    I was not optimistic about my call that brought me in contact with Luke **. I have spoken with 3-4 other companies, including another representative with Choice earlier in the week.     It is my pleasure to write this review. It took me a while to request a quote and to talk to a CHW representative. When I did get a rep to talk too I was surprised, His name is Adam **, each question I ask he replied with no hesitation. That showed me that CHW was the company to go with. The plans to choose from was simple, number 1 is the total plan which is what it states Total except for a few options to add on if you want at a reasonable. Adam is the man, my man. I recommend CHW, they treat you as a person.

    Chase did an awesome job of pinpointing my problem with the a/c. Very informative, helpful & professional. Choice home warranty did not cover labor for my parts because they were under manufacturer warranty. So parts did not cost them anything but I expected them to cover the labor since that is why I have a home warranty. Only thing that was covered was thermostats replacement. So I did not let them replace parts but one & I had to pay the labor cost plus my fee. Very disappointed in the home warranty, but young man & air company, I was satisfied with them.

    The reason for the four has to due with the amount of time CHW assigned a technician. Once technician was assigned and look at unit, it took another couple of days to get the technician back. CHW did what they could to expedite situation. Overall the AC unit is fixed!

    I submitted a claim and CHW set up an appointment with a plumber. The only thing I wish is that when making a claim is that the client could request a time/day. Luckily I was available for the service appointment scheduled. Once the plumber arrived and diagnosed the problem, they reported to CHW to get further instructions. When the instructions were received, they fixed the problem of the leaking toilet. He was very nice and professional.

    I am starting to believe that having a home warranty is a scam, especially with Choice. That is solely my opinion, others could have had better experiences than me. My microwave went out and needed a replacement. The technician came, where I paid him a $65 service fee for him to tell me that I needed a new microwave in less than 5 minutes. He was a great technician that I have used previously, so nothing against him. But Choice home warranty only wants to give me $191 to replace my microwave that the closest equivalent microwave costs over $400!

    I tried calling to dispute the offer but got nowhere with it. The offer of $191 is too low, especially when I already had to pay a $65 service. So technically, I am only receiving $126 to get a new microwave that if I replace it with something equivalent, costs over $400. To say that I am frustrated would be an understatement. These home warranties aren’t cheap, and the service call fees aren’t cheap either. I’m starting to wish that I would have looked into another warranty company, or probably shouldn’t have gotten a warranty at all.

    The person that came to see if our washing machine was repairable was professional. However, the report he submitted to Choice said our machine could not be repaired as the ball bearings were not available from Asko. He estimated to me that the repair would be about $1,600. He did not relay that information to Choice. Choice offed us $534 in a gift card to a store that does not carry Asko. I refused and they will send a check that I will put towards the $2,200 that I needed to spend to get a new washing machine.

    Alpha Appliance came to fix my non draining dishwasher. He didn’t even have a bucket to drain the dishwasher. All that was needed to remedy the problem was to connect the hose to the garbage disposal instead of the current drain hookup. Instead he said I needed a plumber.     The claim for the icemaker in our refrigerator was handled by Sears Repair and they weren't friendly or communicative. I knew that the icemaker was bad and I talked to somebody prior to the service call and I thought maybe the techs could have one on hand when they come. But that wasn't the case. They had to order it. It came the day that they were supposed to come out and install it. But because they didn't get the notification that the thing had arrived, they had to reschedule the installation. And when they rescheduled, the technician couldn't come out. So, they had to reschedule again. So, it ended up taking two weeks longer. It took 20 minutes, at the most, to install it and it’s a little disappointing that the claim took that long. But other than that, the experience with Choice was okay.

    I made a claim for an air conditioner. After Choice charged $65 for a repairman to come out and look at it, he said, "You definitely have a leak up here. We can't fix that by itself." I told him I have a warranty that if my air conditioner broke, I would get fixed if it needed to be fixed. But Choice told me, "That goes for that part, but we can't just put that part in without putting the other parts in a 14-year old unit." I asked, "Don't you pay for those?" They told me I'd have to pay for it. I thought that'd be around $1,000 but I paid $4,500.

    They put it in a week ago, but it broke down before the week was up. The guy came out and looked it all over. He said everything looked like it was working." I said, "When I shut it off for a couple of hours, I turn it back on, and it works." He said, "It's freezing outside. When that freezes up, you shouldn't turn it on." They left and it went right off again. I called them up and they said, "We can't come till next Tuesday." We're sitting in 80-degree weather here in our house. I'm 89 and my wife is in her high eighties too.

