    My air conditioner went out on a Saturday and I reported it the very same day. Choice set up service with a technician on Sunday for a Monday appointment. I confirmed with the technician Monday morning and he was at my home in the afternoon. The repair was swift and the tech was very knowledgeable. My only out of pocket expense was the service fee. The process was very smooth and what you expect from an insurance company.

    The technician was great, but once it was determined that the unit could not be repaired, customer service plunged from there. The initial offer for replacement was a joke. Like capacity and features were stated in the offer, and it was said for a single door refrigerator unit with similar capacity and system features. This was completely FALSE. My refrigerator is a high-end double door refrigerator/freezer unit with the capacity and many system features that would cost a minimum of $1,500 to replace, and it can not be replaced for the $730.00 that was offered through a Lowe’s gift card. I had to call numerous times over a week period after the technician sent in his diagnostic.

    I also sent in several emails and voice messages outlining the specifications of my unit to the assigned case manager Cheryl **, but I never received any replies to calls or emails. I included Make/Model/Serial Number, and all system capacity and features of my unit. I also spoke to numerous representatives that stated I would receive a call or reply from Cheryl ** concerning the replacement of my unit, but that never happened. I was then reassigned to another case manager to complete the replacement process.

    I was given a second and final offer for just over $900.00 to replace the unit. It was stated by the CHW representative that the amount was a wholesale cost of replacement and not the full cost a store would charge, and I would have to come out of pocket to cover any additional costs required to replace the unit. I was then told it would also take at least a month to receive a check, or it would take even longer to receive a Lowe’s gift card to use towards the replacement of my unit. I find this completely unsatisfactory. Once a determination has been made that a unit needs to be replaced, funds should be sent immediately so the customer can then replace the unit.

    Overall satisfaction on a scale from 0-10 would be (0). This warranty service seems to deceive the customer into believing that they will receive great customer service, and that CHW will repair/replace any covered item under the warranty agreement in a timely manner. This is FALSE. I will definitely NOT RECOMMEND CHW to anyone, nor will I renew my warranty once it has expired. Very Unsatisfied

    I submitted a claim after my A/C was not cooling properly along with a continuous run of the internal fan even though the system wouldn’t currently be running. Choice reach out to a local company for repair. The team that was provided met expectations and explained what had been occurring. We had cool air within a hour. Thank you!

    During the review, the repair team noticed a disconnect with the heat pad that needed to be replaced. Choices responsiveness during this time was quick via email. Unfortunately, Choice would not cover the full repair for the unit—- a valve also needed to be replaced so the unit was no longer leaking refrigerant. The valve was replace and 4lbs of refrigerant were added while the team was at my house— assuming this was going to be covered under warranty. Instead, I was blindsided by the costs. I’ve only been in the home for not even a year. My inspection came back clear on the unit... but Choice said it’s normal wear and tear so it’s not covered. The unit is pushing 10 years old. It should have been covered.

    I was very satisfied with the technician as it appeared that he was not only professional but very knowledgeable. However I was less satisfied with the grilling that he got when he called in to let Choice know that he needed to place an order for some parts for the refrigerator. It seemed as if they were trying to find reasons not to have to replace the parts. If the technician indicated there was a need to purchase parts there should not have been such a grilling from the customer service individual to rule out the need for the part. It was almost as if the technician was in a court of law as a defendant to try to prove his case.

    Another problem that I was not particularly satisfied with was the amount of time It took someone to answer the technician's call when calling in. There should be a number specifically for the technicians so that their work will not be hindered by a 20 minute hold on the phone. I would highly recommend this technician but there are a lot of things that could be corrected with customer service.

When he came in to make the replacement he worked diligently and after a while got it working.     I called the 800 number and my first agent, Michael **, was very rude and unprofessional. During the first few minutes he explained that the basic plan does not cover various items and that the total plan would be a better option. Naturally, I asked what items were included in each plan. He explained and continued to offer me a deeper discount. When I kindly asked if he could send me an email with the items so I can review he resisted and asked what was holding me back from agreeing to a contract. I responded saying I would like to compare to competitors. After he rudely stated that he has been doing this for 15 years and he knew his plan is the best, I simple responded that I would like to comparative shop the items covered in the other plans to make sure it was truly the best value. He abruptly hung up on me. Last time I checked you do not treat potential customers that way.

