    I had a problem with one of the vendors and had to keep calling and telling Choice, and getting them to bug the vendor. It was a long drawn-out thing and they eventually had to send another vendor. It was my air conditioner, so that was no fun. I had a different issue with my air conditioner and I had to go through the process of trying to apply online. It said I had an air conditioner ticket in the last 30 days and I can't submit another one.

    When I called, I had to go through the whole thing again on the phone. It was automated before you get to the point where you can’t submit another air conditioner ticket. Finally, I said I needed a real person. And I finally got one and I was able to get my ticket submitted for a completely different air conditioner issue. That was a little bit frustrating. Choice is supposed to be one of the better companies. I have a couple more tickets I have to submit and I hope that they don’t end up raising my price astronomically next year because of it.

    I was very happy with my most recent experience with Hot and Cold appliance service. I have not had good experience on any of my other service calls

    1. Air conditioning -- No one responded to my request, so CHW offered me a reimbursement option. There was some mix up between CHW and my service provider, I got a bill for $1200+ and CHW sent me $470.
    2. Hot water heater -- Leak in hot water tank. Tech came out and replaced the heater but charged for installation.
    3. Requested repair for heat pump on Pool. Assigned to AZ Pool Motors, but tech has never shown. Still not working properly.
    4.Refrigerator Icemaker -- Tech came out and stated that the problem was dirty coils. He was to leave the ticket open for a week to see if the problem was cleared up. I vacuumed all the coils, but it did not fix the problem. I called the tech to let him know--and never got a call back (after several calls).

    5. Microwave -- Microwave went out. Tech came out and tested. CHW stated that replacement part was not available and approved a $191 dollar replacement fee. The cost of the replacement microwave was $301.17 (I installed myself).

    JUST CHECK BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!! Don't waste your time!!! I signed up for Choice Home Warranty over a year ago and everything was great in the beginning. I signed up for the 5-year plan and all was well. The first year they were on point, always getting back to me and getting the job done. Now I don't know what is going on there. My shower faucet needed to be changed and I called Choice, they sent someone who took my set fee of $65 and said home warranty won't cover it. I figured it was my first problem with the company so I let it go. Then my water heater started leaking, I called Choice Home Warranty and they sent someone out.

    I paid the $65 just to be told they don't have the part needed to fix my water heater and there would be a delay in getting it. I spoke with Choice and they told me to get a plumber on my own and they'd reimburse me. The total was $350. This was almost 8 months ago and they still haven't paid me back. Every time I call I am sent from person to person. I have been told a bunch of times that they sent the checkout but it's been returned. Now I don't know much about USPS but come on!!! 2 times I have verified my address with them. Numerous times they have told me "We sent your check out, it should be there in 2-4 weeks." I have been treated like crap from their "manager." Nothing but the run around from these people. Don't waste your time with these thieves!!

    Submitting a claim to Choice is fairly easy and usually, it's done online. They typically have the categories broken out to just about everything with all the systems that they cover and typically, it starts with a service call to evaluate the problem. During the pandemic, Choice was not doing phone service so they were trying to reroute to the website. But I've called recently, so they do have phone service. The technicians have been good. They've been able to service the main issue that I'm usually having. I told a friend about Choice because she has an older home. Mine is from the early 70s so there’s a lot of components and things that can go wrong. So, it’s somewhat of a gamble. Sometimes people I've heard that they buy warranties and they pay for them for years, and they never have to use them. But in my case, I had a couple of high-ticket items. So, you're seeing the maximum value.

    This is a great program and for the most part Choice has been easy to work with. Some of the techs that take calls are terrible though and not worth the service call cost. I have mentioned one that is terrible, Zofa - HVAC in Richmond VA, but he keeps taking the calls when they are sent out. I have to decline and then get someone else. I would pay more for professional and knowledgeable techs instead of someone just trying to make a quick buck.

    The plumbing technician who came was fantastic! My issue is with the warranty claim in general. They set a ridiculously low price cap for the new faucet that had to be installed. So now our new faucet, while it works at least, looks like something that come out of a bargain bin in 1975. We paid a lot of money for this warranty and I'm not sure it's worth it now. We were also told when we purchased this warranty that we were in an area with a lot of technicians in different fields. Yet it took a week to find a plumber.

    I have a Kitchenaid Refrigerator that was not cooling and according to the Sears Technician sent out it was going to cost almost $900 to repair. Choice approved the repair via an email, but told the Technician they will only pay around $450 and that we had to pay the rest. Nowhere in the contract does it state they can decide what to pay. Now I have to appeal it to see if they will repair for the price without me paying anything. They always try to find an excuse not to pay and it is always some issue with them. Zero stars run away.

    Technician was wonderful choice warranty company when it came to timely communication was HORRIBLE. Case manager Lydia C. was non responsive to any email and I had to wait 10 days for an appointment time to discuss how this would be handled. I ended up paying to replace dishwasher with my own money. I called and spoke with someone in the company in the claims department (because I couldn’t get Lydia to answer my emails when I was asking about cash payout vs gift card) and asked if I could get a check vs gift card and they said yes. Well you can’t get reimbursed by check if they increase the replacement amount from the first offer. So now I have a gift card to Lowe’s for the approved higher replacement amount and who knows when I will be able to use it because I never shop at Lowe’s.

