    AC tech was very good. He thought the AC compressor was making too much noise and so did his supervisor. He suggested installing a AC compressor muffler. Choice said since the AC was functioning, this is not a repair that they covered. My neighbors certainly aren't going to be happy about this choice. They complain about the noise the compressor makes. Very disappointing.

    I have used Choice Home Warranty 2020 for and was very pleased. I am currently with Total protect and I wanted a monthly plan. The sales person wanted me to pay a one time yearly plan or a three-year plan broke up into four payments. I don’t have that kind of money right now. I need a monthly plan.     Like all home warranty companies, between a ton of emails and calls and then a too-long phone conversation, they are pushy and definitely do the hard sell, but very friendly while doing it. I don't know yet if it is a good product but the buying experience was annoying. Also my account rep, Malcolm, was going to email me with details and his contact information but has not done so. That part feels a little sketchy. If I don't get a confirmation email soon, I will find a way to cancel.

    I have used other home warranty providers in the past but chose Choice Home Warranty based on the review I read from ConsumerAffairs. I have to say after several claims: garbage disposal replacement, leaking shower/outside faucet, dishwasher/garbage disposal no power - the results: Claim 1 - replaced garbage disposal ok (but they may have damaged electrical?, Claim2 = denied, claimed pre-existing which it wasn't and don't do anything outside the house, Claim 3 - denied - sent inexperienced apprentice (without a voltmeter) who couldn't fix the problem and reported that we must have altered the wiring in the circuit (really? haven't touched electrical in home in 10yrs).

    So they go out of their way to deny claims (I guess that's their job/risk mgt), but doesn't count for sending unqualified tradesmen to do the job. Ok so maybe they do that because usually it's a minor thing and the apprentices can fix it but when it's not - don't just take their word for it and deny the claim after I wasted $85 for this rookie to come out. Give your members the benefit of the doubt and get a second opinion from a qualified professional.

    Folks, stay away from this company. They are all about selling the service and DO NOT HONOR THEIR OWN CONTRACT. I purchased their premier program, which promised REPLACEMENT OF MY APPLIANCE OR SYSTEM AND NOT SIMPLY REPAIR. I paid EXTRA for this plan as I wanted to make sure we were covered for anything that might go wrong in the home we had just purchased. Boy did they ever screw me over and they will screw you over too if you enter a contract with them. So, my first claim was on my washing machine. The tech came out right away and determined that the bearings in the machine had gone out and I would need to replace. OK, no worries, right? WRONG. The claim manager told me my machine was WORTH $550., but I had purchased the REPLACEMENT, NOT A CURRENT VALUE PROGRAM.

    The absolute lowest priced REPLACEMENT of my front load, large capacity (5cf) machine that I could find in my area was $780. AND THAT WAS ON SALE!!! Choice simply told me, "too bad" we found a machine in another state (wouldn't say where) that we could purchase for the $550. even when I googled that supplier, I couldn't find the pricing of $550. and this particular company wanted $300. to ship the $625.00 washer (LOWEST PRICED I COULD FIND ON THAT SITE) to me in Florida. So, my very first experience with them they lied to me and they cheated me as I ended up spending $300. Out of my pocket that they swore I would not have to do with the replacement policy.

    I eventually gave up arguing with their phone bots and bought a lesser machine in my area that cost me over $800. So, so much for their REPLACEMENT POLICY. OK, onto my current claim. Last week my central air conditioning system went out, completely. Again, the tech showed up promptly and analyzed my system, he indicated it had completely failed and would need to be replaced. He phoned CHOICE from my home and in less than 1 minute, they denied my claim in total stating that they "do not cover maintenance". Maintenance? How is a complete system failure "MAINTENANCE"?

    Usually, a maintenance item would be having the yearly check on your system done (which I have receipts proving these checks were done all 10 years), another maintenance item might be if the system freezes during high heat, the tech would come out and clear lines etc., to get your unit up and running again, or perhaps if your system was low on Freon a tech could provide maintenance by topping off the system with Freon. A complete failure is NOT MAINTENANCE, and stating that it is simple maintenance, WELL THAT is a lie. CHOICE knows this but they are so used to lying and cheating they just say whatever they need to say to deny your claim.

    Finally, I was so frustrated with their lies I asked to cancel my policy and to be prorated the balance of premium, we are 1.5 years into a 3 year contract. I was told that if I cancelled my policy they would only rebate me $78.00 of $750.00 I paid (total charged for 3 years was =/- $1500.) So, Mr. Victor Hakim, Owner and CEO, you and your company are nothing but liars, cheaters and thieves. I want you to know Mr. Hakim, I will forward a copy of this review along with a personalized letter and a copy of my CHOICE policy to the Commissioner of Insurance in Tallahassee Florida, it is my hope that you and your company are fined and banned from selling your illegitimate insurance in Florida once they investigate. To all you Peeps who do your due diligence, DO NOT ENTER INTO ANY AGREEMENT WITH THIS COMPANY. They are liars, and cheaters, thieves and of low character.

    Made multiple claims throughout my commitment with Choice. More than not claims were denied for exclusionary reasons. One being hot water heater that failed and the reason for it covering it is they don’t cover holding tanks.     Choice Home Warranty is in the process of negotiating how much they want to pay me to replace my washing machine. The first offer that they made is ridiculously low and wouldn't allow me to purchase anything close to what I have. When I spoke with the adjuster, they told me they just make an offer that they don't base it on the size or brand of the item I already have. Brand I can understand, but how can they not look at the size? I also have to wait 9 days to actually discuss this with them because that's their 1st open appointment. As of now, I'm giving the warranty a 2-star rating until I see how things turn out and based on a previous claim.

    I did previously have a water heater claim where they replace the water heater, however the additional amount charged by the plumber to put in an extra part (expansion tank that's $35 at Home Depot and Lowe's) added several hundred dollars more of payments that were NOT covered by the warranty and had to be put in. The plumber was allowed to charge whatever he wanted and he overcharged because there was no control by the warranty company.

    Our dishwasher stopped working and it was determined that it could not be fixed and Choice Home Warranty said they would replace it. I believe that the average person would take that to mean that we would get a new dishwasher. What we will be getting is a check for a new dishwasher. HERE COMES THE PROBLEM! The check is for pennies on the dollar for the cost of a new dishwasher. We researched new models, and found the cheapest one available, which still cost more than the amount we will receive from Home Warranty.

    They said that we did not read the contract when we purchased the warranty and they are correct. We made our purchase over the phone based on what we heard from their sales person. We had no contract to read in advance of the sale. Multiple times the sales person said "We will fix it or replace it". Never said anything about paying us only pennies on the dollar for replacement. Why can't Choice Home Warranty be UP FRONT in their sales pitch.

    3 claims - all with issues. Poor service and too many exclusions to the policy on what is covered. Contractors all have said they are one of the worst to deal with.

    Garage door - they dont cover hinges.
    Plumbing - we somebody out in 1 week.
    AC - charged out of pocket $380 on items not covered by policy.

    Septic - you have to purchase the add on items at the time of the contract and can not update policy until policy expires.

After the service tech stated that my system was out of coolant, there was no second visit to my home in order perform a leak check to determine the reason for the loss. I call the company in order to resolve the issue and was passed from person to person ending in no resolution of the issue. I cancelled the policy and stopped all payment to the facility as well as sent letters to the Better Business Bureau, NJ Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission, State Department of Banking and Insurance for predatory practices.
