    After I had the same problem over and over again and the past so called plumbers just snaked the drain and told me everything is fine, I told them no just snaking it is not doing it. The problem comes right back. I was told Choice will only let them snake the drain. I finally had somebody out who listened to me and cleared out the vents and the problem is taken care of.     My electric in our home was not working properly. At the same time our hot water tank stopped working all together. I scheduled service tickets for both items. I was able to get appointments within 48hrs. But fortunately it was my Electric Service Provider that was working in our neighborhood. Power was restored to our home.     I had a malfunctioning fridge. The service tech came out I paid the $85 to come out. The tech said it needed replacement. I had a side by side with water and ice in the door. It was also a counter depth (more expensive). But being a counter depth it was only 21 cubic foot. Choice would only allow $750 even though it cost me $2,500’. Not fair.

    Guy that came out said that it was an issue of the boiler not having enough water. He turned the valve to force water to it and and ended making a mess in my basement floor of black gunk water that I had to clean up. Idk if that was necessarily the issue, he said that’s all it was and nothing else needs to be done. He didn’t provide any type of explanation as to why it wasn’t getting enough water when turned on as this is something that should be self regulated, not something I should have to monitor anytime I turn my heat on. I won’t even necessarily know if this is the case and it’s fixed until fall rolls around again and we need heat, as it is now warming up. I hope that he was correct but quite pessimistic, and felt that a more thorough check should of been done.

    Plumber was great, but it took 48 hours between when Choice Warranty was called and plumber could make it to our house. Water was coming into house, with a leak in a pipe in the wall, so having to continuously for 48 hours soak up water was unacceptable in my mind. Carpet is now ruined and walls need repaired due to delay.

    I did not receive an adequate amount of money to replace the broken refrigerator. The amount provided by CHW was about one-third of the cost of replacing it with a similar-sized refrigerator with the same options. CHW provided no access to where they get their replacement pricing, which Stanley said was a wholesale price. If CHW is using wholesale pricing for replacement costs, then the client (me) needs to have the same access for the replacement to be an even and fair transaction.

    Any time we have had to file a claim, it has been with the most unreliable of services. I had to be on the phone every day for a month to get an appeal through, and a new service technician, for an AC claim. Customer service is horrible. Not only do they not understand or empathize with the issues, they make no effort to improve the situations. Only by consistently complaining and making aware of issues was I able to get anything close to a resolution. Why do we pay $80/month for a warranty service, to wait a month to get a major issue resolved?

    CHW is responsive to my online claim requests. In general a technician is assigned to my claim within a few hours. I have yet to be assigned to a “big name” company but the technicians sent have taken care of the problem. On occasion a technician cannot be located. I find the reimbursement process arduous. Read the contract thoroughly, get familiar with what is NOT covered and contact them when you have an issue that is covered. I found CHW to be a good investment.

    1st technician had issues with CHW policies and procedure, deductible and payment policy. Claims he could not get a response to his concerns from CHW. I basically had to threaten legal action to get CHW to get a technician that would work with you. 2nd tech was fine, found problem and got quick response with authorization to order parts. This change however added a week to getting to this stage. We have been with ability to wash clothes for about 3 weeks. This is very inconvenient. You need to prescreen technicians to avoid unnecessary delays.

    I believe I was deceived by CHW's sales pitch. I find that almost every time I put in a claim, it is denied for "No Coverage". They say they cover items but in their policy (which you receive a full coverage disclosure document after your purchase) they list more parts of the appliance that is not covered than is. So, chances are you pay your diagnosis / trip fee and for the majority, if not all, of the repairs, because they will find a clause that says "not covered." Repair techs have expressed difficulty communicating with CHW and getting authorization for repairs. I say, save your money and choose your own repairman, as you are going to pay for the repairs anyway.

    Our garbage disposal was humming but not grinding. We tried everything to get it to work before filing a claim. Everything was handled via email until the professional was around 30 minutes away. He followed instructions and was not able to get the disposal to grind.     My microwave has been glitching for weeks. Sometimes you put something in, close the door, hit the time and start and the machine tells you "open/close door". It doesn't seem to realize about 1/2 the time that the door has been opened or closed. After microwaving something and removing it sometimes the screen will still show "END" as if the food is still in there. I called CHW to have them send someone to repair it, the technician was at my house the very next day. Let me be clear, The technician was absolutely phenomenal and my negative review is of CHW not the appliance repair company they contracted.

    After the technician looked over the microwave, he advised me that the manufacturer knew about a flaw in that mechanism and have made new latch systems to replace it with. He also advised me this is normal wear and tear and nothing I did could have made this better or worse, it was inevitably going to fail. He submitted the claim to CHW with the recommendation that it be covered under my policy. They chose to deny the claim saying that they do not cover 'damage', only normal wear and tear. He then called CHW to better discuss the claim and was treated rudely by the phone operator and then was laughed at as he tried to explain this case.

    I then submitted an appeal and advised that this is not damage to the machine, it is a mechanical issue that is caused by failing parts. I was advised that because the claim was submitted as a part having been 'warped' that is was deemed damage and not covered. After speaking with the technician again, he advised that it is a plastic functional piece that has been warped due to the heat created by the microwave.     Choice Home Warranty is terrible. The entire process does not work. People are argumentative and do not respond with correct details. After 8 phone calls I tried to cancel and they would not even do that. They offered cash to resolve the issue and it amounted to 50% of the replacement cost. I have dealt with American Home Shield and although not great I would recommend them before I ever renew with Choice. I could go on for pages reviewing the details of the 10 calls I had to make to get an agreement. Ultimately I had to buy the appliance myself and get it installed. A total waste of time trying to deal with Choice. Stay Away

    This is the first time I have utilized my home warranty and I am not totally pleased with the process. When I submitted my claims, I received quick email responses that my appointments had been made, but no call to see if appointment dates would work with my personal schedule. I did receive a call from one of the assigned professionals and we did set up an appointment that fit my schedule. The plumber came out on a Wednesday to fix a leaking shower head; he fixed a part of the problem and said some parts needed to be replaced, but they had to get approval from the warranty company.

