    I would absolutely recommend the tech but I will not - absolutely not - recommend Choice Home Warranty to anyone. Choice has given me the runaround with this refrigerator repair so badly that I really regret purchasing a multi year plan. My refrigerator has died 3 times now after choice has sent a tech. the techs have each said - it will go out again - but choice insists on making a repair. They could simply give me one of those little Lowe's cards towards the purchase of a new fridge - I never expected a full replacement on an older fridge... What's wrong with them? Karen **

    Very upset with the processing of service call fee. I was charged 3 times and also received notification that I should pay Technician upon approval for servicing. When I called customer service no explanation or apology was provided. This error put my account in a financial shortage which created much embarrassment. After being a customer for over five years I think it's time for me to reconsider my Home Warranty choice going forward. This leaves me very upset.

    I'm very disappointed with the company,, you lead off with we're the best company around then you feed us a lot of lies on what Choice will offer, your REPAIR OR REPLACE statement my be true to a point but it comes at an additional expense that you neglect to tell your customers at the time of purchase.. You lead us to believe that you will pay the service call fee and everything else is good,, again not true. Choice puts your name and the problem you're having out on some sort of website/page and a contractor can take the job if interested,,

    Well you may or may not hear from someone from 1 to 3 days later to make an appointment to come out and look at the job and take pictures to send back to Choice to see if it's a legitimate claim or not, then if Choice feels it's legitimate they will come up with the additional COST to you and if you ACCEPT that charge they will give the contractor permission to order parts and schedule the job,,, now who knows how many more days you will be waiting,,,

    Terrible service time wise and hidden fees that I feel they should emphasize up front as they try and sell you the plan... Then you try and call and talk with someone from Choice. Forget it,, I won't put his name here but ** didn't even have the decency to call me back after a couple calls.. This is just my opinion about CHOICE HOME WARRANTY and I don't recommend so choose wisely..

    If I could give no stars I would. I called in my first claim today. We are having a plumbing issue. I was hung up on several times. Could not receive a call back from a supervisor. Had the claim denied and closed after 20 minutes. Called back to reopen. Finally spoke to someone whose first language is English. He reopened and said it was being dispatched. After several hours we have not received a call back nor status update. We called back in only to be put on hold and transferred. After figuring out that Choice Home Warranty is just a scam we tried to cancel. We are not having any luck with this either. We want to cancel and want a refund for the money we have already paid. We are going to file a claim in small claims court to get our money back. Do not purchase a Choice Home Warranty. Choice Home Warranty is a scam.

    I have had good and bad with Choice. The repair to my dryer was good tech was great work done good and quick.     Water heater installed by a vendor from Choice Home Warranty. Had several calls in due to the system continually shutting down. Finally was diagnosed with a tech from CHW, parts covered under warranty. Spent $85 for each time someone had to come out (5 times). The tech who finally diagnosed the problem, was denied by choice to cover the repair. Cost to me $985 for labor, no charge for parts.

    Previously we needed a furnace replaced. Tied up 3 weeks to get approval, then they would not honor the replacement. Furnace was 60 years old, and they demanded the serial number on the unit stating the burner was under warranty. 60 years old! Finally found a burned copper plaque with numbers on it. This happened in january 2024, with a heavy cold bitter month ahead. Under pressure we replaced the furnace at our expense. We were without heat for 4 weeks and reimbursement not made toward our expense. Had the unit replaced in 2 days with our own contractor. Had to fight for service and repair. A visual with pictures of the heat exchanger were provided with the unit. No response to repair or replace from choice. 18 months of payments followed to a contractor.

    Choice Home Warranty covers a lot for the money. I have 3 homes currently covered. They are responsive and communicate well when opening a claim. However, where they fall short, is you cannot reach them if something goes wrong. I had an issue and tried every day for a week trying to get ahold of someone. No one would return my call. They have the standard message that if you leave your number they will get back to you as the first agent is available. I left my number for 7 straight days and no one ever got back to me. If you look at their site, there is no way to contact customer service. I finally called sales and they stated they would transfer me to customer service.

    They did and no one answered again and the same message came up, "leave your phone number, you will not lose your place in line" but no call back. I was ready to report them to our state's attorney general when I got a message from them that my original contractor was being replaced. With this message I was able to call the original contractor who then gave me their contact number. I was able to leave a message and was called back within a few minutes. After speaking with that representative, everything went forward smoothly. Bottom line is they are great unless you have an issue. If you do, don't expect to have anyone ever get back to you.

