    Happy with the work of technician Rod from Relied Services. Repaired my toilet and now all is working fine. The first plumber sent out from Simply Plumbing didn’t do anything but take my check and didn’t show up for the repair when scheduled even though I called them as well as CHW. Thankfully CHW set me up with Rod with Relied services. Appreciate that CHW is timely and get back to you promptly but should do job of vetting their vendors. The only negative is that you have to wait at least a week for the tech to come back and fix the problem rather than fixing immediately. Just like an HMO.

    Choice Home Warranty denied my refrigerator compressor claim using false and blurred photos, including one vent photo that wasn't even from my kitchen. I provided clear pictures proving my unit was clean and well-maintained, and even the technician noted a refrigerant leak, but CHW ignored all of it. Instead, they offered me $200, then $475 as "goodwill," rather than honoring the warranty I paid for. This company does not operate in good faith and I strongly advise avoiding them!

    I would give this company ZERO STARS if there was an option for it. Our paid in full, fixed-term policy was set to expire 8/12/2025. We received ONE email 7/24/2025 stating that our policy was expiring and if we did not auto renew, by calling or doing so online, then it would expire and all our repair costs would be our responsibility. GREAT, we don't want to renew because this company is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL AND IS THE BIGGEST SCAM. They harassed my husband with phone calls leading up to the 7/24/25 email, asking him if he would like to auto renew and he VERY CLEARLY told them NO I don't want it to renew, I want it canceled. Idk how many of these phone calls he took but there were at least 2 on 7/21/25 and 7/23/25 where he had "recorded" conversations with reps telling them NO and we want the plan cancelled.

    Well fast forward to today 9/11/25 and my husband finds 2 $48 charges on our statement for CHW. One for 8/11/25 (which was a day before our supposed expiration date of our policy) and one for today 9/11/25. So of course, we call the company asking why we have the charges when we our policy has "supposedly" expired. The so-called "manager" we talked to for half an hour, stated that per their policy guidelines that since "we didn't select a preference for auto renewal" they were not going to refund our $96.

    While on the phone, we accessed our CHW account online and NOWHERE does it have an option for "saved preferences" on auto renewal, NOR did we ever get an correspondence telling use that if we didn't "select a preference" then our policy would auto renew to a monthly plan. Which is a total lie, because on the CHW website under FAQ the very last questions asked about auto-renewal and it states that "Yes, the plan may be renewable.* In that event, you will be notified of the prevailing rate and terms of renewal." WHICH WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF TERMS FOR RENEWAL. So they basically renewed it for us, EVEN THOUGH we expressed our immense desire TO HAVE IT CANCELLED.

    I think they just completely ignored our request in actually cancelling the policy. Which, while on the phone with the "manager" I pulled up our account and saw that new contract on their for the monthly billing which we never agreed to, and now after completing the call and OFFICIALLY getting our policy cancelled, the fraudulent policy was removed from our account. Basically meaning, CHW removed their negligence so it couldn't be used against them. I should have screenshotted when the contract was listed on there but I was rather distracted by the outrageous phone call we were experiencing.

    Now, technically we have no proof that they added their our contract to our account, but PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. You will be out thousands of dollars, your claims likely won't get accepted, if they do it is NOT in a timely manner, and CHW just says oh you have to take our word for it, because when we asked them to show us the "numerous" emails they sent regarding the auto renewal they said they couldn't share that information which if they had already sent it to us in the first place they should be able to send it again. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM, DO NOT USE THEM.

    I've been with this company for three years now, and the service gets worse and worse. Their phone system leaves a lot to be desired. I've called four times, and they hang up each time.     The technician who came here, evaluated the problem correctly and reported to CHW for approval. He said I need to have the damper changed and also the thermostat. I waited for this problem to be solved since I first reported in the beginning of the cooling need with AC, but CHW did not send any technician. There was an attempt to send Sears tech but their appointment were always on Wednesdays when I have a very busy schedule. CHW promised to set up with another service provider, but it never happened. Finally a new appointment was set, the technician was came and was great I paid $60. But CHW is not willing to repair it. So I am disappointed. I have hardly placed any claims in a long time. I can't believe my claim did not get approved. Even last time 2 years ago I spent $800 to fix the water leak problem, because CHW did not want to approve it. So why should I renew it again?