    Note: the plumber was very nice, timely and professional. I thought the whole purpose of the warranty was to fix what was wrong and a week later, I still have the leaking shower head and I still have not heard if the problem is going to be fixed. The second claim, I personally reached out to the second plumber (broken garbage disposal) and I told him the assigned date would not work and we rescheduled to the day my son works from home; well, I called my son just an hour ago, to see how everything went and he said no one even showed up. I have not received a call from the "professional" to explain why he was a no show. I will follow-up with Choice, but definitely not a good first impression.

    The first part of the process went well. The repair company diagnosed the problem (a broken condenser) and sent in the paperwork to CHW. CHW approved replacement of the condenser and sent me a contract to approve that and additional work required. Since then, nothing has happened. A service call was scheduled for April 25 between 11 and 3. No one came. The repair company knew nothing about it.

    I called CHW and the telephone representative tried but was of little help. Subsequently I was e-mailed be a CHW representative who were supposed to resolve whatever issue there was. One CHW representative was supposed to call me at 4:45 April 27. No one called nor tried to reschedule. A second CHW representative sent me an e-mail. I immediately e-mailed back asking that she call me. Nothing. I am at a loss as to what to do now.

    Very simple, I have had 3 claims and all had been refused due to corrosion or refrigerant contamination. The A/C and refrigerator were broken and your policy states if broken you will fix. Somehow the exclusions were omitted in your spiel to purchase service. There will be no renewal of the policy and anybody I speak to will be advised and informed as to the policy is worthless. $1176.00 out the window and nothing covered. If a mower went by the condensing unit and threw a rock that would not be covered because it was not a failure of the product, it would have been an outside force. Warranty is worthless.

    To date, my fridge has caused me to call you with a claim three times for not freezing and cooling. The first two times it suddenly came back to life after three or four days. Each of those times I cancelled the claim. During the ensuing time period, while waiting for the repairman to arrive, I lost most of the frozen food and some of the other items in the fridge. This latest "adventure" is different. The repairman arrived the next day after my claim was filed. He determined the cooling control switches were at fault. He checked for the availability of the replacement part, while he was here. With not finding the part on his phone, he stated he would check further at his shop. It is important to note this fridge was built in 2003.

    As it stands now, after SEVEN workdays since his visit, Choice Warranty has not received the paperwork regarding this claim from the Sears Service repairman. However, yesterday I became proactive and called the office of Sears Service. They sent me the receipt, via email, of the repairman's visit. At the bottom of that receipt the words appear "Part Unavailable". I called Choice Home Warranty after forwarding that receipt to them and the response of the person on the end of the line said your company was reaching out to the repairman for further details and information. The fridge is 19 years old. I believe it has reached the end of its lifespan.

    My AC repair parts are no longer supported, so the entire unit has to be replaced. I am very disappointed the total cost is not covered. AC units are purchased and installed as a complete unit, the inside and outdoor components go hand in hand as one unit. To split the install cost in half doesn’t make any sense, nor is it a sound business decision. It is also false advertising since you claim full replacement is part of the warranty. My entire system and every component would have to fail all at once to qualify for full replacement. That is not realistic or fair to the customer. Again, it’s false and deceptive advertising.

    The technician was fine. My rating is regarding Choice Home Warranty yourselves. A decision was made not to repair or replace my appliance. A decision I filed a protest and spoke with Melony. In my opinion having owned three other homes with the same type of cooktop, the cooktop failed under normal circumstances. Melony was just doing her job to deny my claim. I am very disappointed in Choice Home Warranty. Your company was pretty highly recommended but after this experience, I can not recommend CHW.

    My experience was frustrating. The way I read my contract with CHW, they will repair or replace any appliance, up to $1000.00. They told me our dishwasher could not be repaired and offered $256 as replacement offer. We can’t touch our existing Kitchen Aide dishwasher for that amount. I informed Brittany it would cost us $889.00 at RC Wiley to obtain a replacement. She then told me Clause F allowed them to offer the 256.00 in lieu of replacing our dishwasher. Just started talking over each other at this point. Finally I told her just to send the $256.00 dollars and hung up. Very disappointed in her lack of customer skills!

    Was disappointed with the resolution provided. I have had this service for many years. Time and time again received little in return, yet I kept hoping next service would be better. This incident left me with a refrigerator that was deem motor was not worth fixing. However, the replacement came as a e-check to Lowe's. The amount was for $495.00. The amount was much lower than expected. The insult added was not having a choice to use the funds anywhere I choose in order to stretch the amount I was given. I could not find a "scratch-and-dent at Lowe's for price even if I added funds to purchase the size I had. I would ask all replacement funds be given to the policy holder to be used anywhere.

    I was only supposed to be charged an $85 copays to the subcontractor air conditioning company. However the technician lied and said I had to pay an additional fee of $250 and he put that on my credit card. When I complained to Choice Home Warranty, they said I should only have been charged the copays. However they told me that they could not get credit my account since it was already charged to my account. I got a different story when I called the A/C company. Now I am in the position of having to dispute the overcharge with my credit card company. Right now I am furious as to how this was handled. If Choice Home Warranty comes through for me and gets my credit card charge credited to my account I will update this review.
