But that person didn't negotiate and I subsequently came out about $150 shy of what it takes to replace my broken washing machine because you determined that it couldn't be fixed economically.     I bought a property and I went ahead and got the warranty on it. When it came time to start up the heat, it wouldn't work. I called Choice Home Warranty and they told me that they sent someone out, but then they told me they weren't going to warranty it because it hadn't been maintained. I just purchased the property. I didn't know whether or not it had been maintained and that wasn't something that said, "We'll warranty your products or your appliances if they've been properly maintained."

    Filing a claim is not difficult, and Choice Home Warranty did all right on the two that I filed on the latest property. This time was pretty quick. The time before though, they evidently had a problem finding someone who would come out. Talking to the person who finally came out, they told me that the reason it was difficult to get someone to come out was because the company didn't pay quickly. This was for a rental property. When the problem is at my own house, I can decide to wait, but with a rental property, I have to get someone in there immediately and get it taken care of. I wouldn't recommend Choice to anybody.

    I think Choice Home Warranty is better than most. The only concerns I have with Choice is that responding to a claim and scheduling sometimes take too long. I also do not like the fact that Choice decides when to have the technician arrive at the homeowner's house instead of allowing the homeowner to schedule arrival based on their schedule.

    Just switched home warranty companies and couldn't be happier. As a senior and a veteran, I was able to lock the annual price for LIFE. The service fee also got reduced from $75 to $65, also for LIFE. Can't say enough good things about my experience so far. Would recommend that if you don't have Choice Home Warranty yet, get it, if you are on a contract with some other company, just let them know that you don't want to renew and then swap. It can save you hundreds $$$ a year.

    I had about a dozen claims with Choice Warranty since January 2021. Up until my last claim for my dryer, I have not had a technician respond to a claim within 48 hours as I was told when I purchased the contract. I was told that claim would be serviced within 48 hours and there maybe a time when it could take longer but that would be an exception. My experience turned out to be that was the norm and not the exception. I attempted to address this with Choice Warranty requesting to speak to a manager of customer service, case manager, my sale agent, and sale district manager. I hit a roadblock at each with them telling me there was nothing they could do for me. Each department tried pushing the issue to another department but would never give me a phone number or email to someone in upper management that could address an improvement in services so I didn’t experience the same problems in the future.

    When I had a problem with my washing machine which was a Samsung front load 4.5 cubic foot machine that the technician deemed needed to be replaced, Choice offered me a Lowe’s gift card for $547.00. When I purchased the contract I was told and the contract stated that Choice would repair or replace your equipment. The contract did state they have the option at times to offer cash at their pricing. However I found out in September 2022 that Choice changed their policy several years back that they no longer replace the equipment and always do the cash payout at their system pricing which no one could explain the features or similarities they use to come up with the price. I also found out that they can not deviate from the system price if the washer was below a 5 cu. Ft. Washer. This was never verbal told to me nor is it stated anywhere in their contract.

    My experience is that they grossly misrepresented their contract and services and have no intent to honour their obligations. Each department representative states there is nothing they can do nor can they transfer, give me a phone number, or give me an email to the CEO or President of the Company. There was nowhere on the internet that I could find a phone number or email to anyone in their corporate office to bring my concerns to. I also spoke to their “Resolution Department” which is supposed to be the customer advocate and that was a waste of my time. I would never recommend Choice Warranty to anyone unless they don’t plan on having any claims. Then why even purchase a warranty contract?

    I don't have a problem with Service Tech that did the job. They were professional and got the job done right. My issue is with Choice Home Warranty itself (customer service lol, Resolution department give a break, Dedicated Case Manager what joke). I turn in the claim on a Tuesday morning and had a service provider assigned that afternoon (not bad right that's what I thought). It was the next day everything went downhill after they said they would replace it but then sent me an email that stated the following: 'With this replacement, there will be some non-cover costs you will personally be responsible for. Please note we negotiated a flat rate for all non-cover costs with our technicians. Non-cover items can include modifications, such as ducts, copper, drain, or electric, needed to support your new equipment. The cost to be paid by you is $300".

