    This is the 4th time we have called on air conditioning issues. The bandaids keep coming off making a bigger problem each time. I have water marks on my ceiling in different rooms, we paid for a overflow 100.00 switch that supposedly wasn't covered, that has been replaced before. It costs us out of pocket on top of service call every time. Our last service was the best. Johnathan from Air-Carolina spent time tracing the numerous issues. His recommendation, new unit. I had.5 refrigerant instead of 3 lbs that it should be. Why did it take 4 calls for that issue to be discovered? Not happy with Choice warranty.

    It took over a week for them to find someone even willing to come out and look at my problem. The plumber diagnosed the problem and called the company to let them know the extent. They denied my claim stating that it was "pre-existing"?! I just purchased my home this May and I did have a very good home inspector and there was no drain line crack at that time.     I purchased a Choice Home Warranty from my primary residence in 2018 for a six (6) year contract period, paying the contract in advance, in full. I previously had American Shield. If I could offer a rating of less than one (1) star I would. The first plan of defense is finding some technicality to deny your claim. In the event, they do actually replace something it is rarely of the same or better quality than the appliance or item they replace. Their favorite tactic is to direct you to the fine print (exclusions) in the contract language. "We only replace with like and kind." I had a name brand Insulated Quiet Name brand 3/4 HP garbage disposal that they first tried to pass off a 1/4 hp generic brand standard version as a replacement when I objected they relented and put in a generic 3/4" hp non-insulated version.

    Had a LG Stainless side-by-side refrigerator that went (purchased 2-months before the warranty was bought) out. They denied coverage saying the unit had a factory extended warranty (which incidentally had just expired prior to the claim by 47 days). After I disputed the denial, I was then told what the dispatched technician had already related to me, that there was a factory recall covering my compressor failure issue. I was denied an AC coil replacement because "the unit had significant corrosion" and thus was not covered as a failure! Hello, I stay in very humid Houston, TX where everything rust and corrodes.

    My house was built in 1996. Oh by the way make sure you have you change your HVAC filters timely and date them when installed. I keep a filter before and after the change as proof for a of minimum 90 days. A semi-dirty HVAC filter would automatically get your failure claim tossed according to a couple of their dispatched technicians. I could go on and on and on but I think you get the point. I will edit my review in the future to include pictures etc.

    Last fall I had you send someone out here to check out hot water heater and they didn't know anything about my system so I called and told you that and said I had someone that knew about it. I told you his number so you could reach him. Then I was told to have him come and see what was wrong and send you his findings. He went through all the stuff you wanted him to do which was an hour or better filling out your paperwork which he isn't paid for and never got a response back. So I left for the winter and came back and water heater was still not fixed and call the person that had done all your paperwork and he came out seen some things that needed to be fixed but he said he wasn't going to go through all that process again. When I called you about it you said he never sent or did anything which is not true. Now I have money in a program and it's not working for me.

    I'm now waiting for your people to find someone who knows the system that I have and can come out here and fix it. What happens in the next 2 days will make my decision if I will keep my renewal that I signed up for a few days before all this started again. I am giving this program the chance to make me feel good about having your program. So now we shall see soon. Your reimbursement process needs work. Thank you, Linda **. P.S.     Our central air conditioner quit working on Saturday afternoon so I entered a claim online. Sunday morning I received an email stating that CHW had not been able to find a company to service us and that we had the option to find our own company and that CHW would compensate us for the approved cost. We contacted a reputable company and their tech came out and assessed the problem and emailed CHW with the diagnoses and cost for repair. Within 10 minutes the tech received a call from a CHW representative asking for a lower bid, which the tech agreed to, but needed approval from the CHW "review committee" and would call me back within 10 minutes.

    One hour later, after receiving no call, I called and talked to Oscar who told me that the review committee would take 2 hours to get back to me. I told him the tech was here waiting and asked Oscar to try harder for an answer. After 5 minutes Oscar came back on the line and said he had good news and then the line went dead. I called back and was connected to Brenda. I explained that Oscar had been helping me, but she said she would handle things.

    I explained the problem and Brenda told me it would take 24 hours for the review. Since it was 102 degrees outside, I told her this wasn't acceptable and that she had to help me with the situation. After what seemed like 10 minutes of getting nowhere I hung up. On Monday morning I had an email approving my repair, which was great, but at no time did I receive a phone call (and they all had my number). Bottom line: my repair was approved and our tech made the repair within 2 hours of being contacted, but the customer service/interaction of CHW was frustrating and disappointing.