    Choice Home Warranty is a textbook example of a company that happily takes your money and then disappears the moment you file a legitimate claim.

    I had a hot water pipe burst during freezing temperatures—an emergency situation with active water flooding my home. Any sane homeowner would immediately stop the leak to prevent thousands of dollars in damage. That’s exactly what I did.

    Choice Home Warranty denied my claim outright because I did not wait days for their approval while water was actively destroying my house.

    Let that sink in.

    They expected me to let my home continue flooding so they could check a box in their process. Because I chose to protect my property, they refused to cover the repair. This isn’t customer service — it’s weaponized fine print.

    A home warranty that only works if you allow your home to be damaged is worse than useless. It gives homeowners a false sense of security while providing every excuse possible to deny claims.

    This experience made it crystal clear that Choice Home Warranty is not there to help — they are there to find reasons not to pay. I immediately cancelled my policy and consider every dollar I paid them a waste.

    Two experiences. Make sure you read their contract. Cooktop is a jenn air cant be fixed, they don't care about brand. So if you have high end appliances make sure they work before you buy that house!. Second experience was furnance I am still in limbo. They want the home inspection report.     Tech was very knowledgeable and found problem quickly. He completed his assessment and paperwork quickly and we had a resolution within a couple of hours. Only problem now is we have to wait for a Lowe’s gift card to purchase a new washer because it may take 30 days to get on an email. Hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later.     Choice Home Warranty has been the worst warranty experience I’ve ever had. I strongly recommend not purchasing this coverage. When my furnace went out, I submitted a claim and initially had a positive experience. They quickly sent a service technician, and I was told my furnace was not covered due to manufacturer warranty and my claim was denied.

    They never actually confirmed whether my furnace was under warranty before denying the claim. After I personally did the work to verify the warranty status and followed up with them, they still refused to offer any assistance toward repairing or replacing the furnace. This company is very quick to deny claims, even after initially indicating they would help. They take your money, create false expectations, and then leave you without support when you actually need it. Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. I would not trust this company to stand behind their coverage.

The first plumbers that Choice Home assigned to repair our broken garbage disposal were very noncommunicative. They didn’t show up twice on mutually arranged appointments, this wasted two half days of my time waiting for them to show up and they never showed. So we called Choice Home and changed plumbers.

    The second plumber group, Hydro Heroes, were much better, their only problem was that Nichol the office manager called me to arrange an alternative appointment time because the original time conflicted with both mine and my wife’s work schedule.     The Technician who came out was a nice person who seemed genuinely concerned about helping. He was hampered by whoever he called.     I obtained this Home Warranty from Choice through escrow and prepaid for an entire year. WORST MISTAKE EVER. I have put in 3 claims with ZERO results. First claim was electrical - had to do with GFI switches in bathrooms not working. They never sent a tech stating they were unable to obtain a contractor, and I ended up paying over $200 for my own handyman to resolve. Next was my washing machine; leaked all over the floor. This claim they sent a tech the next day, he "fixed" the leak and 2 weeks later it began leaking again, all over my floor. Same guy was sent out again from Choice, he "fixed" by putting a bigger clamp on the hose, and 2 weeks later it leaked again and this time flooded my entire laundry room and into my bedroom.

    Choice never sent out another tech to fix the problem stating they were unable to find a contractor, and AGAIN, I was forced to resolve it with my own means. Now, during the coldest storm on the East Coast in years, my heater has gone out. Put in a claim on Sunday, and guess what - it's now Wednesday and STILL NO TECH TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE. This company is obviously not very good to their vendors because they can never get one to agree to do the work for them. Since I prepaid for an entire year and have never received proper service from them I asked them to cancel this policy and refund my prepaid money. Well they refuse to honor this and now I am stuck WITH THE WORST HOME WARRANTY COMPANY I have ever dealt with. I am going back to American Home Shield, at least they have better relationships with their contractors.

    7 days no hot water - CHOICE IS NO HELP AT ALL - worst warranty claim experience ever. While I understand that Choice does not want to get ripped off by plumbers, they need to make it easier for customers and technicians to submit information and provide EXAMPLES of successful claims. The issue was that my 13 year old water heater finally died. All parties involved agree that the water heater needs replacement, the issue was with the info required by choice from the technician beyond the normal bid. Choice wants a detailed cost breakdown of all supplies and labor. While this is logical, most plumbers provide and all inclusive flat fee for repair. This creates a conflict because the plumber is baking profit into the flat fee, and choice wants to pay less, and guess who suffers, me the customer with no hot water for my family.