    Then they only give you the opinion to Acknowledge Charges which is in big letters or Decline Charges in much smaller letters with the statement "This will halt the purchasing of your equipment and progress of your claim" if you decline the charges it set you up with a Dedicated Case Manager that you can talk to in a week. So before I clicked anything I call and talk to them to find out what these cover charges were because it doesn't tell in the email. They told me it was for modification to install the equipment. I told them there would be no modification to install it. They told me to take that up with the technicians installing because that was between them and me. I told them I had already talked to them and he said the $300 was for $150 in labor charges they won't cover and replacing 2 flex water lines coming off the water heater to connect them to the water lines.

    CHW told me that wasn't true and that water heaters were plug and play and there were always modifications that had to be made so there was a flat rate of $300. I once again informed them there would be no modification needed to install the equipment because to make modifications, they would either have not be able to go back with the type parts, replace missing parts, or fabricate parts to make it work which was happening here.

    They point me to Section E (6) of the contract which states the following: We are not responsible for upgrades, modifications, components, parts, or equipment required due to the incompatibility of the existing equipment with the Replacement system or appliance or component or part thereof or with a new type of chemical or material utilized to run the Replacement equipment including, but not limited to, differences in technology, refrigerant requirements, or efficiency as mandated by federal, state, or local governments. I told them none of this applies because the installation didn’t require any upgrade or modification required due to the incompatibility of the existing equipment with the Replacement system or appliance. I told them on the phone that I was going to acknowledge the charges on the email (which I did) but I wanted to dispute them when the job was finished.

    The rest of the included several phone calls in which I was lied to and at one point in the system, it was changed to I decline charges (which I didn’t). Three days from the start the water heater was installed I had to pay the $300 for modifications that never took place and CHW hasn’t offered to reimburse me the charges. They told me that it was between me and the service company. Told them my contact was with them not the service company and that they hired them not me.

    Updated on 01/28/2023: They didn’t show and I had to keep calling Choice until they reassigned me a different contractor. Once I got a contractor assigned that one did show up to fix the problem. He actually was really so I am satisfied with that.

    Original Review: Salesman was great and gave me the best deal possible and was competitive with the market. Choice appears to be a valuable coverage with a good plan. Only sad thing I can express is I was contacted by another Choice team member and he couldn’t give me as good of a rate for the same coverage.

    My technician, Billy, was awesome. Fast, attentive, explained what was wrong and what the fox would be. My experience with CHW during the claim process was frustrating. The website had many issues with uploading substantiating documents and the chat function to communicate with the processor didn’t show the chat in order, I had to read time stamps to see what the latest message was. Whoever was processing my claim was not helpful to remedy/work around the website issues, simply stating, “we need the documents” without working with me on alternative solutions. I was to allow 24 to as much as 48 hours to have someone call me and it is now over 72 hours and no call. I called customer service and attempted to talk your service centers in Central America and the Philippines and neither person could speak English to the point I could understand them.     We have been using Choice Home Warranty since 2017. We signed a 6-year deal for a couple of my houses. It was very very bad at the beginning. Choice always found various reasons to reject covering the repair claims and each time you had to fight for it. Even if they fixed or replaced parts, they used very cheap products. I still remember they replaced my sump-pump with a crappy one and we could hear the noise even on the 2nd flr. Not just me, other friends who used Choice had similar experience. Now they have improved a lot for repairs since 2021 and we did not have to fight for repair claims anymore. But for replacement, it is still very bad.

    My LG front load washer and dryer were broken before (at different year), Choice decided not to repair them and replace them, though both still looked very good. But they only gave about $450 cash for each replacement (the case manager said they only gave the lowest price they could find on the internet with similar capacity regardless of front load or upper load) and it actually only covered 50% of real replacement cost.

    Recently my over-the-range microwave was broken. The Choice technician briefly fixed it and said if it did not work again, call him and he would come back to fix it. The microwave did not work again the next day. But Choice decided not to fix it and replace it. But they only gave $191 cash for replacement. I asked the case manager which website she found $191. The cheapest over-the-range microwave at Costco is $329.

