On time and diagnosed refrigeration, ordered parts and scheduled repair date. Technicians were friendly, respectful and knowledgeable of the issues and also provided knowledge to new technician. There is not much else to say but awaiting the final completion of the repair.

Items not fixed currently waiting 90 days for repair. Was told my stove was not convection when replaced and it is. Consistent incorrect information provided. Overall poor experiences and poor customer service. Service people don’t come out when told and/or don’t return to finish work.

We just bought this house 2 months ago. The home warranty transferred from the prior owner. We had a contract for preventative maintenance on the HVAC system from our old house that transferred. That company found problems with our heating system and disconnected the system for safety. We contacted Choice, who sent out one of their contracted technicians. The technician was nearly impossible to contact and schedule with. It took them several weeks to correctly and fully diagnose the problem. We were then told by Choice that the problems found were our responsibility because it was due to improper maintenance (done by the prior owners, not us). We ended up calling back the first company to replace the system so now we get to pay $8500 after having no heater for weeks. We would have been better off without the coverage, it offered us nothing. Don’t waste your time and money, we won’t be renewing it when it expires.

He seemed to be knowledgeable, but unsure how to dismantle the refrigerator doors. Once that was figured, it was ok. He was pleasant and professional. I would have given 5 stars but was leery about the hesitation on the doors.

Submitted claim for Refrigerator that was not cooling. Appt made for next day? This should be a priority to avoid loss of food. I called to see if I could get a same day appt--was told I would lose my current appt and may not get a same day appt as they would need to resubmit the bid....Paying for this for almost 2 years and never used--I will think twice about renewing.

The representative sold me on this policy and made me feel comfortable about purchasing it. He was very knowledgeable and reassuring when I had doubts. He explained that I would always be able to reach him if I had any questions.

The service technician was prompt and very courteous. He called in advance to let me know his estimated arrival time. I was very pleased with the work. He had to return to the shop to pick up a part to complete the repair, but he returned in a timely manner.

Technician was very professional and knowledgeable in his trade. He was able to troubleshoot the problem within five minutes. The only delay was caused by the back-and-forth required between the technician and Choice warranty headquarters for approval. I was not made aware of this process when purchasing the policy.

I have to say Choice Home Warranty is great. The only complaint I have is who they contract out to do the service. Sears is not reliable. They don’t show up for appointments or let you know that they are not coming to reschedule, and when they do show up, they don’t fix the problem, they add to it. Not Pleased with their service at all!!

Assist was fair after a lot of hustle with the representative. Requested to speak to the manager and the manager only called back the following day afternoon after 1pm for an urgent matter. When the matter was already resolved. Was really disappointed

T&J Heating/Air Conditioning/Plumbing were thorough and educated well on issues we were having with our hot water heater. They were able to service in 48 hours. After the help we got with Choice Warranty for repairs we would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

The response time was very good (within one hour of submitting the claim). The contractor provided a response within one hour as well. They arrived on time the next day. The tech diagnosed the problem and replaced the disposal unit on the spot (he had a new unit with him on the truck).

The HandyMan came at the appointed time, assessed the job and began working to repair a sticking set of rear doors. There was no mess. Left to clean and the doors have never worked better. Overall, it was a great customer experience!

I have been paying for this home warranty for years primarily to handle any problems with my a/c. The technician was amazing. He was prompt, knowledgeable, and helpful. He quickly determined the unit was low on freon and was leaking from somewhere. He needed to find out where the leak was coming from but the warranty doesn't cover the leak detection ($600). Also, the warranty doesn't cover rust and dirt causing the leak so the warranty might not cover the coil if that is the problem. The house is 4 years old and I have had the unit serviced regularly so it isn't dirty or rusted! Very dissatisfied!

You say you repair or replace. Not true. Could not repair and then you only gave $246.00 for us to replace a dishwasher that cost three times that. I will not renew our insurance with you and will tell everyone we know not to do business with you.

I had a problem with the freeze. The refrigerator part stop cooling although the freezer part was working. I called the Choice home Warranty. Within 24 hrs. they dispatch the tech. and he diagnose that one of the fan is not working and he is going to place the order. Hopefully in 5 working days we will have the parts and it will be replaced. Unfortunately the part is not available and Choice Home Warranty agree to replace the refrigerator. Thanks a lot for Case Managers Yvette O. and Paula M., they solve the problem. I wish I would have gotten more for my refrigerator but these two professionals tried their level best to help me. Thank you very much and I will definitely recommend CHW to my family and friends.