    I purchased a home in Texas in a very remote area border with Mexico. Prior to purchasing the warranty I asked them if they had technicians that would go to my area if needed and they said they had technicians all over the nation. My first claim required a plumber, never sent. My online request was ignored. My second claim required a water heater repair or replacement and they never sent anyone. I sent them an e-mail that I wanted to cancel and was told I needed to call which I did. I explained my situation, I was placed on hold and after being on hold for a long time the call got disconnected. The guy I was talking to never bothered to call me when he had my contact information. I don't recommend warranty. They don't want to refund my money.

    When I had a problem with my freezer/icemaker I had to make repetitive calls for help. I was first referred to a vendor who said they would charge me the full repair amount (Sears Repair) and I would need to get reimbursed by Choice Warranty. It took many calls to sort this out until Choice Warranty found another repair service. I also did not like the fact that I had to leave my repair problem online and not talk to a real person after hours. I thought this was 24 hour service. My prior warranty company always had a real person on call to answer emergencies no matter when it happened. Lucky for me the fridge part of my fridge did work or it could have been a disaster losing food, etc. I will probably not be renewing for another year when the times come.

    I purchased a home warranty from Choice home warranty about one year ago — still under warranty. The company they sent out, Baker's Residential Experts, was quite professional in the work they performed. They determined that my compressor had gone out. They contacted choice home warranty to get authorization to replace the compressor. My claim was denied! The reason was because the compressor was only seven years old. According to them, it should last for at least 14 years.

    Baker's Residential did report that my unit was in perfect condition and had been maintained to perfection. Choice HW stated that they would not pay for the compressor. This is fraudulent, unethical, and they are scammers. I am in a heatwave and my house is over 90°. In the home are individuals with respiratory problems and one handicapped individual. They simply do not care. Now, I must hire lawyers to fight this. Choice HW does not stand behind their warranty or their contracts.

    Our home water heater has begun to leak rusty water from the bottom of the unit. This is a sign that the heater core has rotted and is failing. We paid for the CW selected plumber to inspect our unit, which he said needs to be replaced. CW has denied the claim based on policy language which says CW doesn't cover storage tanks. However, look at most CW ads which pitch their coverage of your home water heater. Just more insurance mumbo jumbo to not cover an item one is told this type of policy to covers. Not only am I disappointed that a unit CW's technician says needs to be replaced, but I'm concerned that the improperly functioning unit has created a health issue for me & my family. I'm very dissatisfied!

    Recently, after sending a technician to look at my washing machine, CHW decided to replace it. They said they would replace with a similar item. They gave me an egift card to Lowe's for 2/3 the price of the least expensive front load washer. When I filed a dispute it took over two weeks to get to talk to someone, and then it wasn't the case manager but someone who kept reading the policy over and over. Then she said they would not reimburse retail (which is what I have to pay). So I am still out of pocket quite a bit of money. The only good thing that came out of the conversation is that they agreed to disburse a check so that I wasn't limited to Lowe's.

    The technician who came out was great this time for the hot water tank. The 1st one that came out last week did not send in a report. I had to insist after 3 days went by and no report from the technician. No running water in my house for over a week now. They finally transferred it to the guy who came on Tuesday. He submitted my information and they still haven't replaced my hot water tank and I had to file an appeal and now they want me to wait another week. That said, there are so many exceptions for every item that getting claims accepted is very tough. My AC broke and needed a new condensation pump but apparently they don’t cover condensation pumps! When I try it, I always get a terrible experience because the phone service cannot recognize what I am saying, which leads to an improper claim being made. However, if you can muscle through on the phone and get in touch with a real person, they are very helpful.     The technician was very knowledgeable, and punctual. Choice Home Warranty, on the other hand, does not meet the standard for my choice in warranty providers. I now understand why they have low reviews and class action lawsuits. The supervisor, Nick, that I spoke with told me no warranty service would cover the "AC compressor locked up" as documented by tech, but that's also a false statement. The faulty part is not due to misuse and is in a closed system so was not manipulated by me at all. The unit was also serviced when I bought the home 2 yrs ago.
