC was punctual, professional and problem-solving. He arrived Monday morning and got it fixed within 30 min.     I submitted my claim on 1/14/21. Did not hear back until 1/15 midday and tech arrived between 1-5 as promised. Tech told us that he needed a part. When we asked if he would be back on the weekend (as the temps are below freezing and unit is unusable), he said no - probably Monday. Appointment is now scheduled for 1/19 from 3-8 and just received word that tech is supposed to arrive at 5:15 today.

    My issue is that we have been without heat for over 5 days now. If I had scheduled this repair myself, it would have been fixed in no more than 2-3 days (as most businesses would have worked the weekend to replace the part). If repairs are going to take this long going forward (or this had been AC vs heat), I will not be renewing my contract. This is my first experience with my home warranty and I can't wait 5 days for repairs on essential items like heat, air, and electricity.

    Recent experience was alright. But previous experience replacing my dishwasher was awful!!! I received an email where the SUBJECT said that my dishwasher would be replaced by CHOICE. But the text said that CHOICE would send me a check for $280. After negotiations with CHOICE, they agreed to pay $400. Still impossible to replace any dishwasher for $400!!! That did not even cover the installation cost!!!! A dishwasher for $500 and installation fees of almost $600. The reason that I purchased CHOICE was to protect myself from major appliance repair/replacement costs. So I was very disappointed with the final result!     A little disappointed but not a lot. I guess the only thing I’m disappointed about was that I paid $70 basically to have a company come out and check out the stove, and then when they realized it wouldn’t work or they couldn’t fix it this company is sending me a check to replace my stove but, The check is going to be for $338. Take off the $69 And that means I’m getting my stove replacement check for $269.

    I’m aware that the $69 is and does not have anything to do with The replacement or repair costs involved. It is simply a separated fee to find out what’s going on but, even without that factored in $338 is not even close to enough for the cheapest new stove. And that might be where I misunderstood. I thought with the warranty if something broke down, it would either be fixed or it would be replaced with new appliances. The only thing that really concerns me now is if my air conditioner goes out, I’m concerned I’m not gonna get near enough to replace it and I am going to be having to cough up thousands and thousands of dollars That I was expecting the warranty service to pay for. On a positive note, this was very very good service from you guys and from the contractor that came out.
