    I called Choice Home Warranty to file a claim about my water heater leaking on 12/7/22. Customer Service told me that it would be 24 hours before someone would contact me. The next day I called them again and then they told me it would be 24-48 hours as they were working on assigning my claim to a technician. I told them again my water heater was leaking and that I couldn't get it to stop even after shutting off the water valve. 12/8/22 They sent me an email giving me the option to utilize their reimbursement process. This is where they allow me to hire my own technician outside of their network. The technician would have to submit the diagnosis to CHW website and other red tape as well as wait up to 30 days for them to reimburse me. I told them that I did not have money to pay for a plumber and that whatever else could be wrong. I told them that is why I purchased the home warranty service plan.

    Fast forward to 12/13/22 I received an email from CHW with a scheduled appointment for 12/15/22 for a plumber company. There was a contact number for the technician in the email. I reached out to the technician to see if he could come on 12/16/22 as I could have someone at my house because I was out of town. The technician wasn't able to be there that day. I have been calling CHW without any luck in getting a technician out to my house as of today 12/18/22. The next appointment is scheduled for 12/23/22; unbelievable. Yesterday 12/17/22 I called and asked to speak to a supervisor. They told me a supervisor would call within 24-48 hours. As I write this review almost 24 hours later I have not received a call from anyone. The only thing they can say is "I understand your frustration with one of your systems not working properly."

    Now I have a whole other issue, the wall in my garage looks water damaged from being exposed to water over this period of time. This has been really stressful. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone else. I'm paying for a home warranty service that doesn't deliver what is stated and promised on their website and emails. I advise anyone, and everyone to be very careful about who you use chose for a home warranty company. I noted the minor issues their response was good but this is an awful experience. I eventually had to cut the water off to my house until they can get someone here to repair or replace the water heater. I pray they can get someone here before 12/23/22 as scheduled. I remind you I have been dealing with this since 12/7/22. I will let whoever reads this make their own judgment with CHW.

    I realized my A/C unit was blowing hot air only, I went online and filed a claim with Choice. Shorty after that I received an email informing who the service provider was going to be and to expect to be contacted by AirControl NWL. That same day I was contacted by AirControl and an appointment was scheduled. Once the tech arrived he began to research the problem, after a thorough inspection, he informed me the main board was not functioning and required to be replaced.

    At that time he contacted Choice for approval, which was given, he ordered the part and on 17/DEC/2023 the new part was installed and the A/C is working properly. In all my years working with service companies, I would consider AirControl one of the very best. From the time their office contact me, until the job was completed, I was always aware of the progress.

    We had 3 claims with Choice Home Warranty thus far, and were not impressed with some of the service technicians they have sent. It appears that the technicians that sign up for the Choice network are new to the field and do this to gain experience at the cost of the Choice customers. The service call scheduling given by Choice is seldom adhered to, and we have had last minute no show or reschedule. The claim process takes very long (several weeks) to get anything fixed. In addition, if something requires an expensive fix, you are offered minimal replacement compensation (about 15% of the value of the appliance) given in the form of a Lowe's gift card. My experience with Choice has been stressful and not beneficial.

    My water heater broke after Choice fixed it a year ago, no hot water and started to leak. Choice sends out a tech and he says no problem they will get you a new one. Choice Home Warranty denies the claim and says the Water tank is not covered. I thought I was reading this wrong. The water tank is part of the water heater and for all I know their previous repair only lasted so long until it gave out and started to leak. Now I’m out $65 co pay and have to pay for everything myself. What am I paying CHW for what’s the use if they deny everything. Same situation with my A/C unit. Also denied and of all things rust in Arizona on a brand new unit. Very disappointed. Feel cheated will have to see what can be done in the courts. Beware buyer.

    The furnace was Red Tagged on Tuesday. I had to get an independent technician because of the cold weather. I had one come but even though I took care of my furnace through its life, my claim was denied due to a Defective Heat Exchanger. This is the second claim I have had. Both claims denied basically because the decent appliances bought and taken care of, aged, and because of that failed the examination for replacement. Thus no replacement. No financial help and as of right now... not worth the cost of renewing my policy. I invest to help... this investment didn't help my household AT ALL.