The contractor who finally was assigned to my plumbing issue handled the job adequately. The issue was that CHW was not able to find a contractor until 3 days after I submitted the claim. And then the contractor couldn’t fit me in for 5 days. So it took 8 days for this to get repaired. In my opinion, that is too long to live with a clogged kitchen sink. They would have reimbursed me up to $500 for me to find my own contractor. But they wouldn’t pay the assigned contractor for an emergency service would he said would have been $350. That’s what I paid for normal service for same issue a few months ago. If this happens to you, take the reimbursement option. You will get your issue resolved much quicker. Makes you wonder about CHW’s reputation with contractors if they can’t find one to provide the service provided by our contract.

Butler Plumbing in Wichita, Kansas was great for the second time. Fast, friendly and courteous. I had to reschedule my appointment and they were fast, and understanding. Home warranty is worth the peace of mind it offers when issues in a new home a raise. Thank you.

I have had nothing but trouble with my garage door opener for the last several months. I have paid enough in service calls to buy a new garage door opener and have it installed. I finally found out what the real problem is. I was told that there are wires crossed in the outlet that the garage door opener is plugged into. I am not very happy about the misinformation I was given by the handyman/electricians who came to evaluate the problem. I believe if these repair people knew what they were doing I would have had the problem solved when the first repair person/electrician came to my house.

My garage door opener hasn’t operated correctly since mid June. First, I was told that the opener needed to be replaced then it worked for a week or so. Second, I was told that the reason it quit working this time was an electrical problem. Third, I had an electrician come to check the situation out at that time I was told that if it quit working again I should push my GFIs in the bathroom. I did that and it didn’t work so I did another claim and fourth, I was told that it wasn’t electrical it was a defective door opener so at this point I am not very happy with the repair people that have come to my house and I’m still dealing with a garage door opener that doesn’t work and I believe I have paid $170.00 for repairs that weren’t done properly.

Please know that the experience I’m referring to is the over the phone experience that I had with Choice Home Warranty. I purchased a home warranty for over $1,700. The policy I received at the time was refereed to as the “VIP” Policy according to the rep I spoke with. I was given two free complimentary service calls. When I recently tried to redeem one I was informed that they had expired. I spoke with a supervisor just to gain clarity because I was not formerly advised the 2 complimentary service calls had expiration dates. The employee's name was Brandon employee ID **. Rude, unprofessional, and inconsiderate would all be understatements to describe my service experience.
Choice Home Warranty has always been great in their customer service in the past and I was astounded how Brandon treated me as a customer. And I'm regretting the hard money I earned to invested into a home warranty that would render this level of service. I paid the $45 service fee. The money was not the issue. It was the primary service experience I received as a customer. I’m very hesitant on recommending this home warranty company to both friends & family.

Had to call my own tech because CHW couldn't find one in a timely manner. Then CHW attempted to renege on payment when it obviously was a factory defect of some sort. Finally paid labor, yet refused to pay for parts coincidental to warranty repair.

We've had at least 3 claims. Each time the response has been immediate and appointments were set up within 1 day. All service was completed timely and professionally. It has definitely saved us more than the cost of the plan. I'm so pleased with the service I signed up for the 3 year plan.

When I called to report a problem with our dishwasher and oven their response time was quick and we were informed of of a scheduled appt for the following day. The technician was extremely knowledgeable and within 45 min had realized the dishwasher and oven problem. I highly recommend Go Repair!

The tech gave us notice on when they would arrive and were actually a few minutes early. Then they checked out the problem and diagnosed it correctly. Getting the part proved to be a bit of an ordeal as they had to make a long trip, but eventually arrived with the correct part and had the unit up and running that day. In addition, he showed us some things to check and watch for on our system for continued smooth operation.

Two technicians arrived when scheduled - quickly determined what need to be done, and explained repairs to me. They understood my description of the problems with the Samsung Dryer, and indicated it could be repaired. They obviously knew what they were doing, I was impressed with how quickly the repairs were completed. They were friendly but professional and I would not hesitate to have them do any repairs for me in the future.

