    The contract reads "We are responsible for installing replacement equipment of similar features, capacity, and efficiency, but not for matching dimensions, brand or color." They did NOT replace my furnace with this in mind. The old furnace had a 2-stage burner and a variable speed fan motor. They replaced it with a unit that is a single-stage burner and has a single speed fan motor. The only thing that is close to matching is the efficiency, we had a 96% and they replaced it with a 95%. On top of all of that, it took them 11 days in the middle of winter to get it replaced.

    Would not recommend Choice Home Warranty to anyone. Denied a faulty water heater replacement due to see some rust in the technicians photo. What happens when you have water and metal you get rust. I asked for a review and when I spoke to the lady that has no clue about a water heater she was pretty rude and would not let me speak. They advertise that it does not matter how old the system is they will cover and that is bogus. The claims that I have take way too long to get a technician out like weeks on one and a week for another. I would advise doing a little more research before purchasing a home warranty with this company to make sure they will meet your expectations. Which mine has not been met yet and will not due to the water heater.

    Setting up the call was painless as usual very easy to make the request and immediate response.. We called the allocated contractor and explained our cars were locked in as the door opener had failed.     I think that I need to call a lawyer for justice in this matter. This is the 3rd time I placed a claim with you guys and only 1 time you came through with the service that I needed. This is my 2nd claim I submitted for my hot water heater and I was denied a replacement for my unit because it appeared that my unit has a preexisting problem, even though my claim that went through a yr ago for a repair to the same unit they fixed it, but on a different contract. I don’t understand it, I’ve not been back to work since Dec 21, 2021, because I work for the school system and got sick and tested positive for COVID and still hoarse, that’s why I can’t return to work yet, it’s winter time my pipes might freeze, I’m so upset. Besides the fact that I had an appointment with my case worker who didn’t call me until today. The repair knew that they denied me before I knew it. I’m totally at a loss with this.

My only complaint would be when they replace appliances and do reimbursement it’s less than what it costs in store and you wait 30 days, but it’s still cheaper than paying full price yourself. Come on, how long should someone wait for plumbing repair? 6 weeks is too long for someone to not even show up at all. Ashamed at Choice Home. She was basing the amount mainly on my model put out 50 decibels of sound.     Customer service approved work just to have claim adjuster to go back and forth about paying it. Invoice clearly state board fail to do it job. That’s what cause the issues.     The service technician was good. He identified the part that was defective, however he contacted me back to alert me the part for a 5-year old oven was no longer available. I received a settlement offer from Choice that wasn't the same type of unit. I declined and got a case manager. After meeting with the case manager, Choice agreed to pay 1/3 the cost to replace the appliance. That was the final offer and I could take it or leave it, but they weren't going to alot me any more money, so I'm out $3000 if I want to replace the appliance. What a scam!

    Bought our house as is and when we made a claim for heating system it was denied bc we didn’t have an inspection but we were not told hay the house. Had to have an inspection in order for anything to get covered and in Ky you don’t have to have one therefore it was a waste of money.

    Very simply would not cover refrigerator ice maker because refrigerator still makes food cold, how ** up is that? That's like a vehicle warranty not fixing your AC as long as the engine still works. They said that the ice maker is an added plus to the refrigerator but not what the refrigerator is designed to do.

    Updated on 03/15/2022: Since my last review on this company, explaining how I had 2 claims on 2 different appliances that I paid the deductible on, I still have 2 broken appliances. I placed the claim for my dryer in December and now since it's March. Pieces of my dryer are showing up in my laundry. So problem much worse than it was. Haven't been able to use my Ice maker since the middle of last year. I'm at the point now that my lawyer is being contacted. As I tried yesterday to speak to someone one last time. 1st call after waiting about 30 min, they direct me to a department that hangs up as soon as it picks up. 2nd time used the call back option that never called back. Please be wary about using this company. After reading the reviews, I'm not gonna say if those people are actually clients, all I can say is that I was and this is the real deal about Choice. If anyone from the company wishes to challenge anything that I just wrote, I'm waiting.

