    There’s no option for zero stars. I spoke to a person who set up my service. I told them I currently have AHS and I’m looking for a better company, he told me that I can use my service in 28 days. He told me keep my other insurance provider until my service starts with them, which I did. On the 28th day I submitted a claim for my AC unit, through the automated which came back denied. I called and they told me that it’s 30 days to submit a claim, I explained what I was informed about the 28 days. Eventually I asked to cancel. I was transferred and it went to an automated voice, asked for my number for a call back. No call back. I’ve been trying for 3 days, I asked for a manager.

    I did receive a call, I told him about the 28 days. He said, "I would hate for you to cancel and lose money," and said, "It’s 30 days but we do 28 days if you currently have a provider." I told him that I do have one, he told me to hold, he came back and said It’s only 30 days, I’m sure he realized that I made a claim. He suggested that I have AHS fix my AC and come back. He’ll give me a month free. I said, "Okay. When are you going to cancel my account?" He said the account will stay open. I had an emergency so I had to hang up. That’s unacceptable! I went on their website and saw that they provide 1 month free and they do less than 30 days if you have a current warranty company. I took a pictures as proof in disputing with my bank.

    Waited 5 weeks to receive a call from a plumber to fix our leak in our sink. The plumber said he only got the call from Choice only a week ago!!!! Don't know why the company took 4 weeks to contact a technician??? On top of everything Choice declined paying for the repair!!!! We were told the repair was declined because they claimed that the part wore out NOT from wear and tear.

    The plumber explained to Choice that the problem was from normal wear and tear. The claim department said if he replaced the whole unit, the claim would be paid, however it was explained that it only needed a part not replaced. We paid out of pocket. We checked our contract, there is no wording to say claim would be denied if part is repaired and not replaced. Hopefully in the future, claims will be settled honestly. No 5 week wait. Terrible... Terrible... Terrible!! Terrible!!! Also, we paid 6 years in advance!!! $2300.00. Advice, don't use this company.

    Updated on 08/28/2023: The issue was never resolved. Still isn't. We were told we would be contacted by a case manager and never were. We called and left a message and never heard back. The only replies we got were by us calling in and speaking with whoever answered on the other end representing Choice Home Warranty. They then told us we would hear back within the next two business days or the following business day. We were also told from the beginning Choice Home Warranty had contractors and technicians in our area.

    When the issue came up it took 3 days of us calling and then they told us we could contact our own technician or contractor and they had to call in to get approval which we did for the beginning of it. Then when the technician needed further diagnostic we could not get approval whether the plumber called in or we did. It was put off and handed over to a supervisor. We never heard from her after leaving two messages. We're very sorry very disappointed. Hope this can be resolved so that we could work together in the future. Thank you.

    Original Review: I called in a plumbing clog, waited 4 days. Choice Home Warranty still hadn't called me back through any of the days as I checked in. They had not found a plumber. I was promised numerous times before agreeing to home warranty that they did have plumbers in the immediate area as well as contractors in all trades for issues being handled. Obviously not! I was told we could finally get our own plumber. We had one within a half hour. He got the clog open but said there may be further issue. We had to relocate the tenant for the weekend.... I was told we would be contacted by a case manager on Monday. Haven't heard from anybody. The only time I talk to anybody is when I call in and I am passed off, Very very dissatisfied with the service.

    Contractor will not deal with home warranty companies. He would only come out, diagnose and fix the issue. I tried to submit his bill but I could not see how to attach it to your form. The GFCI in the garage had to be replaced. The bill came to $195.00. We only went this way because your co. was not finding a contractor. I also could not upload a PDF of his bill.

    My refrigerator was not cooling, so I contacted CHW. A contractor was assigned and came within two days. The guy spent no more than 10 min and told me the condenser unit needs to be replaced, he then went missing for 10 days. I contacted CHW and requested a different contractor. The 2nd person came over and correctly identified the motor fan issue, fixed my refrigerator on the same day. I hope CHW screen their contractors better to avoid such disparity in service quality.

    I called to place a claim about my garbage disposal. I was able to leave my phone number and received a return call. I was also given the opportunity to file my claim through an automated system. I received a call from the plumber same day and scheduled an appointment for 2 days later. He texted his timeframe and updated it as it took him a few minutes longer than he anticipated to arrive. Once he received an approval to perform my job, he was done in about 15 minutes. I would definitely recommend Oasis Plumbing. The only negative was I had to pay for an upgraded garbage disposal to match the one that needed replacing.     It seems to me that when a servicer comes, they do the bare minimum. Back in June when I call for AC service, I feel that they should’ve cleaned my AC unit as well and they did not; especially after I didn’t need work on the unit and it just ended up being a thermostat programming issue. I felt that that was just $75 going down the drain. Now the service fee & the monthly fees have increased which is ridiculous.

    After filing this claim, I contacted Customer Service for information. I found talking to them to be most difficult. I experienced a very difficult connection on several calls: noisy call center feedback, language (pronunciation issues), and just a bit of a cavalier attitude. Finally, after many calls and through frustration, I was connected with Tracy ** in NJ who gave me great advice for avoiding some of the obstacles in the future.     What I liked was when I call if there’s a problem. You will send someone out to reevaluate the problem and fix it if not fixable. It will be replaced. No others will do this and they tell you to call someone. Something I hate doing and not to sure on who to call. As I believe you are more knowledgeable on who to call and send to fix.

    My AC unit is 20 years old and ran low on refrigerant. The technician sent by the warranty company only refilled the refrigerant and did not even attempt to diagnose the cause. Second opinions revealed I need to replace the unit altogether but the warranty would not do so until my AC unit stops working altogether or worse causes irreversible damage to my home. I will be paying out of pocket for this. Two weeks ago I had a leaking kitchen disposal and the group they scheduled could not come for 7 days. I paid out of pocket to replace my garbage disposal with another company. I will be canceling my policy as this seems to be a waste of money.