    In addition, we had to pay for tax and installation (Choice technician said he would charge $150) plus upfront service fee. The cash they gave only covers 35% of my real cost for replacement. The case manager said they did not find the reimbursement price from the internet. The price they gave was their lowest wholesale price regardless of features, color, brand, etc. That is ridiculous. How can we buy a product at their wholesale price? I knew American home shield at least had a webpage to let you buy appliance with cheaper price.

    Their cancellation policy was even ridiculous and unreasonable. In 2020, I sold my primary home and I had to cancel its Choice Home Warranty, because Choice did not allow me to give the remaining credits to my other homes which already had Choice warranty and the place I moved to has no Choice service. But for cancellation, though involuntarily, I had to pay all the repairs cost Choice paid for my primary home before my cancellation. It means I had to pay Choice Home Warranty premium from 2017-2020 and I did not get any repair coverage. I had to pay Choice crappy repair costs out-of-pocket plus warranty annual premium. My repair costs basically were doubled.

    So new users need to read their cancellation policy before sign. I signed my deal through a salesman. At that time, he told me I could cancel my policy at any time and I would get prorated refund back. He never told me that I had to pay back all the repair costs regardless of the reason for cancellation. I never suspected that because no other companies did that. Also back in 2017, the salesman knew I planned to sell my primary home in the next few years which was the reason that I initially did not plan to buy choice 6 year home warranty for my primary home. But he told me I could cancel it at any time.

    My experience with CHW has been near perfect. My appliance was evaluated within 24 hours of my call. My egift card was approved within another 24 hours due to the required part no longer being available. Unfortunately now I have to wait up to 30 days to get my egift card. Obviously that is meant to help replace the broken appliance. So why 30 days to get an egift card. Seems like that should be available for use within another 24 hours. Had that happened this would have been a 5 star experience.

    UPDATED 10/02/2022: I’m impressed of the 24 Hr Turnaround (Sat. Oct 1st) request for service on my Garage Door from Topline Doors. The Technician repaired the broken Spring however, I had to call them back to fix/replace the Garage Door Motor which had stopped operating as well. I tried calling Choice Home Warranty but the Claim office was closed. The Technician said he would return (Mon. Oct 3rd).

    ORIGINAL REVIEW: My Phone call to Choice Home Warranty encounter requesting assistance was expeditious and professional. Waiting to receive a return call for the repair of my garage door. I’m expecting a response within 24 hours. Getting same-day service would be very impressive.

    When I picked this home warranty I read the policies fully and I never saw a "limit" to how much they would actually cover if an appliance died. Ok so our $270 microwave died and we only got told we would get a $191 gift card to cover it ONLY to Lowe's. Great whatever we needed a microwave. I accepted the offer and it has been a week, no microwave, no gift card... Usually, when an appliance dies it is one that you would want replaced quickly... not 30 days later. Highly debating renewing this warranty as it seems to not really be worth it.

    I have been with Choice for couple of years and whenever I log in a claim they usually send the technician to assess the complaint in a day's time and they immediately act as soon as the assessment is sent to them by the technician.     This was the most frustrating claim I have ever had with a home warranty. Choice gives you the run around and try to delay this process by sending multiple technicians who does not respond or fills out the report. Choice sent 4 different technicians for my problem, and this was reported on 9/12/22 and as of 9/29/22 my air conditioning is still broken. Unacceptable!!!

    The technicians that Choice has sent out are very nice and I've never had a problem with any of them so far. I have an existing claim and I'm just waiting for Choice to find somebody. The claims process is fine but sometimes they can't find somebody to work with them. They offer reimbursement if I can find somebody on my own. Earlier this year, I couldn't find somebody that would work with Choice. If I find somebody on my own, they have to call Choice and let them know or email them what the situation is and what the cost is going to be. Then, Choice has to let them know to go ahead or not.

    I am not very happy about how I was treated in getting a claim scheduled for my home. I called several times, and each time was an issue. I called one day and was hung up on by a worker. I called the next time and the person never scheduled or did a follow-up for my claim. I had to call again, and it was escalated by the worker finally.