    Original Review: Months ago, I called about my fridge leaking. Mind you this was the 3rd time I had called them about the fridge. They wanted to continue to put band aides on the problem so I had already paid 120.00 in deductibles. The third time they sent someone to my home, he looked at the fridge and said he had to order the part. Paid another 60.00 he never came back. After multiple calls to the company, they sent a 2 more technicians to look. One of them never pulled the fridge from the wall. Long story short paid 60.00 no one ever fixed my fridge. In October I had to appeal in order to get them to fix a leak because the plumber placed a glove over the leak so that the water would just drain down instead of spraying everywhere.

    Beginning of December made a claim for my dryer. They scheduled the appointment for Christmas eve. 4 reschedules later someone actually shows up. Says he has to order part. We paid the 60.00. Technician was scheduled to come out yesterday. Haven't seen nor heard from him. Called and left a message haven't gotten a reply. Every time I call all I get is someone who simply wants to reschedule. Well after someone fails to show up 3 times I want to speak with someone about something more than rescheduling. But you won't be speaking with anyone in the states. Don't listen to these bots making fake claims about these companies. Definitely won't go back with Choice. I would strongly advise you to do the same.

    I’ve been with Choice Home Warranty for 5 years. During my contract period, I filed some repair claims and their customer service representatives processed most of my concerns in a professional and timely manner. Most of the service technicians were knowledgeable and reliable. In two instances, undesirable and unprofessional repair technicians were reported and replaced. When CHW was unable to locate a repair tech within 24 hours, I was given authorization to locate a certified repair tech of my choosing to submit a repair estimate.

    When my claim met the criteria of the contract, CHW authorized the cost of the parts/repair and agreed to reimburse reasonable costs for parts and labor within 30 days (minus the deductible).     It took a couple of phone calls to get a claim on this. Some employees don't listen well. I had clearly taken steps to prove that the issue was NOT the remote but one person stopped listening when they heard remote. My second phone call gave me a person who listened to my explanation that proved it was NOT the remote. Some communication issue with the first tech company as they never received the work order. So had to reschedule a second day. So the company has issues they need to work out as it frustrated us clients when these things happen. Oh and they are NOT an emergency company so plan on waiting to get help. I waited 18 days for a new water heater. Not the best at customer service.

    I requested a repair of my inoperable garage door opener under my warranty coverage. The repair person came out and said the motor had quit working but that it was doubtful the warranty would pay as they almost always decline coverage of anything. Then, I received an email stating the coverage was declined due to a prior repair attempt, which there wasn't one. I have lived in the home since it was built, both garage doors operated normally until 1 quit working. I opened the cover of the unit to look at it just as one would to change a lightbulb, see troubleshooting notes attached. Choice Home Warranty used this to decline my coverage stating that I should not have opened the unit. They are a complete scam and should repair or replace the item as covered by my warranty coverage. Their using the fact that I looked inside the garage unit as rationale to deny the complaint is unethical and poor business practice.

    On 11/22/2021 Alex told me that I could select the heating company if they met CHW standards. He said he must call Upstate Solution Services and call me back.     They refuse to cover a broken pipe mechanism because a small piece of the mechanism was "outside the foundation" (the handle is outside, the entire mechanism is inside) and Champagne (the agent assigned to my appeal) refused to even offer a tiny bit of customer service but kept to the script 100%, It was a big waste of my time. She gave off a "I could not care less" attitude.

    Not sure what the point of them arranging this call if they were just going to read and re-read the denial email over and over. That said, all the techs have been great which is why they got an extra star but not sure the point of having a home warranty if each call you have to hope and pray it's a covered failure because they will interpret their coverage differently each time.

    First, let me say that the technicians affiliated with Choice Home Warranty seem nice enough. However, the warranty itself is just shy of mediocre. First use - re-key the locks. According to the technicians, the previous owners of this newly purchased house put some kind of obscure German-manufactured handles on the doors that couldn't be re-keyed to match the deadbolts, so after paying for the service call ($65) plus an additional amount of money, we still have two different keys.