    The Plumber who was assigned to look into my leak was very professional and if I have any additional issues in the future, I'd definitely ask for him. He set up a time within 24 hours of the claim and arrived within the time frame provided. He even called to let me know when he was 10 minutes out.     Filed a claim on 8/7/25 and it’s been a nightmare ever since. The first contractor didn’t fix the ice maker, and after that we had two contractors plus eight no-show appointments. Calls to the claims line go unanswered, and the website chat is just an AI bot that provides no real help. After weeks of trying, we still don’t have a solution.     My reluctance to recommend Choice is based on two past experiences:

    1) The replacement of my clothes washing machine. I was awarded $345, which was near half of the cost. Lowe's did not have any machine that inexpensive. The cheapest machine on the floor was $525. When I complained, your agent was rude and stated I should have spoken earlier, which was not possible as I did not know anything until I received the check. The agent said I had no recourse.

    2) The replacement of my garbage disposal unit. It took several weeks and a second technician was called to complete the job. He replaced my name-brand unit with a cheap substandard one. I wouldn't be surprised if he charged Choice for a better unit.

    The washing machine replacement tainted your reputation.

    Still waiting on the refrigerator repair to approved. The technicians that came to diagnose the microwave problem were top-notch.     Our first claim with Choice Home Warranty was to repair my 32 Cu Ft Samsung French Door refrigerator which cost over $3200.00. After review of the technician repair report we received an email of congratulations, noting that they have decided to replace our refrigerator rather than do a repair. The email went on to state that they would be sending us check to pay for a new refrigerator that was consistent with the quality we were expecting and accustom to. The amount of the check was $810.00.

    The associate handling the claim suggested we purchase a smaller, closeout or dented model which they had researched and located in Augusta at an Open Box warehouse. After many discussions we learned they used the wrong reference and offered me an additional $210 which to date I have not received. They also continued to charge me after I had cancelled my policy. We received less than 50% of replacement value and disappointing customer service.

    Our condenser on the HVAC is 23 yrs old. I mentioned that to Jack our salesman, he said that would be no problem. CHW claim. #**. Claim denied. Due to recent damage and neglect. Damage was done by the Tech from True Comfort HVAC in Los Angeles, I live in Ventura. He needed to clean an area on the U-Bend of the coil to test for a leak that he found.     I have had two very poor interactions with CHOICE Home Warranty on home appliance repair. The first was on a built in GE built in over the stove microwave/convection oven unit. CHOICE refused to acknowledge the unit was a microwave/convection oven model. They chose to replace the unit instead of repair even with choosing to the part readily available. They insisted to only compensating me for what they could purchase a built-in microwave only unit for.

    Additionally, they would not give me money, only would supply a coupon voucher for an amount that was about 80% of what a replacement GE microwave only would cost, and the voucher was for a big box store that did not carry the GE product. In order not to have to pay for modification of the cabinet a similar sized GE unit was required. Basically in the end I have just a microwave with no convection oven that cost me more that CHOICE supplied.

    The second interaction was on my central AC unit repair. First the AC repairman could not make the first appointment that was a week after filing the claim. The second appointment was 5 days later. At that appointment all he could do was verify it had no freon, he had to then get permission from CHOICE to do a leak check. A week or so later the repairman comes back to do the leak check, it was found that the inside coil for heat exchange is leaking and must be replaced.