We received an immediate response to our service request when our condenser suddenly failed. Within 2 days we had an inspection replacement approval and hopefully the actual replacement soon to follow so service swift and efficient. Hopefully the equipment and contractor both chosen by the company are also competent and correct for the application. The only concern are all the charges for “other” work related but excluded from the replacement. Everyone should check the language of your contract closely. Actual savings for a project like this is about 50% of the cost which might not be what you are expecting when you paid 1500 plus for the warranty as our other charges are in excess of 1500.00.

Professional and friendly., Explained the problem and different types of replacements. Submitting the problem was very easy and the technician took care of all the paperwork. We had our sump pump replaced in less than 24 hours after our submittal! The cost was very reasonable.

If I had the option of taking more time, like 2-4 weeks to pay, I would have taken advantage of the 3yr offer. It was disappointing that I could not have. It is difficult to pay so much money while you are in the middle of purchasing a home.

Claim process was very easy and I liked being able to track the claim status online. The service vendor was on time to their appointment and notified prior to arrival. They were also able to resolve the issue very quickly. My only minor complaint is that the appointment window was 4 hours. A 2 hour window would be much more preferable.

The vendor who came out was awesome, no complaints. The process was agonizing since the first time CHW had not sent them a work order so as I waited nobody showed up and nobody called. Not the first time this has happened so I called CHW at which time I was told they would send the work order right away which they did. This is frustrating for the amount of money I pay every month and wondering if I need to shop around.

The garage door service tech was knowledgeable, professional and on time. Choice Warranty covered about 70% of the repair costs. That's better than nothing! Garage door components are not covered under all plans, thankfully we have the Ultimate plan so the spring was covered and will be repaired in a week due to a shortage of parts.

The Choice Warranty company prorates the appliance replacement, so no full replacement. You get what you pay for. The technician from Sears was excellent, they can diagnose the problem and get the problem resolved. We were sent an independent service tech previously and he did not do as well.

Technician was very professional and knowledgeable. Coordinated times around my work schedule to come in and perform maintenance. He found the problem quickly and was able to repair in a timely manner upon him receiving the part. I would recommend him to other people for HVAC maintenance.

What an up and down experience. CHW tried very hard to get a serviceman out to take care of our plumbing problem. Finally, after they contacted a 3rd company, we got someone to come out to fix the issue. Not sure what the problem was, but it did not lie with CHW, but with the service companies.

He found the problem, made a suggestion and completed the work efficiently. Very please with his work. The longer I've been with Choice Home Warranty, the more disappointed I am with the limitations they put on coverage. I am actively shopping to find a program with less small print and more coverage.

Choice Home Warranty did not cover my plumbing costs because I had no clean out when I signed up for the program. They did not tell me this so I don’t think that is fair. I still get charged the $75Dollar service charge since I wasn’t aware of not having a clean out would cancel my Plumbing insurance.

This is the first time I have used any home warranty service when the technician arrives and fixed the problem before they left. Usually technicians do not carry even the most common replacement parts. This is a business model that would give the company using it a clear competitive advantage.

Technician was great. But you chose to replace my Dishwasher instead of repair. It is a $1200 machine and you are only giving me $246 towards a new machine. It was my understanding you would replace my appliances with a comparable one. I was obviously mistaken as there is not even a Dishwasher I can buy at Lowe's, where you gave me a gift card, with the dollar amount I received. Let alone one of the quality I previously owned.

Serviceman came and took all the important information about the broken water heater and the new one we had installed. The old heater was 31 years old and we needed hot water as soon as possible. I am recovering from cancer. A new one was installed.

Choice contacted my preferred repair company. The company was super responsive and schedule the repair for the next AM. Repairs were completed quickly and efficiently. Nothing but good comments for Choice and Plumbrite of East Tennessee. I would highly recommend both companies.

I had multiple issues with my a/c unit that Choice was able to get me taken care of 3 and 4 years ago. Then my washing machine broke 2 years ago and again, all it cost me was a deductible. I renew my home warranty with Choice because it gives me peace of mind knowing they are there for me.

Not at all happy. Repair team arrived and said they could not touch the refrigerator because it had been modified. I inherited the refrigerator when I purchased the house. We did not make the modifications. Who would even know to check such a thing. This is the second appliance that has stopped working and you have not covered either one. I would never recommend your company.