    The plumber has to do extra work to properly submit the breakdown and diagnosis. THIS IS DIFFICULT FOR TECHNICIANS TO DO ON A CELL PHONE! My first technician stood in my garage for 2 hours, I listened as he argued with Choice on the phone, they asked him for a "breakdown" and he refused. They fired him while he was in my garage and sent me an email that "due to unforeseen circumstances" they were getting another technician for a second opinion. This poor guy stood in my garage for 2 hours on a wednesday morning, even after the haggling, he could have installed the new heater by lunch, but he was fired. Totally unacceptable. The next day that plumber called me to share that his company would no longer work with Choice.

    48 hours later on day 5 of no hot water, there is absolutely nothing from choice except an annoying AI chatbot that says that it understands the urgency of the situation, no phone calls from a person, no emails. LOSE the AI chatbot, it does not provide comfort it does not really understand the claim. At this point I called the person that signed me up for choice and asked them to help push my claim along, moments later I got a call from new jersey, and the person suggested the reimbursement option. So I took it, called a technician and he was at my house within an hour. I gave him the choice paperwork and told him to please follow all instructions because choice is very difficult to work with. This plumber happened to be good with computers and was able to submit the info. But guess what... they wanted a "detailed breakdown" of the supplies and labor costs.

    They had all weekend to authorize but sent me no emails and no phone messages. I had to ask the plumber to go back and do more work with Choice on Monday. He spent an hour of his monday morning to create a breakdown and it was finally authorized on day 7 of no hot water. What was choice doing during that 48 hours to educate the technician on what to do? NOTHING... The plumber that did the work was a young man who was good with computers and tech savvy, he reiterated that the process was very difficult for him to submit info to choice, and he had to do it on a desktop, it was too hard through the phone. So I was lucky that he was a patient plumber.

    I did not see his breakdown, and I don't know what the appropriate cost of a water heater install in California should be, but choice is only covering 71% of the cost on this. 7 days, 2 technicians, and I had to do all of the work to push this along and after all that did not get reimbursed 100%. Its very painful, what is the point? The bottom line is that choice needs clear instructions for customers and technicians on how to be successful with a claim. As soon as choice knew that my water heater was toast, there should be a template of steps or something to guide me on what to do, and to guide technicians that have never worked with choice. And it should actually work. It should work in such a way that the customer does not have to do anything except write a check to the technician.

    Choice Home Warranty installed a new kitchen faucet through the vendor "Street Plumbing & Rooter" in San Jose. The plumber installed the faucet improperly and didn't even tighten up all the way. The faucet became loose within a few days of installation and water pressure is very low, but they refused to come out to fix it. They said "dual angle stop" (shutoff valve) needs to be replaced (I don't know why) but the Choice Home Warranty says it's not covered. It's odd that the shutoff valve is not covered. In any case, the plumber refused to come out to fix it and the warranty company said they cannot do anything about it. Total bomber! You might want to stay away from Choice Home Warranty. They just suck!

    I called in to report an emergency NO HEAT situation Saturday 1/24/2026 after checking the unit. The inside unit of our heat pump would no longer run or provide heat. It did squeal loudly around 2:30 AM, for a while maybe 7 or so and there was a burning smell.     One of the salesmen was quite rude when I told him I was going to shop around. I almost went with another company. My biggest problem is that it takes to long to get a repair done. For non essential repairs I can live with it, but for my stove it took over a month to fix and then it was still broken and that took more time. They said they could not get the parts, I went online and could get them in two days. My garage door was another issue. The door was very heavy and I could not open it up by myself. When I did get it open I could not leave my truck outside because it has 12 thousand dollars of fire and county radios in it. So back in the garage it went. I can only imagine how long it will take if my heating system fails in the winter. Emergency service is needed.

    Although the garage door service technician was great I tried calling him for faster service, unfortunately he was unable to get back to me. The company that installed the garage door would have been here in 1 day. My clothes dryer was fixed 3 times, the technician ordered parts which are still in my basement because he did not know what was wrong with the dryer, the second tech did. My washing machine has also been repaired 2 or three times, it broke again after the 90 day warranty period costing me another 60 dollars. I looked at my new contract and see that the service fee is now 75 dollars. I have to call Choice and get it in writing that I have 45 months starting in March when my old contract expires.