    After a few more days (this is August in Houston Texas area) the replacement of the inside unit is approved with the caveat that the outside compressor unit must also be replaced for compatibility. CHOICE offered to purchase the outside unit at their reduced cost but the installation cost to me was estimated to be just under $5000, total cost to me with the outside unit and installation being just about $6900. I repeated trying to get manufacture and model numbers for what CHOICE would supply with no information be provided. CHOICE indicated that what would be supplied would meet the specifications provided by the repairman.

    Since I am paying the majority of the cost and will have the unit for years, I requested manufacture and model numbers prior to agreeing, CHOICE refused to supply such information. I did obtain a detailed summary of what the repair man's installation would involve. I then obtained bids to totally replace my central AC unit including the propane heating unit and all associated fans drains pans, electrical work and all outside unit parts and installation. I found I could get everything, but the actual ductwork replaced with a highly rated brand for about $1500 to $2000 more and have local installation and repair support. I also did research and found that the replacement part was available as was the older freon my unit used, basically I found no reason but cheaper for CHOICE to replace the unit than repair it but making it much more expensive for me.

    Basically, with the US Government banning types of freon and the manufacturing and importing of AC units that use the freon, CHOICE is giving a reason to try and force a total system replacement with most of the cost on the owner instead of a more costly to CHOICE option of replacement. Note I found no legal reason CHOICE could not simply replace the leaking part. In the end I opted to do the total replacement at my cost so I had a highly rated AC unit and local support instead of the cheapest unit CHOICE could find and no local support. On a final note we have found that most repair is not done by a local repair service company. In general service had come from more that 70 miles away when Katy Texas is 25 miles away with many repair service companies.

    Choice Home Warranty is a scam. They will find reasons not to cover the claim. I had an a/c claim no cooling, and they denied the claim after spending 35.00 to have a technician send them photos of rust in the evaporator frame, all units will rust here even after a month of being new due to the water submerging the frame. A second claim was denied after paying a technician 35.00 dollars to photograph the evaporator coil which had a light coat of dust on the fins. They claimed I never changed the filter, and I change the filter every month, the dust was not stopping airflow at all.

    The third time my claim was denied was my hot water heater quit working. They claimed that because the unit was outside of the house, though protected by a weather proof enclosure, they denied the claim after the 35.00 dollar technician again sent them a photo. So over three years I was out 100.00 dollars, plus the cost of the warranty and nothing was ever repaired, just denied coverage--a total scam rip-off beware!

    Service providers who will work with Choice are difficult to come by, and when they find one to address your problem the person complains about Choice Home Warranty - they don't get paid promptly or something. That's why Choice doesn't have enough service providers. They leave. It was a problem when I lived in another state, large city, and it was a problem when I moved here, small city. Frequently they tell you to hire and pay someone and they'll reimburse you, but those checks are always VERY VERY SMALL, completely insufficient, like $200 to REPLACE a relatively new dishwasher the service provider couldn't fix onsite, and the checks come after a month or longer.

    Before I canceled with them I needed someone to fix my garage door opener. He took the $75 service fee, said he needed to order a part, then never came back. Neither I nor Choice could reach him. Choice would not reimburse me for that service fee, nor could they find another service provider to send to me. They told me to hire my own. When I did, the guy found that the track was bent, and just straightened it out. He didn't need a part, he just fixed it. Choice also wouldn't reimburse me for any part of the $200 I paid that guy because a bent track "isn't covered." So they hire a guy who doesn't know his job and misdiagnoses the problem then takes off, and Choice won't reimburse me for any of it. This is just my final experience with them. I have more stories I won't go into. There is no way they score a 9.8 ranking. I would suggest that is false advertising.

    I was hoping this warranty company would be good. It was not. It is the worst. My toilet was leaking into the basement. I don't mean just a trickle, it was flooding. The contractor did come promptly but that is where it ends. He replaced the wax ring. $75 and he did not check anything out. Just replaced the wax ring. They also broke 2 of my bathroom decor. He explained that my problem was the whole pipe where the flange went into the sewer needed to be replaced. Of course the warranty wouldn't cover that. Gave me an estimate of $645 but said my husband could do it (we are 69 years old). He said it would take him an hour to do but he couldn't get to it for 2 days. Then he also said that was the price before materials. So basically he was going to charge $645 an hour just for the labor.