I've had CHW coverage on my rental property for almost three years. I use a property management company and their repairs manager has commented several times that CHW is responsive to filed claims and sends out quality techs to get the work done. I appreciate the confidence that repairs will be quickly and competently addressed. Less friction for me... I like it.

They refused to pay for the damages and only offered me less than half of what the dishwasher cost. I will have to pay $400 out of pocket to get me a new dishwasher. The company basically has the right to refuse service to the customer and pay whatever they want for a new appliance or repair.

Excellent Customer Service from start to finish. Repairman came in and examined the situation and gave me some details what was the problem and said he was leaving the ticket open for 30 days to see if there are any more leaks.

The response for my claim on water heater broke down was very prompt. The technician contacted my tenant to schedule a visit and I am happy with the time frame technician got assigned on resolving mitigating the issue. Communication from the team was great as well.

I have a problem with ice particles in my frost free freezer in my garage. It seems that the magnetic gasket, isn't making a tight seal all around the door. It leaves a space in the lower left (viewed from front/side), and is allowing outside are to enter the freezer. Somehow you decided that the gasket is torn rather than worn. The contractor was called by me and assured me that they will be able to explain to Choice about the misunderstanding and should allow for the repair. I'm awaiting that good news for this, my second claim since joining Choice.

Doing your claims over the internet is very easy but sometimes you don't have the right answers to pick from. But it's still easier than sitting on the phone waiting to talk to some one. As far as the service it takes a while for the technician to get to your house to fix your problem but otherwise I'm happy with CHW.

Choice was prompt with scheduling Sears Service for repair. Sears Service scheduled repair same day October 11, I got call when repairperson was suppose to arrive. Person went home sick and rescheduled Nov 3, 23 days later. 23 days no dryer. Not a great program. Need to do better.

My washer had to be replaced. It cost me $819.00 for a middle of the line model. I was only reimbursed $343.00. I was assigned a case manager to discuss this with. There was no discussion on her part, the offer was take it or leave it.

Our refrigerator went out, so we submitted a warranty claim. The repair company got in touch with us within a day to schedule the repair. Tech came out and diagnosed the issue. He was very professional, tidy, and explained everything clearly, however he would have to wait on parts to repair. We are now waiting on the callback to schedule the actual repair. Everything has gone well thus far. The only negative of this process so far is timing. Fridge went out on a Thursday, we submitted the claim on Saturday, first available service appt was Thursday which didn't work for us, so we had to reschedule to following Monday. Tech came Monday, now are waiting again for the actual repair.

After a visit from the technician to diagnose an issue with my outside AC unit. They completed their diagnostics and explained what the issue was. They wrote it up and sent it to CHW. Not 1 hour later I received an email from CHW stating they carefully reviewed the issue and would not be able to approve the fix. Only caveat here is that the explanation of the issue CHW provided me was completely different from that of the technician who came onsite. This not only tells me they did not "carefully review" my case as they state, it also tells me they must have a auto populated template email that they fire out to customers automatically denying claims without the due diligence of a thorough review of cases. Meanwhile I am with no AC now going on 4 days, in the state of Florida.

We have a $60 deductible. We always had good experience before, but your tech charged us $85 extra for a simple repair. We are pissed. You owe us a refund. I have been without air conditioning since Friday, October 1 and have been told it would be another 5 days before parts even came in to repair the unit, making that 2+ weeks. Any communication I have had is due to my calling repeatedly to help move the process along. Despite putting in several requests to speak to a supervisor, I have yet to hear from anyone as I was told all supervisors are working out of their homes and are not readily available.

CHOICE Home Warranty Company - Deadbeat company. I purchased a 42 month home warranty with Choice 9/2021 for $1176. In August of 2021, my HVAC completely broke down. Choice could not find a technician as the weather was 95 degrees. I contacted the last company they sent and it agreed to service the unit, even though CHOICE was not paying for services on other jobs they accepted. CHOICE and the service company agreed to the reimbursal method so my technician posted the estimate on their site. Choice replied on their website to me indicating the work could be completed. Now that it is done, Choice will not cover the work.
I asked to cancel the policy and they will only refund $426 for the policy that still has 31 months left on it. DO NOT USE CHOICE HOME WARRANTY! They are a deadbeat home warranty company. My close friend is experiencing the same issue with CHOICE for her appliances. This is a pattern of behavior for CHOICE Home Warranty. The best advice is to bank the monthly fee and cover your own service issues when they arise. Whatever the case, do not use CHOICE Home Warranty.