    Lastly, he had the audacity to email me an offer expiration. I called back and spoke to another agent (Clarence) who was fairly more respectful. Because of him I decided to use your company. However, the experience overall has left me with a VERY VERY bad feeling about the organization and its employees. I encourage management to find the recorded call and evaluate who they allow to work as sales agents. IT WAS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I cannot express how UPSET I AM about this experience!

    Stove/range handle, a small plastic piece needed to be replaced. Your group decided, arbitrarily, given the stove handle was only 3 to 4 years old, that it was not due to normal wear and tear and not covered. That was and is ridiculous...then come find out the dishwasher repair discussed with my case manager that a request was forthcoming, would not be covered in that the dishwasher was a newer version and would be denied for the same reason as the stove. Then I find out my hose bid (house outside faucet) is not covered. You guys are ridiculous and based on my first three request being denied, I intend to denied you, future monthly payments, after we complete the one service call you actually did approve approve. I will not be kind, on social media, regarding my experiences with your organization with my friend and acquaintances.

    I had two separate problems occur within a matter of days. There was a few day lag before technicians arrived. The HVAC issue was resolved the same day but the plumbing matter took 3 separate visits to address mainly because technicians did not have the right equipment the first time, only one came the 2nd time with a "quick fix" chemical that failed and finally spent several hours during the 3rd visit but all got fixed in the end.     Overall, I was extremely disappointed with Choice. It took 3 days to get an electrician out my home - with two last-minute reschedules at inconvenient times. Nobody answered/returned my calls at the numbers I was given, so I was without power in 1/3 of my home for three days and had to miss two days of work waiting on an electrician to show up.

As a result, he didn’t really know why I was having issues. He conjectured that I must have a problem somewhere due to faulty wiring, and said he would file the official claim.

    I was not given the opportunity to write the claim, and I don’t know what he submitted, but apparently it was rejected. So yes, I’m frustrated with the poor customer service, the lack of responsiveness, the inadequate assessment, and the layers of “loopholes” and “fine print” that allow Choice to slip out of doing the service I am allegedly paying for. So as of now, I am still without power, I still don’t know what the problems are, and I am forced to start contacting other electricians for new bids. Incredibly disappointing.

    You're better off flushing your money down the toilette than taking out a warranty contract from Choice: Choice Home Warranty makes empty promises selling their service contract. We waited over 3 month for an appliance repair and all they can say is the parts are on backorder and it will take another 2-3 month - but they cannot promise a firm delivery date. Their recommendation was to reassign our repair to another subcontractor...with even longer wait times! They recognize they cannot repair the appliance without the parts but have no intention replacing our appliance, in spite of our contract.     Over the past year I have put in several claims and every time I have either had to pay for the service to be completed or pay for the complete job. My garage lights were not working and you sent a technician out and basically they needed the balances and new light bulbs, you denied it. It cost me $550. I was told that it was not covered because it was not normal wear and tear, my house is over 20 years old and not a lot has been replaced. So in my opinion most everything that needed to be repaired in this house is normal wear and tear over the 20 years.

    One time a technician was sent out to work on my dishwasher, the man was here for 15 minutes open the door and left, with $85, the next notification I got was saying that my dishwasher had to be replaced. But you were only willing to pay $247 to replace a dishwasher. I could not find one that would not at least cost me double that to get it delivered and installed. I waited on that and approximately two weeks later something told me to try it, the dishwasher worked fine after that, a plumber told me sometimes a float gets stuck in them and evidently the float had come loose. The appliance repairman that came obviously just came to collect the $85.

    The next problem I had was a stopped up toilet and a sink that was leaking all over the floor, not only was each one of these going to cost me $85, but you couldn't find anybody to come out offering me the reimbursement option, which entails a very significant effort on the technicians at part to get reimbursed. I called the plumber on my own and just to fix the toilet was $270. The reason most people have this warranty is because they're going to save money because they're on a budget, or they are widowed or a widower, or they are elderly. I'm very frustrated because I was told it was a whole house warranty, and I'm paying $60 a month for this warranty but I'm also having to pay for most of the repairs.

    On my air conditioner when you sent a technician out I wound up paying another $200 to have him complete the job because you only okayed certain things to be done. Everything else that needed to be done was not covered, such as new filters and wiring that went to the air conditioner. Again this was supposed to be a whole house warranty. The shower repair that was approved has yet to be done by the technician that had it approved. So for over a month I have waited for that work to be completed even though I already paid my $85.

