    No help after spending over 4 hrs on phone trying to get Choice to send someone to repair a gas leak in furnace after Columbia Gas of Ohio unplugged furnace until leak fixed. It was 4 nights of freeze warnings and I am 73 yrs old and was very cold. Shame on you. I am researching other home warranty companies to make a switch.

    The unit was out of Freon but you would not permit the tech to run a leak test to see where the leak is. The person that talked to the tech said it was from rust and corrosion. You should approve the leak test run. The case manager assigned gave her name, phone and email and said to schedule a 15 min call which is now set for Friday afternoon. She also said I could email her. Two emails sent and no response has been received. Send a tech to run the leak test, then decide the cause and make a decision. We have been without AC since sometime Friday.

    This is a crook company. This is a crook company. They convinced me for accepting contract bay saying that they would do annual check for HVAC system. After signing contract they retracted. On 17th April 2022, I created a claim by phone to fix my heating system. In the morning when I called again to make sure, I was told that a tech has been assigned will come tomorrow. The company claim same day service and in cold time I had to keep my heating system off and the company offer me Tech for next day. I have 8 month old a toddler but they didn't buzz. The tech itself was a crook and asked $100 extra if I want it same day, seriously? They promise sky, but clip your feathers after give in.

    I received a phone call from (984) 248-6910 to ask if I would be interested in home insurance on my appliances. I played along and they gave me a name I give out to Scam callers to verify my identity. They then connected me to the Choice Home Warranty sales division who tried to sign me up for their services. I asked why they used a third party call center to call customers and she responded "Because is works". I asked her about their companies 1.05/5 from 2500+ reviews on the BBB website and she stated, "We don't pay $10,000 to remove negative comments like other companies. So we use ConsumerAffairs." So here I am to report that this company uses Asian call center to circumvent the Do Not Call List and call customers to sell their product. Buyers Beware.

    Victor with Mighty Man was very professional however we are completely dissatisfied with Choice Home Warranty because they wouldn’t cover my ceiling fans after I was told they would when purchasing the policy. I was told if they couldn’t fix them they would replace them with comparable fans. My fans were 52 inch 5 blade with decorative lights. If they would have replaced them, they would replace them with 42 inch 4 blade and schoolhouse light. THAT IS NOT COMPARABLE!

    Our issue is not with Sears and their technicians. It’s with Choice Warranty. We have had technicians to our house for this issue at least five times. I think more. Yesterday the technician called Choice and said he was unable to fix the dishwasher. Choice Warranty reassigned the task. That no one works for us disappoints. Has been out of service since mid March. They’ve spent 10 hours working on it. We have spent 20+ hours on the phone with both Choice and Sears. I also had to call a plumber to stop the leak on the hardwood floors over the weekend which was a result of a technician working on the dishwasher. At this point we just went out and bought a new dishwasher last night. I would hope that Choice will reimburse us for that. Besides being reimbursed for the dishwasher I would like the money for the plumber I had to call in.

    We have been CHW customers for three years now. Only one other service call during these three years has been below what we consider standard. Today's service call was greatly substandard. Our technician seemed to know very little, if any, about our make and model of oven. We described in detail the problem we are having, yet he showed no understanding or comprehension of how to resolve the issue(s). Granted, the issue did not present itself while he was present; however, he made no attempt to check systems, troubleshoot, or investigate whether other ovens like ours had reported similar problems. We are very disappointed with the service we hoped to have received today. In fairness, our copay should be refunded, and another technician who is knowledgeable about JennAire ovens should be dispatched.

    I bought a Home Warranty in Early February and in April I has a toilet leaking that needed repair. I submitted a claim online and it took 8 days for the vendor to address the issue. Then, the vendor in question exceeded 150$ for the service and I was forced to pay anything above the cap. According to the company in the first 3 months of your policy you have caps for repair of any and all items covered by the policy; which means you will have to pay out of pocket more than the deductible every time w/in the first 3 months. This is ridiculous. The rep who sold me the policy never told me this or I would have never bought a policy from these guys. I am furious. I feel cheated.

    Claim Determination #**. The technician arrived at our home took the payment and left. The technician made the repairs and asked for the co-pay and left. The technician is now saying that we owe them additional money due to the claim being denied. The damage was caused after the 30-day waiting period. The garage door stopped working while the button door was being opened. This implies that it happened due to normal wear and tear.

    I only authorized the paying of the co-pay. If it does not fall into the coverage I am extremely disappointed and I would wonder what actually is covered under a garage door opener. In any event it seems and appears to be a training issue between the technician and the warranty company and not understanding the proper procedures in which to get these things approved. I do not understand how to respond to pay the vendor directly after paying the deductible and then leaving my residence. The company has changed names multiple times and has horrible reviews. Choice obviously didn’t screen this vendor.

    My claim was denied and I filed an appeal (4/13/22) I had a phone appeal with Zaria **. She said she was the highest authority on the appeal and it was denied. I told her I planned on filing a BBB and consumeraffairs complaint. She did not care. She said that she doesn't work with the vendors and that it would be up to me to work this out with them.

    I explained to her that I was not vague on what was damaged and needed to be replaced. When I placed the claim online it was very clear what was wrong. She said someone must not have read it carefully before dispatching it. Then the technician must not have been aware of seemingly decided to ignore the steps for them to be paid by your company. Both of these are not my fault. I did not hire the company or authorize anything other than choice. I am Not surprised choice's unreputable company didn’t follow policy.

