    Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) in one of my 5-yr-old A/C units needs to be replaced. Issue was found not to be "normal wear and tear"; therefore, claim was denied.     I'm dissatisfied with the settlement on my dishwasher replacement. My settlement was only half of what a dishwasher costs. You should not advertise if we can't fix it, we'll replace it. That is false advertisement. Where can you buy a dishwasher for $300.00 unless you find a used one somewhere. If you want to lose customers this is the perfect way to do it with false advertisement.

    The technician was excellent, on time, knowledgeable, professional. Choice determined that my refrigerator needed to be replaced. They offered an eCard to Lowe’s. Amount given was low, could not replace the refrigerator at that price with a similar model, but I was okay with that. What upsets me is that they said it will take up to 30 days to receive the eCard! That’s ridiculous! It should be able to be sent via email within minutes.

    The technician was not the issue. He was very thorough and accurate. He found that our only three-year-old Samsung dishwasher needed replacing. However, Choice emailed us with an offer of only $246. to replace the appliance at Lowe’s via a gift card. Dishwashers are over $500. and much higher. We contacted Choice to let them know and was told they were giving that in lieu of a replacement. Strange because our policy reads they would replace an item if it could not be repaired. We paid over $1,000 for this home warranty and it’s a scam. We couldn’t kept our money and just paid elsewhere for a repair or replaced a defective item on our own! Plus they charged us a $65. service fee for the dishwasher to be looked at! I am very displeased with their untruthfulness!

    My first experience with CHW was amazing. The technician who came out to repair my dryer was on time, was friendly, knowledgeable and did an excellent job. I highly recommend him. My second experience has been dreadful to say the least. The technician they sent out to replace my bathroom exhaust fan turned out to be a documented ripoff artist. He was convicted of ripping off homeowners in Scranton back in 2015. He collected my service fee and never returned. I complained to the company, and they were very gracious, and told me they would send out another technician and waive my service fee. Excellent customer service.

    However, the second technician, is someone new to the business, and is not very reliable and dependable. I had two appointments scheduled, and the technician didn't show up for either. Had excuses for both, but never reached out to tell me they couldn't make it, or weren't going to be here (even though I took off from work two times & a no show), until I called CHW to ask what was going on. I was going to renew my Choice Home Warranty subscription for another year, and even though their customer service people are amazing, I have decided I am probably not going to renew. It's a shame because the company has a lot of potential and a lot of good people, I just had a very bad experience with this last claim and the two technicians that were assigned to handle my claim.

    Over the last year the problem with my a/c has been that when you switch from heat to a/c the a/c did not work. CHW has sent out several different companies through the year. One guy left all his tools and gauges when he left. Another came out and just rolled up some wire then left and after being called back by CHW several times and them not showing up they wanted me to find someone. I tried but after talking to several and all saying they would not work with CHW so they sent a different guy that changed the circuit board and a switch. Now it is spring again and the a/c don't come on again and they send out the same people that would not return or call to discuss the ac. Now I am told I need a whole new ac and air handler. While I will only be paying a little over 2000 dollars for a new unit I feel that the ac could have been fixed if reputable people had been called in the first place.

    I do like Choice Home Warranty. ALL WARRANTY COMPANIES have issues. I have had 4 different companies and I have to say CHW is the best. I do live way out away from everywhere so to get someone out here for a special or older appliance is difficult. I have had stackable (!) W/D, AC, Dishwasher, fan without electricity, and refrigerator all repaired with choice over the last 5 years. Every single thing was repaired quickly and easily. This company (and all warranty companies) is NOT an emergency repair service. They won't get someone to your house on January 1 at 7:30 am to fix your HVAC, they just won't. BUT, they will reimburse you. (Not for the emergency call, though!) I mean, you can't really ask for more. I got the service because I have a 1979 house with appliances over 10 years old... and yes, they have repaired or replaced many things. As far as companies go, this one has been the best of the 4 other companies I have had.

    Gentleman was very insistent on getting words exact and I understand the need for that. I felt he was somewhat rude and I am sure he thought I was. Came down to Symantec. Did actually have two separate problems. Have active repairs on my wall ovens and despite me spelling OVENS, the lady had turned worker order in as cooktop. Had to order parts. I received two packages parts. After two calls to you to let them know parts had come to me. On day repair person supposed to come; did not show up. Next evening, actually received text that he had ordered parts and when received would come back to repair. So I called “Sears” who answers as A & D service center and computer answering says “cooktop” parts ordered.

    Gentleman did his job and was helpful just seemed a bit rough but not a good day for me and I let it get to me. The problem is in tub/shower. The showerhead is part of the faucet. I have had this problem before and is actually in Valve and hole has to be cut in wall behind faucet to get to affected area. He just wanted know I was 100% sure it was faucet not shower.     I picked 3 because we were not notified by anyone of when the plumber was coming until we called again after a few days. The plumber who arrived was extremely nice and fixed one issue completely and told us to let him know if the handle wasn’t totally fixed on the shower because he didn’t have the right parts on his truck.     Moved in new home 3-1-22. 3-17-22 Dishwasher quit draining. Called in claim. Service tech came and said needed new sump pump and would order and return next week. Paid $65.00 deductible. On April 1 received email from Choice saying “good news”. They were replacing my dishwasher. They offered $246.00 on a Lowe’s gift card. Cheapest dishwasher Lowes had was $390. And with tax and installation would be well over $500.00. Did not accept settlement and had a call with claim “specialist”.