It's hard to be accurate when dealing with not one but three different repair services. The first two by Home warranty. The first walked out after diagnosing issue and refused to do service. The second directed me to obtain part as it was warranted. Then the fun began. Maybe you should be more careful in choosing your wenders that are your front line and giving service to your customers. The last technician who was supposed to be fixing the problem in my property, he took the $75 and disappeared and now I have to pay again $75 for the job which was not finished at the first time. Last two claims resulted in denied claims. First one was for slab leak and since I used a vendor who charged less than half what CHW's wanted, claim was denied because they were not "approved". Took over a week to get a determination with no hot water. Second claim denied stating appliance covered by manufacturers warranty is in effect. Submitted appeal base on inaccuracy of reason. Manufacturer has verified that appliance is out of warranty and has been for over 1 year.

We have well water pumped to a main holding tank that feeds to the hot water heater. The water heater is a gas unit and started leaking and not working. Filed claim and it was denied!? Choice salespersons are very misleading with the term repair or replace. My microwave and washer stopped. I called in my problem. Choice, then had the tech come to my home. They determine both come not be fix. Instead of replacing my microwave and washer. I was emailed gift cards for $343 for toward a washer and $191 for a microwave. I called Choice. I told them this doesn’t cover the replacement of my appliances. I was told to look at my contact. It says Repair, Replace or Buyout... Almost not worth having this policy. Takes too long to get an application on an emergency water issue. No one can go 7 days without a repair. Called my own repair man. Paid out of pocket for same day service. Now in email when I tried to get reimbursed you tell me that I could have called and said it was an emergency to get the water back on and try to find another vendor. I did tell the lady that I needed my water back on as soon as possible and the appointment was set for seven days later. Unacceptable. Went two months without washing machine.
You had some bootleg company come out and the guy did not know what he was doing. I told y’all over and over he did not know what he was doing. Finally he stopped returning calls for both of us. You and me. And then you sent another technician and decided that the item was not covered so I went out once again and got someone else to repair it. During that two months I had to go to the laundromat and spend over $50 a week to get my clothes clean. Had I not been kept hanging on for two months dealing with the bootleg contractor I would’ve saved a ton of money and could’ve just done it myself.

This company will find any possible way to refuse a claim. Said I had too much grease in my microwave, no, the microwave was sparking and I was told it needed to be replaced by a company not sent by Choice. Had electrical issues, gfi went out in bathrooms which created outside (attached to house) outlets to not work. Will not fix outdoor outlets! They send people that will purposely find a way to write up the claim so it will NOT get fixed. I will not renew nor will I recommend. Even the vendors will tell you that choice will refuse more than they will repair. I have had one claim refused. I disagreed with them a phone call was scheduled. Reminders from choice sent on more than one occasion and no phone call was made. When contacted they scheduled another call. Again, nothing.

I contacted CHW on a Friday night and was not expecting an answer until Monday. Imagine my surprise when I woke up on Saturday morning and saw they responded. The technician was presentable, in his uniform well identified, and very professional. He seemed very knowledgeable. He explained the process of submitting his findings and any future processes. Having dealt with other technicians from other companies, it was a good experience for the first time dealing with a claim at Choice Warranty.

Microwave problem reported in June and was never call by a service tech. I made calls to CHW to find a tech. Never happened thru July, August, September, or October. I never renewed because of CHW failed to get a repair tech. out to service my microwave.

I was very surprised with the same-day response by the Technician. He quickly diagnosed the problem and it was submitted to Choice Home Warranty for decision. It was approved the next day, the fan was replaced and all is well. The AC was out a total of two days. Great response by Choice Home Warranty and the technician.

My AC unit went out on 10/2/2021 and according to the technician that came out it needs to be replaced because you can not get parts for it. He submitted his findings and told the person taking down his assessment that it was basically worn out and given the age of the system it needs to be replaced due to no fault of my own. My claim was denied stating that it was a power surge that caused my system to go out. How can that happen unless he intentionally put that in for my claim, when my technician stated that it was not a power surge that caused it to go out. So, I am still without AC living in south Alabama with temperatures over 85 degrees, and this has been going on for over a week.
I still have to talk to a specialist and see if my claim is approved. With all the money I have spent on the home warranty and lost from having to take off work and no one ever showed up, and the first person that came out fraudulently took my deductible and did not come back to fix my system. It was the 4th technician that finally showed up and he was great. Gave great communication and customer service.