    Anyway, the issue was not the flange or the wax ring. It was clogged at the angle where the pipe went into the sewer. The contractor did not even check that. I purchased a camera to go through the pipes and my husband and grandson got it unclogged. I tried and tried to get someone at the warranty company to understand that the contractor did not fix my issue but they said I would have to file another claim and pay another $75. You can't get anyone on the phone that knows anything. Just messages that it is not covered. They were supposed to have a "manager" call me but never heard back from them. I am now trying to cancel but I have to wait for the "cancelling manger" to call me. Thanks but no thanks to this warranty!!!!

    Scam. I purchased the pool and spa package. I had a catastrophic failure of the spa heater that was only 1.5 years old. It had just exceeded it manufacturers 1 year warranty. I had it professionally installed for $4,500, and by some fluke it started leaking. Choice Home Warranty sent a tech to diagnose it. The tech was humming to himself, he took the heater apart and left the parts all over my shed. My husband suspected he was on drugs. The tech never put it back together. Then Choice denied the claim because the heater was too new and the failure was not the result of wear and tear.

    I explained that I had several new appliances, and was concerned that they will not cover those. The snarky and snide appeals agent said it's the homeowners responsibility to get extended warranties on new appliances because Choice does not cover new appliances. This is a warning to all new home owners with new appliances that Choice won't help you if your new stuff fails.

    The technician that came out was knowledgeable and very personable. Explain everything to me in a way that made me understand. Unfortunately, the company Choice was to deny our claim. They said for normal wear and tear. I don't see how that can be the case when the previous technician that came out forgot to rehook wires and did not troubleshoot the problem. We have a burnt Outlet in our bathroom. This technician was the second one to come out with the first technician coming out twice and just replacing the outlet twice.

    The last technician is name I believe is Corey, took the time to troubleshoot the wires to see there was a problem on the line and also replace the outlet, show me that the ground wire had not been rehooked up.     Choice Home Warranty - we had a very bad experience with them. The claim manager ladies are very rude. They are very impatient to listen to the issue we have. We really had a concern with our refrigerator where there is frosting at the back of the refrigerator and rust is formed out of it which is damaging the wall too as in the picture. They assigned a technician and provided a report as attached for which choice home warranty has mentioned that they had nothing to do with it and are very rude saying we will either offer you $275 or "just hang up the call" as there is nothing to do.     We went with Choice Warranty to cover our major appliances in the house over a year ago. If anyone ever asked me if it was worth it, I would emphatically say NO. The first experience was when the thermal expansion tank attached to the top of the water heater sprung a leak. Mind you when we purchased our last hot water heater, we were told it was mandatory to have this installed with the hot water heater. "Expansion tanks help prevent pressure spikes and leaks by absorbing excess pressure that can get built up within a water heater. When water is heated, it expands, therefore increasing the pressure inside the tank. If you have a Pressure Regulator or a Backflow Preventer, a Thermal Expansion Tank is required by code."

    Since it was mandatory, one would think it would have been covered as part of the hot water heater. It was not. Choice said because it was not the water heater itself, it was not covered. I spent $65 for someone to come out and look at it for less than 5 minutes only to find out a day or so later that they would not cover it. We ended up buying a new expansion tank from Home Depot and getting a handy man to install it within one day. It would have saved us 3 days if we skipped calling the warranty company to come out and look at it.