    My microwave claim was denied as it was a countertop type. This issue I had was that it had a built-in kit so it was used as a built-in. I did not know it was a countertop until contractor took grill off. Somewhere in the process, before I pay my $60 service charge, CHW should advise me my appliance is not covered — I paid $80 (including tip) to find out my item was not covered. CHW is splitting hairs when my microwave is actually listed as a "countertop/built-in" in the manual.     I was asked by Choice Home Warranty (CHW) to find my own refrigerator repair person because they couldn't find one for me. Did so. Tech came out, was very professional, advised of what the issue was, called CHW with description of needed repairs and was told they had to be uploaded to www.chwclaims.com. Did so. Got a call within about 10 minutes approving the repairs EXCEPT the thawing of the part that was covered in ice and the CHW rep said we had to thaw by hand.

    The repair tech said that all of our food in the freezer would go bad and the CHW rep said that's the way it is and that I could them put in a claim for the bad food. Waited for the thawing to happen, the repair tech then had to come back and replace the part. He did so. I am in the process of taking pictures of all the thawed, now bad food to provide CHW for reimbursement. Surely the cost to cover the tech thawing out the frozen area would have been less than the value of the food I will have to be reimbursed for and surely would have cost me less time and aggravation. It appears saving money isn't even a priority for CHW.

Choice warranty decided that it would cost too much to have it fixed and chose to have the stovetop replaced.     I will not renew with CHW. I called for a repair of a washing machine, tech came out promptly, said CHW would get back with me soon. Received an email in a couple of days saying you would replace the washer. The issue is the amount offered doesn't come close to what it would cost to replace. Was given a link to set up appointment - first time available was 2 weeks out - not acceptable.

    There was also a number to call that stated the representative would call back - generally within 24 hours. After three calls, there was no call back, period. Two weeks later a representative called and was really not interested in the issue. Not interested in costs to replace, just mainly said that was the offer, take it. I believe this is advertisement misrepresentation. This is the second time I have had this issue, the first was on a dryer. I took a loss on that one too.

    The offer was $547, lowest price locally was $799 plus installation, haul off and taxes, nearly $900. Was told no parts available - I have confirmed parts are readily available - I don't like being lied to. The machine was repairable, just cheaper to send a partial payment to "replace". I am on my second term of 3 years. I will be looking for an alternative when this contract expires.

    I made a claim for my dishwasher not working. Paid the $65 service fee to have it checked. He said there was a bad circuit board and he’d turn in his work order. CHW came back saying “great news, we’re going to replace your unit!” Then I read the email and “replacing” the unit was giving me a $248 GC to Lowe's. The closest dishwasher I could find to what I’ve got, was on sale for over $800. So I request to speak to a claim specialist, select a date and time, I get the phone calls 20 minutes after the scheduled time, which was annoying seeing as I planned my morning around this 15 minute phone call.

    The claim specialist, I don’t know what her name was, was asking me for all the features of the dishwasher, I provided CHW with the brand and serial number, so they should’ve known all this information without having to ask me. She told me the max she could offer was $358, I questioned as to why that was the max and she immediately put me on hold. After holding for 5 minutes I get disconnected. I call back in, speak to someone and they were able to get a message to the claim specialist and she called me back about 30 minutes later. I feel the customer service I received was poor at best. Now my real issue is the amount.

    I was not expecting 100% replacement, but assuming CHW actually knows how much appliances cost, I was expecting 50-60% of the cost covered. Now if I want the equivalent of what I’ve got, I have to come out of pocket over $500 plus the service fee I had to pay. I’m hoping this will reach someone and they’ll look at my claim and see how ridiculous $358 is for my claim. This home warranty came with the house I bought over the summer, I was planning on renewing it, but if this is the type of service to be expected I’ll probably let it lapse. Hope someone makes this right. Or at least acknowledges how ridiculous the amount it.

    Response from CHW was slow at first. A claim was submitted 4-7-22 in am. Assigned a Handyman on 4-8-22 for appt on 4-11-22. Due to weather, Technician did not arrive until 4-12. Handyman was unable to return to make repairs on 4-12 (problems getting equipment). Rescheduled for 4-13, but truck problems occurred & they stated will attempt to return at the end of the day. It has been one week without toilets, and we are expecting 13 out-of-state guests who are staying for one week.

    Short Story: I am extremely dissatisfied with this warranty company and my case manager. If you are going to provide a low offer based on an alleged cost to you, then you better have the actual data and evidence to support that offer. If I can’t find a $191 microwave that is the same specs as mine and you can’t either, then retail value is the cost to replace. Not some arbitrary pricing guideline. The case manager was rude, unprofessional, and had no data or evidence to support the unreasonable low cash offers.

    Long Story: The control panel on my Whirlpool microwave is starting to malfunction. Some buttons work and some don’t. I did some research and my current microwave 30516AS was discontinued by the manufacturer. The manufacturer’s recommended replacement model 30516HZ is $350. Choice offered me $191 cash for me to replace it myself. I asked to have a case manager assigned so I could discuss the offer. The case manager called and was initially very professional. I explained the situation and was told that the $191 offer was Choice Home Warranty’s cost to replace the microwave so that’s all I was going to get. I asked the case manager if she could provide the brand and model of the microwave so I could go out and purchase it.

    She could not and said the offer was based on pricing guidelines given to them. I said “No problem. Which microwave did they use for the pricing guidelines?” She said she didn’t have a make and model and it was based on CHW’s cost. I asked for her to have CHW purchase the alleged $191 microwave and have it delivered to my house.

    By this point, the case manager was rude and uncooperative. She said we don’t ship appliances to the customer, we only provide the cash offer based on our pricing sheet. I asked for the data to back up the value assigned on the pricing sheet. At this point, her response to everything was “I’ll notate that on your account.” I asked to talk to a manager and she said she was the manager. I clarified my request that I wanted to talk to her supervisor and she said her supervisor does not talk to customers and she wouldn’t transfer me to that person.
