    We were very excited about our new coverage with a home warranty policy - that is until we actually needed it. Our AC stopped working so we naturally called to have someone come out to look at it. The technician they sent was prompt the first time, gladly took our $60 payment, said it was the thermostat, left, and never came back to fix it. We finally ended up having to call Choice to let them know what happened - so they sent another technician out to us, who diagnoses a completely different problem and claimed it was broken by the winter storm....although the original claim was placed WELL before the winter storm occurring (fishy, right? yeah, we thought so too). So then we were told that it would not be covered because it broke during a storm, not wear and tear.

    Once we educated our case manager on the timeline of when we FIRST contacted them about the broken AC, she THEN proceeded to explain that they would not cover it because it was a valve that went out - apparently they don't cover valves (?). So we then requested to please have a third technician from a different company (because the first two were clearly not great) to which our request was denied. Considering we paid about $600 for this coverage, we were very dissatisfied with the approach this company took to their customer service. They at the very least should have agreed to send a third technician out for evaluation of the AC. So here we are, $660 in the hole, and our AC is still broken. Regret buying this policy in the first place.

Then I had to call you back to check on the status of my claim just to be told that the water heater was not covered.     You couldn't get a tech. to come to our house, because they know of all the hoops you make everyone jump through. I got one on my own according to your rep, but he doesn't want to deal with you. He gave me the part numbers and price of them, plus his time. It came to$685. You won't let me as a home owner fill out your paperwork, but you can't provide me one that will.     I have made 2 request for service. I wrote in the details heating in 1 room isn't running properly and the tech said what was needed which was a unit but they haven't said anything about getting heat there. I would think they would've sent a ductwork guy out or replaced the current unit as it's not pushing out enough hot-air to warm all needed areas.

    After calling for a plumber for the first time, and the second time calling for service, I have to say that Choice Home Warranty doesn't have any communication with their departments. It took you guys almost 5 hours for me to get an email telling me that my claim was approved but that I had gone over my limit. I didn't know I had a limit, which was of $500. It took 4 calls to Choice before anyone could tell me that I needed to pay $45 extra. What should have been done in the morning, the tech had left to take care of another job and came back to my home at 5:30 pm and didn't leave until 9:30 pm. I spent one whole day waiting for my sink to be fixed, and it took all day. The last customer service rep that I talked to, she was so rude. Not renewing my contract with Choice.

    Updated on 03/15/2021: Technicians came during the promised window, were courteous and quickly determined the problem was a failed magnetron. There was some confusion as to whether the part should be covered by a manufacturer warranty or not. Ultimately, I was told Choice would need to determine whether it would be repaired or replaced, and that someone would be in touch. Now one week without a working microwave, and no idea how long it will be down.

    Original Review: The day I filed a claim concerning my built-in microwave no longer heating food, I received an automated phone call with an appointment for the following Saturday (it's Tuesday). Would have rather received a live person inquiring when the best time to schedule an appointment would be, but still very quick turnaround.     The technician that came to my house to look at the washer was fine. He sent the information to you for repair. This is when the experience went wrong. Choice decided not to repair but replace. "Replacement" in my case was an offer for cash payout, that in no way held any reality for an actual replacement. Tell me the last time anyone could buy a washer, with the options mine had, for $383? When I rejected the offer and spoke with the assigned case manager, she explained that you base on average wholesale price. NOWHERE IS THAT STATED IN THE CONTRACT! Nowhere does it say you are using wholesale.

    When I asked about how you came to the wholesale price, I was told it was "proprietary." So no transparency on how you came up with $383 measly dollars to replace a washing machine. Then I asked if I could order the machine through you so I could pay $383, I was told I could not have access to anything like that. So I have a home warranty I paid over $2000 for, a broken washer you are not willing to fix or replace, and a pauper $383 to replace my washer. I even offer to send three pricing sheets on a like kind washer to demonstrate I could not come close to paying $383. I even asked you to review my claim or give me an opportunity for a dispute to be filed, but no.

    We lowly people, who are paying your bills, are not worthy to have a conversation with. I am ordering a new washer today. Just so you know, I am having to pay $700 over what you offered. I will leave all the one star reviews I can, I will complain to the VDAC office in Virginia, the BBB, and anyone else I can! And I've already contacted my real estate agent so she will not send anyone else your way. Why advertise something, you never have the slightest intension of fulfilling. When we as clients are offered the ability to order wholesale, then I would feel we are on a level playing field, until then you people are just scum.