    A few weeks ago, we had a major appliance that went out. My washing machine. We went through the insurance to get someone to come out and take a look at it. It took a week to get a repair person to come out. That person was here for less than 5 min and said he knew what the issue was and would order the part. He said his company will with Choice on getting it approved. We waited and waited to hear back on if it was covered. We sent emails through the website. Nothing. We got an email from the service company that came out saying the part was in. We told him we still had not heard back from our warranty department to make sure they would cover it. Another day goes by, nothing. We then called asking for someone to tell us what the heck was going on.

    Finally, someone contacted us and said yes it was covered. It took another day for the repairman to come out only to find out as he was pulling my machine apart that he needed several more parts to fix it. The kicker was it was going to take another couple of weeks to get those parts in to fix it. We called Choice back to update them on what the repair man said and to see if there was something more that could be done. That was on Thursday. The response we got back was that we would hear back within 48 to 72 hours. Here we are going on week three, no washing machine and no idea when it will get fixed. With everything we've been through you'd think they would put a higher priority on getting back to us. Nothing yet... Bottom line, if someone were to ask my opinion on if it was worth getting a home warranty with Choice, I'd say DON'T. The lack of communication and sense of priority is not worth the trouble and frustration.

    I have an issue that was reported on 7/27/25. I thought it was a plumbing issue, paid the service fee, but the plumber they sent said it was an appliance issue. Paid the service fee, appliance tech replaced a blower and said waterline to appliance was the problem. Plumber doesn’t show for a Monday and then no again on a Friday appointment, so it gets reassigned. Plumber replaces the line, but I still have a water problem. Plumber comes back and says dispenser line to fridge is leaking, makes video.

    CHW reopen appliance claim and had to argue that I shouldn’t have to pay another fee because problem was never repaired and is ongoing, not new. Appliance appointment was made for 9/5/25 3-5 pm. I called the appliance company to verify I’m on the schedule at 2:50. She assured me they are coming between 3-8. No show. Call CHW and they want to reassign. At this point, it doesn’t seem like any of their contractors want to work. Offered to allow me to get my own tech. However, the catch is that they have to diagnose the problem, then submit to CHW before they will authorize reimbursement. I don’t trust them at this point and feel like they would deny the charges for anyone that I select. Still waiting for repair 6 weeks later. 😔

    ON Sep 1 I file a claim because my bathroom faucet was leaking and also water valve got broke. They send me a technician next day. Technician arrived. He told me he only fix the water valve and Faucet is not a cover. He told me if I want to change the faucet he will charge $75.00 extra labor plus the parts from home depot $79.00, I pay the money to fix the faucet, CHW company is totally scam.     I am not that happy with Choice Home Warranty with the it service time to get a contractor out to do repairs. I made the call for my A/C to be repair on 8/26/2025 and was not complete until 9/4/2025. That are 10 days with A/C in the summer month in Houston, Texas with temperatures in the high 90's. It was 3 days before the contractor came out to check out the unit for the repair and the contractor said that CHW will have to my the approve for the repair work to fix unit and they would have order fan motor after getting it approve from CHW. Had to call CHW on 9/2/2025. Had CHW send The Contractor an approver to fix my A/C unit. The was done on 9/4/2025. I think that was too long. I would not recommend Choice Home Warranty to anyone knowing how long it take for service repair. This was not my first experience waiting service from CHW.

    Paid $2300 for a 5 yr warranty with Choice, big mistake! Contract states 30 days, get full money back if I cancel minus repairs, or prorated if I paid for 5 yrs. Well, Choice stated they won't honor the contract and won't paid me back the prorated amount for the four years left. Choice will not give you a copy of tech repair order, or in the four times they were here, Choice give me cash back, no repairs. Choice said couldn't find the thermostat for a $7000 range, yet I found part for $249, Choice said they couldn't fix the dishwasher, gave me a Lowes gift card that didn't compare to the cost of the dishwasher, also in Choice contract, will replace with a comparable product.