    Jadotee reached out to me a few days ago to introduce me to this company and answered all my questions. I was interested but needed some more time to think it over. I tried to reach out to him to let him know I was ready to purchase the annual warranty but another rep reached out instead and his name is Abraham?. Anyway he gave me another offer for the warranty and I decided to go ahead and purchase it through him. But instead of just being glad I made the purchase he introduced me to another offer and locking me into a 6 years of coverage but I declined. Explained my hardships. He tried again and I said still turned it down. Explained I can't afford it with the economy. He refused to accept my answer and still offered me another way of getting me to purchase another 3 years. I understand it is his job to sell but it became obnoxious and we exchanged words.

    I basically said I don't have the budget and since I'm a potential client, "Would you just accept my purchase and let me be." He responded I'm already a client just wanted to give me another offer. It came off rude and arrogant and I am now regretting my purchase. If this is how I'm treated and I haven't even used the service yet then it will only get worse from here. All I did was purchase a warranty and I am already harassed for it seems like it will be downhill when I actually request a service.

    He was very good and hard worker. He found the issue immediately. Two sinks still have issues, of which he was able to tell us exactly what they were. Unfortunately it goes beyond what he was approved to do for this visit. He was able to give us suggestions that could help with the sinks in the future. Our drain was grouted into the shower and it was supposed to be (it's the 2 foot long grate drain). He chipped it loose, made it look nice and got it to where we are able to remove it for cleaning the basket out.

    We bought a five year policy with Choice Home Warranty. paid-in-full at almost $3000. Our heater started giving us a problem about 14 days before the 30-day insurance activation. We troubleshot the problem and replaced two little parts. It worked fine until last night and now it is giving us problems. I filed a claim and was too honest with Choice in saying the problem started a few weeks ago. They denied the claim saying it was pre-existing. BEWARE CONSUMER. Do not tell them that you did anything to help the situation before the activation date or like all snakes in the grass, they will just bite you in the behind. They have my money.     The first tech did not have a high enough ladder but was able to dx the issue. The second tech had the correct ladder, but Choice will only pay for the "contractor" grade ceiling fan that needed to be replaced. I have 16' ceiling and a decorative Monte Carlo fan. I found the cheapest fan that would work, $239 and was told by Choice Claims Rep they would pay $70. I was already out $65 for the service call (which took a total of 3 appointments, and hours waiting). This is not the company for me. The picture of my current original fan is included.

    When I purchased this warranty I was told by the marketing department all of these great things about the company and most importantly, if the device could not be repaired, it would be replaced. Now after experiencing the replacement procedure, I am completely dissatisfied. Our dryer could not be repaired and based on today’s pricing, it would cost between 500 and $600 to replace it but they have a clause in the contract and they offered me a paltry $335. After many conversations back-and-forth I had no choice, but to accept the money. I am now about the business of contacting the Attorney General for New Jersey and for New York because the contract language is ambiguous at best and there are two conflicting policies that affect this decision. In my opinion if there is ambiguity in the contract, that the person who did not write the contract should be favored.

    Sold a policy by Home Choice, we were told it would cover appliances, even states it covers ovens and cook tops. Purchased the policy when we purchased a home, we were told by the sales person all appliances are covered. It was never mentioned that Home Choice would only pay partial for replacement if the appliance can not be repaired. My wall oven is bad, called them, tech says it can't be repaired, they will only pay $345 for a replacement. The cheapest oven I can find is $1499. As far as I am concerned this company is a bait and switch. Do not purchase. They will not replace appliances that can not be repaired. We had no idea how old the oven was when we purchased the home.     The tech that came was great. My issue is that the house gets up to 87 because the AC is out and we have a 75-year-old in the house. There doesn't seem to be any urgency as the shipping of the part will leave us without any AC for over a week not even airflow. With how humid FL is, there is an issue with a lack of airflow in modern homes. The tech was scheduled quickly at first so that's why I added the second star.

    I filed my claim with Choice Warranty over two weeks ago. I called several times because we had hot water intermittently. I was worried it would fail right before we had company. And clearly, something was going “bad.” But, after several attempts to find out when a technician would be dispatched, I gave up and found my own. They NEVER dispatched the technician. I will say that I found the tech, and he was fantastic, BUT Choice opted to not reimburse me for the repair, claiming it was maintenance. While at my house, the tech flat out said that what he did was a temporary fix and the heaters would have to be replaced. It is in the repair notes, etc. So now, I will have to wait for the water heaters to fail again, and wait weeks for a technician. Word of advice to future home owners. Find a plumber/heating cooling etc that is local and buy their warranty. It will save you $$$ and the headache.