This was my first service request with Choice Home Warranty. The first technician that got assigned wasn't professional and highly offensive in behavior. I explained that to choice home and they immediately assigned a different one without any hesitancy. The second technician was total professional and quickly addressed the hvac issue at my house. My experience with the overall process was extremely well. All the customer service representatives at choice home were helpful and professional as well. I am very pleased.

He refused to look at work of 1st repairman to see what was the cause of the leak. He was rude. Reluctantly put on face mask. Attempted to negotiate a 50.00 payment from my husband to check out what he thought was wrong.. Did not finish work.. We still have small leak from the welding. We reported this to Sears through email. We are still waiting for the job to be complete.

My experience with Choice is off to a shaky start. Although I did get a good price, it came along with a very pushy salesman trying to get me to commit for 6 years. I repeatedly told the salesman that I was not looking for a commitment and my previous experience with other warranty companies. He kept trying to force me to take long contracts even after me saying no. I almost opted out and felt like I was being scammed with how pushy and persistent he was. Upon sign up, he never sent me my 2 policies I paid for. He only sent me 1 policy and stated I had only paid half the money when my credit card statement said otherwise. This made me feel like I had been victim of a scam. Worst feeling ever.

Poor customer service, most of the service representatives have no idea what they are doing, most service orders require multiple visits with multiple companies, and 3 of the 5 service orders I submitted resulted in me calling outside companies and paying it outside the warranty. Run away from this company!

Serviceman called me and told me he was in Ovilla, headed this way. I told him great, I have been waiting on him. I opened the front door and you could tell we were home. Told him to call me when he got here, that I was working on the back porch.... He did not call but took a picture of door and left. I have been waiting on this repair for a week. I called him, no answer----then I called office and he called and left msg with him. He could not have been over 3 miles from me when I called and asked him to return. I got an email saying that no one at home.... Need to reschedule.... It is FRIDAY and I guess he had something to do after work....because he could have come back....

This is my first time needing service with Choice Warranty. I was with another company before and my experience with Choice was outstanding. From the ability to easily request service on line (love that they set up an appointment but you can quickly and easily change it to fit my schedule) to the texts to let me know a shorter time frame on the day of service to the phone call from the person assigned that he was on the way, this has been a great experience. Needed a part, which he ordered on the spot (it is coming directly to my home) to setting an appointment for him to return and switch out the bad part with the new one. I really like that the same person will be returning as he knows the issue. I would highly recommend Choice Warranty. Their customer service is excellent.

I've had to have 3 service calls since becoming a new homeowner. I'm so glad that I purchased this home warranty! It has saved me over $1200. out of pocket expenses already! My most recent experience was with an electrician and he replaced a circuit breaker for me so that I'd have hot water again! He came within the time slot of appointment and was done in 30 minutes!

The plumbing take this. You did one very fine job. Came in. Introduces south. Dissect the problem. I repaired it in a timely manner. He took his time cleaning up after himself. He also gave me a structures about many more plumbing issues. I hope that I get the same technician when I called Choice Warranty about any other plumbing issue.

I was very disappointed with the initial amount of 191.00to replace the microwave. It is impossible even at sale price to get one for that amount. After talking to Yvette I believe I was able to get the amount to 250.00 which is still low but I did accept. The next issue is that you do not cover installation. My husband and I are unable to install so now have to pay to be done. This brings the replacement money below original amount.

Refrigerator's ice maker was not working. The tech had to order a new ice maker. It arrived at the house about 4 days later, I called the tech and he installed it. He said without Choice I would had to have spent about $250.00. I paid choice the tech $45.00 for this. I am glad I had the Choice Warranty.

I really hate your voice response system! It is difficult to navigate and does not give clear directions. The system to initiate a service request also is horrible. The employee I spoke to seemed to be interested only in getting off the call so she could get the next one. HOWEVER THE PLUMBER FROM FOREVER PLUMBING IS GREAT, EFFICIENT, CLEAN AND JUST SUPER.