    Once I spoke to Lydia (on August 8th) and asked for her to have her manager call me, Lydia said I would receive a call within 72 hours. The manager finally spoke with me on August 24th after me emailing several people in the company asking again for a claims manager to call me. This is horrible customer service when it comes to timeliness and communication. I resigned a 5 yr contract because they sold me on the company and the ways they have improved from the last 5 years. This has not been my case. In my experience with making claims it has gotten worse not better especially with wait times and appointments.

    Each time I put in a claim, I am denied for the finer print (so they say) of the contract. I am what they sold as a VIP for the contract, yet I must fight for CHW to approve the service provider to do the work. And I am not alone. Since January 2022, no matter the provider, they say the same thing: This is normal - clients are reject. Not sure what happened from 2021 to 2022 but at this point, I am tired of fighting and being treated poorly. Or being told "I understand your frustration." Really, the new CHW script use this phrase before you deny both the claim and the appeal.

I called last week and asked to speak to a manager - I was told I can't speak to one but they will 'email' a manager and they will call in 24 hours - no one ever called. Service is abysmal.     I would say Choice has mostly been good, however sometimes their policies leave me scratching my head. My AC went out, technician ordered parts and here we are 2 weeks later and still waiting for the part. It is summertime in Texas and it is unbearably hot upstairs. The unit is old, so I asked if I could get a credit for what the repair would have cost and just hire a company myself to replace it. The answer was "no" and they won't budge. Doesn't make sense to me, if they would have paid that amount for the repair anyway why can I not just get a credit for that amount, or even a portion of that amount, to resolve this myself? In the end, they'll end up paying hundreds to repair it and I'm just going to replace it anyway, so the only winners here are service techs and manufacturers.

    Terms of replacement your reimbursed for is not replacement cost nor is it a comparable reimbursement to purchase a new appliance, pay for shipping and get the appliance installed. The fine print is supposed to clarify how they determine the reimbursement amount. Something about like/kind.     Choice Warranty may have a great media department but abysmal customer care. Why? In our experience, the customer service folks are either unwilling to read, don't know how to read and interpret, or can read and interpret it but under instructions not to follow its written policy, and/or plain and simple intimidation and a delaying tactic. I will let the customers decide the truth.

    We are without garbage disposal for 10 long days. Why? Because CHW will offer only 0.5 HP as a replacement for the existing 5/8 HP disposal. The stated policy clearly states for many appliances including disposal, "We are responsible only for replacement equipment of similar features, capacity, and efficiency." It seems to mean nothing to customer service folks in the chain of command up to the RESOLUTION MANAGER. Even more interesting is that one of the staff still claims to read only 0.5 HP when a photo clearly showing 5/8 HP was shared.

    I do want CHW to succeed because I have a long-term contract but not with their intimidation tactics and pushing the customer against the wall. Perhaps CHW folks have the wisdom to explain how a system of lower horsepower fits under the three words- similar features, capacity, and efficiency.     Even if it's a emergency like the refrigerator dies suddenly and you've got a family of six. There is no going above and beyond. There is barely doing the bare minimum. I asked if just replacing the same part over and over again and over again just for good measure is it good business model. I've had the same thing fixed three times in the past year. The definition of insanity is doing the same repeated thing and expecting a different result. I sometimes feel that this is the endless loop that we're in. With it being the same issue over the past year I would think there were further steps to take to make sure there's not something else going on that they're not seeing and that would have been a recommendation rather than just blindly accepting the same repair for the third time in less than a year.

    I just want my appliance fixed right. And it wouldn't hurt to make sure it could be done in a timely fashion. Like I don't know reaching out to other repair places to get a contract with them so even if one is the first choice and predominantly the first choice there are others who aren't booked two to three weeks out. Not to mention the time to order the parts or have the parts come back in and then have to wait 2 weeks after the parts get in to have them come out and fix it or at least finish the job. Because a month or more without a refrigerator with four kids is absolutely ridiculous.

    The fact that I had to jump through hoops to get a hold of the service contractor that they had and try to get them to come out sooner because I have four kids is ridiculous. The fact that there's literally only one service provider is ridiculous. I mean they're short staff like everybody else so I don't understand why there isn't more service providers than just one. And their response to well this is kind of an emergency because I've got four kids that I have to keep fed is more along the lines of, "Too bad. So sad sorry about your luck," than "Let me see how I can fix this."

    I called Choice Warranty about my AC not work. We did have some disagreement about response time 6 hours vs 24 hours but Tech showed up next day. I was going out of town for 3 weeks so I was a little tense. Tech replaced a Capacitor which helped but did not fix all the issues. AC was not getting cold.     Your Tech from Sears Repair came and installed the new pump/motor in our Maytag Dishwasher and checked it out for the operation.     It was really easy to sign up for your home warranty plan, but nearly impossible to cancel. It took me an hour and three phone calls to cancel your service. First I was put on hold for 15 minutes then twice I was intentionally hung up on, the third try I was put on hold for 30 min. The fourth time I was transferred to customer service in Taiwan and was promptly hung up on. I was finally able to cancel one policy and soon realized you didn’t confirm I cancelled both policies and had to call back again.     I have been happy for some claims (little plumbing issues) but when a bigger issue came up, they did not deliver. My A/C did not cool from one day to another because the condenser broke down. The technician they sent, seeing an opportunity, decided to make the covered repair of my condenser, contingent upon an upgrade of my whole A/C at a cost of 6k to me. So either you upgrade and pay 6k and we fix your condenser or we do not do anything. This is call blackmail by CHW and fraudulent abuse by the technician. Do Not Use! They are much better companies out there. I use Sears by Cinch for my other property and have been happy with them (incl A/C issue).