    They are pretty responsive on the small items on appliances, but on the higher ticket items, their contract gives them so many outs. They rely on AI on their claims portal which needs a lot of work. The date/time assignment of service providers/technicians is arbitrary and the client us unable to adjust that without calling the service provider directly. So, what service is CHW providing.     I have been a customer for maybe three years plus. I can't say I am delighted with the plan, but, of necessity, I have subscribed to this service because I am not financially able to pay the outright cost of appliance and plumbing breakdowns. Yet I feel highly scrutinized in how customer service is handled (sometimes people are insensitive, short, rude, etc.), and some of the contractors are the same. Recently, I had a ticket for a garbage disposal, the contractor repaired it on the initial call. However, immediately after his departure, the same problem reoccurred. It took more than four weeks to get the company back after three phone calls (none of which were initiated by the Contractor), and I had to report the issue to CHW before I got them back. (I understand that part of the issue was the holiday; however, not following up with updates was unacceptable.)

    Finally, the contractor came around the fourth week, fixed the problem, but explained the issue away as if it was something to do with our not controlling the switch, stating there was nothing wrong with the garbage disposal. This kind of service has happened to me more than once. Also, I appreciate that warranty services are available, but I would love to see CHW and contractors treat us with the same care that they would want for their own home. I have used three other warranty contracts; I will say I think this is the most preferred in my history. Thank you.

    Terrible experience!!! Choice first took a $100 service fee before the technician arrived but later refund it to me only to require me to pay the technician and told me it could take up to 3 days to refund the first $100. After the technician arrived for the assessment of the defective water heater system and provided assessment report to Choice. After a day or so later, the water heater was approved for replacement but according to Choice, it would take around 3 days or so to find a replacement water heater. Now, my wife and I have to go to friend's house to shower and the water will continue to leak on the wall.

    It appears that Choice doesn't REALLY care about US, their customers, because they are not trying to locate a water heater until 3-5 workdays... COMPLETELY UNSAT. Additionally, I will have to pay more for other cost to install the water heater. In the meantime, the water continues to leak from the water and my walls too damaged by the water. I have not spoke to anyone from Choice Home Warranty except AI. I am disappointed with the repair process.

    We had a guy come all the way from Sacramento to look at the dish washer and dryer (we live in Redding which is 21/2 hours away). I had waited a whole day last week Wednesday for somebody to come and he never arrived - no show. This week, he thought he had fixed the dishwasher so he worked on the dryer while he set the dishwasher on a light cycle. Although the dryer was working it made a loud high pitched squeaking sound constantly. After he had worked on it, I couldn’t switch it on anymore.

    We are going to be without a dryer now for over a week. He said he needs to order a part to come fix it. Then he went to look at the dishwasher and realized he hadn’t fixed it, so he said he also needs to get a part for the dishwasher. So at this stage he might be able to come back to Redding late next week to fix both machines. My question is, what happens if he doesn’t get the machines fixed on his next visit? Can the company not find anybody in the area who can fix the appliances? We have also been charged the call out fee twice.

When the technician finally came, he had to come 1 1/ hrs from Boston, All he was allowed to repair was the turn on handle. The rest of the claim was denied, The technician was great however.     "DON'T GET THIS SERVICE"...! THIS COMPANY DOES NOT FULL FILL WHAT THEY CAME TO DO OR WHAT A CUSTOMER WOULD EXPECT THEM TO PROVIDE PROPER AND TIMELY SERVICE. I will explain... I put in a claim over "3" weeks ago that my home heating system was out (NO HEAT). I live in WV and the temp's for the last "3" weeks has been ranging between 8-34 degree and those were the high's for the day. Choice Home Warranty has been trying since then to find and get a technician to my home to fix the heater. THEY HAVE YET TO GET IT FIXED!!!

    They have attempted to schedule three different companies to come and fix it. First one cancelled the appointment (due to it would take Choice "60" to pay them), Second Company the technician showed up and confirmed the needed fixed and submitted his estimate and told me he would be back to fix it when Choice approved the estimate, well Choice notified me his service was cancelled due to it would take Choice "60" days to pay him. Well then Choice scheduled a third company to fix it today. GUESS WHAT???? Choice emailed me this morning and said they just cancelled there service, AGAIN, because it would take Choice "60" days to pay them. GETTING the Choice pattern yet???