Ok, so let’s talk about Choice Home Warranty. You know how HR departments are there to protect the company and not the employees? The same goes for home warranty companies. The vendors (service technicians) are there to protect the home warranty company from paying out claims, not repair your failing equipment.
From the moment something breaks, you file a claim and then you’re completely shut out of the process as it unfolds. And you’ll hear the two P words a lot from the home warranty company employees: process & policy. Once you make your claim, you’ll likely get an approval email saying everything is covered. They will set up an appointment for a vendor to come out and look at your problem and you’ll pay the $65 (or whatever fee is in your contract).
That vendor/service technician will come inspect the faulty equipment/problem and then write a report for the home warranty company that you’ll never be allowed to see, even if you ask, and then the home warranty company will leave you sitting for days while this report filters its way through the approval process. That report will be the basis for overturning the approved claim and you’ll be left with a denial of coverage. (That prior approval message will magically disappear from the claim thread on their website.)
Even though the problem might be glaringly obvious, even though you might be able to see it, touch it, take pictures of it, that technician report will state that the problem resides in a component that is explicitly excluded in your contract. At least according to Choice Home Warranty. If you’re able to obtain a copy of the report directly from the service technician, it will be three sentences long and won’t mention anything in the report that the denial will be based on.
If you’re unfortunate enough to have the faulty component be something akin to your air conditioning, as was my experience, you’ll be left sitting in the heat for weeks while all of this plays out. The vendor is not directly reachable; you’ll be routed through a call center. They will close the work order without repairing the problem once they submit their report. And at that point, they will deny any subsequent visits until the home warranty company ultimately denies the claim. They’ll then call you with a estimate for the repair to be paid for out of your own pocket. To be clear, this estimate is for a component that is not broken, nor is it the source of the problem. It’s to repair the component that will be the reason for claim denial.
At no point in their process, despite how many times you call, leave comments on the claim, ask questions to the home warranty company, will you ever receive any answers or clarifications or be allowed to dispute the technician report. If you choose to leave comments or questions on the claim through their website, understand that the agents will only respond with pre-formatted/canned messages that don’t address anything that you’ll say. The reply will always be exactly this: “Thank you for your email. We apologize for the overall experience. [Insert denial message that was previously emailed to you.]”
Per their policy, you have to wait for the claim to be completely denied before they’ll give you access to speak to a manager. At this point you can schedule a 15 minute conversation with an assigned manager to your claim. That manager will know nothing about your claim when you speak to them, as they do not review anything pertaining to your situation prior to the call. And if you speak to Lori **, she will repeatedly talk over you, fail to listen to anything you say, tell you that you are not a qualified technician so you’re unable to dispute the technician report, and inform you that you are bound by their processes.
The solution they will provide you is for you to pay out of pocket for an assessment by a certified technician, submit the findings to the home warranty claims department, and wait through the process of being approved or rejected again. Expect this total time investment to come in at around 3 weeks. By this point, you’ll probably either choose to pay to have the broken item repaired yourself or learn to live without it. Which is what this process is designed to do.
At no point are any of the employees of the home warranty company going to help you, make any exceptions to their policies (which you’re not allowed to see), or provide you assistance in disputing or correcting the misdiagnosis of your failing equipment. If you ask questions or take exception to anything above, they’ll tell you, “that’s the process” or “that’s our policy.” That’s all they are authorized to say. And there’s nobody above the case manager that you are assigned that you’ll be allowed to speak with. You can’t even change case managers, not that it would do any good. Tl;dr - It's a scam.

First of all the tech was good and said the insurance company will replaced it. My cook top is the top of the line 36" Kitchen Aid- Electric induction cooktop cost over $2000. I get a call from Choice saying they will send me $389. They were comparing it to the wrong cooktop because is a induction then after 30 minute they said $ 600 and something. They are comparing to the low end cooktop. EXTREMELY DIAPPOINTED.

We had two different appliance companies come to repair our dishwasher. First guy said it was fixed and within a week it was still not working. Second guy came out and said it was unfixable. If the first guy would have diagnosed it correctly we wouldn't have been out an extra $75. Very frustrating!

The plan is advertised to cover everything but the exception. If it is really a home warranty it should cover the home unless you deliberately destroy something. My plumbing leak was denied because the technician “thinks” a pan is rusted. You can’t get to pan without taking bathtub out. Why would rust be an exclusion around a bathroom. That is a natural process. I plan to never use Choice again. I would be better off to save my money and choose my own repair companies.