    Next use - thermostat isn't working. Paid technician's service call of $65 to learn that Choice Warranty doesn't cover the thermostat because the previous owners incorrectly preset and precariously wired a programmable thermostat. An additional $100 later, we have a working thermostat. Our only choice was to go ahead and fix it since the cooling function was heating the house to well above 78 degrees and the heating function was cooling the house to 57 degrees, before we finally just turned the whole thing off.

    I'm not really sure of the value of our inspection (unrelated to Choice and another whole topic in itself) or this warranty, since so far, neither item that appeared to be covered under the warranty actually was covered. The furnace is quite old, which is the reason we went with the warranty in the first place - that, and the previous owner paid for it. When it comes time to renew, I'm feeling doubtful about doing so, since the warranty itself doesn't appear to be very helpful. My guess is there will be some reason why the furnace is also not covered.

    The only part of the experience that I am dissatisfied with is the length of time (30 days) to get an e-check for Lowe's. My fridge is inoperable and I have to wait to apply this check to the purchase. If I were to go out and buy a refrigerator before I get the check, it can not be applied to the purchase. However, I can use this check for anything else at Lowe's, but all I need is a REFRIGERATOR. I have called Choice twice about this, and I am told the same thing. The wait is the problem.

    The tech who came to my home was excellent, my case manager was excellent. Although, I had called my case manager and emailed her to get clarity on this, but apparently when your claim is closed, she never responded. Then I get an email from Angi, and some other company wanting to know my experience with Choice, but I have not responded to these surveys because even though my claim is closed, my problem is not resolved. This began on 12/22/2021, case mgr submitted info for e-check on 12/28/2021 and I'm told I have to wait until 1/28/2021 before I actually get the e-check. It just seems like if my claim is approved, I should not have to wait this long for a essential appliance.

    Over two weeks ago, I requested service for some leaky faucets. A vendor was assigned but due to something, the actual repair was worked on the second or third reschedule.     Choice Home Warranty is a joke and absolute fraud in my humble opinion! What is a Home Warranty? A home warranty is a service contract that covers the repair or replacement of important appliances and systems components that break down over time. My heating system went down right after a major snow storm hit our area. It was very cold outside not to mention inside my house.

    Choice Home Warranty took 7 days before they ever sent a technician to my house. Had I not been calling them on status updates I don't believe one would have ever made it. The first one called me while en route and said he was going to be late but he asked me to download a cash app and send the service fee to him so that this is taken care of and once he arrives he can get straight to work. He took my $85 from the Cash App and never even showed up to my house. Nor, did he reimburse me the $85!

    I discussed this with Choice Home Warranty and they did absolutely nothing about it except tell me once they get a technician to my house I won't have to pay the $85 Service Fee again. So the Second technician arrives takes about 15 min to look at the heater and provides his report back to Choice Home Warranty. Immediately I get an email from Choice Home Warranty denying my claim. They would not cover the cost to repair or replace my heater, they point to a clause in the contract that states if they find rust then they will not cover the repair or replacement.

    Keep in mind my house was built 18 years ago and the heater is the original heater. They claim due to lack of maintenance is the reason they are denying the claim. I cant speak for the previous home owners but since I bought the house 3 years ago I have had an HVAC maintenance contract in place. So they are just flat wrong! I even showed the technician the sticker on the front of the heater of the company that I used to inspect and maintain my HVAC. If you are considering Choice Home Warranty take it at your own risk! I paid $2400 to Choice Home Warranty for the ease of knowing that if something in my home breaks down they would be there to help. It's not true! Choice Home Warranty contracts basically cover them to not have to pay big ticket items like a heater. Don't sign a contract with them because they will screw you like they did me!

    They claim: "We're Here for you 24/7. We've Handled more than 4,500,000 Service Requests. We have a Nationwide Network of more than 25,000 Contractors. We've Covered more than 1,600,000 Homes Across the USA. We have Thousands of 5 Star Ratings from our Customers." Trust me when I say it's all a lie to get your money! Don't do it!