    Well first of all "NO" company wants to take a job with Choice because it takes "60" days ffor them to get paid. Now, compound that with Choice's Customer Service Standard answer to this problem is, "Sir, we are working on finding another company to fix the heater"... That is all they can continuously say, over and over again, including their management team (which I have spoken to multiple times). It's like they have a set script to read from when customer call wanting to know when they will provide their service... PLEASE, IF you are considering paying Choice Home Warranty for the home protection they advertise, THINK again, because it IS NOT what they make the appearance of on their TV and Web commercials.

    If you take this service and ever need to submit a claim, thinking you will get service right away, THINK AGAIN, cause you won't... I am writing this review to hopefully help some people out when dealing with or getting Choice's home warranty plans. What really got me what the last company they had coming "TODAY" to fix the heater "CANCELLED" first thing this morning. I immediately called Choice and ask them why, they said the company cancelled (Choice's standard line when other Companies don't want to wait "60" to get paid by Choice).

    I explained this morning to a member of their Management Team, that a Major Historic Snow/Ice storm is coming right through where we live in WV with record low Temps projected, that my wife has congestive heart failure and cannot function or breathe when the house gets to cold. I ask them to EXPEDITE their efforts to find a tech to fix the heater within the next 24-48 hours before this storm gets here. GUESS what their MANAGER told me??? Their standard answer, just like the customer service folks tells you... We have your claim filed and we "ARE WORKING ON IT, and we will notify you when we find a company/technician to come and fix your heater!

    Boy, based off of their past 3 weeks performance, boy oh boy I sure won't hold my breath for that to really happen... GUESS Choice just does not care about their customer much, including the ones that have server medical condition that can harm their health due to their lack of responsibility to do what is expected from having a home warranty service a customer can count on in timely fashion when really needed. Sorry so long but needed to make people out there about how this company operate on the claims their customers submit... Thanks a lot "CHOICE HOME WARRANTY" for being there when we really needed your assistance

    I had Choice Home Warranty for a number of years. The first claim I made was on my furnace of which the total bill was $900 of which there was a service charge of $85 so they paid the balance. However after that my monthly premium went up to $85 a month of which I was never notified of either through the phone or email. Found I owed $450 in back payments. My payments originally was $57.50/month. I called and told them that. They put the monthly payment back to $57.50 and I paid the $450 (like a dummy). Then I noticed after that my bank account showed no direct monthly payments being made to Choice Home Warranty again. I called them again and was told I owed $357. I told them I never received a notification of non-payment. I was told that they had sent me an email (I never received one). His response was he asked if I had a different account.

    I checked and remembered that I had to get a new debit card because the other one was ripped and couldn't be used anymore. When I told the person that he said that was not his fault. I told him that I had never received any notification of non-payment. He told me they had sent me an email but had no record of it saved. I told him that I wasn't going to pay $357. He came back with $208. I told him I didn't want to pay that either because of non-payment of which I was not notified of. After getting nowhere I cancelled my contract with Choice Home Warranty. They kept raising the monthly costs with no notification.

    I filed a claim in November 2025 for my A/C unit, it stopped cooling. This was the 2nd time in 6 months. The technician came out, told me that a fuse was blown, and it they weren't covered by the warranty. He told me to replace the fuses and if that didn't fix the issue to call for them to come back out. I replaced the fuses and contacted CHW because they had closed the claim. I appealed and was told to send in the receipt for the fuses to prove that they had been changed, which I did the next day. After numerous unanswered emails and phone calls promising to get the technician back out, I called January 21, 2026, and was told the claim was still denied. I was told that I have to pay an electrician to come out, remove the fuses, re-install them and then send a copy of the repair bill to CHW. Only then will they re-consider the denial. This is information that I should have been given over a month ago.

    I have contracts with CHW on 2 properties for 1 1/2 years, with 2 years left on the contracts. Of the total of 4 claims filed, 2 for each property, the only issue successfully repaired was my ice maker. I had American Home Warranty on a property in another state, when that property was sold, I decided to try CHW, but I have been very disappointed and I'm considering cancelling both contracts. I would not recommend them to anyone in the future.