    When they come out on Tuesday, they have to find something wrong to send back to Choice then Choice has to go out, shop for the part and get the best bargain they can get. Then they'll send the part to the contractor, and the contractor will have to find time to put it in if it's another part. I'm not happy with Choice. I got them today and said, "They can't come till Tuesday. Can you send somebody out now?" They told me, "We could put another order, but we would have to charge you the $65 for them to come out." I asked, "When will they come out?" They told me they were not sure and wouldn't let me speak to the manager either.

    I was very pleased with Choice for the period of time I had them. Every time I ever had a claim, which was rare, all went smoothly and timely. I had them in previous addresses before this last one and I've had nothing but good reports except for one thing. I wanted to transfer my warranty over to my new home buyer but was told I couldn't do that because I paid monthly. I was never told that ever or I would have paid annually just to have that ability. That needs to be communicated with people immediately that are paying monthly that they cannot transfer it over.     Choice has always resolved my problems and with them, I don't have to look for a technician that I can trust. When I needed a service on the dryer, I had somebody there pretty fast. I also haven't had any problems with vendors. As a matter of fact, everyone that I've had, I would call them back or ask for them. They seemed to try to find somebody for us right away and the first time we used the service, the problem wasn't their fault.     I've enjoyed Choice so far. They have been out on my refrigerator and they helped me when I had to get a new dishwasher. The dishwasher cost 530 and they paid me 300. But that's well and good. But recently, they just ignored me. My washing machine broke down and the tech ordered the part for it. They said the part would come to my house and to let them know when it was there then they'd come out and fix the washing machine. So, I called them when they part got here. But the part has been here for a month and nobody has showed up. This is not acceptable.

    The tech said that he is in Boise and he can't make it down here until July 25th. In the mean time, I've got my laundry right here and I've got to wait a couple of more weeks before he gets here. Also, the light in my refrigerator keeps blowing out and it's dark in there. So, I filed a claim on that and I've never heard from anybody. I called them about two weeks ago and they said they were getting back to me.

Choice Home are scheduling appointments that have been confirmed by the technician causing further delay in the process. Improvements is needed in that area.

    All of the Choice Home Warranty Customer Service representatives who responded to questions about my claim status for service on my inoperable air conditioner and the options available to me provided clear and accurate information. I had to make several calls about the status of my claim. Each person I spoke with was patient, helpful and courteous.

    The Choice Home Warranty process to identify technicians to service customers is problematic. I made the request for a technician to service my air conditioner on Saturday, July 1 and by Monday, July 3, none of their technicians in my area "picked up" my claim. I had to select the reimbursement option. The reimbursement option comes with great potential temporary cost to repair an air conditioner or replace one.

    I recommend Choice Home Warranty reviews the processes to identify and get technicians to service claims. For example, they should contract local companies to provide emergency service-and not having air conditioning on the hottest days of the summer so far -110- is an emergency - when their technicians do not "pickup" claims within two (2) days-48 hours.

    In addition, when a claim is not "picked up" in two days, Choice Home Warranty should pay for the repairs that the company submits through its portal. It is unfair for the customer to pay for repairs and be reimbursed within 30 days when the area Choice technicians in an area do not "pickup" a claim. I believe the requirement that the technician should complete their report in the Choice portal is fair. I believe the process, which requires specific information is sufficient to show the technicians' qualifications and support the repair cost.

    Finally, I want to reiterate that the Choice Home Warranty reimburse process should be reviewed and changed so that customers do not have to pay for repairs when technicians do not "pick up" their claim. In addition, Choice should have contracts with local companies so that they can respond when local technicians do not "pick up" a claim.

    Customer service, worker sent to my home to fix my problem provided a positive experience, however very disappointed as I found out I had to pay more than my service fee to get my problem fixed.     My ac unit was acting up. Before I got Choice Warranty I called a few companies to come out and check to see to what was going on. They all wanted to charge me $13,000 for the repair.     Let me start off by saying last year I had a horrible customer service experience with a CHW staff on the phone, and I made a formal complaint with a supervisor. My warranty expired and I needed new coverage, but that experience turned me completely off and I no longer wanted to do business with CHW. I never did get any other home warranty either.     The first claim we put in with Choice was all pretty quick. But for the next four claims, we had to go through the reimbursement program because nobody was taking up on the job. We had two claims that were plumbing, and then they started questioning why we put the claims in. So the claim process has been a little headache. The technician for the dishwasher did pretty well. He came out, verified the issue, got the parts ordered and fixed within two weeks. The plumbing guy himself was pretty good. But it was just that Choice was questioning the prices. Choice covered two claims out of five. So it hasn't really been very successful.