    I'm extremely dissatisfied that every problem has to be a separate claim even though it pertains to the same problem, like the plumbing, The toilet was going to cost me $85 and the sinks was going to cost me $85 and the toilet valves was going to cost me $85. This was a single problem, PLUMBING, it should have all been taken care of with one single copay of $85. I am not sure exactly why I am paying you $60 a month if I am still having to pay for the majority of the repairs to be done, either because it's not covered or because you can't find anyone to come and fix it. I was not going to live in a house with a stopped up toilet for over a week with the only option to find my own plumber and then possibly you reimburse him if the price was right. I am actually having a hard time justifying the $60 a month just to claim I have a warranty. All other warranties that I have on my property covers the repairs promptly and at most times no cost to me.

    Noticed on Sunday night we needed heat, did not come on. Called CHW Monday am and they contacted us that someone would come Tuesday between 3 and 8. We are used to getting service within a few hours when it comes to HVAC. Spenc’s (Timothy Spencer) arrives at 2:15pm, at our home 10 minutes and says it is repaired. As the evening drew near, tried to put the heat on, no heat. Tried called him, he gave us his card with his cell, he got annoyed and said he will try to fit us in The next day. We tried calling CHW and their recording said they were closed and we should go To the website. We can’t believe that CHW does not have 24/7 phone and emergency service.

    Went to the website, no way to get to old complaint, filed a new one, what a mess. Can’t get someone on the phone from CHW, everything is done through website and email - that’s terrible. They emailed that someone would be there Thursday. My. Pleasant technician showed up at 8:30ish, worked on the system for over 3 1/2 hours and got the system working. Glad to say it is still working this morning, hope it continues. Carlos from Mt. Pleasant was very courteous and pleasant. Can’t believe CHW sent Spenc’s the first time with such an unknowledgeable worker.

    All in all, thank God it’s working, but we are still disappointed in how it was handled - can’t get someone on the phone from CHW, have to go through website and email. When they were soliciting us to take the policy, we were getting calls, from a live person, two and three times a day. Not very nice considering when you have a problem, you can’t get anyone on the phone. $85 for service call from Spenc’s through CHW, when Spenc’s only charges $45. All in all unhappy customers.

I recall speaking to a woman and giving her my credit card, being advised that the policy would go into effect in 40 days, and that was it. Today I called because my lower level ac is not working. They refused to even honor the claim because my April 19th payment had not cleared the bank. I never made any April payment, nor had I authorized anyone from Choice to take money from me!

    I further learned they had taken money out of my account for the last 2 months, neither of which I was aware of! No emails from them. No confirmations. No correspondence. NOTHING! Their "Vendor relations rep" then tried getting more money from me and refused to address my real issues and hung up on me when I told him nothing doing no more ripping me off and to please look at the initial agreement and for my signature. He refused.

    The process of placing a claim is okay. However, The timing for the technicians is in need of being more punctual. The fees for service calls is WAY TOO HIGH at $65.     A/C evaporator is not covered due to rust or corrosion. The system is 12 years old. Of course there will be some rust. Then I was informed while canceling my policy that Choice now offer an upgraded policy which does cover rust. That upgrade was offered to me for five dollars more. I was told this upgrade came out November of 2020, but I was never made aware. Being that this is an option on policies now, I would think there would have been a better solution to my problem than just straight up denying the claim.

    I've had Choice Home Warranty, without ever expecting to use it. My son told me I should get it because it would be just another tool to give me peace of mind at my age. I went into the freezer section of my frost-free unit, and it was full of ice on the walls. I thawed out the freezer, then two days later it was full of ice again and the refrigerator section was no longer cooling. I submitted a claim with Choice, and they quickly sent out a service person to check the unit. It was determined that it was better to replace the unit with a new one, rather than repairing it. The only down part of the entire process is I now have no refrigerator and they say it will take 30 days to issue e-gift cards for Lowe's. I do not have an issue with obtaining the new unit from Lowe's, however, I do have an issue with waiting 30 days, to do it. In this instance, Choice has room for improvement. Other than that, I have no issues with Choice and incredibly happy I followed my sons' suggestion.