    Now, the air conditioner went out, been without air in 90 degrees for a month, they not only will not fix, nor will they paid anything, stating it was maintenance, the wires came loose. Choice has an excuse for everything and you have no way to fight them. I even contact the CEO. no response. Wish I would've went month-month, now I'm out. I have 4 yrs left, and can't trust them to come out. I pay $75.00 each time they come out, so I'm losing for I don't know if they will cover it or not, can't get the $75 back. It's a guessing game!!

    Choice Contract is crap, their case manager state it doesn't matter. I recorded all their calls, I will fill with the BBB, and small claims court, for I have the copy of the tech repair bill to them from tech, he also said it's bull that they won't repair. So please be careful with choice, you'll be wasting your money, and get a headache too, for it's not fun sitting on the phone with them and no return calls. If you do find a different home Warranty Company, go month to month, no contracts.

    I have used my home warranty insurance twice for my heat pump. My AC wasn’t working. The technicians came from Reading, PA which is 2-1/2 hours away. After four trips here, my AC finally worked after being 4 summer months without it! They disconnected my thermostat and installed an old used one directly on the heat pump. They were coming back to change it, but I was informed that I had to submit a new claim. So another $100 and the new technician came from Corning, NY, an hour and a half away. On this occasion Two of my AC thermostats lost calibration, and their technician—after collecting his fee—confirmed they weren’t working but offered no solution.     My experience with CHW overall is a 3. It would be a lot less without the help from my the sales rep through which I bought my policy from. Several delays in getting someone scheduled due to the unit being on the roof was part of the issue and then me having to initiate the option to hire my own tech which turned out to be far cheaper in the long run.     Claim 1: garage door repair went well, paid the $85, very nice contractor.
    Claim 2: pool heater not staying on. They did not have a contractor asked me to find one. Found one and he did the repair without my first getting authorization. Total cost was $475, was able to get $200 towards cost.
    Claim 3: Bosch dishwasher control board is shot. Offered $536 gift card to Lowe’s to replace the $2000 dishwasher.

    Claim 4: Ceiling fan motor went, replaced with $274.99 fan and got $70 towards it.

    Called to cancel and was surprised they deducted a cancellation fee, 4 months service contract fee, and cost of all claim repairs totaling $1094. After buying a 42 month plan at $1995, I only received $629 back. I am so dissatisfied with Choice. I went with them because of their rating. The salesperson did a good job convincing me to go with the 42 month contract knowing I was very concerned about spending $1995. He assured me I could cancel anytime and never told me all the deductions I would incur. Have you ever heard of canceling an insurance policy and them charging you for all the claims:expenses they paid on your behalf? Never. This is so unbelievable I can not believe they can mislead people this way and stay in business.

    A few months after purchasing a home warranty from “Choice Home Warranty” Our dishwasher was not draining like it should and it was leaking water out the door seal. I immediately thought oh good, I’m glad we purchased this warranty. That thought was short lived. Problem #1 The technician they were going to send out was a joke. He was a no show twice and when I called him to ask when he was coming he got very angry at me because he in the middle of carrying a heavy air conditioner and how dare I call him to bother him. He started cussing and yelling at me because I couldn’t understand what he was saying. I just hung up. I immediately called the customer service to report him and they said they could send someone else.

    Problem #2. At this point I’m tired of being without a dishwasher, so I mentioned to the case agent what the problem was with the dishwasher and she quickly said, well we don’t cover that. What??? They don’t cover a broken door seal and couldn’t guarantee the pump would be covered either because she said, it could be related to the door seal. How stupid is that !? But they would let me know for sure after I pay $75 for another technician to eventually come out to look at it.

    I’m not going to wait around once again for a technician to finally come, pay him $75 just to say they won’t cover it. Since they already told me they won’t cover the seal on the door what’s the point then. We just went ahead and bought a new dishwasher. This company is a rip off!! They don’t like to cover claims and they are coached to find all kind of excuses on why they won’t!! Do research on all the bad reviews with Choice Home Warranty online and then find an another home warranty company that’s trustworthy and reliable. Not these guys!