    I guess the technician was ok. I haven’t used my washing machine so I’m not sure the leak is over. I don’t like the fact that the technician would not access the problem until he collected the $65.00 deductible. You usually get paid after you have rendered service. Takes Several minutes to just heat up a cup of water for instance. The microwave is 25 years old so that’s to be expected. The technician was also unable to fully read the serial number due to it being faded and informed me because of that he could not do any repairs per Choice warranty policy. He could read model, watts, year etc. He also stated that since technically the microwave still heated although it took substantially longer then it should have he was unable to replace it as well. He apologized, he told me that with the door/glass being the shape it was in was unsafe and could be releasing harmful waves into my kitchen and he recommended I replace it, soon. Is that not the whole reason I had him in my house in the first place?

    He then tells me he has been in the repair business for 20 plus years and told me choice warranty was cheap and the most likely to deny claims in his experience. He named another company that he says he would have be able to replace the unit just on the condition of the door alone. He also stated that choice was bad at replacing appliances and under valuing things so customers had to come up with more money out of pocket to replace things. He then changed me 75 dollars for the service call and left.

    So now I have just cost myself more money and still need a new microwave. No more than 2 mins after the technician left (still in my driveway) I received a email from choice warranty stating that after reviewing my case and technician notes that my claim was denied and to review my policy as to why. Seems to me in that time not much consideration was done and technician was right, choice was cheap and would use any excuse to deny my claim. In my case, faded serial number and fact microwave still worked even if poorly. Either way I’m dissatisfied. Once I have spent money on insurance that once again takes my money finds a way not to do what they say they will.

    Upon purchasing my new home, I decided to select the upgraded warranty package. Within the first month, I had a bad exterior leak from rain. While this is covered by Choice Home Warranty, they required that all of my solar (which was nowhere near the leak area) be removed - this would have costs me thousands and they knew it. They acted in bad faith. My second claim was my primary pool pump which went out. They couldn't find a technician so I used my own. The pump and labor ended up costing me $2500 - after 4 months of arguing, CHW agreed to reimburse me for $500. In addition to their overall approach in screwing you, their customer service is awful. You primary communicate via a web portal, or if you'd like to speak with someone overseas and wait an hour on hold, that was also an option. I'm canceling my policy today!

    Once you get through to a resolution manager, customer service and communication is good. The front line communication is always very difficult, phone representatives struggle with clear communication and state they will do one thing and do another. Recently, I was told a specific co. on the Choice list would be assigned to my job, this was not done and I ended up spending a good 20 minutes on the phone once I finally got through to Resolutions to have this corrected.     I have had an air conditioner since the beginning of July that was supposed to be fixed and it has not been fixed yet. Choice sent me somebody and the person was rude. They were just into sales. My husband told him to check the unit and the guy just left. So in leaving, I called Choice and told them what the guy said. They told me the guy said the unit was not worth fixing. He didn't even go there. So, Choice told me they'll send somebody else. When I called, they apologized to me and said they don’t work for Choice anymore. So, this is the type of business that is going on. I talked to a supervisor today and she said I won't have to pay the $65 and she’ll take that off but will send somebody. I still have not had anybody.

    Choice was good at the beginning. I referred five members of my family and I'm about to tell all of them not to renew anymore because Choice Home Warranty are crooks. They either get to the least tech that don't know what they're doing or they just don't wanna pay. One person had to do a job for me at one of my rentals and that person fixed it very well. The rest of them are crap. I’ve never used the website because every time I sign in, they always said I have the wrong thing. I always have to call. I’m done with Choice.

    I bought this five-year policy with Choice and I am stuck. Their service is bad and I would not recommend them to anyone. We had a dripping faucet in our bath tub and when we called Choice, they were good in responding. They called back within an hour then they had a plumber come in about two days later. But when he came, he pulled the wrong knob and broke our faucet completely. He said he'd come back later and that he'd call Choice about it. He said they'd get it fixed but we waited and nobody called. Then we called Choice and they said if it's a broken faucet, they could not fix it. They only fix wear and tear. But I told them that we didn't even break it. It was dripping and this guy came. They were so stubborn about it and my husband got really upset. Also, somehow, the tech knew about it and he kept calling us to ask if we wanted it fixed for $600. We said no.

    Aside from that, a couple of times, they didn't fix our AC. It is such an important thing right now since I'm living in Texas, so we went ahead and quickly had someone come and fix it. Choice said they would fix everything then they'd pick little bitty things and said that they could not fix this and that. They should improve their service if they want to grow.

    The claims process with Choice is easy. I call them to put a claim in but sometimes I do it online and they call me pretty quick. Choice Home Warranty even sends me an email and then they'll say that they're getting in contact with someone and they'll get ahold of me as soon as they find somebody to do the work. Sometimes it takes a couple of days for them to find somebody. But the rate increase irked me because it used to be $60 and now they jacked it up 75.

    Choice Home Warranty pointed out something I had missed from a competitor. I bought the policy before I was sent a copy of it. One of Choice Home Warranty's competitor's policy stated at the bottom of their contract that you needed to provide maintenance records and pictures of the appliances in question or only a $150.00 payout would be given at most. Thank you to Choice Home Warranty for knowing their competitor's contracts and pointing this very important detail out to me which will save me many dollars in the future if my appliances begin to fail. They are old but still working. I pray every day that they keep going, but I may need Choice Home Warranty any day now and $150.00 does not replace or fix appliances today at that payment price, especially on a fixed income.