    We wish the replacement support and pricing was better. It's hard to be a new home owner (less than 6 months in a house) and find out you have to replace the microwave.     I placed a claim for pool pump. Recieved an email at 9:01pm informing me that CHW was processing claim. There was an option at the bottom of email to take a reimbursement. Nowhere did it say I only had 2 hours to make that decision. I only saw that email after midnight. At that time no one was available to discuss money nor anything. I wrote to CHW requesting further information and was told the option was no longer available. They set up an appointment with a company that had a low rating and that did irrigation and landscaping and sump pumps. Not a pool company.

    Spoke with a Representative and he cancelled that company and I now have an appointment with a pool company but was not given the option to choose reimbursement. I suggest that if reimbursement is offered and there is a time limit to choose that option the information should be in the first paragraph of the letter. Now I wait and hopefully pump will be fixed.

    I like that a contractor is found quickly and scheduled. Usually within 24 hours, as a customer, I feel confident that my issue will be resolved. However, I have learned that CHW makes appointments with contractors without checking for accurate availability of said contractor. They simply put the customer on the contractors calendar even though the availability is not really there. Then we get rescheduled because the contractor is overbooked.

    This most recent time I wasn’t made aware that there was a change. The contractor never showed, never called. There was no update on my CHW dashboard. The following day I called the contractor and he said the appointment had to be pushed back but I had no idea. Other times, contractors couldn’t be booked through CHW and I was offered to set up my own appointment and they will reimburse me via a reimbursement process.     Disappointed the claim review process leaves me holding the "pay more to prove you're right" bag. A quick photo would do the same thing for free. Despite not being able to reach the technician who came out to my home, my claim was deemed invalid and my version of the exchange in my home didn't really mean anything. So, the claim review process is just another way to deny my claim twice and for me to lose $65 during a difficult time. The cost to have another plumber validate my version of events is more than the actual cartridge replacement in my shower. So, disappointed and looking to switch back to my old company when my contract is up. They just came out and fixed whatever is covered, no pre-evaluation necessary

    I'm sure cancelling will only cause me to lose at least part of my contract cost with another lame cancellation fee. I chose Choice for the lower contract price/service fee and the addition of limited roof coverage. But, if covered items aren't really covered and I'm constantly shelling out $65 for no service then there's really no savings.

    Let me first start by saying that the technician came out was great. We had a washing machine that was purchased in 2014, we’ve never had an issue with it, and then of course it stopped working. Since we’ve used and have been customers of Choice Warranty for the last several years we contacted them immediately. Again I will tell you that we’ve never used, or had to use services but have gladly paid the bill every month. The technician arrived 24 hours after our initial call, this was fine. The technician informed us that the motor had to be replaced, this was fine. The technician informed us that he would have to be approved for the repairs before he could make the repairs, this was fine. The next day the technician contacted me and told me that he had been approved for the labor but not the material. That sense the appliance was under warranty, I would have to contact the manufacture to get The parts shipped to me direct. This makes zero sense.

    The technician informed me that he did have the parts needed to replace the motor, however this is the way, and the policy for choice home warranty. I contacted the manufacture, they told me it would take 7 to 10 business days for the motor to be shipped to my house, completely unacceptable. I told the technician that I couldn’t wait that long, I have three kids under the age of 10, and a wife, the laundry piles up pretty fast. The technician said that he can make the repairs however he would have to charge me $335 $335 for the parts, this was unbelievable.

    When I contacted choice home warranty I asked him why this technician couldn’t make these repairs and that they couldn’t deal directly with the manufacture, I mean come on it makes sense isn’t that why we pay for the warranty services anyway. What happens if my tankless hot water heater need to depart at midnight, when I have to wait 7 to 10 days for that part to arrive, or should your technicians be able to make the necessary repairs so that your customers are back up and running as soon as possible. If I was an automobile accident, and my car was totaled, my insurance company would put me in a rental car that day, what makes you think you guys should and follow the same standards?

    I really have no words to describe how frustrating this is been. I have been in the service industry and I’ve owned several businesses, all surrounding emergency trade services. All of my technicians carry the necessary parts, Or our supply house has the necessary parts to complete the repairs. My customers never suffer the consequences of waiting for parts to arrive from an extended warranty. Can anybody at this company reach out to me with some explanation? There’s a lot that needs to be explained.

    I have no complaints about Choice. From what I can see you did everything right. However my repairman not only did not schedule me for a return to repair when you authorized him, he refused my calls for an extended time, and when he did get here he did not have the part he needed. When he returned with the part he said it was finished. He had hooked things up so hot was cold and cold was hot. Also it is very hard now to adjust the water temperature to anything except extremely hot or cold. He was very polite and apologetic, and professional, perhaps he was just rattled, but this is the worst repair you have ever done for us.

    The technician was great. Very nice and on time. But Choice home warranty was terrible. They apparently guarantee getting back with the vendor in 10 minutes to confirm an invoice.