    On call was told that the $246.00 price was what they could buy for. I asked them to please buy it then and install it as the day “ fix or replace”. I was told because they could buy for $246 didn’t mean I could and all they pay is what they can get them for but they would not get one for me. Said I’d have to buy where I could. New Jersey phone number and I felt I was dealing with the Mafia. Told them settlement was not acceptable and was told basically, take it or leave it.

Repair was completed but instead of spending the extra couple dollars for another shower knob, I have two different colored knobs in my shower. I know this is minor but it’s just a simple thing. Now I have to go purchase another one to match. Also, they left their bag of trash and told my daughter “I’m leaving this here.     Horrible company, unfortunately, they know how to get away with not paying your claims as soon as they have your money. They say they make appointments that do not exist, they send incompetent technicians that make matters worse and do not take responsibility for the damage done. I had a leaking toilet, plumber came and said he was going to take the toilet off and replace the wax ring, left the toilet shaky. I told him about it, got upset, left, came back and put some caulking around it.

    2/12 month after the toilet leaks again, there are watermarks on my ceiling downstairs, make another claim. This plumber said that the toilet was not even seating on the wax ring to begin with. Now they don't want to approve because the previous plumber did not report that he replaced the wax ring (so they say) and 30 days have passed since the job was done... go figure! Now I have to pay again for a job that was done incorrectly and on top of that my ceiling is damaged. It is all their fault!

    I was under the assumption that this so called warranty would either fix or replace your appliance. Not the case. If they say they will replace it, beware, they will offer you gift cards in leu of replacement according to what they feel is the proper amount of your appliance. They don't actually replace. So my offer was first 249.00 to replace a broken dishwasher. I complained about this so they upped the amount to 357.00. Wow, good luck to me finding a replacement dishwasher for 357.00. So out of pocket was not only 60.00 for service tech, I will have to pay another 200.00 or so to get a new dishwasher. This is not what I had signed up for as far as a warranty company goes.

    Totally poor when you open a case you receive a repair person email with a time window and day of the repair person's window. Have had that not being honored to where you have to call the company directly to gain a correct repair person date and time. I have two insured properties, have paid 5 or more years in advance for both of them, made two different claims and both have been denied. My next step would be to claim my money back that I hope would be easier than claiming for service.

    The service tech who came out to fix the dryer was timely and professional. He figured out what was wrong, ordered the parts and scheduled an appointment to complete the repair. Totally happy! Now, as for the ceiling fan/light, 3 appointments have been scheduled so far, I waited at home during the time windows, and no one ever showed up. When I called the service provided the first 2 said they never accepted the job order and the 3rd said we weren't available, to which I said I was home waiting and even left a message asking what time you thought you might show up. He called me back the next day saying we weren't available, to which I said I was home and if he checked his messages he would see I called him asking when they would arrive. It's been 39 days and I'm still waiting for a service tech appointment that shows up. This lack of service is completely unacceptable.

    Not happy that it took so long to get dryer repaired. There were a few trips for the same problem without resolve. When you changed the service to Sears, the job got done but it took too long for that to happen. First delay was to get an appointment, then to order the parts and reschedule the repair. L-K is a good company but I think that on the second call for the same problem, they should have made the temporary fix but ordered the obviously needed parts.

    I am very dissatisfied with the customer service I received when I contacted CHW for my washer issues. My first claim was canceled on March 8, 2022 and rescheduled for March 17th. CHW decided to pay for a new washer with an e-gift card from Lowe’s that will come within 30 days. I will have to go to a relative home to wash clothes until my gift card arrives. I would not recommend this home warranty to anyone. If I could select 0 as my rating I would do so.

    The technician was great, confirmed that the compressor was bad. Highly recommend the technician. Choice Home Warranty on the other hand I will not recommend to anyone at this point. I thought that my refrigerator would be replaced but instead they offer me less than half what it will cost to replace the fridge. The person assigned to settle the clam kept saying that they are only required to provide a product that is the same size and has the same features as what I have. That is fine but with what they offer I cannot get but an apartment size refrigerator.

    It took them 5 calls and 2 emails to get a response from the adjuster and then my wife and to call another number and have someone get a message to her that our refrigerator had been broken for a week. 11 days later I get an email that within 30 days they will send out the check that will not replace my refrigerator. I have to add $1,000.00 dollars to what they offer and wait 30 more days to get a new refrigerator. I have had other Home warranties and they actually paid for and had the item delivered and installed but this one doesn't pay to replace the item or have it delivered and installed.

    Seems I am overpaying for coverage, when I will only receive patching of a leak instead of replacing the broken part. It's not like I'm asking to have the entire system replaced, only the leaking part that will (most likely) leak again and cost more money in the long run. Very disappointing and short sighted.     The trouble started right at the beginning with scheduling. Once we figured out Home Choice had an incorrect email for me (required 2 different calls), the plumber assigned to my case didn't show up for the first appointment. Just didn't show up. I'm not sure he would have stopped by if I hadn't called the main line to confirm the second appointment. The plumber who arrived quickly identified the issue but Home Choice declined to cover the work. So, for all that trouble I'm out $65 service fee and I have to find someone to fix the problem.