    The last couple of submissions I've done were done through the app and it takes a little bit of time to get to the portal where you can do it. But it's doable and handy to have. I can look up the status of the claim. When I make a claim, Choice easily starts to line up technicians to come out and work on it. The air conditioner failed and it’s still broken. We already had a technician out and the AC was condemned. Choice said it’s covered and we're waiting to hear that the items are in order. Once it's in stock, then we'll schedule with somebody to make it happen. Hopefully, it would not be long.

    There was a fiasco on the technician side that caused a lack of communication so there was about a three-day lag to get somebody out. Somehow the company’s portal was closed so nothing could happen. So I made a phone call and I told them that they need to talk. Once that portal got opened up, things started to happen. So other than that, the process has been fine.

    I've been having a lot of issues. We don't have any air conditioning. Two years ago, one tech came and said “There's nothing I could do for you. This needs to be just hosed down." He didn't even look at the system and then he left. So, I did all the work myself, and paid him the deductible. So, I did all the work myself and I never heard from him again.

    Recently, I paid the $85 deductible and called. The rep said I didn't pay it. They then tried to send me another air conditioning company but I'm not paying another deductible. So, the same air conditioning company called Top Air came. Their tech Mohamed is the only one who has been trying to get the issue fixed. He put a new relay box and the AC worked for two days. He also said the condenser needed to be replaced and he has been taking tons of pictures. He went out to my house again this morning and said they needed more pictures. I'm like, “How many more days are we gonna sit in a hot house that's humid and muggy?” I have a heart condition and a breathing condition and I have three dogs. I went into their email and the only update in their system was that I gotta pay the $85 deductible. I put a note on top of that and said that "I paid the $85 to Top Air." That tech got his money and he's trying the best he can. But he can only do so much until Choice approves the rest.

    I filed another claim when we needed new knobs put on the shower in the guest bathroom and new knobs on the garden tub. The contractor sent a breakdown of an estimate for $4,300, saying that they have to reset the garden tub and all that stupid crap. Two pipes fell in and they just need to be pulled up and then put on the new knob. That claim got denied.

    When I call Choice customer service, they say, “Oh, you gotta go on the website and click on the claim and look at the claim.” But there are no notes saying a technician was sent or they're looking into my situation. Other than that, the Top Air tech is actually honest and he tells me upfront what's going on. He cares about the customer and he would be a good contractor to keep because he's really good.

    We contacted Choice Home Warranty (CHW) with an A/C problem over the July 4th weekend. They took our information and immediately reached out to their representatives and advised us, as this was a holiday weekend, it may take slightly longer to get a technician to help us.     In the past, we had to go through the warranty before we could find a person to come and help, but now I can just choose whoever and they'll just abide by it. As it turned out though, we're only here four years and we didn't know who could do any repairs, so we just went along with them. One year, we had a furnace that didn't do well, and Choice couldn't find the parts because it was obsolete. Our house is very old. At another time, we had an issue with our washing machine.     Once the technician made it to my house he delivered great service and exemplified excellent customer service skills. He worked diligently to repair my unit and get it to blow out cool air. It was not an easy task. The air conditioner unit was on the roof on and he had to go to the 3rd floor to get to the unit and the inside unit was in the basement of the home.     Choice Home Warranty is horrible in communication. One email, no texts, no response to email questions, no way to directly follow up with Choice. The day contractor was supposed to show--never did. Also never called or responsed to our voicemail as to when they would be there. This is strike one for Choice Home Warranty. By the way, how is a filter not covered when the entire house is on a well and septic? This filter feeds the sink, dishwasher and refrigerator? Seriously considering going back to American Home Shield--EXCELLENT in communication and coverage. But Choice was cheaper--I guess you get what you pay for!

    Appliance stopped working Sunday July 2 pm. No electricity to panel of dishwasher. Tech was successful in direct wire to power and make sure it worked. He indicated he was not an electrician and could not go any further with the service call. Suggested an electrician to be contacted for additional work on power line or connection issues. He checked out the electrical box but said it must be replaced or checked out by an electrician.

    When I was interested in choosing Choice Home Warranty, a company representative was always available by phone to answer questions. Once I signed on, it was impossible to contact anyone at any number whatsoever. Tried for 2 days and gave up.     I don’t think if I pay for warranty I have to pay the fee and labor. For example I have a fairly new air conditioner. 2 1/2 yrs old. It stopped working. I called for service. When tech came and checked he said that line was clogged and have to charge me to unclogged. I have been doing the maintenance that I was told to do every month on the drain. It was draining outside but yet it was clogged. I was told that this is not covered so I have to pay to unclog. I didn’t have that equipment that he used to unclogged the drain. I think if you are going to pay for warranty that should be covered at least one unclogging a year.
